I finally stopped in to eat breakfast here. We ordered corned beef hash, pancakes and a plate of just eggs, bacon and potatoes. Everything was delicious. Huge portions! All Worth the money. Nice atmosphere. We will definitely eat here again.

What a great spot for breakfast! He's high up and looks out on the beautiful Yaquina Bay and bay bridge.... And the food is as good as the location and atmosphere. As a new resident of the coast, I was pointed here by long-time coast-dweller -- and for good reason. The coffee is hot and strong -- and he makes the frou-frou coffee drinks as well. :D The sign outside says coffee-tea-pastries -- but he serves a wide breakfast menu. His kitchen turned out a pancake the size of a hubcap for my husband -- and I had a terrific plate of crab cakes florentine -- 2 really delicately seasoned crabcakes -- lots of crab meat -- seasoned with dill, capers, onions and bell peppers -- in a light cornmeal crust over fresh baby spinach, and topped with a very light and creamy dill sauce and 2 poached eggs. The rest of the plate was a bed of chopped fresh tomatoes and 2 nice wedges of cloud-light cornbread. Oh my goodness -- Yes, the crabcakes were a bit pricey for everyday breakfast -- but it was a special day and a chance to taste how they do crab in this part of the country. Yum. Husband's was competitively priced for similar cafes. They serve coffee by volume, rather than a bottomless cup -- but it's in a touristy part of Newport, and he's no more expensive than a Starbucks -- and I'm guessing his rent is a lot higher.... Yes I will be going back. They have outdoor seating for pretty weather -- and a water dish for pups on the deck -- He's taken over a spot on my top-5 list of breakfast spots for the area!!

Our new breakfast favorite. Warm smiles greet you. Delicious food treats you. We had cornbeef hash and eggs. It was scrumptous. We washed it down with good coffee and mimosas. We recommend stopping in Newport just for this hidden gem. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

(LIMITED REVIEW) Didn't have time to eat here, we just got coffee. Not too thrilled. Very bitter. Not personally my thing. But the menu looked delicious.

Had breakfast here yesterday. Great food, good coffee, nice views of the fishing boats, cute place. My crab-asparagus omelette was fantastic! Service was very friendly but VERY slow due to understaffing. The barista/cashier/host/waiter guy was very friendly but could not keep up with the overflow crowd despite working his butt off. This place needs more than a three person crew whenever it is over half full, which is probably most of the time. Another waitress would have gone a long way towards making for a more pleasant experience for everyone, and they would turn tables over faster. There is no lack of demand of people wanting to eat here.

Food and ambiance was great. I had the chicken sandwich. They bake all of the bread and pastries in house and they are fantastic. The sandwich and fries could have easily fed two people. Took awhile to get the food, they seem short handed in the kitchen. I would definitely come back though. Worth the wait.

Took my mom, daughter, and her friend here for breakfast before heading home to the valley. You go up to the register to order and pay and then seat yourself. It came to $45 which is about what we were paying for the 4 of us to eat breakfast so the prices were comparable. Mom ordered clam chowder, daughter ordered crepes, her friend ordered a chicken sandwich, & I ordered bacon, eggs, potato, & toast combo. Mom and I both had coffee. When the waitress brought us our coffee we asked for crème and she pointed to a small table over in the corner and told us there was also water over there as well. It's very small in the coffee house anyway and I had to make my way around the tables where people were trying to enjoy their meals and crowd in behind a guy at his table to get to the creamer. My mom drinks hers black but said it was so bitter sent me back over to get her creamer. We tried "doctoring up" the coffee but it was so bitter no amount of creamer and sugar could fix it. Then our food arrived and it looked delicious! I guess looks can be deceiving. Mom said her chowder was really cold and I tasted it and it was and it also had a weird flavor. Even if it were warm I don't think I would have cared for it. My eggs, potatoes, and bacon were all cold. My toast was good and I tried eating it with one of my eggs but the eggs were so cold. My daughter said her crepes were good but a little on the cold side, and her friend asked for no mayo on her sandwich and it came with mayo which she was trying to wipe off with a napkin. My mom had already taken her medication that she has to eat with and we couldn't even stomach our food. We told the waitress that my mom's meal and mine were both cold as she walked by and said she would be right back. 5 or so minutes later she came back defensive saying the cook said he just pulled the chowder out of the pot as she grabbed up our plates and said we could have a refund. I went up to the register as the 2 girls worked out some math and then held out around $15. I am hoping this was a rare occurrence because it was just awful and I won't be back. If they would have been nicer about everything, I may have given this place another chance on the food thinking maybe it was just an off day for them, but they never apologized for anything and were extremely rude!

