I woke up late this morning thinking I'd get a nice relaxing brunch. Instead they rushed me on with more haste than a McDonalds. Not ideal breakfast service. Amazing Dungeness crab eggs Benny though. But then again I could just go to a food cart and get bigger portions for less dinero

At Milo's on Monday... Excellent, Attentive, warm and welcoming staff ... Bread was good, they have black butte from Deschutes brewery was awesome to accompany my steak.. I also hear the potatoes and salmon were delicious... It seemed Very pricey for a Applebee's type environment ... Decent food it will always be a good back up option

Go there for the excellent food, stay for the snappy service, and return again and again for the nearly-perfect eggs Benedict. So good-they have like 6 varieties and their hollandaise may be the best in town. Go there now.

We were looking for a simple neighborhood cafe with good food and - more importantly - decent bloody marys. Milo's fit the bill on both counts! Milo's serves a nice variety of breakfasts that run the gamut from omelettes and eggs benedict to breakfast burritos, hashes, french toast, and waffles. After much deliberation, I settled on the Blackstone eggs benedict, served with pepper bacon, tomatoes, and Hollandaise sauce. The eggs were perfectly poached, with plenty of creamy yolk to coat the bacon, English muffin, and crispy breakfast potatoes that accompanied the meal. The tomato added a nice, tangy freshness to the meal. My fiance got a breakfast scramble with mushrooms and cheddar cheese, and was equally impressed. The bloody marys were made with an in-house mix and were a good contrast of spicy and salty. We had two each, so no complaints there. Service was friendly and efficient. Our waitress was one of those classic older ladies who has clearly been serving food for many years, and enjoys her job. She cracked jokes and answered our questions thoroughly and helpfully. We'll definitely be back!

The eggs benedict. That's all you need to know. Oh, the service was friendly too! Gets very busy on a Sunday though so be prepared to wait for a bit. Well worth it though.

So happy to have finally visited Milo's during the holiday weekend. After reading the reviews, had to order up the Eggs Benedict and was so glad I did! Easily one of the best and lightest tasting. Wife enjoyed her granola and loved her peach mimosa! Will definitely return.

Mac n Cheese - um, WOW!!! Salmon - decadent Berry Cobbler - That was it! I was scoping out a way to sleep in the booth so that I wouldn't be late for their breakfast!

This family friendly restaurant is known for it's breakfast, but I have to tell you their dinners are superb! The menu items are wonderful - tops being the chicken piccata and the tenderloin. Truth be told, we go in for the specials.... We have eaten at some very good restaurants and when Loren makes a similar dish it is as good or better without the extra cost for the fancy restaurant name. Milo's is always worth going to. Enjoy!

I was in the hood and decided to finally try out Milo's. I sure am glad I did. The service was very and and quite efficient. The place was steady busy but the wait was quite reasonable. It was hard choosing but we settled on a pepper omelette, french toast and a bloody mary. Everything was fantastic and the portions were just right. I am looking forward to going back for their signature eggs benedict.

Wonderful experience, food is amazing, and the owner takes the time to come to each table to make sure your dining experience is top notch! Staff is also very friendly knowledgeable, can't wait to come back for breakfast!!

I thought I would come back quickly after tryng the Marianne Benedict and try the Crab Cake Benedict and it was amazing also. It is now one of my go to places for breakfast.

My experience at Milo's City Cafe was primarily positive. We came here on a Sunday morning and the wait was not long so we stuck around. They have a good menu of breakfast items, particularly their offerings in the eggs benedict department stood out. It all sounded good but I went for classic which did not disappoint. I liked how they had offerings on hollandaise or bernaise sauce, which is a rarity. Portions were just right and I really liked how they did not pile on the potatoes, instead included a fresh fruit cup. My only complaint was the service at the beginning of the meal. Understandably it was somewhat busy but we had to flag our server down to order. At first, we thought the boy who took our coffee order was our server but instead, when we waved him down to order, he went to get our actual server. After our encounter, she was nice, friendly and check up on us frequently to ensure our coffees were topped up. If I were in Portland again, I'd probably explore my options but overall, this place is legit.

Searched Yelp for something close to home, diner-ish and not too expensive for a quick yet sit down meal, and this place surpassed my expectations. Not sure why I was under the impression after glancing over their website and skimming reviews that this place was an older diner, nothing to really write home about, but boy was I wrong. I got the smoked salmon benedict (the hollandaise sauce was what dreams are made of), fresh fruit & potatoes. My two friends enjoyed their meals as well and I picked out a few items I'd like to try when I return to Milo's. And for a Saturday, almost every table was full, but no wait... awesome!

My husband and I love coming here on Saturday mornings. It's always full, but we've yet to have to wait for a table unlike so many other breakfast spots in Portland. When you walk in you'll notice that it's clean and modestly decorated inside. They've got a great wait staff who has hot coffee for you in seconds and is always keeping it full. We always seem get the same server when we come in here and I just love him! Sadly, his name is escaping me. The food is consistently good. My husband has tried a couple of the egg benedicts variations they offer and has enjoyed all of them. Normally he gets the Blackstone with avocado added-as suggested by the great waiter whose name escapes me. I go back and forth between french toast and good ol' eggs + bacon. The french toast is pretty good- however, the bread isn't very fluffy, which is what I prefer for my french toast. It's served with syrup and a berry sauce on the side. The eggs and bacon are very tasty as well. I always order the eggs whites and they give you a ton! Bacon is cooked more on the well-done side but always very flavorful still. This place is good if you want fast service, good classic breakfast food and no huge wait on a weekend.

Ordered the cowboy steak, cooked medium but it came out closer to done but was still tasty. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I'd come back and give them another try.

Good Crab Benny! Flavor was solid, and the bernaise was good. Maybe a bit overpriced ($13.50). Eggs were large and rich, and poached perfectly. Potatoes were great as claimed.

Ate breakfast there this morning and it was great. Everything was great--our server had a great personality and was very helpful, the food was awesome (even my special request was honored) and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Next time we are in Portland, we are there.

Been meaning to get to this restaurant and glad I did! Really Sweet Restaurant! Passing by on my bike, it looks small from the outside, but it Big inside. Light, airy, love the tabletop with the black napkins. Before I could finish the nice bread and butter to snack on, out comes the food. Had the breakfast burrito, sitting there enjoying that and having round 2 food gasm overhearing the desert described to other customers 2 tables down. The lady with the red hair is a Hoot! She earns her tips! Friendly staff and am sure to be back here. (I has to follow through with the desert, such an eye tease could not go without tasting it). Yea, I Really like this restaurant!!

The service was great and so was the food. I just came for a quick bite and sat at the counter. I ordered the soup of the day which was some type of vegetable with meat. I also got ciabatta bread that comes with it for $3.50. Granted it was a cup of soup, but still a great deal and friendly service. I'll be back for breakfast.

While the greeting service was better than the waiter, the food was, meh... Had the omelette chorizo special and it was bland. Chorizo usually has lots of flavor with tons of spices and sometimes could be too hot (spicy). I think they added some salt and paprika to their ground beef and called it chorizo. Not a place for my repeat business...

Unfortunately, this place does not do it for me. The food is fine - nothing special. The service started off well - the guy who signed us on the list and the gal that brought us our coffee were great. It went downhill with our actual server. She was definitely not on her A-game. We were seated at the same time another couple was and they literally got their food before we were even able to order. We waited so long to order I was able to drink my entire cup of coffee. When she finally took our order she said something like, "Have you decided or would you like me to wow you?" I guess it was suppose to be cute but after waiting so long it was NOT. Hello, wow me by providing me with some decent service! Once she dropped off the food, she proceeded to crash and burn by making one of the WORST mistakes a server can make. She asked us if we wanted more coffee (my cup was still EMPTY)... and then NEVER refilled our cups. The next time she came back to the table was to give us the bill. Luckily the gal who initally got us the coffee swung by to refill us after about 10 minutes of waiting for it. Our breakfast at Milo's took 1-1/2 hours (with about 10 minutes to wait to be seated). Once we were able to order, the food came out within 10 minutes and we were done eating it in another 10min (we don't mess around). We basically sat around and wasted our morning away waiting for our server. For this (and the above) I give it a solid MEH.

Milo's City Cafe is a 70s vibe casual diner, which is perfect for breakfast and lunch. The staff are friendly, and the price is reasonable, although did had to wait a little while as it is quite packed. I love how everything taste so homey. I especially love the crab cake benny, mmmm delicious.

Too Many Chances-Never Again! Last time we were in Milo's the service was so atrocious that I received a personal apology from the owner, so we gave them another chance for Sunday brunch. We took my mother for her 85th. birthday. It was pouring rain and my husband dropped us in front and went to park. When we entered we were pleased to see that there was one table available, I told the young man hosting that we were a party of three and that a table instead of a booth was just fine. The Host said he had one table and would seat us if it was still available when the third person in our party was present. I told him that my husband was merely parking and had dropped us at the door because my 85 year old mother has trouble standing for long or walking too far. He replied, believe it or not, "that's great, if he gets here and the table is still available I can seat you." Well needless to say, a party of two walked in as we were talking and he said," excuse me, I need to seat these people" to my mother and reached past her for menus and proceeded to seat the party for two at the only open table for four. My soaking wet husband came in behind them and I told him what had just happened. He said,"wait right here, I'll go back and get the car." The ONLY chivalry we experienced that morning! Wish zero stars was an option.

The vegetarian hash is quite an economical dish for this establishment given that it consists of 92% potatoes and about 8% of tiny cut, crap vegetables. I thought my wife's 1/8 inch high, tasteless waffle was the low point until the hash arrived. Never returning because even a lowly MacDonald''s breakfast sandwich would outclass this junk.

We've been here 2-3x. This time I'm being more observant about why, and what. We sat down right away, we got served right away. The lunch hour was packed, but the service was quick. When we left, I told our waiter again, how fast the service was. . . in some restaurants there hardly no one there, but the service was long, but here there are a roomful of customers and they're being served FAST. He also told me, this chef is fast, but come over Thursday, we'll have the slow chef. . . Already then! I ordered the Fresh Dungeness Crab Cakes: northwest crab cakes served with sauce béarnaise, it came with small cut-ups of asparagus, and the tiniest carrots, diced onions & red pepper. I also have a side order of fruits. Having a cold, I want the lightest in the menu. He asked if I'd like the sauce for my crab patty, and I say yeah very little. Because I have a cold, my hubby who tasted my patty told me - it was spicy. OK, but they were excellent to me, didn't taste the 'spicy', because I would not have eaten spicy foods. To him, they were and he also was getting over a cold. He ordered the Milo's Burger: fresh ground chuck with caramelized onions, fresh herb mayo and choice of cheeses on a bun. It came with seasoned fries. He was happy with his meal and so was I. I hardly eat breads, but their bread came with softened butter, and I like their bread. You have to step outside a hallway, to get to the bathroom, which is another walk down the hallway for the Ladies' Room. Photos are on my profile.

Milo's has been my favorite breakfast place in town for many years. The smoked salmon benedict is the gold standard against which I judge every other benedict in the city. That's not to detract from their lunch or dinner menus, for sure, since everything I've ever eaten here has been stellar, I just tend to go there more in the morning, that's all. The food quality is always top-notch, the service is excellent, and there seems to be very little staff turnover, since the waiters have all been there for a very long time. The ambiance is casual but nice, and it's family-friendly. Their specials are always intriguing and excellent. Favorite so far? Swordfish carpaccio. I'm a big fan of Milo's, and I take every opportunity to recommend it to people and to bring friends there. Go see for yourself what the fuss is about.

Cute place. I was not impressed with my breakfast and I am pretty sure our waitress was drunk. I do want to give this place another chance but not during breakfast. There were fruit flies in my drink. My potatoes with my meal were extremely bland and dry. Maybe lunch here will change my next review...

My boyfriend and I were visiting portland for the weekend and wanted to find a great spot for eggs benedict near our hotel. We went on a Saturday morning around 11 and had to wait around 15 min.. Definitely worth the wait! Our waiter recommended eggs Benedict with pepper bacon and avocado, which was awesome. Not to mention the mimosas were adorable! Overall the food and service was amazing!

Amy was craving some delicious Egg's Benedict this morning, so after quick look online we decided on Milo's. It didn't disappoint. Even though we got here relatively late (10:00), we were seated right away and served almost as quickly. The service was impeccable throughout the whole meal. Now to the food... Amy got her fill in the form of the Marianne Egg's Benedict, petite tenderloin & béarnaise sauce. It was cooked to medium-rare perfection, the sauce was creamy and very tasty, and the eggs were poached just right, although the English muffin was pretty soggy. The potatoes were pretty standard and it came with some fruit as well, but the main dish was quite good. I got the Hash & Eggs Carbonara: pepper-bacon, onions, bell peppers, garlic, black pepper, & potatoes, topped with 2 over-easy eggs. The bacon was really good, cooked to a nice slight crisp texture which I really like. The potatoes, peppers, etc. were pretty basic, but mixed together it was all in all a tasty satisfying dish. It came with and English muffin, which was delicious when smothered with their homemade strawberry jam. The food was pretty good, the service was top-notch and the price was right. I'd definitely come back here.

Milo's has been one of our family favorites for breakfast for years. Until last weekend, when for the first time things did not go smoothly. Last weekend, I mentioned that my husband would be joining us and we were seated right away and told we could pull chairs up when he arrived. When I ordered his food, 15 minutes after ours, I was told they don't do add-ons but that they would do it this time, however it means we would be taking up a table for too long and that it was not fair. The waiter walked away holding his head and looking like this was a real problem. I wish they had just said we don't do this, b/c I was so uncomfortable that when he returned I said my daughter and I would leave when he arrived. When my husband arrived Red approached us in a very aggressive confrontational manner and said my husband and son could not sit there, it blocked the aisle and then said, can't you see we are busy. When I tried to explain the misunderstanding about adding chairs she dismissed me and told me they don't do that and it's not fair. In retrospect I totally get that it is can and did gum up the works but the staff was so rude, hostile and confrontational I don't think I will ever go back. It just doesn't seem like the same fun, family friendly place. Both of my children were upset and asked why they were yelling at us. My daughter and I did leave after my husband and son arrived, but not before Red approached us again to tell us that this wasn't fair but that we could stay. I kept trying to explain that I had told the hostess my husband would meet us and that we could just pull up chairs. All in all I arrived at 9:35 on Sunday, left at 10:05 and my husband and son ate and left by 10:35. After being told again by the server that they don't let people 'add on' because they will keep the table for 2 hours or more. I am so disappointed at the way we were treated after being regulars and honestly trying to work with situation. I will miss having breakfast here with my family and feeling like the staff were our friends and so sweet to our kids in the past.

Nice interior. High ceilings, lots of birch wood, and interesting paper paintings suggesting sea life encased in glass cases. I came here a little past noon today (Monday) and the restaurant was full, but I still scored a booth (Milo's has a "seat yourself anywhere" policy). I ordered the Apple Brandy Pork Loin from the red-headed waitress wearing black baggy shorts that went down to her calves. Her shorts reminded me that maybe seven or eight years ago, and only in Portland and nowhere else, I would see guys wearing pants (often denim) that would go down to their calves. In my ham-handed way with the English language, and not being from Portland and not knowing what they were really called, I christened them "Portland pants." I really thought as I took my first bite of the Apple Brandy Pork Loin that Milo's was going to skate to four stars. But it didn't quite work out that way. My dish came with squares of pork filet served with a dressing consisting of croutons and little pieces of apple. Also on the plate were mushroom couscous and a vegetable blend, comprised of broccoli the tiniest carrots and tomato (but since the pieces were small, the tomato might have been roasted red pepper). The menu advertises the Apple Brandy Pork Loin as a "dressing of apple, sage, onion, brandy, croutons and light cream." I initially thought it was delicious. But this dish also contained unannounced thyme, and as I ate, the abundant thyme became louder and louder and by the time I finished, it was blaring like a quartet of trumpets. I guess during the time at my table, the thyme began leaching into the rest of the dish and it overwhelmed all the other flavors. In the end, I was disappointed. On the other hand, the vegetables had a most excellent garlic flavor. The couscous was fine too. Along with my dishes I was served two hefty-sized slices of a feathery artisan bread, along with a generous pat of very soft and creamy butter. I was disappointed that after my waitress dropped off my meal (which did come in reasonable time) she never checked up on me, and that was the other thing besides the thyme that dropped this to a three-star review (but three stars still mean a decent experience!). On the other hand, the bus boys were on top of keeping my water glass filled and thanked me and said goodbye when I left.

