My wife and just shared a Big Kahuna burger. It was delicious! The onion ring and bacon were crispy and tasty and contrasted nicely with the pineapple in the sandwich. The service was great and attentive. Facilities clean and comfortable.

So we decided to give this place a try. Sunday around 4 pm we pull in the lot and no cars. The wife looks and me and asks are they open ? I tell her the sign says they are so in we go. We stand waiting for over five minutes before someone see's us. (not a good sign) We look around and discover this place is empty. (another not a good sign) This location has been a lot of different places over the years in fact it was the Melting Pot last time I was in here so I was curious to see how it looked. A lot of big screen TV's and otherwise nothing much. We look at the menu, a few Burgers & some tacos that's about it. The wife looks and me and says wow not much to choose from they must have one hell of a burger. She got a patty melt with sweet taters and I got the classic with Bacon with fries. This was a ok burger not the best by any means and by no way a In-N-Out. The patties seemed like a Costco patty and the fries were not very good. The price for this with one Lemonade was $20. I could have gone to any fast food place and gotten better at half the price. I now see why no one is here, another few months they will be gone.

This place has basic but good burgers. I see some reviews say that Joe's is expensive, but I think its pretty reasonable. The prices are higher than fast food, but these are real burgers, so I'd say its a good value. Other reviews say that the menu is limited, which I disagree with - it is not extensive but it does offer a decent range of burgers. I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger Basket with yam fries, I and highly recommend it!

Have I died and gone to heaven? A heaven full of in n out style burgers? Nope, I'm just at Joe's Burgers. There is so much love in my heart for this place. It's the next best thing to driving for ten hours to get to an in n out. Plus it's kid friendly on the main floor, but there's also a full bar with happy hour and a 21 and over game room. They're basically telling me: there's no reason you can't come here EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. Nope. That's my wallet's job.

LOVE Joe's Burgers! Have been to this one and the Bridgeport cart and both are great. This one had great sit down service with friendly wait staff who made great conversation. The food is way better than In N Out so I am happy I found a place like this here in Oregon!

Wanted a great burger and fries and this is not the place. Menu very limited and the burgers tastes like they are from Costco as well as the fries. They tasted like frozen fries out of the freezer. Very disappointing and we won't be back. It's a shame as this place was awesome when it was Jopa's and had pasta ravioli to die for. Sorry Joe's you can do better.

So, I just demolished a classic double burger....again. It was delicious. This is one of the best burgers in town. The fries are excellent as well. Think In-N-Out in Portland....sans lines and dirty kids. The service is always fantastic. A lot of the same staff from Jopa and Joes Bridgeport are here. I've never had a bad experience!

First off this is a family restaurant with a separate bar so if you have kids, you can still come here, just not to the bar section. This place was ok. Not great, but not terrible. As others have said, the menu is limited, while they offer a few other items, the main focus is on burgers. I had a bacon and cheese burger. Had your usual toppings. Forget that silly Mayo, ketchup and mustard. its 2013. The burgers have a special sauce that tasted good. little spice, little sweetness. The burger is not the best, but a little better then the chains for about the same price. The interior decor is a little dark but roomy/cozy.TV screens, and like I said a separate bar. Plus an outdoor patio. I'll go again and give them another shot. maybe I'll update my review then.

I'd heard good things about this place, so when I was in the area around noon, thought I'd give it a try. I wish I hadn't. The menu is quite limited. I found the list of burgers uninspiring. I ended up with a patty melt; one of my favorite ways to have a burger. I can say in all honesty it was, by far, the worst patty melt I've ever tried. I literally could not taste the beef in the surprisingly modest-sized burger due to far too much "sauce." The sauce seemed to be a mixture of mayonnaise, ketchup, and sweet pickle relish. It was horrible. To make it worse, the sandwich was not served on rye. Instead, it was served on what I believe was "Parmesan toast" or something like that. It had no discernible flavor and added nothing to the sandwich. I ended up leaving nearly half the sandwich on the plate when I left. It just wasn't worth eating. The fries that accompanied the burger (at extra charge) were OK. Nothing special. I doubt I'll be back.

