our first overnight visit to medford after moving to the oregon coast and i checked the 'net to see where would be a good place to eat. i decided on mcgrath's. oh my. from beginning to end, and all through the meal everything was wonderful. the calamari appetizer was lightly breaded and delicious. our cole slaw was excellent - lightly sauced and very delicate tasting. hubby's prawns/cod and chips were reallly reallly good and he rarely says that. my john q publick cheese burger with bacon was out out this world good. topping it off, we shared the trifecta - a combo dish with marionberry cobbler and vanilla ice cream, NY cheesecake w/strawberry topping and their tuxedo truffle mousse. we didn't even try the warm bread served with whipped butter, we were so engaged in our own meals...excellent!! our server, jake, was outstanding. answered our questions, refilled my diet pepsi more than a couple times, and was perfectly attentive.

We've eaten here twice. So far we love it! Not sure why they have gotten such bad reviews? our first visit we ordered fish and chips, oysters, clams, clam chowder, and the salmon. Our meal was wonderful and Our waiter was on the ball. The second trip was in the bar. Not as friendly staff and it seemed to take forever for us to get our meal. We'll be back for those fish and chips. Best I've had here in the valley.

This place used to be a fairly nice restaurant when it first opened but it has absolutely gone downhill. I asked for fries and a regular cheeseburger specifying that all I wanted was cheese raw onion mayonnaise ketchup mustard and lettuce. The waiter brought me a hamburger with nothing that I asked for on it. It had a huge pile of sautéed onions, no mayo no ketchup or mustard, an unnecessarily huge pile of limp, soggy iceburg lettuce...and I didn't get the fries I ordered either. When we went the restaurant maybe had 4 other people in it but the service was sooooooooo slow. Mcgraths has turned into shit unfortunately. I will never go back.

We ate here while en route back to CA. What a pleasant surprise! It was practically empty on a Saturday afternoon, but the place is huge, so hard to tell the head count really. Every dish we ordered did not disappoint. We had: crab and artichoke dip to start (yum), oyster shooters (huge!), crab Louis salad with the house stew (again, did not disappoint), and the seared ahi tuna salad (great pairing of the fruit, nuts, and dressing alongside the chunky pieces of tuna). The wine selection was also decent and I really enjoyed the Pinot Noir by Underwood Cellars. All in all, I recommend this place whether you are a local or just passing through.

We went to McGrath's on our weekend trip to Medford. It was fabulous! The food was excellent, the selections were wonderful, the drinks were great and our waitress was friendly and helpful. As a lover of seafood, I highly recommend it.

This place has been in the valley for years, and it has been a long while since I have had dinner there. Went there last night with my family, and that will be the last time! We were all Highly disappointed and let down by the quality of food that had no taste, the staff that was not polite, and the service to our table was very poor! No refills on drinks - nor asked, rock hard bread - no more was served or offered either, and the fifteen dollar plates were more fit for a small child. I recommend other establishments instead! Visit at your own risk and use your own judgment.

It was halibut week when we were there. The halibut parmesan was done to a turn and absolutely delicious. I wonder if they will let you order things like the halibut parmesan a la cart rather than the whole meal. I would have loved it if I could have just had the fish and a salad. That would have made the whole meal for me. Don't get me wrong--the whole meal was very good, there was just too much of it to finish. Oh, my wife didn't like the carrots in the steamed vegetable side dish. For her, they weren't cooked enough. But then, she doesn't like raw carrots. Then again, carrots shouldn't be raw in a steamed veggie medley, should they?

