Good burger for a good price! The question of the day will be, what kind of side order are you? I love their regular fries and crinkle cut so I ordered both. I don't like them crispy so I was glad to see them lightly cooked. Their is a good selection of slushies, milkshakes, and soft serve to satisfy anyone.

My visit here, was not pleasant at all! We had to wait a very long time! Plus, there was a weird smell through out the place! It was unbearable,I had to leave! And then I had the food...the curly fries were pretty good, but the burger..not good. At all! I actually really didn't like it in any way! Sorry..

One of the few places in town I can score a butterscotch milkshake and a tasty burger and fries. The decor is a little outdated and the place could use an overhaul and refresh. It's no Burgerville - but then again - Burgerville doesn't have butterscotch milkshakes. The food rates slightly above Burger King, but there is something comforting and almost carnival-like about their spread. Its an outer southeast staple and we eat here once every few months.

Prices sound fair until you try the over cooked and old food they are selling. Some tasted so old we had to give it back as it was unbearable. Other customers around us were charged extra for onion rings and then when their food came they received fries and told when they Alec that there was no more onion rings. Also had a hard time getting our order correct but we lived with the edible mistakes. It is so sad this was a favorite place as a kids and on date nights and now after returning years later I will NEVER be back.

The service is terrible and the food is no better. Burger pattys are paper thin. Veggies seem old. The fries taste like old grease. Never coming back.

I always get the chicago dog and slushy. Its damn good food for cheap and fast. HEY SONIC PUT ONE ON THE EASTSIDE OF PORTLAND!!!!! i think we have waited long enough. Its such a pain in the ass to go to the westside for a hotdog.

Food was subpar for a greasy gut bomb. My rating would be a 3 Star if they would have actually provided my full order and cooked my food all the way through. This is the last time that I'll ever eat at Cruisers, they shorted a whole burger and only flashed fried all the tots and fries leaving them to crumble with just a touch. Being that they cook the food right In front of you, you would think they would take a little more pride in getting your order correct and actually cooking your food through. The deal was the cook was just getting off his shift and rushed my order.

it is greasy diner food and nothing more. the double bacon cheeseburger is really delicious. do not get the "cheesesteak" sandwich - you've been warned! everything is cooked strait from the freezer, which is to be expected. they do not season anything so grab some salt. the onion rings are very good but often overcooked. the building is old and looking pretty worn and desperately needs some tlc on the inside but very clean.

For being a chain Burger Joint Cruiser's is decent. The kitchen is right up front so you can see your order being cooked fresh. The seating area has a 50's look to it but the Video Games ruin that vibe. For a chain restaurant, the Burgers are fine. They do not have Blue Cheese! I Ordered the Mushroom Burger. It comes with Swiss Cheese, Mushrooms on a Toasted Bun. They serve Tater Tots so I was happy. Service was fast and the place was clean so they get a 3 star rate.

I used to live rights down the street from here years ago. This place is probably the best thing this neighborhood has going for it. I moved away, but this place keeps me coming back. Yeah it has changed ownership over the years, but still serves the same items, and actually added quite a few items to their menu. Their prices are excellent especially their lunch specials mon-wed all combos are $5.50. My favorite is their maui burger. I usually come here once a week. This is on my list of comfort foods. I ALWAYS leave here happy. The customer service is excellent. Kids meals come with a free big ice cream cone too. Oh and their milkshakes are wonderful. Haven't had one in awhile, but their Bannana splits were always proper too. Oh and onion rings are yummy too. I've recently tried a couple of their new items the guacamole burger, and the chipotle BBQ bacon burger. They both get my approval, and beat any fast food place. And cheaper too its always a triple win here. Good food, great customer service, and excellent prices. Keep it up Cruisers!

burgers and fries are delicious! made fresh off the grill and you can actually sit in the barstool seats and watch your food get cooked!

Great value. Friendly Staff. Great weekly specials! We come here often when they have their $5.50 any combo meal special. Includes Burger, Fry's, and a drink. I love that you can choose between several different French fry options. I recommend the grill chicken sandwich combo well done. Amazing. Great shakes too.

This place is arguably the best hidden burger gem in Portland! I've lived here for 17 years and can't believe I ignored this place until 2 weeks ago--now I've eaten there 3 times already. When I walked in and saw how low the prices were I thought the food must be pretty average at that price, though I was impressed with the wide selection on the menu. You can get specialty burgers, fish, even shrimp and it all comes in a combo meal INCLUDING a drink for under $7! Now here's the kicker--the food is actually GOOD! Tasty food, great prices, lots of selection. Does it get better? Yes! Monday-Wednesday all combos are $5.50 all day long, even dinner! Someday the prices will eventually change and this review will be outdated but if you want good food at an insanely low price, come here!