I really love this place and have been coming for years. It doesn't matter what you order because it is all good. From the hash, to the scrambles or their specials. The staff is VERY ATTENTIVE...your coffee or water will never get low. Those bus boys are way on top of it. the wait staff is also very friendly and go out of their way to help you! Love this place!!!!

The food is nothing to rave about. Two stars based on food alone. Another over-rated, over priced breakfast cafe. I ordered a breakfast burrito to-go and my bill came up to a dollar more than the menu price. I asked the server about it and he said it costs an extra dollar for take-out orders. I would have been fine with this explanation, but then he goes on to say, "It's just that... every restaurant does that." EVERY restaurant? There are plenty of restaurants that DON'T charge extra for carry out. No need to lie about business practices. Your customers aren't ignorant. In fact, I order take-out very frequently in Portland and so far this has been the only place that charges extra. Come to think of it, this has been the only place I've come across in my life that charges extra for take-out orders. I don't mind paying extra charges but I don't appreciate being lied to my face by a dishonest server.

Nothing bad, nothing great. Had a variation on the corned beef hash that I have never seen before, and it was just potatoes, onions, peppers, square pieces of corned beef. Topped with 2 eggs over easy. Not really impressive. Flavors was bland to my taste but what the heck. I still finished my plate. My friends both had the egg benedict and they loved them. Place is clean and service wasn't very personable. Get your order, place food on the table, couple coffee refills and present your check. I know they are better places in town.

My staff and I would eat at Milo's every Wednesday if we could - love the chicken and waffles, and the always delicious loaded potato bowls. The challah bourbon French toast on Sundays is pretty much EPIC. Great staff (Kisha is such a sweet heart), delicious food, and a great local small business in the most adorable downtown. Worth the schlep down highway 99.

I used to be a loyal customer of MCC but that was 10 years ago...I recently revisited and was very dissapointed...First let me say the service hasn't changed over the years...The staff is friendly and fast and there is little wait time on food orders... The quality of the food could be much better...I ordered an egg-white omelet and the egg-whites were cooked to a tough and rubbery texture...There was no garnish on the plate, no parsley, no fruit and it looked very plain and unappealing...The omelet itself had full strips of bacon and blobs of cheese, it was not easy to eat... Their potato's are bland and unseasoned...Overall, if you want a top-notch egg-white omelet go a few blocks down Broadway to the Cadillac Cafe...They garnish their plates and their omelet's are the perfect texture...

If you go and they have the Crepe Suzette as a special get it. No, don't even think it's too indulgent or just not the right thing for breakfast, brunch or whatever...just get it. It's amazing and will hit the spot no matter what! Additional notes: -service is awesome -coffee is just right -prices are fair I have yet to try Milo's for dinner but I'm definitely looking forward to my next breakfast!

This is the only place I go for Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise is spot on, and poached eggs are runny as they should be. It's nice to finish the heavy meal with the cup of fruit. I have had their other breakfast offerings, and they indeed are good and don't disappoint - however I have a different favorite breakfast spot. If I want Eggs Benedict, I come to Milo's.

Milo's is one of my favorite places in town. Usually known for breakfast, it's also great for dinner. Unlike during breakfast or brunch, there is rarely any wait for dinner. Everyone is very friendly and the food is wonderful. You can get wonderful dinners in the $15-20 area or $8-12 dishes from the café selection. I particularly love the shrimp bruschetta and Hungarian mushroom soup. Make sure to ask for the specials, as they are generally very.... special. They have a small, but yummy selection of wines by the glass. If you are particularly adventurous, you might try the flaming cheese!

In search of a breakfast place near our hotel, we came across Milo's on Yelp. Friday morning so the place was not packed and we were given our choice of tables. Super friendly server who seemed like she knew everyone who walked in the door. Not being a huge traditional breakfast gal, I opted for the Monte Cristo and boyfriend had the corned beef hash. To maximize the egg-batter goodness, the turkey, ham and swiss sandwich was cut into triangles first, then battered and fried. Nice idea. Accompanied by a side of berry preserves and syrup, it was the perfect meal. A ramekin of fruit came with the meal, but the grapes and watermelon just seemed sort of tired and perhaps had been sitting there a couple days. Although not a hash expert, it wasn't your typical shredded corned beef, mooshed up potatoes and onions conconction, but rather fried potato cubes, sauteed with onions, peppers, and strips of corned beef. Sitting atop were two jiggly fried eggs. Must have been good because everything was gone. Pretty reasonable prices and is probably the sort of place that gets packed on the weekend.

Love this place. A bit scrappy and disorganized (when you come in you just kind of look around for someone to catch your eye, as there's no real waiting area), but the service is so great and friendly, and the food is good. The guy who pours the water was a bit aggressive at looming around a lot but more I think out of inexperience than intention. Open faced shrimp melt is SO yummy, and I've been a fan of their mushroom soup for years. This place is VERY busy at lunch so glad they have a lunch counter as well to get seated!

I popped in on a Saturday morning, eager for a good breakfast. Milo's has a lively, bright atmosphere. The place was packed, so I opted for a quick take-out order. I ordered the megan's Monte Cristo ($8.95 + $0.50 take-out fee): a three-layer French toast sandwich stuffed with ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese, dusted with powdered sugar and served with jam. I also received a small container of maple syrup and a side of fresh fruit.. The French toast was cooked perfectly here, a lovely golden brown. The right proportion of savory ham, turkey, and melted cheese. The jam, syrup, and powdered sugar nicely countered the meat and cheese. Nice job on the fresh fruit. If anything, I felt it was an extremely small portion for about $9. Milo's also has a very impressive menu for lunch and dinner. Milo's is a favorite stop for many, and I can see why. I'll have to try the lunch and dinner options in the future.

This is my neighborhood go to place. I take breakfast here, (eggs benedict), I meet clients for lunch (pulled pork), and have amazing special diners with my sweety (fried greek cheese, passable wines, and a good steak when I need one. I cannot say enough about how friendly everyone is. I have never had them refuse to seat me when a person was missing from our party. Thanks to Milo's fpr being in my sphere.

My wife and I had a solid breakfast from here. We had gone to the other cafe up the road before, but found Milos to be better. I love myself a greasy spoon and Milos did not disappoint. The staff was nice and we were seated right away, but I'm sure there is typically a wait.

I came to Milo's by luck and how lucky I was..... There was a wait of course, there always is for a meal at a great place. I love breakfast and I am always in search of a great breakfast place. Whether it is in Washington, Oregon or New York. I was pleasantly surprised when I was on vacation with my wife in Portland. We by chance ended up looking for a place for breakfast and decided to check Yelp. What a find Milo's was for the two of us. Not only did I get to sit across from a beautiful redhead but a great breakfast. I had a spectacular egg dish and my wife had eggs Benedict with salmon. It was incredible and just the right portions. I would say that when I go back through Portland on tour I will make sure that Milo's on my itinerary.

Not sure why it took us so long to try Milo's, but I'm a fan now. The mushroom soup is legit, rich and flavorful, it's a one-of-a-kind treat. We had some of the daily specials and they were great. Just honest, well cooked and tasty food. Parking can be a challenge with it's location, so you might need to park on the side streets, but it's worth the effort. Can't wait to come back again!

Good solid breakfast. Came after another place had ridiculous wait. Awesome poached eggs and very good crab cakes. Not too load and just a 10 minute wait on Sunday morning at peak time. Very good value, average service.

Stopped in a a finish to our weekend away in PDX, Sunday morning for breakfast. We've eaten here once before, but that had been for lunch. We got seated immediately, in a booth no less. And within a few minutes someone was around to take our drink orders. Their coffee was really good, and hot. My wife had the breakfast burrito and asked that they add sour cream. I asked for the ingredients to the Santa Fe omelet, but in just a scramble form, not omelet. Almost before we could say jumpin jack flash, our breakfasts arrived. The wife's burrito, eggs, house-made chorizo and pepper jack cheese inside a freshly made flour tortilla, was served with a side of black beans and their homemade breakfast potatoes, which are to D-I-E for. My breakfast, scrambled eggs, the same chorizo and pepper jack cheese, was served with their breakfast potatoes and toast (homemade sourdough bread). Both were served with homemade salsa and guacamole atop the main dish. YUMMY!!! The place is small and quaint, a bit on the noisy side with a seemingly open kitchen. And it IS busy on Sunday mornings. But, they are FAST. From the waitresses, bus boys, to the chefs. All are fast, efficient and (I didn't interact with the chefs) friendly. It's the kind of place I'd frequent if it were in my neighborhood.

I was so happy a friend wanted to have some lunch here - well, she ordered breakfast while I had lunch. We did have to wait a bit because they were full up and their decor is not just simple - it is so open I almost felt on display. Their waitstaff was very busy and would forget things but were super nice about it. I had their hamburger which was pretty amazing. I tried to order a fruit cup to go with it but the waitress literally scolded me and demanded I have potatoes - I actually did not eat one of them and would have eaten the fruit cup but I know she meant it in fun. I was a little annoyed though since I really did want the fruit cup but the amazing burger made up for that.

My wife and I decided to have dinner somewhere on NE Broadway street when we stumbled into a quaint little cafe; Milo's City Cafe. AMAZING! Chris provided excellent customer service and the chef, Brandon, provided the BEST pan fried oysters that I have ever eaten! Well done! We will be back!

This place was so yummy! My friend and I both had the hot vegetarian sandwich with a side of Hungarian mushroom soup. They both were so delicious I'm sure I'll be dreaming of it for days! It was my first time eating here even though I live blocks away, & I'm so glad I did! My friend and I hadn't seen each other in at least 6 years and we got lost catching up and stayed 20mins after closing and no one seemed annoyed or anything, which was awesome of them, even though I felt bad once I realized. Milo's was amazing, great food and service. I'll definitely be back soon... (Probably tomorrow, who am I kidding) :)

What an enormous disappointment. My husband got the Salmon Benedict and I got the Corned Beef Hash. His Benedict was good. The hollandaise was very good, one egg was done perfectly, one egg was over cooked but not badly and the salmon was perfect. But the side of potatoes weren't just rubbery and hard, they were as cold as they would come out of a refrigerator! Really awful. The coffee wasn't any good either. My corned beef was fine but the peppers in the hash were mush and the potatoes, while hot, were hard and rubbery as well. Completely inedible. The waiter was the worst part of the whole experience. The only things eaten on my plate was the corned beef strips and the unburnt parts of my sourdough toast but I couldn't get the attention of the waiter and when he came by he just grabbed my plate, didn't speak at all, and walked away. He was constantly rude, impatient and actually tossed the bill on a plate onto the table as he walked by, knocking over the condiments in the middle of the table. I was astonished. It isn't as if he was busy, there were a paltry five tables in the whole place, with most occupied by two people or less. If anything on my plate had indicated that sending the food back to the kitchen would have resulted in a better dish, I would have. Or if I thought asking for the manager would make anything different, I would have. There was a steady lack of care throughout the restaurant. We thought we would pop in for a nice, not fancy, breakfast at a place with very good reviews but instead had a terrible breakfast with horrible service. The bus boy was courteous and prompt, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and the place was clean, but we have no interest in ever returning.

This is one of my usual stops before heading East to the Columbia River Gorge. The wait for brunch on weekends is long so go early to avoid the crowd. It can get pretty loud in the restaurant when it's full. The smoked salmon hash with eggs benedict is one dish that I like. Order the fresh orange juice...it really is freshly squeezed and not from concentrate! This is usually a breakfast or brunch place for me. I came here for dinner once and the food was a-okay, but did not find anything that was super outstanding. My major disappointment with this place is that incredibly, they do not offer the namesake drink of Milo (it's a brand of hot chocolate) which I absolutely love. KPI (Key Performance Indicators) ratings (1-5, 5 - best): Quality: 3 Delivery/Service: 3 Cost: 3

Loved this place. We were in town for a long weekend wish we had a restaurant like this where we live. We ate there 3 of the 4 days we were in town. The food was excelent and the servers are wonderful. Our server, Topher, was the best. Attentive, honest when asked a question about the food and good for a laugh.

Before the trip to Portland, we googled "Best Eggs Benedict in Portland" and this place popped up. And they were right!! We tried three different kinds (bacon, salmon, and crab cake) and all three were delicious! Friendly staff, not too long of a wait, and good breakfast potatoes (a must for any good breakfast place!). Would come back here again for sure!! YAY BENNIES!!!!!!!

I am Norm and Milos is my Cheers. It's friendly. Even though I've come regularly here for the past nine years, by my second visit I felt like an old timer, and sitting at the counter is never boring. I come for the Benedicts, the iced tea, the grilled chicken sandwich and the soups. Yum. Many positives. Only negative, wish there was outdoor seating for me & the dog and more changes with the dessert menu.

Found this place on Yelp while searching for a place to have brunch with a friend who needed to eat somewhere near the Lloyd Center. It did not disappoint! The wait staff are incredibly nice, the food is good (scrambled eggs w/smoked salmon and deeeelicious potatoes), and the interior is clean and relaxing. It's refreshing sometimes to go somewhere that isn't trying hard to be hip.

I've been here several times for brunch and the food is above average. then at a friend's suggestion, I tried the blackened chicken sandwich and Hungarian mushroom soup. both were as close to perfect as they could be. skip the long morning wait on the weekends and just come for lunch.

God I love this place. It was my neighborhood breakfast joint for YEARS. I love the staff and the food! Red is amazing and everyone knows her if you've been there. The only thing I could do without are the customers! Millions of stacked up yuppies with their kids making the wait times epic. However that is to be said about EVERY good breakfast place in Portland. What to do! Miss you Milos!

I am fortunate enough to live within walking distance of Milo's. These guys have the best brunch menu around. Their special benedicts are worth checking out, especially when they feature stone-ground mustard hollandaise sauce. Ask what the chef's daily "whim waffle" is -- they come up with some good stuff. My favorite item on the menu is the regular old eggs benedict. YUM. Service can be kind of slow sometimes, but overall it's not too bad.

This is my go-to breakfast/brunch spot! The staff are always attentive and friendly, even the guy who pours my water always has a smile on his face. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait on a Sat/Sun morning, but get up a little earlier and you'll be seated right away! They are quick to bring out your food, so that keeps the pace going in this place. The benedicts are ALL good, you simply can't go wrong! The rest of the menu always looks delicious, but honestly, I go for the eggs benedict :)

Ok, I've been in love with the salmon eggs benedict at Milo's since opening week years ago. And every other dish I've ever had there has been superb, as well. Took my Mom here a week ago for lunch and it was packed on a Tuesday. She loved her seafood linguini and I had a simple grilled chicken sandwich but it was very flavorful and juicy. So many places can't make a good tasting chicken sandwich unless you doctor it up with sauce or other toppings. (and I like mine plain) All in all it seemed high quality food and nice atmosphere. It was a little loud when the place is packed. The only downside was I really wanted the pulled pork sandwich but they said it was spicy and I don't do spicy so it would nice to have a non-spicy option. Looking forward to trying them for dinner. Where else can you get filet mignon for only $18!