We were seated for dinner, the place was not very busy. We had two servers, one in training. So I won't get to much into the service, but it was poor. We ordered drinks, they brought mine, but forgot my ladies drink. Waiting 15 minutes, had to flag them down. We ordered at that same time, I ordered the steak and lobster with clam chowder. My lady ordered Pear, Blue Cheese & Walnut Salad with a cup of clam chowder. Waiting about 15 minutes, I flagged down our servers, to let them know we wanted our chowder before our meal. 5 minutes later our chowder arrives with bread. Chowder was, nothing compared to the Wharf in Medford, but ok. We finished the chowder, had to flag down the waitress for another beer and ask for some more bread. Another 20 minutes goes by and they bring our meals out to us. They brought my Sirloin Steak to my table, I thought it was odd that the lobster was not on the same plate. Oh well that must be the way they do it. The steak was a very poor cut of meat, tasty but like shoe leather. However, the baked potato was good, finished that and realized that we had been eating for 20 minutes and still no lobster. I was able to flag down the servers and ask about the lobster, the servers were not sure how that happened, but assured me that the lobster would be on it's way. 5 minutes later, In it's own tiny plate is a baby lobster tail, really should have let this little guy grow up. Anyway the tail was broiled and browned on top, sliced a piece and into my mouth it goes. I then find myself spitting it out as only the top was cooked, the meat below the shell level was raw. This tail could not have been broiled for more than a minute. Sat there for another 15 minutes and once again flagged down the servers for the bill. The one waitress asked how our meals were, my lady said her salad was wonderful. I said my steak was tough and pointed out that the lobster was raw, she looked in disbelief, so I flipped it over for her to she. She agreed and offered to get me another tail, however just wasn't excited about lobster at that point and my lady was long done with dinner. They brought the bill and I was happy to see that they had not charged me for my meal, that was a nice touch considering I did not ask for that. Overall, I can understand having a bad cut of meat as they are a seafood restaurant. Serve a raw lobster tail when you specialize in sea food???

The waitress was terrible. It took over 30 minutes to get a beer. She complained about how long she was working. After asking numerous times for no bread or gluten the salad arrived covered in croutons. The salads and soup arrived so late the entrees arrived 5 minutes later. The steak comes with a onion rings on it, again after requesting numerous times no bread. We told the waitress it was not what was ordered. She handled it poorly. Poor attitude. We spoke to the manager. He made nice. To top off the evening...a hair was under my fish. I didn't see it until I was halfway through my dinner. I have never experienced such poor service, horrible handling of the situation. I requested the order to be comped. It was. However, our evening was ruined. I will not return. I would not recommend this restaurant. We left mad, hungry and extremely displeased.

Went out dinner and went to McGraths because it was convenient to the hotel. My husband ordered the appetizer of fried oysters and he said they were still cold I side. He said they tasted ok but the temperature was not good. I had the special which was a trout dish with rice. It was good and so was the rice. Steamed veggies were nothing special and was mostly cauliflower. We had a bowl of the clam chowder and it was ok. The bread was hot when it came to the table. We ordered a wedge salad and it was the most weird version I've ever seen. Basically there was no wedge...it was a chopped Iceburg salad with chopped egg and blue cheese. Definitely would not order it again. My husband ordered salmon and it was farmed raised. I would expect that a seafood restaurant would make the effort to get fresh salmon and not farm raised. We are in Oregon near the coast. Overall service was slow and a bit forgetful. Won't go to this place again...the biscuits at Red Lobster are far better. We will try the Wharf the next time...

McGrath's was always a huge favorite before I left the NW but with my new severe food allergy we were more than a bit scared. But the staff was AWESOME! They went above and beyond to make sure I didn't get sick and the food was still as good as I remember. Good seafood at great prices. As always the side dishes were so so but all else was fresh, flavorful and cooked right!! descent prices and so many choices!! Can't recommend them more!!

  • Gee T.

OMG!!!! Soup was brought out AFTER main course, Salmon was overcooked... and served "BURNED" Chowder... Can you believe? The chief could even smell it???? Manager tried to bring out new one but NO THANKS then he never stopped by again. This is McGrath's on Millplain!

Barely palatable. My stuffed mushrooms were supposed to be stuffed with crab not cream sauce and celery. I ended up eating all of the bread because I was hungry dammit. I came to a seafood place to avoid carbs!!! Yes the bread was better than the mushrooms, seared ahi and steamer clams. The service was good.

  • Haley M.

DISAPPOINTED! I explained 3 times that I had a wheat allergy and i get a steak with an onion ring. Time after time I have left mcgraphs mad because they either were rude or gave me the wrong order. I will never return I would rather stay home than go there again . If you have any allergy stay away! Worst place in medford I have been too.

Horrible food. My daughter had the clan chowder and immediately went to the bathroom to relieve her stomach. My little one refused to eat his dinner and my oldest son had the crab cakes which tasted frozen and old. The steak I ordered was the worst steak I have ever had. I know who goes to a seafood restaurant and has steak. Well it was an extra to the never ending shrimp. The only good thing about dinner was walking out the door. Well and the waitress. She was a doll! Never will I go there again it recommend it. I told them about my daughter and they simply said, "sorry, I will talk to the gm and see if we can get you some coupons". Why would I want coupons when I refuse to go back there again. What I waste of $80!

