I love bread. I consider myself somewhat of a bread snob. I finally decided to go into Panera and I dont everwant to go anyplace else for a casual dinner or work lunch. I love the soups, the sandwiches and the pastries. (i only wish they had a gluten free option!) The service is so so friendly, quick, and quality. I love the way I am treated when I am there. I am always treated with respect, kindness and a smile. It does get busy around peak lunch and dinner times, but its worth it. I brought both of my children who took the liberty of being a little bit of a handful. The manager noticed they were needing my attention, so he helped me with my plates and brought them to the table for me. The service is sweet like that every time! I also recommend you try the Hazelnut coffee, the simple fruit pastry, and their sourdough loaf. its amazing and I get a loaf every timeI visit there!

Meh is a good description of this place. My partner and I waited eagerly for this establishment to open. I had eaten at several across the country and thought they were pretty good. We arrived on a Saturday around 1130 a.m. to a PACKED restaurant. Parking was atrocious! (As an aside, what engineering genius only built ONE entrance/exit to this place? When the parking lot is crowded, you can hardly get in and out safely. They need another egress point BADLY!). We entered the closest door which put us at the BACK of the place and we had to weave our way to the 'front' of the store which based on how it is situated should be the BACK, but I digress. There were several folks standing around all looking confused at the very large menus on the wall. As my partner and I approached the counter a young lady literally yelled at us: "CAN I TAKE YOUR ORDER?" She was yelling at us like someone would yell at you who recently came out of a loud venue and their hearing was impared! It was offputting. After placing the order we were given what appeared to be a tiny space ship and told it would buzz when our order was ready. We got our drinks and navigated the dining area to a small table. We had hardly sat down when the mini flying saucer sprung to life, lighting up, buzzing and vibrating across the table. My partner retreived our meal. I had ordered their spinach salad with french onion soup. I was underwhelmed. The salad was more layered than mixed with mushy bits in the bottom of the bowl topped by wilted spinach leaves that appeared to have not been washed. The soup was adequate but nothing of note. Price point was what I expected for the hype of the chain, but the food served didn't equate to the price charged. Will I go back? Probably, when the hype dies down I will give them a second chance, but really....get another entrance/exit, and figure out the flow of the customers.

My husband and I come here whenever we shop at Keizer Station. We know that we will both find something we like and it won't be too expensive. Because it is near shopping it can be hard to find a seat. So try to avid the peak lunch times. I recommend later in he lunch hours. The food comes out fast and the order is always correct. When we are feeling extra bad,we get the $1 pastry with our meal.

I don't know what all the hype is. My salmon sandwich was soggy and my salad had stale croutons. Way over priced.

Great bread, huge selection, several soups, good pastries. Yes, it is a franchise, but above average for ingredients and selections.

I've been a fan of panera since I lived back east. There bread bowl soups are very tasty. Also a good choice is the pick two. You pick two from half sandwich, half salad our cup of soup for 6.99. They also have a rewards program which I haven't figured out yet but I get discounts and free pastries occasionally.

Very busy but great friendly service! First tried this place in NM and have loved it ever since :) their grilled cheese sandwiches have improved greatly in the last year too.

Great food, price is OK, but the manager working the afternoon on 6/12 really wow'd me. never have I gotten such a warm welcome and great service in an establishment like this. they have a rewards program to boot. headed back again today for a great lunch.

We love this place! Salads are fresh, sandwiches are the bomb and the pastries....don't get me started on the pastries mmmmm. Nice to have a healthier choice for fast food and a good break from the norm.

Apparently this is where a the older golfers go to have coffee and a snack. I swear! I am the youngest person by at least 30 years, I'm one of the only ladies and most are wearing Bermuda shorts. I think this is the new place for old men to gather and catch up with one another.

Worst meal EVER! This past Friday night we ordered take out. We got home to find our grilled cheese sandwich was toasted only on one side. My turkey sandwich had so much mayo on it I couldn't eat it and the avocado that was sliced on it upon closer inspection was all black and spoiled. We've tried to support this place and every time we're totally disappointed. Definitely will never return again.

A wonderful meal as always from coast-to-coast The sandwiches are always amazing and the broccoli cheddar soup is always a delight

Worst panera I've ever visited. Unfortunately this is the only one close to my work, and my five trips have all been awful.

This is a nice Panera Bread. We discovered that they have a drive-through, which is a nice pit stop on the PDX-Salem slog. We ordered the kids a hot chocolate, and they were kind enough to split it into two cups for us (saving us money, and keeping the kids' wastelines in check!). Their wifi is also decent.

Took my fam for their first visit to a Panera, on our way home from Keiser Station. Everyone had soup and I tried the new broth bowl with the soba noodles & chicken. Amazing flavors, so much I was craving it again 2 day later.....so I went back.