Looking for a good cup of coffee in Newport, my mom found this place online and we decided to check it out. It was so adorable inside with its colorful buoys, whimsical nautical displays and view of the bay, that we wanted to stay a while. So I browsed the menu and ordered an omelet that, at $11, seemed a bit pricey. When it came, however, I realized it was well worth the money. Truly, one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. A fluffy omelet with fresh asparagus cooked al dente and wild mushrooms with a cream sauce in the middle. Oh my god. Then it was served with crispy potatoes lightly salted that weren't greasy and didn't even need ketchup. And the piece de resistance, a homemade biscuit. I usually pass on the bread but this was too delicious and I smothered it in real butter. I shared the breakfast with my mother, who claimed not to be hungry when I ordered it, and we were both satisfied. Oh yeah, and the coffee was great. Sit inside or outside, The Coffee House is a treat.

Asparagus, wild mushroom, three cheese and creamy tomato sauce omelette?? YES, PLEASE!!!!!! If it tells you anything about how we feel about The Coffee House in Newport, Oregon: we used to drive here from Portland just to have their amazing food hit our bellies. We now live in Tahoe and are vacationing in a yurt in Florence and this little restaurant was one of our predetermined destinations for this trip. It never disappoints...

My main problem is with the name... The Coffee House. If you have coffee in the name of your establishment and the coffee is mediocre, then you've kind of failed in your mission. The cafe is cute as a coastal button. Located just across from the marina, it is an absolutely lovely spot to take in the view. Only after the fact did I read the other reviews and realize that the majority of the raves are reserved for their food, not the coffee. Mr. K and I become coffee addicts on the coast and of all the coffee drunk on our most recent trip, this was the least enjoyable. And with all the amazing local roasters, I find it odd that they import coffee from San Francisco (McLaughlin Coffee). Since the location is excellent and the decor is charming, I would return and give their menu a shot. I will get my java infusion elsewhere.

I was starving, and the place we wanted to go was closed, so we took a kind strangers advise to check this place out. When I had such a hard time finding parking, I took it as a sign that we shouldn't go there, but we did anyway, and when we got here, I wanted to run. The "clueless" gal taking orders (she wrote down "Crap Cakes" on the ticket) and the tacky decor were more bad signs. We had some help ordering from another gentleman and decided to go ahead and order. While we waited for our order, the constant sound of the microwave being used was another bad sign. My pancake was huge, the maple syrup was real, and it was pretty good. My husband had the Florentine crab cake bene and it was ok, but not the best. They have a big sign stating that they give excellent service, excuse me? We sat at a dirty table, found the last of the silverware, and after our food was delivered no one ever came to check on us or clear the table. Right at 2 pm they closed the kitchen and turned people away. The cook probably already has had a long day and has to go to another job. Who knows. I won't be back, that's for sure; I should have paid attention to the signs.

Worst macchiato I've ever had. Lady didn't even know what it was and had to look it up. Bitter and flavorless. Fail

On an overnight trip to Newport, we decided to stop here for breakfast. We were not disappointed! LARGE portions, extremely fresh ingredients, and a very pleasant staff made this one of the best stops on our trip. The mimosas are made with fresh squeezed OJ. The coffee is freshly brewed by the cup. I ordered the asparagus, wild mushroom and 3-cheese omelette... the eggs were amazingly fluffy, and the veggies were so fresh and flavorful! Opt for the biscuit!! A young man with us ordered the large pancake, but we had no idea what we were in for... it was way bigger than the plate! Seating is limited, and fills up fast in the morning. There is no "line" for seating, so be prepared to grab what you can when you see it. That tiny inconvenience was well-worth the reward! I will make this a must-do stop every single time I'm in Newport from now on!!

I am writing this as I sit waiting for my food to be delivered, we have been here 45 mins and have yet to eat.... We got served our food as I was writing this, at first every thing seemed great, the creamosa had fresh whipped cream. The place was crowded but I could over look that until it took 45 minutes to get our food. Then the potatos were not edible, like barely cooked so not even digestible. Since the food took so long the coffee was cold, when we asked for it to be reheated we got a ton of attitude from the server about how she would never drink micowaved coffee, she finally just put extra coffee in the cup and made it clear she was doing us a favor. No, it wasn't a favor. The biscuits and gravy were pretty great but I would never go back. Also really expensive, but large portions.

I dont get the fuss about this place. Expensive food, not that great of quality and cheap looking coffee cream station. If I'm paying 10 plus dollars for breakfast, I best be getting a waitress and real blueberries in my pancakes. I feel a bit ripped off, frankly. Nice view, the staff was nice and they had good coffee on the plus side.

This place should be ashamed to call itself the coffee house... It took me 15 minutes to get 2 regular coffees to go, and they used fake creamer instead of milk. I would avoid this place if you are looking for just a cup of coffee.