Decided to give this place twice a try after Jopa left. The burgers themselves are just fine- nothing spectacular. I grew up in California and In-N-Out this place is not. Neither does it compare to Five Guys as other reviewers have mentioned. I was a little disappointed in the fries- they were mediocre at best. For a larger sit-down restaurant, I would expect at least a little variety - like a choice to add different toppings, or even a couple of other burger choices like salmon. This place totally has potential - it's just not quite there now.

  • Dave D.

Service was great but the food and drink were just not there. Same family that ran Jopa out of the same location but way different menu and table fare. If you like not so great bugers and fries this is the place for you. If you miss the great food that Jopa used to serve go find a new place to eat.Just say'in even the drinks tasted nasty! Only thing that was good was PBR served in the can.

When I went into Joe's it was practically empty. I think we were actually the only people there, granted it was Tuesday before 5. Anyways, the service was really friendly and attentive, probably because they had nothing else to do. The milkshakes are great. Yum! The burgers are okay. They have really good concepts for their burgers and there seems to be a good ratio of ingredients on their burgers; however, their burgers are those pre-cut, frozen patties you buy at the store. It wasn't terrible, but I just wish that they would make their own burgers there since it IS a BURGER BAR. The menu looks like a typical sports bar kind of menu. Nacho's, pastas, and burgers. I think that for a BAR this is actually a pretty normal combination of things to put on the menu. I'll probably go back because the food isn't really expensive and I had a fairly good experience.

I want to like this place: it's close to the house and it's not a chain. But wow...a burger joint where I can't specify how I want my burger cooked? And every option on the kids menu is fried - no other options. Service was surprisingly good but the food quality guarantees I won't be back.

Portland needs to get over itself. I hope Joe's sponsors Yelp so they can get some of these ridiculous reviews removed (yes, Yelp does that). Yeah, it's overpriced, but it's a damn good burger. Now shut up.

When I decided to stop at Joe's what I expected was basic burger fare. I was not disappointed it was at best basic and minimally satisfying. My wife had a chicken burger or something like it. Enough said about the food. We stopped on a Friday night. When we walked in we were greated by the sound of screaming kids, yelling parents, tables gaffawing at some antic by another parent. It was as if all sense of consideration for others went out the window. In order to talk with our waitress we had to yell. We gave up on having a conversation because of the noise. The group at the table next to us provided some entertainment when one of the female adults reached for her soda and spilled the pitcher all over the table. Fortunately it didn't reach us. Would I go there again? Not on a bet.

Great burgers at a great price. For me, it is the marriage between Dick''s Drive-In and Burgerville.

Not the greatest, but it'll totally do in a pinch. The other Yelp reviews are accurate-- kinda thin patties, but what you'd expect from an old-fashioned burger (get a double). No gourmet anything, but if you want a gourmet burger, go to Clyde Common instead.

    (3)
  • Lemonleen C.

These aren't gourmet burgers, but good old-fashioned drive-in burgers. Yes, the patty is too thin for the bun and toppings (order a double), but the meat and bun take on the flavor of the grill to make the burger super tasty. I'll go back.

Burgers great, simple and drinks cheap. If you like 5 guys burgers and fries or In N Out (california) then try this one. When we went they sat us in an area with a lot of kids and we dont have any so this was a problem because they were so noisy and dont know what made them think to sit us with them. Need to learn to better seat people. Servers took long to take our drink orders so we asked to place our order immediately.

eft a 1 star review and will not allow my experience here to lower myself to do so. i live in the area and finally stopped by. the restaurant was clean the wait staff was awesome no complaints at all and I tipped them well for service NOT FOR THE FOOD... I ordered a Patty melt with fries and side salad. The salad was awesome prob 1st time I ever said that in my life ;) The patty melt was left half et, and for a fat man I cannot recall when I left food behind :( fries where ok in the style of Mcdonalds. The Catsup ????? WTF ?? I have never experianced this, this.... Homemade ??? terrible. Will never return, Will Never recomend

