We were guided to the Rodeo Steak House for their salad. We ended up enjoying another entrée and dessert, too. Pleasant, lively waiters. Very good food. We will go there again.

I have eaten here with my parents in the past and the food was decent. We went here again to celebrate my last night in town and it was a nightmare. It was a busy night and it took forever to get seated. That would be fine by itself but the service was horrible along with it. We were initially told that the wait would be 20-25 minutes and we were fine with that. About. 30 minutes in, we notice some people who came in behind us get seated. Another 5-10 minutes later, my dad asked the hostess how much longer it would be and he saw our name crossed out. The hostess said she called our name already. My dad said that he was standing right there and no one had called our name. She said that she called it herself three times and she would see what she could do. My dad came back and confirmed with me and two other customers that his name was not called. It wasn't. He has a unique name that would not be missed. About 10-15 minutes later, we were finally seated. We ha been there for an hour, despite the initial estimate and with being lied to. I attempted to express my concern to the server and was disregarded. I repeated my concern about being told the wrong time and lied to about our name being called. She continued to disregard my concern and forcibly asked what we wanted to drink. When she brought is our waters and asked what we wanted to eat, I said we needed more time, she lightly scoffed and walked away. At this point, my parents and I were done. We left before ordering and asked for the manager on the way out. He was friendly an tried to make us happy but we were upset, offended, and did not want to give our money to this place... I hope they figure it out for future customers but I will likely never be back again.

After an extremely hard week my husband told me to put aside our half cooked dinner and lets all go to the Rode Steakhouse. That sounded like a huge relief but between the bad service and the horrible food I would have rather stayed home and finished cooking our meal. My son and I ordered 2 strawberry lemonades and the waitress asked if we wanted bottomless. To me that means continued refills. I dont know what it means to Rodeo but our waitress brought us mugs big enough for a trucker. There's no way I can drink all that and refills and that goes double for my 11 yr old son. I really felt she pushed up on those because the size alone would have sufficed for 2 meals. When we left neither one of us had finished even half of our drinks but were still charged for bottomless. All 3 of our meals were awful. My husbands steak fries were a split second away from burnt, my sons burger was so sloppy, with tomatoes and bacon so tough, that the whole thing fell apart with the first bite he took, and my steak was way too spicy and I don't eat spicy foods. When we told the waitress she actually defended the food saying that the fries were supposed to be like that (did she think it was the first time we've ever had steak fries??), and that all their steaks are seasoned. I told her again that nothing we ordered was good and why, and again she defended their food. I told her specifically that my steak was over seasoned and she offered to have the cooks put it back on the grill and burn the spices off. UGH! She left and the next time she came to the table she had the gall to say 'No boxes?'. Unbelievable! And then she looked at my son who by this time was trying to eat his burger with a fork and she laughed and said 'passing that steak around?'. OH! MY! GOSH!! Is she really serious?? I was so infuriated I left and waited in the car for my husband and son. They came out and told me they were comped 25% and then the manager told my husband that Rodeo always seasons their steaks and next time I'm to tell the waitress to go light on the seasoning. I just about went through the roof!! I have eaten at Rodeo many times in the 4 years I've lived here and I've never had a steak seasoned that hot from there before, and if anyone should be telling anyone about the seasoning it should be the waitress telling the customer!!!!!! There is no way we will be back. The food was crap. The service was crap. The resolution to the problem was crap.

My family and I are vacationing in Roseburg and just wanted a good dinner, we came here and it exceeded expectations. Rhe environment is so fun- country music in the back, peanuts all over the ground. The prime rib was fantastic and the rolls with honey butter WOW seriously the best things ever! I had to stop myself so I could eat my actual dinner haha. The waitress was so incredibly nice and just a joy to be around, if I am ever back in roseburg I will come here again!

We came here because our hotel (Best Western) offered a free appetizer. When we first came in, I had really low hopes because the front hallway was covered in a THICK layer of peanut shells. There are just buckets and buckets of peanuts scattered throughout the restaurant, including on the tables. The hostess was very friendly, and let us look at a menu before we decided whether or not we wanted to eat here. We decided that we did want to eat here, so they led us into the back dining section (which, by the way, was relatively void of peanut shells). Our waitress was super nice and very accommodating, with a great sense of humor. She let us order the order the large potato skins with our appetizer coupon. The potato skins were decent, but were more than just skins -- there was a lot of potato still left on the inside. We also ordered the cheese mushrooms, which were good, but very rich. Now onto the portion sizes: they're HUMONGOUS. Each entree, including those on the 55+ menu, comes with two sides (sweet potato, baked potato, soup, salad, etc). I tried to order just one side with my grilled chicken because I knew I wouldn't be able to finish everything, but our waitress wanted me to get the best value for my money, so I ordered a side of sweet potato in addition to my chicken tortilla soup. She also allowed me to order two different sauces on the side for my chicken -- half ranch and half barbeque. I was full by the time we finished appetizers (we had also had soft, fluffy, hot rolls), I was full. I ate probably two bites of my chicken, and couldn't eat any more. Seeing this, our waitress was extremely concerned that there was something wrong with it or that I didn't like it. She was relieved to discover that I was simply full, and that there was nothing wrong with the chicken itself. She then helped me pack up my chicken and sweet potato, and brought separate containers and lids for my ranch and barbeque sauces. Overall, this was an extremely positive experience. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, I would not hesitate to come again.

