I have been here a few times for drinks with friends. Drinks are good but food is awful! Service is not good at all, there's one lady in particular that has been rude and snobby every time I have come in. Very small feeling. I figured I'd give it one more try with my husband and when we got there there was one table open and I approached the waitress and told her how many were in my party. She made it seem like she wanted us to follow her to be seated in the back area but I guess she was just looking to see if there was an open table. Then she came back to me and asked again how many. I retold her and she looked around some more before telling me it would be a few minutes even though there was an empty table. There's no waiting area and anywhere u stand u feel like u are rubbing elbows with somebody. I suggest San blas to any one eating good service, decent food and a warmer atmosphere.

Went here for dinner with a friend and his family and my girlfriend. It was Mexican food. Not much else to say about it. It came out hot, and there was plenty of it, with decent prices. I've had better, but I've had far worse. My new go-to is Chile Colorado burrito. Here, that option is two smaller burritos. They were pretty decent. The place is somewhat small, but well laid out, and the service was pretty on top of things, even with three small children doing their best to destroy the table. All in all, not a bad option for Molalla. But not something I would drive out of my way to go to.

Best Mexican food in Molalla, OR for sure. I love the waiter there, and he'd always take good care of my family and I when we'd go here once a week or so. Also, fantastic, POWERFUL drinks. I'd recommend one called The Electric Watermelon on their menu. It makes my knees weak. So, I was saddened when my family and I moved to Silverton about 15 miles away. No more El Charrito, I told myself in a cloud of depression. So we went out here to a place called El Toro downtown. A few minutes inside I see a familiar face. Wait, it can't be the waiter from El Charrito, can it? No, but looks similar. Then I notice the menu and food is the same. So I ask the guy, and find out that YESSSS, it's his brother, and El Toro is El Charrito's sister restaurant!!!!! Same food, same hospitality via the same wonderful Mexican family. Case in point: Eat at El Charrito....or El Toro when in Silverton.

We give this restaurant a five rating both for the food and for the margaritas. We have been customers since the opening week and have found this family-run establishment to be excellent. They are always customer friendly, the restaurant is clean, and we have never had any complaints. We have been fortunate to have Mexican food all over the U.S., the World, including Mexico and can say without a doubt this is authentic Mexican food and some of the best we have ever had. Thank you to El Charito.

I love this place it has the best Mexican food in town. I have had a few quality control issues with food but they have always been more then fair on working out the problems.

Worst food I have ever had. Ordered the seafood crab burrito and the seafood wasn't good and smelled bad. Didn't eat it.

All I have to say is I would drive 2 hours just to have El Charrito. Ev-er-y-thing is good. The mole is superb, The Arroz con Cammarones, (rice and shrimp) will make you keep eating every little morsel until you feel like you going to explode. The wait staff is super friendly. Service is prompt and attentive. The margaritas are awesome, there are so many ways they can make them. All of this comes at a very reasonable price and very generous portions. 5 stars.... that's the only 5 star rating I will ever give out. EVAR!

This is the second time I've been here and once again I am very disappointed. The food reminds me of dog food; the refried beans here are nothing but liquid, the burittos are pathetic and paper thin. The margarita I had is supposed to be blended and it came out half way blended. The tamale I just ordered is broken and looks like someone vomited on my plate. Don't eat here if you are a food snob.

We have been to El Charrito on two occasions recently, and both have been positive experiences. The service is competent and definitely adequate, but can be a little curt and unfriendly at times. The chips are standard Mexican restaurant fare, and the salsa has a nice kick to it, with good flavor. We like the fact that they also bring beans for our kids to dip their chips in. On our first visit, I went with the Carne Asada dinner plate, and it was outstanding -- the best carne asada I've had at a gringo-ized Mexican restaurant. The beef was perfectly charred on the exterior, yet was still tender and flavorful. The roasted jalapeno they included with the dish was a very nice touch -- I loved that! For yesterday's visit, I went with the lunch Chimichanga, and wasn't very impressed. The picadillo (shredded beef) was decently flavored, and the chimi's shell had a nice crunch to it, but they just overdid it with the gringo iceberg lettuce and sour cream -- it made for kind of a limp, soggy mess. I don't think I will be ordering that one again. I think the restaurant is great overall, but the lack of friendly service, and the over-use of gringo-friendly condiments makes it so I can only give 4 stars.

Another great find for great Mexican food at a reasonable price. Everything from the Chili Relleno combo lunch to the chips and salsa were one of the best finds in this area yet, although a little far from home. Just happened to be in the area at lunch time but will return here when passing through.

I've been going here for at least 15 yrs and love it. I grew up doing here with my mom and brother when dad was out of town. The chimicungas and salad and chips are great. I love their beans and rice. Everything has great flavor and spice and all for a great price.