This is just not my kind of place. I came here on a work lunch outing. First off, I don't really eat seafood outside of sushi and this is a seafood restaurant. Second, this place feels very dated and old, kind of like an Olive Garden or a Houlihans for those in the know, but not as nice. Our waitress was great- a very sweet woman who did a super job with our large group. I ordered the chicken penne pasta with a pear, walnut and Gorgonzola side salad. The salad was DELICIOUS. Were I to come back, I would most definitely order a full-size salad instead of an entree. However, this salad is loaded with fat and calories. It's more like a dessert, but quite good. My entree was flat-out disgusting. I just plain hated it. It came with a tomato cream sauce that was just kind of nasty tasting; I cannot really describe it other than it was just not pleasing to my palate. They mixed in canned whole black olives which did not add to the dish at all. They felt like the odd man out for sure. The pasta was topped with a dried out, breaded chicken breast that was covered in balsamic vinegar. I don't know what else to say other than I found it gross and did not eat it after the first bite. I picked at the pasta and ultimately ended up "taking it home," which really means I handed it off to a willing coworker. The stars are for the service and the salad. The rest left a lot to be desired.

It's almost worth moving to Medford just so that I could continue to eat McGrath's Fish House! The Seafood Astoria was absolutely divine. I could not get enough of this delicious dish. The sea food was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were fresh, the melted butter and cheese, oh my gosh I could go on and on. If you are ever at McGraths definitely order the Seafood Astoria. I know the next time I'm driving through town I will definitely stop and order this again.

I was today for lunch. Not a lot was going on there, first after 5 minutes the server came to cake our order. I had to get clean silverware, it was not clean. Our lunch was only a cup of soup and half sandwish. We waitede ovdr 20 minutes for that. We got our soup , it was warm but not hot. As we after waiting again 15 minutes we got our sandwich, with cold fries. We got a box for our sandwish. The service was bad , just like the food. I will not come back

Solid four stars here with fresh fish at the top of the menu. Today for lunch I'm having fresh rainbow trout.

I like to always stay positive about restaurants and I would almost rather say nothing then to say something negative but this place was so bad and it made my 89-year-old grandmother sick as a dog so something needs to be said on the upscaled the service was adequate but the food was Horrible my grandmother Ordered the lobster tails and who doesn't love lobster tails no one would love these she said that they tasted funny so I took a bite of one it didn't taste like it was smoke it tasted like it was rubdown with liquid smoke right out of the bottle it was so smoky you couldn't taste the lobster and rubbery like it'd been overcooked two hours ago no one had a good dish we complain and we just want to get up paying our check and leaving bad food bad customer service bad management just say no

  • Mark P.

Extremely underwhelmed!! Ordered a dish consisting of grilled salmon, crab cake and skewered prawns. The prawns were literally rotten, they resembled some type of gross, rotting flesh!! I sent them back and to their credit received a new skewer with un-spoiled prawns pretty quickly. The salmon was old, looked like it had been cooked, put aside and then heated up. Service was o.k. but toward the end fell off. The server took the dishes, we declined desert and then he disappeared while we waited and waited for the check. This was my second or third visit and the last.

Chowder and warm bread were as good as it got. A few hours after eating here, I got sick and my son got toxic gas. This is not a place to eat if you are on a roadtrip.

I went in late and alone, they took great care of me. Yea, it's a chain, Yea it's a formula joint, it's also pleasant, comfortable and good. Don't expect it to be Dimaggio's in San Francisco, but it's no dump either. I was surprised how good the sourdough bread was this far out odf the big cities. Service, food, art on the walls, a pleasant evening.

Went here last night with my aunt and uncle. First off I noticed the wall was filthy, like stuff had been splashed there and not cleaned up. The blinds were also dirty and had a dead spider on the windowsill. Service was horrible. The server got our drinks wrong three times. He kept trying to give everyone ice tea! He was obsessed with iced tea! My dad ordered coffee, he came back with ice tea. When my dad did get coffee it was decaf, which he didn't order. I had diet Pepsi and the server filled my glass up with iced tea. He also disappeared after the salads and we had to ask another server to refill our drinks. We noticed a table that had ordered after us and had a different server was already eating so we flagged him down and asked where our food was. He came back to refill our drinks and we asked if he had found out about our food and he said he hadn't been to the kitchen yet. Someone else brought out our food and I'm sure it had been sitting there ready for about 15 minutes. It was warm, not hot. We are patient, but he seriously disappeared for 20 minutes.