On a 42 degree, windy, rainy morning in Newport, I went for a walk along the historic bayfront, and came across The Coffee House just after 7AM on a Thursday. I was pleasantly surprised it was one of the extreme few places open. The aromas were of a very fresh breakfast being whipped up, and strong, fresh coffee (each made to order). This is a charming little house-turned restaurant coffee shop across from the marina, where the menu had a variety of breakfast and lunch items from granola parfaits made with their own raspberry sauce to huge omelets to big biscuits with sausage gravy, and more. As far as my coffee goes, I'm relatively picky and my 20oz latte (in a giant mug for here) was good. The beans were a little flat-tasting, otherwise it'd be great. The gal behind the counter was very warm and friendly and was polite in letting me know they bring beverages (and food) to you at your table. I found it comfortable, reasonably priced, good coffee, and couldn't ask for a better view. I was able to dry off a bit and warm up and journal a while, while I sipped my coffee. I was so impressed with my overall first experience, I returned two days later to get another coffee (which the 2nd time was better than the 1st) and couldn't resist picking up a home-made cinnamon roll for my husband (who said it was good but ridiculously sweet). I was impressed with the fact they make all their own pastries (Muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls, etc.) right there and didn't rush me out. I can't wait to go back on my next trip to Newport and maybe try some of their amazing-smelling and looking foods. :)

Quaint place - impressive breakfast/ brunch menu. Real friendly staff even when really busy. Little bit of a wait but I didn't mind. Food was good. Very large portions - the "small" pancake is bigger than a hubcap. Would split something if not real hungry. Will definitely be back if the opportunity presents itself.

I've had better lattes. I'll leave it at that. This place must get 4 & 5 stars for their food which we'll have to try some time.

This is an update from my review of last year. We always stop here when we are in Newport. In the past the food has been great and the little elderly Australian lady who ran the place was terrific. She ran the place like a Swiss watch. We just got back from there today and things have changed a bunch. I'm afraid that we have decided to cross this place off our list of places to stop and eat when we are at the coast. Our Australian lady seems to be gone. Perhaps she retired. We don't know. She has been replaced by two (!) young women in the front of the restaurant who simply don't have it together. I don't know if they are stoners or not, but it does appear that way. Same for the guys in the back doing the cooking. It took forever for our simple breakfast to be served. It looks like they could only handle one order at a time. When our food finally arrived, it was not even warm and the plates it was served on were stone cold. It doesn't take breakfast foods very long to become inedible when served on cold plates. I had one of their large signature pancakes and when it arrived the butter just sat on it and wouldn't melt. Not good! Just an off-day? Perhaps, but there are too many other great places to dine in Newport or nearby to put up with this stuff. While we were waiting so long for our breakfast, we got to see some other dishes being served and the reactions of other restaurant patrons. We watched two women at another table finally get their breakfast and then pick at it for a while before they just looked at each other and got up and left. Obviously their food was cold. Prior to this visit the place was always a bit crowded and sometimes that was a bit of a wait. We were always willing to wait because the food was so good and the little Australian lady was such a delight. This time there was no waiting and plenty of room to sit. Now we think we know why. We'll not be stopping here again.

OK, so the star is for the view. It was New Year's Eve, so I understand that the guy didn't want to be there, but still, in the 45 minutes we were there none of the 5 tables that had dirty dishes on them got cleared. After it became clear no one was going to clear them we cleared a table for ourselves and sat down. A couple of other guests did the same thing - perhaps this is normal? The coffee was not the worst I have tasted, but it was bad by any standard, although the pastries were ok. It looks from the other reviews that we caught them on a bad day.

This place probably has the best atmosphere of any coffee house I've frequented. The oldies jazz music, classic diner breakfasts, wide selection of good quality loose leaf teas and bubbly, genuine staff are completely unrivaled.

Rated 4 stars means "I am a fan" but actually we "used to be a fan".This used to be our favorite stop in Newport, a definite must whenever we visited the coast. But....now they have enclosed their beautiful outdoor terrace. We were shocked when we arrived today. It has taken away everything we loved about this cafe. It was so nice to sit outside enjoying the sun, the view, the breezes and the openness while sitting safely up high and seeing everything go by. That is now gone and we have to find another venue to replace it. It is now just like any other cafe. Their food and drinks are great by the way and we will miss these for sure. So still 4 stars but before the enclosure it would have been 5 stars.