Gross food and bad atmosphere. Need I go on? It feels like a carpeted fast food restaurant. The burgers are gross. Most of the food is clearly frozen. Super greasy. Special sauce is weird and gross. Service is ok, but not fantastic. I can't even begin to describe what it's like inside, it's just so strange. They clearly ripped out everything that was in there for Jopa, bought a bunch of tables, chairs, red plastic cups, red plastic baskets and called it a day. Then thought, who likes burgers? People who watch sports. So they threw up a few TVs and bought a few "bar" games (pool and the like) and called themselves a burger bar? burger restaurant? who the hell knows. This area needs a few good restaurants and we keep getting more crap. Thank goodness Sasquatch (sp?) is opening soon and Cocina Verde moved in too.

The burgers remind us a lot of In-n-Out. The shakes and fries and onion rings top notch. the drinks out of the bar and the draft selection are great. But those stating the service is great must mostly eat at McDonalds. From the "geez, why are you calling me" attitude on the phone(jackiiiieeee) to the getting half our order at a time to the dirty dishes (ok basket)left in front of me forever and right through paying the check, the service is a 4. The food is reasonably priced, good for kids and groups. We'll go back but it's for the kids and never on date night. I'd never stand for the service on an adult night.

Tried this location after getting a burger at the Bridgeport location. Menu seemed to have more selection here. There was also a happy hour menu with other burger selections. Happy hour prices were pretty good. My girlfriend had a shake which she thought was excellent. Ate in the bar area, which wasn't to busy on a Saturday afternoon. It was a better option than getting a fast food burger.

I like the food, and the terrific milkshakes are right out of an old fashioned 50's diner! Wish there were a few more options for non-meat eaters on the menu. (Yea, I know it's a burger joint, but lots of diners have mixed eaters in their party.) If I were rating on food and service alone I'd probably go for five stars, but ambiance counts too, and that's where the SW Portland location disappoints. First, it has noisy old-fashioned video game machines in the dining room. Kids are drawn to them, they squeal and climb on them as if they were at a park, they fall off and smack their heads and wail, they stand on the seat and have loud conversations across the room with their parents, (still sitting at their tables) about whether or not their parents will give them quarters to play, or negotiate with parents (still sitting at their tables) trying to get them to stop playing because their food is getting cold. And when the games are in play, the motors are quite noisy. Second, they have tv screens on every wall. This is not what I would choose, but easy enough to shut out when they are muted with closed caption on. I enjoy following my team while eating. What I don't like, and has caused my spouse and me to periodically decide "never again" (for a while), is that, when customers come in who want the volume turned up they do it. Last time I was in, and it may indeed be our last time, my family and I were eating there. There were four other tables with couples and families, TVs were muted, music was playing over the speakers. Then a dad and his young son came in, sat at the very back table in the room (so they could get a good view of the tv on the wall across from them--not the one immediately over their heads), and asked their server to turn the volume on, loud enough for them to hear across the room. Suddenly the tv was blaring, especially loud for those of us sitting close to the tv, and the dad and son were cheering/jeering loudly away. The other diners were looking at each other; "is this really happening?" Someone asked the server if she would lower the TV volume, but she said the dad and sone wouldn't be able to hear well enough. I asked if she would turn off the music, so at least we weren't bombarded with the play by play AND rock n roll. For some reason she didn't turn the music off. Within a few minutes all of the customers had cleared out except the dad and his son who had the dining room to themselves. The server didn't seem to care that the loud announcing and cheering/jeering of two customers had wrecked an afternoon out for everyone else. (The restaurant and the dad gave the little boy an unfortunate lesson in the pleasure of entitlement.) She was a regular server so I can't chalk her choices to inexperience. Third, they have a large space on the second floor where they schedule parties for soccer teams, high school graduations, bachelor parties, etc. Which is great for the party goers! The room has no walls, just a waist high rail overlooking the dining room, with some loose curtains. It can get quite loud up there, esp as the alcohol flows, esp when the adults ignore the kids. Unfortunately, hosts and staff don't make an effort to keep party goers from disturbing other diners. Often there are kids running up and down the central staircase between the dining room and the party room, or loud conversations between people in the upper party room and people below, for example, party goers gathered around the video game machines in the general dining room. I like the food, I like the servers I've met, and I want to like this restaurant. It's convenient and fairly priced, but when I want to enjoy the company of my spouse or family, I simply cannot count on Joe's to deliver.