I mean it's not freaking outstanding gourmet cuisine come on people it's a driver through,, and my bacon cheese burger was delicious as was my fries (really all depends on who's working) but this is one of those cute little places you go to year after year because it's cute and old and original

This place has really gone downhill even from a few months ago. I seldom eat at burger joints and for years this was my only exception. I loved this place in past because of high quality beef, whole grain bun and crisp or fresh lettuce and tomato at an extremely reasonable price. Today, I was greeted by an untrained order taker who had no clue on what they served. I was looking for the original simple burger, whole grain bun etc but no where to be found. The order taker suggested a basic burger, with onion bun since they no longer had whole grain. Standing next to her, I assume was cook, taking it all in, offering no help, but he promptly handed me the burger wadded up in paper even before I paid. The meat was like cardboard, the bun white squishy bread with a chip of unripe tomato and wilted lettuce. I tried to communicate the unpleasantness with him but he turned his back and avoided me until I left. Really sad another long time neighborhood icon has bit the dust.

I've been going here since I was a little little kid. I love this place. The food isn't anything amazing. However, it is yummy and cheap. The place used to be more fun when they had the jute box and the stuffed animal claw machines but it is still awesome. They have big icecream cones for not a lot of money.

  • Jason H.

Pretty much what I expected. Good was average. Service was snotty high schoolers and people who didn't speak English. The ice cream was good. I'd go back if in the area.

The place used to be great and fun. Looks almost run down, service was horrible. My fried mushrooms came out frozen still.

I ordered a French dip and it was dry. It was like I ordered a dry meat dip. The shakes were a bit too sweet unless that's what other prefer. But my kids enjoyed their burgers and my honey liked the shrimp basket and chicken basket.

  • Alena C.

Remember when Cruisers was just a tiny little place and you could get a 10 inch ice cream cone for 50cents? I do! Us David Douglas kids know all about cruisers. It's where teachers/coaches/parents took you for a treat after a defeat, victory, success or failure. Crusiers doesn't discriminate. I just met up with some friends to save goodbye to a old friend heading back to NYC, how else to do that then with a candy shake?

I've been here a number of times since I was first introduced to the place in 2009. When you want a good (and inexpensive!) diner burger, this is the place to go. The burgers have fresh toppings that are deeeelish and work super well together. I know some people hate it, but I really like the shredded lettuce. The curly fries are super tasty and I love mixing some of their fountain(!) Vanilla Coke into my Diet Coke. I won't lie, I've made the drive from Beaverton before when I wanted an amazing burger and I was not disappointed. One star down because the review about the thinner burger patties is accurate--they've definitely gotten smaller over the years. On the upside, as a smallish lady the burger and fries are still more than I can eat so the smaller patty didn't bother me that much. I'm not a huge fan of the bathroom key situation either but sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

The burger is paper thin tons of lettuce I mean excessive lettuce. Fries were decent. Overall I won't be going back.

This place is amazing. I love their Maui burger and their bacon cheeseburger is my favorite! I don't like their new mushroom burger, but the place definitely makes up for it. It's one of those old style burger joints, now of that new aged "healthy" kind of burger. Juicy medium sized beef, plenty of cheese and all the extras. Their onion rings are some of the best in town!!! Not the crap onion rings you get at fast food joints, not over fried, nice crisp, real visible onions. AND they have vanilla and cherry coke!!! You can't get vanilla coke on tap anywhere else. If you want a real burger, go here.

Greasy, not fresh diner food, what do you expect? In a world of fast food options, I would rather eat this stuff when given the option. We enjoyed the jukebox (everything from Thriller to Garth Brookes was played) and the shakes and fries the best. The hamburgers were ok, nothing to write home about, and the coney island dog was a perfect gut bomb, although I wish there was more onions and that the cheese was sprinkled on top rather than being american cheese laid onto the bun with the coney sauce poured over it...a little weird. Quick service and good price, meal for 2 for $10. There was a variety of patrons, groups of teens, families, individual guys, and it had a pretty laid back atmosphere with the cheesy and not very creative diner decor. I will return eventually, but probably just for fries or tater tots and shakes and to people watch. I hear the ice cream cones are "as big as you head"...so I figure you can't go wrong with that, right?

Management and/or ownership changes have really hurt this great little burger joint. Portions are smaller, prices are up and it's suffering decor is looking more rundown.

