Awesome KJ on Wednesday night when I met some friends for Karaoke. Food was slightly better than expected. Bar tender was super nice and was our server too. I expected the place to be a dump from what it looks like on the outside but I was pleasantly surprised, it smelled fine, no residual smoke from past glory days. Lots of space for sitting at tables or the bar, playing some pool or video games, not sure if there were darts, but I probably missed them, seems like the kind of place that would have darts. Restroom was even okay. Best of all, they have a parking lot. So in review, It is a dive bar, but it ain't a dump. I'll go back for Karaoke anytime my friends are up for it.

Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was that Suki's smelled funky. However, I decided to give it a shot. The bartendress was super nice and the menu was interesting. The service was good and the food was decent. My two biggest complaints are the smell (which changed a few times and wasn't pleasant) and once our food came, our table was swarmed by gnats. Seems like this bar could be really fun and has great potential, but has a few flaws that deter one from returning. Maybe I'll give it another shot, but I won't be dying to go back. I'd give it 2.5 stars if I could.

Awesome happy hour. Lots of food and drink for cheap. the food is pretty good, too, Bartender and patrons seem nice - not too sketchy, not too douchy. I look forward to checking out a karaoki night...

It's just around the corner from where I live and I'm happy that it's in the neighborhood. Reasonable prices for drinks and the food isn't that bad either, especially if you go for fries or tots with beer. I liked the TV's everywhere and the games, so I'll probably come back with friends for that reason. I'll admit, the karaoke was a bit annoying...but it was funny to hear some of the classics get butchered -- 2pac, Beatles, etc. The music was everywhere! Not a bad place at all. Consider it if this place is nearby.

Amazing karaoke Wednesday thru Saturday. Great drinks, great food, and staff is great too! Monday Trivia is super fun for all. Tuesday's Comedy night can be awkward, but has a fun charm (and sometimes big names show up to do surprise sets!). I recommend the sweet potato fries :)

Did not enjoy anything about it. It stinks, cheap, poor drinks and food. Did I mention how bad it smells?! Don't go! Plenty other bars that are much better by far!

They provide parking, and they have booze. The place itself is run down, dirty, and not at all visually appealing. This dive bar has a limited selection on tap, and evidently it takes over an hour to swap out an empty keg. Also, table service is painfully slow, so if you must go here, order at the bar. The food is mediocre as well.

One of the best dives on the West side. By far. They usually have something going on every night. Tuesdays are comedy, which is great because its free and sometimes big names drop by and do a short set! Other nights are Karaoke with award-winning KJ, Dick, who sings its Raining Men sometime around half past ten..... Bartenders are awesome. Brad and Nicki hook me up fat with heavy pours and the chilled pint glasses are becoming rarer and rarer in Portland for some reason. The pool table is great, and open a lot of the time. I don't know if it still free. It's great size (non-arcade, 7.5') and is positioned in a non-awkward part of the bar. The location of this place is awesome. Right off the highway/barbur/4th, 5th, 6th & Broadway can all get you here as well.... My favorite bar with my favorite bartenders from my 3 year stay in Portland. I miss Suki's!

Great little dive bar - fun karaoke, good drinks - the only complaint is it seems like every time I go, something smells really bad and it's not the bathrooms. First it smelled like someone poured vinegar all over stinky feet, then last time the karaoke books smelled like someone pissed all over them. Other than that, I totally dig it.

I'm not sure how many other Travelodge's have great little college/dive bars underneath them, but I'd wager that Suki's would be the best. My friends and I are regulars here immediately following any of our runs downtown, waterfront, Terwilliger, or the track oval across the street, and it never disappoints. It's got your normal good Oregon selection of beer, friendly bartenders, a strong juke box, a solid array of TVs, and a pool table. The food is almost always equal to and usually better than you'd expect coming out of a joint below a Travelodge and the happy hour prices for food/drink are solid. I've got some blurry memories of being here later in the evenings when it gets quite a bit more crowded and lively for karaoke. If you live in the area and are lookin' for a comforting watering hole or, like us, seeking to maintain balance in your life with beer n' tots after a long run, give Suki's a try!

