They were pretty good. Their salsa and chips were really good and their guacamole was fantastic. The service was excellent (we were at a memorial dinner upstairs and our server was Melinda) and the food was pretty standard (but good, not greasy) mexican food. I loved the shredded chicken in the build your own taco buffet. Usually I'm not a fan of spanish rice, but theirs was so tasty! I didn't get any alcoholic drinks, but my brother in law did, he ordered a large beer and didn't realize exactly how large 32 oz was. Decent price for that much beer. I got their fried ice cream, beware, the service size is big enough for an entire table of 4. Pretty good experience, though. Beautifully decorated, very modern, good prompt service with a friendly waitress. If I'm ever in that area again, I'll be back.

The ambience is nice and the service was fantastic. I found the food to be uninspired and over-priced. I felt like I was eating at a Mexican-American restaurant 15 years ago. We had a taco salad, a cheeseburger and an $11 tostada. The cheeseburger was the best plate.

Ok, so first off, I gotta give a big shout out to the bartender Edgar! He definitely saved our night! We will most likely be back for drinks. But as far as the rest of the service goes.... We sat down in the bar eating area and it took at least 15mins just to get our menus, but it seemed to be going ok after that, until our food came and I guess our waitress left...or something, we didn't see her the rest of the night. We needed chips, and tortillas etc. and we had to go up to the 7 or so people running around doing I don't know what, and ask for it. Then when we were finished we sat for about 20mins until we finally just went up to the bar and had him cash us out. He was very friendly and apologized that our waitress skipped out. This is not the first time I've had this experience here, too many waitresses and not enough service. I'm not saying we won't go back, but hopefully they get their act together the next time we're there. On a side note, the food was good for American Mexican food but definitely overpriced. But the drinks made up for it.

I'll start with what they do right. Happy hour - cheap margaritas and cheap appetizers. Complimentary chips and salsa. Salsa is decent. The guacamole is good. Now with what they don't do well. Their entrees are terribly over priced for Mexican food and the food is average at best. My advice: only go for happy hour.

The servers were OK. One of them seemed pretty standoffish. The second one we had seemed better (Not sure why we had two?) The food was OK. Some better than others. The pulled pork taco meat was tasteless. The carne asada was dried out. Would not order that again. Food was a bit pricy for what you get. I would probably try them out again and try different menu items. They do happy hour all day on Sunday, so that's a plus.

2 stars, only because the restaurant is nice and food is just okay. Over priced, and small servings compared to other places. Food always takes like an hour. Mixed drinks are basically a Virgin drink. Waste of money, just order juice. Every server I've had usually gets my order wrong. Order fajitas with ZERO veggies on any of the plates. They always give me veggies.

They ran my credit card for an extra $8 on a $20 bill. What a rip off. Never going back, this is a circus full of clowns!

Timbers supporters!!!! A great place to catch the game. RCTID! The food is good. Better beer selection than the 4th Street Brewpub (ironically). A bit of a party atmosphere in the bar. Honestly a good fit for the location. All in all, a great replacement for the brewpub.

Love this place. Owners and staff are friendly and Customer service is great. Food and cocktails are yummy. Happy Hour is the best! Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Hello mexican and goodbye 4th St. Brewing. Was never impressed by 4th St. food. They still have their tvs people so calm down on places to go for watching sports. They also do support the games so they will have specials for that. You can tell everyone is trying to learn the menu and working out the kinks. I give them that too. We were able to get a chile relleno even though it was not on the menu. They also said their food is not frozen but fresh and made to order so have patience while you wait for it. It did not seem to take that long. And lots of chips and salsa flowing as well. Salsa actually had a little heat which is a nice touch. Happy hour menu though the prices on the regular seem reasonable as it is. Portions are pretty decent. All in all, it's another average american-mexican restaurant within proximity of a least 2 others. This one seems to be more of a party affair though, fiesta flavor. The food should go nicely with some Seahawks playing.

This is the first time I have eaten here and I am a little let down. I ordered some kind of a seafood soup. Sorry I can't remember the name. My girlfriend ordered the carne Asada. The seafood was very heavy on the cilantro and tasted very fishy. I was surprised that they called the skirt steak carne because it tasted like unmarinated steak that they seasoned with salt and pepper while it was on the grill. Over all the wait staff was attentive and friendly but I would not recommend the food.