My husband and I tried to get coffee here while we were at the coast in 2010. We stood behind four people that got served, then when it came time for us all of the servers turned their backs. They never said, "ill be right with you... just a minute... be right back..." nothing. After 15 minutes waiting at the counter for someone to make eye contact, answer us when we said 'excuse me", we finally gave up and realized they must not want to serve us for whatever reason. I used the restroom and left. Which was an odd experience in and of itself. There were actual directions on the walls on how to wipe, how to flush and what to flush. Seriously? I'll never go back there, and I tell everyone who goes to the coast to avoid it-

This coffee is not for the faint of heart. It is seriously strong, seriously delicious brew. The Coffee House is located right on Bay Street across from all the awesome sea lion action that draws me back to Newport each and every time. Whenever I come here I imagine what life would be like enjoying coffee by the bay each morning as I bang out yet another great America novel on my laptop, inspired by the exuberant barking of sea lions. A girl could get used to this. But this girl needs her job and has never managed to bang out more than the occasional Facebook status update or Yelp review while sipping coffee by the bay. It is damned good coffee, though.

Exceptional. Fantastic. Wondrous, even. After a long morning of interviews and exploration, I made it to the Coffee House later than I would've liked. I didn't order anything to eat on the spot, because I didn't want to impose upon the staff, and instead got a meat pasty and an apple strudel to go. For about $8.00, the portions were quite significant, and the guy who rang me up was a genial sort, going out of his way to remind me to heat up the pasty in the oven rather than the microwave (as if I would ever do such a thing). I came home and heated up the pasty, then tucked in. It was the best one I had ever had the pleasure to eat, having tried other pasties that have claimed to be authentic and delicious and being rather disappointed. I had the strudel afterwards, and I was literally in heaven. I will certainly make it a point to go back this weekend for those pancakes I've heard nothing but good about.

My wife and I hit the coast on the last nice weekend. This place was great. The staff was friendly, the coffee strong (not bitter) and the OJ, fresh squeezed. I had the "Crab Cake Florentine". Very tasty. My wife had some kind of omelet. It was the kind which is real eggy, not crepe like. So if you like eggy omelets, you'll like these. The location is perfect. Inside seating and outside seating lets you gaze upon the bay. This place is small, so you might want to get there early. I'll be back to try your homemade corned beef hash.

This is my husband & my favorite breakfast place in town. We make a point to stop here at least once every time we visit the area. You walk in, order at the counter then seat yourself. I have the problem of loving the crepes so much I can never convince myself to order anything else. I do know the pancakes are HUGE in size.. at least the size of the plate, if not hanging over the edge a bit. I also love the smoothies, we have to get one of those each visit as well. The restaurant is a bit small, very popular so it gets crowded, and there can be a bit of a wait. I expect that when we go and it's worth it in my opinion. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Once upon a time ago we learned that the super sweet lady who owns it, wakes up at some ridiculous time of morning to come in and make the scones and other quick breakfast items like that. It is a breakfast place, it does close early afternoon, which is depressing when I want a smoothie around then. This little place has a very special place in my heart, I love it.

The food is good, but the service is abysmal. We came for breakfast with friends, watching placing an order. The two orders came out an hour apart, making eating as a group impossible. The staff was unfriendly, unaware and made zero effort to correct mistakes. It took multiple tries to receive the drinks we ordered and overall it was not worth the wait.

  • A E.

Go there early on a Saturday morning. There was a verrrrrry long wait just to place our order. (You stand in line to place your order then take a seat.) But once we got that taken care of, it came out quick and was delicious! We had giant mugs of coffee, fresh-squeezed juice, banana pancakes and biscuits & gravy. Everything was tasty and it's a cute little place.

It's been a year or so since I've been there, however the food was awesome, and huge portions! I had a plate of pan fried oysters (I was expecting 3-5 oysters, but got a plate full) with potatoes and a small side of biscuits and gravy, it was delicious! I'll be back for sure!

  • Shawn O.

This would be a 5 star if the location and seating was better. The food is great and good portions. The coffee is a bit strong, which I enjoyed. Had the hash and it was great. One of the kids had the small pancake and it was more than enough. It did come out cold which was a bummer. Omelets are fluffy. Potatoes are great. Look forward to going back!

We ate here 3 times out of the 6 mornings we had in Newport. This should give you some indication of how much we liked it. :-) First off, they serve breakfast til 3, which is always a positive. :) Second, they have outdoor seating across from the harbor, which is sunny and awesome. Even when those tables are full the inside seating is comfortable and pleasant, with big windows looking out on the water. The place is totally casual and comfortable, order at the register and they bring your food to you. Third, they are totally friendly and welcoming, perfect for your morning meal. And then of course the food. The food is great. A wide variety of breakfast food (I didn't really pay attention to anything other than that! :) ), amongst the group we ordered at least 10 different things over the few days, and everything was awesome, from my "breakfast omelette" with spinach, red peppers, goat cheese and onions, served with hash browns and the best bisquit we've ever had, to pancakes, to my breakfast sandwich served on 2 large slices of foccacia. My mother indulged in a mimosa every day, and I had fresh squeezed OJ. So yummy! Totally recommend. :)

If I wanted fast service, I would go to McD's. I have eaten here on each visit to my sister's who lives just a few blocks away. You walk in, up to the counter, place your order, and they bring it to you when ready. The food is all fresh, tasty, and mouth watering. It is nice to settle in on the patio outside or in the small space inside. To take your time, enjoy the morning, smell the bay, and just absorb the whole experience, yep this is the place. It is what the Oregon coast is about.