A good choice for a family outing or a quick, low-key business meeting. It offers very friendly service, good fresh food at a reasonable price, and there are a variety of options for those who avoid red meat, all meat, dairy, or gluten. I enjoy the Cobb salad, the lettuce-wrap chicken breast burger and the garlic-Parmesan fries (addictive), and I have heard very good things about the milkshakes, mixed drinks, and cinnamon bread pudding for dessert.

I've had Joe's burgers several times , and have never been disappointed . Their staff is great , the burgers are fantastic , and they have the best chicken strips I've had in quite a while . If you have had your fill of soul less fast food chains with bad food and bad service , I suggest trying this place . It's top notch .

Service was good but food was wretched. If you want a decent burger in this neighborhood, McMenamin's is a much better bet.

I live in the neighborhood and have been going to Joe's since they opened about twice a week until our most recent experience. We were going because my wife and kids liked the food and it was nearby. My wife made a phone order which upon arrival at home was discovered to be wrong. My wife and son went in the next day to order lunch and relayed the problem about the prior order being incorrect. The waitress that took the order understood the problem and took the new order. According to my wife, the waitress must have gone on break because she was later faced with a guy who appeared to be the manager. My wife retold the story and he became defensive and rude-treating my wife as though she was lying for a $5 burger. My wife called in my 9-year old son, who the burger was for in the first place, and he too relayed the same story about the burger and if he ate it or not. My son told the manager that he was only able to eat the fries and didn't eat the burger. I think at this point I'll say that there were problems on both sides. My wife should have called Joe's immediately upon discovering the incorrect order and either returned to the restaurant (as much as a hassle as that would have been) or gotten a resolution on the phone and taken names. She didn't, she's busy, and as a fairly regular customer (2x weekly or more) she thought that she could just deal with it the next time she came in. The bigger fault is with the manager. First off, even though he may have been right in what he was saying by suggesting that my wife should have emailed or called, he did so in a rude and condescending manner. He clearly implied that my wife was lying in order to score a $5 burger (that burger that was made wrong is still in my fridge because nobody wants to eat it). His time for a shakedown might be on the second or third offense of this nature with the same customer but not on the first. My wife left upset that the manager was this rude to her, implied that she was lying in front of our little boy, and pretty much ruined the future of our family going to Joe's. So we're not going to Joe's anymore based on that interaction with the manager. Their ubiquitous menu of burgers, pizza, and tacos is easily replaced-in fact it's replacement right across the street. We're the customers that don't come back but we're also the customers that won't be recommending Joe's, telling our friends and neighbors of our account, and unfortunately writing horrible reviews such as this one. My personal opinion about Joe's which I've kept reserved since my wife and boys really liked the place is the following: The burgers seem very ordinary and similar to what you might pick up at Costco. The fries are good and plentiful. The tacos are awful and not very much on the tortillas--like the smallest amount of filling and it's gross--seriously tastes awful. The vegetarian chili is good but comes to the table luke-warm as if they plate it first while the burger is being made. The waitresses there are all very nice. The flat-screen TV's in the place are mounted in random positions and makes one think that there must have been a special on flat screens somewhere because they are everywhere including over the greeters station when you first walk in. This would have made a super place to have a beer and watch the game but I think I'm going across the street to the 45th St. Bar. These references to In-n-Out burger make absolutely no sense at all. Joe's doesn't slice the potatoes for french fries, Joe's buys their burgers pre-made. There's no comparison other than the friendly waitresses. Bottom Line: whether the manager was having a bad day or not it doesn't matter. He should have handled this differently. If my wife had been a habitual freeloader he should have approached her as he did. First time with a complaint with a little boy in tow and you're being that offensive? Had the manager handled this differently he would have had the chance to create a customer(s) for life instead of creating a 1-family negative PR firm that doesn't have anything good to say now about Joe's. In fact, I'm skipping Joe's now when I'm at Bridgeport Village. I'll be watching the games across the street.

