real nice place to go, great selection of beers. friendly owners employees and customers. gets busy after work hours. I'm retired so I get to go there when not crazy.

Awesome, friendly and fun! Recently we were here for a wedding welcome party and really enjoyed our time here. Open seating inside and a decent size area with seating outside. The staff was helpful and friendly - always willing to answer any questions about what they had on tap and to give suggestions. Prices were decent and if you check in you can receive a 20% off coupon.

Spent 5 nights in Salem recently, pretty sure I enjoyed amazing beers 4 out of 5 nights at b2. Sad that the trip couldn't have been longer with more time to imbibe at a new watering hole with new friends. I can't say enough about this place. The craft beer selection is phenomenal, the staff are knowledgable and super friendly, and the food trucks (especially their own) were perfect. Made me feel like I was back home with good friends and good beer. They also give a "hero" discount to military and law enforcement personnel (I'm assuming firefighters as well) which I thought was extremely cool. There are so many taprooms and tap houses out there now trying to cash in in the "craft beer" movement, but they lose the feel of what a public house should be, but not this place! I'm looking froward to my next visit to Salem and more evenings at b2. Cheers

This place just keeps getting better. The food trucks have increased in variety with 3 different ones during the week and the beers, wines and ciders change enough to never get stale or uninteresting. The owners and employees have a good handle on what you might like if you say what you're looking for in a beer and are at the ready with a sample. Great friendly service and a wide variety of events going on during the weeknights. Can't complain.

If you didn't know where this place was, you'd probably miss it. Tucked away inside a strip mall, it's just off the street on South Commercial. But once you find it, it's hard not to come back. I find b2 to be a very comfortable place to sit and have a drink, watch a game, or enjoy some sun on the picnic tables outside. They have a food truck out front (either Fire N' Slice or Asian Fusion depending on the day). And Fire N' Slice makes a mean burger. As far as the beverage selections, they have a rotating tap so there's a blend of old staples and newer selections to keep things interesting. There is usually a red and white wine choice, a few ciders and lots of beer and ale choices. Atlas Cider Company makes one of the best ciders I've ever had...a Hard Blackberry Cider that also has Elderberries. If B2 has it on draft, try it. D-lish. Oh yeah, they also have various samplers, which is a great way to experience a lot of different selections at once.

Friendly, chill atmosphere. There were 3 different wines on tap, 5 ciders and the rest were beer. Owner was super nice and gave us some suggestions on beer and food. You can have 4,6,10 or 14 samplers. They're bout a buck for a sample. We ordered some food from fire n slice, which is the food truck right outside the place. Hubby had the Facebook special (doesn't have a name yet) that consisted of jalapeños, onion rings and bbq sauce. I had the el diablo burger. Wow that burger is hot, but definitely good. I would come again!!

Very nice cozy spot in south Salem to gather with friends and enjoy quite a variety of great beers. Owners are very nice and the service is excellent. There are about 25 different beers on tap along with a few ciders or wine. They can get quite busy at times refilling growlers, so you have to sometimes wait a couple extra minutes to get a drink. With several stools around the bar area, and quite a few tables, there is plenty of room to gather and watch some of the games on the TVs overhead. Pretzels and fresh popcorn and suppress the munchies, or try some of the food found in the food trucks outside. b2 eats is the permanent truck ran by the owners with another variety of food coming in on Mondays and Tuesdays (I hope I got that right!) They bring in different breweries on the weekends to feature their beers and to give away some goodies at the same time. Wednesdays are ladies night, and I'm not sure if they are still doing Trivia night as well. If you like to relax with a good beer, this is the place to be if you are in the South Salem area!

I love these Growler joints. I should just move into one but I would doubt they have a shower near by. Great place b2. Will be back for sure

This place is the now the go-to beer oasis. If you want the friendliest service when it comes to beer then look no further. These guys wrote the book on good service and how to get return customers. The owner is super friendly and remembers you by name. They give multiple tastings and never make you feel like your swindling them out of money by trying more than one. The beer selection is always extensive and brimming with quality beers and ciders. There's always something for someone. The food carts outside are also a welcome addition. I think one of the things that made me want to come back time and time again is the "Hero Discount" that they have. It gives all nurses, firefighters, paramedics, police, and teachers 10% off their bill. Yes it's not a huge money saver but it was the gesture that counted. These guys are great. I love giving them my business.