This is a place my siblings and I MUST visit when home from College. I know it's a fish place, and I don't hate seafood. But can I just tell you, the chicken strips are LIFE-CHANGING. Since I first had these in my adolescence, I have hated every chicken strip I've ever had that's not from McGrath's. Also to die for? The Coconut Prawns, the Clam Chowder and the Entree Salads. I will admit that the quality of food is not completely consistent, but the lowest quality from McGraths is still superior in my mind. I've also found the wait-staff to be very helpful and prompt and the management to be present. Impressive place. Try the strawberry lemonande!

I live in a town that only has a grill in the back of the one existing gas station (you know, the old 'eat and get gas' routine). So getting FISH at a restaraunt is special, especially when it's not FRIED.... or out of a box from the frozen food section of the grocery store. So this place is okay, and I had the alder planked salmon and it was tasty enough. The kid had chicken teraki, and was happy enough (kids -- they'll go to an all-you-can-eat place, cost you $14, and eat only the mac'&'cheese), and it was nice to go to a real restaraunt...the service on a weeknight was prompt enough. But the bonus, in this case, was that they brought the kid menu placemat with a brand new box of crayons. Yeah, I like to color, even though I'm not too good at staying inside the lines. I usually entertain the young'uns well enough, though, so it's all good.

Pretty close to perfect. Three different entrees and each was lovely. Perfectly cooked fish, excellent sauces, crisp salads and yummy warm bread...All reasonably priced. Oh, great service too. Would definitely return.

There are many times when I don't get to pick the restaurant, so this was one of my go with the flow meals. And although the food wasn't terribly exciting, it was perfectly pleasant and the service was both quick and quite nice. The location is very close to I-5, so it would also be a convenient spot to grab a bite if you want to quickly return to the road. We all chose the pistachio-encrusted halibut that was served with a marionberry sauce. The sides were a little less exciting than the entree. This location is a favorite for my family in the area and they've always done a nice job. I'm sure I'll return unless I can convince them to venture forth.

I was driving from LA to Seattle on a great road trip till I came here. I got FOOD POISONING at this restaurant. Do not order the baby back ribs, whatever you do!

  • Fergus P.

We ended up eating here twice in a 24 hour stay in Medford. Food's good. What really blew me away was just the very high level of hospitality we experienced from both our waiters. Our waiter even made me a bootleg dessert cocktail (rusty bagpipe) after the bartenders had gone home and drink service was supposed to have stopped. Spicy shrimp lettuce wrap appetizers really good.

I know fish. I grew up close enough to the ocean to appreciate a good seafood restaurant. But this place has left me longing for PCH. I've dined in once (ordered king crab legs) and made one take out order on an evening I had a salmon craving. Both times I was less than impressed. My crab was ok but the sides were not good. My salmon was dry. Flavorless. I ordered my boyfriend some fettuccine alfredo (one of the only vegetarian friendly items on the menu, not that it's too big of a surprise) and it was disgusting. Appalling! Because it was a to-go order I think they really screwed me. The "cup" or so of pasta (for $10) was overcooked and awful and the "alfredo" was nothing more than grease. We threw it away. I give two stars because my crab wasn't bad the first time and the service was good, but all in all it's not a very good restaurant and they shouldn't have things on their menu they can't cook.

  • Shyla C.

While a good place to eat, I would have to say it isn't my number one place for seafood in Medford. The quality is a bit inconsistent not only from visit to visit, but from plate to plate as well. My husband ordered a steak medium rare that arrived very well done. The manager was very accommodating, and offered to take the meal off our check, which I found very nice. While the steak and fish can be touch and go, the crab is usually pretty good. I don't feel like the food offered is worth the price you pay, although the service on any given night is pretty good.

    (3)
  • gary g.

It seems like a nice place with good prices. But that's just what it seems like. I had the steak and crab; I upgraded for $5 to the NY Strip. I can honestly say that the steak was the worst steak I have had anywhere in the past 10 years. Gristly, and disgusting. The crablegs? The worst I have ever had. The meat was also gray, and it was way overcooked and downright bad. I'd rather pay 2X anywhere then suffer through this inedible stuff. The staff was nice, though, so I feel a little bad saying how disgusting the food is.

