During the holidays, came twice with my mom and her friends for happy hour. Happy hour is 4-6 and if you don't sit in the bar, you have to ask for the happy hour menu. It's a few bucks off of their appetizers plus deals on well drinks and house wine. The glass of wine is a great deal and both the red and the white were good. The first time we went, we were the first group there on a Friday night. Right at 4pm. About ten of us at a long table right as you walk in. Two guys set up our table and then said they'd be back to take our order. 10-15 minutes later, there were several more tables in the bar and the restaurant and we'd watched as those tables were served drinks, had their orders taken and even received food! Finally, one of our ladies marched up the bar and asked that our order be taken. The bartender had to leave the bar to take our order -- which took a while with that many people. Later, we had a nice guy waiting on us who must have arrived for a later shift but we never figured out what happened in the beginning. At first blush, the appetizers are amazing because the portions are so large. We each ordered one appetizer and passed them around the table and we still didn't finish the food. Walking out the door, however, we noted how sick we felt. Not overly full per se, but not comfortable at all. Most of the appetizers are fried so be careful when making a dinner of happy hour! The clam chowder and Caesar salad are good options, even though not as shareable. The steak bites are a little gross. The potato skins, sliders and shrimp cocktail are good choices. Avoid the onion rings, french fries and go lightly on the tempura beans. The second time I went for happy house, we mixed dinners with happy hour appetizers, ordered less fried stuff and had a wonderful female waiter who took care of our every need. It was all around a better experience. Plus, we were at a round table! It's so much easier to talk to a group at a round table.

This is a Motel, not anything like other shilo inns. When they get booked full they start charging people's cards that at afternoon for the room before they even get to sign in!!!!!! If that card doesn't go through they cancel your reservation and don't call you! The 3 foot deep pool (yes, 3 feet deep across the whole pool) is so dirty you cannot even see the bottom. They have a convention center on first floor for weddings and such, with music so loud no one In the building can get any sleep. People were complaining about the noise and checking out because of it as we signed in. Lumpy old old mattresses in a room 20 years overdu for a remodel. We will never return.

A very Good place to eat. The Staff were Excellent. Krystal was a delight very helpful in my selections. I was offered a special dinner even though there was not a special tonight. I had a Pasta Alfredo with lots of Seafood. Everything from scallops to salmon and clams and shrimp. It was delightful. I had a Granny Smith Apple Cobbler for dessert, it was Fantastic. If your looking for Great Service this is a place to check out.

Service is horrific. We waited 20 minutes for the waitress because she 'didn't see us.' Then she brought us drinks 15 minutes later and said she still hasn't put our appetizer order in. Lord knows how long it will be before we get food, and I'm with 3 hungry kids!! The woman next to us stood by the kitchen door for 10 minutes to ask for dressing and finally had to ask someone in the bar to find her a waiter? The best food on the planet wouldn't make up for this service.

The view from this restaurant is phenomenal! Lots of windows facing the ocean make for a breathtaking atmosphere! The service was great, friendly, and overall very pleasant staff. The clam chowder is AMAZING, and I am not a big chowder eater. Both nights we dined with our 5 and 8 year old. It is very kid friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience.

HELLO ROOM SERVICE? YES ID LIKE ONE OF EVERYTHING, AND MAKE IT SNAPPY! There are several Shilo's with restaurants "attached" to them. This one was good, not great, but good. Wife wasnt impressed (but to be honest, she was VERY tired and wanted to go to bed, at 8pm). We ordered several things both from the kids menu and the adults. Loaded potato skins for an app. The portion was fair, quality on 3 out of 4 was perfect, number 4 was kinda burnt. But they were only $6 so eh, i didnt complain. The kids got chicken fingers for my daughter (seemed like typical frozen fare, it was ok, id have eaten them too ) my son got a cheese burger with bacon. The bacon, was the bits they used for the potato skins, which wasnt a bad idea normally, then you get a decent taste on every bite. However, the burger, was noticeably burnt. Explains why he didnt eat half of it. (i had a bite, trust me, it was charred, NO kid likes the taste of charcoal). My wife got the parmesan crusted sole. The fish was good, still moist, nice flavor. I dig the granny smith apples in the tartar, i might start using that myself. The asparagus was good. The rice pilaf, crunchy. Sorry guys, thats a fail. I was perfectly happy with my linguini with clams in white sauce. VERY tasty, not over cooked rubber clams, fresh, i likes the shallots. I finished myne totally. Overall it was a good meal. Some items seem a bit overpriced, but hey, it was convenient and you will pay for that. I will say, next time, i will make sure everyone has the energy and drive a little ways to check out the other local spots.