Love the atmosphere of this place, lots of beer on tap and rotating food trucks in the parking lot. I had one of the burgers (can't remember the exact name) with onion rings on my last visit. The burger was flavorful and service from the food truck was excellent (they bring your food to you in the taphouse). The only downside to this place is that it can get crowded, leading to a shortage of tables (it's a bit disappointing to order your food and not have a place to sit and eat).

Great tap selection that changes often... Keeps it interesting. They do a nice job keeping their customers informed of new beers on Facebook. The food trucks are a nice touch as well!

This is a great place to get drinks. Love it everytime I come in! The bartender is amazing and she took great care of us! Thank you b2! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the area. The ambiance was great and exactly what I would expect from a bar to just chill out and have a few drinks! The girl with the glasses took great care of us, and she had the best personality!

The atmosphere was ok. The food was plain bar food nothing spectacular. The beer was good but it is so small inside that it is hard to find a spot to sit. We found a table and it was dirty for 15 minutes until I mentioned something about it. The place is ok I doubt I go back maybe just to fill out growler once in a while but nothing. To rave about. We had never been in there and weren't sure what to do or anything but realized we had to go to the counter to order... They do offer military discounts tho. Just nothing to rave about for me they need to make the place bigger for what I do see a great place right now it is just too small inside and crowded..

they changed up the food, only vegan options are now fried apps. boo.

Chill hangout and great beers. The place now has their own food truck parked outside serving food most evenings. Such an upgrade! The wait staff is always helpful and nice. Don't be in too much of a rush here because this is a place where people like to taste beer and the ordering isn't always timely.

ATMOSPHERE: It's got a bit of a suburban stripmall starbuck's vibe, but generally a nice pleasant place to hang out. Main complaint is popcorn. I don't like that smell, and I especially don't want it when I'm trying to appreciate the subtle nuances of fermented beverages. Outside seating is pretty tacky. IIRC, they just plunked down some picnic tables in the driveway. SERVICE: Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, etc. Really couldn't be better. FOOD: Cart outside. No opinion. BEVERAGES: Wine on tap! That's cool. Usually 2 or 3 ciders. Nice range of beers. They're not one of these places that devote, say, 90% of their taps to their favorite style. You can get something fancy, like maybe a Crux beer or a top-tier Deschutes product, and even Block15 (!) if you get lucky. But there are lots of simple cheap everyday options if you're not picky (although I can't fathom why people come to a place like this to drink the cheap stuff). PRICE/VALUE: Prices span quite a range, but generally very appealing. I think they still offer samplers (about 4 or 5 oz I guess) of the lower-priced taps for a buck, which I consider to be an amazing value (this is the only bar I've frequented in Salem, so I can't say how their local competition compares). OVERALL: Even though I live in the beer mecca of Portland, I'd add b2 to my routine if it was here in my neighborhood. I've only been here three times, and always when I was in a huge rush. I'd love to come here at opening time on a slow mid-week day when I had nothing to do, and see how far I could get down the taplist.

Not too impressed. It would have been nice to see beers on-tap from breweries not in Salem.

Great little place. They have a large selection of beers and some ciders. It looked like a collection of beer from semi local microbreweries. The bartender was knowledgable and offered tastings of anything we wanted. I found my new favorite cider here!

Stopped in here specifically to try a Fire N Slice pizza (they set up in the parking lot most weekends) and see what b2 was like. I live close to Keizer, and so frequent Growl Movement as my normal growler fill place, but the family wanted to try this pizza and I was curious to see the selection on tap at b2 and generally see what it was like. It's bigger and invites more of a "sit and have a pint" atmosphere than Growl Movement (which has a very small space for sitting) - they have TV for games, a multi-game video cabinet, and some nice seating. One thing is that due to their OLCC classification, there are NO MINORS allowed anywhere on the premises, which extends to the sidewalk area outside, which was a trio of 2 chairs and a small table, "roped off" by a string of lights and some kegs. We had brought our 7 month old baby with us, so she had to sit in her carseat, just outside the roped area, while we were inside it. It was a sunny day and it was really hot out there! Some umbrellas or other way to get some shade would be 500% better. Parents kept rolling up with kids in tow - they either left, filled a growler and left, or had the kids sit outside the roped off area. Not ideal for sure, and if there's any way around this classification, I think a lot of people would welcome it. Perhaps it's because b2 doesn't sell any food and brings in the cart(s)? Not sure. That and the heat aside, we enjoyed a delicious pizza from Fire N Slice and a Pear Cider from Anthem for her, and a Cucumber Cuvee Sour for me. It was a great, refreshing, light drink for being out in the sun :) Other things I like was the owner, super friendly - small tastes for free or larger ones for $1, and the Digital Pour menu. Shows you when you checkin on 4Sq and shows the level of the keg too. I'll be back, but unless the rules change, it'll be less frequent than I'd like because we are rarely without the kiddo.