Never have I received such a terrible meal, followed by horrendous customer service!everything was wrong, from missing items that were not replaced with anything, to brown lettuce in the salads and my favorite; a sandwich that was dripping in blood. Yes, blood. I used to love eating here, but ever since my last visit where everything was inedible and literally thrown into the trash, I will never return. I have been asking for my money back and was told I would get it...within 7-10 business days... It's past that time now. Panera should have gone above and beyond to fix this situation, I am only trying get my money back and I guess they can't even do that. All the company wanted to do was give me a gift card for my next visit. Trust me, there will never be one now.

I actually really like the chain in general, I used to live in the Midwest where there many more locations and the quality was much higher. Perhaps it is because this is a newer location but I have not been impressed. I always use their mobile order app and my order is consistently wrong or not ready. Usually it's small things like giving me bread instead of the apple I ordered, or a half portion of dressing on a full salad. What really ended it for me was my last two orders haven't been ready, so I sat in the lobby, assuming they would put it on the shelf any minute. After about 10 minutes I ask the staff for my order. They get their manager, who tells me it's been ready just not out on the shelf. And proceeds to "check my order" by pulling everything out of the bag and onto a counter filled with paperwork. No gloves, touching my bread slice and utensils, then repacking my bag. Obviously if I'm using the mobile order, I don't really want to interact with someone because I'm on my way home from a long day of work, definitely hangry. The first time this happened I assumed it was a fluke. The second time I realized it must be their policy if the customer'a order isn't ready. Hey corporate panera... FIX IT! Just have the staff grab my overpriced food so I can get the hell out!

I like this spot. Always something that leaves me without the guilt of other options. I really like their new flatbreads, soups and sandwiches. A bit pricey, but worth it to me. I even enjoy their kettle chips. Go early if you want a soufflé! Will return! The drive-thru is as efficient as expected and they have good coffee.

Usually good but first time at this location. My salad filled half the bowl and was limp. The temperature was set so low in the restaurant everyone was eating outside! Napa almond chicken salad sandwich was yummy.

5 stars considering it's "fast food". Slightly overpriced but very fresh and tasty and much healthier choices than other fast food joints. Always clean, friendly, quick. Have enjoyed the Greek salad (my fave), the Italian sandwich is wonderful. The soups are tasty. Why doesn't Dallas, OR have one???

It was great! We ordered different soups (tomato and a chicken cream) the drink I got was Chai tea. The Chai tea was amazing. It was different than the ones I had before, had a odd flavor but oh so very addicting. The pastries we got was tasty. It wasn't as crowded as what others in here has said. It was very cozy and very quiet. Maybe because it wasn't in the morning and a weekday? I don't know I would totally come back here again

Never been to a Panera Bread before. I ordered a cinnamon roll with extra frosting since it was in the afternoon and I assumed rightly that they had been sitting there all day long drying out. After I got the extra frosting on it and nuked it for a few seconds it was back to being just about perfect. It was no Cinnabon, but it was probably one of the best Cinnamon Rolls I have had other than Cinnabon. I would love to come back and try one of their salads or sandwiches.

This location has a drive thru, which I hadn't seen before in a Panera. Easy to see this place from the freeway, a little more difficult to find on the roads, but got the tasty meal I expected. Will probably use this place again if hungry on this stretch of the freeway.

This restaurant is overpriced for the portions. Kids options sub-par. Ultimately disappointing, even down to the taste of the pastries. Ordering process was stressful and chaotic. There are no lines, just a mob of people and cashiers calling for "next in line." One bonus: add on a pastry to a meal for an extra $1. Get a ticket to pick it up after your meal. Average food, but not impressive. French onion soup was lukewarm and the cheese was just sprinkled on top, not broiled like it has been at Panera restaurants I have been to in other states. The croutons in the soup were flavorful. Greek salad was such a small portion for the price. Sandwiches come without dressing (pick up packets of mayo and mustard at the bottleneck of a pickup and beverage area.) Kids meals were especially disappointing: a cup of Mac & cheese for $5, and it is served with a side of gogurt. Or, have a boring pb&j for just above $4--served on plain white bread. Even McD's gives kids a side of apples. We don't feel good about the options for children at this restaurant. Beverage bar has limited soda choices, but three different iced teas (freshly brewed, which is great) as well as an iced coffee option, which is a unique feature. Unfortunately the iced coffee tastes like a very dark burned roast. Hot tea options are Republic of Tea brand, which is really good, and there are about five hot coffee flavors. Pastry options look very impressive. We sampled five different pastries and were disappointed that they were dry -- looked good but tasted like two day-old. The prices seem overall a bit high for the amount of food you get. We won't be taking our whole family here again.

