Came to eat here with my best friend mostly because she was starving, and we live close by! Overall I think this place is pretty good they have good service, and the food is decent depending on what you get! Everyone has different experience on everything! Me being Mexican, there beans taste very cheap. Otherwise everything else is great! The only reason I wouldn't put a 5 star is because it's not a WOW place, if you want Mexican I would've gone somewhere else if I would've had a car... food here's a pretty okay place to stop by everyone has a different experience, but the food is decently good!

Stumbled upon this place looking for a different restaurant. I had Mia's Shrimp, shrimp wrapped with bacon and fried, served with sauted onions, red and green peppers, drizzled with cheese and served with pico, sour cream, and guacamole. Excellent! !! Hubby ordered the Burrito Loco, filled with chicken and rice smothered with cheese, Lettuce, sour cream and pico. He said it was pretty good, but he has had better. The best part is the little dessert at the end, chip served with lime ice cream! The place is clean and quaint!

The mole and the seafood stew, 7 Mares, are terrific. The weekday lunch buffet is a good deal for the price.

Nothing horrible but my meal was a little bland. I often order Chile Rellenos at Mexican restaurants and this version was one of my least favorites.

I don't like this place very much. The service was below average, and the beans are lame. It's a pretty run of the mill Mexican food joint. Would rather go somewhere else. I suppose I would eat here if my life depended on it.

After spending a glorious day flying over the Dundee Hills vineyards, tasting wine and relaxing at the B&B, my group and I went on a quest to find a satisfying meal for dinner. A few people recommended a brewery, but it was closing 15 minutes after we got on the road. Luckily, El Primo was open! I didn't know what to expect because it's in the middle of nowhere and dark, but I'm so glad we didn't get to go to the brewery. Not only does the food taste the way I remember it from East LA, but their service is excellent and fast, the portions are huge and served on platters (2 meals per plate!) and, did I already mention that it's mui delicioso?! Damn, my mouth is watering... Fresh tortilla chips, runny refried beans, savory rice, crisp shells, amazing salsa... Everything tasted precisely the way I like my Mexican food to taste. The farm country birds' chirping woke me up at 5 am (fortunately), which is exactly when I walked over to the fridge and polished off the rest of my dinner from the night before. I had a craving for real Mexican food tonight, and if I hadn't been so tired, I woul've driven out to El Primo to get my fix. There really aren't enough good Mexican food restaurants in Portland. Me gusta El Primo, and the next time I'm in the wine country, I'm definitely stopping by.

I love going to El Primo. The staff is friendly, the food is authentic with generous portions. I've had several items on the menu, all GREAT! The drinks there are awesome too. In 13 years I've never had a bad experience here. The only thing that stopped me from giving them 5 stars is that there's another restaurant in town that I prefer more. :) Have no fear though, El Primo is my nephew's favorite so we'll continue to go back for good food!

Very nice polite employees. Very good service. Very good food. I wish they offered discount coupons like Mazatlan Restaurant does. I would go there more often.

Stopped here because of the yelp reviews, and was extremely disappointed. Food is bland and tasteless. Don't bother.

Wednesday, Cinco de Mayo, 2010 Party of Cinco dining this evening. It was packed! Service kept up. Dos in our party ordered the fajitas which came out on raised sizzling plates, each with a lit candle underneath. Smelled delicious! Another ordered the pollo del diablo. HUGE plate, strips of chicken covered in a spicy sauce, complete with requisite beans, rice, side of tortillas, some shredded lettuce and tomatoes. The cuarta persona ordered this huge burrito covered in red sauce. Looked pretty good. I had the beef fajita salad. Huge dollop of sour cream that I had to scoop off. Lettuce was cold and crisp. Shredded cheese, tomato, taco shell. Beef was only fair. Excellent chip/salsa and water replacement service. We asked for separate bills but received a single one. No worries. Happy hour 4-6pm in the bar area.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