Really good Mexican from a really nice family. The family runs and owns it.the margaritas are amazing and the chips and salsa are waaaayyyy better than San blas. Always super nice when we come in. They have lots of items on their menu and just overall a really good Mexican joint with real Mexican food. Only gripe are the bathrooms they are really old they aren't dirty they just aren't nice.

Really great Mexican food. Honestly takes me back to Mexico. True Mexican food. I have it a 4 because the parking sucks, but everything else was pretty good.

As a San Francisco native who by freak accident ended up living in Molalla, I had much trouble satisfying my food needs. Pretty much all restaurants in Molalla are sketchy and poor quality, except for El Charrito. Growing up in the bay area I was spoiled with Mexican Food. Although El Charrito may be as authentic as Chevy's Tex Mex, I never leave disappointed and am always overly full. I take all of my family and friends that visit me here, and all of the out-of-towners love it. El Charrito gives you huge tasty portions for reasonable prices. Being a vegetarian, I also always find that I can tweak the menu to my needs as they are fairly flexible. You get an endless bucket of their restaurant made chips (which are so addicting, NEVER stale) and salsa and bean dip to accompany. Although I assume that the beans do have lard in them, it only makes it more appetizing and is added for flavor ( I hate to admit, but i've tried them once, and the beans are SOOOO GOOD). Our favorites include the fajita burrito (chicken or vegetarian), the quesadillas, vegetarian burrito, enchiladas, fajita salad, and margaritas which are oftly strong. As for the decorations, they are only intended to make the place feel more like a fiesta. Also, the service is fantastic. This is part of the reason why el charrito has 5 stars. I have never had an order "messed up". They are always watching your table to see if you need more beans, chips or water (I don't think this should be used against them). I have NEVER had to ask for anything, they are always so observant. They are on top of EVERYTHING! They are friendly and know us by face. I always feel good supporting this restaurant AND eating their food. Overall, lots of food for the price and very tasty. Good customer service and the ONLY restaurant in town that I trust and frequent. Check it out!

One might think finding good Mexican food in a small town like Molalla would be like finding silver in a gold mine. But it can happen here. I've been here twice now and have enjoyed each visit. Chimichanga...great! Nachos... very good! Pitcher of ritas...yes please! My last visit was this past Monday. It was slow. The servers seemed like they would fall asleep at any time. Then, in the back dining room, a clamor of noise and 4 workers started singing happy birthday. But it was nearly in slow motion. Did we interrupt siesta? Were we in some new dimention? It was hilarious! Sweet, but hilarious! We wished it were our birthday so we could hear them do it again! Love the little plate of beans with chips! Great salsa. Nice atmosphere. Keep it up, guys!

Great food! Love this place! Amazing Cadillac Margaritas, be careful as they are strong! Owners are always there, they care about their customers. I visit Molalla area about 4 times a year and eat here every visit. Customer service is top notch. Decor is cheesy (kind of creepy) but clean and fun. The food isn't the best Mexican I've ever had, but its darn good. The Salsa has too many onions, but the salsa itself s good, just dodge the onions. The mexican pizza is my husbands favorite, I like the tacos and enchiladas. The beef is well marinated. I'm a food snob and an even more so a Mexican food snob. (Boo - Chilis or any other Mex chain, they all suck.) The decor is "funky" , granted, but its run by a family for families. One of the owners is there all times they are open, a lot of concern. Chips, salsa and beans are always on the table, they don't let you run out. Family owned and operated, one of the owners is always there and available.

Best Mexican food in town! I have eaten here for as long as I can remember. The service is wonderful, and they are very attentive. You will never run out of water or chips and salsa. They are on top of it. Even when it's really busy! Their Carne Asada is seasoned nicely and very tasty. Their salsa is fresh and quite spicy, so add the beans to it if you're sensitive. I've tried the other places is town, but this place is my favorite! And their prices are really reasonable. Don't forget to try a Rosarita margarita.

The dining choices in Molalla are very limited by most standards. One night we decided to check out the local Mexican fare. The menu, decor, and waitstaff are fairly standard for a run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Well, besides the unique and somewhat creepy art. Margaritas are large and in charge and if you have more than one you just might be brave enough to try the oddly white looking refried beans. Never seen anything like it before. The beans could be a new GM hybrid or maybe just so laden with lard that they take on a whitish hue. I wasn't so brave. I tried the deluxe nachos and chicken enchiladas and everything tasted downright stale, even the salsa and chips. Salsa and chips free btw, at least they got that right. Anyway there is something very odd about this place. Something creepy about it that reminds me of an Xfiles episode from long ago. Call me crazy but something in the milk ain't clean. If you find yourself in Molalla, try one of the other four restaurants in town.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