Love this bar! Went here on my 21st as part of my 21 run and it was a blast! The staff was super accomidating with our large group of people and our drinks! And i have to say the Karaeoke was the BEST! so much fun! I also went there on a Tuesday for the comedy night! also super fun :] Great atmosphere, and it's right down the street from my house!

I was there on a Friday night. I'm writing because even though I was goofy drunk, the girls working the bar treated me as a sober, normal person. They were great, listening to what I wanted, making it up to me when a mistake was made (ordered vegetarian asian nachos, which are ammmmmmmmmazing! but received them with chicken, they let our group keep the mistake and make a new one!) and didn't mistake my playful demeanor as being an asshole. will. go. back for the karaoke and free pool!

This place is great. Super chill. The service is OK. but the Happy hour, oh man those Asian fusion beef tacos are damn hear gawdly!! My mouth is watering as I write this for some. Good Karaoke, good TVs. Cheap drinks. Good times. Not my favorite bar but one of the better ones in Portland.

I was pleasantly surprised at their food honestly; very fresh and delicious. It's fairly divey in the ambiance department, but that's not always a bad thing! The only thing I would say, is skip the comedy night; wow that was rough!

So Sukis got rid of the karaoke tip thing shortly after my last review, and they got rid of the gun pours recently as well...hence they get another star. Great secret dive bar with awesome regulars and good staff. Karaoke is what it is, but Dick is a great Karaoke DJ with lots of personality. The bar staff is great, I noticed that someone said that they were stuck up on another review but that has NEVER been my experience. This place values its clientele and takes really good care of it's customers. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

When you crave a good hamburger, you don't immediately think of heading out to a dive bar, let alone one that fills the space of a motel's basement. But there's a nearly religious phenomenon that is happy hour in Portland, and it somehow transforms deal-seekers into explorers of the city's great gastronomical unknowns. For example, it drives a group of twenty-somethings to Suki's Bar & Grill -- which shares its parking lot with a dingy Travelodge -- for a Friday afternoon of cheap eats and fairly priced pints. Suki's, south of downtown amid a web of busy one-way streets, doesn't seem to mind its less-than-desirable location. It offers weekly karaoke and open-mic comedy nights, and those are only two of the 30 reasons for an outing at the spacious den-like hideaway (free pool, anyone?). Its happy hour menu should be No. 1 on that list. A third-pound Angus beef burger -- with fries -- for four bucks? That would be an acceptable deal for a bad burger. Granted, this is obviously a pre-made patty without much flair, and the fries are salty even by dive bar standards. Still, the food pairs quite nicely with a lemon-spiked Pyramid Hefeweizen, satisfying palates and wallets. You'll get for $7 what would easily pull at least twice the cash during regular hours at some other establishments. Suki's is miles from patty paradise, yes, but its overall value means that it suffices as a satisfactory stop along the way.

Awesome Dive Bar in SW Portland. Great Staff, especially Nikki, Mickey and Chelsea! They all know how to have fun and are great company. Grab a chair at the bar with the regulars and enjoy your drink of choice. Breakfast is always awesome! I love to come in before class and get breakfast and do my homework (lots of outlets!) Pancakes are fluffy and eggs are never overcooked. They also have really delicious vegetarian sausage that is awesome when scrambled into an omelet! I love Suki's!