After a night of glutinous eating, my parents and i took a nice long walk along the newport coast. Afterwards we decided to stop into the coffee house for a nice breakfast. The place is small and really a two person show. The service is incredibly friendly, but dont expect to get your food in a hurry. It does take a while, but they are really sweet and it just shows that they are making everything from scratch. I decided to get the bacon, tomato and cheese omelet w/o bacon, cause while i've accepted pulled pork, i quite haven't made the jump to bacon. The lady laughed at me, but i still got what i wanted. It was full of melted cheddar cheese, onions and tomatoes... absolutely perfect. It came with an incredible biscuit... soft, flakey and absolutely delicious. It also had potatoes, not just frozen hasbrowns, but home cooked red potatoes. AWESOME. My dad got some fruit, yogurt parfait (and then ate my potatoes!) and my mom got sausage gravy and biscuits which looked amazing. everything is prepared fresh and is delicious They also have a full coffee bar so i was finally able to get some good coffee. It was great! So while slow, this place is definitely worth the wait!

This is one of the best places to get Breakfast in Newport, especially during the summer and early fall. Right on the bayfront, this place has great views of all the fishing boats and the Yaquina Bay bridge. Sit on the deck if the weather permits! The pancakes are huge, the oj fresh, and the coffee is done just right! Don't go if you're in a rush, but if you are looking to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch with a friend, this is the place!

It just looks like a relocated 100 year-old house on the bay from the outside, funny thing is- it IS a relocated 100 year-old house on the bay. It's a great place to get breakfast and a nice hot drink. The BEST chai latte in the history of ever and fresh baked goods. It's got the New Port vibe and great people.

yes yes and yes! Good breakfast, good coffee and a great deck to eat breakfast on a sunny morning. Try any omelette or the pancakes, you won't be dissapointed in the food...the service can be a little unpredictable since the owner hires local, typical teenage servers, but hey, no real bad experiences yet

I love this place. I didn't mind waiting 20 minutes to put in my order, the view, food and service were all great. I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything looked good. As the server went by with plates of food, I noticed all the omelettes and pancakes were huuuge! I decided for something warm and sorta healthy. I ordered a hot oatmeal served with almonds and brown sugar on the side. I also had a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese and a cup of Chai. My husband ordered a ground beef Pastie and he thought it was really good. He also had an Irish breakfast tea which he enjoyed. I still can't believe all that food cost $13.50! That's a cheap breakfast for two! We ended up sitting outside because there was limited seating inside and tons of people waiting in line inside hovering over the tables. The weather outside was nice, the sun was out and there was a cool ocean breeze, very surprising for Valentine's Day in the northwest. The people working there are very friendly. I saw one person taking orders and the same person taking the meals to the tables. One person was making drinks and another was in the kitchen. I don't complain about waiting times when you see people working hard to get your order out as soon as they can. I would recommend this place to anyone.

My husband, two kids and I were on vacation going up the coast from San Francisco then home to Seattle. We spent one day/night in Newport and was so happy to find the Coffee House for breakfast the day we left. I certainly didn't experience the slow service other folks have talked about, and the food was some of the best breakfast food I've had. I recommend the corned beef hash and the breakfast omelet. The omelet was filled with veggies and cheese. The flavors from the veggies were so delish. Everything tasted so very good. The pancakes are enormous, do not get more than one!!

We spent the weekend in Newport and Nye Beach. Decided to find a breakfast place before heading back to Eugene. We found this non-descrpt little building that looked like they served breakfast. Boy, can they serve breakfast. You find your table, you go up to the counter and order your food and drink, return to your table and wait for the best breakfast one could ever wish for. My wife had the corned beef hash with eggs and I decided on the asparagus, mushrooms, and 3 cheese omelet. Oh my gosh...the flavors were outstanding. The meal was served with red potatoes and your choice of a home made biscuit or wheat toast. I went for the biscuit. The fanciest restaurants in Eugene can't compete with food served ast the Coffee House. Oh and they also serve very good coffee! We did not leave hungry and in fact we probably will order one breakfast and split the meal.....it's ebarassing to waddle out of a restaurant, even if you are a Duck fan. We look forward to visiting Newport and our new breakfast spot! We both highly recommend this restaurant to any one looking for a great place to have a cup of coffee and visit or a hearty breakfast.

