Here visiting went to ohs and was very pleased with the food and Mr oh himself but one cook ? Come on we come to restaurants because we're hungry not to sit for 30 minutes waiting for one person to cook at each table the waitress who doesn't come very often, come on your reviews are good you need more people to work this is a family place with at least 4 people or more at a table we don't want to wait 30 while you cook table by table.

Not impressed with the service. The food was ok, but for the amount of money we paid I would have expected better service. It took too long to get our food and too long to get our bill. The extra plate charge is a rip off, forget coming here with toddlers, you'll be charged an extra plate fee of 7.95 for sharing. I won't be returning.

Not a bad price coming in at $22. I would say its amazing, it's definitely an experience if you've never done it before. Pretty cool date place. I just felt like our chef wasn't that personable. He did his thing and we watched. But the food was tasty and plenty of it at that. If you are looking for something different for a date night check this place out :)

The BEST sushi in Medford!!!! I always eat here when in town. The Jay roll is always good. It's not on the menu but they will make it if u ask. The owner and his son are always friendly. I have been here on nights when it's really busy and it does take a little while longer but it's always consistently good.

We went there for my granddaughter's 5th birthday. There was 19 of us and the cook wanted to cook on only one grill. When the people in our party that were seated surrounding the other grill said that they weren't ok with that he begrudgingly cooked on both grills. He did none of the usual "cooking show" to entertain us. The waitress looked at us like we were stupid when we asked ordering questions, never refilled our water and served us rotten seaweed salad. They did not apologize or refund us when we told them about the salad. She never smiled. Service was very poor and understaffed! Going to Shoji's next time!

I am updating my last review and I will state for the record that I will not be back. This place has gone down the drain and will not change no matter how bad the reviews. I have been coming here for what 19 years, mostly for the kids birthdays at their request. My last visit was the final straw. I just want to point out that we time everything, to compare with our last visit. Expecting poor service, I have adapted to get what I want. We were seated, waiting for the chief to prepare our meal. I immediately went to the sushi counter and ordered several sushi rolls for our group, as it is normally 35 - 40 minutes before the chef arrives. I confirmed the order with the sushi chef (Owner's son), he was a bit unfriendly to say the least. After 20 minutes flagged down the sole waitress and ordered drinks for our table, also told her we had sushi coming. 15 minutes later, we got our drinks and again mentioned the sushi. After another 20 minutes the waitress dropped by for our orders and I requested another beer and reminded that we were waiting on sushi. We have now been seated for an hour and ten minutes. The waitress starts putting down salad and/or soup, again I ask about the sushi, she states she will check and be right back. The Chef arrives 10 minutes later and starts cooking, 15 minutes later , the waitress comes to me and says the sushi chef never made my order. I asked why and she had no clue. Asked me if I still wanted to order sushi, really? For what dessert? The part that really peeves me is the sushi chef (Owner's son) stood behind his counter starring at me the whole time. Mr.Oh is a nice guy, but that will be the last $150 he will be getting from me.

Oh's Osaka July 2nd 2014 Great food and an awesome teppanyaki show by the different chefs we've had the pleasure of meeting; this is by far one of my 6 y/o daughters favorite restaurants. We all love the chicken teriyaki There are multiple great reviews for the sushi and although it has been a few years since I've had sushi anywhere, Oh's used to be a favorite. Visited various times over the many years Oh's has been in business but mainly dinner time and what I've found is suggest is calling ahead to let them know you are coming, even though walk-ins are welcome, their attitude (the waitress staff) seem to be less negative with a bit of warning. Overall, for food Oh's is great - for service, not so much, as other posts have allured to, pretty poor - better service would equal better rating but we go here for the food.

Overall: nothing special, but not bad. Despite some of the negative reviews here about the wait staff, I didn't have much to complain about regarding them. She came by as much as I would have expected, and was prompt and courteous. Not the best service we had ever gotten, but NOT the worst by far! The chef that came to our cook station was about the same. Nothing special but not bad. The jokes were standard and he was good with the kids that were at our table. He didn't really interact with us very much, which would have been nice, but no big deal. It did take him a while to come to our table... Maybe 20 minutes. But again, not horrible. The food was probably the best part. We did have to add extra soy sauce and the other sauces to all of our dishes because it was kind of plain. But the food had a nice variety and tasted like good quality. Oh and they had a pretty good deal going- 2 for $22 for chicken teriyaki

Dark meat chicken with our entre, piss poor service, and nasty smelling sushi. I hope I don't get sick

Hate. This. Place. I didn't give it one star because the food is decent. I hate the service. No matter what, if the place is packed or empty, the service is terrible. It takes forever to get anything! I definitely think that they purposely don't bring the chef out for forever in the hopes that you'll order a bunch of drinks. If I get invited there for someone's birthday party one more time, I'm not going and getting new friends.