This is the second time I have been there. The first time (4 months ago) the chicken sandwich was so bad I didn't eat it. The bartender comped it and the beer I had. So I left them alone. This time, I not so nice. I 'm so hungry that I'm going to sit through Karaoke just to eat close to home. Karaoke is my Kryptonite. Don't dig it at all. I go in at 8:50. I ask for a PBR and a menu. She say's the BBR's are $1 till 9pm. Cool I'll take 1, thank you. Then hand's me the menu's, "this one is good for 5 more minutes, and this one (happy hour) starts in 5" OK. With the happy hour menu in my hand, at 9 pm I order the $5 chicken Teriyaki ( I know what your thinking) after asking if it was good. 40 minutes later she brings it out with a togo order that was placed 30 minutes after mine. Chicken edible sort of ( I was starving, only 1 small bowl of pasta all day), carrots (the frozen kind) were cold, but the rice was a ball of over cooked over hydrated rice paste. You could build houses with it. I never understood how anybody who calls themselves a cook can put something on a plate they wouldn't eat themselves. So all I ate was the chicken. I asked for the check. She asked if I liked my food, and I said NO. She say's oh, that's $10. "Wait I ordered the happy hour Teriyaki". No she says you got the lunch. Thanks for telling me what I got, but it isn't what I ordered and it isn't good like you said. And not once while I was waiting for my food, did she ask me if I want another beer. I pay, I tip, I leave. Not before telling her to have the "cook" try the rice. Bad food, bad singing, indifferent service.

Oh, Suki's. I'm not 100% sure how to feel about you. Yes, it's a dive bar (I love dive bars, so no worries there.) But there is something... missing. Or... something!? Okay, let's just get to it: -Quite possibly one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. (Made by Michael.) It was, however, very, VERY salty. At first I regretted not asking for a salted rim, but after a few sips I realized it would have been overkill. But it was stiff and delicious. -HH until 8pm, and the food was good. Not great, but good. The tator tots ($2 for a basket during HH) also seemed overly salty (and I like salty), but cooked to perfection. My friend enjoyed her potstickers (you can get them steamed or fried). They gave me so many fries with my polish dog (which I enjoyed) that I couldn't finish them (and I think the meal was $3?) My bf got the burger, he said it was basic, but good. That also came with a pile of fries for $4. -Open mic comedy night was pretty funny. It's open mic, so you're gonna get some really bad comedians mixed with some really good ones. But overall, good times. (Although it would have been better if they started on time. It IS on a Tuesday and some people, *ahem* have to work in the morning.) ;) -Free pool! -The bartenders that we dealt with were hella cool, and served a nice, stiff drink. Brad made me a Black Opal that my (former) bartender friend said "Oh! That is too light! It has too much alcohol! Do you want me to get something to mix with it?!" Umm. No. Thankyouverymuch. Yum nums. On the downside: -The whole place smelled like a bathroom. -Then I went to the bathroom and discovered why! The bathrooms smell worse than any port-a-potty I have ever been in. WHY? Why, Suki's?! It's gross. Fix it. Please? -$2.25 PBR's, even during happy hour? Really? I mean, I know it's still cheap for a tall boy, but in a city with $1 PBR nights in bars all over town (especially weeknights, which was when we were here), can't you at least lower your price to, say, $1.50 during happy hour? I dunno. I think it'd be nice. -And then there's that "something" that I can't quite put my finger on... Maybe it's the layout of the place? But there is a sort of disjointed feeling about it all. Anyway. All in all, I'd say in a city that has so many fantastic bars/options for happy hours and karaoke and pool... I don't think I have any reason to go back to Suki's. I wouldn't *not* go back. But I wouldn't personally make any special plans to go there, either.

My definition of a Good Dive Bar: "Neighborhood joint w/lots of local, friendly characters; dark & a wee dingy; some sense of history and pride, with photos, etc. covering most wall-space; charming bartenders who hit the bar for a drink when they're off shift; stiff drinks at reasonable or cheap prices; no happy hour B.S. - just cheaper drinks before 6-8PM. And no Krapaoke." Suki's has a lot of Good Dive Bar qualities. The happy menu is excellent and the food is extremely good for the cheap price. The happy hour drinks are cheap, and the free-pours are always strong. Some interesting characters hang out, although it's mostly aggro stuff (dives should be friendly, IMHO.) The bartenders are super-nice, helpful, charming, and remember your name, and just play Pandora by typing in a random band name they like. I always leave before 9PM before Karaoke or open-stage "comedy" or "poetry" readings start. Great place to from late-afternoon to 9PM any day of the week.

