Can be a very nice dinner but I recommend staying away on Valentine's Day. We have enjoyed a lot of nice dinners here.

This is a bit long, so the Summary is this: Westside food consistently underwhelms. Bethany's Table bucks the trend - great food, staff and prices. Breakfast for two adults and six kids under 10 yrs. & the best playground (Morgan's Run / Pirate Park) this side of Washington Park a five minute drive away = great Saturday AM. There are those weeks in the life of a hubby-daddy-business-dude (HDBD) where you know you've been gone way too much and simply need to give your bride a break. So the rainy Saturday AM rolls in about 6 and you're determined to make it a fun day for the kids and a chill day for the lady. Ahead of the morning chaos you hit the web for all the "what's up & happening". Nothing sounds right so you hit yelp for help for breakfast. Screendoor will be slammed, WaffleWindow is a haul, and the more you look the more you think a long drive is not in the cards for this crew. Reluctantly the search moves west. But there on the edge of the map sits a higher rated spot with 70+ reviews. Pics look decent and the food sounds better than the chains... What the hey. You call up your best buddy / HDBD and tell him his wife needs a break too. Vans loaded, you hit the new place in an onslaught of hungry littles. You're not disappointed. Tasty Polenta Ragu w/ egg, awesome scrambles, chocolate chip pancakes for the kids, good coffee and a very chill atmosphere. Fed, fired up and ready to run, you get the kids to the playground to be crowned "hero" for the hour. Recommendation: do it.

I had read many of the reviews for Bethany's Table once we decided to have dinner here. I called and made reservation, because one review said they get grumpy if you don't. We were on alert for hair, and, not that it would have bothered us, there was no dog to be found. Out of 5 stars I would give: Food 3.5 - Service 4 - Atmosphere 3.5 Very good, but not great. Price was in line with what you're paying at any place that isn't a Red Robin or Chili's. Over a positive experience. We will be back.

Amazing tenderloin steak, seasoned and done to perfection. Super quality Oregon grass-fed, as per the menu, topped with a dollop of blue cheese. This is the best restaurant steak I've enjoyed since a perfect rib-eye at The Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC. Every bite tender, thick and wonderfully flavourful. I'll remember this for some time, and crave it. Came with perfect fresh, steamed green beans, slender uniform, I think Blue Lake variety like I used to home grow. Clearly fresh and local. The mashed potatoes were thoughtfully prepared, not too garlicky. All in all, a perfect dinner, with a beautiful, multi-layer of flavour red wine from the Willamette Valley, I unfortunately forgot which winery. Who would have thought all this gourmet offering, from a small restaurant in a strip mall across from a Subway. Impressive menu, farm to table concept. Very knowledgable and attentive service. If it had atmosphere, it would get 5 stars. Thanks to my cousin for introducing me to what I imagine is the best restaurant in that area . . .

Overpriced, small portions. Owner is not nice. Stay away.

I'm a fan. Menu varies a bit which is nice. I had a simple steak meal which was amazing for the $20 or so price; date had a seafood dish which she enjoyed (believe scallops, etc.?) ; they do very nice mixed drinks there also. It's hard to find good food in the 'burbs but this is good. It isn't cheap and we didn't expect that it would be.

As you can read what a lot of other people say, service is terrible and they don't seem to care. Sad to see for such a lovely place. I also have seen a dog roaming around the restaurant, and I am pretty sure that is not allowed by the health department. Gross!

Bethany's table is classless ! I brought my family in for dinner . Everything was fine until my wife and I started hearing the F word being yelled from the kitchen . The owner went back to address the situation and started yelling the F word himself . I was shocked, my kids are 5 and 6 . I asked our waiter Adam what was going on and told him we didn't appreciate are young kids hearing that type of language . He brushed us off and made a joke that our kids probably said the F word anyway . Adam is also the worst waiter iv had in a long time . We sat without drinks numerous times , he threw the food down on the table like we were bugging him. All in all dinner at Bethany's table was a joke ! Service was horrible and my kids got to listen to the staff cussing like we were at a dive bar . Not to mention at the end the owner came to apologize and wreaked of alcohol and marihuana ...... Very professional .

I went to Bethany's Table not knowing what to expect, just wanted to try something new and I was pleasantly surprised! The food is so delicious and the staff is very nice and friendly. I had the 1/2 BLT sandwich, tomato soup and a side salad. It's very good and tasty. I would say that us the best tomato soup I have ever had. I love going there and it will be one of my regulars now. There's also a little dog running around that's very cute! I highly recommend this restaurant.

I've been to Bethany's Table about a dozen times. I've always had nice meals and good service each time. I went there two weeks ago for breakfast. Devon (sp) was my server and I ordered biscuits and gravy and also a fruit plate. My eyes were bigger than my stomach so a took half my biscuits and gravy home. Later that afternoon I heated up my leftovers and started to dig in and I found a six inch black hair stuck to the bottom of the biscuit. There was no doubt it came from the restaurant, as nobody in my family has black hair. So I sent the restaurant an email telling me what had happened, with a picture of the hair thinking someone would at least acknowledge the problem. I waited one day, two, three, four, five days without a response. So, I sent them another email telling them what had happened, but again no reply. So the last image I have from this restaurant is a six inch black hair stuck in my food, and an owner that doesn't give a damn. Talk about crappy customer service.

Janet, the owner and head chef, has done an excellent job at creating an atmosphere conducive to the PNW and utilizing all of the local faire. Pros: if you have a large group, the Bistro is a great choice. I've used them for work a number of times and Janet will work with you to put together a menu, work around the crazy allergies and dietary restrictions, and keep within a budget. Pros: if you like brunch... they do an excellent job. when i'm in a particularly indecisive mode, I let the brunch cook make whatever sounds good and have never been disappointed. Pros: the Scallop salad is one of my favorite meals... ever. Cons: not a fan of the dog wandering around the restaurant, but he hasn't begged at my table.

So happy to have a family owned business in Bethany using locally sourced produce and farm fresh beef. Love their rotating specials and affordable wine bottle selection. Great servers and affordable fine dining the whole family can enjoy. This is where the kids always want to go! Even on their bdays!

I love this place. I love the mix of things that don't cost so much, and more high end cuisine, and their dog is adorable. Some of my favorites- Polenta and Prawns at brunch, The burger (it is to die for), the Grilled cheese and tomato soup, and the rotating selection of soups they have in general. A few days ago I faced a long wait at Walgreens when I wasn't feeling so well, and walked over for some soup. I had the most amazing crab and corn chowder and an awesome salad. They are almost never busy when I go, which is nice, but is also a shame ,because more people need to be coming to this place! Its a lovely place to eat without having to drive all the way to the city!

  • Amanda B.

Within walking distance and decent food. But way overpriced. And a very small cafe so would expect a long wait for a table although they never seem that busy so probably shouldn't be a problem. Nothing too memorable about this place, good or bad.