As much as I was sad to see Jopa that was previously at this location I must say I am pleased they are here. Great burgers, closest I can get to In and Out in Oregon, good quality double cooked fry and a fun outside patio now that the weather is getting sunny. I love the fact that they think of everything you need for a to go order as well.

Stopped in here on a burger craving. Their HAPPY HOUR is AWESOME. Sunday all day food specials!! Good food for super great prices. **Greasy food** but awesome nevertheless, I had the Patty Melt , and some mac n chz bites. The bloody Marys aren't too great. Wonderful service- we went to the bar, the bartender was always present, quick, and super cheerful!

My husband and I just got back from Joe's. He really enjoys the cowboy burger (without the fatty bacon) and I am a fan of the pattey melt (substitute the patty for a chicken breast and get rid of the sauce - so good!). However, the service was (once again) terrible. We were essentially ignored. I was forgiving at first, since they only had one waitress working the whole restaurant for lunch. However, the restaurant eventually emptied out and our waitress was still missing in action. We eventually had to just go up to the hostess counter to pay because we feared we would never get the check otherwise (I am kicking myself even tipping a measly 15%). I went earlier in the month with my grandmother and had a similar experience with another waitress. We will probably go back in another 6 month when we have another craving and more patience (if this place is still open).

Stick with burgers. I did not have same experience as others. They have thin style hamburgers cooked on a flat top. Get a double. Not sure how people expect to specify how they want their burger cooked. This is not Foster Burger. It is more like In N Out. The beef is fresh and organic. Turkey and veggie burgers are great too.

We went today based on yelp reviews, hoping that the really good ones were true. Unfortunately, for us at least, we would beg to differ. We arrived during the lunch hour and found quite a few cars in the lot, generally a good sign, though there didn't seem to be as many patrons inside as cars outside. Maybe they were also employees parked out there? No matter. The greeter was very nice and polite, seated us right away, but after quite a few minutes, we noticed there weren't any servers anywhere. She finally did come back to us; turns out the greeter is also the server, which is fine, I guess, as long as it doesn't take too long. We did wait probably another 8-10 minutes longer than I would have preferred, but that's not quite a crisis either. The food was ordered, and it arrived very quickly, I will say that. She was attentive to us and she did check on us later which was also good. The menu is fairly simple, and all quite reasonably priced. We ordered two of the "standard" one-patty cheesburgers and a basket of onion rings. The burgers, as has been mentioned here, were pretty ordinary. A little heavy on the iceberg lettuce, making it kind of a slippery mess halfway through and to the end. No real flavor from any sort of sauce; I think it must have had maybe some mayo on it and that's it, besides the several leaves of iceberg and a slice of tomato. Maybe a little onion as well, though now I can't recall. And sure enough, a rather thin little patty in there somewhere with some kind of cheese on it. Basically, an unremarkable burger. At least at 5 Guys, you sometimes get a fairly nicely charred piece of flesh that has some flavor to it, and a decent-sized piece at that. The onion rings may have been frozen and then deep fried; they weren't ghastly, but then again they weren't anything remotely like Burgerville onion rings, which in my book are some of the best done rings anywhere: large, fully well-sized, fresh sweet onions, perfectly battered and perfectly cooked, every time. No, these were a little overcooked, right at the edge of burned actually, and fairly smallish in "ring thickness", and though there seemed to be real onion in there, I'm guessing they were frozen, based on mouthfeel and flavor. I really hate to run anyone down in the food business, unless of course it's simply dreadful, and surely these folks deserve good kudos for trying hard, I think, but the food just needs to be kicked up a notch or two. And of course, charge more - prices now are quite low, but maybe it proves the "get what you pay for" maxim. They should use fresh patties instead of what might have been frozen, use more meat in the single burger patty, a little less lettuce, maybe onions and pickle slices, use real Tillamook cheddar, and maybe toast the bun a little more to prevent sogginess. Speaking of the bun, I will say I found the bun to be quite good, very nice and soft, and with good flavor. So, the bun was the highpoint of the burger for me. All in all, we probably won't be back unless we see reviews that the tide has turned. To compete in the burger biz, you need to have a FABULOUS burger that NO ONE ELSE has. Look at Killer Burgers on Sandy - they have a stellar menu, crazy great flavor, good people, you can't hardly get in, and you go back over and over. Joe's could be that place, but it will require some serious changes. We were similarly disappointed with the "Back By Popular Demand" Yaws out in NE PDX, and certainly won't return there either. But by damn, that 1974 Yaws burger was pretty much to die for. Oh, those reviews that mentioned Inn-and-Out here? What are you smoking? Not even close. YMMV, good luck!