Karaoke alllways sounds better after you've been roofied. Come for the booze, stay for the passionate wailings by wobbling amateurs. The only example of an 80's dive bar I've seen in Portland.

If you want a bar that feels like Los Angeles, New York, Ibiza, Studio 54, and the like--well, this place isn't it. In a nutshell, this bar is quintessential Portland. It's not the only one, but it _is_ one. It boils down to the people: most nights, they're diverse. Business professionals, teachers, students, artists, chefs and servers from other restaurants, veterans going to the VA hospital, gay/straight/bi/try anything--they all show up here. Express a little bit of kindness at the bar, and chances are good you'll end up having a pleasant conversation with someone. Overall, one of the lowest douchebag quotients in the area--with many guests and regulars being exceptionally nice. Well and call cocktails get a good healthy pour, with the chicken wings on Wednesday night being astronomically delicious (choice of ten flavors). It's also, perhaps, one of the best kept secrets for karaoke: for many years, Dick has been an efficient and helpful DJ. Possessing an almost encyclopedic knowledge of music, the book here is, from what I've seen, the best and biggest in town. And, unlike trends I see elsewhere, Dick is fair: he does not favor regulars, nor accepts bribes. Yes, it's below a Travelodge. Most regulars have driven by the place for years, and then "came in that one time--and stayed." If the treasures of a city are its people, the wealth of a bar is it's regulars.

It's an ok place. Fun for groups. I've been here a few times for karaoke, had dinner twice and the food was good. Crowd is crazy drunk all the time but that's the kind of local bar it is. If you're a good singer it really shows and they let you know!

i told my friend not to come here... but of course we had to try it out because "what if others show up?" we ordered the cajun tots, pork sliders, tacos, and something random during their happy hour none of them were worth noting... the place itself smelled and was dark and dank... i would not recommend it here

If you weigh under 200 pounds, two Mai Thais ($7) will get you crunked up. At happy hour (4-8pm), the drinks run a dollar off. I think $12 is a reasonable price to pay to get yourself in the "karaoke" zone. Because, really, karaoke is the reason I come to Suki's. And, it's a block from my job. Sweet. The food is typical greasy bar food. During happy hour, you can get a decent little burger with fries for $3. They also have tots, and will substitute for no charge! I love tots. Mmm. Potatoes. The karaoke is Thursday-Saturdays, starting at 9 and ends around 2 at closing. If you get there around 7:45, you can slam some cheaper drinks, eat your burger, and sift through the mountainous song books. Any song I've desired to sing at Sukis, I have rightfully sang. And the crowd is usually willing to sing along if it isn't too obscure, and will always clap, especially if you are attractive. A lot of creepy single dudes seem to kick it at the bar here almost every weekend. Yay creepy regulars. Oh yeah. I love the host. He's a fabulous adorable little gay sweetheart. I love gay men. He always sings the first song. He never pokes fun. He's very fair about the lineup. If you will wait out the rounds of everyone crooning, you might get to sing two or three songs depending on when you signed up, and if you are willing to kick it for 2 hours. It is a little divey, and in the first floor of a creepy motel.. but it's usually pretty entertaining. And if you considering rating yourself a 7+ on the hotness or singing ability factor, you will probably be one of the most attractive people in the room.

