The remodel also seams to have rejuvenated the staff. My last five or six visits have been a marked improvement over six months ago. Enough so that I thought a review was in order. Yay to the GM for getting her staff behind her. I've seen her sending food back from the window because it wasn't up to standard. Way to go.

My brother and I came here yesterday for lunch. Ronn was our server. I had a steak salad which was amazing their steak is great! Cooked the way I ordered it and perfectly seasoned, and the lettuce is always fresh. My brother just got a basket of fries but they came out arranged nicely in the basket like the cook took the time to stack them neatly, and the presentation of my salad was beautiful I was so surprised! Sharies in grants pass does not compare at all to the Medford location. Whoever is managing the Medford location is doing a fantastic job! It is rare that I leave a restaurant especially in Medford and am happier then when I arrived. Ronn made our visit very enjoyable. He was very attentive but not bothersome in the least. I wish he was our server everywhere we went out. By far the best service I have had in years! This is not the first time I have had a good experience here!!!

Welp, both my wife and I got really sick here last time we went, so that's it -- no more Shari's for us. Somehow we ended up getting horribly upset stomachs AND a chest cold that took a few weeks to shake. The upset-stomach thing has happened before but not at this level. Taco Bell is actually a safer option for late-night food, scarily enough.

First things first: the food was pretty darn good, contrary to previous reviews. Not everything was fantastic, but my husband's burger sure was! He had the Bavarian burger, it was excellent! My quiche was pretty good (veggie), the split pea soup was decent. Everything arrived nice and hot, nothing was cold. The service was pretty slow, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. After we were seated and had drinks, it was at least 20 minutes before our waitress got over to us, although she did seem like she had had a long day, she seemed tired, and it was a little busy for a Tuesday evening. I'm forgiving with food service, since I've been there. Overall, we liked it and will return.

I was on a long motorcycle trip with some obnoxious bikers and we were staying at the Comfort Inn across the street. We were hungry after our long ride so we rode all the way over to Shari's Cafe. The servers put up with all of our crass remarks and loud laughter. We played a game where we tried to guess the server's names without reading their name tags. We got two right. The one I got right reminded me of Darlene from that old show, Roseanne. Not because of how she looked, but rather her dry no-nonsense attitude. Her name was not Darlene. Then the food came and we ate it then did wheelies in the parking lot.

Sometimes there are very good waitresses and sometimes you get the few crappy ones. I really like the food except the steaks. If you want a really good steak, go somewhere else. It's either over done or coming out mooing at you.

In several visits to this Shari's I have experienced poor service, rude ataff and only moderately tolerable food. I would not recommend this restaurant.

The food at Shari's is great, the customer service is more of a hit and miss subject.

HORRIBLE. NOT SURE HOW TO MAKE THIS CLEARER. Waited 10 minutes to have a drink order then 30 minutes for food. But wait, it was the wrong food. Didn't have time to wait for them to get it right. Approached the manager and he made excuses, "we have been overwhelmed all day". DESPITE being "overwhelmed" they continued to seat people..... Manager finally came over and said "I'm going to comp your meal" but then the waitress came over and tried to drop off a check for us to pay. GOD WHAT A NIGHTMARE.

Horrible! Turn away, don't be mislead by the fact that in other states their. Service tends to be fair or good. Not this One!!! I ordered a simple omelette with avocado and no avocado was served...the manager who should not be in a manager position, was full of excuses..."Overwhelmed" Manager 101, you should never make excuses! Took 10 minutes for the waitress to come around for drinks, another 5 minutes to serve them. 30 additional minutes to get our food. The table behind us who came after us got their food before us. Ironically, this place due to great location (off the I-5) is not lacking visibility but falls short on service & the cook needs to read the orders to ensure all food is serve as requested.

Horrible all around. Terrible food and service. The food we received was cold and the waiter forgot part of our food. Don't waste your money here.