Well, this wasnt the first time we been there. Usually have great time. Waitress, Mandy, order#187565 table23. We didn't get our rolls till we had eat ALL the peanuts. Then, the sweet yummy butter that came with the rolls LOOK as though it had been USED already. WTF? Couldn't find Mandy until we were ready to leave. Geez, with help like that, they won't last long in this town. Food we tasty, but didn't settle well with any of us. Idk what they put in it...MSG maybe? Sure felt like it. Yuck.

We looked up this steakhouse on yelp after a long drive and decided to try it out. We were so pleased! Excellent steaks, best we've had out in a long time!!! Superb sweet potato fries! The fried pickles were to die for! This was the best meal we've had out in a long time. Service was excellent. I can't wait to return next time we drive up north!

My husband and I really liked the food. Staff was super friendly. Place was clean, well with peanut shells on floor clean. Prices for portion is reasonable. STEAK WAS GREAT! We both had New York cooked to perfection, seasoned well not over or under. We will gladly be making a return trip here. My husband even stated it would be worth the drive, about an hour from home.

There are rat droppings on the floor of this restaurant. Repeat: Rat droppings on the floor. The layer of peanut shells is nearly, but not quite sufficient to cover up a horrific health hazard. Slightly before noticing that, I walked in on someone snorting a line in the restroom. I left, and will never eat here again. You should skip it too.

We went to the Rodeo a couple weekends ago on the spur of the moment to celebrate the purchase of our new car. The decor is western and purposely campy, with cowboy and horseback riding articles figuring prominently. There are barrels and buckets of roasted peanuts every, and you are expected to munch on a handful, throwing the shells on the floor, while you wait to be seated, or to be served. Some of those peanuts looked like they had been there for a while. The staff was friendly, and we were seated promptly. The menu lists a number of selections, including steaks, prime rib, BBQ ribs...as expected at a steak house. The entrées are big, and sort of pricey. Our waitress pointed out a section in the middle of the menu headed "Make it a Combo". There were several entrée selections there, all smaller than the main ones, as well sides of vegetables, that could be ordered a la carte to make your own combo, so this is what we did. We both got a half-rack of ribs. I got the garlic mashed potatoes, and Rose got roasted potatoes. We were served hot rolls with honey butter along with our meal, and everything was great! We were happy with ordering from that section of the menu, since we were able to get portions that were just right for us, at less expensive prices. We returned a couple weeks later, especially to once again order some ribs from the "Make it a Combo" menu. However, our waitress this time told us we could not do that. We could only use that menu section to order more food in addition to one of the main entrées, and we could not order from that section alone! She told us that if we had done that before, then our previous waitress was mistaken, or we were mistaken. This was unfortunate, since we went back specifically for that deal, but our waitress seemed to think we were trying to scam them. This made us feel uncomfortable, and put a damper on our visit. The food was great and the service, except for the waitress our second time, was also good. We will probably go back, but only if we are very, very hungry, or we find out that we really can order only from the "Make it a Combo" section. "Rose's Cafe" #rosescafe1 rosescafe1.blogspot.com

The service and quality of food was excellent!!! I would have given it all 5 stars if it weren't for the hundreds of ants climbing onto our table.

Great steak and super friendly service at a reasonable price. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired but everything else makes it worth it

I love the western decor! There's nothing like it. You get served warm fresh rolls with homemade honey butter that is to die for! And the service has been great always. The wait staff are very nice. I honestly don't know a better place that has great food, decent prices, friendly wait staff and neat decor!

Over the top. The dinner started off with these honey rolls that were very tasty. They had the special for $22.99. You get a nice prime rib with 5 shrimp with 2 sides. Ask for togo boxes at the start, you will need them. Chelsea, our wonderful server was on top of it and was fun to engage. Come hungry, leave full.