Bethany's Table take two. We were seated promptly and service was good, but the food - though better than last time - was not quite good enough to take my rating to 4 stars. If they just served their whole wheat bread loaves, I might give 5 stars - wow! good stuff. :) I tried the King Salmon with fennel shavings on a bed of basmati rice. The salmon was moist and flaky, but was underseasoned. The fennel, in a portion almost the size of the fish, overpowered the salmon's flavor. A bit less fennel would have been better. A touch of parsley made for an interesting burst of flavor in some bites. My wife's Oho was bland and needed additional seasoning as well. I think the food at Bethany's Table is decent, but it does not inspire memories. We will probably be back in the future, as it is in our neighborhood, but the restaurant is not going to be in our main rotation.

This place is a nice little getaway in the heart of suburbia. My in-laws and some friends live nearby, and this is a nice, upscale-ish change of pace from the chain restaurants in Bethany. The owners are very hands-on and while some find the male owner a little overbearing he has taken the criticism into consideration as apparently a few people have complained. I never found him off-putting, but he has backed off lingering at tables if he gets the vibe he's outworn his welcome. The female owner is the chef, and if she's out of something or anything goes awry with your dish she will personally come out and explore different options with you! Very nice touch. The FOOD: I love the several specials listed on the board as you walk in, there are so many options and they rotate constantly based on the season/availability. I was sad to see my scallop salad leave the menu, but it will be back soon and is a must try. My in-laws love the bavette steak which seems to be a mainstay on the regular menu. My only gripe: I do find that at times the portions can be a bit small, and the prices a bit high. This can especially be the case with appetizers, which feed two but aren't priced accordingly. The SPIRITS: They have a very hands-on approach, you choose the wine or beer you want from their wine or beer "wall." The owner loves talking about his wines which he picks carefully, and servers are often quite knowledgeable about the wines if you're having a tough time. The prices are also very reasonable on the wine.

Service here is really good- accommodating and pleasant, even though we had no reservation. Moreover Mark took the critique of a lackluster crab dip in his stride. As others say - it is not for those on a budget, but I would go back again - its just not quite exceptional enough for you to dance naked on the town hall steps and tell all your friends. No hairs found, no dogs to be seen.

Great service. Great food. Sea scallop salad was very good. I love the way the sea scallops were seasoned with sea salt and pepper. I just wish that the bread that they served with soup weren't as salty. Simple baguette would've been nice. The strawberry shortcake was very delicious. Perfect amount of sugar and I could really enjoy the seasonal fruit.

Took bride here on birthday and it was absolutely excellent. We started with the limonrello (prosecco and in house made limoncello). Had some outstanding crab cakes. The Bavette steak with the truffle butter was mind numbing good. Even the asparagus was cooked literally perfect. I don't know how they seasoned or how they did not over or under cook but maybe the best restaurant asparagus I have had? Even the fingerling potatoes were very good. The chocolate truffle cake with homemade espresso ice cream and cocoa nibs was the perfect finale to a great meal. Also, Janice provided excellent service. Read our mind even in wanting a little more prosecco to dilute the limoncello for when our meal came.

I went here with a large group for my senior prom. I was expecting to spend a decent sum of money on dinner that night, since it was senior prom and all. They were accommodating for our group because we reserved our place several weeks earlier and one of our friends knew the owner. However, they served us family style. This meant that they gave us 5 plates of food and expected all 14 of us to share it. The food was decent, but I can tell you that it was not worth $60 by any estimate. Even the dainty, 80 pound girls in our group were still hungry after all of the food had been eaten. My friends and I were aghast at how little food they gave us for so large a group. Mind you, they had known how many of us were coming for weeks. I can only imagine the owners cackling in the back at how much money we gave them in return for so little food. Do not come here with a large group!

OK, it isn't often that I will head out of the city for good food. But I happened to be out there showing condos so I met friends for dinner and wine. The atmosphere is a bit strange, and after driving by it several times (get a better sign people) I was ready to give up. But thanks to my texting (very slow drexting...) and the flares used to guide me in, I made it! Once I stumbled in I settled nicely to a terrific glass of wine. Had the flank steak bites for appetizer and they were killer good! Then on to a Carlton Farms pork chop, nice Frenched bone, thick and tasty topped with onions and apples. But I gotta say, the best thing on my plate was the spiced sweet potatoes! God those were GOOD! I might wash dishes for the recipe, seriously. Lucky Bethany people having great food so near.

This place should be five stars. I have been here many, many times for breakfast , lunch and dinner. The service is always about one star. For the prices I should be getting amazing service. It's usually slow, they certainly do not make you feel appreciated, no one is warm and welcoming, the owner is very arrogant and I think the owner is a drunk. He has actually yelled at customers while I've been there. The seriously need to get it together. There is nothing decent in this area, and they have the potential to be amazing. Customer service people! I'm sure they could care less about bad reviews.

No reservations but we Took a chance on an early Saturday eve Mother's Day Dinner!! We got in... Perfect timing! Split a salad... I had beef tenderloin Filet and he had Halibut steak. Wonderful favors, nice veggies. Bottle of Pinot. Bethany's Table a wonderful local restaurant for a special meal. Always just right for us!

Decent food that seems quality enough, pretty fresh. The guy who seemed like the owner had a wrinkly, stinky dog with skin lesions who sniffed around at my feet unleashed almost the entire meal. Dog was named Zooey, I only know that because one of the waiters eventually hollered at him to "stop begging". Not enjoyable.

First time in here, and mixed thoughts. First, the food. I had a risotto that wasn't on the regular menu but was one of a lengthy list of specials. Made with beer sausage and spinach. Quite good. My wife had another of the specials - king salmon - and that was equally good. The service however was poor. Took a long time for menus to arrive at our table. Finally the waiter showed up, claiming some type of "emergency" in the kitchen. When we asked about specials, he said "oh, I thought I went through them already." Then he recited a too-long list of specials, so by the time he finished, we were overwhelmed with information. Hey - if you have more than a couple of specials, write them down on a menu. I ordered one of the soups on the special list. Never came. Instead he showed up with the entrees. Biggest turnoff was the dog in the restaurant. Near the time we finished, the owner (I think) walked in with her dog, and the dog roamed throughout the tables. I don't think I'd return if I envision a dog walking about, and I see from other reviews that this is a common practice here.

I felt like an uninvited guest at Bethany's Table. We were greeted with a lukewarm hello, then asked if we had a reservation. We did not. Gentleman then said with a frown, "We will make it work." The place was practically empty. Food was delicious, but I was expecting a warmer more inviting experience. I hate to be so harsh, but what a disappointment.