I didn't eat food here. I didn't have anything to drink here. Perhaps I shouldn't be reviewing this place yet? On the contrary! This gives me the perfect outsider's opinion on everything else. They have a large parking lot...easy to find a space. The wait-staff was decently quick. Our party of nine took a bit longer to sort out, but they gave everyone an individual check and were overall very friendly. The food didn't look that great. I guess I lied...I did have one fry off of a friend's plate. It wasn't very good. Another friend mentioned that her steak was terrible and she only ate half of it. All in all, seems like a good place to organize a group event, but only if you don't care much about the food quality. I hear they have cheap HH drinks!

Nice bartender and the beer AND the glasses were ice cold. Nice! Burger was ok, but the chili fries are mislabeled. Tasted nothing but garlic and no chili flavor at all. Totally disappointed. Next time I'll get plain fries. Just not a noteworthy experience.

Good for burger and fries and that's about it. Tried fish tacos and those were disappointing. For 50 cents more per taco you get one bite worth of fish per taco. It's nearby so we've been a few times. The portion size on the burger baskets are quite large so I was surprised they really skimped out on the fish in the tacos. I'm not exaggerating when I say the piece of fish in each taco was about an inch long and not very thick. My husband tried the fish and chips and definitely bigger portion but nothing special there. Just stick with the burgers. Otherwise, you're risking it if you stray from that.

Service is 3-4 stars for friendliness and efficiency. 4 strong stars for the cart at Bridgeport. But this restaurant is run down, dirty, and serves mediocre food. This was my second visit to Joe's, and it was worse than the first with lukewarm, soggy fries and a cold burger for one of my children and a sizzling bacon cheese burger with steaming crisp fries for my other child. We didn't call the server's attention to the inconsistency because a team of at least 40 high school athletes stormed the restaurant, and the servers were scrambling to handle the demand. What was good about watching the three confident servers is that they didn't look or act frazzled or overwhelmed. They had a good system for taking orders and money downstairs and getting the team upstairs into a separate dining area. Meanwhile, we devoured the hot fries and left the soggy cold ones behind. We don't plan to come back, but we do frequent joe's food cart in Bridgeport, which is consistently good but doesn't have a yelp location the last time I checked to write a review.

Love love love this place. It's my local "go to" when I want something delicious and for a good price. The people that work there are super nice and the atmosphere is very family friendly. Their burgers are delicious and grass fed. Their milk shakes are the best in town. I highly recommend Joe's.

One of those burgers that doesn't blow you away, but suddenly it's gone and you're craving more. The Joe's burger is excellent. Not flashy, but a taste that you'll remember. Garlic Parm fries are a must.

I really love this place! They have my favorite burgers! I've gone several times, and I haven't gotten bored yet! For a meal, I love the Cowboy Joe. So well made! The best part of the whole visit is the Bread Pudding!! AMAZING! The service comes a close second. Every time I have gone to Joe's, the wait staff is always INCREDIBLY welcoming and charming! I love how comfortable I feel here. Can't wait to go again!