I'm from Texas and was a little suspicious when my friend (also from Texas) and his fiance decided to have their rehearsal dinner here. Boy was that unfounded. Great food, excellent (and I mean excellent...) margaritas and incredible service from Betty. Thanks so much for making it a wonderful night. Cheers!

My experience here was infuriating. We had to ask for water then we had to ask if we could have two salsas instead of one. The food is way over priced! My hubby and I ordered fajitas for two. When we got our food they only gave us one plate that had watery refried beans, tasteless gauc, a little bit of sour cream and Spanish rice. They gave us only enough fajita mixture to make three 5 inch flour tortilla buritos. Then they decided to charge us 17.99 for that! I was still hungry after we left the place. If I had known my experience there would have been so bad I would have just gone to la carreta they serve you enough delicious food to even take leftovers home at a more reasonable price. Save your money and go some place else. Service: 7 Food: 1 Pricing: 1

Good food, good portions and good drink selection. Prices were average to slightly higher than most. Service was friendly and speed was decent. The atmosphere was okay but crowded in the big bar section. We went on a Friday night which likely was the cause of service delay and how crowded it was (which wasn't too bad but usually Mexican places are pretty quick). Restrooms were clean. Good mole sauce if you're a mole fan. Drinks were good and strong. Good selection of beers on tap. We were happy they had Rogue Dead Guy Ale. They had a small outdoor seating section by entrance but it was awkward because if I had people coming and going from the busy place as I enjoyed my meal, I wouldn't feel relaxed. We will go again.

  • Katie B.

Overpriced, the wait staff are wonderful however there is a huge disconnect between them and the kitchen! The fajita salad was crappy shredded lettuce with a mound of greasy onions, I couldn't find any green peppers, the meat was well done (ordered med rare). So disappointing! I sent that back and ordered the carne asada, the meat was good but the rice, again with the grease? Ick!! I will never go back

  • Mandy S.

The salsa (spicy) and chunky guacamole here are really good. The decor is more modern which I really appreciate. The food is delicious but a little overpriced in my opinion. I love their margaritas also. The only major issue I have is that they always seem to be understaffed and the bartender or another waitress ends up bringing our food and drinks because our initial waitress is too busy. Of course that is no fault of the staff but rather a management issue.

    (4)
  • Traci O.

This place has a nice upbeat atmosphere. I love the chunky guacamole and fun drinks. I really love the margaritas! And the dinners are good as well. We would love more variety of hot sauces. Good service too.

Stopped here with my sister since we had never been. The food was great (we had Fajitas). The service was great and the prices were great.

Food was great. Service was amazing, Javier was our waiter and he went above and beyond. Friendly and when my wife spilled one of her margarita samplers he got her another one no charge and was quick to clean up the mess. This will be our go to spot for Mexican food and amazing drinks. Perfect margarita was so good. Watermelon I hear from my wife (I'm allergic) was heavenly .

  • Maria Y.

If you like margaritas this is a good place to go, they have a variety of flavors in huge glasses. Also good Mexican food and friendly staff. Would go again

  • Theresa C.

Over priced and mediocre. And the drink menu doesn't even have prices. The salsa is passable, the chips (when they are warm) are quite good. They get kudos for pretty good service most of them time but raspberries for just not good food with a weird menu and difficulty finding what I wanted a la carte. Happy hour is really the only time to bother going here.

  • Amy W.

It's really sad because the food here is really good but the service sucks!! To be fair there are a couple of girls that are nice and helpful but unfortunately I have not gotten them the last few times I've been there. Hopefully management reads these reviews and makes better hiring decisions in the future because I'm clearly not the only one to complain about bad service here.

  • Kelli R.

Bad! Waited 5 minutes to be seated then offered a table with a broken light. When asked if the light worked the waitresses looked at me like I had asked for a golden spoon. Food was not good and over priced. My husband described it as a step up from taco bell. Drink order and food order came out wrong. We never knew who our waitress was because 4 different people tried to take our order. Felt like some stole 50 bucks from us. We are patrons of downtown Gresham often but will never come again.

Awesome place for drinks and watching a game! However, the food is terrible! Kind of sort of an expensive taco bell. But like I said, good for drinks only!

Great addition to Gresham....great food and menu, great service, great location, and great place to meet friends to watch a sporting event on large flat screen televisions....lots of free parking, too.