The service was absolutely not great and the chicks don't smile. The food was so/so. I believe because they are so short staffed in front of house. I would recommend to hire more people. First time being here, and I'm currently disappointed. Even brought a friend from Texas here, and he didn't enjoy. Embarrassment expedition.

I WOULD GIVE NO STARS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even know where to start. When my sister in laws and I arrived, it took about 2 minutes for them to notice we were there, and when the waitress came over she looked unhappy, irritated, and unprofessional. She sat us down, brought our waters rather quickly, but then that was it. Once we ordered, she came back 10 minutes later and made sure we were okay with the wait time which was 30-40 minutes. We said sure that would be fine, well 70 minutes later we decided to walk and head down to Misoya. (The reason why we left was because our waitress all of a sudden was changed into her regular clothes and heading for the door.) she never came back to say anything to us. DO NOT EAT HERE! DO NOT!

Great sushi! We don't do the tables where they cook rice and chicken n such, much, but love the specials for hand rolls. Mr Ohs roll is a family favorite. Interesting table setup/atmosphere, but always quality fish and delicious sushi. Our choice for Medford. Reasonably priced too! Servers are somewhat friendly, and don't leave you waiting. Most commendable are the sushi chefs.

Table service was really slow. It took at least an hour for our cook to come to the table. They only had two cooks on a Friday evening for the dinner rush? All meals come with a salad, except they forgot my wife's salad. When we asked for it, it still never came. Our glasses weren't refilled nor were we even asked if we wanted anything else. The food was okay. Shoji's food is better and the portions are bigger. It just seems like they're riding on the reputation they once had. Unfortunately that only gets you so far and this table of five won't be coming back here again.

Horrible service. One server for 20 something people. Sat there for a good 10 minutes with no one coming over. I got up and left. No thanks hire more people

Rarely do I not heed warnings of reviews but last Saturday night, upon the invitation of a close friend, I dined here. The hostess made it obvious she wished she could have been anywhere else but there......We got the impression that everyone in the joint was an inconvenience to her......Isn't the hostess supposed to have the mostest???? Maybe she was having a bad night. .....but given past reviews......this place is employee challenged.....and the owners should be aware that it's an issue. The food was tasty .....and we met some really nice people at our grill so not all was lost.

  • Sher G.

Was a 30 min wait like all the reviews have said. I think they do this hoping for the seating at the grill to fill up? There are 5 total grills and tables around the corner if you don't watch the show. But we were seriously the only couple in there besides one other couple and the rest of the place was empty at 5:30pm on a Saturday night! The waitress brought us water and a tiny salad. There were menus already on the table. Not impressed with the service from the waitress like everyone else has said in their reviews! But the owner Mr. Oh was our chef and made up for it! ;) He was funny and very entertaining! I didn't see as much of a show as I was expecting! No knives thrown/juggled! He just flipped an egg in the air which he dropped and clanked the salt and pepper around. The flames were cool in the beginning with the oil. He asked if it's anyone's special day and my husband piped in and said yeah my wife's birthday. So at the end of cooking he drew a picture of a panda with salt and an arrow pointing towards me. Everything was cooked well. Large portions of fried rice and vegetables! The fried rice was bland since not enough soy sauce and there was none available in a bottle on the counter. They served only half as much Teriyaki Chicken than the veggies or rice. The Teriyaki Chicken tasted good but I am highly intolerant to Lemon! He grabbed 2 full lemons faster than I could say No Stop and just squeezed them all over the chicken he was cooking for everyone! :O So to avoid embarassment and to not seem rude/snobby, I felt obligated to eat it rather than tell him to make me a separate batch! :( As a consequence I went home with a bellyche all night and left still hungry as well due to portion size. They had the $22 for 2 people Special going on but normally that would have cost us $18 each easily! :O Def not worth the money! The food didn't taste bad but i have clearly had better with larger portions for a better price so I am not impressed! We weren't thrilled about having to pay for downtown medford parking either even though it was in a separate lot for the restaurant! :/ $0.50 per hr then $1.00 per hr if 3 hrs or more! I don't like having to worry about a parking meter while I eat dinner myself....... They get 3 stars for the entertainment and food quality since it tasted good. But I won't return. It was fun since it was my Birthday but that's it, I won't frequently come here.

