This was good. Not excellent. Our order got messed up, but they corrected it without too much fuss.

This is my favorite Chinese food I've ever had! From the amazing egg flower soup to their egg foo young, chow mein, and crab wontons all soo good and no MSG!! The veggies are fresh and crisp tasting and the service is great.

Have eaten there a couple times and it was good. Tonight was amazing. My mouth is pleasantly on fire. The pepper shrimp was fantastic - the bite at the end is what makes it perfect. The special chow fun friend rice is amazing, had them kick up the heat and my taste buds sang. The general Tsaos was kicked up three notches and it tipped the meal into perfection. Everything was cooked just right, was tender, flavorful and the flavors mixed perfect. Best Chinese I have had outside of china.

Portions are the largest I've EVER seen. We ordered the dinner special ($11 each). Both of us were able to eat (overeat I should say--so stuffed!) and we still had enough for each of us to eat TWO more times. Food came out very fast and we thought the prices were reasonable. The size of the portions make their pricing VERY reasonable. Will definitely eat here again!

Food is 5 stars really!! Everything was great. BUT......The place is so dirty it about made me ill. No one has vacuumed the corner of the floor for years. Walls, bathrooms disgusting. Great portions of fresh food!!

Best hot & sour soup ever. Happy Family is a sort of hang-out for me and my family, so we have discovered certain menu items that are quite tasty to us. I rotate what I order as a main dish, but it always involves either a small or large bowl of hot & sour soup -- it's the best I've ever had -- savory broth with good kick to it. Quite often I will just get an order of spring rolls and a big bowl of soup. My other favorite dish is the combination lo mein -- shrimp, bbq pork, chicken, cabbage, and various other veggies; all mixed together with lo mein noodles and stir fried. I add Sriracha to make my taste buds really happy. One of the better restaurants in Molalla, and the recent interior updates (tables, chairs, etc.) were a much needed improvement. I don't know how "authentic" the food is, but it tastes good to me, so I'll give it 4 stars.

Pretty dang good. Especially for the price. My wife and kid always share a combo plate but I like to stray from the combos. My favorite thing there is Sizzling Wor Ba. Scallops, Beef, Pork, Chicken and fresh veggies covered in just the right amount of duck sauce on a 200 degree skillet sizzling away. Sizzling Happy Family is also one of my faves. Honestly, I'm not a fan of the combos, I honestly don't like fried fake American Chinese food. The place is very chintzy and the clientele is questionable, but it's Molalla so..... that goes without saying. Service is good, prices are fair and it's overall a good experience.... for Molalla.

Functional, albeit wholly inauthentic Chinese food. Avoid anything fried, the pot stickers were undercooked and most other fried dishes followed suit. The main dishes have good flavor, but are scant on meat and in some cases use fried noodles that must surely have come from a can. Service was pleasant and attentive for my rather large party, a definite plus. It is nice that they have a small upstairs banquet room suitable for parties such as mine. Perhaps the best dish of the evening was the hot and sour soup, which was extremely delicious and had just enough heat. Overall, not bad but far from top-notch. A good place to go if you have a large party and no other place to go.

If you somehow end up in Molalla, Oregon (which you should pray never happens) you may at least be assured you can find some decent Chinese food here (with burgers and steaks for the kids and hardcore rednecks in the family, er, crowd). There's also a lounge in the basement for when the next generation is about to be exterminated if they shriek ONE. MORE. TIME. Ahem. I had the lo mein, it was really good. I thought I tasted five spice in it, which is a seasoning I've had a hard time working with. Everyone else got one of the numbered combos which were what you would expect. I didn't hear any complaints. The service was a bit sketchy, which might explain why there was much more to go business than dine-in.

Happy Family makes Panda Express look like a 4 star restaurant.I am shocked to read that this place has such a good rating. It is by far some of the worst Chinese food of my life. I usually give my left overs to homeless people, but this food after a couple bites went straight into a to go box to go into the trash. Anyone receiving this would just be offended. I ordered the chow mein. It was the most palatable item there, probably. The vegetables were minimal and it was very greasy. One of the people I was with ordered teriyaki chicken. It tasted like it just came out of the microwave and was like chewing rubber. He ate one piece and didn't touch the rest. As for my other friend, he ordered sweet and sour chicken. When it came to the table it was about 15 pieces of heavily fried chicken with a sweet and sour dip. No vegetables. He couldn't stomach it either. We came here to try it out, but previous yelp reviewers steered us in the completely wrong direction. I was surprised we didn't get food poisoning. Just like most restaurants in Molalla (except El Charrito) it failed us. On a positive note, the customer service was great. However, the food was awful and I really wish I could get my money back. Sorry Happy Family!

This place has some of the best Chinese I've had - and being a Los Angeles resident, I've been to a ton of different places. I highly recommend the honey walnut shrimp, sizzling rice soup, and crab/cream cheese wontons to name a few. I have dined in and ordered out, and they are always so sweet, so maybe the previous reviewer was there on an off day.

The food is great as well as the service. We eat dinner here while visiting relatives and am consistently pleased with this restaurant. We even had our daughters first birthday party with about 25 quests and they were very accommodating.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