We are new residents of OR and Joe's was one of our first places to eat after arriving and it has been our favorite burger place ever since! We tell everyone how great Joe's is and this is the go to place to take relatives when they come to visit! So far all of our relatives who have ate here love it too! My husband LOVES the Big Kahuna Burger and I LOVE the 2X! We also have a favorite server too! Allison is great and has memorized our order! =D Everyone at Joe's is nice so you'll get a great server no matter who it is! We have never had to wait to be seated but maybe that's b/c we go earlier than most. Can't wait to go back here to eat!!

Been there before and it was good. Wanted to have our daughter try it. Seated outside, waited 20 minutes, no one ever came to help us. Asked the people next to us if they ever got help and they said "no, I think they forgot us". Went inside to try the bar where we got great service before...NO ONE EVER CAME. Needless to say we left and won't go back. Couldn't see any excuse for that...what a shame.

Service was great. Everything else was was horrible. Chuck E Cheese atmosphere. They claim they a have 1/3 pound burgers but they are smaller than my 1/4 pound ones I cook at home. I ordered a chili burger that barely had any chili on it and last time I checked you shouldn't be able to eat one without a knife and fork. DO NOT USE THE BATHROOMS! It makes me sick thinking my food came from the same building that harbors these restrooms. Do not waste your time with this place!

geez, what a nice surprise. post workday, met a co-worker there for a beer. Kind reception and good conversation by the barkeep. $2 - $4 happy hour items. Big Food, Small Price. They also offer a beer/drink special to go with it. Last night was $3 Pike Ale for instance. Good place for groups, too. They have meeting space upstairs I think. These people are doing it right. Heard their burger is LEGIT, too. Of course...with the name. They also offer an IN-AND-OUT version.

I've driven past this place innumerable times until I finally had some time to kill in the area today and decided to stop in. It was nothing amazing but overall a very good experience. The fourth star is due to the really excellent, friendly and helpful service I received. I got very honest and helpful information and advice about the menu and their many specials. There are lots of good deals here. I had the Cowboy Joe burger basket, which was very tasty though nothing I'll be raving about. I also had a couple taquitos which were certainly better than average, dressed in sour cream, queso fresco and a drizzle of salsa. I think all the adornment though hid the fact that the taquito itself was pretty average. The avocado ranch they came with, however, was worth the visit all on its own! It was like guacamole and ranch made sweet unholy love and this was their bastard child. I will be trying to replicate it for months to come. This place had a really good vibe from the staff down to the decor, great deals and better than average food (especially the avocado ranch sauce!) Definitely worth checking out.

I found this place while looking for time to kill every week during one of my kid's sports practices. A bit too far to come home and go back. Also, it falls right during dinner time. I've only sat at the bar, I can't comment on the rest of the place. It's a solid, comfy little bar area. They have a couple TV's with sports on, somewhat limited but fair beer selection, and decent burgers and tacos at a good price. The bartender who is always there is very friendly and always handy when you need something. There are often some nice local people to strike up a conversation with if you can tear yourself away from your phone.

Best burgers in town. Gives In N Out Burger a challenge! I always get the basic cheeseburger - just so good. Also the fried Mac N Cheese as an app is really good. and the sweet potato fires and the onion rings. Prices are good too - inexpensive and much better than any fast food burger. I just wish they would let dogs on the patio.

This place has great food and a casual atmosphere. We like it a lot. However, be forewarned about your car in the parking lot. While eating there last night with friends, their car window was smashed and his briefcase stolen. It was parked in the upper lot, under a light just yards from the entrance.