Ever since the move to their new location, the service at Oh's has gone downhill faster than a wagon full of fat kids. The teppenyaki cooks are friendly and the food is good, but the hostess and waitstaff can be TERRIBLY inattentive. During one visit, I placed a sushi order immediately after we were seated, and inquired about it 4 times throughout our meal. After our meal, management practically pushed us out the door to make room for more customers, and I *still* didn't have my sushi order. I tried to give them a second chance with a to-go order; called ahead 30 minutes before our arrival, showed up, was ignored by the hostess for another 15 minutes, and was finally was able to flag down an apologetic waitress. Our order still wasn't ready, and we ended up waiting another 10 minutes. I don't think we'll be back for a while.

Total waste, horrible service rip off on food. They lured us in with the 2 dollar sushi special. It was a joke it may be half rpice but you get half the quality and half the serving. We were the second table of the night to order (the one in front of us was a single gentleman.) An hour and a half later the server we only saw twice finally delivered a stale pathetic plate of what should have been 10 rolls. Looked to be about 4. They deserve zero stars.

Year after year it has proven to have the worse service I have ever been. I myself have not chosen it but have met others for dinner and drinks and every time I hope the service changes but seems it get's worse, not sure how they remain in business. Observing staff and I would say that the cooks themselves are friendly but when ownership/management is bad it then reflects on the staff and the service or lack of that is provided.

The last time I went was on a busy night and the manager was screaming at the waitresses that she was firing them all. We had a reservation and about an hour after out reservation time we got taken to a table that had people finishing their means. We stood there in shock for several minutes before catching the manager where she pulled us away from the table just to wait another 15 minutes for a different table. Once we sat down we waited about another 15 minutes for the waitress to ask us what we would like to drink. Once we finally received our sushi it was almost midnight and it was disgusting...and expensive. If you love her. Don't take her here.

  • L H.

Definitely wouldn't come here again. Sushi was mediocre, at best, and I felt nervous venturing into anything uncooked (which is normally not a problem for me). There didn't seem to be much turnover in the fish and I didn't feel very confident about the freshness. Wouldn't recommend going here. But then, I don't know what a good alternative is for sushi in Medford... does such a thing exist?

I miss when this place was in its old location, it seems everything went down hill when they moved. Food is good but service is horrible. They take forever to acknowledge you. Food takes forever and then they never check on you. They aren't real friendly either... not sure what happen but they use to be a lot better.

Once here was enough for us. We had a reservation for 4, and waited over an hour just to get seated. Once seated things just got worse. A 30 minute wait to get our drinks (just beers !), and another 20 minutes passed at the table with no sign of the teppan chef. I spoke to the waitress and told her that we were leaving to eat somewhere else, as we had been waiting almost 2 hours since checking in for our "reservation" and no food in sight. She did apologize, and convinced us to stay, which as it turned out, was a mistake on our part. The chef finally did show, made the food as ordered, and was out of there almost as quick as he arrived. Food itself wasn't bad, but I wanted to talk to a manager about the long wait. The response from the waitress was not what I expected. She came back and said: "Mrs. O won't come out and talk to you. She said to give you ice cream". I again asked, nicely, to speak with a manager. The waitress tried on our behalf,, she was nice and understanding, but the owner/manager, "Mrs. O", refused to even come out and talk to us. I felt that after all that happened, the least they could do was comp us a couple drinks, but the answer was no from Mrs. O, and no, I won't even come out and discuss the matter with you. Amazing. We were 4 paying customers, with a reasonable complaint, trying to speak to someone in charge about the matter, and they refused to even speak with us. Our waitress felt so bad that as we were leaving tried to give us $10 out of her own tips ! We refused her, of course, but how bad is it when a waitress has to offer her own hard-earned tips to a customer because they were treated so poorly? Needless to say, this was our groups first, and last, time at this restaurant. Too bad, because this type of restaurant (teppan style) can be alot of fun, and we were looking forward to a nice evening out. If you go,hope for a flawess meal experience. Just know, if something goes wrong, you are on your own. The management and/or owners really don't care about your complaints, and won't even discuss the matter with you.

HORRIBLE. The service is slooooooooow and inattentive, the sushi looked sloppy and the flavors are blah. Waited at least five minutes before being acknowledged for seating and it took another ten or so to get our drink orders in....took over twenty for them to actually show up. We ordered about 10 rolls for 4 people and they trickled out over the course of 90 MINUTES!!!! Their staff is either incredibly inefficient or the management hasn't a clue how to staff for a Saturday night. If you want good sushi and much better experience, try Misoya down the street.

  • Lizzy B.