Wow, we were not expecting such good food from such a tiny little cafe but what we got was SO GOOD I'm still dreaming about those muffins we had, the little apple coblers I ate both mornings, the excellence of the fried red potaotes that were PERFECT, not greasy, the fluffy omlets that were packed full of the freshest veggies and cheese. This food is seriously dank and tasty, simple and wholesome, just really really good. We tried it based on reviews and were not sorry both days. Also the server with the aussie? accent is one of the nicest I have ever met in my life. You can feel sweetness just radiating from this person and it truly is an experience being served by someone like that because a lot of places don't really care about service anymore but it really does count! Also wonderful coffee they make fresh by the cup the old fashioned way and did I mention the apple cobblers made fresh daily? For 3 dollars and under the cobbler is heavy and will fill you up. Hats off to whoever runs this place, we wish we had breakfasts and service like this where we live! Our 2 best breakfasts ever in newport are here and La Maison bakery and cafe. Both are so good we can't decide : D

While visiting from California we decided to take a ride to beautiful Newport. We stopped at The Coffee House for breakfast. Cool little spot. I am giving the place 5 stars for their food alone. The service was meh...not so great. The wait for our food was really long, but it's ok because the yummy breakfast was worth it. My brother in law and ordered the breakfast sandwich. Great choice because it was AMAZING! Eggs, bacon, thee most incredible cheese all on a Focaccia bread. It is huge so I recommend splitting it with someone. My husband ordered the eggs, potatoes, bacon breakfast with a side of biscuits and gravy. He was pretty satisfied. I will be back and I will make sure to come here again.

Our first choice was closed so we tried things here. Crowded with tired, on-the-edge of grumpy tourists. That's the energy.., Had a tiny glass of tea (no hope of refill) and some tasteless banana pancakes that were the texture of bagels. Hubs had blueberry. Same story. The banana cakes are served with a 1/2 cu of frozen maple butter. Inedible (1/2 cu?). What about whip cream? $24 for gut bombs. Anyhoo, save this place for the tired tourists and keep walking, riding, or driving.

This place may be great as a local breakfast joint, but as a coffee house... no. Just no. We popped in for a couple of espresso drinks and after a short but reasonable wait, we were served the worst drinks we've had in a very long time. My husband got an iced Americano which ended up not so iced and tasted so weak it was like they served him "essence of coffee." My iced mocha was literally the darkest mocha I had ever had in my life (and not in a good way.) It was also not so iced and had the texture of thin cake mix. Both of us were kind of grossed out and very disappointed with the entire experience.

Best coffee and breakfast by the sea! The omelets are HUGE! And everything is so fresh and just delish. The staff was friendly and helpful with sugestions on what to order and what their favorite dish was. Would recommend to anyone!

Very average. Super long wait, understaffed but the people working were very nice. I was disappointed in the pancake, it was tough. The hazelnut latte was absolutely amazing. My husband loved his corn beef hash. The atmosphere is very quaint. Also the orange juice was great.

It was fantastic! Although there was only a short line, there was a long wait. And the wait was worth it. I'll start with the coffee - 15 minutes to make, but it was smooth and strong! I had the Italian sausage and eggs. The sausage was just spicy enough - with sauce and shaved cheese on top. My husband really enjoyed his ham and cheese omelette. The potatoes were decent. We both had the biscuit - and with jam it was dessert! Great service, kind and polite. A casual dining experience that is worth the wait.

The Coffee House is the worst breakfast I've ever had. The coffee tastes like it was pre-made and microwaved. The service was terrible, I waited 45 minutes for a bacon omelet. DO NOT EAT HERE!

My wife and I go to Lincoln City and Newport every year on vacation. We always make it a point to stop at The Coffee House on the old Newport waterfront. We always get 2 large white chocolate caramel mocha's. In the past years they have always been great, that is why we kept coming back. This year we ordered the mocha's and got 2 cups of weakly flavored water. Dose The Coffee House have new owners? We probably wont be back. We will have to find another place that knows how to make them right.

Still the best - off the charts portions, every cup of coffee is fresh brewed - everything we've experienced is delicious

Like the slowest place ever! 15-20 minutes for a lukewarm bagel! Never again! The coffee was so-so. Servers not so helpful!