  • Guadalupe G.

this is by far the worse place anybody can go eat..... i would never i a life time eat their again. We ordered the oysters and omg their was a worm on one of them. we had'nt noticed we had already eaten like 6 or 8 of them. The waitress was nice and went to go get the manager and he refuesed to go see what was going on. The waitress took of of our check the charge for the oysters but that to me is not enough. And to top it all of fwhen the manager told us (when we finally went up to him) that , that happens cause the oysters are still alive . Please we live in medford OREGON not in a bay area where you eat seafood that is coming out of the water as you put your order in. He thinks pp are stupid just cause we dont work their..... And he calls himself a MANAGER. This was so sick. i can only imagine how they cook all their food and how nasty their kitchen must be... SO I STRONGLY RECOMEND NOT TO GO THEIR UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK ENDING UP IN A HOSPITAL BED FOR THE MANEGER NEGLETING TO PUT HIS COOKS IN ORDER AND HAVE THEIR FOOD BE SUPERVISED .

    (1)
  • David F.

The meals were just ok. On the other hand, the salads were very good. Unfortunately my steak was just barely warm and pretty darned tough, but the shrimp almost made up for the bland portion of meat. The string beans were very under-cooked and the drinks tasted liquor-free. I think there are better choices for seafood in Southern Oregon.

    (3)
  • Helen L.

It's next to Harry & David store. Great service and great food. For .59 more, instead of the side salad, you can have clam chowder. You actually see clams. I've been to too many restaurants without bread and it's so good to go to one so old fashion and traditional. You actually get warm sourdough with butter! No need to ask. I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection. Good portions of side of green beans, love green beans. The fried oysters were perfectly done, still a bit squishy, how I like it. So full, can't try the pretty dessert. Of course, there's margarita drinks for you boozers. Overall, fresh, fresh, fresh!

I liked this restaurant and the HAPPY HOUR after 10PM. They also have Black Butte Porter on tap which is GREAT!!! I think if you eat before 6 or 7pm happy hour is half off appetizer and the seared ahi tuna and calamari was pretty good.

  • David B.

I really like this mini chain. I first experienced them a good 20 years ago in Corvallis, OR. They were good then. They are good now. Nice to have one in Medford. Tonight, I had a sauteed seafood platter that had a delicious salmon filet in basil butter, some skewered prawns in a garlic/butter basting, and a quite good crabcake. Dish also came with fresh asparagus, a baked potato, sourdough bread, and for an extra $1.79 a small shrimp louie salad. Excellent meal. My partner had the fisherman's platter that had 2 kinds of breaded fish, scallops and shrimp. He raved about it. We were so full, we had to skip dessert. Nice place, reasonably priced, and pretty good service.

This place has consistently disappointed me. After going here 5x over just as many years I can honestly recommend you do NOT eat here. Underportioned, low quality food is what you should expect (see salad)

  • Bob E.

We had a late lunch today and were very disappointed! The salad was served to my two companions but the waitress forgot my chowder. My soup finally arrived and shortly after she brought our main course. I sent her back until we could finish our soup and salad. She then brought back our, by this time, cold dinners. I sent her back again to have them redone. Finally I got a hot meal however my two guests ordered the prawns which should be described as popcorn shrimp. This was our first and last trip! Don't waste your money! Red Lobster would be a much better bet.

Very extensive menu with local fish, produce and wines. We were only in town one day but were by glad the hotel recommended it. We will be back. Great waiter. Food was great. Very fresh bread, chowder fantastic. Local wine made it special. Fun waiter. Wish I lived here so I could dine here more often.

I (flying solo) stopped in for dinner after a long day at work, the waitress who seated me disappeared and another guy had to go find her (weird)....anyway I ordered the steak and prawns, which I thought took what seemed like an eternity to get to my table and quite frankly was unimpressive...no personality to anything there...just sort of thrown on the plate...I may sound picky, but I know when I get good food, although this was not bad, it certainly lacked in appearance and quality, My gut sort of ached afterwards also...not sure why lol

    (2)
  • Joe E.

Ate there last Saturday evening expecting a great seafood experience. I gave it 2 stars only because the lam chowder was tasty. But the prawns were terrible - especially the skewered grilled ones. Worse than tasteless. The stuffed ones were awful. Coconut prawns were tasteless and they were the best of them all. The pear salad was indelible. Maybe one of the fish specials would have been the way to go but I will not return to find out. I was never asked if I was happy with the meal even though it was only partially consumed. I just wanted the experience to end.

Clam chowder was fantastic ! Shrimp were crisp and fresh! A must when in Medford !! Service is grand and they made sure you didnt run out like bread and water and sodas. Butt all and all I will be back for lunch or dinner. You gotta try them ..