I went here because three of us agreed to check out Mojave, which appears to be a happening spot in the revitalized historic core of Gresham. Based on our party's experience, I'd give them 2 stars (I will explain) but will bump them up to 3 stars, giving them the benefit of the doubt. First, the name Mojave fetched interest. Mojave is the eerie sprawling desert northeast of Los Angeles and which is one heck of a counterpoint to the metropolis on the other side of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is also a species of rattlesnake you don't want to be messing with because it is reportedly more toxic than the others. So, for three Californians, the place seemed appropriate. From the outside, Mojave is modern and inviting. Street parking is easily found. The interior is also nicely finished. The sports bar, seen upon entering, sits in a double-story space and the restaurant seating area, which is attractive, is in a one-story area and many seats offer views to the outside. As for the food, it was very good. Each of the three lunch entrees - a combination of 2 items, fish tacos, and a large burrito with Colorado style shredded beef - met with hearty approval. I couldn't gauge how the others felt about the accompanying items. As for me, I felt that the rice was very flavorful but the beans were sort of flat. The chips were fine, as was the salsa. While not a big deal, the salsa tended toward the middle of the spiciness range. They could offer a choice of two salsas as do a lot of other Mexican restaurants. So, then, what went wrong? A minor issue was the service. We were basically told to sit anywhere and then our order was taken expediently and the food was also delivered quickly. However, the general approach was sort of pert, too familiar, and we had to then "negotiate" a misunderstanding on the final tab. That dovetails into the second issue. The pricing of one meal got skewed extremely disproportionately because of a customization request. It was to the point of being ridiculous. With a restaurant that wasn't crowded, the waitress was going to play hardball on her own. In reality, I wanted the manager involved because he needed to be in touch with the customers and with what the issue was. At first, he was defensive but then saw where we were coming from and it was resolved. I was both miffed and amused. I was miffed because this situation even transpired and I was amused because the waitress's attitude took me back to growing up fairly close to the beach in Los Angeles where I had seen this same attitude in restaurants before! In short, they need to rebalance their pricing scheme and, as for specific items, a combination with 3 items in addition to 1 or 2 would be a good idea. Most Mexican restaurants offer that. This place occupies a niche. In this tight geographic area, they are the de facto stand-alone and slightly more upscale Mexican restaurant whereas Bocelli's and Nicholas occupy the same niche for Italian and Middle Eastern food, respectively. We mused that we should have gone to Bocelli's, where the service has always been seamless. As for Mojave, the food, though somewhat Americanized, is indeed good. Just cross your t's and dot your i's when ordering and make sure you're on the same page with the staff. I might just need a cooling off period before going back there.

The Prickly pear Margarita is amazing and I highly recommend the happy hour. Portions for happy hour are huge. The staff is very friendly, just a little scantly dressed at times for younger kids. But overall, good for large groups, and never a long wait time.

  • Chelsi B.

Food is bomb that get a 5 star, service 2 star, service sucks! Asked for napkins and waited forever for them, told the server again and she replyed she didnt forget, that she just didnt bring them.... Wtf! Waited forever for more chips and salsa. 3rd time ive been here, and the service is always really crappy! I think they need to retraine their servers, and higher more.

Good food. Good scenery if you know what I mean. I don't know where they found all these nice waitresses.

Service was awful. The tea tasted as if it had been sitting for over 3 days. The food was mediocre at best. The employees were messing around and being louder than the other guests. And once your server is gone, don't expect them to come back and check on you. I also can't believe the music (not Mexican, but it was the unclean version of someone's Pandora). Not to mention, our server was dressed in an outfit more fitting for a strip club bartender. I will NEVER spend my money here again.

Absolutely the worst meal & service I've had in a very long time. I came in on a Thursday night at 9pm & sat at the bar. It was not busy at all. Unfortunately that didn't stop the bar tender from taking over 5 minutes to come take our drink order. After ordering it took another 5 minutes to get 2 beers. The servers and bartender (5+of them) were too busy cleaning glasses to seem to care. After another 5 min we had to ask for water. Meantime we ran out of chips & salsa ( never refilled!!!). When we got the lack luster food, it was just warm. Not good at all, especially for the price. I've had better food at Taco Bell!!! To top it off, "Computer issues"added to a long wait to even get our bill. Which by the way, I only got after placing my card on the table and waiting close to 7 minutes. I will not be back. There are plenty of places near by with much better food & service! Try one of them and don't waste your time!!! BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!