Always a pleasure to ear here. Efficient staff that's charming and personable. The food is to die for good and not too expensive. It's a neighborhood gem. Try the burger(god damn!). Also anything "special" for the day is bound to be good. These people care about what they cook and thats very apparent from chef to server to bus boy. Milo's I love you!

I like breakfast and I loved Milo's. Creative, inexpensive plates were heaped with homemade deliciousness. The only problem I had was not being able to choose what to eat. I landed on the peanutbutter and chocolate waffle. Why not? My girl went with the eggs benedict with pepper bacon. The sounds she made while devouring her dish were reminicent of that cafe scene from When Harry Met Sally. Wish I could do that. You may have a wait at Milo's, but free coffee, a friendly staff and an orgasmic menu make it worth it.

Add this place to the growing list of overrated cafes in the PDX. It's not that the food was all that bad, but there was hardly any of it! Not just that, I was promised "thick-sliced" pepper bacon. THICK SLICED!! Instead I got 4 pieces of bacon that were so thinly sliced, I'd swear that they had Kramer from Seinfeld go at them for 10 minutes with his handy-dandy deli meat slicer. The handful of potatoes I had were quite good, but they lasted 15 seconds. If I'm going to pay 20 bucks for two people at breakfast, I'd better get more than a damn snack. If nothing else, don't lie to me about MY bacon!

Dinner for group of eight was unanimously excellent, entrees to dessert. Nice variety, something for everyone...Copper River Salmon, butternut squash ravioli, pork loin, New York steak. desserts also varied including Banana Split built on crushed Oreo cookies to wonderful chocolate cake with sauce choices. Milo's was recommended by the owner of our B&B, otherwise it would have been easy to just pass by this unassuming casual cafe atmosphere. Lucky for us, maybe that's why prices were great value for the dollar and no hassle getting a reservation for Saturday night. Definitely will return to check out other entrees.

Sometimes I think that I'm the odd one among Portland peeps. This place got four and five stars reviews, but I think it's only worth three stars. We went there for breakfast and we were starving. So we thought, YES FOOD! I got the smoked salmon scrambled and it was just alright. There's nothing special about it and it was pretty bland. The service was ok and it was warm in the restaurant. The price was pretty steep and I think the portion size doesn't do the price justice. Honestly, this place was pretty boring for me. Bland food, no excitement, no characters, no weirdos, no potheads, no yuppies, no hipsters (can't believe I complained that there's no hipsters), and just not Portland enough for me. I love my food tasty with spices and that's how I love my people too. Maybe I should try this place for dinner? Maybe....

Wow. I considered going here, but ended up wandering around. I ran into this place anyways, so went inside. I'm glad I did. I had the vegetarian entree and a side salad. The vegetarian dish was amazing. It's actually called that, which doesn't give it enough credit. There were a couple portobello mushrooms with caramelized onions at the center of the dish, a side of mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and zucchini and some sort of patty. Even the salad was great and tasted fresh. Also, my server was perhaps the nicest I've ever had. She was really friendly and made me feel really comfortable, despite the restaurant being a little upscale.

This is a good breakfast spot in Portland. I've never had lunch there. The portions are big and everything is tasty. I'd say the coffee is average, but certainly not bad. Service is good. There is a reason the place is crowded!

The place is great for a quick, cheap and tasty breakfast. The service was professional and the food was very tasty. Unlike their rival the Cadillac Cafe, at Milo's there usually is no wait for a table, but there are good reason's for that (see my Cadillac Cafe review). The table was not completely clean and I noticed that the host had a flat affect the whole time we were there. But, our server was very nice and she was prompt on our requests. I highly recommend the Sour Dough French Toast. The total including tip for a breakfast for two was $18. Extremely cheap.

Average at best. High traffic area, minimal off street parking. Our party of 4 went to Milo's on a Sunday late morning, very crowded, had a 30 minute wait. Only suitable for a party of 2 because of wait times and small tables. Very noisy, difficult to hold a conversation. Small portions, but great service.

I went here with family on (but not for) my birthday in January, and waitress Redd made it special (and she didn't know it was my birthday). She's remarkable and makes Milos memorably different. (And the meal was pretty good too.)

My husband and I used to eat here at least once a month because we loved their eggs benedict and the area is great for a lazy weekend stroll. But we wanted to try out different breakfast spots so it's been at least a year since we have last eaten here. I finally came back with my sister to meet up with a friend last Saturday morning. To my surprise it wasn't busy and there were even at least 4 tables free so I was looking forward to being seated without having to wait for the first time at Milo's! However, the host/server informed us that since our friend hadn't arrived yet, he was not allowed to seat us. So there we sat for the next 15 minutes, watching as the tables filled up around us. When our friend finally arrived we had to wait another 20 minutes for a table to open up. Although we would have liked to be seated when we had arrived (after all, we were just waiting for one more person) so that we could have ordered some drinks while we waited, we understand policy is policy so it didn't dampen our spirits. However, I was quite taken back by the quality of their food since we have last been here. I ordered the Blackstone Benedict which used to feature thick cuts of peppered bacon, but it came out rather like the cheap bacon you can get at Winco and pan fry at home! My sister got the Monte Cristo which was mediocre (it was a bit on the soggy side) and the portion was quite small for the price and didn't come with any sides other than the fruit cup (the fruit was not fresh, btw). And our friend ordered the Smoked Salmon omelete which was ok, but not spectacular. And our drink orders (mimosas and orange juice) didn't even have those colorful plastic monkey's hanging off the lip that they used to do before. All in all, the atmosphere is still fun (if you get a chance, check out the pictures lining the wall on your way to the restrooms), the service is a bit aloof, and the food is definitely not the same as it used to be.

We found this place by driving by when we were in the neighborhood one night and we were pleasantly surprised. The Greek salad with chicken was tasty and perfect to share as an appetizer. I had the butternut squash stuffed ravioli which I LOVED and the serving size was perfect for me!! My husband had the catfish special and he was a bit disappointed - we both though it should have been spicier and that the cornmeal it was coated in was a bit strong. He did eat the entire thing though ;-). Will try it for b-fast if we are ever in the neighborhood after reading reviews!!

Go to Milo's for a great time. Imagine it's cold, dark and rainy. You've been working all day, you're tired and hungry. All you want to do is curl up on your couch/bed and watch a movie while downing something delicious. If that is your current predicament I highly recommend the Hungarian Mushroom Soup. It is heaven in a bowl. Nirvana at your lips. And they do take out so you can order ahead of time and just pick it up. This place has great service, good bread, and the soup (Hungarian mushroom) is AMAZING. I've also gone here for breakfast and it's OK. I've had better, but it's good. If you MUST have one thing on their menu it HAS to be their Hungarian Mushroom Soup. When I was sick and my friend offered to bring me soup, I said go to Milo's (he didn't and I of course knew the difference. He knows better now). This soup can cure swine flu.

This review is based on two things: friendly service and attention to detail. The Moms and I went here before she took me to PDX. Our waiter was so friendly! I asked for the french toast, which on the menu came stuffed with peanut butter and jelly. He asked if I wanted the french toast stuffed or plain, and I jumped at the chance to eat it plain. Then he asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for a fried egg. He asked, "over easy or over medium," and I said again, "just fried," but he asked again, "over easy or over medium?" and I was like "what's the difference?" He then explained that "over easy" had a runny yolk and a bit of runny egg white right around the yolk, but "over medium" featured a fully cooked white. Ah-ha! As a personally professed foodie, I'm embarrassed to admit that I did not know the difference, but now I do! And, I can safely say that I've never been given that piece of information from any other restaurant I've ever been to. The french toast was good--nice and thick with a great crust on it, and the egg, though cooked to perfection, was too much for me to even finish. So, I've only been to Milo's once, but I had a great experience and would not hesitate to go back.

I'm only giving Milo's 4 stars because I have never actually ate any of their entrées. I always find myself walking in here after a long day of work craving something sweet. They always have the best suggestions to satisfy my craving. The staff is super nice, attentive, and very good with suggestions. The prices are perfect for anyone on a budget and you get your moneys worth. My only criticism is that they took a little long to greet me at the door, which really didn't matter too much to me. Also, they should have a dessert menu available even though they do a great job of describing them. It would just be helpful to be able to thoroughly read through the options. Overall this is a perfect, quaint place to grab a bite with a group or solo!

We stop here last weekend on our way to another popular place and I'm glad we did! First, there wasn't a crazy wait, but the place was packed. I guess they do a good job of turn tables without making you feel rushed. The food is great! I had a veggie omelet and it was great. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly! They also have several options for Egg Benedict which I plan to try next time.

This place is awesome. Our waiter was a "star"! Hustle everywhere! Food was delicious. If you are a fan of The BIG Breakfast, this is the place to go. Next time we visit PDX Milo's is definitely on our shortlist. They even made my oatmeal a special event, and that is hard to do with oatmeal!

I haven't tried the entire menu because all I ever want to eat when I come here is the mushroom soup!! Its so damn good, last time it arrived with "milo's" written in cursive cream sauce, a yummy touch although I did give the waiter a hard time, i was like no no you spelled it wrong, its l-a-u-r-a ha. maybe im being vain but why cant my soup come with my name in it? oh and the service is always quick and attentive here . . . i honestly had culture shock coming here after living in a year in germany where to be honest with you all, customer service doesn't exist!

I'm tempted to go with one star, but it wasn't quite an "EEK". Still, my stomach would like to argue. Sparing the reader my usual extensive details, let me just say that I opted to sit at the kitchen-view counter (and wish I hadn't) and, against my better judgment, decided to go with something different than my usual eggs and taters or corned beef hash. Ended up with the Steak Benedict, and I was sorry I had as I watched the dish being assembled. "hash browns" were potato chunks tossed in the deep fryer for quite a long while. Poached eggs were tossed into a big hotel pan of water and were cooked beyond hard. The steak, which was actually OK, was about 3 oz. Steak and egg plopped on a limp English muffin and absolutely set to swimming in what was euphemistically termed "Hollandaise sauce" - a bit reminiscent of Bearnaise, and apparently not the packaged junk, but it was stabilized to survive room temperature, was ungraciously dumped out of a half gallon syrup pitcher, and some 3 hours later still leaves my mouth tasting like it's been coated in plastic (I scrapped off as much as I could, but ate more of it than I would wish). In all, one of the poorest breakfasts I've been served in quite some time. To some extent it was my own fault for wandering outside the lines. But, despite the awards and articles of praise on prominent display around the restaurant (I noted that there were none that were particularly recent), this place rates a "Dive" on my personal scale of evaluation. From my perch overlooking the kitchen, I witnessed a marked lethargy from the kitchen staff. The Hispanic cook was tossing food into pans by the bare fist after bare fist, marching through his routine without any passion for his product or compassion for his customer. Toss, slap, slam, dump. And the results were unattractive, unappealing, and unappetizing. I saw a dozen dished served up that I'm wishing I'd followed my impulse and sent my dish back untouched, perhaps in favor of a bowl of cereal. As it is, my GI tract is letting me know that it blew it. Milo's may be some people's cuppa tea, but as for me, I'll not return. There are far, far better sources of breakfast fare out there.

Milo's is about 8 blocks from me. I've lived in this neighborhood for 16 months. I finally went last weekend... which gives you an idea of how excited I was to try it. The breakfast food was just what I expected and justified my lack of enthusiasm - there was lots of it, and it was good enough, but it wasn't over-the-top tasty to warrant another visit anytime soon. But the service? The service was amazing. AMAZING. I have a hard time finding amazing service in Portland, but these guys have it nailed. My coffee cup and water were never empty, the waitress made sure the eggs in my Eggs Benedict were OK and offered to take them back if they were too hard, and in an eerie Cheers-like way everyone knew and said hello to one of the women I was with who frequents the place. I am definitely curious about the PBJ french toast, though, and also the Hungarian mushroom soup, so I might have to go back at some point. Maybe in another 16 months.

The only reason I would give this place a 3 is because the service was pretty good. The food however was poor to average. I had a crab eggs benedict which had a poached egg that was completely overcooked. The potatoes were also very bland and under seasoned. It does have a nice atmosphere and friendly service as a plus.

Milo's was fairly tasty but it wasn't spectacular. I tried their special of the day, which was a fried chicken eggs benedict with a bacon hollandaise sauce. The fried chicken was nothing special, their biscuits were much too small and dense, and their side of fresh fruit was not that fresh and all the fruit tasted the same. But on the bright side, we did not have to wait that long for a table of five at a prime breakfast time.

I've been to Milo's for breakfast and dinner, and both were great, with unique offerings you won't find anyplace else. For brunch with a party we did have quite a wait, but not at dinnertime.

I tried this place for lunch today with a friend. It was quite loud, but clean and we received prompt service (although not super friendly). The food was good; for once when I asked if something was spicy and the waiter said "not very," he was right! I often end up with something too spicy for me to eat that way. The menu was fairly limited but it looks like their breakfast menu is a bit larger - I will have to try breakfast sometime. I definitely would go back.

Apparently I am in the minority on this one. I really wanted to be impressed here, but it must not have been in the cards. The most I can really say is that I was underwhelmed. My dining partners dish seemed tasty from the one bite that I stole. My breakfast burrito (which I ordered at the waitress' suggestion) however, was beyond bland. It had chorizo, eggs, potato, guac and salsa, and it still tasted like chewy ass. The refried black beans were spicy and hot but not very impressive. Alternately, my definitely deep fried potatoes were barely room temp. The service was kind of weird. Everyone was super nice, but it took about 10 min from sitting down to get water/menus. Our food came out about 3 min after we ordered it, and then it took another 15+ minutes to get the bill. I will say that the $4 mimosa was totally awesome. That's why they get an extra star just for that- wish we had half stars though, cause I'm just being nice and rounding up to 3.

This place seemed pretty average to me. I liked the food alright and the service was great, but nothing really draws me in. Good place to hang out with friends -- something about the layout makes it less noisy than other busy brunch places. I had the Fresh Dungeness Crab Cakes and I was craving more flavor. I really have nothing more to add, just a very neutral review -- breakfast purgatory, perhaps? You won't have a bad experience, but you can do better.

I have to say that my second visit here was pretty lame. I ordered a Monte Cristo and had to laugh. It was 1/4 the amount of food and 1/2 as good as the Monte Cristo from Gravy. In addition to that our waiter totally forgot the coffee until we were almost done and brought it at the end like nothing was wrong. We were still charged even though we left right afterwards. Save yourself the trouble and go to Gravy on Mississippi. 1000% better food and service.

We decided to come here after walking all down Alberta looking for a place to eat and not having any luck. I was surprised how quickly they got us in, after every other place we walked or drove near had waits times more ridiculous then the rides in Disneyland. We sat down and were greeted right away by a VERY friend man. He grabs us water right away and was extremely attentive to us from the start! He had some great recommendations and I ended up with the Santa Fe Omelet while my friend went with the Broadway Omelet. Amazing, both of them! I had never had chorizo before and it was a mouth watering first experience! The flavors blended perfectly and the eggs were nothing like I've had before! my friend's meat filled omelet was pretty yummy too! The waiter was friendly, respectful, and pretty funny as well. needless to say, I'll be back again!

Blah. Nothing memorable in the least. Not to expensive is the only thing going for it. Our waiter was nice, but I came here for the " renowned" food, and was very disappointed. The decor is pretty sad and dated too.

Visiting Portland and wanted non-hotel breakfast. Hiked to Milo's based on Yelp reviews. Decided to try something different and had cheese and Italian sausage stuffed French toast. Very friendly waitress said I was making an excellent choice. She was absolutely right. It (and the coffee) was really good. I will be returning.