Bethany's Table sits on the corner of a shopping center and is so easy to miss. The only real prominent sign at Bethany's Table is the one that says "open." However, to miss this little establishment would be a shame because Bethany's Table is actually one of Portland's better French style bistros. A married couple runs Bethany's Table and these folks are delightful. These two are lots of help when it comes to ordering food and wine. The decor could best be described as comfortable elegance. Wine bottles are prominently and beautifully displayed in the restaurant. You feel almost compelled to order a bottle of wine. The tables are close together which actually is quite nice. It puts you closer to the owners and your fellow patrons. It's fun to discuss what you ordered or are about to order with your neighbors. The food. It's superb! The salads and the sandwiches are excellent. Other recommendations are the scallop salad, the pork chops, the beet salad, and the duck confit. This restaurant really excels at salads. If you're in the mood for a glass of wine and a salad then I can think of no better place to go than Bethany's Table. Is France bashing over in the United States? Sure hope so because we enjoy so many great things from France. Bethany's Table is like a charming French Bistro that came over on Air France and touched down gracefully and comfortably into an American suburb.

I ate here once before and the food was great as well as customer service. So then I brought my husband for a night out and all I have to say is it only takes one bad experience to leave a bad taste in the mouth forever. We were first greeted by two hosts/waiters backs for as long as 2 mins before they acknowledged us. Then we were sat in an almost empty restaurant near the busy kitchen and when we asked for one of the many empty other tables we were told they could not accommodate us. We are not difficult people, this was a customer service faux-pas times 10 in our eyes: take care of the patron in front of you. This seemed a concept very difficult for them. Will never go back, which is so sad because the food is not bad and it's near our home. Unfortunately they lost a potential long-time, repeating customer because of terrible customer service.

Well, I've finally had it...enough to call the Washington County Health Department. The owner of this restaurant needs to get a clue - it is NOT okay for you to bring your dog into the restaurant. It's also not okay to allow the dog in the kitchen area nor to let your staff handle the dog and then go back to serving customers. Seen it happen at least twice now. It's not the dog's fault - it's the idiot owner's fault. The health inspector should be there soon. And if you don't think it's an issue - just read all the other Yelp reviews...clearly I'm not the only one disgusted.

We came here for a friend's birthday dinner. We ordered a variety of entrees among the group. While some were good, others were just okay. Unfortunately nothing was fantastic. However, what earned this restaurant the 1 star was the poor service we received from Adam. Clearly he thought it is easy sailing with the automatic gratuity. We had to wait at least 5 minutes after he asked us if we were ready to order, by which we replied that we were, before he returned again. He never came back to check on our entrees. Not sure if he was overwhelmed or did not care (as he was much more attentive to other tables). Some of our appetizers never came (because he did not put in the order) and some of the alterations were not honored (e.g. no sugar on the rim for lemon drop martini, asparagus on the side of the risotto). It was a disappointment as the e-mail communications (confirming the reservation and details) were great, and we were really looking forward to it. Will not return as I would rather go to DeCarli or Hall Street Grill in the Beaverton area with about the same level of food, but much better service.

Bethany's Table is a nice neighborhood bistro. Whether you are a couple on a date, friends out for the evening or a family having dinner, it is a nice and relaxing location. The staff is efficient and friendly, and knowledgeable of their menu and wine list. They had a nice selection of local wines on the list. We ordered a bottle of Chehalem Inox chardonnay. It was very light and reminded me of early summer -- cool and crisp. I ordered the chicken marsala, which was very flavorful but not too rich. I didn't care much for the mushrooms, I couldn't tell if they were fresh mushrooms or maybe they were cut on the thick side or maybe that is just the way porcini mushrooms are. Still very good with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. My husband and our friends ordered steak and while I didn't try any of them, they said were all really good. I gave this a 5 star because of the service, atmosphere and food, which included gluten free. Made for a very nice dining experience.

You know, Bethany's Table is an enigma. A gem located in the netherlands of NW Portland - hidden in a strip mall - not what you would expect. We in the outskirts thank the proprietors for bringing amazing, unique dishes to the burbs. Bethany's Table could easily stand out as the best restaurant in any of the hipster locations within this city. Chef Janet O'Connor brings several unique, local and seasonal dishes that are consistently fantastic. During my last visit I ordered the pate', soup of the day and Carlton farms pork chop. A check-in with the chef was an added plus. All dishes were impeccably prepared and visually stunning. Thank you Bethany's Table and Chef O'Connor!

It was all going well...until I found a hair in my food and no apology...or replacement or even discounted bill was offered. When we arrived here the restaurant was very quiet. A couple tables had older ladies enjoying wine. The inside is rather small and I feared the size of the place, the clientele and atmosphere were not conducive to dining with young children. But the nice gal working inside insisted that it was okay. So we stayed. Personally, I would not say this is a place to bring young children....at all. We managed, but our kids are relatively well behaved...for the most part. Older kids would do fine here, babies and toddlers...not so much. The menu is very very very small....I mean tiny. And everything is pricey. C'est la vie. We were hungry. The food was all very good. We were not disappointed....until the HAIR. I know, I know, it happens. This ain't the first hair I've ever found in a meal served at a restaurant. So I did not freak out. I mean...it wasn't a pube, because that would have made me freak out. I just pushed that part of my meal to the side and waiting for our very nice waitress to return. I quietly told her about the HAIR to avoid embarrassing the establishment in front of other guests. Our waitress responded "That's gross". and I concurred. I assumed at this point that an offer would be made to replace that portion of my meal with a hair free serving, or discounting...or even removing the entire meal from the bill since I was unable to eat that half of it. But, no, this did not happen. There was no further mention, and no apology at all. So weird, because things were going so well. The gal was very nice, I want to make that clear, but when something like this happens you need to do something...I mean anything...to show you feel bad that you just made a customer pay for items that were not on the menu...and were likely not sanitized before they landed in the dish. You catch my drift. Yes, dear, it was gross...very. Would we be back? If I were to just judge the food -minus the HAIR- then I'd say maybe. I would have given this place ..meh....about 4 stars. But based on customer service...I'd have to say not likely and thus the 2 stars ** I want to add, for the ears of the owner, I would have never brought up the hair in a review had the situation been dealt with appropriately at the time**