Powdered eggs for Mother's Day Brunch! This place has gone down the chute. Powdered eggs(or the exact same taste) soggy bacon and and TVP sausages ruled the day. The entire menu sounded great until unfortunately you saw it. Hot plate heaven at the Shilo. Bad even for buffet. Inedible for the most part and a huge let down in general after a night spent there I'm forced to find that the food matches the decor of the place. Stuck in the '90s and shabby. Maybe the dinner service is better, but I've not much hope.

I ate here with my family for breakfast and we loved it! Their choices were all delicious sounding but we decided on the breakfast burrito, the Gracie's French toast, and the cheese omelette. Each of us loved what we ordered. The service was excellent, with prompt coffee and water refills, smiling faces, and a super efficient experience. The view of the ocean while chowing down on our giant breakfasts was truly a phenomenal experience. A very nice, casual, and relaxed atmosphere but with the views you would expect from an upscale establishment. I would highly recommend it!

Joe was the bartender. My husband and I walked in and he goes "you might as well sit at a table you won't be served any quicker". He was very rude. We sat down... And waited. Joe went to every single table but ours and helped others people and got their drinks...and they were there after us. 25 min later and he finally comes over to us. He wouldn't even check our ID's. He seemed irritated that we had our "free drink" coupon. I am not impressed. Customer service is very important... And joe is lacking! My suggestion is to work on treating guests with respect ... He missed out because we would have ordered more... However due to the we were treated... We will not be spending our money here. We over heard him complaining about how he was by himself... Sorry but 1. They weren't that busy. 2. You still don't need to be disrespectful to your guests 3. Whining out loud will not get you sympathy.

Friendly service. Really friendly. Food is not the best but it's not bad. We stayed at Shilo for three nights and ended up choosing their restaurant or cafe for breakfast or dinner most days so that says something. The breakfast cafe: Eggs Benedict didn't have much flavor. At the restaurant, however, the prime rib was excellent. Their house salad was top notch - topped with walnuts. Very nice

Terrible service. We came here for happy hour today. After reading the reviews, we were anxious to give this place a try during our stay in Newport. We were 2 of 6 people in the bar and the restaurant was empty. It took the server/bartender 15 minutes to come to our table. He brought our drinks promptly, but then never came back. 40 minutes later we went to the bar and tabbed out. We were going to have dinner here. Headed down the street instead. We are here for another week and will not be returning.

We came in from Portland and enjoyed having our pet with us while soaking in the gorgeous views from our room window (if you don't mind the faint room smells from previous guests) Over dinner, we had exceptional service with Hector, our waiter, who really went out of his way to make our dinner experience a delight. Great service is a major component in our ratings and from the minute we walked into the lobby we've been the recipient of so much care and attention. Truly a refreshing weekend!

Pretty unimpressive. Most of the food was fried. Yuck. Drinks took forever to be delivered, and wait staff didn't make an appearance very often in the dining room. Must be busy behind the scenes.

View, food and service was excellent. Hector, our server, went above and beyond to make our experience awesome. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

Took me a while to get around to writing this review, but was so impressed that I haven't forgot about our experience, even 3 months later. Our server, David Garcia, was absolutely amazing in every way. He was attentive, had an incredible personality, and took care of us, even allowing us to do happy hour in the dining room since we were close to the bar and had our kids with us. The clam chowder was amazing and David made a great suggestion to add Cholula to it. This was the first time my son had ever eaten clam chowder and I thought he was in love with it without the sauce in it, but he went crazy on it with it in and he's 8. The view of the ocean and the hotel, as well, were both great. All in all one of the better dining experiences that we still talk about for a coastal town.