One Star would be VERY GERNEROUS! My friend and I were looking forward to trying Mojave Grill for the first time but our entire experience was disappointing... We were seated quickly but as for the rest of the service, it was slow and in the end we ended up having at least five different people waiting our table! After being there a few minutes, we had to ask for water, then it took forever and had to ask someone else walking by... Seriously! After looking over the menu, we ordered some drinks but they never came! After a rediculously long time one of the guys came to our table to see if everything was ok, we asked if our drinks had been forgotten and he went to check. He came right back to our table with three other people serving our dinner... Our drinks FINALLY came out WITH OUR DINNER :( We split the Arroz Con Pollo... It was edible but very dry, not much sauce just chicken, cheese and rice... The flour tortillas were totally out of a bag. One of the tortillas must have ripped in half coming out of the bag but they served it anyway, not to mention they were barely even warm! We also ordered a little side of refried beans & cheese. The beans came out slightly warm and we had to ask for them to be heated up so the cheese would melt... While in the middle of dinner, the waitress brought us our check and with food on our plate and fork in hand she cleared the table without even asking if we were finished!I HAVE NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN BEFORE! We were ready to pay, had our cards hanging out the top of the pmt folder but our server never came back! After a few minutes another girl came by and offered to process our pmt... Overall it seems like the wait staff spends more time getting ready for work than the effort put into their service... For the $20 bucks spent on half a dinner here, I could have gone to Uly's and had WAY better EVERTHING!

I've been here twice. Over priced for the quality and taste of their food. Taste like cheap white mexican wanna be food. Service sucks. . Not attentive at all from the time you walk in. Would never refer this place to anyone looking for good mexican food.blah!

This is my FAVORITE place to eat in Gresham! Service is always onpoint and food is always fresh and quick. The wait staff is always polite and attentive. Drinks are flavorful and well priced! Me and my boyfriend always get the chunky guacamole and are never disappointed on the freshness and great taste. All In all I'm a regular and have never had a bad experience with any of the staff or food. I don't know what any of those upset people were talking about. Great place, great food, great staff!!!!!

  • Jesse E.

Ok, so I have been here about 4 times now... The service is always great, and the food is always very tasty... Love the salsa, but the chips are usually stale and just overall a disappointment; especially when the salsa is perfect. Which brings me to my main complaint; the "perfect margarita"... They make their own margarita mix and use fresh limes, but then they ruin the whole thing with monarch Tequilla! Yuck... I'm sure most people will love it and not know the difference, but come on, a Mexican restaurant making a "perfect margarita" with monarch Tequilla? I also wasn't impressed with the arrogant response when mentioned my displeasure with monarch... The waitress said I could upgrade the Tequilla, but I was annoyed at this point and wasn't willing to pay $4 more to turn the so called "perfect margarita" into the real deal... There's much better Tequila for a small increase in cost to them. I guess it's just the perfectionist in me, but I felt ripped off. @mojave - just use the $7.99 from the first margarita and use those chips to buy some sauza or something better than monarch! This will make people feel like you have some standards at least, and care about what you serve vs looking like you are only out there to make money... I love the place and the food and while they are new, they are doing a pretty good job. I think with a couple minor tweaks, they can dominate the competition in the area... I like the food enough to go back and I may update this review later... I'm only giving it 3 stars because I go to a Mexican restaurant for food and DRINKS. But as it sits, there are better options... Check out 7 mares on Powell or blue agave... You won't find shitty monarch products in either one of those places because..... They have standards. And the food is just as good...

Meh, bleh, nothing to write home about...how many ways can I say that the food was edible (not spoiled) but lacked any flavor. I was amazed no hot sauce at each table..you really needed to add something to the food to get any zip. Chile Verde was so bland. Really disappointed in their food. I will not be back. Oh, and please people, EASY on the perfume and cologne. When you serve the public, we really do not want to smell your perfume as you walk by our table!

OMG.. Finally a mexican restaurant in Gresham that gets it!! The staff is well trained, polite, and very attentive. I watched the owner Betty work with her people and was very impressed. I had the vegetarian quesadilla which was delicious. The large portion of fresh tortilla and lots of tasty veggies full of flavor !!! This is a must visit soon place.!!! I am coming back again this Friday for a birthday lunch and will see if I have the same experience..

