I have always been satisfied with the quality of the food. Phone ahead to have it ready to go.

The best mac salad I have gotten aside from island friends. It is a little expensive for the amount you recieve but it is soo yummy.

Oh, why didn't I listen to Claire on this one? I should have checked in with Yelp before throwing my money away here. I ordered take-out with three entrees: kalua pork, "grilled" sesame garlic beef and something called Huli Huli chicken - "Our most popular plate!" - that came out the color of chocolate. All the meat was bone dry. The pork dish takes hours to cook, but the rest of it was clearly cooked ahead of time, stored and then reheated, I'm guessing in a microwave, to dry it out even more. I don't think it's cool to call something grilled because it's cooked on a flat top rather than seared over a heat source on an actual grill. The mac salad had no peas, carrots or potatoes. Just shell macaroni and mayonnaise, it looks grim. I tried a few bites of everything. It's sitting on the counter, and now I have to get up throw the rest of it out. The woman behind the counter was really friendly, but she served me the worst Hawaiian food in town. One last thing: I want banana bread with my meal. It's really tasty, and we expect it.

Pros: - Delivery through Pony Express - Low prices Cons: - The food. Seriously. I had some kind of curry (bland, mushy and overcooked) that included this grotesquely black chicken. And I don't mean blackENED, I mean black. Through and through. I'm guessing that was supposed to be jerk chicken or something, I couldn't figure it out. I can't even describe the unappetizing flavor other than kind of smoky and sweet. The "macaroni salad" was just macaroni smothered in plain mayo. Eww. I actually threw my food in the trash and had to cook up something different to eat because I was so revolted by the food. My husband thought his food was "okay" and he would give this place 3 stars, but as I would give this place a negative rating (as in: wish I could undo ever having eaten here), I guess that conveniently averages out to a star rating of one. Go to Hodgepodge or something instead! (yummy banana bread and the best Indonesian Peanut Salad EVER).

As a first timer, I wasn't sure what to get, so I just got the "special" which the girl recommended. Not sure what's special about dried chicken that's soaked in "teriyaki sauce" overnight on top of old rice. Not even a little veggies on the side to help a sister out. I looked for a little extra teriyaki at the condiment bar to moisten it up, but none to be found. Makes me worry that a hawaiian place only offers soy sauce and ketchup as condiment options....

I personally really like the one downtown by REI I think Ron's done a fine job down there (however) The one by my place by market of choice on 29th is a where my girl's mom likes to point out that she's gotten ill three times. I like Ron so I asked her "hey" even though you hurled how was the taste overall? She gave it a thumbs up but won't eat there again, & I ere on the side of safety myself. But I can tell you all how to avoid bad food, more or less & in general. Children should not be cooking your food, if your cooks face looks like an acne plantation walk away. I have yet to find people in a kitchen under 25 that can eyeball meat and freshness & you need the ripe ol asshol-ed-ness of age to be able to tell your boss hell no you won't serve that crap & he won't either.

It's location near campus is super fast of you're getting the student special. But it's fast because its premade sits so it is dried out. Also the menu claims that the pho is Ron's favorite but pho it is not. Wrong cut of meat, again dried out, wrong noodles & the broth has a stew consistency. I live Hawaiian food but massive disappointment.

I'd have to say that this is one place that I miss from Eugene. I've attempted to find something similar here, but no other place has come close. Ron's Island Grill has 3 locations in Eugene (listed below): 401 W 3rd Ave, Eugene - (541) 344-3324 55 W 29th Ave, Eugene - (541) 344-5880 1677 Coburg Rd, Eugene - (541) 342-3006 Their plates are simple and great for days when you're on the go. My absolute favorite is their Lava Plate which comes with chicken and veggies covered in a flavorful tangy sauce over rice with a side of macaroni salad. Mildly priced at about $6-8 a plate and a short wait if your picking it up to go.

This is about the Ron's on 55 W 29th Ave. Something seems amiss about restaurants in this part of Eugene. The food is not fresh, not seasoned or cooked in an appetizing way and the interior is plastic. That said, you probably won't become ill on leaving.

Ron's *small* = enough food for a 200lb person. I'd recommend the Mauna Loa Chicken for a first-timer. The typical plate consists of A meat stewed in a sauce (tangy for the Mauna Loa) and served over a bed of rice with a side of macaroni salad. They also serve vege alts that are just as good as anything on the menu.

I stumbled upon this location of Ron's while looking for a parking spot at REI. Good Food, same as the coburg road location. Most of the Hawaiian places in town are consistently good, I don't really think one stands out more than any other. IF you're down near Washington Park for some reason (that's legal anyway), check it out!

Their food always seems to upset my stomach. Blehh. I had a friend who worked here and she said the ingredients they use are CRAP. Gross. Knowing that they just slop something on a plate and don't take the time to make it taste good kind of grosses me out. The only upside is that their macaroni salad tastes decent and the restaurant atmosphere isn't bad, very island themed, but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality, and therefore I don't think I will be eating here again anytime soon.

I would go here whenever I wanted my fix of rice. Just dump a lot of teriyaki and hot sauce and anything is good.

Terrible service. Cashier waited through about 5 minutes of conversations with his friends at a table to come back and take my order. When I said "Hi, how are you?" he responded "whatever....know what you want?" I ordered the #5 with no peppers to go. Half the order was peppers. Terrible. The university campus location was just the pits.