So really good food, but a wait on weekend mornings. I think parties of 5 or more are a challenge for their dining room. Not sure if my waiter was having a bad day, or is generally aloof. But again, really good food. Stop in during a time other than weekend brunch.

Service was fairly good, though one of the servers did seem annoyed when I asked if I could switch tables with a booth, espeically seeing that it was slowing down from their breakfast rush. Aside from that, the food was alright (I hate to say it, but I'm super picky with my Eggs Benedict, and it was good, not great though... still good) and the service was quick... Also, there were two people serving coffee at any given time, so there was no issue there. I don't know if it blew me away to recommend it highly, perhaps with future visits... as far as breakfast places near the Lloyd Center go, there aren't too many, so yes... check them out.

Went here our first week in Portland and my wife continually asks when we are going back. Many different eggs benedict options, the salmon is the best, and tasty homefries. Breakfast served all day, which is always the sign of a good place. Small dining room, nice, clean atmosphere.

One of those places that the only problem with it is that there are too many delicious options on the menu. After ordering the breakfast burrito (omg amazing) I wished I had ordered the Eggs Benedict or one of the many scrambles. I guess that this isn't a problem at all, just many reasons why to come back. Expect a wait on weekends, but its well worth it.

Great traditional breakfast faire! Any variety of eggs benedict is gauranteed to be a winner, but my favorites are the traditional & the fresh dungeness crab. The ruben sandwich is also a good choice here. They change up their specials so be sure to check them out when you're there!

oh mmmy goodness, this was a surprise! milo's somehow never made it onto my breakfast joint radar (don't worry, i took it in for a tune up), but one morning at the hotel i asked a guest if she needed breakfast suggestions and she said "oh no, i go to milo's every time i'm in portland, i've been going for years". when i expressed that i'd never been, she practically ordered me to try it! so i did, obviously. i'm not sure exactly what i was expecting, but i was blown away! i ordered the blackstone eggs benedict, which was with crispy real bacon instead of canadian bacon, with a thick juicy slice of tomato, and some of the best holandaise sauce i've ever had. it came served with yummy home fries and a little bowl of fruit salad (with NO soggy grapes! i mean, there were grapes but they were crispy and fresh). the cafe itself was was very cute and there are classy white tablecloths but i wouldn't say it's a "white table cloth" kind of establishment, if you know what i mean. it's good for friends, good for maybe a business breakfast or lunch, and i guess ok for families (there was a couple sitting next to us with a wee babe). this was a seriously good breakfast!

They welcomed us in 15 minutes before closing on a Saturday night, though I certainly wouldn't have blamed them had we been turned away. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The quick and attentive service may be a moot point, considering that we were one of two parties. I was a little disappointed in the lack of variety in the dinner menu. For someone who doesn't like most seafood or hunks of meat, the options were few. My pasta dish was okay but had an odd I-can't-quite-figure-it-out flavor that clung to my mouth even after brushing my teeth. I couldn't get myself to choke down the leftovers, and that's big for a poor girl who practically lives off of leftovers. The service definitely saved the rating on this one. Perhaps I just chose the wrong meal for Milo's, because I hear they are great for breakfast. To be continued..

Date Visited: Friday 4/18/08 (Lunch) This was my 2nd visit to Milo's. My first visit may be one of the reasons why I couldn't bump up my star-rating to 5 stars. In that first visit, I ordered the cold vegetarian sandwich. I was NOT impressed at all. I knew I would be making a 2nd visit because my unit and I have a monthly lunch together and this was one of my administrator's pick. We headed over. After one woman kindly moved from a table for 4 to a table to 2, the 4 of us sat. Service was on the slow side and we were told the specials after we had been sitting and had decided on our orders, but we all move on. I ordered the Eggs Benedict (Vegetarian), which comes with Potatoes and a small bowl of fruit. I have NEVER had Eggs Benedict in my life, so really not sure what to expect. I fully understand how fellow Yelpers have complimented this dish. YUMMY. I felt like I gained 10 pounds eating this beautiful creation, but I didn't really care. I really enjoyed it and it filled me up plenty. The potatoes were lovely as well. It was worth every penny of the $8.50 charge. My fellow administrators had the Pasta Bolonnaise (I'm sure I didn't spell that right). They thought it was okay, but nothing special. They both finished their bowls. A Reuben sandwich was also ordered and my administrator said it was good but not nearly as good as Rose's. I guess I had the best dish. The restaurant is located on Broadway, across from the flags store. You'd probably miss it if you weren't looking for it. The Japanese restaurant, Yuki, is right by it. There aren't many tables and it wasn't long before there were people waiting to get seats after us. it's definitely a popular spot and the administrator who picked it said he would pick it again in the future. Oh! My boss ordered a turkey sandwich and soup, which I brought back to him. He said he is likely to go to the restaurant after his meal (he had never been there before). He really enjoyed the Soup of the Day, which was a creamy shrimp of some kind. I am looking forward to my next Eggs Benedict experience at Milo's and was very glad I decided NOT to get the Peanut Butter 'n Jelly stuffed French Toast.

What I love about Milo's: I can go there, ostensibly for lunch, and get BREAKFAST! And, smoked salmon benedicts. With enough hollandaise. This lands Milo's on two of my lists: Breakfast and Dining with Dad. Except they are almost always too busy at the time I'd like to eat breakfast. I'm not even sure of what else they serve thanks to the fact their smoked salmon benedict ROOLZ. And its DRY smoked salmon. (see my Kenny and Zuke's review). Yum. Just, yum. (and Dad likes it too!)

This place is going downhill. We used to come here often because the food was good, service prompt and attitude nice. Our last visit was on a Sunday and they were not busy. Sadly for us, they skipped over our name on the list several times and simply responded with an "oops" once we asked why people in front of us kept being sat. Not only that, but the food took forever to show up and it was ok at best. We won't be coming back.

This is my most frequented restaurant in Portland, partially because my parents are friends with the owners, and partially because I can't resist the hungarian mushroom soup or seafood linguine. Though typically lauded for their breakfast, dinner at Milo's is always wonderful, with the menu changing occasionally. The wait staff is attentive and charming, always present with water, bread and witty remarks. Beer and wine selection is wide enough to satisfy any palate or menu choice, and the service is able to make great suggestions.

I have been going to this joint since 2000 when I move up from CA. My best friend lived just around the block. It was a Sunday morning ritual for my buddy, girlfriend (now wife) and I to cure a hangover with a traditional eggs benedict. The place hasn't changed in 10+ years and was and still is my favorite breakfast joint in town.

    (5)
  • Leigh D.

Average breakfast joint. Portions are average and pricing a little on the expensive side for the what you're getting. The space is very wide open. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict tasted vinegary. Of course, I've returned twice but am not sure why.

You betcha. Portland -- in the fact, the West Coast -- has a breakfast culture that beats any other place in the US, probably in the world, and Milo's just nails it. You can get oatmeal here, in case you want to avoid a headlong encounter with carbs and fat. Otherwise, dive into four different kinds of eggs benedict (salmon, anyone?), french toast stuffed with sausage and cheese, fat omelets filled with great, fresh ingredients. Bottomless cup of coffee happily filled by gentle, kind Portland-archetypal busboys. The wait staff has worked here for YEARS and remember your face, your name, you children's name, where you've been, and more. They've not only served my in-laws here for years, my in-laws have had the owners to THEIR house! That's a friendly place. Recommended highly, for business meetings in the morning before work, or for pleasure anytime. You will, however, need to see a gym and a personal trainer if you go here too often. That's OK. In the old days, you'd have a big breakfast and then spend the day lifting large logs into a timber mill. At least you don't have to do that anymore ...

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Milo's yet. I seriously ate breakfast here every Saturday for the first 4 months I lived in Portland. This is the perfect kind of breakfast place. There's really something for everyone, from a straight up waffle to a peanut butter chocolate waffle, or a nice normal omlet to the absolutely amazing crab cakes and eggs. (With delicious potatoes and great toast.) Everyday there is a special for breakfast as well as a chef's whim waffle, we've had an egg nog waffle, a pumpkin waffle, a toasted coconut waffle... They also have a fresh fruit syrup every week with fresh fruit preserves on the table. The coffee's great, the service is prompt and friendly and they refer to bacon as Vitamin B. Oh, and they also serve lunch and dinner, but I think the breakfast is really where it's at!

My Mom and I go to Milo's often after she arrives on the train from Seattle for weekend visits. I can't speak well to most of the menu, because I've never gotten past always ordering the Marianne eggs Benedict. The eggs are consistently poached well, the béarnaise is has a nice tarragon flavor and the steak is tender and flavorful.

Dear diary, There is nothing that I love more than a moist, flavorful dungeness crab cake. Well, actually, strike that. The only thing I love more is a moist, flavorful crab cake on an english muffin with poached eggs and an herbed hollandaise. This is the wonderful creation that came into my life when I ate at milo's city cafe. Also, the services was quite good; very attentive waiters and staff. I definitely recommend Milo's City Cafe. Love.

Went here for breakfast, had the peanut butter and chocolate waffle. Pretty good, though the PB was a bit overwhelming to me. Great service, my coffee never got low. I want to give this place another try but as of now I would say it's a solid breakfast place but no where near the best in the area.

I have had breakfast here a few times and I gitta say the eggs are fab!!! Great service, not to bad of a wait, have it your way costumer service! I really like this place for breakfast. It is not super trendy cool like some of the SE or Alberta street places but after waiting for an hour at one of those cool trendy spots I would choose milo's over it time and again!

I pulled Milo's City Cafe out of a breakfast book my girlfriend gave me, and the two of us went for brunch on a Sunday. The wait was long, but there was plenty of room outside for us to wait. I don't have a problem with waiting for breakfast on a weekend; it's par for the course. When we sat down, our waitress started by trying to push alcohol on us. We asked for coffee, and she suggested Baileys (for breakfast?). Then when we refused, she mentioned mimosas. I asked if they did Bloody Marys, and she responded "The best in the city." When it arrived, I gave it a solid taste, and I can honestly say it's one of the worst Marys I've had in town. The Mary mix tastes like cocktail sauce mixed with vinegar, cayenne pepper, and salt. It lacked freshness, texture, and was not refreshing at all. Gravy and the Stepping Stone both offer better Bloodys, and if you want a Cayenne flavored Mary, the Old Market Pub offers a much cheaper, tastier, and plentiful option. When the waitress asked how I liked the Mary, I made tried to be friendly about it, but I made it clear that I wasn't impressed. She smugly responded, "Well do you want some more coffee so you can wash it down?" My coffee cup was essentially full. Another waiter overheard me mention that I didn't like the drink, and said "Don't let the owner hear you." In fact, the entire meal, it was clear that the entire restaurant lives in fear of the owner. She seemed pushy, and she publicly reprimanded her waitstaff over some minor notational issues on their checks -- it was right in front of us, and it put us in an awkward position as customers. When the food arrived I have to admit it looked pretty good. I ordered one of their well-regarded Benedicts, but with steak instead of ham. Though the roast potatoes were crispy and tasty, the rest of the meal was unfortunate. The meat was thickly cut and chewy. The Béarnaise sauce fought to offer more flavor to the equation, but was ultimately room temperature, bland, and offered little to the dish. It was, however, so plentiful, that everything on the plate was soggy before I'd had a bite. Very disappointing. Helser's and Sanborn's Benedict is definitely superior. I imagine that with an alternate menu choice, my dining experience might have been different, but ultimately the hostile nature of the place made me hesitant about returning --- there's just so many other breakfast spots in town which have superior food, prices, and service.

Stopped by here incredibly hungry after climbing at the rock gym. Some reason the ambiance reminds me of a Jersey diner. Chicken Piccata rates five stars as well as Hungarian Mushroom soup!

Our recent experience here was atrocious. We used to eat here occasionally, but had not been for more than a year. We were there on a weekend, after brunch, so the place was full, as usual. Nothing peculiar there. The restaurant itself seemed unchanged and clean as usual. I ordered the Marianne Benedict and asked for my meat rare. My fiancee ordered a "special," which consisted of some puffed pastry biscuits and lobster gravy concoction. When the food came, it looked okay, but I saw the meat in my Marianne looked almost nonexistent. I quickly realized the meat was overcooked and it did not taste fresh at all. It had a slight liver flavor to it. The Marianne's of old are no longer, I'm afraid. I understand if they had to skimp on the meat because of economic hardship, but they could at least put out FRESH meat and cooked as ordered. I am not, however, one to complain about my food unless there's something really wrong with it (e.g. hair or flies), lest I get an even worse surprise the second time around. My fiance was not enthusiastic about the special either. The puffed pastry biscuits were hard and the lobster gravy was salty. She ordered a second glass of orange juice to wash it down (and each small glass costs $4!) Hello, carton of Minute Maid drunk at home next time. All the while, the staff looked a bit scattered and misdirected. One flamboyant waiter was busy playing with plush toys at the counter and belting out lines from some Joan Crawford movie. Another waiter looked like he hadn't showered in days and was in dire need of a haircut, or at least a comb. The latino (or middle-eastern) busboy refused to clean something nearby and cried racism when it was suggested, then argued with the wait staff for a few moments. I shut the rest out, figuring I must be trapped in an Almodovar movie or something. When the waitress asked us how we liked our food, I said mine was "meh" and my fiancee said she had "had better." The waitress told us she would "maybe see about adding on a dessert at the end" or some such. When the bill came, we were not asked again if we enjoyed our meal. We were not comped anything, either. Our check came to roughly $31. $8 of that was for two small glasses of orange juice and $1.50 was for a diet coke that was uncharacteristically flat. That's fine. We will simply not return. Milo's has seen its glory day and now it can die in peace, living in our memory as a former, high-caliber eating establishment that has lost its direction.

Good, basic breakfasts. Pretty good eggs benedict. Quick and pleasant, but not luxurious. Good place for those who won't miss restauranteur pomp and circumstance in the morning until they've had at least a couple cups of coffee.

Good food, good service, and a relaxed neighborhood feel. What's not to like? They have a Carbonara Hash that I'm totally addicted to - I want to order the Crab Benedict that my wife always gets and I love sampling off of her plate, but at the last moment I just can't do it!

This place gets 5 stars just for the corned beef hash alone. I would go back to Portland just to have that meal again. Words fail me. Literally the best corned beef hash I have ever tasted. Just amazing.

  • Josh S.

Over-rated. I was in town for a conference and wanted to grab Sunday brunch with a friend. We were seated pretty quickly considering the line outside and the menu looked good. When my friend got his diet coke, it was flat so he asked for another one. Second one was flat too. I said, "Maybe you just need to check your machine?" She said, "Um, that wont be happening. Maybe you haven't noticed that we are a little bit busy!?!" I was a little taken aback and she said she'd check with her manager. She came back and told us the manager said, "our coke is how it is and its not gonna change, so deal with it." I was a bit shocked by this and must have had a look on my face. She said, "two blocks away is a convenience store if you really NEED a coke." So he switched to sprite and it was fine. I was annoyed pretty heavily. I ordered oatmeal thinking its hard to go wrong with that. I was wrong. My friend ordered an Omelette and she asked what kind of cheese he wanted. He said American and she said, "We only have cheddar!" I mean, why ask if there's only once choice. When the food came, the oatmeal was overcooked, and cold, the omelette was very dry and filled with pepper jack cheese. I cant recommend this place. Its not expensive, but frankly I could have had better food at my hotel, which is saying a lot since I HATE hotel food generally. I wont go there again. A Starbucks muffin would've probably been a better choice. Shame though because the atmosphere was nice, the host was friendly. The waitress just seemed dumb and bitchy. I know, an unusual combination normally only found in mothers-in-law.

