I'm quite disturbed at what I just witnessed. The female manger working the lunch shift today loudly and publicly berating her employees several times in the presence of customers. Snapping at the kitchen through the food pick up as she calls out the names of employees and that she could hear their mouths all the way up front. Meanwhile, I didn't hear them, and I was standing at the counter. Later she yelled at a counter employee not to move - as in don't step away from the register. Just before I walked out in disgust, she was berating yet another employee. I couldn't hear the employee, but the manager was forcefully saying "I don't know what your talking about!" and "When they ask for a refill - (unintelligible) - you need to pay attention to detail!" Look, it's McDonalds. People know what to expect as far as food quality, and it is what it is. What I don't expect is to have to endure watching someone with an overinflated sense of self importance mistreat and abuse those who can't defend themselves. Yes, you're a manager, but you're severely lacking as a leader. I'm sure Mickey D's won't miss my money, but in the future, I will not subject myself to such unpleasantness. If I go in, and she's there on a tirade, I would end up saying something to her. It's best if I just walk a few steps to the left or right and get something else to eat.

For the most part, this place has really cleaned up. I was in Portland for a Work Conference and had read the reviews here on Yelp knowing "it's dirty" "gross", Despite I figured I'd check it out to get a quick bite to eat. THE GOOD: The place looks very nice and clean on the inside, the employees are generally helpful, and food time was rather Quick. THE BAD: This place is located in Downtown Portland, naturally there are homeless people and considering it's a McDonald's with Cheap food, they tend to wait outside/around. Management Staff seemed scattered, and what I mean by that is; the employees were nice and helpful but it seemed like management was Confused on their own directions to lower staff. I hope you enjoyed the review, and remember DESPITE what others may say, Give a place a chance. Then give your opinion.

Uhh, super rude manager type. Complained loudly about my wanting to sub bottled water in a meal for the soft drink ( because it " costs" more). Botched about me to his employee within earshot. Said my sandwich would take 7 minutes, took over 15. Rolled his eyes hard when I asked for fresh fries. They hadn't made any in over 20 minutes. Toilet had urine all over it. Kept my receipt and claimed I took it. I need to reread Fast Food Nation which kept me away from shit holes like these for a long time. This place is only thing open after I get off work late...

Food is good. Seats available. Sometimes they are busy but not always. Intersting lighting.

I came here the other day because I have the McD app on my phone and wanted to redeem a half priced McCafé beverage. The employees were super friendly, patient, and pretty helpful. I ordered a medium hazelnut iced coffee and because I arrived during their happy hour (2 for 1 between 2 pm - 5 pm) I could get a large for the same price since I was only buying one. There was a lot of miscommunication for some reason because I explicitly said I wanted just the medium (the large looked like a big gulp), yet two employees kept encouraging me to get the large. I know it's a better deal, but I don't want the extra calories. The message eventually got across that I wanted the medium drink half off (with my coupon). I got my drink for only $0.69. A win for me! I try to avoid McDonald's for their burgers as there are plenty of other local establishments downtown that aren't so generic like the Mickey D's chain, but sometimes they just have good deals that are hard to pass up.

This McDonald's is good. As usual, it maybe tacky but feeding customers foods that are inexpensive, but cause temporary thrill is no joke of an endeavor. There are lots of tables and the staff are friendly. I came here since I can keep track of my calories. My order for a ten piece Chicken McNugget was fulfilled instantly for less than five dollars. The dollar menu offers a lot. Portland offers plenty of competition among far better food for five dollars, such as with plenty of local gyro carts. Nothing is unique in a culinary way, but the consumer wins with more choices. Go here if it makes you happy.

You've got to review a place for what it is and what this place is...is really cheap plentiful crap for you to get fat on. There is nothing healthy about McD's, not even their "salads" but hey, you're not coming here because you're concerned about your figure or about what you're putting in your body. The real story is they deliver grease, and plenty of it. From breakfast to dinner you can get your American guaranteed same taste, flavor, and texture meal the same as you can get at any other McD's. I'm not knocking it. Really. Because sometimes I want that simple and easy burger experience or I crave me some compressed chicken mash that's been breaded and deep fried to the point that if it ever really was chicken heck, you'd have no idea! But it doesn't matter because you're going to slather it in copious amounts of sweet sweet BBQ sauce and drink it like a shake! Oh and the fries! EVERYONE loves the McD fries! Someone who says they don't is either a liar or heck, they're not a true American! Hot salty goodness dripping with fresh oil. Hell, that's better than late night porn right there (and you get to taste it!). What more could you ask for? Oh, yeah, since I said that..I can tell you what more you can ask for! This location is a transient's dream! You can experience the true skids of PDX here with the people asking for your change both outside AND when you're in line! The only thing it's missing is people shooting smack in the can...oh hell, I think they have that too! Entertainment, great crazy conversations with some of Portland's weirdest street folks, and fat ass American style cuisine and you can enjoy it for a mere buck if you want. Damn I love this country!

It's a hangout for the local street kids. If you like dirtballs and foul mouths then this is the McDonald's for you. If not, then make your way to one of the many food carts in the area and save yourself the headache.