I don't write that many reviews, but I was here tonight for the second half of the Timbers game. Unfortunately the Timbers lost, but my experience at Mojave was terrific. It was about half full which I consider "reasonably" crowded in the sports bar for a Sunday evening, and I was greeted by a friendly staff member before I could even take my seat at the bar. Although the bartender who was helping me was plenty attentive, throughout my visit, at least four employees checked on me to ask if I needed anything or if everything was okay. The bartender was friendly and chatted periodically, as I came alone to watch the end of the aforementioned game. Let me tell you, Gresham is lacking (even when this was 4th street) in a quality sports bar where the atmosphere isn't "party dance club" or "loud cover band" or "mellow beer drinker only. Trust me, like those places also but a true place to kick back and watch the game was missing. Not anymore. The food was great, house salsa with the perfect amount of heat. Perfectly cooked shrimp. Interesting and creative drink options (didn't even know this was possible with staples like margarita), and Jell-O shot on the house when the timbers score! Very fun. Only reason I rated four instead of five stars is I consider five stars perfect. Perfect. I can't lodge any serous complaints here without sounding stupid so I'll leave it at saying Mojave isn't "perfect," but they are really really good. Much better than what came before.

Do not eat here. They charge extra for pork, sour cream, guacamole, and bean dip for the chips. Our food took forever to get to us and when it did, it was cold. Go to a Mexican restaurant that actually knows what they're doing. This place is a joke and a complete waste of time and money.

    (1)

Been here twice during happy hour. Good prices, great food (tastey beans and real cheeses, chips and dip are amazing!) and the margaritas on point! Love it! Best mexican food in town hands down.

What a disappointment to show up to 4th Street Brewing and see it changed five days earlier to a Mexican restaurant! But since we were already there, we had to give it a try. Service was slooooow. Slow to take our order (we wondered if anyone was even working there), slow to get our food, slow to get a to-go box, slow to get our check. It was not busy at all, and there seemed to be plenty of wait staff. Beer selection is decent for a Mexican restaurant, but really lacking for an Oregon restaurant (especially one that used to be a microbrewery). I think there were two micros on tap. Food was average. That's probably being generous. The chips tasted like they came from a bag. The salsa was fresh but just ok. No chipotle Tabasco, Tapatio or Cholula at the table (or salt and pepper for that matter). I definitely won't be back. What a seriously epic loss for Gresham.

My new favorite Mexican restaurant! Ate there last night on a very busy Saturday night. The place was packed. Very fun atmosphere in the bar, the service was wonderful. The food was awesome! Love this place and I will be back a lot!

Food was extremely salty...assuming a cover up for the blandness of the lack of flavor! Received a sticker along with my food, when sent back I got attitude. Service was horrible. Consistently ignored by staff, especially when trying to pay the bill. Margarita was ok, but nothing special. Got a horrible stomach ache, and other unmentionables, for hours after eating. Overall a horrible experience that I probably could have spun into an ok experience had the service been better! I had heard just great reviews from people-hugely disappointed.

    (1)
  • Robert H.

I stopped in for what I thought would be a quick lunch on election day and ordered the chicken tortilla soup. 50 minutes later I received the soup which was so bland I had to dump the salsa dish into it to give it some flavor. The service was good which is why I give it two stars. All in all, the soup plus the drink and tip amounted to $12 I wish I could have back.

A go to for date night (for my husband and I). I really enjoy Mexican food and I LOVE margaritas. When in doubt...my husband and I choose Mojave. The "small" Perfect Margarita is always plenty (think a bowl not a glass/cup) however the sampler is a great one to share with a partner in crime. We tend to share the Carne Asada with The Works which I normally do not eat unless prepared by my father--it's ALWAYS satisfying. I've also had the Chicken Con Mole which was satisfying and lovely as well. The waitresses are always friendly and attentive. We've only had one unpleasant interaction with a hostess (our very first visit)--we assume she was having a rough day because the next time we visited and she was at the front, she was very pleasant. All in all, we will be back and would recommend Mojave for an easy going place for Margaritas. Our goal next time is save room for the fried ice cream per the recommendation of our waitress.