Most of the reviews seem to be about breakfast. I'm visiting Portland for a few days and have been to Milo's twice now for dinner.... and I may go back tonight. They had a special of pan roasted mahi mahi with pumpkin risotto on my first visit. It was the best dish I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Last night I had the seafood pasta and it was very good. My husband had the crab cakes and they were pretty good, too. We sat at the counter and watched the food coming out and it all looked very tasty. Several people have mentioned the service, which was, indeed, terrific -- very friendly. The excellent service and the over-the-top mahi mahi push this otherwise generally ok cafe into the 4-star category.

I give Milos four sparkles for the "everybody knows your name" service. I love a place where all the employees seem to be a part of a big family, and they welcome you back like an old friend if you're a regular. Cool. Milo's is a popular Irvington hangout for breakfast and brunch. Line up with the others outside or sit on a bench and wait. Nice basic menu, with eggs, omelettes, benedicts, waffes, oatmeal, and yes, a plate of fatty bacon if you want it. (who doesn't love bacon??)

i've been to milo's a couple of times for their breakfast. i could take or leave the food, but the atmosphere is decent. lots of space between tables and i kind of like the fact that they don't bother you too much once you've been served. it allows me to converse with my girlfriend and enjoy myself. as far as the food goes, the eggs and potatoes are typically dry. i'd recommend Besaws on 23rd and Savier over this anytime. the only thing is that i have to drive there and it's usually packed. not as easy to converse. but the food kicks the shit out of milo's. so, keep on doing your thang milos. it's average, but does the trick on a sunday morning.

Oh my goodness, was my eggs on my eggs benedict actually poached?!?! You mean it wasn't just an egg over easy!?! Take it back! I'm shocked and amazed! And guess what it was delicious. Yum. Not just kind of sort of yum, I mean like this was spectacular. This was by far the best breakfast I've had in Portland so far. Plus, the waitstaff is all attractive, attentive, and a bunch of other adjects that may or not start with "A' but would all be positive.

We ate here twice while staying at a B&B around the corner. I ordered vegetarian dishes both times and was pleased with the way both dishes were seasoned without being too salty. I really recommend the hungarian mushroom soup. Great flavor!

Too many bad experiences here. The last was breakfast. My friend had some sort of salmon omelette and it was terrible - dry fish, bland taste. I had a waffle and some eggs over easy. The waffle was just stupid. Just a dry foamy styrofoam abuse of the waffle concept. We laughed. No one could really like such a thing. I sometimes think PDX people don't know very much about food. How could this place get 4+ stars? You people need to get around some. Taste something ... On the other hand, it does have a nice kind of neighborhood vibe, and some of the staff are genuinely nice. But geez folks, do something about what comes outta those kitchen doors.

THE best bennie in Portland. (And 5 variations thereof!) As if that wasn't enough, mix some of Milo's hollandaise with some Cholula on your perfectly cripsy potatoes. Wow. (I used to live 5 blocks from Milo's and was a regular.) The waffles are unique and delicious (gingerbread), but better (owing to the size) if you aren't that hungry. The other menu items, according to my girlfriend (I can't break from the bennie), are so-so. Beat the wait and ask to sit at the counter.

The food here ranges from good to very good. When I'm in the mood to wait, I'll eat brunch here. I've not been impressed with the sandwiches, but the dinners are tasty, if not a little over priced. I recommend breakfast as their best meal.

Milo's is one of my favorite places to eat. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, and the food is fantastic. My personal favorite is the Eggs Benedict (perfection!) but my dad swears the crab cakes are the best in town. There can be a bit of a wait, especially at breakfast, but as the previous poster wrote, it moves pretty quickly. I highly recommend Milo's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Yum!

I go to Milo's City Cafe for the Salmon and Eggs Benedict, or the Traditional Eggs Benedict. Occasionally I'll get something else, but if you want to maximize you experience at Milos, then you will go with what they are really really good at. Don't get me wrong, they do great waffles, pretty good scrambles and other breakfasts, but their eggs benedict makes that place happen.

A good brunch spot, this is packed with families from Laurelhurst. The space is kind of crammed with tables, and it feels a little like they're pushing you out the door, but it's a good family joint. There are lines on weekends, but they move fairly quickly.

There are many reviews for the breakfast, which is outstanding, but you really should try Milos for dinner. Excellent value, delicious and always fresh local ingredients. The service is attentive without bugging you. There is always a wait on the weekends, but for some reason the word hasn't gotten out that this is a wonderful place for dinner. I just love it here. I've never had a bad meal. When the weather gets cooler, can't wait for a bowl of the best Hungarian Mushroom soup in Portland. Yum!!

The press of work had kept me from Milo's recently, but I returned to find the same great service and fabulous food for which this Northeast Broadway classic is so beloved. Even though I'd been away for a while, I was greeted warmly by both my server, Red, and by Albert, and got top quality service even as a solo diner at the counter. Although tempted by a breakfast, almost all of which are delicious, I ordered a Cobb Salad with grilled chicken. My salad's chicken breast was perfectly cooked and placed over the freshest greens possible, with just the right accompaniments of egg and bacon crumbles. My lunch was served so quickly that I barely had made it through the first newspaper story I was reading when it arrived. I was delighted to have returned and have promised myself the reward of coming back more frequently. This establishment certainly deserves a high-ranking spot on the list of elegantly simply Portland restaurants and cafes, and displays the charming essence of the city's locally-owned restaurant scene.

Best eggs I have ever had in my life. Sunday morning at 11:00 on a holiday weekend and we were seated instantly at a booth. The crepe Suzette special featured the unparalleled Oregon berries. Tender crepes, folded and covered in a delicious caramel sauce with a hint of orange. The scrambled eggs were so fresh, light, and fluffy. I could have eaten an entire bowl of them. The potatoes were also exactly the way I like them. Cooked perfectly but not overly greasy. The hubby loved his eggs black stone. Service was top notch. We were in and out in under a half hour & multiple people checked in on us. Can I give them 6 stars please?

This review is for brunch only. This place had such good reviews and I was so excited to try it. However, I really think the food was mediocre. We had 4 people and they wouldn't seat us until the whole party was there. Just an FYI. Not my favorite policy since the rest of us were ordering drinks and the 1 person was about 5 minutes behind. But this is not uncommon, so that's fine. The drinks were pretty good and reasonably priced. Definitely felt we got our money's worth on that. The food was not very good. Anyone who reads my reviews knows I get eggs benedict at every new place. This was no exception. The hollandaise was definitely in the mid-range of Portland. Didn't stand out but wasn't so terrible I had to scrape it off. Most of my companions enjoyed their food but one person who had some of of french toast thing really didn't like it. Overall, I'd probably not go out of my way to come back here.

Let's start with what I liked: -The peach mimosa was good and i loved the little animal charms Now for what I didn't like: - The food was just ok. I had the french toast and my bf has the sausage and cheese stuffed french toast. He liked his well enough, mine was boring and i'm pretty easy to please! - The service was beyond slow. We were forgotten about and had to wait about 25 minutes before getting our food order taken. No apologies from our waitress with the funky green eye shadow. - The coffee is total swill. This is a matter of personal preference, but if your coffee choice is limited to black coffee only, please make sure it's at least decent... - It's expensive for what you get. $1.45 PER EGG? What? Needless to say, I wasn't given many reasons to want to return.

We stumbled upon this place by accident and I'm so glad. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Our food arrived promptly. I went with the recommended Blackstone Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. We sat at the counter and were very entertained by the staff. I highly recommend this little gem.

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was great and hilarious. The drinks were strong and the atmosphere was super chill. Our group really enjoyed all the dishes that were ordered and considered it the best restaurant of our entire 10 day vacation

A great neighborhood restaurant. I come here whenever I visit my dad in Portland. It's a very popular place and always good for breakfast. Very good coffee and my favorite breakfast items are the oatmeal, Eggs Benedict. Really, everything is yummy and a great way to start anyone's day. So if you are in the area, stop by for some good eats!!

Enjoyed a Blackened chicken salad today courtesy of Milo's. So delicious! The owner is fantastic and very nice.

Solid option for diner food, diverse menu. I enjoyed my salmon benny and coffee, but it wasn't mind blowing or anything. Service here is very quick, and they were very nice about seating our 10-person party. Also very gracious about splitting the check. Clearly a well-loved neighborhood establishment, the atmosphere was pleasantly active.

Milo's is a sweet little place to grab some lunch! Very friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. They also have a fabulous menu selection with prices not much more than if you were to go to McDonalds(yuck!!) What more can I say, try this place out!

I would like to agree with everyone that the food was excellent but sadly I can only say Eh it was ok. Now as a warning if you get easily offended, the waitress we had was sassy and sarcastic. We thought she was great and service was good. The food, on the other hand, could use some work. The corned beef hash well mainly consisted of potatoes. You had to search for the pieces of corned beef, which could have been good if there was more meat and less taters. The Marianne benedict was interesting. I'm not sure if I liked it or just kept eating it because I was curious. I think instead of the bernaise sauce, the tenderloin should have just been seasoned with salt and pepper and just had hollandaise sauce. Also the crab cakes and eggs could use some work. The crab cakes were not good at all. Maybe it was an off day but I couldn't figure out why this place had such high ratings.

I'm not from Portland, so when I saw Milo's had a 4-star rating and was near my hotel, I made a trek over to visit. Sadly, it doesn't live up to my expectations for a 4-star breakfast establishment. It's relatively big inside, but there isn't really any decor. So it's just a big barren room you don't feel homey in. The food is full on "meh". The vegetarian omelet (a staple that determines how well a restaurant can make food) lacked basic seasoning, and the waffle could have been made by a kid in a homestyle waffle maker. The really sad part is that a few days later we went to Petisco, which is literally 20 feet away, and were blown away by the quality of their brunch.

Awesome food and great service! The chicken was very tender and the tapenade gave just the right saltiness to the dish. I would definitely recommend this place to friends!

I have been meaning to visit for quite some time, and finally made it. The parking is on street, so good luck with that. We were lucky and got a spot right in front, score! The food was very tasty, the service was amazingly quick for how busy they were. It is a fairly large place and has seating at the bar area. We scored a wonderful Waiter and our water and coffee cups never ran dry. Oddly they serve Boyd's coffee in such a hip coffee town, that I don't really understand. It was OK coffee. I ordered the Scrambled Eggs with Ham, Scallions & Pepper-Jack Cheese, it came with potatoes (I asked them to exclude the green Bell Peppers) and some very yummy Sourdough Toast. It was very good, although a bit cool, it would help if they warmed the plates. Hubby ordered the Smoked Salmon Hash, which he thought was OK, he has been permanently ruined by the Smoked Salmon Hash at Mother's Cafe. It was good but had very little Salmon actually in it. Overall we enjoyed it and plan to go back for lunch perhaps next time.

-1 stars if possible. Had such high ratings....terrible. Took forever for us to get our food and this is before 8 am on Friday. Mimosas are small. Bloody Marys are wack. Worst part....the food...... Their omelets taste like they are made in microwave. It

WOW and YUM! It was our first time at Milo's and we will be back because there are so many more things we want to try. The Hungarian mushroom soup is a fabulous starter. I had crab cakes and eggs over easy and that comes with these yummy home fries and Bearnaise sauce so I built my own muffinless crabcake Benedict with the extra Bearnaise sauce I ordered. My meal also came with ciabatta bread and fresh blackberry jam, which was amazing. Our server Alberto was excellent made us feel very welcome and he is very attentive. When we go back we will ask for his section. My boyfriend had a Reuben sandwich which was very good. He was waffling between that and the seafood linguine next time he'll try the seafood linguini. Their bloody mary was the perfect drink to go with our meal. Based on our experience I want to try everything on the menu

If I were my 86-year-old grandfather, I would looove Milo's. 'Cause when you're old you don't like flavor, spice, or hot food. Milo's is like a local Denny's... the waitresses even all look like they're named Sharon. My breakfast: Italian Omelet ($10) with "fresh" mozzarella cheese, Italian sausage, marinara sauce and "fresh" parmesan. The thick slices of mozzarella inside the omelet were completely unmelted. So I chewed my way through refrigerated cheese. It was equally gross and depressing. Like, eating that omelet was like watching Fear and Loathing. My dad's two egg breakfast was a simple, well-done gold standard. Their bacon is thick cut and delicious. That being said: If you want a two egg breakfast and you want it fast (they really rush you in and out) without a wait, Milo's is a good choice for you. Or, ya know, if Grandpa Tony's in town. Guys, your grandparents will love Milo's. I'll leave it at that.

Ate there this morning! Our server was very peppy and entertaining! Food came out fast and was delicious! Did I mention the strawberry jam? Oh. My. Gosh. To die for. We had to order extra toast at the end of our meal to indulge in a little more jam! Highly recommended breakfast joint!

I've only had breakfast here, which is great. Vegetarian options - though not a whole lot in the way of vegan, but I think they would gladly accommodate you if you asked. If you're a veg that eats fish (pescatarian) - I would highly recommend the smoked salmon benedict. I DO wish they had hash browns instead of breakfast potatoes, as this would bump my rating - but that is purely personal preference, and of course this review is completely subjective...obviously. I need to talk about the service: after coming a few times by myself I've been able to watch and observe their service standards. The moment you walk in, someone (any of the table-waiters) will greet you. How many times have you walked into a busy place, only to feel invisible, ignored, or that you were just bothering them for showing up? Not here - every single person was greeted, and either shown to a table, or chatted up while they waited for tables to open. There is bar seating, which I recommend if you're sitting alone - just because they DO get busy and larger parties might really appreciate having a table. I'll be honest, I don't know if I would try it for lunch - no reason not to, just that I've been happy with breakfast and there's so many other lunch/dinner places around there that I have other preferences.

I had the salmon omelette, and it was outstanding. The price was reasonable, especially for the quality. However, this is not the place to come if you want to have a conversation--very noisy if there is any sort of crowd.

Milo's City Cafe is on 1325 NE Broadway St, right beside the Llyod Center. This place will make you wait, sometimes during the crowded days it's as if you're a prisoner on death row waiting to be executed, but if you go during times like 10AM on a weekday, the wait is shorter. There are lots of booths and beer on tap. They seated me fairly quickly and I ordered a Blackstone Eggs Benedict. When it came, it was mostly good. The hollandaise was good and it had a little bit of potatoes on the side. The ingredients were good, but they weren't spectacular and there are better Eggs Benedicts to be had in this wide world of ours. It was fairly delicious, but it wasn't anything too noteworthy. They refilled my drink and the price was $25 for two adults. Milo's is fun but it probably does not stand out in Portland. This is good, but it isn't something that I would put on The Oregonian soon. Add a warm, fuzzy smile and look across the net for something exceptional in Portland, a great brunch capital. Overall, Milo's does a good job and be a place for communal dinning.

I found this place by having a craving for eggs Benedict. That's really it. I love their crab eggs Benedict the most. It's so good! I also think the portions are perfect and match the price. The waitstaff is really friendly and super nice. It's like you're at a friend's house having breakfast. Something cool that I noticed and was wondering is that they have Milo cans lined up. Is that where their name comes from??

I'm not from Portland. My friend and I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. It will be the last time. We ordered fish and chips. I had the Greek salad. The chips are saturated in oil. When I asked the waiter to please take them back he brought me yet another little bit of french fries saturated in oil. We ordered dessert a fruit berry type of shortcake they called it. The strawberries were fermented. The biscuit was saturated in sauce so it was all mushy. One of the waitresses tried to amend the situation. The second dessert that came back remade was no better than the first. Neither the manager and or any of the staff apologized to me and or my friend for the bad service and the food. I will not recommend this establishment to anyone. The review that is posted in the window is from 2004. Both my friend and I wish we would have read the reviews first and made notice of the date.