Friendly staff but food was just ok for the price. Steak appetizer was very tough. Ordered beer that was never received.

Got a room on Hotwire, pleasantly surprised it had an ocean view. Didn't want to drive any more so had dinner at the Shilo Inn: pineapple glazed prawns, and wild salmon - delicious! OK, the drinks took a while because happy hour was just ending. So bartender gave a very full pour of the Malbec and the lemon drop martini was great and came with the jigger. :) Our waitress, Jessie, was local, friendly, courteous and efficient. Desserts with 'to go' boxes'. How nice. Great view and relaxing end to a long drive from Forks, WA. We'll be back.

We came in with a group of 10 in the last 10 minutes before closing. Out server was Sara, she was really sweet. Not at anytime did we feel rushed or like we bothered her. The best part about Shilo Inn and the restaurants is their staff. They were the best. Now.the decor wasn't exciting. The food in general was ok. The pancakes were HUGE!! My picky eater loves the French toast. I ordered a breakfast burrito, but it wasn't made the way I asked and they had ran out of if one of the ingredients so I refused to eat it. I paid for it anyway since Sara didnt cook it and I didnt want to look like a huge jerk in front of my family. Also we had drink and food discounts that didnt get applied properly to my portion bill. So if you want convenient friendly service while staying at Shilo, this is an option. Seriously ALL of the staff were awesome!

It was a very stormy evening that included pelting rain that soaked you as soon as you stepped out in it. There was thunder and lightning galore so needless to say, my husband and I didn't exactly want to go too far to find a little something to eat. We had been given a discount card for both dinner and drinks so may as well! We walk in right before another group arrives. As we wait in line, a hostess walks right past us and to the group behind us, asking how to help them. We had been completely ignored. We stood there for a little while, hoping per chance she may have just gotten confused. But she ignored us again. There were hardly any seats filled, and since we hadn't been seated, we thought to sit ourselves in the bar. We sat down but received no service. I got up after some time and approached a waiter. I asked for help, but he pretended that he didn't even hear me. I turned and faced him again and spoke louder. "Excuse me?" He couldn't ignore me then, so he grudgingly acknowledged my presence. I managed to get a couple menus from him and sat back down to look it over. I was dearly hoping that I was wrong, but the staff did not want to serve us, it was clear. The bartender came out when the waiter that previously ignored me called her out. But when we weren't quite ready to order, she scurried away, not waiting to answer any questions or help us. Several times afterwards, we waited for her to come back to answer just any newer few questions. But each time she walked past us, and turned away, ignoring us. My husband and I do our best to a justify staff actions, but it was clear there was nothing to justify their treatment of us. We left before making any orders.

We stayed at the Shilo Inn in Newport, Or last night, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was very clean. The beds were also very comfortable! I would definitely recommend this motel to friend's.

We just got appetizers and a couple of drinks because it was too cold to walk on the beach and we wanted to enjoy that awesome view. We'd intended on going to dinner later but just kept ordering more appetizers and never did go elsewhere for dinner. We had such a fun and didn't feel like the stressed-out, responsible, always working couple that we are. We really felt that this special date was restorative to us. We may look into having my in-law's 50th anniversary party catered there. The server said the catering staff was awesome so we will look into that.

Tried the happy hour menu. Deep fried green beans were tasteless, burger was terrible, service was mediocre. Best to skip it and try another place, not worth it.

The burger is amazing! I know, that isn't why you normally go to an ocean side restaurant, but I almost went in back for tips on the caramelized onions! We also had the chowder, which was good, not great, but I'm a chowder snob. It was good. The view...wonderful!

Went for breakfast. Food was average and the service was terrible. There weren't even many other customers at the time we were there. Decent amount of food, but not worth the time or money.