I went here twice within one week and felt the same about both experiences: Good service and friendly staff but the food did not impress me. I'm all about the food. At a seafood restaurant I expect great food. Both times I was there for lunch -- on one occasion I ordered a fried seafood platter and found myself pretty full from the salad that preceded and didn't have much of a taste for heavily battered and oily items so I didn't eat much of it. I should have known better than to order a plate of fried food....it tasted fine but I reached overload really fast. I'm sure some people just love it though. The second visit I went with the open faced crab-artichoke salad sandwich. The waiter explained the presentation which I appreciated (sliced bread & a pile of crab salad which you assemble) but my palette didn't detect any crab... a bit of a let-down. There was lot's of artichoke though and the meal was more than I could eat.

It's a good place to go for dinner with kids and family. Lot cleaner and spacious than AppleBees or Chillis. The prawns, alder plank salmon, lobster tacos and a kid meal were all decent; nothing great or spectacular but we all had a good time. The lady who served us was helpful and friendly. Nice service overall.

I have been a fan of McGrath's for years. However, I was a bit disappointed on my 5/11/13 visit. The table was sticky by where the condiments, etc were kept. And the wood molding above that was dusty and had sticky splatters. I was really surprised, I have never seen anything like that at McGrath's before. Food was not its usual quality either. The firecracker shrimp were tough and flavorless. Canned pears in the salad, really? The crab "crusted" cod was actually a smear of crab cake fried until crispy. There was so much filling, or whatever it was that you couldn't even tell there was any crab flavor whatsoever. I will say the cod was cooked perfectly. So previous visits would have been 4 stars, but something has gone awry and if they want my money they need to figure it out.

Okay, I swore, about 7 years ago, that I'd NEVER eat at a McGrath's Fish House ever again, but my friend wanted to try it, so I gave in and went with her. I tried to tell her how awful the food is there, but still, we went. *sigh* As per usual, the food was horrific. And very expensive for the crap they serve. Over the course of many years, I've eaten at McGrath's about 5 times in different cities. They're all the same. Granted, I'm not a big fan of seafood, so I opted to have a regular burger and fries. I mean, how can you screw up a burger, right? Apparently, if you're a cook at McGrath's, you can screw it up REAL BAD. The meat was so over-cooked it literally crunched, not kidding here, and it was black. I don't recall seeing "blackened" burger in the description on the menu. Hmm... Anyway, the fries were also VERY dark, but they were hot. The onion was all dried out like it had been cut last week and left in a bin in the fridge. The pickle was soft and gooshy and disgusting and the bun was dried out and crumbly. Being hungry, as it WAS lunch time, I ate some of the fries and a couple bites of the burger, but I couldn't stand the crunchy meat so I just left the mess of crap on the plate. The server didn't ask if anything was wrong; I imagine she didn't ask because when she set the plate in front of me with the burger laying out for me to put together, it was obvious that the meat was a charred mess that they'd re-warmed in the microwave. (((shudder))) So, I've once again sworn off McGrath's Sh!t House, but this time it's for the LAST time!! I even did a little backward foot shove, like a cat burying it's crap, when I got out the door of that disgusting place. That was me burying that place forever!!! My friend didn't say much about her food, but she hardly ate a thing. I didn't ask her why. I think she was trying really hard to avoid the subject, since I'd already told her how awful that place was going to be in the first place. :) Oh well, live and learn. Next time, I'd rather eat at a Carl's Jr. if I'm going to order a burger. At least I know what it will taste like. And I HATE fast food. bwahahahahaha Trust me, no matter where you go in the U.S.A. you're not going to get a good meal at a McGrath's Fish House.

Husband had the cobb salad with shrimp. I had the herb crusted salmon salad. The salmon was excellent. The salad had way way way too much dressing. My fault cuz i didn't ask for it on the side?? The dressing was tasty, but just on too thick. It was within walking distance of the Marriott where we're staying tho and that was worth it so we didn't have to drive anywhere after a day of driving.

The so-called "fresh" lobster was miniscule, 5 bites maybe. It was also really mushy, disgusting really. Raspberry vinaigrette? Icky sweet French dressing. My husband had the supposedly fresh halibut - it had the characteristic rubbery no-flake texture of badly frozen fish. I would never go back.

Salmon, grilled vegetables, salad with blue cheese, red potatoes, clam chowder, and sourdough bread. I washed down with a pint of pale ale. Nothing dry or over cooked... I enjoyed the meal.