Walked by last weekend with the family and we just decided "Let's check it out and eat here." We didn't know much about this place other than it was close to our hotel and looked cute from the outside. Inside, it's reminiscent of a chic, yet unpretentious, Parisian cafe. Service is bustling- they clearly have a routine here and no one steps on the other's toes. We asked the busboy about the specials and he smiled and said he knows them but isn't at liberty to tell us as that is our server's job. At first we worried we would be getting some controlling freak server, but she turned out to be a lovely woman who seems to really love her job and enjoyed describing the mouth-watering specials. My husband and I both got the benedicts- mine was the black pepper bacon, his was the veggie one. We both devoured them and thought they were great, including the country potatoes. One minor quibble we both agreed on: the hollandaise, while delicious, was EXTREMELY rich... rich to the point I could not finish my food. We think a shot of acid would have lightened it up tremendously. It was still excellent, but probably less should have been given. The kids lucked out and got a peanut butter and chocolate sauced waffle and a strawberries and whipped cream waffle. They were in heaven and ate every bite. The coffee is good here, and the apple juice was incredible- like cider. Overall we found this place to be reasonably priced, not crowded on a weekend morning, thought the service was speedy and friendly, and the food pretty dang good! Thumbs up!

It's decent comfort-style food-- perhaps a bit overpriced but nothing too bad. The food tastes fairly average and is real filling. Two things bugged me. First of all, the silverware was setup on the wrong side. Not a big deal, just a tad annoying. And second, the waitress was not very good. She came off as pushy and fake, which isn't too fun to deal with at dinner. Overall it was a decent meal. Will I be back? Probably not, but I don't regret going here.

The food is completely adequate--very tasty salmon hash! We were not the favorites of the wait staff, though--we got a measly refill to our coffee toward the end of our stay, which was a long time after we got our food, which in turn was a long time after we ordered, which in turn was a long time after we were seated. Maybe wait-staff who ignore you is part of the charm?

First night in Portland and we were looking for a quick dinner that was close and good. We came upon Milo's on yelp. I have to say that although I enjoyed my dinner, the others in my party were just eh about their entrees. I had the crab cake dinner. There were three golf ball sized crab cakes with a light butter sauce. They were mostly crab with not a lot of filling. The crab cakes were by far my favorite part of the entire dinner. My entree also had some steamed carrots, zucchini, and asparagus. The veggies were good. They weren't overly cooked and still had good crunch. It also had what they called a brown rice pilaf. The pilaf was not good. It was dry and got stuck in my teeth. It tasted old and like it had sat out for a while. There were three others in my party. One had a the champagne chicken. She said it was good, but not over the top. The mashed potatoes were ok, the chicken was slightly overcooked, and gravy was too rich. The second person in my party had the pasta Bolognese. He said it was bland and based on this dish would likely not come back to this establishment. The last person in my party had the bbq pulled pork sandwich. He said it was tasty and enjoyed it fine. He also had the Hungarian mushroom soup and said that was just bland. In summary, you have to pick carefully from the menu option as it seems to be a hit and miss. The crab cakes are a good and safe choice. Based on this last visit I will not be recommending this establishment to any of my friends and will likely not return unless I am desperate and in the area. The service was good and this is why I gave the extra star.

Been coming here for years. Food is excellent. Staff are awesome. Only thing needed is to change the decor. Milo's picture boxes hasn't changed in FOREVER. It would be nice to see different starving artists painting featured possibly each month or rotate out the local school art. Just something different.

Busy, busy, busy......... That's how one describes Milo's City Café on a Sunday morning at 9:30a. Actually, wasn't too bad. Wife and I waited about 10 minutes for a table, and were offered coffee to warm up from the NW's little cold snap outside. Once seated....and having a minute to watch other plates being served while we were waiting, an Eggs Benedict breakfast of some sort was an easy choice. Which one, however, proved to take a bit more thought. Ultimately I went with the Marianne, steak done medium rare (picture posted), wife chose the Blackstone Bacon, with fresh tomato and avocado. Both plates served with very nicely seasoned home fry type potato and fresh fruit cup. Both plates were visually pleasing and very tasty. Prices were very "Portlandy". Not dive bar cheap, but reasonable for what we had. Our server was "a one legged man in an ass-kicking contest' busy, but he had plenty of personality, and didn't make us feel rushed....even though you know they are working hard to turn tables to accommodate the people waiting. Well done, Milos! @miloscitycafe

I'm not huge on breakfast food but this place was pretty good. I got the breakfast BLT and it came with a side of fruit. I also really like savory things like corn beef and hash which they had. I'll have to try that next time. The service was attentive and the wait time was reasonable. I would definitely eat here again.

We arrived at Milo's at about 9:15 on a Sunday morning. There was room and we got a table right away. Score one. We always order Hot Chocolate (hopefully with whipped cream) and it was wonderful. The whipped cream was topped with an umbrella and a little plastic animal. I got an elephant and my son got a giraffe (which we took home to play with). The special Eggs Benedict of the Day had pastrami with a dijon bechamel sauce and it was really good. The Chef's waffle was a berry and whipped cream waffle...really delicious. The service was really good...friendly and fast. Kudos. There were many more items that we wanted to try...so many. So, we will have to go back and try those.

Maybe I've become too much of a snob? Perhaps I didn't order the right thing? I found the breakfast here to be middle of the road, at best. It's nothing to complain about, nor is it something to write home about. I liked everything just fine, but it wasn't a mind-blowing meal. Perhaps you should follow the advice of other folks here and order the Eggs Benedict because if I remember correctly, I ordered a scramble of sorts and it was just okay. Despite my apparent lackluster meal, the wait staff were incredibly attentive and friendly - which is very much appreciated no matter the meal quality!

My friend and I went in today (Saturday at 1 pm - four empty tables, no wait, no line) to get a table for us and a third friend who was parking. We were told they wouldn't sit us until our entire party was there. I mentioned that I've been coming to Milo's since they opened in 1999 and had never heard that and we asked if we could be seated since our friend was literally parking and the lunch rush was over and there were empty tables and absolutely no one waiting except us. The host said he'd ask (he was super nice), and then another man, Christopher, approaches and starts off saying 'I've worked here for six years and we have always had that policy in place but I guess we'll go ahead and seat you.' It was said with such attitude and disregard (it was quite literally shocking, the way he said it - a review can't describe it) that I turned to my friend and said - let's leave and go somewhere else. Christopher says something else and was SO rude. We walked out. I go back in and told him, 'you do not speak to a customer like that. I will never be here again'. I exchanged a few delightful words with him and left. He ends up coming outside when we are walking away and proceeds to continue his attitude and be a complete jerk, on the street, in front of people to see and my friend who was with me, and our third friend who walked up. It was unbelievable. I honestly thought I was in the twilight zone. Way to go Milo's - nice representation you've got interacting with your customers. My patronage is appreciated elsewhere, I'm sure. Best of luck, Milo's. F+

Our friend Janis (hi there) had suggested this place for breakfast some time back but we hadn't picked it until this visit. It was a great suggestion! Street parking wasn't too bad at 8:30 am on a Sunday even with it was Mother's Day. We parked just a block away. We arrived first and even though there were tables empty and no one else waiting to be seated, they took our name and had us wait. This bugs me about restaurants, seating available and the rest of the group (one other couple) is just minutes away. Why not seat us and bring coffee? My dear wife told me this was a common practice especially for breakfast in general. This didn't really make me feel more warm and fuzzy about the practice. Once seated, service was prompt and friendly. We ordered the Broadway Omelet (ham, sausage, bacon & cheese), the Carbonara hash and scrambled eggs with spinach and feta. Mico's is known for their Eggs Benedict and that's what I ordered, the Blackstone served with pepper bacon and tomatoes. We all loved what we ordered, all was well seasoned and tasty. Breakfasts come with crispy potatoes and fruit. Coffee refills were great even with as busy as it was, but to their credit they has plenty of staff on hand. All the breakfasts we had were in the $10 - $11 range plus $2.25 for coffee. There are a few that top out at $13.50 in case you want salmon or crap. Would we return? Yes. When we exited at 9:45 there were hungry people waiting outside.

We stopped by hoping to get breakfast on Tuesday before a movie. I was a bit bummed to learn their full breakfast menu ends at 11am weekdays. They offer some breakfast items after 11am but few were vegetarian. I opted for the cold veggie sandwich, which was fresh but just okay on this cold blustery day. The fries that accompanied it were hot and tasty but became cool and limp quickly. Service was prompt and friendly. I would prefer to come by on a weekend when the full breakfast menu is available, their benedict and hashes look okay.

I went here after the Race for the Roses and it was packed with other runners. The servers did a wonderful job of getting tables for everyone and keeping things running smoothly. The service was great and the food was delicious! It didn't feel like I was rushed or had to wait long for anything. I always had a full cup of coffee to go along with my delicious breakfast. I will definitely be back!

Came here on a weekday morning to grab a quick breakfast - no lines, had our pick of table to sit on. The service was friendly and I ordered the much lauded smoke salmon benedict while my mom got the waffles with strawberry & chocolate sauce. The waffles was thin and crispy - decent, but nothing special. The eggs on my benedict was overcooked - I expect it slightly runny to drench the salmon and muffin below, but it didn't move even a little when I cut through it (check my photo). The hollandaise sauce was average too. I do like the cup of fruits they accompany all entrees. Not sure if I could come back again, especially if there's a line.

I took my friends from out of town here for their first breakfast in Portland. Of course it was on a Sunday so everywhere else had an hour long wait so it was kind of a last resort. One of my biggest pet peeves happened here. I ordered the vegetarian eggs benedict and the waitress said "you know that doesnt have meat on it, right? so you want a side of bacon?" HAHA SO HILARIOUS. How about, you just don't? Like, I get that you're trying to be "funny" but it's actually a little rude, and it's also just...not, funny. I ordered a peach mimosa and they forgot to bring it out so by the time they did bring it out we already had our food so I felt like I had wasted most of my drink. It would of been nice to sip on while I waited for my food. Speaking of the food, everything w/ bread on all three of our meal's was burnt. Not worth a second try if both service and food didn't satisfy anyone.

I had a dinner date with a dear friend that I haven't seen in quite a long time. The original place we were planning on meeting at, had a line out the door and down the block. We decided to go for a walk to see if there was a lively place that we had a better chance at getting seated. Looking in the window of Milo's City Café, it looked very inviting. The café was well attended, but there were a couple of tables available, perfect for what we were looking for, since we were hungry! Milo's is like an upscale version of your hometown café. After being seated, I inquired if there was anything vegan on the menu, and short of deconstructing something listed, there wasn't anything. There were a few vegetarian options, and that's what I opted for. I got the Butternut Squash Ravioli, and my friend got the Hot Vegetarian sandwich. Both were very tasty and satisfying. Service was good and friendly. This was a good dining experience.

I wonder what happened to this place. It's been known as a pleasant neighborhood restaurant for a solid meal for years, but on my last brunch visit, I was terribly disappointed. The service was great. I'll give credit where credit is due. Coffee was brought out quickly and refilled often. What I couldn't stand was the food. We ordered the peanut butter chocolate waffle and peanut butter and jelly French toast, and that's exactly what we got: a waffle with a glob of peanut butter and drizzle of chocolate, and a PB&J sandwich made with French toast instead of plain bread. Both came with a handful of assorted fruit and fake maple syrup. Not even real maple syrup? In a restaurant? Really? It's not that it was bad. The dining experience was perfectly fine, in a clean and friendly atmosphere, in a cozy neighborhood restaurant. It's that the food was a joke. I can make better French toast and waffles at home. With such an active and thriving dining scene in Portland, there's no need to stop by here.

Great neighborhood place. We tried the peanut butter stuffed French toast which was excellent, the banana waffles which were light and crisp and the corn beef hash - home made and delicious. Their specialty is crepe Suzette's so we gave a reason to return.

My fiance and I dropped in here the other day before a movie. The waitstaff was super nice and knowledgeable about all the menu items. the prices and portion sizes are good. Everything that we ordered was delicious: -vegetarian Ravioli -zucchini & corn fritters -cow(girl) steak topped with tomotillo(sp?) & avocado sauce (no A1 needed) would definitely not mind hitting this place up again whenever we are on Broadway

Milo's has been an Irvington staple and a favorite of mine for 15 years, and definitely takes the cake over nearby Cadillac Café. The food is straightforward and delicious, but the real reason for the 5 stars is that their service is IMPECCABLE. I think many of the servers have been working there for years and years, and you can tell - they know exactly what they're doing, they're friendly and always smiling, and they know their menu back to front. Most importantly, it really feels like they love their jobs! For breakfast, I love their scrambles and benedicts, and they have great dinner options too!

Food and service are top notch! The wait was reasonable for a Sunday. Christopher was DA BOMB of a waiter and personal recommendations from him should be taken as gospel. Order whatever he tells you to! The Thanksgiving Eggs Benedict is out of this world. Don't worry, it really is! Coffee cups were always full and the cranberry mimosa to pair with the Benedict was great. The only thing I think would make this breakfast better was a side of cranberry sauce instead of the nasty little melon dish. But then again, I hate melon. Top ratings for this little place!

This place is probably the best brunchy spot I have ever gone to. We walked in, were immediately seated, and given a minute to look at the menus. The waitress came to take our order and she immediately diagnosed us with hangovers and prescribed a dose of Bloody Mary for each of us, along with some coffee. This woman was amazing. She efficiently did her job, while at the same time, being more entertaining than any subway act in NYC. Her comedic timing was nothing short of Lucille Ball. The guy at the next table was waiting for friends and she had this whole bit going on about whether or not his friends were real people. I ordered eggs Benedict with this bacon that you can choose to have instead of ham. It. Was. Amazing. My friend felt the same way about his food. They also brought us fresh baked bread and homemade jam that were equally as delicious. As we ate, we were given refills on coffee and water without even having to ask; we were checked on; and we were entertained. The only problem I had was that I almost spit out my coffee a couple times because of the waitress's hilarity. I am not sure of her name, but she has light brown, shoulder-length hair and the quickest wit this side of the Rocky Mountains. The other employees were pleasant too. I think that Milo must treat them really well. Speaking of Milo, he seemed very nice and the thing I noticed about him was that he worked just as hard or harder than all of the employees. It is so refreshing to see someone that treats people with respect and works alongside their employees. This guy seems like an amazing boss. Back to the food. The Bloody Mary's (is that how you make that plural?) were excellent, as was the food. Our dishes were served with a side of home fries and fruit. For everything, the bill was only $42. It was well worth it. Seriously, go to this place. Do yourself a favor.

First of all the place was packed, but the turn over was super quick. Don't be thrown off by the long line. Breakfast was delicious! My husband had the shrimp Thai Benedict special and it was fabulous. Just enough hint of curry, but not overwhelming. I had the crab cake Benedict and the bernaise was good, but I'd rather have hollandaise. My only complaint was that the English muffin was way bigger then the crab cake and there was little sauce (order an extra side). We will most likely be back. The service was fantastic!

We come here for dinners regularly and we love it. There is rarely a wait for a table and the service is wonderful and friendly. The menu has both small plates and full meals. There is a very large selection, portions are ample and prices are very reasonable. The food is fantastic. We have never left the restaurant feeling like our meal was less than excellent. The Willapa Bay oysters are my personal favorite and they are cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a dinner in the Lloyd District, this is the place to go.