We tried Majave for a late night dinner recently and have no plans of going back. As others have mentioned, the chips were stale and served with a teeny tiny bowl of salsa. Wait, was that salsa or tomato sauce? Our service was lackadaisical and not once were we asked if we wanted more chips or another margarita. Speaking of the "perfect" margarita, it wasn't anything special and far from perfect. On a side note their drink menu doesn't even show their prices. Why?! We ended up ordering the signature super nachos to split because we didn't want to pay $13.00 for a basic burrito-why pay that when you can go to one of the hundreds of Taquerías and get something twice as good for 1/2 the price?! The nachos were "blah" and those refried beans tasted like the came out of the can. They give you about 1 tablespoon of guacamole and sour cream and will nickle and dime you to death at any opportunity. Read the fine print! Overall I just think that with so many options with Mexican food that there is nothing about this place that makes them stand out and they are overpriced for mediocre Mexican food!

Decent place but has more of the franchise feel to it than a locally owned Mexican food place. Been about 4 times and never have been impressed with the service. All the girls wear short skirts (every time I've been there) and have even had one of the waitresses roll her eyes at my friend when she asked a few questions about the menu. Their chunky guacamole was really good the first time I went! It was meant for the whole table to share but I actually ate it all and we had to get another. Got it the second time I went there and it was not the same.. Maybe they thought I ordered something else? I wasn't impressed with the happy hour chicken quesadilla the third time I went. For $6 it was so-so. I think if they added some more personality to the place, food, and service, it could become a great Mexican food place for Gresham. Until then, I don't really think I'll go there when I'm craving Mexican food.

Food was good, except for the service. The waitstaff assumed we didn't speak English and proceeded to excuse their ignorance as if it was an insignificant misunderstanding. Not only was this disrespectful, it took more than 20 minutes to acknowledge this inappropriate error. Because of this, I don't think we will ever come back to this restaurant. In my opinion, the staff needs cultural competency training.

There is absolutely no dish in your entire life that could prepare you for the Chunky Guacamole at Mojaves Grill & Cantina, the guacamole had a fresh, lemony taste and had the most perfect texture to it. And the desserts were to DIE FOR. Literally. The deep fried ice-creams were the perfect size to still be able to finish after the main course. The waitresses were polite, attentive and our food came out relatively quickly. Would recomend as a family friendly restaurant.

If you want to waste your money on crap food this is the place. I just spent $28.50 for two street tacos and a fajita with no drinks. Yes, you read that right almost thirty bucks for rubbery fish that has now given me a stomach ache and rice out of a box. My husband had the fajitas and the tomatoes were literally white. My advice? Chuy's less money and better products plus you don't have to deal with the strippers.

To start with the food was very good. Some of the best Americanized Mexican food I've had in quite some time. Our entire table enjoyed the food and multiple people liked the steak. Personally I decided to try the mole chicken expecting to be under whelmed. I was not disappointed as the flavor was complex and not sweet which is something I've come to expect with some places. As for the service, excellent. The staff was very attentive and punctual throughout the evening.

As a child I was saw the world with so much wonder and awe, the world was such a big place, there were so many mysteries to be carefully analyzed and solved. After a long day of exploration and expanding one's mind I was always hungry and would come home to fresh, home cooked meals courtesy of my mother. It was the feeling of "wholeness" in her food that stuck in my mind for years to come, as no fast food ever had that fulfilling feel to it when consumed. After coming to Mojave, which ironically was a recommendation from my mother, I was at a loss of words. They may be somewhat pricey, but sweet baby jesus, that GUACAMOLE. I am not a man of God but DAMN this guacamole must have been crafted by none other than Zeus himself! It wasn't nearly as chunky as the picture on the menu made it seem, however, the textures and flavors of the guacamole made up for that and more. The service was pretty good, but in all honesty, I came for the food not the service. On another note, there were a few people in the bar who smelled strongly of "herbs" and I think its great that Mojave accepts it with the new recreational laws coming in June. Hopefully someday there will be a Mojave on every corner, keep Oregon green!

The food was OK for a Mexican restaurant. I don't quite understand the employee dress code though. We witnessed several waitresses with their long hair down, not in a pony tail, and they were playing with it. The same waitresses delivering food. Kind of gross.