I went here two separate times. Once was a Tuesday. It was pretty dead in there, but it wasn't scary or anything. Plus I like dive bars. They have CHARACTER. The second time I went was on a Friday. It had a larger crowd and they were obviously doing karaoke, it being the weekend. At first all was fine. We put our songs in and waited around. What I began to notice though, was that I couldn't understand what the KJ was saying. I couldn't hear him call names. I thought maybe it was just me, because well, I am sort of deaf, but the other people at my table couldn't hear him either. So not only did I feel validated and in full hearing capabilities but I began to wonder if he had indeed called our songs but we did not hear him because we were there for close to three hours and never got our names called. It wasn't all that crowded and people did go up twice while we were there. So I blame the "wah-wah-wah-wah" sound system for not getting my Alanis Morrisette on. Let's see... maybe we can actually talk about the place instead of well, me. I liked the space and the booths. I liked its dive bar feel. I thought the staff was friendly enough. A bars a bar, right? And this was a bar.The beer selection, meh. But that happens. Nothing spectacular but nothing seedy... well, except the bathrooms were a little... icky. You know what would be my dive bar mecca? A dive bar in all its glory with the cleanest, eat-off-the-floor bathrooms. Does such a place exist? I do not know. But I want to go to there.

Bad food. Annoying karaoke (Is there any other kind?). Expensive drinks. Most of the bartenders are hot, but have the attitudes to match. Stuck up! The Monday night girl seems to be the exception, though. Cute and genuine friendliness. Cool room with tons of potential. Nice that there is a motel above the place for those extra crazy nights. . .

I dig Suki's. There's a parking lot and nearby street parking so it's easily accessible if you're driving. It's a bit of a walk from the last MAX station at PSU, and there's nothing else nearby. The bartenders are nice, there's a full bar with decent beer selection. Great customer service - I caught the end of a keg when ordering a pitcher and the bartender just gave it to me. Woot! One thing that I noticed about Suki's that is different from other places is that it clears out earlier in the night, before closing time. *shrug* Karaoke is ok. The song books haven't been updated, and the kj is kind of anal about certain things (ie: take the book to your table to sign up, or he says he'll make you wait longer... really? yes really.). On the plus side, he does rotations. The food is alright and the portions are good. I certainly wouldn't drop by just to eat, though it's also not the worst bar food I've had. Dining at Suki's is more of a convenience than a purpose. I have tasted and approve of the fries, chips and salsa, mac n cheese, dinner salad, and mozzarella sticks. Yes, this is a dive. I mean, it's below a Travelodge! Hellooo? But for what it is, this bar does it well. No, the bathrooms may not be clean, but at least there are disposable toilet seat covers and soap for you to wash your hands. Isn't that what really matters? Suki's KJ, Dick, would call this place is "absolutely fabulous". But then again, he also says that about everyone right after they sing (the good, the bad, and the terrible). I'd say it's just swell.

I have a long and storied history with Suki's--I started going there in 2005 and have had some great times there. Some very nice, oddball regulars (I'm including myself there), and I got to know the bartenders. Plus, the karaoke (with the truly awesome Dick) was epic. A couple years ago, however, things changed a bit. There was a lot of turnover with the bartenders, which was unfortunate. No fun being a regular and then treated like a newbie every couple of months. Plus, they replaced the carpeting with hard flooring, which means the place is MUCH louder than it was before. The other problem is that it got very popular--yay for them, not so much for me--especially for BIRTHDAYS. Dick has a pretty time-consuming birthday ritual, plus the birthday person gets preferential treatment when it comes to singing. If there are two or three birthdays in a night (which can definitely happen), good luck if you want to sing more than once in four hours. I don't want to totally knock it--the staff is great (if they stick around), the food is pretty good dive eats, and the drinks are strong. If you hit Suki's on a slower night, it's great!

