I almost stuttered when I found out the price! Been going to fancy places too long! $3.35 for 2 doughnuts and a coffee. I LOVE IT! Good doughnuts, large selection, Fast and friendly. We'll be going here from now on!

Walking into the shop everything smelled super yummy. Although there was a large variety to choose from, presentation wasn't great. The donuts were oddly shaped (non uniform), and the frosting wasn't evenly spread and not nearly enough for how thick the bar was. The filling was very flavorful, but the chocolate glaze was a thin drizzle. They taste better than they look, but they're about the same as a donut from the bakery window of the mainstream grocery shop. Good donut, could use improvements.

All these 5 star ratings? Really? The thing that fetched my attention about Donut World was that it looked like a red barn plopped onto one of Gresham's busiest retail strips. I had driven by it many times thinking how hokey it looked. I finally went in. The service is friendly. The location, while not inspiring, is slightly rustic, countrified, dated and/or funky, so you could conceivably sit here with your donut(s) and a cup of java and enjoy the time warp. I bought a chocolate donut with sprinkled (pea)nuts. There were NO cherry/strawberry frosted donuts and there wasn't much variety in terms of frosted donut alternatives. In that department, Heavenly Donuts has it over Donut World in Gresham, even though Heavenly's service isn't as friendly. In short, I prefer Heavenly Donuts over all the other donut shops in the metro. Even though the red barn is sort of "cute" and worthy of a novelty visit, in the end, it's really about the donuts.

Donuts are so delicious. I have been coming this place over 10 years although I live sw Beaverton area. Friendly service and feel like home. Must try Boston Cream donut at this place.

  • Nicole L.

bought donuts there this morning and meh nothing special. The fillings taste like the ones you can get from cash and carry no homemade fillings and taste like pre done frozen dough. Nothing super great doubt I'll be back.

Fresh and delicious every time I got the Boston Cream and the donuts were large moist and full of cream. Go check this place out if your tired of eating dry day old pastri

Thanks to all the good reviews that led me to this fabulous donut shop!! I'm so hungry for donuts and there are so few shops around here. Owner is very kind and friendly. Apple fritter is the best I've ever had (that's my favorite and the kind I try out at a new joint). 4 stars because there could be more selection. My husband loves the Kruler which they don't have.

I've passed by here so much over the years but never considered ever coming in til this particular morning. I gotta admit I like a good donut. I'm not one of those elaborate donut people that insist on going to Voodoo Donuts cause it has such an awesome and diverse selection. In actuality, I like my simple donuts like a twist or a buttermilk bar. I literally drove by here this particular morning and that sign just sucked me in. I came in and was greeted by some really nice bakers that were not trying to rush me into an order so they can get to the next person. He took his time with me and I did my usual Buttermilk Bar and Twist with a carton of milk. I got back in my car and decided to partake in this pastry in the privacy of my car and Steve Perry. You also can't forget about Steve's bandmates Journey as well. I took my first bite of my buttermilk bar and it was hard as a rock. Not one to waste food I grudgingly at the rest of the donut and found it to be rather dry. I washed down the buttermilk bar with some of the milk and digged into my cinnamon twist which again was hard. I'm not an expert when it comes to donuts but I don't want to assume it was old but as hard as it was I'm finding it hard to believe it was fresh either. As Steve Perry once sang the song "Separate Ways" I think its best we went our separate ways as well. Its not you, its me. I don't like hard donuts and I hope that maybe someday in the future I may find myself in the front of your bakery counter but for now we need to part ways.

The cinnamon/sugar twist is the perfect donut. I'm still craving it. My husband and I stopped here on a whim while in Gresham and were so glad we did. The apple fritter was good, too. And, the owners were the sweetest. I love a neighborhood shop with a line out the door. They're doing something right, that's for sure!

This place is right down the block from me and I've stopped here twice in the last couple months. On many reviews here, friendly employees are mentioned, and the bad reviews only seem to have a problem with the donuts. My experiences have been opposite: great donuts, not-so-great employees. I've gotten an iced raised bar, cream filled, and on this last visit I had a bear craw. (Is it supposed to be "claw"?) The employee looked us over and didn't say a word the whole time. I greeted him, and ordered a bear craw. I said that would be it and he paused and seemed..annoyed? He grabbed a bag and told me my total. That was the only time he spoke to me. I paid, said thanks and left. The other time we came it was an older lady who spoke to us, but was far from friendly. We both have tattoos and piercings (nothing crazy, but some are visible), but I'd like to hope that's not the reason for the cold service. Donut World seems to usually be full of older people, probably regulars.. but a customer is a customer. They have delicious donuts but it's not nice to feel unwelcome on every visit. Work on the customer service/basic manners.

  • Jenni B.

They have cherry fritters and cherry cake donuts, so good! No other donut shop has these. We hit up Donut World whenever we are in the area.

This place.... This place has..... The best donuts...... I've ever had. My partner and I are absolutely IN LOVE with this place. My grandpa owned a Dunkin' when I was a kid, so I got used to eating donuts that were fresh and delicious. Since then it and most other donut places have gone out of business, so I am left here with only places like Krispy Kreme and Voodoo. If you break a Voodoo donut down to its basics, the donut, the actual DONUT is nothing special. Mediocre at best. KK is just... too much. It's too sweet and too rich. The texture of some of there other donuts is wrong. Almost too hard. Donut Wold hits all points; smell, taste, texture, presentation. Winner. Our favorites are the plain (raised, glazed) and chocolate (cake, glazed) donut holes. The texture of the plain ones is divine. They melt in your mouth! Also, the cake donut with chocolate and chopped peanuts on top is excellent. I love sweet and salt.