Tried for the first time and will definitely be back. The cons: the only 2 drawback we had was the breakfast combo selections. They have all your basics so if you can make your own combo however that can get spendy real quick. The only other negative was if you want water it's a serve yourself and they are little 7oz Dixie cups. The pros!!!! The food was excellent! The coffee is excellent! We ordered small biscuit and gravy w/side of eggs and the Peach & Raspberry crepes w/ side of eggs. The B&G was very good. I am so glad I ordered the small. The Crepes are huge. We could have easily split this plate. If you do not like lots of filling in your crepes then make sure to tell them to half the filling. They were very good. The coffee. The coffee is so good my wife added nothing. 20 years together and I have never seen her drink her coffee black. They serve it in a tall glass mug and it is great!

I feel bad that this place has such a stupid, non-memorable name. I want to shake it and say, "you're too humble! Don't you want anyone to know how great you are? You're so good! [pinching cheeks] You're so good!" Crab florentine was filled with luscious, succulent dungie meat. We could hear 10,000 "urp urps!" from the docks. Biscuits and gravy was passable good, a rare oddity! Meat pasty was fresh, warm, like a belly blanket. And the coffee! The coffee was the freshest I've had anywhere on the coast! This is my new favorite coastal breakfast. On warm, sunny days the porch fills with light and you can see the seals and the bay brridghe. On rainy days...well, pretty much the same thing. Come here. Love it.

Overlooks the boats at the bay, there is an outdoor sun room deck to eat or you can sit indoors. They have mimosas! A full coffee menu, and delicious food! We will be back. Worth the stop and the staff are very sweet.

This place was fantastic and the service was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I stopped by in the morning for a coffee and watched as amazing breakfasts were being served and decided to return for lunch. I ordered the fish and chips made fresh from fish off the docks and my son had a wild mushroom omelette. Lots of food, fresh and delicious! We were VERY satisifed with every aspect of this cafe. I find it funny that people complain about having to wait their turn. This is a busy cafe in the heart of a tourist area, of course you're going to have a wait. Complaint about sitting by the bathrooms? It's a seat yourself cafe, choose somewhere else to sit. Food is just as good as Dennys? You're crazy. You must like frozen, cheap crap. This is all fresh and delicious. Keep going to Dennys while the rest of us enjoy real food.

LOVED this place! We were looking for a late breakfast and came across this wonderful local eatery, I'm so glad we stopped. The line took a little bit, but it gave us a chance to check out all the options they have posted up on the walls and all the pastries in the case (lots of omelet selections!). Huge portions, yummy food, pastries and coffee. The owner was sweet, and was going around to each table cleaning up and talking with customers. We will be back.

Honestly took 45+ minutes to get our food... and after our long ass wait, the food is lukewarm and not to.mention I could get better food at dennys. Won't be eating at this place again! #teamdennys

Waiting a half hour for a latte is really unacceptable. This is on a Monday morning no less. The crew is woefully understaffed and the method of filling orders inefficient.

Do NOT order espresso drinks from this place! They don't care, and you have to if you are making a cappuccino! After waiting 15 minutes, I watched them try and re-froth hot milk to complete our order. When done, I refused to accept them. They were horrid. This place should be called "Not a Coffeehouse". I walked down the block to Surf Town Coffee and the barista there was amazing! Go there instead!!

Not impressed with the food. My husband and I both ordered the veggie hash - it was just a plate of plain steamed veggies with some plain potatoes underneath. Apparently they don't believe in seasoning or salt. The eggs were plain as well. Definitely wouldn't qualify as a "hash" maybe a salad... Overall the service was good, nice people, pot of tea was good, and portion sizes are gigantic but quality is subpar. The couple next to us left their entire sandwich so I'm assuming that wasn't good either. Won't be back.

We were so happy to find this cute bfast place on the harbor while traveling up the Oregon coast. They have good gluten free choices for my daughter with allergies. The food was fresh and delicious with local ingredients. My crab florentine was fabulous. The crepes were huge with 6 kinds of fruit. Loved that it's in the historic waterfront area so we could walk around after bfast

The pancakes had the dimensions of truck tires and the omelettes looked to weigh in at at least five pounds. Nearly all of the customers were equally jumbo-sized and appeared to be blissfully enjoying these crazy portions. Service was friendly but incredibly slow. It took 45 minutes to get a very run-of-the-mill breakfast sandwich which, when it finally arrived, was large enough to feed a family of four. If you have a serious eating disorder and plenty of spare time, this may be the ideal place for you.

Waited 45 minutes for a breakfast sandwich on cold, old bread with cheese that wasn't even melted and a cold egg. Servers seemed confused and unable to do basic serving tasks, like retrieve a to go box.

Delicious food, generous servings, view of the historic bay front, super friendly staff. I had the wild mushroom omelette with home fries and a homemade biscuit. Divine! A great latte, too. 3 egg omelette with fresh ingredients and 2 sides- $7.95-$12.95. Medium latte $3.25 SMALL SEATING AREA. On a weekend morning or warm summer day, be patient.