Ok, I'll admit this from the start; this is a tough place for me to review with total objectivity. From the very moment I first walked in the door, Suki's just sort of started to grow on me - not in a bad way like a malignant fungus or a waxy build-up, but in that good "Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name" kind of way. (That's from the show "Cheers" for the younger Yelpers out there.) So what drew me in, pinned me down and force-fed me mind controlling nanomachines that keep me coming back again and again and again? Well, did you ever have that good friend growing up who, when you would hang out at his house, would have you hang out in his parent's finished basement where he kept the NES and Commodore 64? It was never a RECENT finish - more like it was finished in the late 60s / early 70s and they never bothered to maintain it except for the wiring and a new coat of paint now and then. Well, that's what Suki's is to me - a throwback to my childhood when I was carefree and hanging out in my friend's basement, just having a good time. That said, I've been as regular a patron as my commute will allow, and have never wanted for good company and good times at Suki's. The people are chill, the staff is more awesome than a signed complete David Bowie discography (ok, better not oversell it...) and the food... ...well, it's bar food - stable, consistent, great when you're drunk and in sufficient quantity to soak up excess booze. Still, come on, you're not there for the food! You're there to hang out, have a drink (or nine) and just forget about the outside world for a time! Oh, and just in case you're having trouble with the last part, Suki's has you covered with regular events: Tuesday nights are open-mic comedy nights, and... [DISCLAIMER: Ok, time out, let's talk about open-mic comedy night a little bit: make sure that when you show up, you are NOT necessarily looking to laugh. The regulars from Harvey's Comedy Club will rarely disappoint, even when they are testing out new material, but some of the people who just jump up...WOW. I mean, take the least funny person you have ever known in your life, liquor them up and hand them a microphone - yeah yeah yeah, hilarious as a sideshow, but you won't be laughing at any punchlines....should there even be any...ok, time in.] Karaoke on the weekends is also a blast, with a massive selection of songs to choose from and a fair (and bribe-able!) KJ...it's a good time for everyone, and I guarantee that any inhibitions you had when walking into the place will melt away your first time on the floor. I've met a lot of cool people at Suki's, and as far as dives go, they are at the head of the pack. Play some pool, some video poker, have a conversation, or hey, order a "Curaga" (Sky, Malibu, Midori and Sprite) from the bartender and just kick back...whatever you do, many have called Suki's "home," and maybe you will, too.

I have been here a couple of times and always walked away with a bitter taste in my mouth. This place is a dumpy dive bar that that I just can't embrace to enjoy. The place is kind of big and the dance floor isn't too bad. The DJ is terrible; he will be cool at first, then become a total douche by the end of the night. You will be lucky if you get to sing your song when you put your request in. Doesn't matter if you tip too; he favors the regular hags and dumpsters that troll in on a daily basis. I even peeked inside "their kitchen", so gross and looks very unsanitary. There are better places to karaoke and where you'll feel more appreciated.

I've been going to Suki's for almost three years. My Fiance is a deep seeded regular there (and has been for close to four years) and although I've only gotten up to sing twice, it's a place most people would be comfortable enough to sing. There is a great mix of really amazing singers and people who are not so amazing, but everyone is supportive and it's no big deal if you make a blunder on stage. The new college age hipster crowd that has recently moved in is both pretentious and very annoying, but they are a small crowd of very thin girls who mostly stay in their little corner and glare at the regulars. (or write reviews about how frumpy and middle aged we are) In this bar, you can choose your side, and it's very easy to be welcomed by the 'regulars' crowd. Drinks are on the inexpensive side and poured very heavy. The Bartenders are super nice and put up with a lot. On weekends they have Karaoke! The KJ, Dick, makes it very fun and all inclusive. Dick makes sure to rotate in new-comers with the people who have been there awhile, that means that you will sing shortly after you arrive, and are sure to still get rotation even if a bunch more people show up later. It's really nice. I highly recommend Suki's, it's very cozy and can be a total blast!

Came here for Karaoke and got people on their feet with "Dr. Jones" by Aqua. Yes, please! My group each got to sing once or twice, but we got there early and tipped, so I don't know if that makes a difference...either way, it was fun and it got packed quickly! I'll be back for sure.

I am a Suki's regular and I'll admit, it's a toss up most nights as to whether or not it will be fun. But that's mostly dependent on the crowd. The bartenders are delightful and I want to hug them both. They're snarky, fun and as quick as can be. The food is pretty good, actually. I usually don't order food, but when I do, I get the hummus plate. Aaaand the karaoke...well, what can I say? What's the old joke? Karaoke is Japanese for "tone deaf drunk with a microphone." Yes, that is often true here. And well, Dick is Dick. He tells everyone they were "ab-solutely fabulous" and he always sings "It's Raining Men." at half past !0pm. That's just how it goes.