So here is the deal. The first time I came here was shortly after it opened. I came for happy hour. The price for happy hour drinks was good. It was nice and hot out so I sat outside. The server greeted us, brought out the drinks and chips, and then kind of disappeared for a while. When she finally came back, I asked for water and she forgot. It wasn't a huge deal the first time, servers have lots to do. I ordered the taquitos, and asked for water again when she came back. The tacquitos were pretty good, but again no water. She was gone so long after that I asked a different server for my check, and walked home in a heated sweaty daze. I don't like my drinks with a side of dehydration and heat stroke. A very important side note here... the servers were dressed so scandalously that it made me feel dirty. I don't want any dead skin cells from a short backless dress sloughing off in my food. Eww. When I first sat down I wasn't sure if I was there for food or to experience the new red light district in Gresham. So do you think I learned my lesson the first time? Sorta. Uly's was closed and some friends and I wanted to try some nice tequilas so we decided to see what Mojave had to offer. We sat at the bar and I am pleased to say that this bartender was fully clothed. In the end we weren't impressed with the tequila selection, and found it to be much more expensive than Uly's. We had two shots, paid our tab, and went home. I think this is the closing of the book for me on Mojave.

We had a great experience here the other night. Not seeing any mention of the nachos, which we enjoyed very much. Yes, a little spendy, but any time I have to order more chips to scoop up the last of the nacho toppings, I am impressed. Our service was very good.

From the outside, Mojave looks like it would be a great place to eat. Prompt seating as we walked in the door but that's where the good experience ended. Upon being seated, our server brought a coloring menu for our daughter, with no crayons. We also didn't get any water until we requested it, after ordering and receiving drinks. Margaritas are a little over priced. The margarita flavor was off. It was over poured, which I don't mind, but the actual margarita flavor didn't taste like margarita. It tasted a bit like watered down tequila with a little bit of lime. Our server brought out chips and salsa, but the chips weren't very good and salsa portion was tiny. Our waitress offered us guacamole for our chips and we agreed that we would like some. If we had known that the guac was $7, I would have said no to that one avocado with no additional flavoring. We decided what to eat and placed our order. When the food arrived, it came on burning hot plates. The plates were so hot we could not hold either of the two taco's, which ended up costing $15.95...for two taco's and some Spanish rice. Who charges almost $16 for two tacos?!? Mojave does! The flavor of the tacos was way off. I come from a Mexican family and I can say from a lifetime of eating Mexican food that these taco's didn't have good Mexican flavor. I ordered a carne asada burrito. Again the flavor was way off. There was a brown sauce poured over the top that reminded me of gravy, and a tiny portion of sour cream and even smaller portion of guacamole, on the side of the plate. After finishing the meal, we asked for the check. I Placed my card with the bill and the waitress took it away. When she returned I said, "I forgot to ask, do you offer a military discount?" She replied, "We do offer a discount, I think its 10% or something, I would have giving it to you if you had asked before. Next time you come in, tell me before you get the bill and I will give you a veterinarian discount." VETERINARIAN DISCOUNT"?!?! I am not a veterinarian, although I did fight in a war in Afghanistan when I was a corpsman with the Marines. Although I understand we all live in very different worlds, and we don't all have respect for our nations military, I felt disrespected and dissatisfied. Not to mention that our bill was $61 for two adults and our four year old child. Needless to say we will not return to Mojave. I justify the one star rating with the prompt service we received at the door. The rest of the experience rated no stars. The bottom line is the service was slow, we had to ask for the basics that should always be given automatically by any good restaurant (like water), nothing tasted as it should (except our daughter's kid's meal mac-n-cheese and the tiny portion of salsa) and everything was over priced. I hope the next restaurant that replaces this one will be better.

So far, so good! Whether it's big platters of enchiladas or chile rellenos or a refreshing draft beer or margarita (strong!), my two experiences so far have been great at this place. Service has been good, even on a busy Friday night! Keep up the good service this summer, guys! We ate outdoors and avoided the 35-minute wait and the inside noise. That's my tip for Agave!

It was hard for me to give a one star. I found that the food that I got was great BUT the service was TERRIBLE! Went in for lunch with a coworker, we have an hour lunch, there were only four other groups there, of two to three people, one group being other coworkers of ours. It took us a half hour to flag down the waitress in which time she chatted with other guest and giving out phone numbers. When we finally were able to get our food, in which she told another waiter to get for us, we had only fifteen minutes to scarf down our food. Even that turned out wrong because she hadn't written our order down, we would've returned it but we didn't have enough time to bother with it. Also the price of food for lunch isn't too bad, I've seen better but the dinner prices are crazy. So over all for a new business who should be trying to make good impressions on their guests to make sure we come back, it was a gigantic failure. I'd like to eat the food again but I wouldn't bother with the terrible service.