I was thrilled to find Bethany's Table when visiting my parents. In a neighborhood dominated by chains, discovering a restaurant with a menu built around local, fresh, seasonal food was a pleasant surprise. I excitedly made a reservation to celebrate two family birthday dinners. Bethany's Table offers an appealing standard menu and an extensive array of specials. I greatly enjoyed the prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella with roasted asparagus, and I was impressed by the tenderness of the slow-cooked pork shoulder. Nevertheless, I was sorely disappointed by an egregious lapse of customer service. My pleasure in the meal abruptly ended when one of our party found a live worm wriggling in his salmon. After we pointed out the still-squirming worm, the waiter whisked away the plate and explained that it is not uncommon to find worms--or, as he put it--even bullets in wild salmon. Although I was surprised by the alleged frequency of such incidents, I can accept that the restaurant does not have perfect control over all its meats. What I cannot accept was the way that the owner handled the situation. There are two ways that the owner could have tried to show care for us as customers. One way would have been adequate financial compensation for a ruined meal; the other would have been to personally express regret for the incident. Neither course was taken. Although the restaurant did remove the charge for that salmon dish, there was no additional attempt to rectify the error. The fact is that our entire dining experience was substantially marred by the infested salmon. The person whose salmon was tainted had to leave the restaurant due to growing nauseous, and few people were capable of finishing their meals due to the discomfort and concern the incident generated. A rare birthday dinner when our family was congregated for the first time in years ended with nausea, failed appetites, and a $180 bill mitigated only by the one salmon dish. If the owner had been thinking empathetically and had considered how this incident affected the meal for the whole party, she could have offered partial discounts for all the dishes that we stopped eating following the discovery of the worm. At the very least she could removed the charge for the exact same salmon dish that someone else at the table was eating--a dish whose sanitation was now in question. Another approach--and, frankly, the one that would have been more appreciated--would have involved a personal statement from the owner that she was concerned about and apologetic for the incident. Instead of coming out, apologizing, and saying that she would review her suppliers, she remained cloistered in the kitchen. Even when we expressed out dissatisfaction to the waiter, the owner failed to come out and show concern for her customers. That was the biggest let-down of all. The website of Bethany's Table declares, "We are a neighborhood restaurant and it's our job to take care of our regular customers and to make regular customers out of those who stumble in..." Restaurants are not merely in the business of preparing food; they are, by Bethany Table's own definition, in the business of taking care of customers. In this instance, Bethany's Table failed to deliver both in food and in care. For a restaurant that prides itself on taking care of customers, we felt greatly disappointed by the total lack of empathy. (Note: this review ties to the review written by Alex S. on 8/6/12)

Great breakfast! Was very kid friendly, in fact they made special pancakes just for the five kids under 10 that were there. This is a must have breakfast spot on the West side. I had the scramble with red peppers and spinach. Very good.

We found a live, large moving WORM in our salmon dish......and the best part was being told by our server that it's apparently very common to find things like "worms" and "bullets" in salmon. They did not charge us for the plate but did charge us the other 200 dollars we spent seeing as how it was a large family gathering. We were celebrating 2 family birthdays. I was excited to try this pace! I'm sure a normal experience here is great, but the owners unwillingness to even come out and apologize was outright unacceptable.

My husband and I "USED" to frequent Bethany's Table for lunch while using the Passport Unlimited card. However, we really don't have a reason to go back for a couple of reasons: First, the food is on the expensive side if you don't have the Passport deal. Second, Zoe the dog is always in the restaurant roaming around, something I find quite disgusting, especially when I see the waiters touching the dog and then handling the food. YUCK! Third, Janet the owner never smiles nor attempts to make you feel welcomed. We've tried several times talking to her and she just stands there stone faced acting as if we are bothering her. Never have I seen an owner act like her. We have enjoyed some of the food, mostly at lunch, but the dinner menu is nothing special, but is expensive. The Passport introduced us to Bethany's Table and my husband often would bring clients there, (only the ones who weren't allergic to dogs.) We would go back if the dog was gone, the prices were lower (or bring back the passport) and if Janet would just stay in the back or up in her condo above the restaurant. It is such a shame because the little town center is cute and inviting, but stepping in that restaurant sure is the opposite.

My fiance and I went here last night, celebrating our valentine's dinner a day early. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the host was very nice. Our appetizer was great. But once our entree's came, it was all downhill from there. I went to the restroom, which took me 3 minutes tops. When I came back, our food had just been placed on our table. We both took a couple bites and the food was pretty cold. I normally don't say anything, but this meal was a little more expensive and thought there was no harm in just asking to have the dishes heated up. Now, my fiance went to the restroom when our waiter came over and my exact words were "Im sorry to trouble you but can we possibly have our food just heated up?" He said to me "Oh well you were gone when I dropped the food off, and now he is gone" Implying that it was our fault for the food being cold. I wasn't even upset about the cold food, but I was very taken back by his response of blaming it on us. I work in the restaurant industry and would never treat someone like that. The food was tasteless and didn't taste much better after being warmed up. Also, when he dropped the food off, all of our drinks had been empty for a good 10 minutes and he said he'd be right back to refill them, and wasn't back until 15 minutes later. I was really excited to try this place but I honestly won't be going back and was really disappointed we chose this restaurant for our special date.

A friend and I - who both live near the Bethany area - were looking for a place to have a glass of wine (or three - we have kids under 5 yr) and settled on Bethany's Table after deciding we didn't feel like driving into NW Portland. It was a THURSDAY night. Now, yer ol' Mammy Ava used to be sans les enfants ("w/o kids" - French, people.) and used to go out with her husband and/or friends on somewhat of a frequent basis, and if she recalls correctly, Thursday nights are kind of a "going out" night, right? This was our assumption, and we hit the suburban, ubiquitous mall-ish jungle with our lit-up rims and our KE$HA on blast! (No. Neither of those two things happened.) So we meet at 8:00 PM. I had never been to any of the businesses that have prior occupied this place, but from the looks of things, it's a really cozy and welcoming set-up. Rustic Italian, if you will. There is one bistro table as you walk in the door, which I think would be considered the "bar", and the remaining space is the restaurant. At the time, the place was about half-occupied but "bustling sounding" which I like... if you've ever tried to have a cozy, wine-fueled gab-fest with a girlfriend in a desolate suburban restaurant, you know how awkward it is. Anyway, I think we both appreciated the ambiance and the fact that it was being patronized by other people at the same time. And wide age range of people, which is also nice. My friend had arrived first and been seated at one of the restaurant tables and tells me she had let the server know we would be "drinking only" (I love her no-nonsense spirit). Upon my sitting down, we decided it would be best to share a bottle of wine. THIS is where my two-star rating stems from: After kind of ignoring us for waaaay too long, the server finally came by and asked if we'd like something. We asked if we could please see a wine list, since we'd like to share a bottle of wine. We hadn't been handed anything, and though I may not get out as much as I used to, I'm under the impression that expecting a restaurant of this nature to have a "wine list" is perfectly reasonable. But the server says to us (quoting this as close to VERBATIM as possible): "That would be ME - I'm your wine list. I'm the 'SOM' and I can tell you what you're looking for." All this, sans smile, matter-of-fact. Um, ok. We weren't expecting a human wine list, but it seemed mildly impressive, and we were willing to take the bait. So we tell him we'd like a $30-ish bottle of Pinot Noir, or "something similar". (Now, as a sidenote, Ye Ol'Aves here is no wine connoisseur by a long shot, but I have enough husbands and friends in my life who know their wines relatively well that though I can't personally taste the difference between ok wine and awesome wine, if I see Rex Goliath 2011 Blah-dee-blah Blend for $50 on a wine list, I'd know it was a huge markup on something I could've gotten at TJ's for $8.99. Ok? D'accord? Continue? Ok...) So we ask for the "$30-ish" bottle of "something pinot noir-ish" and I kid you not, the dude visibly scoffs and says (again, practically verbatim) "UH... yeah, you cant TOUCH a bottle of pinot here for under $50." And then he sighs! Sorry, are we putting you out right now?! We have been only polite and friendly to you and we'd just like some wine! Being totally taken back by his uber snotty answer, and not feeling like another 15 minutes worth of wait for him to come around, we asked "Can we 'touch' ANY reds here for $30?" And in my head: "... cuz this is a strip mall in ______ Bethany, and not Bluehour, and someone just walked in in Tevas with socks. Seriously, dude?! Bring us wine. Like right now." So by now, knowing full well this guy has a chip on his shoulder, but has us hostage (cuz anyone with kids knows, you just wanna sit down, start drinking and get the talk out - amiright, mommies? Anyone?) - we ask him to bring "the best red wine $30-ish can buy" and he says something like "I'll see what I can do." Yeah. You do that, Som. So he comes back with a Cab blend of some sort, which was good (to me and my friend - it didn't say Yellow Tail Shiraz on the bottle. Not that I'd care - just wouldn't pay $32 for it.) We agree to take the wine, because, who cares - get away from us Som, so we can talk about our kids and clothes and dreams and hopes and all that nonsense. Unfortunately, after bringing the wine, Som becomes super attentive, and checks on us so frequently, it's verging on uncomfortable, and by the time 9:30 PM rolls around, we have consumed a chocolate tort between us (pretty tasty, but seriously, it was like 50% to get him off our backs) and it has become very apparent that since we're not spending any more money, he wants us to leave so he can close up. There was one other table occupied by this time. So we drank up and left, but let me just say in no uncertain terms: WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. Service and wine list would've been better in NW or the Pearl. The end.