I love panera. It's a great and convenient place for fast meals. There's an array of healthy options that are all delicious. I'm a very big fan of their salads. I don't think the prices are to high. From a business stand point, they are one of the very few if not only fast food establishments that serve food with high quality ingredients. So you get what you pay for. This isn't McDonald's. I give this particular location three stars because, it never fails, they always forget ingredients in my salads. So make sure you check your food. They are great about fixing it though which I appreciate.

I've been a long time fan of Panera! My first visit was to one in Canton, Michigan. I couldn't wait until one opened up close to home. I visited on the first day and had quite a different experience compared to one other reviewer. The inside and outside looked great. Lots of signage and complimentary lighting. Definitely a step above most of the competition. Employees were quick to make contact and exceeded all of my expectations. The food options were clearly described and excellent. They answered my questions with a smile, eye contact, and great answers. The place looked great! Nothing on the floor, parking lot was clean, and there was an employee removing fingerprints from the front doors. When I asked how there could possibly be dirt on the windows after only opening hours earlier, she smiled and said "You'd be surprised". My to go order was quickly processed and the bread was fantastic! Again - Exceeded my expectations! Thank you.

Pretty good food. Being a former San Francisco area resident it's nice to see a place with bread on racks on the wall. Had a smoked turkey panini. It was pretty tasty. It's not quick though.

I had never heard of this place, like ever, but since it's new to Salem, I decided to give it a try... First off, I would suggest NEVER going during lunch time if you can help it. The restaurant was so packed, we almost couldn't find a table, and the parking lot was even worse! The line was long and ridiculous, people were just standing around and I wasn't sure if they were in line or just staring at all the pastries... Very confusing... Once it was my turn to order, I felt like the cashier was rushing me! I get it, it's busy, but gosh, i'd never been there before! The food was a major disappointment... I ordered the Chipotle Chicken panini and it was horrible! There was something off about it, not sure what, but it just didn't taste right. Definitely not worth the $8 I spent on it! I also ordered the Broccoli Cheddar soup, which unlike the sandwich, was very good! I might give it another go once the hype dies down... hopefully I'll have a better dining experience!

This is my favorite place to eat at Keizer Station. You can always get something healthy and it's delicious! If you want to be naughty there's an entire bakery that will make your mouth water. The service is great and if you say you don't like something or wasn't what you expected, they are very quick to make things right. We like to go on Tuesdays when you can get bagels by the dozen for a great price! And free wi-fi is nice if you want to hang out there and work! :)

As Paneras goes, it was pretty ordinary. But they do have a nice large patio that's shaded in the evening from the setting sun. Seating inside was compromised, though, with what appears to be less than the usual.

Well, a couple of things. They only sell Pepsi products -- the family would much prefer Coke products. When we received our food, we were shorted a bag of potato chips. The seasonal sandwich, Roast Turkey & Cranberry, really wasn't very good. The cranberry was a purple smear on one of the pieces of bread, and the turkey was not seasoned -- like eating wet pasta. We liked the soups -- French Onion and Creamy Tomato -- but they were served to bowls that were too large ... looked like the soup only filled one-third of the bowl. All and all I give it a three out of five. But we will return ... I appreciate that this location (1665) hasn't been open very long, and it takes time to iron out the wrinkles.

I heard this place was great, but I was pretty disappointed. When they give you a sandwich, it's dry. They ask you if you want mayo, but if you don't it's just a dry turkey sandwich. It's also overpriced for what you get. The soup bread bowls were good, but the soup they give you is really meager. Overall, not impressive, and I won't be back to Panera.

Panera Bread is a great place to dine or take to-go during the winter season. With hot soup and sandwiches, it is a great way to warm up and fill up. I would say that the pick-2 option is the best on the menu. For most places, 6.99 will get you a half sandwich and a cup of their signature soup. Broccoli cheddar is the best they have to offer--the chicken noodle is a little mediocre. Try the italian combo sandwich!

My son and I had dinner here tonight and Loved it ! Our soup in bred bowl was yummy . The only thing was there is only one driveway in and out of this parking lot and its hard to turn around.

Finally Salem gets a good chain restaurant/bakery! The breakfast soufflés are incredible. They are definitely my favorite thing to eat at panera. I just wish they served them all day, because I have trouble getting up early. I also love their signature salads (BBQ chicken one is amazing), and I usually hate eating salads. Their sandwiches are ok, most are pretty mediocre. I did really like the Cuban panini, so I suggest that one. Also the hazelnut cream cheese on almost any of their bagels is a must. Overall, great place to eat!

  • Zy X.

I wasn't at all impressed with their sandwiches and I thought they were a bit pricey for average/below average sandwiches. I swear I've had better sandwiches at Quiznos than here. And, Quiznos doesn't charge as much! I had a salmon sandwich, while my fiance had their club sandwich. One thing we really enjoyed were their pastries- SO GOOD!

