High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

Came here for my Birthday lunch with my mom. We got the 2 for $20 special and both decided on the Oriental Chicken Salad. It was Excellent! I don't get salad very often at most places but this was well worth it. The service was excellent. Since it was my birthday I got a coupon for a free dessert and I got the Triple Chocolate something and it was fantastic. I practically licked the plate (at least I really wanted to!).

I can agree with the majority about the staff; they are nice, food was alright too. Suggestion: If just 2 people dining here together, eat at the bar or possible, get a booth. The 2 person tables I found awkwardly close, (literally could reach over and pick off your plate close). My 4 rating is more for the staff, the food was okay.

Looking for some food in Salem on a weekday and it is well after 9pm. Where do you go? Applebee's. At least that is where you go if you're not from Salem and hungry. We have been to this particular location twice. The first time was the normal Applebee's experience. Unmemorable. This time around was probably the best Applebee's experience that I have had in all my Applebee's dining experience, which is something I can count on one hand. To begin with, it was clear when we arrived that our hostess and waiter seemed to have had a long night. The restaurant wasn't very full when we arrived so we probably just missed a big rush. I imagine it was just one of those days for them. I get it. I've had those too. Despite this, they were nice and friendly. The waiter was attentive and we even had the manager stopping by to say hello. That's the first time in my Applebee's dining experience that the manager stopped to do this. The menu has a variety of food items for whatever you're feeling. Sandwiches. Steak. Chicken. Salad. Whatever. It's Applebee's. If you expect more than that...well... I don't even know what to say then. It's Applebee's, that should say it all, right? At least I know that if I'm in Salem after 10pm and I'm hungry, I know where to get some decent grub.

Great food, great service, great prices. Great place to dine!! I am a veteran and appreciate the service a veteran receives on Veteran's day. Not interested in the free food, am interested in their show of respect for men and women who have served. Keep up the good work!!

We were there last night. Service was fine, but it took 45 minutes to get our food. Not what you expect from Applebee's. We finally just had to take it to go.

As we love them back home and thought we would try this one by our hotel. As much to say about this one? Very good. Our server was very nice and the food came out hot and great taste. Clean and good music playing. Tami was our server. Thumbs up great job.

Let me just start by saying this is not about this Apple bees, but rather all Apple Bees in general. I never go to places like this, they are generic and have no originality, just bland upscale McDonalds basically, unfortunately when I moved to Salem Oregon my mom's husband Charlie dragged me to every possible cheap chain restaurant that would let him wear overalls that had not been taken off or washed for a month. while the servers were pleasant enough, the food is cheap and unoriginal. I have probably been to Applebee's 50 times over the last 4 years and not because I wanted to, believe me. All I can say is that I have been horrified to see people take their dates here! Listen if you really like that girl have some class and style, put some effort into the damn thing. Go somewhere nice, somewhere slightly memorable and no, not Denny's or IHOP or a buffet or Shari's! Ladies, demand more! That's my two cents. You only live once.

They were slammed and short-staffed, and we didn't order our take-out ahead of time, but they still prepared everything in a hurry, exactly to order. Very impressed!

We chose dinners from the 2 4 25 menu.My husband got a steak dinner, lncluded broccoli, and other veg& a choice of potatoes.I chose bourbon chix &shrimp,no option with sides,I didnt know the sides!,I got horrible salty chix, very gritty shrimp, slimy onions also burnt potatoes wedges,no choice on sides, the cook came out and asked my husband if his steak was fine, even the server asked him,I ate what I could stomach, the server wanted to get me a take home tray,I said no.I will never go to Applebee's again,

Awful. Short pour on my beer (yeah on my beer, 3 inches from the top after I pay extra for the tall glass), my wife's 6.99 cocktail came out in a half empty glass, they charge an extra 1.99 for sweet potato fries with my burger and then put barely any on the plate, my wifes $12 piece of chicken was gross - like mechanically separated chicken scraps formed into a chicken breast shape. Very dissapointing, I don't care what they do to this place, I'm never coming back.

I have ate at Applebee's many times inside and decided to order take out of one of my favorite sandwiches (the BLT). It was the WORST BLT EVER! First, it wasn't ready on time which is fine except it was SO COLD when I got home (I live about a mile from the restaurant). The cheese was definitely a Kraft single style, BARELY melted! Bacon was cold, bread was soggy. Fries were mediocre at best! I would have returned it but my family was all sick except me. Made myself something else! BLAH!