I had a HUGE moth in my salad here. And by huge, I mean monarch-butterfly-sized black evil looking monster. Then, we showed the waitress and, no joke, waited at least 30 minutes for the manager to come apologize to us. I will NEVER ever eat at one of these establishments again!

If you go past 9pm and get a girl named Joanna, get ready to sit there for 45 mins waiting on a burger and iced tea. And forget about wanting a refill.! Worst customer service I have ever seen!

  • Laura N.

The food is OK i guess...nothing special but not too bad for the prices. Our server was terrible. First of all, she took two other table's order before ours even though they got there about five-ten minutes after us and we had clearly been ready to order. I over-heard the table behind us complaining about something wrong with their order and she said "sorry about that, i hate when (name) is the cook, he is always burning something or getting an order wrong" I was shocked, even if it's true, how inappropriate and unprofessional! I ordered my bacon crispy, it came out under-cooked. She stood around chit-chatting very loudly with some customers that she knew. Just over-all bad service and blah food. Probably won't eat here again.

The dinners have not improved. Breakfast is Shari's best meal and the pies are very good.

My oh my god! This was awful! My son and brother ordered a vanilla shake. My other brother ordered a cherry. The vanilla was fine. Nice and full. The two vanillas was one shake split between the two. I ordered a sirloin steak. The wanted to know how I wanted it cooked. "Medium rare." What a joke! It could have been the front sole of my boat shoe - 1/4" thick and 3 x 4". You couldn't have cooked it other than anything other than well. And tough? My dad would say: "Look, you can see the marks where the jockey was whipping it." I ordered the house Cabernet and the waitress said "Ok white then . . ." Run away!!!

I would not give this place a star do to the fact that they could not get the food done right not once but twice and they just can't cook. I will never go back.

  • Liz R.

The reason this restaurant is getting 5 stars is because of the waitress we had. She bent over backwards to make sure everything was perfect. We purchased some of the BBQ sauce that they were selling, and she made sure it was wrapped up and protected for the long journey home. She put our desserts into containers and separated the cobbler from the ice cream so it wasn't horribly soggy and cold. She was absolutely amazing, and I wish I remembered her name. The food was pretty good, but the service is what killed it. :)

No. My sister and I hit this place up last night after a "night on the town" (yeah right, Medford lol), and our waiter not only took forever bringing us our food, which was nothing but mozzarella sticks and fries, but literally threw it on our table, turned around and took off with not another word, and never came back again. Ever. Not even to bring our check. Not to refill our water. Nada. That, people, is what is known as BULLSH*T. I'm not saying I expect stellar service from a 24-hour joint in Medford, but you know what? I should. People should take pride in what they do, or just don't do it. Maybe we didn't have a huge check, but if you want to think of our patronage as so unimportant and unworthy of even common courtesy, then give us the food for free...you know, since it's such a nonissue. I'll probably go back at some point (Read: After a night of beer and dancing), but if he's the waiter they try to stick us with, I'll definitely walk right back out the door, go home, and make myself a bowl of cereal. I'd rather do that than ever have to deal with that crap again. Totally unacceptable. The food itself was okay. Standard, pedestrian, whatever. Come on, it's conveyor-belt, reheated fat and sugar. Let's not aim too high, here lol. I do like the fries, though. **Disclaimer: For those of you tsk-tsking, we ALWAYS have a designated driver and you should, too. Just an FYI.

Went to dinner to try out Shari's, my husband had never been. Ordered the pot roast, asked if I could have a baked potato with it and was told no. That was fine, but when it arrived it looked nothing like the photo, and NOT appetizing, and cold, not just cool but cold. I alerted our waiter who sent over the manager who kind of huffily said do want a baked potato? I said I'm fine with mashed but this whole thing is cold. They took it away, returned it hot, but had messed with the hard barely cooked vegetables that tasted awful. It was super salty, canned gravy, tasted awful. By the time I got my meal my husband was already finished with his. They comped me my pot roast which was nice considering but we didn't stay for pie. We will not be going back.