After hearing good things I thought I would try out this neighborhood spot with a friend for lunch. When we went in we were not even greeted by a sour pussed woman who told us we could sit wherever we wanted so we picked a cheery table by the window. After our waiter described the wonderful specials and looking at the menu we did have a difficult time deciding on what to order because everything sounded delicious. We finally decided on the BLT with a cup of clam chowder for her and the fish taco special for me. Our food came out minus her soup so I politely asked the waiter for it which he went and got with no apology just came and dropped at the table. The food was quite good! Then water started dropping on my friend which she couldn't figure out how this was happening but I could see where it was coming from. I told her to move quickly as the water soon began to quickly start pouring from the ceiling onto our table! Another guest ran in to the kitchen to get help as noone was coming to our rescue! The waiters were busy cleaning up the floor, the sour puss at the front desk was checking with the women at the next table who spilled a drink and were left to fend for ourselves. Not one employee or owner asked us if they could move us, help us, get us anything! They ignored us! Sour puss went around to all the other tables and spoke with them. When a man came out of the kitchen a little later with a ladder I asked if he was the owner and he said he was. When I mentioned this to him I was shocked at his response: "Obviosly we don't care so just consider your lunch on us." Ok Mr. Smart A#$! What I was looking for was an honest apology and how can I make it right and some good will - maybe then you would have gained some new customers! Way to do business!!

Food GREAT! BUT owner Janet's husband is an embarrassment! His foul mouth and lewd body girations on our last visit St Patrick's Day in front of grandkids have turned us off to a place we have enjoyed over 500 times. L and L

Lived in this neighborhood for long time, but never tried this place. Went there last night and had a fantastic dinner! Service was great, staff friendly, and food was exceptional and of the highest quality. I had Spaghetti and meatballs (trust me, this is not your Lean Cuisine type-all gourmet) and wife had clams. The wine selection was good and reasonably priced. This is now my new neighborhood favorite place!

This is a great, local business: small, sophisticated, high quality, internationally influenced. Wonderful for the Winies. It's good that Portlanders never come to Beaverton to eat, because if they did, you'd never get a table! Go early or make a reservation for primetime. Wait staff is very friendly and frequently are on a first name basis with customers. Kid friendly, but has the atmosphere of a date restaurant. Sometimes service is a little lax, but you're enjoying yourself so much, that you just don't care!

Been coming here since they opened. Loved it at first and was hoping it would be successful. It's gotten a bit expensive and the menu doesn't seem to change much. The dog roaming around seems inappropriate to me and I am a dog person. It's nice to have a decent option on this side of town but nothing worth raving about.

I'm a definite food snob... and I was blown away by Bethany's Table.... The burger was easily the best I've ever I had... The first time we tried to go for dinner, we realized that reservations on a Friday and Saturday night are a must if you don't want to wait an hour, this time however, we were prepared..... The service started out a bit slow, due more to the fact that they were swamped on a Friday night, but ended up being attentive and fantastic. We'll go back again and again, and bring friends with us.

Hard to find first time as sign says "Bistro" not Bethany's Table. Service was great, wine was really good, warm beet salad was the best but my lamb skewer dish was terrible!! At $29, tasted "fishy" believe it or not, and i LOVE lamb, any kind. Prob would have normally sent back but was having good conversation and didn't want to dampen the mood. A friend goes here often for lunch after workout at nearby gym but for such a $$$$, I would much rather go elsewhere. Don't think I'll go back.

Great spot for satisfying foodies in the Bethany area. Service usually good, relaxed. We've had a couple waiters try too hard but nothing unbearable--I'm very selective about service. Portions can be smaller than the average American is used to, but we like quality over quantity.

I found Bethany's Table to be hit and miss. There can be some fine food and some average food. It was highly recommended and after reading the reviews I see lots of words praising the place but I'm not yet convinced. Lived in France for 9 years and for sure know the food. One of the waiters is a friend and he put himself out for us. However, the food was not yet what I would consider excellent French bistro cuisine quality. Bathany's just needs to keep trying and there will be more hits then misses.

I've been here several times for brunch and dinner. Brunch is always excellent, dinner is average to good. So not a bad score for a place in the 'burbs. What I can't get over here, though, is the service. I understand that the waitstaff is primarily the kids of the owners and we should all be understanding. Most of them are fine, working on their manner and patter in a way I find quite endearing. HOWEVER, one of the younger girls appears to have amnesia. EVERY SINGLE TIME she will take your drink order, and wander around the restaurant like a lost puppy for 10-15 minutes. Sometimes she will come back after this break has elapsed to take your food order, not bearing any drinks. Usually around the 20-25 minute mark someone else will come over to find out why you are hogging a table with no food or beverages and you can typically re-order your food and drinks at this point. You will not be offerered any refills or brought your check, also, you better have cash or you'll never be able to leave, since no one will take your check either. It was funny the first time, now it is just plain unreasonable. Seriously, stop letting her wait on people. I waitressed at this age and had no issue completing simple tasks like bringing drinks. Maybe people are still tipping her for a job not done and she's not getting any proper feedback?

This is my favorite place for a lovely meal, yummy cocktail and great service!! The fact we have such high quality food out here from many quality dining establishments is amazing. Even though I go here often, I rarely write a review because I am enjoying myself so much that I forget. Was just there the other night and had the halibut with multiple types of mushrooms. YUMMY! We had the crab dip. Love that it has more crab than anything else. We did ask for extra crostini. It is really terrific when a place takes service seriously and wants their diners to have a wonderful experience. I could not make up my mind on a cocktail but Janice (server) brainstormed with me. We came up with a vodka martini with a squeeze of lemon and shaken with fresh mint. YUMMY!! So happy this place is in my neighborhood!