Always pleased with this Applebees location. It is clean and service is great. I come to this location often with friends. Tonight I warned the hostess my order might be "needy", which I KNOW are words of death to servers and hosts and kitchen alike (I am on a restrictive diet). She let the server know and he promptly came over and took my order (7oz. steak but with extra veggies instead of potatoes, but instead of taking the potatoes out entirely I had them added to my boyfriends order to go). Kudos to Tyler, our server, he waited on us and was great, as well as clean cut. I was by myself and he sat down with me at my table to take my order. It made it feel very personable. My water has been filled three times promptly when it's been emptied, but he knows not to ask questions when our mouths are full. Drink prices are a little high. When we sit in the bar area, I can see the fridge containing the wine bottles and I pay 7.99 for a glass of wine I happen to know is 4.99 for a bottle on the bottom shelf of my grocery store. Price on food is fair. I think 11.99 for steak, potatoes and veggies is pretty good. I do feel the AC is a notch too high but I always feel like that in any Applebees. Bring a sweater if you are a coldie.

I get roped into going here every once in a while and each time I leave I tell myself I will never go again. The only thing I like to eat here is the French Onion Soup. Otherwise I really think everything on the menu tastes awful.

Will defenatly be going back to here. Lunch prices were very good. Took very little time for the food to arive. I ordered the lunch combo and my wife had a salad. My combo was great but my wife thought the salad was to spicy. The staff was amazing, my wife let the server know about the salad and the manager came out and apologized about the salad and even gave us a $10 gift card to come back. Will come back and defenatky gonna tell everyone about the great service.

I hate coming to this location and now I will never go back. One, it was freezing in there! I am always hot so the fact that I left my jacket on the whole time shows it must've been COLD. Two, Our waitress, Deborah D, was horrible. She came to our table to bring us drinks and take our order, and that's pretty much it, someone else brought out our food and refilled our drinks because I told them our waitress vanished. Every, Single, Time, she walked by she made no eye contact whatsoever, had nothing in her hands, and pretty much just ran from one side of the restaurant to the other ignoring us completely. The two times she did actually come to our table she came dancing toward us ridiculously, and didn't even stay long enough to let us accomplish anything. Three, My food was cold and I was never able to flag her down to tell her, I asked her for mustard and ranch which I never got. I didn't eat a single bite of my food which she didnt even ask about as she dropped the check and left before I could say anything again. And lastly.... just to add even though its silly... we should've recieved 6cents change back, and she only brought 5cents. Like I said, silly... but the truth. She could've said "I ran out of pennies or something" but she didn't. She dropped the receipt and nickle and continued to run around doing NOTHING, but trying to look busy. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.. unless driving to the one off Parkway by Keizer is an option.

Well I set myself up for this one by thinking maybe I could actually get some good food here for once. I was wrong. The staff was friendly this time although I felt like the manager approached us too often.. Maybe that's just because I was trying to eat. I got the happy hour 1/2 special.. My boyfriend and I shared the boneless wings which were only like half covered in the sauce. One even only had some on the tip. I got the cheeseburger sliders, which came out very pink..... How hard is it to fully cook a hamburger that small? I asked for them to make me new ones but get them to go, they were nice and apologetic. When I got my to go bag we left and went home. I was starving so I sat down to eat at home and my little cheeseburger sliders were again, not thoroughly cook. I know I said this in my last review but I won't eat here again even if they pay me. No matter what, I will not be dragged into it again.

Went in for lunch, planned on having dessert but our waitress brought us the bill with out asking if we wanted any. She lost out on a sale and therefore better tip. My food was very good. I will be back, just remember wait staff, always try to up sell, it may mean a bigger tip for you.

