Stopped in the day after Christmas on our way back to Bend. The location of this place is adorable and I have always wanted to stop. Too bad I left so disappointed. When we arrived there wasn't a soul in the place so we nabbed a seat by the wood stove. This was really awesome. The ambiance is really nice- lodge, snow falling and a river rushing out the back window. That gets 5 stars for sure. We ordered breakfast- Chicken Fried steak came with just a small amount of country gravy and nothing to call home about. The potatoes were clearly Cisco right from the freezer. I had an omelette-not too shabby. We were hoping for a little more of a home-cooked meal though, not straight from the freezer. I suppose that's asking a lot of a small place on the side of the highway. The service is what really irked me. After we arrived, many others did as well. There was only one gal waiting tables and it was clearly too much for her. I ordered a soda for 2.29 and never once got a refill. We also needed another side of country gravy and it never arrived. This is because after our food was dropped off, we never saw her again until she finally met us at the front so we could pay our check. IF we ever go again, we'll stick with burgers because those are safe. I will also just ask for a pitcher of water in case we are never checked on again. I hate leaving such a negative feedback, but we were disappointed. We spent $28 on breakfast that was so so and serviced that sucked.
We stopped here on the way back from a camping trip. Food was good, nothing spectacular but tasty and filling. I was happy that the menu included a smaller portion chicken fried steak breakfast. I love chicken fried steak, but usually don't want the giant portion. Decor was fun, lots of cool taxidermy. Service was pretty good, we didn't wait long for food and our coffee cups were kept full. The view is definitely the best part. It's right on the river. Even though it was a bit too chilly to sit on the deck during our visit we were still able to enjoy the view through the large windows. I will stop here again.
Food was great! Wonderful rustic setting with lots of cool decorations including some outstanding taxidermy! The staff and owners are very friendly and seem glad to have you stop in! We had chicken strips and the fish n chips and both were as fresh as can be! Marion Forks also has a bar with a great view over looking he river from the upstream side and the restaurant has a view of downstream! I highly recommend stopping by here if your passing through or if your in the area. Best food you could get in the Santiam canyon!
