Amazing margaritas, fajitas, chips and salsa plus great service and beautiful new dining room!

I'll keep this short and to the point-- food was delicious! It's authentic Mexican. Concept is not about what farm the chicken was raised on and where the vegetables were sourced from. It's just good Mexican dishes cooked at an affordable price. Very clean and warm atmosphere. I enjoyed and would return if I ever passed back through here.

My husband and I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the Newberg/Dundee area for a while. We love the authentic taco truck tacos but we also wanted a "nice sit down chips and salsa restaurant." We have now found it here at La Sierra. Service was great and food was even better. We will definitely be back!

I have eaten at La Sierra twice. The first time I was unimpressed, and even disappointed. The chile relleno was more like an omlette than chile relleno. My companion thought it was great though. I decided to give it another shot, add it seems very popular among the locals. This time I was satisfied, the pork was very good. My son had the chili colarado and said it was amazing. My significant other had the chicken mole, and it was pretty dry and chewy. The tortillas were meh. Nothing special. The service was great though, and our glasses were always full. The musicians playing were very good. So my second experience was better than my first, but still not a place is go out of my way for. It was nothing very memorable, good or bad. So they get three stars. I much prefer Cancun, just up the road in Newberg.

My husband and I stopped by here for dinner add I ordered their vegetarian fajitas. I cannot eat chicken as it makes me very ill. When the waiter came out the fajitas looked good, so I made my first one. I bit into it and chewed it and realized there was chicken in it. I looked through the fajitas and there was very small pieces of chicken throughout. It obviously wasn't their chicken fajitas, as there was not enough for a person that had ordered chicken fajitas, but just enough to make me sick. They made no apologies, but just said they could make me another dish. My husband did not care for his meal either, so we won't be going back.

My all time favorite go to Mexican restaurant! Never a disappointment. They have hands down the BEST margaritas at such good prices you can't resist! The food is authentic Mexican and has so much flavor. Everyone in the restaurant is always so friendly and makes you feel at home. I love the new, bigger location too! Put the big, loud groups in the bigger area and the parties of 2 or 4 in the booths. It really works out perfectly and adds to the character of the restaurant. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant around here!

The food was passable...there. I've said something nice. I would like to note that the last time we were here a year or so ago, it was good. So why does this merit one star? Please read on: We arrived at 4:45pm today and saw a few people in the dining room. There was no one at the counter and no wait people to be seen. We waited two or three minutes and were shown to our table. Our drinks came within a decent amount of time. My wife asked for hot salsa for the chips before we ordered our food and we waited. Our order was taken and I was asked if I would like corn or flour tortillas (yes, this is an important detail of the story). The food arrived after about five minutes...a bit odd when my wife ordered a chimichanga...they do take time to cook. Still no hot salsa. My chili colorado was rather bland, but tasted okay. I used the leftover chips for the rice and beans. We finished eating. No hot salsa. No tortillas. No refills of water or iced tea. The "waiter" did not check back. There was noise of roughhousing/play back in the kitchen throughout our meal. I had to walk up to the counter and ask for the bill, which took several minutes for the counter person to bring it to us. We paid the bill and left at 5:10. The service was completely lacking and the people I talked to were disinterested. No one asked about our meal. Not once. I can think of only a few times I have had to endure service this bad before, but not one worse. I would advise anyone curious about this restaurant to keep on driving. There are several Mexican restaurants in Newberg just a few miles away which are happy to provide good service and good food.

Went here for my birthday dinner and it was delightful! Our server was so nice and at the end of our meal, they sang to me in Spanish and then happy birthday in English, putting a huge sombrero on my head! I love this place even more now that they moved into the larger building right next door to where they previously were. I would recommend it!

Whoaaaaa why on earth does La Sierra only have three stars? La Sierra is love - La Sierra is life! I'm vegan and can't have gluten and I can still totally eat multiple things here. And they're all delicious! And cheap! And huge! Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and totally willing to rearrange dishes a bit to make them suitable for people with various dietary restrictions, and after dinner they're quick to bring you a cute little Mexican desert - cinnamon sugar fried flatbread with sorbet and whipper cream. My one complaint is that water glasses are filled painfully infrequently, which is only a problem because the food is generally spicy. I tend to bring a water bottle of my own when I go. This is definitely not due to apathetic waitstaff - merely a very busy, slightly understaffed restaurant. Don't listen to the haters. La Sierra is a local gem. Go stuff your face.

We had a very good lunch. I had Carne Asada and it was great! Took our order quick and dropped salsa and chips fast on the table. Fast service and drinks were never dry. We even bought salsa to go a date it at home.

Food wasn't great. Had Piccadillo chimichanga and meat was not seasoned. Felt like I was eating some pot roast from a crock pot. Outer shell was good. Guacamole was under seasoned too. We added salt and badly wanted lime. The salsa was good. Service was good except a couple of mistakes were made in our order.