We stayed at the Shilo Inn Suites on Dec. 28th and decided to give the restaurant a try because they offered us a free drink and the menu looked promising. From the time we walked in, we felt like we were on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The host was awkward, and even though there were only 4 other tables in the restaurant he made it sound like our server was crazy busy and would do her best to get to us eventually. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for the appetizer. It had a hard coated layer of cheese over the top that the chip could not penetrate. I had to use my knife to pull back the layer of cheese so we could eat the dip. This left about 1/2 a bowl. The flavor of the dip was decent; however, the chips were very salty and required me to brush off the salt prior to eating them. My husband is one who adds salt to everything - and he was even brushing off the salt. The server took away the dip when we asked her for fresh chips and told her we were unhappy. We split a bowl of clam chowder, which was good. I have had better - but I have had much worse and was pretty hungry after the appetizer fail so we gladly ate all of the chowder. The meal was also a disappointment. I had a pasta and my husband had a steak. We ate about 2 bites each and decided to leave. Props to the server though ... she asked the tough question! She could tell we were unhappy and instead of ignoring it - she observed that we did not like the food and when she dropped off the check, we were only charged for our soup and drinks. We went to our room and ordered pizza for dinner. My overall impression of the restaurant is that the staff is slow (10 minutes to get a drink!) and slightly awkward. The restaurant gives the impression of fine dining with a beautiful view - but the food reminds me of cheap, bland bar food. It does not seem that the chef takes pride in his dishes, or the staff takes much pride in working there.

I had a great dinner here when I stayed at the Shilo Inn over the New Year's weekend as part of the Groupon special. They had a Prime Rib dinner for $16.95 that was very good with a baked potato and vegetables. You also get a free glass of wine or beer when you show your room key, a nice perk. I really enjoyed the Tiramisu that I had for dessert too. The service was good and I had no complaints. I will definitely have dinner here again when I stay at the Shilo Inn.

We had a new waitress who was friendly and helpful but there was hardly anybody in the restaurant and it took awhile before we were helped. The happy hour menu was alright but the food was way deep fried and I kept belching it all night. Lesson learned: don't order fried food.

This restaurant serves the usual hotel restaurant dinners at the usual hotel restaurant prices (seafood fettuccine $22, grilled salmon $26, rib eye steak $33). The view's amazing here and has certainly kept them in business for decades. The food we tried was pretty good, and the plates traveling past us looked even better. The service was friendly but noticeably delayed. You might expect to wait to be greeted by your server, you might expect to wait too long for your bill. It's frustrating. Here's a secret: the little menu that tells you the happy hour specials is in effect all hours they're open until Memorial Day. So you can drop yourself down at the bar at 7 o'clock and order some totally delicious fried green beans for $3 and a couple of totally yummy mojitos for $4 a pop. It's a nice experience.

When we walked in there was no one there to greet us. When someone finally came to seat us, they were trying to figure out where to put us for a party as large as ours (10), Ha!. The restaurant was nearly empty. They sat us at two different tables. The server may have been a rookie. She came back to our table twice to ask me once who else was on my ticket and what kind of toast I said I wanted. The food came out a little off timing and the server again came to me and tried to explain that there was only one cook back there and she apologized for the delay of my food. I told her I understood but a friend next to me was not as understanding because she was half way done with her meal. Out of courtesy she didn't say anything directly to her-again, we thought she was a rookie. My omelet came out hot and average. Nothing really exceptional about it. We did have to ask for more water and coffee but ehhh. Well in their defense. She was probably the waitress that grabbed the short straw because when we got outside and I read their reader board overhead, they were about to close 15 minutes before we walked in. Cook probably had to fire up his clean grill and omelet pans. Oops. I am willing to give them an average score seeing as no one even mentioned that they were about to close when we walked in.

Couldn't believe 16.95. For breakfast Buffett that was sub standard, barely warm food, and the coffee was extra. What a rip. won't make that mistake again, although our server was very apologetic and very polite

6 hour happy hour. Nice HH menu too. We got the tempura green beans and they were fantastic. We also got free beers just by showing our room keys.

Not a place to eat. Ordered the seared pork chop...said no mushroom sauce. After waiting 20 minutes...it came with sauce...no mushrooms... The waiter said he thought he would just not add the mushrooms... Sent it back....lame service. Do not recommend. Oh and my wife says her food tasted like crap...mushy shrimp over cold rice....

Eggs Benedict was runny and not even worth eating. Service was fine....