The benedict scramble is the best breakfast, except for the fact that my english muffin is usually burned. Should not have to ask for a new one every time! No I'm not being picky, if the muffin is blackened it should NOT be served.

No wait at 9am on Sunday? That kind of scared me but we were greeted immediately by the smiling hostess. We recieved prompt and friendly service from our server. Food could have been better, the eggs with diced ham was watery and not too great. Good bacon though. Food was about par for the course in the Sharis/Black Bear/Dennys universe. Extra star for the friendly prompt service!

I love their peanut butter and chocolate milkshakes, I'm here every couple days, cuz they are always open and their shakes are like the same price as fast food but so much better

Over a dozen times in the last nine years we have found ourselves finishing our night too late to go to most restaurants in the valley. Shari's is one of the only options for a family meal. That was the only reason we ever went to Shari's. Every time we went we either had terrible food or terrible service, and sometimes both. BUT, this last Sunday we went again and it was COMPLETELY different! Our server was Troy or Tony and he was outstanding. Constantly excellent in his timeliness, never had to ask for refills of tea, super professional. The kind of service you expect at a very nice restaurant. Then the food was outstanding. Really! Everything was cooked perfectly, everything super flavorful, again what you would expect at a really nice restaurant. I was so astounded that when I went to pay for the meal I asked for the manager and told him what I said here. He said that things had changed at this location and that this was how it was going to be from now on. If he is true to his word Shari's in Medford is very highly recommended by my family and I. We hope if you try it out you will have the same experience. It was so refreshing!!

I should say that I was rather surprised to discover that the food is actually pretty good. The place was busy but they were quick to seat us. The breakfast menu looks really good. I had quiche and hubby had corned beef hash benedict which looked pretty awesome. Too bad that there are no Shari's nearby in the bay area. It's definitely at a few step up from Denny's!

Shari's is great for a large crowd of people: their portions are gargantuan and served in large platters or cast iron skillets, they have wooden counter tops that are spill proof and indestructible chairs. It reminds me of when my father would take me to Ponderosa. My cousins and I would run around shrieking and playing hide and go seek under the tables and around the grown ups. This place is extremely accommodating for a party of 15-20. We just strolled in without a reservation and within minutes they maneuvered six small tables into a long dining table. It was ideal for side conversations and interacting with the most people. At one point, I was listening to two conversations at once! I had a rosemary chicken and dumplings. Didn't really taste the rosemary and the dumpling was huge- it was basically a biscuit dumped on top of a gooey gravy sauce but the chicken was moist. The best part was the cherry pie. I was so full, I had to lean back and take small breaths because my stomach felt like it expanded into my diaphragm. Despite the lack of room in my stomach, I had to try their pie. The pie comes out splayed out in a clear glass plate. The crust is flakey from the butter and crisp with grains of sugar sprinkled on top and there are whole cherries in warm sweet gooey pie filling. It was heavenly. I wished I save more room for the pie so I could slowly savor each bite. I ended up begging some of the people next to me to help me finish what I could not. Good thing I don't live next to a Shari's. I don't want to end up ten pounds heavier.

6 of us traveling, stopped to eat on Monday June 24th around 6:25pm. Horrible mixed up orders, 2 people ordered the country fried steak, 1 with no vegetables and sour cream on the baked potato, the other with vegetables and the gravy on the side. The waiter argued with the ladies that they got what they ordered and we all assured him the order was not correct. He actually picked up one of the baked potatoes with his hand and switched them on the plate. Lady decided not to eat that meal. Service was slow, food came in spurts, and an argumentative waiter. Earlier in the day we had super service in Roseberg at the Shari's and very disappointed at the one in Medford. We were not offered any type of compensation for the uneaten meal nor an apology for the mix up. Won't be back at Medford location again. Seemed to need more help, though the place was not half full.