My partner and I stopped in for a beverage and some snacks yesterday. We were lucky enough to hit them during their Happy Hour with $3 beverages and half price appetizers. Even though the Sampler Platter of appetizers was NOT on the selection we went with it anyway because after doing the math, it would have cost us more to get the three appetizers we wanted even at half price, and we would have had too much food. I suggest that they should add their Sampler Platter to the appetizer menu anyway because they serve less food and still make a profit. Being Summer (or at least that is what the calendar says) I opted for a frozen LEMONADOES drink. Yes, that is NOT a misspelling...for some reason these chain restaurants try to spell words with cutesy twists. My partner went tried and true with a Hefeweizen. Total cost for the two drinks and appetizer platter was just over $18.00. While I still don't recommend Applebee's for a full dinner, drinks and a few nibbles is a good bet.

Middle of the week 6:00pm. Decided that we were hungry enough to eat Applebees! Mistake. We did a togo order from the 2 for 20. I got the rib tips and fries. Wife got chicken penne noodles. You get to choose a appetizer and a desert also. We went with bonless wings and cheese cake. The waitress was very nice. She made small talk with our kids in the truck. We waited around 30 mins and at first they brought out the wrong order to us. We paid the bill tipped 8bucks and drove off! When we got home found that the ribs were burnt and had very little sauce. My wife said hers was fine. Boneless wings were just soggy and flavorless. (Soggy maybe from togo box, understandable.) And dessert never made it into the bag. Been here several different times and been disapointed a lot. Fustrating. The waitress highlighted several things on our receipt to do a survey. I think before she takes the time to do that she should make sure that all the items have found there way into our bag. I will try my beat to stay clear of this chain. Not impressed by any means.

Can someone please tell me the theme of this restaurant???? The menu is a hodge-podge of different types of cuisine, with the main theme being ridiculous appetizers that make NO sense whatsoever. The last time that I stepped in Applebees, my man and I scanned the menu, looked at eachother with equally confused faces, and walked out. Why people eat here is beyond me.

$3 Pounders and 1/2 price appetizers. Can't beat that happy hour. The food is as good as it gets in my opinion. I like the under 550 calorie options. The trio's are excellent as well. I actually don't remember a bad meal there. The service can be a little slow, but in their defense, it is busy most of the time. Rebekah, one of the servers is the best. She is very attentive and always has a smile on her face! Jacob is also very good!

We sat in the bar and it was ok. I miss the old sauce that was actually hot for my wings. Normally when I sit in the bar my water never runs dry and I get served fast. I was on a 30min lunch break and got back after 40 mins. There was a troubled table near us but it seemed all the other tables in this severs section got water and attention. We even tried to flag her down before she went off to help another table. I like applebees and will try it again just hope for better service.

SERVER CASSANDRA was PMS-ING AT ASIANS... at least that's how I felt. Your server thanks a white family for coming in.. then hugs another white person.. helps another white family (while your request get IGNORED,1 refill and 1 shooter both asked at the SAME TIME) and then sees you and frown and has insincere apology. It is upsetting that a refill, just one, the only one we ever asked for comes after 15 minutes and it is wrong, and then 20 mins the shooter comes (half melted)... Those two things a server can prepare, it isnt even the kitchen's fault, if it is the food coming at different times I can understand. Asians tip bad? If that was what the server thought, well she is stupid. I am not uneducated nor uncivilized. After her bad treatment I left 10% instead of 18%. The worst part is she has been a server for 8 years! Let me repeat EIGHT (8) years but no customer service skills? Honestly the door holder/opener was a lot nicer. Honestly I go there for the food, but when a bad service affects the food it is an issue. I mean if she is being racist, that's even a bigger issue, and I feel that was it. We were dressed nice but not like in suits, our clothing had no stain or holes, and me and my mom carried a designer purse, its not like we LOOKED like hobos. why 2 stars? The manager acknowledged the issue when I called him. He gave us a refund which I was surprised since I only called because I felt that treating someone that way was not okay. ONLY CONCERN: since I will get a refund, I am afraid the waitress might have my address and go revenge on me or something. Remember: worst server: Cassandra best server: Jason

Applebee's is all over the place in Salem, there are several locations, but none are more needed than this Lancaster location as restaurants are spread out far and apart. While the parking is cramped, it is likely to stay that way all throughout the afternoon all the way into dinner. From a food standpoint, this Applebee's has been fairly decent, although consistent with the rest of its sister chains. Service has always been your average teenager / young adult taking orders and maintaining the service. One should go here before 4PM to take advantage of their half-off appetizers special on weekdays.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