I LOOOOOVE DONUTS! That being said, I don't eat them much, but this place is worth it. Good thing it's way out of my way in Gresham!!! I first tried one of their glazed raised at work - someone brought them in for something. They are FANTASTIC! The donuts themselves are on the larger side, and the dough is thicker and chewier (my preference). The glaze is pretty substantial, but not so thick that it dries out and cracks off. I'd say it's basically the perfect donut. I'm not so sure about the rest of their selection, since I haven't bothered to try much - but from what I've had, it's pretty good. The shop is quaint, and the people working there are quite nice as well!

  • Greg C.

Ok, I'm going against the crowd here, but this place doesn't quite do it for me. First time today, and likely last. It is a neat place--no doubt. In a town with nothing but a Dunkin, it would beat in most categories. Presentation is good, the lady at the counter super nice, and the window on their production area is worth seeing. Glass case full of super huge doughnuts, but $12.95 dz is rich for a mediocre neighborhood shop that's in Gresham & hasn't been on TV. Raised/small dz $8.95, mixed dz $11.95. The giant Persians and cinna twists look nice and chewy, but they were disappointingly dry. My wife said the buttermilk bar was dry too, and wondered if it was cooked the day before (I got these at 9am Sat). The Bavarians are better than a lot, but fell short in a key way. Good chewy dough and homemade custard! It's a big doughnut, though, and the scant chocolate icing made taste like a giant flavorless dough ball. My 10 yr old, who loves doughnuts, only ate one bite of his chocolate iced glazed. He said it tasted "sour". The dough does have a distinctive taste that another reviewer considered a feature. Not sourdough-bread sour, but maybe buttermilk sour. Some may like it, but my 10 yr old did not approve, and I'm not sure it thrills me either. So 12 bucks later, my fam is looking at a huge box of huge nice looking doughnuts, but wishing I went someplace else. We've not hit all the places in town yet. The one on Alberta is quite good. Voodoo...overpriced and usually stale or disgustingly sweet and confused, though I have had a couple plain glazed that I got lucky with. Blue Star downtown...$3 ea for a hipster-made gourmet. Interesting once in a while. Favorite so far probably Honey Jar Thai restaurant on Sandy. Weird, but good fresh and tasty doughnuts for $8.95 dz. Nothing to see there, like the novelty of seeing doughnuts made at Donut World, but wife says buttermilk bars are huge and moist, and other types were well regarded by the kids. Happy doughnut hunting!

    (3)
  • Michael S.

As another reviewer said, Donut World isn't Voodoo - but it doesn't have to be. They get all the classics right. The cake donuts are soft, the icing melts in your mouth, and the glazed treats are light and airy. I've tried the donuts at the surrounding supermarkets and the stand-alone shops, and Donut World is by far my favorite.

Great staff. Love their donuts. It's the same as everywhere else but something about getting it here makes me appreciate them more.

    (4)
  • Katie C.

Loved them. Until we got my daughter a jelly filled. It contained MSG. Im guessing its in the jam they use. My daughter is sensitive to it and her face had a reaction. No longer a fan.

Their donuts are soooooooo good. Staffs are very friendly and have worked many years. They exactly know what taste and texture of donuts should be.

  • Kim W.

The best donuts. Great prices for an individual donut shop.

    (5)
  • Jess S.

I'm from CA where there's a donut shop every other block. Gresham has only this 1 donut shop, and it doesn't even do the name justice. Their selection was measly (they don't even make a vanilla cake w/sprinkles, only chocolate). The maple bar tasted better than it looked thankfully. Maybe they specialize in the bear claw because it seems like their case was full of them. The standard glazed tasted old despite the fact that he went in the back to retrieve a fresh one. Cheap and great friendly service, but any donut shop in LA would put this place out of business without even trying.

    (2)
  • Shelley D.

I buy these all the time, as well as my boss who buys them for the employees. By the end of the day, the donuts are gone. All my coworkers agree that they're fantastic! We will keep buying them as long as they're making them. They've been around for at least 20 years, there's obviously a reason why. And I love the fact that they're making more unconventional donuts, like bacon maple bars!

    (5)
  • Jessica O.

So so so good here. I love everything I get. And everyone there is so extremely nice. It's been open for quite some time and I hope it continues to stay open. By far the best donuts I've had.

  • Keith B.

small over priced medium quality donuts. the place smells better than they taste.

    (3)
  • Maura P.

have been 3 times in the past year, so I guess it's time to Yelp it. The raised donuts are just okay, but the cake donuts are excellent! especially fond of the blueberry cake ones; they are SO good dunked in coffee! they are very much like a really sweet, dense blueberry muffin with a very thin glaze. the jelly-filled also doesn't have that odd medicinal aftertaste that some jelly-filled I've tried elsewhere have had. but again, it's surrounded by a "just okay" raised batter. the buttermilk bars and the fritters (cherry and apple) are also very good. I like the thin glaze they use, it's not too messy and doesn't interfere with the overall donut taste. definitely going back for more cake donuts!

As another reviewer said, Donut World isn't Voodoo - but it doesn't have to be. They get all the classics right. The cake donuts are soft, the icing melts in your mouth, and the glazed treats are light and airy. I've tried the donuts at the surrounding supermarkets and the stand-alone shops, and Donut World is by far my favorite.

have been 3 times in the past year, so I guess it's time to Yelp it.

Loved them. Until we got my daughter a jelly filled. It contained MSG. Im guessing its in the jam they use. My daughter is sensitive to it and her face had a reaction. No longer a fan.