I had a great experience here for breakfast the other day. From start to finish we had great service, and the food was excellent. We were seated at the bar, and the action behind the scenes was fun to watch. The staff greeted us, and they were all having a great time; it seemed like they really enjoyed working there. I liked that there were plenty of veggie options for my partner as well. He opted for a veggie scramble that he said was great. Lots of good quality fresh veggies mixed in with their tasty home fries. I had the fresh dungeness crab cake benedict... This was heavenly. There was so much crab, and the hollandaise sauce was perfect, and was great to dip the potatoes in. I think I paid $13 or $14 for the dish, and that was so worth it. I would have paid more. Top it off with a nice mimosa, and it was a great meal. I would like to try dinner and also some more of the breakfast menu again soon.

I had the poutine and it was not great but the service and beer were great. Other items looked good I spend a bit of time in Canada so might be picky with poutine.

Phenomenal food. This place rocks, not the fanciest place in town, however, the food is great! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, everything is made from scratch.

When I was fortunate enough to call Portland home my wife and I lived a short stroll from Milo's and quickly became huge fans. That was 8 years ago and I hadn't had the chance to come back since. When I found myself staying nearby recently I made a point of stopping in for dinner, and hoped it would be as good as I remembered. I went in with high hopes and was not disappointed. I am pleased to report that the Hungarian mushroom soup is as amazing as ever. One of the best soups I've ever had! I also indulged in the chicken parm sandwich. Pleased to report it is still a generous portion of awesomeness. Perhaps most impressive about Milo's is the extremely reasonable pricing. I enjoyed my evening visit so much I ate breakfast there the next morning as well. Surprise surprise, they make a great omelet too!

Prior to today, I've only eaten at Milo's for work breakfasts, and they've always been organized and nice with a large group. The food is fine, it's not bad, but it's not anything special for Portland. Today I met an out-of-town friend there because it was near her hotel and easy enough to catch the max to the airport from there. The food was, as usual, fine. The main server we had was funny and nice, not pushy at all. But five minutes after we'd paid for our meal and were still chatting, while I also still had coffee in my cup, a different server came by and asked if we needed change-for the tip that was sitting there, not from the bill we'd already paid. We said no, and she said "Ok because we have people lined up." I looked at the time. We'd been there for about an hour. Not two, or three, as if we were taking up a booth all day. I glanced outside and saw one family. My friend looked around the restaurant and pointed out at least three empty tables, so we started to just continue to talk for another few minutes. Until the same server returned immediately and said "Can I move you to a table to finish your coffee? We need this for kids who are waiting." At that point we left and I sincerely hope it's the first waiter who got our tip. I've been in restaurants were at the 90 minute or two hour mark, you begin to get some looks from staff-if people were lined up down the sidewalk. But I've never been asked to leave at barley over an hour, when there were empty tables and one family waiting.

What an incredible breakfast! My good friend, Alex took me here for my birthday today, and I was treated not only to a delicious smoked salmon scramble with sour cream, but also to very friendly and attentive service! When Alex sneezed, our server rushed over with a smile and a kleenex box! How's that for service?! Inside, Milo's is warm and cozy, kind of like a diner, but with better food.

The middle-age frump creeping in around my midsection is not being helped by how fantastic Milo's is, nor that it is also a few blocks walking distance from where I live. I look forward to my weekends not only because it grants me distance from the Orwellian nightmare that is my place of employment, but also because I can head to Milo's for a fantastic breakfast and the rare treat of coffee that I allow myself. I haven't tried everything on the breakfast menu, but then they don't even hand me a menu anymore because the always friendly, always hospitable servers recognize me and know that I have come for the Legendary Eggs of Benedict. I don't eat a lot of meat, so I get the veggie bennie, and it is fantastic... Throw some Cholula on the potatoes and hollandaise and I may as well be rolling around in it, happier than a pig in, well... hollandaise sauce. Their lunch, cafe, and dinner items have all been wonderful, and here is where I do need to see a menu, as they rotate certain items and there is a lot to try. Ask about the specials, always! Half the time I'll have decided on a menu dinner, then after hearing their daily specials from the server, my heart gives in to these new suggestions like a sailor being pulled into the briny depths of temptation under the mer-folk's thrall. EDIT: I forgot to recommend the Hungarian Mushroom soup. Do it. Now. I find that a bowl of HMS paired with their blackened chicken caesar is a formidable foe, indeed. The staff has always been quick, attentive, friendly, and witty... unlike so many hipster joints in Portland where they can barely stand to look at you. Here, they are fantastic. If I have only one desire for change, it's that their beer taps are few and usually run-of-the-mill. With all the great beer out there, especially in Portland, it'd be nice to have a bit more to choose from and more rotation, but then, this isn't a beer joint, and it's certainly not enough to warrant detracting from their score. Oh, and like most PDX breakfast spots, be ready for a small wait on weekends during breakfast/brunch hours. Love you guys!

Peanut butter makes ANYTHING taste better, but seriously their PB&J french toast is bonkers. SO good. Tasted like homemade strawberry jam which is amaze. Coffee was great. The atmosphere is random - made me feel like I was in a Dotty's or other video poker type "deli" - bright & airy but seemed like a strange space for me. Friends of ours love this place which made us come. It was super busy but we were treated w/ prompt, friendly service & agreed it's a sold go-to breakfast spot.

This place is in downtown Portland which is my go to place for breakfast - especially before a noon-time flight out of PDX. The service is great - and they offer a lot of food. Both time i've come here i've ordered the same thing....hands down the best thing....Dungenese Crab Benedict. This was butter sweet crab goodness surrounded by a sweet and tart house made hollandaise sauce. Definitely try it.

I can't believe I didn't write a review for this place yet! Went here earlier this year and had an awesome time with family! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. You will find the staff members at Milo's City Cafe are fun, friendly and attentive to their customers/guest. Try any of the Eggs Benedict! Hope you love it as much as we did!! And don't forget to try the Bloody Mary!

OMG -- what a great place! Highly recommend -- if you're in Portland, get yourself here!! Guess they're known for breakfast, but I visited for dinner when staying near Lloyd Center for business. Thursday night and it was packed. Fabulous menu (pastas, vegan, chicken, steaks, pork chop, sandwiches, salads, seafood) for all tastes. Was leaning towards the Squash and Gorgonzola ravioli but went with the fresh YellowTail with lemon, pesto, and the best barley you could ever dream of...one of the night's specials. Absolutely amazing! One of the best fish dishes I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and just the right amount of sauce for flavoring, but not too much to drown the taste of fish. Fun place for out-of-towners. You can perch at the counter and watch the chefs or the other diners and totally zone out. Wonderful, warm fresh bread and a nice wine/beer list with local favorites. My waitress was outstanding, even brought me a complimentary offering of Hungarian mushroom soup, which was also decadent & delicious. Reasonable prices, exquisite food, filling portions, & stellar service. Fairly plain atmosphere, but who cares with such a tremendous, unique menu & such welcoming hospitality. If I lived here, I'd be a regular.

When we lived in downtown Portland, this was one of our go-to places for brunch. If we weren't sure, we'd head here. A combination of the yummy food, the friendly staff, and the neighborhood feel always had us coming back. The servers here are so so nice and cheerful. They always recognized us and greeted us like long time friends. They were always aware of everything going on and seated people as promptly as they could. They surprised us with free coffee on their restaurant anniversary. We love these cute touches that make me feel like I'm eating at a good friend's place. We've tried many things and our favorites had become: - Fresh Dungeness Crab Cake Eggs Benedict - Carbonara or Corned Beef Hash - Chocolate & Peanut Butter Waffle The carbonara hash is filled with creamy garlic-y savory bacon goodness with crispy potatoes. I love the chunks of meat in the corned beef hash. And think of the chocolate peanut butter waffles as a giant Reese's cup that you're allowed to eat without guilt for breakfast.

I wanted to try a new breakfast spot, and chose Milo's based on the reviews and the menu. I have to say I'm not really a scramble type of person, usually I like my eggs in a taco or in a sandwich, but the ham green onion and pepperjack scramble was delicious - the eggs were cooked great. The preserves they have on the table went great on the sourdough toast. The potatoes weren't bad. I ordered a hot chocolate for $2.50 which was clearly a powder mix, it wasn't bad but I wouldn't order it again. After my food was dropped off the waiter kind of forgot about me because of an influx of customers through the door, but I wasn't super annoyed. I just had to wait a bit for him to bring me the check. I would absolutely come here again!

You really can't beat milos for breakfast....the food is always fresh, portions are great and the prices are really reasonable...this is my go to if I eat out for breakfast. My girlfriend and I usually get the the smoked salmon hash because it is amazing and so is there strawberry jam. I use the toast a vessel to eat it. They also have a great lunch and dinner menu. The seafood pasta for dinner is amazing. If you want something a little smaller the chicken Parmesan sandwich is amazing an really is big enough to split... If I ever have family come from out of town this is usually where I bring them

Milo City is one of my favorite places to go for breakfast in Portland. If you love Eggs Benedict, like me, you will adore the Marianne Eggs Benedict (Petite Tenderloin and bernaise sauce on an English Muffin). The servers at Milo's seem to really enjoy their job, and they aren't above making small talk (or jokes) with the customers. This light-heartedness makes this place stand out from the pretentious style of many of Portland's other breakfast spots.

  • Greg J.

Just had "breakfast" at Milo's. The nicest think I could say is the English muffin was grand. The service was quick and friendly, but the food was not up to par for Portland. I had the corned beef hash. It tasted like Safeway deli meat, minimal flavor, way too chewy and tasted old. It was thrown in with some potatoes that had been fried separately so no combining of flavors. That may have been good however, since neither of them tasted good. With the plethora of choices in Portland, don't spend your time or money here. I know I won't again.

I have to say that I no longer like Milo's. It always looks like a great place to eat and I like the atmosphere. But I'm always disappointed by the food because it's just okay. Nothing great nothing bad. I would say the portions are on the small side so getting a small amount of so-so food just ads to the disappointment. And then there is the wait to be seated. There is no waiting area so you stand there awkwardly watching others eat. There are just too many really great places to eat in Portland to waste your time and money on my Milo's.

  • Kam A.

We came here for a late breakfast shortly after arriving in town. We brought up our handy-dandy Yelp app and saw all the good reviews for this place and went post haste. There wasn't a wait and we were seated pretty quickly but very friendly staff. The BLT with a fried egg changed my life. 'Nuff said.

I live in the Sullivan's Gulch neighborhood and so Milo's is a frequent breakfast place I go when I want to treat myself. And I'll always go for the Fresh Dungeness Crab Cakes, which are amazing, every time, brilliantly crafted. Though service is iffy for me every now and then, maybe because I always come alone, and so am not given as much attention, but the food makes up for it. It's a place to go with your family for breakfast, I would recommend it to any visitor from out of town or newcomer. Don't forget to try the Crab Cakes.

Went here for brunch with my fiancé and enjoyed it very much. I had the salmon eggs Benedict and loved it. My fiancé had the pepper omelet and says it was good. The atmosphere is pretty casual. It is a nice place for brunch.

Note: My review is based on weekend breakfast. Other times/days will vary (different staff, seems to be a different mood to the place). ATMOSPHERE: Getting a little long in the tooth, maybe about time to be freshened up a bit. Still, it's okay, in a budget contemporary way (kinda has a bit of an Ikea feel). Don't get me wrong, it's definitely comfortable, and I don't mean comfortable like the stained couch in your basement. Best place on the block, in terms of atmosphere, which sounds like a compliment, but the point is you kinda have to slum it a bit to get here. (There's a Buffalo Wild Wings across the street, for Peet's sake!) SERVICE: Look, you're not going to like it here if you want to be treated like royalty. They'll treat you more like family. Loud, whimsical, sometimes bordering on overly-familiar, but I think they mean well. And they might be wearing shorts and a dirty shirt. I love it here, even when the service is rough, but if you want it to be Cadillac, you might be disappointed. I've never had a problem with substitutions, and even got a small off-menu add-on that I wasn't charged for. Once, I even ordered off-menu when the place was slow, and they did it for me. Obviously, this will always be at the staff's discretion, so don't expect it. FOOD: Consistently outstanding. Salmon in the omelette is sometimes a bit dry though. And dishes aren't always prepared traditionally, so ask if you're sensitive to that. Monte Cristo is great, if you like it in the crustless grilled-on-all-sides style. Sweet stuff isn't their strength: Waffles are a miss, small and thin, not much better than eggo. French toast is acceptable, but nothing special. You could do just as good at home. No pancakes. Weekend specials are somewhat imaginative, but can sometimes show up for an encore, weeks later (good or bad, depending on your perspective). They offer house-made (I think) fruit preserves on every table, in rotating varieties. So good, I sometimes check to see what's in the pot and order my breakfast accordingly. I'm not a condiment thief, but this stuff tempts me. PRICE/VALUE: Seems about average I guess. If I see a special on the website that looks good, I don't worry about what they're going to charge, I figure it will be fair. Scrambles are probably your best bet if you're looking for a hearty breakfast that won't blow the budget. RESTROOMS: "Out back" (shared). Well, at least it's not right next to your table. OVERALL: Even though their reach sometimes exceeds their grasp, this place is a treasure. If it was on, say, Mississippi or Hawthorne, the line would snake down the block. They open early, so you can be out the door while folks are still in line waiting for the cool trendy places to open.

Partner- In-Dine and I ate here today. Last week we had two pasta dishes for take-out. Both were pretty decent. Though, I did have to ask to be sure bread and butter were included. The Caesar salad dressing was quite good and happily packed separately. The problem came this morning after errands. We decided to try Milo's for breakfast. PID had Eggs Benedict with house potatoes and cup of fruit. I had Crab cakes &Eggs (loose) with house potatoes, and ciabatta bread with options for jam and butter. BOTH dishes came out fast. So, fast I wasn't sure the kitchen had not directly taken our order. The problems were immediately evident. My eggs were hard as rock and both dishes potatoes were barely warm to cold. Server was good and immediately took my dish back to fix both egg and potato issues. A new dish of HOT potatoes were brought out for my PID. I did not have a long wait for my dish to return. Eggs perfect. Potatoes still cool. I sent these back, as well. Third time was a charm. HOT potatoes, at last. I was rather shocked by these problems as there were only about half a dozen people in the place. Though, even McDonald's gets it right nearly 100% of the time. My other issue with the potatoes was the sad bits of red and green bell pepper and onions. The peppers were overcooked (strange given the decidedly under cooked potatoes) , the onions were blah. I would rather NO peppers and crisp, nearly black onions. The Dungeness crab cakes covered in Bernaise were excellent. Though, I did get a couple of small bits of internal shell. For the price the food should have been perfect. BTW no compensation was offered for all of the problems. I consider that poor overall customer service. I won't go back.

I moved to Portland in Oct. of last year, so not too long ago and I immediately wanted to find a breakfast place close to my apartment in the Lloyd District to frequent; low and behold, Milo's. The first time I came here was when my girlfriend was visiting on Halloween. Our waiter was dressed as Milo but my correlation was Milo from The Descendents. No one got the joke...Anyway, in a nutshell, the food here is delicious. Now, it's nothing fancy; it's a diner, they serve basic stuff but imo even basic breakfasts can suck and Milo's has a great Eggs + (add meat here) meal. We had hot chocolates that came with little hawaiian umbrellas which was cute. I've also had the parfaits which are HUGE and their steak and eggs are delicious. The decor is..ok. I mean, it tries to look like an old diner but it has weekly (or maybe monthly) art on the wall which kills the 50s diner mood they might be going for. However, the staff is super nice, very attentive and always on top of refills. If you want to get a great social vibe, sit at the bar near the kitchen; on Saturday and Sunday mornings there is a person who literally only toasts and butters bread because they are so busy. Everyone is chatty but you can definitely sit in a corner and brood if you need to. All in all, in my area where down the street there are chains like McD's, Burger King and Taco Bell; it's nice to be able to go up Broadway and find a homegrown breakfast joint which happens to be the best in a 5 mile radius. I highly recommend going to Milo's.