I like this place, we came here a lot when it first opened because friends lived very close, as did we. The burger's are good. Generally we came for happy hour $1 PBR's and $3 well drinks are unbeatable. The sweet potato fries and taco's are also very good. Pool upstairs is nice, lots of tv's if you wanna watch a game. Just a nice local spot, with friendly service

I can't comment on the food directly. I enjoy Joe's burgers at Bridgeport, it reminds me a tad of In-N-Out. I'm sad that Jopa went away, they had some great HH. Because I like the other Joe's location at Bridgeport I thought this place would be similar? In going down Beav. Hillsdale Hwy. in search of a 'sports bar' that wasn't the ever-so-crowded Buffalo Wild Wings, I stopped at Joes Burger Bar...walked through the front door, looked around, and turned back toward my car. I'm not gonna lie, the place looked a tad awkward. Older crowd or families was all I saw. The bar itself looked OK. It reminds me of an upscale burger joint (which is what I'm guessing they are going for) but then they slapped some flat screens on the wall in random places (doesn't quite fit with decor) and I saw the food being served in bright red burger baskets? Beverages in those red plastic cups? This would be fine if it were a totally different atmosphere; a diner perhaps. My suggestions - either make it more "sports bar" looking to accomodate what they currently have or make the food/serving more upscale. Use white plates, glass beverage ware, etc. It just seemed awkward and I turned around because it wasn't the typical environment/crowd I wanted to be in to watch a sports game. I would have felt totally out of place if I were to come in sporting my jersey and cheering on my team in all honesty. Oh, and looking at the menu....Burgers...then Tacos and Pizza!? Um...no. Really weird if you ask me. Stick to the Burgers. Maybe give more options for the burger toppings/selections. Nix the pizza and mexican food. This is a burger joint correct? Menu needs to totally be re-vamped and not made to look like they ordered a bunch of frozen food from Costco and stuck it on the menu.

I got the Cowboy Joe (bacon, onion rings, BBQ sauce) good individual flavors, however it all never really "came together". The fries were good but didn't stand out. Easily forgettable. The wife had the Big Kahuna burger, (onion rings, pineapple, teriyaki sauce) it came with 2 burger patties. Overall needed maybe a pinch more teriyaki sauce but otherwise good overall flavor. Ordered with the sweet potato fries which were standard, but again, forgettable. Everything was made fresh, which you could tell, no warming plates or lamps. Definitely a place to return to for some food, but I wouldn't go out of your way to do so. Total for 2 entrees & 2 drinks - $24

Can I give no stars? My friend and I say down for 35 minutes, no one came to take our order. There were only approximately 9 other family's there, and we only got water.

It's convenient and fairly priced, but when I want to enjoy the company of my spouse or family, I simply cannot count on Joe's to deliver.

eft a 1 star review and will not allow my experience here to lower myself to do so. i live in the area and finally stopped by. the restaurant was clean the wait staff was awesome no complaints at all and I tipped them well for service NOT FOR THE FOOD... I ordered a Patty melt with fries and side salad. The salad was awesome prob 1st time I ever said that in my life ;) The patty melt was left half et, and for a fat man I cannot recall when I left food behind :( fries where ok in the style of Mcdonalds.

Meh. It's okay food. And a little more expensive.

    (3)
  • Ed D.

The five stars is to not to negatively affect this business, how ever I hope that management will read this review, my wife and I went there for dinner, the service was good, but the food was way bellow average, after I went home I got really sick, I hope the management would improve on how the food is processed . In the mean time we will not be going back.

Furthermore, the menu selection was super small, just one page medium print. On a plus side it's cheep, but it shows in the service.

This is now my go-to place for an awesome double patty, diner-style burger. So. Good. It's reasonably priced at under $7. It is very filling and the fries are good! What more could you want? Oh, and the have a bar with happy hour specials! A draft beer and burger on occasion is just the ticket to my happiness! Glad I found this place.

  • Reina C.

  • Ronny L.

Portland needs to get over itself. I hope Joe's sponsors Yelp so they can get some of these ridiculous reviews removed (yes, Yelp does that). Yeah, it's overpriced, but it's a damn good burger. Now shut up.

    (5)
  • Lyle D.

The salad was awesome prob 1st time I ever said that in my life ;) The patty melt was left half et, and for a fat man I cannot recall when I left food behind :( fries where ok in the style of Mcdonalds.

  • Dan L.