Without a doubt, one of the best burgers and fries I have ever had. This is one of the best restaurants in the area

I was in Roseburg on business and asked the hotel clerk where I could a nice dinner that was not a truck stop or a diner. They recommended the Rodeo Steak House and gave me directions. From the parking lot it looked ok, pretty generic bar lights and that strip mall feel. When I entered I thought Hmmm a barrel of peanuts to throw on the floor not a good start. I waited for the hostess after a waiter told she would be a minute. I was asked if I wanted to sit in th dining room or the lounge. The difference you ask TV's and noone else in the lounge but me. The waitress brought me a menu after a few minutes and asked if I wanted a drink. The beer was quick and cold. After a long wait the and an empty beer the waitress came back. I ordered a Ribeye Steak medium with steamed vegetables and a salad. The wait was long for the food. The salad came first. Iceberg covered with cheap Cheddar and Jack Cheese with bacon and 2 slices of purple onion. Pretty lame and more topping than salad. The steak came and the plate looked good a decent piece of meat and lots of Broccoli and a few steamed baby carrots. That's where the good part ends. The steak was awful. It tasted like cheap meat that had been frozen and cooked before it thawed. It was over done and rubbery. After the long wait I thought I might send it back but the waitress never came to see if I was ok. It was late, I was hungry after a 7 hour drive and I didn't want to hassle so I ate it. That was a mistake. It sat like brink in my stomach and was all the way around a terrible experience. Stay away from the Rodeo I am sure there are better places in Roseburg. To sum it up: Crappy service Lousy food Lame atmosphere It is not cheap YUCK STAY AWAY

Probably one of my favorite places to go out and eat. There can be a bit of a wait depending if you go on the weekend. But with how good the Rodeo Eggrolls are? Worth it.

Rodeo Steak House has good food and the service is above average. Note: Don't come here before or after an event where nice clothes are appropriate (I made that mistake, prom) - there are barrels full of peanuts that you eat from and just throw the empty shells on the floor. The wait is normally not very long, and the food and drinks are good. It's a little pricey, sure, but it's worth it in my opinion when you're going out for somewhat of a special occasion.

This is based on eating at Rodeo one time on a Saturday night. Peanut-shell Western decor is a casual, friendly style to me, not a problem. Waitstaff were all very friendly and helpful. I was eating on my own, and they asked for my preference as to sitting in the restaurant or the lounge. They gave me a booth where I was comfortable eating alone. I had the 6-oz filet mignon complete dinner. Right away, fresh-baked rolls and honey butter arrived. I normally leave bread, but this was so yummy I kept nibbling and finished all of it by the end of my meal. Next came a HUGE dinner salad with ice-cold lettuce, chopped tomatoes, real bacon, red onion and bleu cheese dressing with big hunks of actual cheese in it. The bread and salad alone could have been a meal. My steak was an excellent piece of meat with zero gristle or sinew, tender throughout, juicy, and cooked exactly as I like it, rare without tasting raw. The meat was perfectly complemented by a grilled veggie skewer lying on lightly seasoned rice. I love a charbroiled flavor, and both meat and vegetables tasted as if they were just taken off the backyard grill. Dallas tea from the bar was too sweet, not worth the price. Do your drinking before or after dinner, somewhere else. The filet was almost equal to a Victoria's filet at Outback. However, the bread, salad and sides were waaaayyyy better at Rodeo Steakhouse & Grill. Cost was the same as at Outback. Loved my Rodeo steak dinner and will go straight over there next time I eat in Roseburg.

We went to Rodeo because we could get an appetizer free from our motel (Windmill) and it was close by. I didn't have high expectations for a placed strewn with peanut shells that used steel buckets for chandeliers. My girlfriend and I both had prime rib. This was the tastiest and most tender prime rib I've had in a long time, much better than places like Cattleman, Black Angus, or Hungry Hunter, and was cut exactly as we requested, medium-rare. And the quantity was huge, I'm sure larger than the advertised 12 oz. Everything else we had was good too. The bake potato was filled with not only butter and sour cream but also cheese and real bacon. The salads were fresh. The rolls with honey butter were especially good. The service was friendly, helpful, and moved things along at just the right speed. This is not gourmet cuisine but it is quite good and reasonably priced. Go to Rodeo with a big appetite!

Service was great. They brought me out a second New York steak because they said the first had a lot of fat on it. I said OK. Was not the best steak.

So glad I read the reviews for this place. They were spot on. Peanut shells all over the floor. I was there for a business dinner. Andrew, our waitress was courteous and attentive. I had the porterhouse steak and it was extremely tasty. All their deserts are home made. I had the Granny Smith cobbler and my taste buds were over joyed. I will definitely come back here.

I usually only review bad experiences but with that being said I decided to try this place with no expectations. Turned out to be some of the best steak I've had. I had the steak tips with a salad and some chili. I also had some free fried mushroom appetizers due to a coupon from my hotel, half of the food came home with me but everything was great as well as the service and it was under 20 bucks.