Person: Hey Ana What did you have for breakfast today? Ana M: Hmm... I don't remember...What day is it? ... Oh..wait, I went to Mylos. It was whatevez. A solid breakfast should stick with you, leave you energized, smiley, and in my case most often swearing to return to your diet on another day. I ordered a veggie scramble. As a person who has tried there hand in the kitchen on occasion I know veggies are watery. Wait Wait, did you just hear what I said? If *I*, a sporadic cook at best, knows that veggie make things watery why doesn't the cook at Mylos? My veggie scramble was watery...which is a bummer. Everything else was forgettable, except the eggs which I would much rather forget. Oh yea, and where the hell is my server? Ok Ok, I'm being to hard on this place. Perhaps as the saying goes it is not you..it's me? But I'm kind of doubting it. Other things looked good and I'd be willing to try a second time. They have the kind of menu that you have to look out forever and contemplate aloud with your friends. Options, Options, Options, which I like. The toast was yummy...but toast is always yummy. With Portland being so big on breakfast you gotta step up your game. Mylos you were forgotten by noon, but my addiction to yelp causes me to re-hash our time together.

For breakfast or brunch, Milo's City Cafe is always my fall-back choice. You won't be frowned upon if you request a bloody mary with your breakfast, and the coffee is abundant and local. Even if its crowded, the service and the food is worth the wait (which in my experience was never longer than 5 minutes). I've found I've also had better experiences than others by sidling up to the bar that skirts the kitchen. Maybe I'm biased, but I enjoy watching the chefs do their magic, and they're not opposed to recommending the best on the menu. I recently had the fried chicken eggs benedict special, and I was glad I listened to the specialists. The atmosphere is a bit noisy, and the booths are uncomfortable. So far, that's the only downside I've experienced with the joint.

Okay so it has been over three years since I last went here and reviewed it so I though, what the heck let's try this place again. So a friend and I went here for brunch after a nice relaxing morning getting pedi's. We sat down and order drinks first thing that we found odd was they ONLY serve drip coffee, no espresso, nothing. Then we ordered our breakfast and it was not good. Potatoes crunchy, Eggs runny, and when a server came over when we finally were just done we told her why we were not finishing our breakfast or taking it with us and I felt very uncomfortable when we were told that we need to tell someone next time and they went on about it for a bit. I am sorry I did not tell them right away but I was hungry, hoped it would get better, and don't like to send food back,

Marianne Benedict was amazing!! Best service in town! Thumbs up on the French toast from the kiddos. Went after 1pm & got seated right away. Yummy food came out super fast. It was fresh and we went again, three weeks in a row! Took some out-of-towners there and they also enjoyed.

I think that Milo's has the best Eggs Benedict in the city. I've never been for lunch...breakfast is my meal of choice when I stop in here so I have tried just about everything on the menu for breakfast. The Blackstone, Smoked Salmon and Marianne eggs Benedict are all mouthwateringly fantastic. They also offer a wide array of delectable omelets and I almost always order a mimosa here as well. It gets crowded on the weekends but what breakfast joint doesn't? They're great with families and larger crowds as they have a lot of movable tables and their bar is a great spot if you're flying solo and want to skip out on the long wait list.

This restaurant was close to the B&B we were staying at and we figured we would give it a try. What a great place. Service was excellent. There were lots of delectable offerings on the menu. We were less adventuresome this evening so we opted for a barbeque pulled pork sandwich and a spinach salad. We told our server that we were going to split the meal. The food came quickly. They split if for us on two plates. And I bet we got more than if we had split it. Both servings were totally delicious. The bill came promptly. That's always a treat for me...... I like to be in control of when I leave. We always have a tough time in Europe where the hardest thing to do is to get the bill it seem. So we had a great experience and will be back. Next time to try the other dishes as it seemed everyone else at the restaurant was loving.

great neighborhood brunch place - fantastic crabcakes and eggs benedict dishes. the salmon hash was one of the best things i've eaten in awhile, although i wish there was more salmon in it instead of a few little chunks. great service, good coffee, nice room - quiet and unstuffy. i'd definitely go back the next time i'm hungry for breakfast in the NE.

I love hash and eggs. The problem is: I don't eat meat other than fish, so finding vegetarian or fish base hash is a bit hit and miss. Milo's offers both vegetarian and smoked salmon hash, and they are both wonderful There breakfast menu is comprehensive and the food is good. I've only had breakfast here, so I can't really speak to the lunch and dinner selections. The place can get very crowded on the weekends so get there early or be prepared to wait.

This place is definitely A-OK. The service is quick for lunch & the food is good, but nothing is spectacular. It is 'safe' food that you can bring your grandparents to. The summary: Food: 3 (medium, rather than mediocre) Atmosphere: 4 (nice enough for grandma, including 40s big-band music (bonus +1)) Service: 3 (not crappy, not extraordinary) Value: 3 (it's not a deal, but not a gouge) Sustainability: 1 (no mention of it, incandescent lights) Of course, while it is classic American food, this is much better than 'family' restaurants (usually that's code for cigarrettes and screaming children). The interior is clean and the servers seem to actually like their job. It really is like Mother's just on the eastside & sans the youth and tattoos. The seafood linguini I had (10$) was chock full of salmon and shrimp; the bread had to have been local--it was crusty and soft and delicious. I do have to mention though that all the lights were incandescents: technology from the 1920s and a waste of energy. So they're not your quintessential Portland hangout, but it was a solid, tasty meal. Bring your mom and have a benedict of your life... (I hear that's good). The menu was fairly limited and basic (which isn't a bad thing). It included pasta dishes (ravioli, linguini, etc. in the 8-10$ range), cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches (burgers, portobello sandwich, chicken sandwich, reuben), and breakfast. BTW: breakfast is served all day for those hungover on a Tuesday. It will help, I'm almost positive. I won't be rushing back, but I definitely won't avoid the place.

If the star rating was for food alone it would be a 2 star rating. The service convinced me of the extra star. We had 2 young kids, 2&4 and the server brought out their OJ with plastic monkeys. The kids were thrilled. We were off to a great start. Then the food came out. Mediocre at best. Corned beef was strips of beef but mostly buried under greasy potatoes. There was a ratio of about 90/10 potatoes to corned beef. My toast was stale! It tasted like it was toasted then sat out for an hour then buttered. Definitely not freshly toasted. My sunny side eggs were done nicely. My friend had the crab cakes...the tiny small crab cakes... And did not like the bernaise sauce that accompanied it. Coffee was bland. Tasteless. I so wanted something to be delicious so I reached over to the 2 year olds peanut butter French toast. Delicious. So I prayed that he didn't want to finish his French toast since he was so occupied with his batman mobile. I snuck in a few bites. They were accommodating with the young boys and weren't bothered by their youthful banter. I don't know that I will return.

GO TO...go to breakfast spot...you may have to wait, but you get coffee while you stare down those that you want to hurry up and finish. Eggs Benedict specials on the weekends...the best yet was fried chicken eggs benedict with a gravy-aise sauce. Heaven on a benedict earth!!! Should you choose to have a liquid breakfast...Red's Bloody Mary will make you want another, then another, and another after that...you may even see a pink monkey on the pick of your olives. A great place for breakfast with a crowd for people watchin!

Quirky staff, clean and welcoming interior. The Hungarian mushroom soup is sinfully good. If you're looking for quick, large portions, and friendly waitstaff, this is the place for you. I also loved their bread service and marionberry compote. I could probably live off the soup and the bread and jam.

I just don't understand a chef with a full beard that is about 3 inches long NOT covering it with a hair net. I am so put off by that. If someone has long hair they have to pull it back or wear a hat, but a full messy beard is OK?!! Not in my book! I ordered an egg white omelet but the egg whites were way overcooked, like rubber. The items inside the omelet were not even cut up, well some were and some not. Whole pieces of bacon thrown inside and not cut up. A little hard to eat that way. The presentation was null and void. The chef could have at the very least put a slice of orange or some parsley on the plate instead there was nothing. People nearby ordered benedicts. If I ever give them another try I guess that is what I will order but honestly there are so many other breakfast places in Portland I am not sure I would go back due to the unsightly unkept exposed beard of the chef which is a real turn off. The owner of Milo's should really do something about that. So all you regulars who just love Milo's City Cafe beware that you may beard hair in your food. You had better give your plate the once over just in case.

Service is always great. I have to be honest here and say that I have only had eggs benedict here for breakfast but that's because this is the ONLY place in Portland that I have tried that does it well. It's always hit or miss with some places but Milo's consistently makes a killer eggs benedict. Dinner has also been consistently good but now that I don't live in the neighborhood, I only go here for breakfast. It's not a super 'hip' or trendy place but it's warm, inviting, and in a great location.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! The food is great and the owner, Milo, and his family actually work in there which is really nice. We've been there for dinner twice and really enjoyed our meals both times. They have amazing specials and I especially love their Bistro dishes. They also have excellent desserts and the servers we've had both times have great personalities and were really fun. I can't wait to go back!

We were quickly seated to a nice, non-sticky table, with enough room around us that we weren't bumping elbows with the other guests. But the place is busy and very busy. Our breakfasts were delicious. This was the first time I ordered Eggs Benedict in years. Oh my, yum, yom, nom, nom, nom. I was drooling to try their omeletes the next time I come. We also loved how fast they served us. We walked over from the convention center and had to get back to man our table/booth. Breakfast took less than 40 minutes, which included the walk. Clean, bright, cheerful, fast, and the best tasting breakfast around.

I don't judge books by their covers. But is it right to judge a restaurant having only sampled one thing from their menu? Well I'm going to do it anyway because the food was amazing as was the service, so I feel obligated to let my voice be heard. My brother and I stopped in one Saturday morning and ordered a couple things to go. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Blackstone and he ordered its filet mignon counterpart. The service was prompt, courteous, and really quite good. We were in and out on a busy morning in no time. The food was amazing. My eggs benedict was delicious but definitely not the best thing to eat in the car on the road. Still, I look forward to coming here again this time I hope to sit down, relax, and savor the meal instead of wolfing it down in a post-binge drinking frenzy. Note to self: Eggs Benedict is definitely one of the hardest things to eat in a fast moving car.

Love this place! So glad they are open for dinner now. Pros: Great food, drinks (not on menu, but they do have liquor), Eggs Benedict Marianne. Cons: First come, first serve. no place to wait (other than on the street). Suggestion to Milo's: featured artists, rather than cruddy bambo/watercolor things.

Can you say gooooooey and delicious? I knew you could! (yes, I miss Mr. Rogers) Anyway, that's how I'd describe the hot vegetarian sandwich at Milo's. I popped in there for an unplanned solo meal at the peak of lunch hour last week and had a great experience overall. The host (who also was my waiter, and I think maybe the manager or owner - feel bad that I don't know) seated me promptly at a table instead of the counter when I said I needed to work during lunch, and generally made me feel very relaxed and at ease. He took my order and delivered my food very quickly, kept my iced tea filled, and made it clear that I didn't have to rush out. I've eaten breakfast here in the past, and enjoyed a pleasantly sassy waitress and great breakfast food (can't offhand remember what I ate that time). This place will definitely be on my 'return there soon' list.

We've been to Milo's many times for breakfast and have always liked it. The food is great and the wait staff is very friendly. But, we had a strange experience yesterday and probably will not go back. We had a group arriving in several cars and we knew being Saturday morning that we might have to sit a different tables to accommodate everyone. When we arrived with 3 and asked for a table for 5 they put us on the list. There were 3 open tables including one table that would seat 5 ready ready yet we stood and waited to be seated. Eventually we asked what was going on and they said that the entire party must be present before we could be seated. Now, the hostess had not told us this when we signed in. So, calls went out to the 2 missing in our group who were stuck in traffic. Rather than wait we said that it would only be 3 of us and we were seated right away. Well, before we had a chance to order, one of the missing members of our group came along and they would not allow him to sit with us even though we had a open seat at our table and had not yet ordered. We were told by the hostess that it was "against the rules and would encourage bad behavior". Luckily, some more in the group came along and they were all able to get a table together. This experience was rather awkward and rude and turned the entire groups opinion of Milo's.

Milo's has great food and they are a busy restaurant. Sometimes this success can go to the heads of the wait staff. and they can take the success for granted and treat their guests like garbage and make them feel unwelcome. Such is the case with our waitress named Red. Red was actually not the person who originally waited on us but she took over our section just as we were finishing up our meal and had tipped out our waiter (An Hispanic man who, by the way, offered us exceptional service). She knew that we were finished and that we would not be ordering from her and so she immediately set about trying to get us out the door as fast as possible. She interrupted our conversation several times. She asked us to help clean her table and when I left a glass of water on the table she asked me,"Aren't you going to give me the water glass"? Several minutes later she gave us a sarcastic look and said, "When are you going to give me my table back"? We immediately left. I have never been treated that way by a server before. The restaurant had nobody waiting at the time that she kicked us out and when I called the manager to tell her about it, the first thing that she told me was to make it short because she was busy and had to get back to the restaurant. She then went on to make several excuses for why Red was rude to us including "She didn't realize that there wasn't a wait". I knew then why Red was able to remain employed and treat her guests like trash. Portland has too many good restaurants to have to settle for this kind of treatment, even if the food is good.

My coworker kept talking about how this place had the best breakfast in town... come to find out, he hasn't been there for a couple years. Now, maybe something big has gone down in the past 2 years... because I found Milo's to be quite average. Goods: - Fresh squeezed juice - Bearnaise sauce - Potatoes: better than most, and I don't even like potatoes - Marionberry jam: yum - Waitress: had a good sense of humor and was somewhat attentive - Wait: about 15 minutes (interesting) on a Sunday at 10:15am - Atmosphere: pretty cool... hipish, spacious, but not too over the top - Lighting: not too bright and not too dark Ehs: - Traditional eggs benedict (eggs over done) - Steak and eggs (steak over done) - Coffee... started w/ the decaf and it was pretty blah, switched to the regular and it was tastier, but still pretty dull I really don't see any reason to go to breakfast here again though... nothing stood out enough to make me dream about heading back (and if you think that I'm joking about dreaming about food, you're mistaken). I did really like the orange juice, but hey - I can get that at the grocery store!

Looking for a good Sunday breakfast hit up Milo's! I have never waited more than 5 mins for a table & the staff is very friendly, you can tell they are all friends and enjoy their job. My boyfriend and I will each get a breakfast dish and share the pb & jelly French toast, such a treat! If you sit at the bar Topher is a hoot!

the counter seating is actually very comfortable; that's not always true. the service was prompt & friendly, including the fact that my coffee cup was never empty. this is critical when you're out for breakfast. i had a plain waffle & a side of bacon. lots of bacon, and just the right distance between crisp & flexible. it wasn't a "crisp" waffle as advertised, but it was yummy. i wanted something like this when i went in, and i got exactly what i wanted. the 2 young women who sat next to me at the counter were obviously regulars, and the server (who did a great job for me, too) not only made them feel special, he anticipated the wishes of one & offered her a single slice of french toast with her order. she was very happy.

I went here for a informal meeting and just as my star rating says, it was "Meh". The fellow at the door was extremely nice and attentive, but the food was not the best. I ordered a spinach salad with gorgonzola and bacon with dressing on the side and my friend ordered a Cesar salad with shrimp. So when I get my order, I have bacon pieces not on the salad, but in the dressing (weird) and my friend has hot steamed shrimp on her salad which was rapidly wilting under the shrimp (super weird). It's kind of like they really don't know how to prepare the dishes here. Anyhow, I'd go back and try something they can't screw up... like soup.