Suki's is one of the few bars within walking distance of my house so I will most likely continue to stop in there on occaision. However, I never really enjoy myself there. They don't have a large beer selection (Bridgeport is the only IPA on tap - which I think is a crime in this city). It's ridiculously smoky in there. I haven't tried the food, so can't speak for it, but the dingy decor makes me afraid of consuming anything that doesn't have alcohol in it to kill the germs. Free pool all the time is a bonus but it's one sad scuffed up little table. If you are a karaoke fan, it could be a fun time as the menu selection is huge. The KJ is good about slipping new singers in before others sing again. When I was there this past weekend I got really annoyed with the KJ's flamboyant overusage of the word "fabulous." Don't get me wrong, I love me the word fabulous. But when it's used multiple times after every good, bad or mediocre song, I really just want to shove the damn microphone in his... Sorry, I won't continue that thought on this review. I wouldn't go out of your way to visit Suki's - however if you find yourself in the neighborhood it's not completely without.

Good for breakfast; didn't eat any other meal there. Decent beer list.

The KJ (or I as call him, Gay-J) told the audience I was, "super fab and pure sex." Obviously I will be going back to Suki's on karaoke night. My only complaints are that people were singing obnoxious ass shit back to back to back. That and by the time they called my name I was mindlessly obliterated cuz what the fuck else can you do but drink beer and wait. I suggest going on a less crowded evening. In summation I would like to end this review with a quote from a pure genius... "oh Suki... my lil Sukes" --Jerri Antonia Blank

More of a slightly upscale dive bar. The bartenders and server were very nice and the place was open, clean, and had a pool table. Karaoke here was a blast and I would definitely visit again.

You know that age-old bathroom graffiti scrawl? "For a good time call ________"? That's the best descriptive I can come up with for Suki's: it's just that lightheartedly sleazy. I've had amazing nights here, and I've had abysmal nights here at this little hotel dive bar within staggering distance from PSU campus. I've seen bar patrons gather around cross-legged on the floor, drunkenly singing along as a dude on a stool sang "Puff the Magic Dragon," I've seen -the entire crowded bar- burst in to song for the chorus of Sweet Caroline, only to come back another night to be witness to the worst, lamest, most after-school drama-fests you can imagine from the regulars. And yes, this place does have its devotees. They'll be the loud middle-aged frumpy ones in the back, complaining at the top of their lungs about the "hipsters" (ie. everyone else) invading their "scene." So, go at your own risk. Every Thursday-Saturday (karaoke nights) is a gamble at Suki's. Oh and the KJ will not take bribes but he most certainly does play favorites. The bartenders on the other hand, put up with an unusually high amount of neurotic customers, and deserve mass amounts of love.

Frightening, dumpy, scary and good if you want a freek show, , drunken mess, wasted people, shitty beer list and then there is the singing. Cheap ok food was the one salvation. Run

Apparently the bartender is unable to serve two hot girls at a table because he's texting on his phone while we're trying to get his attention for 20 minutes for him to take our drink order. YES, DRINK ORDER. Made our drinks pretty weak, took forever to get those to us, now I'm hungry, can you handle my food order? No, because he practically ran away from us after he served us our drinks. So I had to go up to the bar, order our food and half an hour later, we get our fries and salad... After reading some reviews on here, I don't know if it was an off night or what was going on, but I was severely disappointed after looking at these reviews and expecting at least decent customer service.

This place is a dive, pure and simple, and as such expectations must be modified to fit the reality of its nature. And, as such, it has its good points and its bad points. I think my pros are that the pool is free, most of the bartenders are friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced (for typical Portland dive well fare at least), the happy hour menu is fabulously cheap, and the KJ is very charming and encouraging. The cons are that the patrons are among the more degenerate and deranged among the inner-Portland dive demographic, that the food is at best decent bar food and is at worst "barf food", and the atmosphere is one of those that exudes "where dysfunctional ghouls shamble slowly into their graves". All in all, though, it's not so bad, but expect more color than quality in company and don't expect the food to be much better than you'd find at a Wendy's.