This McDonald is the closet one to Pioneer Place [Mall] and is a good place to kill time [inexpensively] while waiting for friends or for the night to begin. Since it is downtown, you'll get a mixture of people here from the underprivileged to college students to business people. But it's a McDonald so I'll get to the point: - Unlike most downtown public restrooms, this one does not require a key and is open to the public. - Currently they do the happy hour McCafe drinks *buy one get one free" (from 2-5pm I think) but since I was by myself, the cashier offered to upgrade my medium coffee to a large for free (1.69 for a large vanilla iced coffee, score) - Currently, they have a 2 for $5 Big Mac deal, which is pretty good in my opinion if you like Big Macs. And why I am reviewing a McDonald's you ask? Because I'm trying to become a Yelp Elite by 2015. Let the conquest begin!

I stopped on my way to work just now. Way more expensive than most McDonald's. I ordered two hash browns and only received one. It was also really old as it was cold and really mushy and flimsy. I asked for hot sauce for the burritos and was given ketchup. The soda was flat and had no carbonation. Not given a receipt either. I go to call them just now using the phone number listed on yelp. It's a fax number. How convenient. The first and last time I'm coming here. Honestly the worst mcd experience I've had.

its a McDonalds. no surprises there. this particular location is basically a homeless clown car -- how many street dwellers can you put inside at one time?

    (2)
  • Ana R.

Great customer service. The girl that took my order was extra nice. What I didn't like is the hoards of homeless people pestering for change at the exit. But that's a Downtown problem.

  • Miwako T.

This location is less than a block away from the Arlene Schnitzer concert hall. We had an 'emergency' lunch there since our original plan for stopping by at a cafe in NW before a matinee failed. And it was such a relief to find some food at reasonable price right there. So it seems that they started putting sliced apples and made the french fries portion much smaller and get them both in a Happy Meal. I like that. We don't go to McDonald's often but last time it was that you could choose between fries or apples. Didn't try the wifi.

  • Cynce T.

I'll admit - I frequent this McD's entirely too often since I work right across the street. I usually get the $1 large soda. The staff seems to have a somewhat low turnover, which is surprising. The only thing that I dislike about this location is that there are a LOT of homeless/street urchin that congregate around the doors begging for money.

  • Don B.

Friendlier people than you would find at most McDonald's The same damn food you would get at any McDonald's. Customers that you would expect to see at the McDonald's located inside the state mental hospital. Stop being lazy and eat somewhere else... Unless you're in a hurry and you're hungover on your way to work and all you really need is a Sausage McMuffin with Egg and some greasy hash-browns to keep you straight, take the extra 5 seconds, search in Yelp, and find something better for your tastebuds, your stomach, and your heart.

  • Monty H.

The staff here with a few minor exceptions is as friendly as it gets, and they KNOW their regulars... Impressive on a college campus with 30,000 students!

next time we go outta town, i'm gonna remember to bring an extra suitcase for the McDONALD's kid-meal toys JULIANA and WYATT always seem to collect during our trips. i'm already not a huge fan of MICKEY D's but the short people can't seem to get enough and when mom and dad want to go somewhere with a menu that's not particularly kid friendly, it's tough to not get soft and relent. this place, however, was pretty close to the bottom of my McDONALD experiences. it was really filthy. when the boy and i got back so quickly from the bathroom, the wife wanted to know if we'd washed our hands. i gave her a hard stare and answered they'd be cleaner if i rinsed them in the urinal. the sad part was, that wasn't much of an exaggeration.

I'm the Duchess of McDonald's OH HELL YEAHHH....!!! It's like my ultimate goal in life. :D. I'm just kidding. I don't eat McDonald's everyday, but this one is so convenient on my commute route to work, and sometimes I forget to bring my breakfast. So every now and then I like to indulge on the Sausage Egg McMuffin. That's the only item that I like from McDonald's. Don't judge me, k. :).

  • Matt M.

Dude, it's fucking McDonalds. It's a go-to place for a burst of calories. All I see is 60 grams of protein and 600 calories for three bucks. This one has some awesome beggars hanging about. SUPER EXTREME TIMING BONUS!! Nuggets right out of the fryer this morning. FUCK YES!

  • Chris S.

While the construction is a bit of a mess, and the transient population has added this outside this location in their newsletter as "THE Place to be during lunch"... this is the CRAZY FRIENDLIEST McD's I've ever been in. AND I've never been in and out in more than 3 minutes... super-fast and accurate! Golden Arches (pro): Fast, friendly and... well... food. Golden Barfs (con): Dirty restrooms and exterior.

    (4)
  • Rex S.

I gotta agree with Chris S. Yeah you get a different 'transient' every time you go there, it can be quite entertaining at times. But...the staff is good, fast, and friendly. They have never screwed up my order and the also have a loud TV on that makes it nice in the AM when your just getting going. I once bought a dude breakfast cause he told me he was hungry. I saw him again 5 minutes later and he was so wasted he didn't remember me buying him the breakfast he was eating. The place isn't the cleanest, but I'm liking it more and more (yikes!). It's like a different episode every time I go in.