Incredible food! My caprese salad (with in-house made mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes!) was perhaps the best I've ever had, and my mom said the BLT was the best she's ever had. Fantastic bread too. Wonderful service, excellent menu! I wish I lived closer - I would be here all the time!

This place is excellent! The food was awesome. The Chefs are incredible and the wait staff, Will and Tom, were absolutely fantastic. They were so attentive and offered superb service. My husband and I will definitely return, and will also spread the word about our great experience. Divine Dining Experience!

I had the spicy shrimp with polenta and my mom had a lobster salad. My own dish was fairly bland. It came with three large shrimp on top of a bed of polenta. The shrimp were a little tough, and the dish wasn't really very spicy at all. My mom said the lobster was cooked well, but there wasn't really enough of it to make the salad a meal since there was not much else on the plate other than lettuce. The place had a nice atmosphere. There were games and things to entertain kids if you went there as a family.

Love this place! We live in the area and have never eaten here. The food was wonderful! It was hard to choose what to have. My husband had the Chicken Marsala which had a terrific Marsala sauce. I had the Beef Stroganoff which was heavenly! Janet, the owner is just delightful. Exceptional wine list with a boutique winery touch from many regions. Jeff is very knowledgeable in his wine. We can't wait to come back! Lou & Kathy Tosti Beaverton (Tanasbourne)

I really want to be able to go to a local restaurant however the prices here are outrageous for what you get. I have enjoyed the bavette steak in the past, but tonight it came rare instead of medium as how we ordered it. They did take care of it and when we got our bill we noted the starter salads we ordered were $10 a piece and our glasses of wine were $9 each. These prices are beyond what we would be paying in downtown Portland. I want to walk to a restaurant in my neighborhood that has good food with reasonable prices, this is not the place. Sadly, we won't be returning due to the limited same menu and the prices. I really thought we had something special here in Bethany. Hoping for something more affordable in the neighborhood. Good luck Bethany's Table ~ I did note there were less people visiting your establishment lately.

We have been here several times and the food is consistently fantastic. Bethany's Table is a real gem in a somewhat arid desert of the Beaverton area culinary scene. They have a great wine selection, and the owners are always friendly and accommodating. The menu changes frequently, but even if you don't see your favorites, you will surely find something else on this creative and appealing menu. The presentation of the dishes is always lovely, and the food, delicious and well-prepared. The homemade bread and generous soft butter they bring out is something I could make a meal out of! Sometimes when I want a light meal, I will order a selection of their "pantry board" appetizers with a salad. (My favorite is the curry cauliflower.) Vegetarians and omnivores alike will find something to delight the palate. Desserts are always tasty (try their coconut berry panna cotta -- so light and refreshing!) Every time we've been here, the place is hopping! Reservations are recommended, although they do their best to accommodate walk-ins.

This place is exceptional! The staff is so nice and the food is fantastic! Tonight I had the fresh house made caprese with heirloom tomatoes and wonderful balsamic, the vinegar makes it. The bacon wrapped scallop was so good! The filet bites are yummy and perfectly cooked!

This place sucks. I was really hoping for a great bistro in the neighborhood.... This place doesn't fit the bill. Over priced menu and ridiculously slow service are just the beginning of your troubles when you eat here. I tried it twice hoping for better results... Not to be... I won't be back.

We have eaten here many times. We have spent a bit of money here, too. It is not cheap. Mostly we've been pretty happy. I have written reviews to that effect. We like the local, sustainable, seasonal focus. We learned to ignore some bumpy uneven service. It is in our neighborhood. That is cool. The good food made the uneven service less annoying. The last four or five visits tho', there has been a little something wrong each time. Not enough to make us say we won't ever be back, but it's starting to add up. Water spilled all over me by the server, the chef's daughter who is pleasant enough usually, without any apology. Our ticket not going in. For an hour. And it was not busy. We watched people come, order, eat, and leave. When we finally asked we received " oh I forgot" ( same server) again no apology. I think they took off an entree from the bill. Noodles swimming in butter ( no cheese) plonked down on the table by the chef with no smile or words whatsoever for our ten year old. ( who asked what she had done wrong). Both chef and husband owner walk around in jeans with the dog, not greeting most customers, and seem lost in their heads as if they are still in their condo upststairs. Ok. But as someone else noted it doesn't feel welcoming. This may seem unimportant but honestly being welcomed is part of the flavor of a meal. I've eaten more simple meals other places ( and less spendy) and been happier simply because we got a smile and a thanks. Last night hubby's pasta dish was missing ingredients, had bones in it, and wasn't yummy. My wild Alaskan halibut dish was good... but not great for a jaw dropping $32. And then there is the resident dog. While cute ( my kid loves her), we don't believe dogs belong in restaurant kitchens or dining rooms. Not everyone likes dogs. A sign on the door says "warning dog inside"...WTF? Can we even talk about health codes for a minute? People touch the cute dog and then they touch our food. So, while hubby and I badly want a cute bistro in our hood with good food, we are going to take our money elsewhere for a while. Maybe Bethany's Table is just going through a phase. We will probably try it again simply because its two minutes from our house. But in this economy if we are going to drop that much on a meal.... well. You see my point. It's Portland Restaurant month. 3 Course meals in some of Portland's better places for $29. We are going to take advantage of that for a bit.

I've heard good things about Bethany's Table from a couple friends and I came here for dinner on a weeknight. PANTRY BOARD (3 for $5) : We picked these options and all 3 were quite good and I would recommend theme. 1.kale, shaved brussel sprout and rapini salad with a maple-tahini dressing 2.Two types of chorizo from Olympic Provisions 3. phyllo wrapped marinated beef PAELLA FOR TWO ($39): This was a really disappointing dish. The rice was mushy and it tasted like just a tomato based sauce. Paella should have a strong saffron flavor but it didn't have any. In fact I think the rice wasn't even yellow from saffron so maybe they left out that ingredient on accident. Other ingredients were quite standard with calamari, prawns, mussles, clams, chorizo, and sausage. The portions were huge because my two friends and I shared that dish and we still had some leftover to take home.

Absolutely horrible service. Had been here twice before and loved it, but the 3rd time was a joke. Stood up front for at least 5 minutes before even seeing a waiter or hostess in site. Finally were greeted and expected to be seated right away since there were 4 empty tables inside and a bunch of tables outside. Instead, the host started asking all the waiters where we should sit. We stood and waited in the meantime before the host finally had us sit and wait. He brought some kind of wine or champagne that neither of us drink, while he continued to try and decide where to sit us. We finally just got fed up and walked out. What REALLY put the icing on the cake was that the host followed us out of the restaurant and proceeded to degrade us for not wanting to wait. He literally told us "we'd be better off at Taco Bell". Are you kidding me? We will never return and will tell everyone about how rude this host was and how incompetent the service is. Such a disappointment for someone who lives in the Bethany area.