I wasn't really blown away by the food. I figure that the price is for the entertainment value rather than the quality of the meal. Pay the extra money for the fish instead of the chicken. The chicken tends to look a little unappetizing in its raw form, but the fish looked delicious. Not the best place for dining with a group, as they will refuse to seat you unless everyone in your party is already there. They say that they will be forced to "give away their seats." Very odd, as there seemed to be plenty of seating available, and people aren't exactly eager to latch on to a pre-established party. I'm wondering if we just had an issue with that particular waitress. She was very rude, and was even spotted screaming at a fellow employee in front of guests.

We seated in the non-show area with the goal of getting to eat quicker than with the show. 45 minutes after being seated they had not even taken our drink order yet. We walked out and went to Star Sushi where the service was awesome and the food was excellent. It's not the first time we've had bad service at Oh's but it will be the last time we have bad service there.

Recently, they moved into a different space that is more trendy and larger but the food and especially the service has gone downhill. The woman (owner?) that is supposed to greet you is frequently not at her entrance podium and when she does stop doing whatever she is doing and acknowledges you it is with a look usually reserved for cockroaches. Service is slow, even if the place is nearly empty at 5:30PM. It was friendly too before they moved. So what happened?

so the gal and i didn't check out the benihana style dining, not our scene. we ate from the sushi menu exclusively (our scene for sure). we had no problems with service, no long wait time for anything. the sushi was very good and very fresh tasting. the menu has a nice array of rolls available to cater to all tastes. really good sushi. no joke. the goeduck clam thing that they do is a rich indulgent, almost too good, and is a great example of the variety on the menu. since we have gone here all the gal keeps asking me is "when are we going back to oh's?" soon i hope.

Been here 3 times. It is ok. My favorite part is the fried ice cream at the end! The cooks are nice guys with a couple of decent jokes. Food is decent and they make sure you get plenty. I really like the Shrimp Tempura Roll.

Best sushi on medford, not the best service. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night good luck trying to get a table, the place will be packed.

Had a large group dinner here for work - they know how to treat a crowd! We were a little slow getting seated at the teppan table (they had to rearrange some chairs for a group our size). Even though we had a reservation, we got seated about 15 minutes after the reservation time. Our chef was a delight! He was friendly, engaging, and entertaining. He made the largest pile of fried rice any of us had ever seen - huge portions for each of the 15 of us. The veggies were cooked up to a tender but crisp perfection. I ordered the chicken and filet mignon combo. OH MY GOSH - this was by far the most tender and juicy filet I've ever had. It wasn't seasoned (there were some dipping sauces, etc., though). If this steak had had a rub on it, I'd never go anywhere else for beef! The only disappointment of the evening was our server. She wasn't particularly friendly and we consistently had to flag her down for refills and orders from the bar. The place wasn't busy, so I'm not quite sure what kept her from our attention. I'd definitely go back - 5 stars for the food, 5 stars for the teppanyaki chef, but only 2 stars for the rest of our service. Maybe (I'm hoping) we caught her on a bad night?

I took my wife here last Friday for dinner and I couldn't have been more disappointed. I find it difficult to list all the things that are wrong with this place... We walked in and the hostess tried to get us to sit at a table instead of a cook station, my wife said that would not be okay (since she had phoned ahead of time to make sure we could get in at a cook table), the lady said she would see what she could do and disappeared. After close to 10 minutes of standing there a gentleman came over and asked if we'd been helped. After explaining to him, he got us seated at an empty cook station. The disappearing hostess returned and took our drink orders, took our food order, and brought back our drinks. While we waited, the station across from us filled up with a large group of people and our station gradually filled up with other walk-ins. After 45 minutes of waiting for something dinner related to happen, we were asked if we would mind moving to a different table as the group across from us had a reservation for 20 people and needed our side. In an effort to get some food in the near future, we all agreed. We only waited another 5 minutes for the group at the other table to leave and it to be cleaned off for us. When we were re-seated, our chef finally showed up and got the ball rolling. He did have to stop and get us silverware (while in the middle of cooking) since we had left ours at the other table when we moved. The jokes were standard, the food was good, and the dining portion of the evening was pretty enjoyable. Although the couple next to us did have to ask the chef for the sushi they had ordered almost 45 minutes previously. You'll notice I've made no mention of the disappearing hostess. That's because she never came back. At least not until it was time to hand out the bills. We were there for almost two hours and never had our water refilled, nor asked if we'd like another glass of wine. To be fair, there were two gentlemen and one other lady working there that were hustling and showed signs of caring about the customers. It is too bad we were stuck with the lady that cared the least. Ohs is a local restaurant, not a chain, and I really wish our experience there was better. My wife went so far as to ask the chef if they tip-shared or if she could just tip him. Unfortunately they tip-share and the hostess would be getting a cut of a tip she did not deserve. I give one star just because they exist and a second star because the food was good. I will NOT be going back. At least not until they upgrade their staff.