Ordered the coconut shrimp and ahi salad. Others ordered salads and popcorn shrimp. Service was good and the food average. Could come back again, but nothing extraordinary.

Discovered this place by accident and began looking forward to the 3 hr drive knowing that this waited at the end for us. Very creative and tasty dishes. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. On one of my first visits I had a scallop dish with a hazelnut cream sauce that made me a believer. i have not seen it on the menu again but there are always enough new dishes to keep it interesting. Medford has great restaurant choices and this is one of the best.

Honestly, this place did not live up to any of these reviews. I went with my boyfriend on a wednesday night around 9. They close at 10, but they were a little slow. We got there and the hostess was great, we were sat right away. The menu selection is good. There is also salads, burgers, and pasta, not just sea food. Food was standard, nothing to write home about. The sourdough was really good, warm with butter! What totally killed it was the service. Our server just chatted forever with the table next to us. it was beeeeyond just casual chat. We waited seriously for 6-8 minutes for her to greet our table before we got drinks. After we ordered drinks, we waited like 10 more minutes. It was like 15 minutes before we even had our drinks. There was a table next to us that had a different server and they were done about 20-30 minutes before us. Whatever, it was horrible service. never goin back.

The food is good, service is mediocre. I love McGraths in other areas, such as Washington State, Salem, Or. We were happy with the food and especially the sourdough bread.

Had a salmon and shrimp special here. -1 star for the shrimp embryos they were trying to pass off as shrimp. -1 star for coming in at 4:10pm and not being able to get a baked potato because those aren't available until 4:30. Waitress was cute though.

This place is next to the "famous" Harry and David store and while waiting for the tour of the factory, we went to eat at McGraths. first off, the service was really good. we were seated immediately, and our waitress came within a minute or two of sitting down. we were in somewhat of a hurry to catch the tour of the harry and david factory and they helped our situation with really fast service. we ordered clam chowder, fisherman's stew, and the steamer clams. id have to say, the steamer clams were one of the best steamer clams i've ever had. the wine sauce that it sat in was not over powering and it went well the the sourdough bread that was given to us. the clam chowder had a huge bacon punch to it, but the clam taste still came through when you ate a hunk of it that was in the soup. personally, i was a fan of it. the fisherman's stew was pretty fresh and had just a ton of seafood in it (although i couldn't really tell what some of it was, except for some type of white fish) overall, i enjoyed the clam steamers and the clam chowder. a plus is that the place is relatively cheap (for seafood. 11 per person with appetizer and tip).

I had the old standby, fish n' chips. It was excellent! Fish was moist and the breading was a very light tempura. It was cooked to perfection. My wife had the fish tacos and said they were very good. The fish came with my choice of salad or coleslaw, which I appreciated because I don't care for coleslaw. Also served with a basket of warm sourdough bread. Our server was very friendly and prompt. Would definitely recommend.

We stopped in for lunch on Black Friday during lunch time, we were seated quickly and had excellent service. We each ordered the $3.99 shrimp cocktail, loved it! I had pan fried oysters, best oysters I have ever eaten, perfectly cooked and flavoured. Served with fresh grilled vegetables and a baked potato. Sourdough bread with cold butter. My favorite meal on our road trip. BF had the grilled tuna in sesame seeds, he loved it. Big portions, excellent prices. I can't believe this is a chain, I was very impressed!

I was in Medford just for the day after a visit to my family in Klamath Falls. it was Dad's birthday and this is where he wanted to go. We had a wonderful time and meal. Our server Kristen was the best. She was on top of everything and really made the dining experience and my Dad's day special. I had the fish tacos and was not expecting much, but they were very good. I don't know that rice pilaf would have been my first choice as a side dish, but what do I know? This is Oregon and I am from California, maybe this is the way they do things here! The prices for everything were very reasonable, well compared to Cali they were. I will definitely stop by next time I am in Medford!

Great food and service. I enjoyed the scallops for dinner and bread pudding for dessert. This far from the coast it was nice to get seafood that did not taste fishy or frozen.

We were at Harry and David's and we were hungry. Great Food, Great Service I went on line and they have a chain of McGrath's.

Medford Oregon is far from a culinary mecca. It's hard to find decent food or service. McGraths is one of the nicer places. The food is good and the service is great by Medford standards. It's about a step ahead of Red Lobster. There is often a line on weekends, so make sure to plan ahead. I recommend the crab and shrimp wontons.