Since there are no really good restaurants on the West side, Bethany's Table stands out as the only beacon full of surprises. I've been to this place many... many times and I haven't been disappointed. Janet (the chef) strongly believes in sustainable veggies/produce and therefore the menu changes every 3-4 months. When in season, cioppino is strongly recommended - it's the 2nd best cioppino I had in this country.

As always, fantastic. David, Janet and crew consistently amaze. Comfortable seating, great ambiance and the food always a cut above. This time perfect salmon, wonderful wine by the glass; how many places do superior wines by the glass? most restaurants if you want something decent you need to buy the whole bottle. Thanks for yet another superior experience in dining.

I really like this place. It's a great neighborhood bistro, with excellent food, great wines at very reasonable prices, and friendly & fun service. The burgers are downright decadent, but they have more sophisticated fare as well. It is usually quite busy on weekend evenings but not over-crowded.

I am somewhat of a "regular" here since I love this place so MUCH. I go here for work lunches, for dinners when I simply can't think of anything to make after a hard day at work and for special family occasions. I have always been amazed at the quality of the food. Janet is truly a genius-- working with local fresh ingredients in creative and delicious delights. The service has improved over the years as they have replaced some of the "grumpy" and slow servers so that recently my service experience has matched the high quality of the food. I want to comment on the discussion of prices-- I shop a lot for organic, high quality food and this food seems realistically if UNDER priced to me. Especially the fish dishes-- with fresh halibut going for $24 a pound the fish dishes are a steal. So eating locally and organically doesn't mean cheap. If cheap is what you want go to Subway across the street. ( which I personally do sometimes so I am not a food snob--just want to pick what I am in the mood for and what the budget supports at any given time). The cocktail menu is superb and they will do CUSTOM drinks. My all time favorite is a pepper martini which in my opinion they should put on the menu.... really really good-- so next time you go ask for the "Lauretta pepper martini". Enjoy this place, support local hard working , genuinely interested in the community business and all the local businesses they support( farmers, local wine makers and etc). And on the few occasions when the service has not been up to my expectations I speak up and they fix it... these folks want to stay in business, want to provide you with a superb dining experience and want to be part of our community. Go there..

Couldn't have asked for a better first experience. We had two of the specials Halibut & Steak and both were outstandingly cooked and priced appropriately for what we received. Our waitress Lisa was funny, attentive and quick witted. Wine selection was good. I'm just disappointed I didn't find this place sooner as it is tucked a bit away.

Constantly changing menu with delicious food, and fun wine-loving owners who love chatting up clients. Their scallop salad and bavette steak are currently my favorite menu items. I often take out of town guests here for a meal. They recently remodeled the interior to allow for more seating.

Great Food and atmosphere. We have been several times and the service is always slow, slow, slow. Not sure if it is the wait staff or the kitchen. When you go, you can't be in a hurry. We love the caesar salad.

I really want to give this place higher than 3 stars because it's nice to have some variety in the Bethany area but I can't. While the food is local and fresh, the flavor just isn't there on several of their dishes. It's good but it doesn't make me want to have more. It's not that I wouldn't go there again but it would be out of convenience more than anything else. The bread is great - fresh with an excellent crust. But the rib eye steak and red potatoes had little if any flavor. The squash pasta was good but it wasn't quite warm enough & cooked well enough. I am hoping they improve in time because it is very nice to have something close by.

I like the concept of this restaurant. It's conveniently located for me and love that's it's not big box. I tried this place once during the summer with my boyfriend. I cannot say were blown away. I also can say I'm not itching to go back. The food was alright and the people were nice. I must say this place has a niche location and people outside the area probably wouldn't flock to this place. The cuisine is continental because it's not strictly French nor Italian. Would I go back...maybe.

My wife and I stumbled across this restaurant while shopping. We had a delightful lunch there and vowed to return for dinner. About two weeks later we were taking a friend out for her birthday and thought of Bethany's Table. I tried calling their listed phone number a number of times to make a reservation over the course of Saturday, 5/14/11. No answer. Finally, someone picked up at about 4:15pm. I wanted reservations for an early dinner so we could make it to a dance recital on time; needed a table at 5:30pm. The person I spoke to asked how many and what time and said that 5:30pm was prettily heavily booked already. I said I would understand and then he asked if my party could arrive by 5:15pm. By this time, I had to say "no." He then said he could put us at table #(something) which seated 6 rather than our small party of 3. I told him that would be fine. About half an hour later I got a call back from Bethany's Table and was basically accused of harassing the first person I spoke with. They asked if I could arrive at 5:15 rather than 5:30. By this time I couldn't possible have physically gotten there so I had to say "No" again. The reply was "Well, then you can try us again some other date." The second person's tone was abrupt to the point of hostility. Despite the promise we had felt about Bethany's Table our first time there I can't imagine why I would deal with them again. The restaurant was good but the staffmember turned us completely off.

I have been through many installments of this place, and now that it decided to be a restaurant, I thought I'd give it a try. My husband and I arrived without a reservation at about 5:30 on a Tuesday. We were offered a table, but other people who began showing up just a half hour later were not as lucky. The owner, David, began turning people away, and his method became a little more rude each time (though he was never mean). The service of course became slower as more people showed up because there seemed to be only one server for the whole restaurant. The food was fine, but not nearly up to par compared to Pearl District options, though the prices were comparable. The atmosphere was loud, and there were large numbers if children there which added to the noise factor. All in all, this place was basically a place where neighborhood families could go without having to head into the city for a nicer dining experience. However, Bethany's Table isn't ready to play in the major leagues just yet. I think they should work on their creativity a bit and then I might try them out again.

My husband and I both LOVE Bethany's Table. Sunday brunch is great although they don't seem to have brunch hours posted on here. The food is always fresh and local and the menu is always changing depending on what is in season. New specials all the time and we always leave happy! Chef Janet is awesome and very friendly actually unlike some reviews in here. Yes there is an adorable dog that is there sometimes but we have been in about 20 times and only seen him twice. I love it when he is there!!! But I suppose if you don't like dogs then you would have a problem. But he is cute!!!! Great food, lovely environment, fresh flowers on the table, good coffee, delicious fresh squeezed orange juice. Truly a gem in this part of town. Not too many restaurants like this in the area. We both highly recommend stopping by!

Great option for brunch if you live in Bethany area. They have the usual egg variations, Huevos, Benedicts, Steak and eggs, customary fancy French toast, several "local veggie" scrambles, "bistro" burgers, and fancy potatoes. So if you want to avoid the mad rush for special "eggs" from chickens serenaded by the chef, and would like to avoid waiting 1hr with your screaming children (if you live in Bethany, pretty sure you got those), then Bethany Table is a must visit. All the casual weekend brunch experience and inflated prices without the drama! Service is nice and friendly. A plus

The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because I didn't get to meet the dog I've heard so much about. Great food, great service. Not as expensive as other reviewers make it out to be. It's worth it!