Having lived or worked near Cruiser's for almost twenty years I've eaten here many times but won't anymore. The parking is terrible and there is often a line but it used to be worth it. They now use a bagged shredded lettuce with such a powerful odor and taste that it overpowers the burgers. They also include American "cheese" on every burger, even when you specifically order a hamburger and mention that you'd gotten cheese by mistake the last two times you ordered a hamburger not a cheeseburger. I forgave the first two times but not the third. They used to have great crinkle cut fries but the last two times they had some straight fries with skin on that had an off taste to me. I miss the good old days at Cruiser's.

Yes it really used to be the fun hang out ... In high school. Burgers only cost a dollar and a full meal was four bucks top. Sadly when the owner died so did cruisers. The cooks don't care and it shows. The food prices went almost double what they used to and the only healthy ish food was taken from the menu. Since when do you deep fry a veggie burger? I don't even want to know why my vegitarian food was dripping .

Normally, I'm a "5 Guys" or "In 'n' Out Burger" kinda guy. In other words, I don't mind spending a bit more for a serious quality burger and really good fries, which I can always find at these places. Cruiser's on the other hand, gives me similar quality, with a LOT more menu and drink options, at roughly 60% of the cost. Also, no offense to the big chain restaurants, but Cruiser's is the real deal and you can tell it the minute you walk-in the door. It reminds me of what McDonalds was back in the 1960's when I was a kid, with real full-sized burgers served on fresh-grilled buns and awesome French fries. Those were the days! Check-out Cruiser's for great burgers and fries, served in a truly authentic setting.

Our family love eating here. All the food, especially the hamburgers are good. The ice cream is also great. The only meal I would t recommend is the chicken strips. Everything besides the chicken strips is great. The company needs to figure out a way to improve their chicken strips. Maybe order from. Different company before they bring them in and cook them up. Other than that the place is overall outstanding. The best is the price.

Expensive for the quality of products they use. This place has really gone down over the past few years. And everything is an up charge.

So many bad reviews of this place... Yet the food costs the same as McDonalds, Burger king, and is Worlds better.... With so many options. This is a diner type establishment, they fry up some fries and all other options, have decent burgers, and some of the best damn chicken strips I've tasted... And big enough portions for me to take a strip or 2 home to cut up in my salad the next day... and let my hubby steal some of my fries... You can get onion rings instead. They have great milkshakes, everything my husband and I had has been good. And there are a ton of options, as well as dessert flavors... Not to mention, it's a cool little atmosphere, makes you feel like you're in a movie from that era... and did someone really say greasy diner food??!?!? What do you think you stepped into?!?! That's just what it's supposed to be... I'd like to see you go back in time and see how "fresh" the diner food back then really was.... before all the food-handling info was really out there... I'm sorry but please take into account WHAT you're actually reviewing before you open your mouth =) You don't mark a food court down for bad seating, now do you? Or a chinese restaurant down for having a bad burger.... That.... is not what you're there for. Is it knee spanking fabulous, send all the hipster vegans running from downtown? Maybe not, but for this area, it's damn good for what it is, and yes, hipsters, run yo ass over here for the chicken strips, cuz they're beyond kickin' .

This used to be really good. Something changed though, not sure what! Dirty grease? Super thin meat Patties! It's just not the same!

Try the Burgerville down the street for the same prices and a lot better options. This place was a greasy diner with none of the charms that go along with a greasy diner.

Really the pictures are different now. I haven't been here in a long time since I moved away from Oregon. But really you want some GREAT burgers. I will never get a better burger than here. I really need to get back into town! Go here. Really. I live in Texas now and I have yet to get a better burger. I don't care if you have to fly to get here just for the burger. Go. I will.

If you've had a Blizzard at the Dairy Queen across the street, you are not getting your money's worth. HUGE shakes full of Oreo, Butterfinger, etc are found here....they are the best. Atmosphere? Meh. The workers behind the counter don't seem to speak English very well; inside the bathroom, you'll find a message on the door written in sharpie: "PLEASE TURN LIGHTS OFF. "KEEP DOOR LOCK." Really??? I can keep the door lock?!?!? But how do they expect me to dismantle it? That's the real question. Actually, i enjoy the burgers and fries there, pretty decent. I'd rather go here than the DQ across the street. The three stars are mainly for the food, especially the shakes......not so much the employees. Get lucky with the time you pick to go here, and hopefully there are not loud, screaming children sitting/running/jumping/climbing nearby.