Shari's is a restaurant that is actively trying to kill off its clientele. The food is all high-fat, high-salt, and high-sugar. I wouldn't mind this if the food were also good, but it's not. Let's take their cinnamon roll. Imagine a Cinnabon or any related big cinnamon roll. Now cover the top of it in a few tablespoons of melted butter, about a cup of hot caramel, and pecans. There's got to be a couple thousand calories in that thing. This might sound good, but it's not. it's not worth the calories: it just tastes gross. The grossness continues throughout the meal. Everything is covered in butter (well, it's probably not real butter) and gravy. If it tasted good, I'd be willing to accept it, but it doesn't. It all tastes like it's prepared by someone who hates you and is just trying to kill you. There are few restaurants that I've been to that are worse than this. I wouldn't go back if there were a gun pointed at my head.

I frequent Shari's a lot in WA and we went to grab an early dinner here while we were in town. It was the only bad Shari's experience I have had. My food was horrible, I got a chopped salad, my lettuce was brown and wilted, I only ate some pieces that looked ok, my pita bread was stale, really stale, inedible. I would have complained, but our waitress never came back. My husband got a bacon cheeseburger and we both were cracking up, one slice of bacon, one pickle chip, one ring of onion and 6 french fries on his plate. Good thing Sheri's is pretty inexpensive, but the food and service were really bad here. About 6 hours after eating I woke up and vomited all night long, could have been a minor bug or travel stress, but I felt fine before the salad, so who knows, but I definitely will not be returning to this location!

Don't recommend you go. GF ordered salad, I ordered a steak medium rare, i got it well done, no pink at all. They brought me a second one, steak tar tar, no exaggeration. The steak was seared on both sides but completely raw inside. The english muffin was also burned. I was only able to eat half my meal and left hungry. The next day we both had food poisoning symptoms. The only thing we both ate was her salad. I don't think they care about the customer at all.

You know how when you were little and you'd pee your pants and get all excited for that one night a week moms and dadsy took you out for dinner? Well, that's how I feel when my friends tell me WE'RE GOING TO SHARI'S! And then I get all worked up and hyper and suddenly become that poorly behaved kid in the restaurant that everyone wants to kick in the back. Except I'm 20. Well, anyway, what I'm sayin is that Shari's is definitely something to get excited over. Everything's good. Service is nice. Minus one star because sometimes the food takes too long to arrive, but maybe that's just me being an impatient little brat.

I used to go here at least 2 times a week for one reason.. It's the closest 24 hour restaurant with decent food! The service can usually be described as mediocre, but sometimes it can be downright horrible... One time we went to simply order 1 sampler platter (an assortment of greasy fried frozen food) for a quick late night snack. After about 30 minutes of waiting we asked if we could just get it to go and the waitress complained and argued with us in a very childlike manner. 20 minutes later we got our box of room temperature fried food to go. Another time we went earlier (around 11PM). There was 1 waitress and maybe 2 cooks running the whole restaurant of about 10 tables. She spent a long time at each table conversing with other diners about pretty much everything, which was a little frustrating seeing as how short staffed they were. The waitress' lower buttons on her shirt were unbuttoned so we got to place our orders with her flabby exposed belly resting on our table! Anyway, 2.5 hours later we had eaten and left. Sharis really needs to work on staffing ! While these are some of the more extreme cases, usually the service consists of a relatively slow, bored waitress and no refills. The food itself consists of everything you would expect from a normal diner: burgers, steak, breakfast, soups and salads. Most of it is pretty average. However, the pies and deserts are great! :) Even though I despise the service here, I will keep coming back because I'm a night owl and it's an ok place to go with friends.

Still waiting for my food here. Been waiting a little too long... Hoping that the food makes up for the wait! Okay . . .finally served. Food is just okay and service was touch and go. Pie is standard, nothing special at all. Sorry, Shari's, you did not impress this traveler.