After a tedious night of driving around trying to compromise with children upon where to eat, I somehow ended up here! My first thought, "Oh my, someone oughta clean these peanuts off the floor!" I had no idea that it was common for people to take a handful of peanuts and crush them all over the restaurant. I did not engage in such activities! Call me up tight but I felt more bad for the workers who had to clean the mess. I ordered bbq tacos. I'd say the meal was mediocre. Nothing special! I personally would not go back there!

For the price I expected a wonderful meal, what I got was just ok! First off the service is slow, I mean super slow and the food was cold, maybe it would of tasted better if it were hot! This was our 5th wedding anniversary so it was somewhat of a bust, I'll pick a better place next year, maybe in Eugene.

  • Monica H.

It's a steakhouse where you throw peanut shells on the floor and the salads and potatoes come fully-loaded with cheese, bacon bits, etc. I have them hold that stuff and keep my sides simple. Some dishes are better than others, sometimes the meats are cooked perfectly and sometimes they aren't. Their fish and chips are really salty and heavily breaded, their fillets are really good but a little spendy. The service is always good and really friendly! The grilled salmon and grilled shrimp are both excellent and usually cooked right. All-in-all it's a really good place to eat when steakhouse and peanuts is what you're in the mood for.

not a fancy steak house, that's for sure...but they really tried to make it look like one Nice fries with a generous topping of bacon, friendly service, and portions were good-sized for the price (I had a steak quesadilla) now for the MUSIC...they had very lame music - nothing close to country or rock...very strange for a steak house!

My third visit here was as good as the first! Great steaks, super sides, and service to match the food!

  • Ted A.

Excellent steak! Great service - very fast and friendly. Our server recommended a drink and I am not normally a drinker but it sounded so good I ordered one and it was fantastic. It was so good that my wife - another non-drinker - ordered one and we both really enjoyed them. The dinner salad was great. I don't know where they get their salad dressing but don't stop - it is really good. The steaks were cooked to perfection and our server was very concerned that they were just the way we liked them or he would get us new ones. He did not have too, they were perfectly cooked, very tender and tasty. Tasty peanuts all over the place and good old country music playing. If you are "cityfied" this may not be the place for you, but if you are a cowboy/cowgirl, western fan - you will love this place.

Yep, like the other have said... nothing fancy, but good food and reasonable prices. They have some good drinks too. Separate lounge area.

My family and I decided to eat here after arriving from the coast with big appetites. We had read somewhere that the steakhouse was decent and that you were given peanuts to eat/ throw the scraps on the floor. This really caught our interest and sealed the deal for our choice of dinner. When we went in, my mom asked about the free appetizer for stayng at windmill inn that was mentioned in a previous review. This freebee is in fact valid and we received a free $8 appetizer of jalapeño eggrolls. Between the 4 of us, we ordered a salad, salmon meal, tri tip meal, and full rack of ribs. He meals all came with a choice of sides and a salad. The salad entree was pretty good with the honey mustard dressing, and although we chose not to add any meats to it, it was still very fresh and flavorful. The tri tip was also good and was served in 6 slices of tender, skillfully cooked steak. He rack of ribs was huge and probably weighed about 5-7 Lbs on the plate with the potato that it came with. It was smothered in BBQ sauce and although it was pretty meaty, I found that the meat was a little bit dry. The waitress was very nice and gave us a wet napkin to clean our messy hands with. But the hing that really took away from the meal was the bad quality of the salmon. I guess it was partly our fault to order seafood from a steakhouse 80 miles from the coast, but then again it was there fault for serving it to us. The meat was tasted very fishy( in the way that it smells like a fish market) and the sauce did not help at all. The bad quality of the salmon is the reason why I have given this place a 3 star and not higher. Anyways, the service is good, the steak is great, but the prices are pretty high. Don' t expect to leave here without spending $20 a person. But if you enjoy good steak and throwing peanut shells on the ground, then this place would be good for you. Ps sorry for typos I am writing on my itouch.

We thought with the friendly atmosphere the food would be good, too. But.. Terrible, tough steak tips, and a horrible margarita

I wish I could have given this 4 stars. I have been here before but quit coming as the food was just not good. After a few years my husband and I decided to try it again. It was very good! The salads crisp the food hot, and the service good. The one thing I hate is the peanuts on the floor.. Just gross for me. If you don't mind that give it 4 stars. They do have a full bar. We had pop so I can't tell you how the drinks are. I did see a lot of margaritas being served. We shared steak and salad and the zucchini appetizer. It was good. I probably will give it another try. Enjoy!