I am not sure what the big deal is with this chain? The bland food? The obnoxious pricing for that bland food? The slow service? The mistakes they make? Or the POOR quality of ingredients and preparation. Stopped on my way through Salem for a quick bite after seeing all the commercials and being asked to by the missus (I guess she like P-Bread...don't know why). Ordered their Cobb Salad, Smokehouse Turkey Panini, BBQ Chicken Flatbread, and Clam Chowder...all told way more than I should have spent for lackluster food. Let's start with the mediocre first. Smokehouse Turkey Panini, meh, it was ok nothing to brag but was OK the bacon was limp and rubbery and the turkey was bland. Also, if there was sun dried tomatoes on this sandwich, they dried all the tomato out of those poor guys because the whole thing tasted like leftover turkey washed in tap water. Next the not so good. The BBQ Chicken Flatbread, so it was flatbread and I am guessing chicken (though not much of it), but that is where this went off track. The BBQ sauce was more tasteless than ketchup and I ended up putting Sweet Baby Rays on it just so it would taste like BBQ. I'll discuss the clam chowder later, however, the bread that was supposed to be included with my meal. The same bread that the drive through clerk grilled about what kind, was so light and airy that it almost seemed like it wasn't there. Because it wasn't there, they completely forgot it. Now the bad....ok, horrible. The Clam Chowder, much like everything else bland, but had the added benefit of undercooked potatoes. So the bland flavor is paired with the crunch of uncooked tubers...Awesome flavor profile by the way. And now the pièce de résistance, the Cobb Salad...not only was it flavorful but it tasted like old lettuce. Mistakenly, I took a few bites without looking at the salad thinking that with all the quality that this chain talks about in their ads, they would back those claims up....WRONG. The salad was indeed old. Possibly harvested last year's lettuce and included it in this gastronomical nightmare, much of the lettuce was wilted and had brown ends all over the place. So much for quality and taste...NEVER going back to this place. I would rather eat worms than go back to this chain...at least worms might be organic. Both of these items went into the trash partially eaten. Bonus...After eating what I did from this place, I was visiting the bathroom more than a bulimic fashion model. Only it was coming out the wrong end. Bon Apetit.

The Manfolk really likes Panera. This morning, a lot of other people did too. There were probably twenty people in line when we arrived. The staff opened up additional registers and took our order quickly. I like the two for two option they have that gives you options of soup, salad, pasta, etc., We both had the turkey avocado BLT. I had the lemon chicken orzo soup and the MF had broccoli cheddar. The sammys were tasty with large pieces of turkey. Fresh bread, tasty bacon and avocado. Yum. I wasn't a huge fan of my soup. His was good. I don't dislike Panera, but it's just not that special to me. Their menu is improving and the staff was nice. Did I mention bacon?

This review is for Panera Bread in general, no idea how they are in business. We went to the new location at the Woodburn outlet mall and it took them twice as long to get us our food as it did for us to be served a real meal at a sit down restaurant the day before. The food is not very good and there is very little of it. A half tuna salad meal consisted of about a tablespoon of tuna salad on two flavorless slices of white bread. The wait was long to order, the service was inadequate, the food was lackluster, the portions were tiny, the wait to get the food was inexcusably long for fast food, and the price is insanely high for what you get. For what we paid for two half sandwich meals we could have easily had two 6 inch subs at Subway and had better, faster service and much better quality of food. I'm actually suspicious of the quality of what we were served since we ordered different sandwiches and both of us ended up not feeling well that night and the next day. That was the only meal out we had that day. In short, I would advise avoiding the entire chain, I know I will be. Slow can be situational based on staffing level and number of customers. The quality and quantity of the food and the value for your money are not situational. Paying more for less is just stupid so unless they slash all prices in half and improve the quality no more Panera Bread for me or anyone in my house.

They were sold out of chocolate pastries! Our party of three were ready for lunch. This was a known sandwich/soup chain and the pastry offerings were a draw. What a disappointment to not be able to enjoy a chocolate dessert. We were not expecting such a limited bakery selection when we arrived shortly after 1:00 pm. FOOD Bowl of Vegetable Soup with side of half a baguette Turkey & Ham Sandwich, whole, with just lettuce, on potato bread Half sized Chicken Hummus Bowl with gluten free side substitute of a small apple Our choice of one bakery product at 99 cents with purchase of a soft drink was a cinnamon roll DRINKS Cup of coffee and a soft drink Our food was prepared nicely, breads fresh, soup tasty, sandwich as ordered, nice combination of chicken with the hummus. While awaiting our food, I walked over to look at the Marie Dorian kiosk sign we passed when driving in, on the footbridge located away from the restaurant's drive through window. Up close, the sign leads the curious to an information sign. Marie Dorian was a pioneer who actually lived for a time in the Walla Walla and Spokane areas. I did not quite figure out why this special memorial kiosk was located near Salem. nps.gov/whmi/historycult…