Was there to try out pork tacos, looked good in photo tasted Gross! We spent 40 plus for enchilada sauce tasting food, and the food looked like it came out of a can. For a so called Mexican restaurant I would be very embarrassed to have delivered this crap to any person. Asked if everything was cooked in enchilada sauce the waitress said i don't think so. I love how things taste and walked away. Don't ask her how thing taste yuck!!!!

Greeted immediately, sat by a window. Waitress came immediately and offered best margarita in town AND IT WAS. I loved their salsa. The pork tamale was great and the rice and beans were not from a can. The flan was worth saving room for. It was the best I have had in the USA. Second only to Spain. Very rich. Very. I have read mixed reviews about this place but as for me I will be going here from now on.

First time visiting this place after the change to a Mexican Food restaurant. We were impressed with both the wait staff and the food. We were seated promptly in the Sports Bar area and quickly offered drinks while we decide on food. The only real disappointment were the "Best Margaritas In Town" turned out to be basically average with not much Tequila in them. The food was hot, fresh and large portions (leftovers for lunch tomorrow). The chicken in the Fajita Burritos was freshly grilled and nicely seasoned (not like a lot of Mexican places that use the boiled bland chicken). Prices were a bit on the high side for a Mexican place but not outrageous. We will definitely come back.

We are so pleasantly surprised by Mojave! They did a great job redesigning the 4th Street location, the staff is great, and the food is delicious! Huge variety, very fresh and authentic. Tons of drink choices and the Top Shelf Margaritas are the best (freshly made, not that bottled mix)! Highly recommend them for both the food and the atmosphere.

Been here three times since they opened. Each time was checked in on by at least 4 different employees. Amazing service! Even if I was just drinking a (Huge) Margarita, they were quick on refilling the chips and fantastic salsa. The change from the brewery before is not obvious in the building, but the Food, Service, and better beer are a drastic change! Yes even Corona is an improvement from whatever that brewery was making. The service here couldn't be better, friendlier, or faster. They are on it! I've had the Shrimp Enchilada, Fajita Burrito, Taco Salad (needs sour cream on it) and tried a couple different margaritas, definitely go with the Coconut Raspberry Margarita! Amazing.

  • Bryona H.

    (1)

Overpriced, the wait staff are wonderful however there is a huge disconnect between them and the kitchen! The fajita salad was crappy shredded lettuce with a mound of greasy onions, I couldn't find any green peppers, the meat was well done (ordered med rare). So disappointing! I sent that back and ordered the carne asada, the meat was good but the rice, again with the grease? Ick!! I will never go back

It's really sad because the food here is really good but the service sucks!! To be fair there are a couple of girls that are nice and helpful but unfortunately I have not gotten them the last few times I've been there.

  • Casey B.

Awesome place and great service! We've been coming here for a long time and I should have done this a while ago. Really great every time.

We were very impressed with the food and the service. The waitress was very knowledgable and helpful. Restaurant is clean and has a great atmosphere. Portions are large so it's easy to share. Definitely will be back to this fun restaurant.

    (1)
  • Brian C.

The food was OK for a Mexican restaurant. I don't quite understand the employee dress code though. We witnessed several waitresses with their long hair down, not in a pony tail, and they were playing with it. The same waitresses delivering food. Kind of gross.

Amazing.

  • Laura S.

  • Chantelle H.

  • Meagan S.

    (2)
  • Teresa H.

    (3)
  • Douglas W.

Love this place. Owners and staff are friendly and Customer service is great. Food and cocktails are yummy. Happy Hour is the best! Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees.

Timbers supporters!!!! A great place to catch the game. RCTID! The food is good. Better beer selection than the 4th Street Brewpub (ironically). A bit of a party atmosphere in the bar. Honestly a good fit for the location. All in all, a great replacement for the brewpub.

  • Dana Z.

The ambience is nice and the service was fantastic. I found the food to be uninspired and over-priced. I felt like I was eating at a Mexican-American restaurant 15 years ago. We had a taco salad, a cheeseburger and an $11 tostada. The cheeseburger was the best plate.

Cheers!

  • Tj E.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