Stand up and belt it out Suki's Bar and Grill is a fun place to hit later in the night when you're tipsy and don't care how horrible you'll sound singing Madonna in front of an equally buzzed crowd. It's also a good spot to eat a hearty breakfast after a night of partying. Although they offer basic pub fare such as hamburgers and sandwiches, stick with their all-day breakfast. There's nothing like some scrambled eggs, buttery toast and greasy potatoes to help ease the effects of a hangover the next day. If you love karaoke and jamming with some friends, this is a place for you. Tip: Check out their website for upcoming events.

Ah man! This crowd just didn't get my rendition of Big Poppa by the late Notorious B.I.G. (Rest in Peace). I wasn't feeling much about this place, especially the luke warm crowd. I think the drinks were kind of cheap. That, however, doesn't make up for the fact that the DJ was a monster nerd with no charisma what so ever. The only good part about this place was the brother next to me screaming about the DJ not taking a bribe and then demanding that the bar "needed" him. Alas, he had never heard of Big Poppa. *sigh* I break out into hives thinking about it.

On comedy night, the fruit flies were much funnier than the comedians (granted, the comedians were out numbered) and way sexier than the bar tender who had his shirt unbuttoned to his sweaty belly.

Pretty fun place, usually can score a seat without a problem. Food is pretty tasty, decent beers on tap too. The karaoke can be way too loud if you sit in the wrong part of the bar, and while the crowd is usually pretty good there's a couple of assholes who have gotten their kicks heckling people when I have been there. Good selection of songs though, including stuff that wouldn't usually be karaoke fare (musicals!)

I went here last night for a couple late night taco's and to watch the roundup of the election results. However, what I got instead was a god awful amateur comedy night...every one of the "comics" were drunk, more than a little socially awkard, and kept making fun of either a black man's anatomy (or rather I think they were complimenting it, idk) or weaving together Jedi warriors with the ever-hilarious topic of Diabetes...still don't know what the hell that was all about...I didn't have anything to drink other than water, and I couldn't finish the taco's - which weren't bad - fast enough...

I've only been here a couple of times for trivia, and it's not a bad place! The service isn't spectacular but better than I expected for a dive bar. I've only had one thing off the menu and it was good, but the prices on everything seem a bit steep for the atmosphere. One cool thing: you get $2 off the price of a pitcher when you play trivia - can't beat that! The parking is limited, so be aware of that. I'd come back, but probably only for trivia.

Great food especially the K-Tacos and Wings. Best Bartender and KJ in Portland. Be sure to check out the Comedy Open Mic every Tuesday Night.

I had the absolute WORST worst worst experience here and I will not go back until the establishment hires a new DJ. He was the biggest TOOL i have ever had the displeasure of meeting. We had just finished celebrating my bros graduation from dental school and wandered down from the hill to sukis to continue our festivities. We put in our songs and wait patiently 1hr for them to come up. First up, my bro and his wife, everyone is dancing their pants off. Next song, me and my bf sing Vitamin-c Graduation, so terrible yet so timely. Next up my sister, she has signed her name as Gonzales and the DJ says um I am going to have to skip this one and let others have a turn because too many of these have Gonzales on them. WTF? I understand that policy if it is the same person trying to sing over and over again but I come from a big family and we all coincidentally have the same last effing name. needless to say there was much booing, to which he replies, I'm done talking about this you need to talk to the bartender if you have a problem. Which we do and she comes over to talk to him to ask him to let my sister sing. Still there is no resolution. That guy could have easily saved the situation by letting her sing, to which we would have all cheered, instead he let his power get to him and insisted he was correct. He was like the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of kareoke djs. Since he could not admit to his folly we decided to take our business elsewhere. Please do not waste your time here, there are sooo many other awesome kaeroke dj's in portland who we should support!