Good food. Cute, clean place right on Bay Blvd overlooking Newport Bay and the ships, etc. A lot of locals eat here, that tells you something. You order at the counter then seat yourself and they bring you the food. Lots of choices, lots of yummy looking baked goods in a case. Young guy at the counter - exceptional service, very friendly but not overly. I had an omelet (huge!) with mushrooms, asparagus & cheese that came with potatoes and a monstrous slab of bakery wheat bread - all very tasty. The omelet had what I think was a roasted red pepper cream sauce on it - yummo. Definitely recommend and will go back!

Holy crap this place is awesome! You must try this place! So many good things to hit with this wonderful place. We were lucky and had a group of 6 good friends and my kids. Which means we got to try a lot off the menu. We tried the raspberry peach créps, sweet and creamy. Crab cake florentine, wow, super fresh crab cakes on fresh spinach. You should try these if you like crab cakes. Cornbeef hash. Super tender, fell apart on the fork, not super fatty. Fresh potatoes. Fresh caught cod fish and chips. Awesome! BLT on homemade focaccia bread. Wow. Talk about perfect! There was also fresh made Italian sodas! Even the garlic bread my daughter got which was made with the focaccia. Tasty! Killer fresh biscuits for biscuits and gravy. Seriously, the place may be small but worth every minute. Fantastic staff. We WILL return! Can't wait!

Cute little place, with delicious food and great atmosphere! We randomly picked this stop based on yelp reviews and we were extremely pleased with our choice. The food was amazing, be prepared to eat a lot cause they don't go light on the portions. Service was excellent as well. Highly recommend it!

I ordered an iced mocha, very tan, and frankly I can make one better at home. The espresso was just ok, and in spite of asking for not a lot of chocolate, there was still too much chocolate. It had a strange, dark color that I am not used to in ice mochas. On the other hand, the breakfasts looked and smelled pretty good.

Great pancakes! A small is huge! I also had some poached eggs that were great just the way I ordered them - lightly poached.

This place won my heart and taste buds. We were walking along the Newport water front one misty Monday morning, enjoying all the boats and smells of a harbor, looking for a breakfast house. Everything was pretty sleepy and Yelp was not helping, (unusual but true) so we actually asked a local walking by where to eat. (SHOCK! ask someone that lives here? I wouldn't of thought that one up, all credit goes to my hubby) They suggested we go to "The Coffee House" Oh boy were they right on. When we walked up to it, my hubby got cold feet due to its somewhat shoddy appearance, but I grabbed his arm and muscled him in. We were surprised by the fact there were two guys running the place, one front house and one back. Even so, they were working like a well oiled machine. He took our order, we sat down at a little table with a view of the boats and got served an incredible breakfast in no time. I had the fresh crab omelet with steamed asparagus and a dill cream sauce and Parmesan cheese. OUT OF THIS WORLD! Hubby got the last order of razor clams and eggs. OUT OF THIS WORLD! Both plates were served with biscuits and potatoes that I bet were good but I was too busy with that omelet to let you know. I will dream of that omelet on days when I need a good food thought. Wish I lived any where near that place and I would try everything!

I love this place. Great coffee (try the house coffee if you like coffee, try something else if you like cream and sugar disguised as coffee), huge meals that are fresh, delicious, and well worth any wait. Both times we've been here, we've had to eat outside, but who's complaining? You're at the coast, and the harbor is right across the street. Even the small buttermilk pancake is bigger than my daughter's head (and presumably more delicious, but again, I wouldn't know, I'm a father, not an ogre), and is delicious. The Italian sausage, biscuit, egg, and potatoes breakfast is outstanding. These people know how to make biscuits and cook sausage. Great service considering how overwhelmed this place gets. Highly recommended.

Nice place to get breakfast in Newport, OR. They're open from 7:00AM to 2:00PM, serving breakfast all day and lunch at 12:00PM. We walked in with a party of 9, but still got in rather quickly and had great service. Would come again for a nice breakfast/lunch in Newport.

Great breakfast. Everything was fresh as can be, including fresh made bread. Drip coffee is made to order as well. Generous portions seem to draw in the local commercial fishermen as well as tourists. Nice location in an old house that looks out on the fishing fleet and the busy seafood processing plant. A good reminder that Newport isn't just a tourist destination. We ate here on a busy Saturday morning and the place was crowded. But the small kitchen kept up with demand and service was good. Strong recommendation

Great omelet, had the special with portabella and spinach with roasted red bell sauce. My husband and I split it, started the breakfast off with splitting a peach turnover, nice and flaky. Would recommend getting a pastry first, since they take care and time with your breakfast the wait can be 20 minutes.