I've been here a number of times over the past several years, and I've had mixed results. I want to like this place, I've tried to like it. And there are a few things I do like. It's close to home, and I prefer to dine at independent, locally owned restaurants. I rarely choose to dine at chain type places. The food I have had here is delicious and made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients when possible. Our service has always been friendly and attentive. They have a reasonably priced kids menu that offers quality choices. And they brought my children each a bowl of fresh fruit along with crayons and papers as soon as we were seated for dinner. Very nice unexpected touch! Now for the things I don't care for as much. The prices are well beyond what we would spend for a casual dinner out. If we are going to splurge on a special occasion, there are so many great restaurants in Portland I would like to try before I'd go to the same one again just because it's close to home. Also, the appetizer portions are very small and way overpriced. Example, one medium sized scallop in a mushroom cream sauce for $7. Seriously? The entree portions are more generous, but can still cost up to $35 (as my husband's daily special bison entree did.) And sadly, they don't offer any happy hour food or drink specials. If they did, I can see my husband and I coming by more often due to convenience and value. I would recommend this restaurant to people as something to try. It's just not a place that fits into my general dining out list of choices.

The food is above average, however, the service has room for improvement.

Best Polenta Ever. Came here for the first time for lunch last week. I had the polenta with spicy prawns. It was the best polenta I've ever had. Creamy and absolutely delicious to the last bite. I had to give my compliments to the chef. The dish was a bit on the small side but the quality more than made up for the quantity. I also appreciated that the waiter asked how spicy I wanted the prawns to be. Excellent and attentive service, lovely wood tabletops, nice atmosphere overall. Also, remember to ask for bread. Don't know why they didn't bring out bread without us having to ask, but when it came, It was warm, soft, freshly baked, accompanied with a dish of butter, and a wonderful addition to the meal. Bread is something that I've found many restaurants--even high priced ones--neglect. It's too often not warm enough, or not of sufficiently high quality to match the restaurant. This bread was delightful. Definitely looking forward to coming back here.

I took a friend here last night after hearing nice things about the restaurant. First of all, it's surprisingly hard to find: almost no signage and they are also doing construction work above the restaurant. Inside, the dining room is ok, but it's nothing spectacular. We were seated at a quiet table near the back. The waiter was solid: professional and attentive. The food was ok. The pantry board is misquoted in an earlier Yelp review: it's 3 for $13 and probably not worth the $5 quoted in the earlier review. We got the radish, peas, favas, feta and mint with lemon vinaigrette (which was virtually flavorless except for the feta crumbles), "bayley hazen blue" - aged blue cheese from cellars at jasper hill (I think we got about a 1/2 ounce piece: certainly not worth $5), and castelvetrano olives - firm green italian olives (which were ok, but I'm not sure they are worth $5. We both would have preferred a mixture of two or more olive types). In general, these appetizers were really pretty disappointing both in quality and size/price. On the bright side, the paella (for two, $39) was pretty good. No complaints about quantity or quality of the seafood (well, a few large pieces of calamari weren't cooked). We got a very large serving of it (served in a paella pan) and we ended up taking nearly half of it home with us. My only complaint with the dish is that we couldn't really taste the saffron at all. The friend had the creme brulee ($7) and I had a house coffee: both were tasty. Overall, I think Bethany's Table is definitely overpriced for what you get. The decor and the food don't warrant high-end Portland restaurant prices because the food isn't up to par. While there aren't many good choices west of NW 23rd, it's certainly not worth a trip out from the city and spending $70 for an ok dinner. I'm giving it three stars instead of two mostly because there just aren't many decent places to eat in Beaverton. However, it's several notches below Decarli's in downtown Beaverton, which is the only place serving European cuisine in this area that is really worth a repeat visit to.

We've been meaning to try Bethany's Table for awhile now, but for one reason or another, kept putting it off. When they finally started using OpenTable to do reservations and they popped up when we were looking for a last minute Friday night reservation, we figured what the heck? I'm glad we finally gave it a shot! We arrived for our 6:30 reservation and were promptly seated. Dining room was busy, so I was a little worried about slow service (especially after reading some of the reviews here), but Mark, our waiter, was great. Food was fantastic (I had sweet corn ravioli with langostino in a brown butter sauce off the specials, husband had spaghetti and meatballs). Great wine too - they had an '07 Oregon Pinot Noir by the glass (!) something I definitely wasn't expecting. Long story (not so) short - we'll be going back.

Another awesome dinner spot that serves excellent, healthy food for a reasonable price. It was Halloween, so it wasn't busy. There was one other couple there enjoying a bottle of wine. The lighting was dim, candles were lit, monk music was playing, and our chef was dressed as a cowgirl! I ordered the spicy garlic prawns with polenta, and he ordered the italian pork verde. Our dinner came quickly, and the portions were perfect. The polenta was amazing, and a perfect pairing with the prawns and sauce. I snuck quite a few bites of his entree and it was perfect. The pork was falling apart, the italian verde added an interesting flavor, and the corona beans were oddly addictive. They always have a selection of soups, and the salads are more reasonably priced than 24-hour chain restaurants. I'm excited to come back and eventually try everything on the menu.

I need to update this review based on my cranky performance last time. Bethany's Table responded with graciousness and I understand it was a bit of a rough day. I should have taken that into consideration. The food is indeed tasty, and it is refreshingly different than most other area restaurants. Don't let my earlier response stop you try it out and make up your own mind, Rico and I are now buddies. :):)

We went back over the weekend, unable to resist the temptations. We got the brie appetizer, which comes with apple slices, walnuts, honey, warm brie, and toasted bread. It is always a tasty choice, it is just enough food to dull the hunger pangs, but not so much that you can't eat the entree. I definitely recommend it. I ordered the chicken marsala (again), and it was wonderful. The asparagus and brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly, as was the chicken. A wonderfully satisfying dish. My significant other ordered the risotto, which had corn, cherry tomatoes, and something green, I can't recall. It was quite good, possibly a little too sweet for me, but still tasty. For dessert we went with the butterscotch pudding, topped with caramel and whipped cream. The pudding was great, the whipped cream was great, but the caramel (or carmel? IDK), was way too much. It was so salty, and had such a strong bourbon aftertaste that we had to dig around it. This is the one and only time I have ever wanted something without caramel. Not the greatest end to a meal, but it was still a pleasant evening.

Wow what a delightful little spot tucked away in a strip mall. I live about 3 miles from here and can't believe it's taken this long to get myself in for a meal. I like the decor understated and warm, cozy and intimate. The food was spectacular! Warm bread and butter along with delightfully happy servers make you feel at home straight away. The winter salad with blood orange and pomegranates was light and tasty. For the main I had the beef tenderloin topped with chantrel mushrooms and a red wine reduction, it was orgasmic! Sitting beautifully next to my mashed potatoes and crispy green beans I ate everything on my plate. My hubby had the Alaskan cod which was spicy and flaky good. Too stuffed for dessert we left fat and happy already discussing which friends we want to share our next meal there with. I will be back! Thanks for such a fabulous meal, I think I love you!

Ordered the Paella (too big for two) which was average. The Caprese Salad and French Brie was delicious though. Service and atmosphere was friendly. Reservations recommended.