The food was reasonably good, but not memorable, so this is a mixed review. We ordered a half rack of ribs, and got only 4 ribs. The server said that the half rack is measured by weight, not by the number of ribs (yeah right, since when?!?!?). But since I spoke up, they did bring a few more. The fish was good, but the rice pilaf was not that tasty and had spices that I did not care for (restaurants should stop trying to reinvent some sides for the sake of kicking it up a notch to be different, and would be better off to follow the K.I.S.S doctrine). The green beans were yellowish and tough/undercooked. The bread was tasty, soft and warm as others mentioned. I would go back, but it would not be a regular favorite of mine. The others in our group had mixed feelings as well.

We were on a search to have some good seafood while staying in Medford. A few review sites rated this place fairly well and I have to admit that they were right on. J and I had a couple of fisherman platters that included macadamia nut crusted halibut and Parmesan crusted cod. Both were very tasty to eat. Topped off with some decaf and a piece of key lime pie and you have the makings of a great meal to top off a day of traveling. The restaurant was in walking distance to the TownePlace Suites where we are staying so this is a great match to someone who doesn't want to spend a bunch of time in the car looking for dinner.

i have had meals at several mcgrath's and was there this past week. at every location, they have always done a great job. i did learn one thing about this chain. once or twice, i ordered off the regular menu, and was quite disappointed with the food. but every time that i have ordered off the daily specials menu, i have never been disappointed, and several times had wished that there were more food on my plate to eat, it was so good. the service is always great, the people friendly, and the sourdough bread is some of the best i have eaten. just stick to the daily specials and you will not be disappointed.

One star because yelp won't let me give it zero. Gave M's a second try because one of the managers contacted me after my review here and apologized. But, all the niceties in the world can't make up for another bad experience. First, the oil used to fry in needs to be changed. The food tasted odd and greasy. And, like last time, I wound up spending most of the afternoon in the loo. So much for my day off... Service? Yikes! We were not even greeted by our waitress until eight minutes after being seated. They had just opened and we were the only ones in the restaurant. So, it wasn't like she had other tables she was busy with. A little tip to the staff: when someone is coughing/choking at one of your tables, go check on them. The waitress looked annoyed when she finally showed up and said, "It sounds like you need some water." No, really? I was shocked that her tone was so nasty. And, when she came back, she asked my son if he only wanted water, too. Inexcusable rudeness which was matched only by her poor service skills. She finally came back to get our order and her mood still seemed questionable. The food came and my son asked for more cocktail sauce. She bristled and asked, "What? Don't you want ketchup?" He politely replied that he did, but that he also would like more cocktail sauce. She turned and walked away without a word. Well, she finally brought it after he was almost finished with his meal. That's when she finally asked us how our food was (what happened to the three bites or three minutes rule?), I told her I was not happy with my dish (soggy breading, greasy). She looked miffed (again) and walked away. Seriously? If you don't want to work or be nice while doing it~go home. But, this place seems to have a problem with staff and attitude (among other things). So, take your business where they are truly glad to see you and where you won't regret eating there for the rest of the day.

good food, good friendly service ... and at a very very reasonable price .. a nice restaurant, dressy but not stuffy, with a varied menu specializing, of course, in sea food ... great place for special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays

After a long hot drive from the Bay Area, this was definitely a cut above other local offerings, and better than Red Lobster (except for the cheese rolls!) The staff was very friendly and the food was good. Give them a try!

Great place. Lunch filet of sole is wonderful for $9.99. Three pieces plus two sides and veggies. Best seafood place in Medford. 4 star food 5 star service and 6 star value

After a 7-hour road trip from Seattle and arriving 15 mins before they closed, this was a great way to end the evening! Colleen, our server was so kind and warm... and that was after 10 o'clock in the evening! The food was great- highly recommend the clam chowder appetizer, and the BBQ Salmon and Ribs for the main course. Great service, great place!

outside of big cities you can't expect to find some hidden jewel or perfection as is the case with this place. the food was fine, although I did find it interesting that each dish was basically a fat delivery system for some sort of sauce (sesame chicken app with a creamy honey mustard sauce, wood fired salmon with a lump of herb butter on top and some sort of cream dipping sauce on the side). the chicken was dry, the salmon was a bit fishy (so much for fresh NW salmon), and the wait staff (a bunch of teenagers) were nice though a bit scripted. overall the place was fine though if you are a true foodie you may not like this place.