Salem needed this. Amazing beer, 30 taps, air conditioning, and good people! The owner and his wife are really cool, and the atmosphere is terrific. There is not food, but Brian (the owner) said he is getting some food carts to do dinners there. Please go support this place, it has the best beer in Salem!

So my friend was THE first customer here and I have been super jealous that she has been frequenting this place so much and I haven't been able to go. Finally National IPA Day came and I had to check it out... so we met up and came in. Met by a very friendly guy behind the counter and had plenty of suggestions of brews to try. I felt at home immediately and after a few tasters, I ordered a flight of brews to try. Amazing selection of brews and a very informative display system that shows how much of each brew is left and so on. Check in on Untappd and Foursquare or Facebook and you show up on the display. Just need to add Yelp on that. Fantastic selection of beers, great selection of growlers and merchandise. Whoever does the merchandising for this place is spot on. Great place to fill some growlers and hang out and have a brew.

We were so happy tonight to know that the one who is 'not so friendly' to say the least, no longer works there! We loved this place from the get-go as the owners obviously put their souls into the success of The Taphouse. We will now be back to frequenting more, can't wait!

Nice but a bit sterile for me. Food is available from a food wagon outside. You have to go outside and order and it is brought inside. The selection is limited to mostly burgers and sandwiches but the food was good. The place is not very big and is in kind of a modern little mall. It does not have the feel of a traditional brew pub and seem -kind of sterile with no personality. You almost expect to hear elevator music. Not a place I would go for a few beers with the guys after work. They seem to sell lots of growlers and have a nice selection although I have never heard of most of the beers, and do offer samples before you decide. It is not a bad place by any means, just not an inviting place. But it does add a bit to the abysmal Salem pub and food scene.

Came on a whim. Glad we did. New favorite spot on Salem. Brian, the owner, is a gem.

Dropped by the other afternoon and everything was impressive. The selection of beers was well chosen, the prices were fair and the service left nothing to be desired. I can't believe this place exists. I like Ventis, but I think I'll find myself here just as often. Do yourself a favor.

Boneyard, Firestone, and 10 Barrel on tap at the same time! And if your short on cash they have dollar pints of beer that they want to get off their taps (I'm not sure if they're still doing that).

Great place, cool vibe, great atmosphere & service! Upscale with a great beer list and digital big screen selections! Well done interior and awesome gourmet food truck outside.

Best taplist in Salem, 30 beers, good prices, and great daily specials. No kitchen so order-in or snack on pretzels unless the pizza oven is parked outside. I will be back as soon and as often as I can! I only wish there was a place like this in West Salem. Full disclosure: the owner is an acquaintance, but I wouldn't post at all if I didn't love it!

  • Kyle C.

Best beer selection around and a good location. Service is good as long as you get the owners, but the blonde who works there is not very welcoming. Not somewhere I would stay to hang out, but great place to fill up and go.

This is a great taphouse, they always have a great beer variety on tap. Friendly staff, and they seem to have their game ironed out. My only complaint is that they have become popular to the point of running out of room at their location. But I suppose that's sort of a good problem to have, for them. If you want a cold beer, no reason not to stop... though, be warned - they do not have much for food except for nights that the food truck is on site, which is usually only weekends.

It's about time someone gave Salem a taphouse with some serious selection, and Brian and Barb (b squared) delivered! this is the Baskin Robins of beer with 31 taps to choose from. Brian was super generous and friendly, offerring to sample anything and everything you want to try before you make your selection for your pint or growler. Great energy inside with friendly people that love beer. Nice place to cool down on a summer day!

Not good. Overrated. Stopping by on the way back to Portland and was unexpectedly closed. Tap list was incorrect.

Love the fact I can find beers that you can't find anywhere else. And the food trucks they get to come are amazing as well!!