Loved the food even though my dish was a bit overdone. However, the service that we received was well under the quality that I have grown to expect from the staff of the restaurant - we had to keep asking for chips and our water to be refilled. The staff seemed to be more interested in talking amongst themselves (or another staff person off duty and eating there) than paying attention to the customers

I really LOVE this place! One of my favorites would have to be the Chicken Nachos :) I also enjoy the Chicken Chimichanga :) Their Chicken is very moist and has a great flavor :) Their salsa has an excellent flavor and is not too hot. They serve the salsa along with warm tortilla chips :) YUMMMMMMMM!!!! Best of all THEY DELIVER :)

Coming back from the beach, we were a little hungry. Mexican sounded good and the bright green building got my attention. Service was fine. Their vegetarian choices were minimal, at best. I've had better seasoned beans at Taco Bell. It was the most bland thing ever. The menu said it came with lettuce and tomatoes on the side. Not be be found. Neither was the wait staff when I wanted to ask about it. Chips were cold and unsalted. Salsa was okay - at least it had a bit of heat. Will I ever go back? Not even on a bet.

Stopped in randomly for lunch the other day. The place has great decor, food came quickly and as requested. Food was incredibly tasty and I loved the impromptu desert. Will definitely go again if I'm in the vicinity again around mealtime.

Friendly service and great selection of beer in the bar. 2.75 Ninkasi Total Domination pints during happy hour (1:00pm-7:00pm daily). Food comes out quickly and tastes great! Highly recommend!

We love this restaurant. The service is always so wonderful. The staff is warm and friendly and welcoming. They are especially nice to our children. The food is not fancy but it's always consistently good. Some favorites are the shrimp wrapped in bacon, chimichangas and nachos. Be sure to order the nachos with all the extras and the chicken. Good stuff.

The whole experience was TERRIBLE!! We stopped there on the way home from the beach and just wanted a snack. We ordered the nachos and what a mistake that was. All the nachos consisted of was meat and tons of cheese. When we asked about the super nachos we ordered we were treated very unfairly and pretty much told to deal with it. I was very shocked because many other familes looked very happy with their meals. MY TIP TO YOU.....DO NOT ORDER THE NACHOS!!

BEST Mexican food we have eaten! The ingredients are fresh. MUST try the fish tacos....lots of fish!! Good food and good excellent value for money! The owner and the waiters are very honest. My husband left his wallet at the restaurant. The owner, Victor, called my husband and mailed his wallet back to him in Vancouver, Canada. THANK VERY MUCH Victor. Much appreciated!

My experiences at this restaurant were always the same--the food is good, but the service was slow. However, I gave it another shot and was pleasantly surprised. I generally order the #14 (chicken enchiladas) and my husband gets whatever is on special, a generously discounted platter. The salsa is good and spicy. The mixed drinks are also tasty. The sopapillas that come at the end of the meal with the sorbet is a great way to cleanse the pallet. You can't miss La Sierra. It's the bright lime green building on the south side of 99W in the middle of town. P.S. This restaurant delivers to those in the surrounding towns.

Yum! This place really catches your eye when you're stuck in Dundee traffic for an hour. If you stop for a bite at this brightly colored restaurant, you'll be greeted by tasty awesomeness from the kitchen. Plus, the margaritas are pretty great as well. Whenever I'm around these parts and I feel like Mexican, La Sierra is definitely one of the few places I can count on for good grub.

OK, what is the deal with everywhere I go these days they take FOREVER to get my freaking drink order? When I am seated at a restaurant I expect the server to come by within 1 minute and introduce themselves and get my drink. If they can't they should at least acknowledge me and say they will be back. Do not mess with me when I am craving a margarita, K? The mole sucked, they did not have cheese dip, and my beans and rice were cold. Good points- they used fresh veggies for the veggie fajitas and they were pretty tasty. And the free dessert thingy of course. I will give them one more shot sometime soon maybe.

Contrary to some reviews, service was quick and friendly. Food hit the spot. Daughter loved big burrito and I gobbled up the one taco 2 enchilada combo. Yummy sherbet sopapilla desert was included.

Just what a local Mexican restaurant should be. Great margaritas and really fresh and tasty salsa. Had enchiladas and taco with rice and beans. Loved it.

Excellent Mexican restaurant! The Pollo A La Crema is my favorite, the chicken is occasionally over cooked. Love the fajitas and chimichangas. If you are out wine tasting, though, keep in mind that it IS a Mexican restaurant. It's in a day glo building. It's not a wine tasting adventure, pinky in the air, "celebrate wine country" experience type of place. Expect Mexican food. Expect pulled pork and pulled chicken! Expect them to be busy! Expect to have to read the menu to find the difference between Super Nachos and Macho Nachos. Expect to be treated as though you are in an average joe restaurant, because you are! If you want trendy, treat you like a snob places, there are other places in town that will gladly read the menu to you if you ask. They deliver as well, which is awesome for when we order our Macho Nachos to eat while watching a movie. You know, the ones with all the toppings.

What were we thinking... while wine tasting we were looking for a quick bite to eat. Why my husband thought a Mexican restaurant in the middle of Oregon was our best option is still in question. Being Hispanic and from San Diego I am a little bias of real Mexican food but once we walked in and the employee were Mexican I thought OK this place might be legit. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, it came out soggy and ~3lbs of pulled chicken on it . After complaining to my husband, he yelped it and discovered I wasn't the only one. There refried beans were good.

We live in Newberg, population 22,000. This restaurant is in Dundee, a neighboring town with about 3,200 people. We have never been inside the restaurant. We have our favorite Mexican restaurant in Newberg. To be honest, while sitting in Dundee traffic, stopping to eat at La Sierra is the furthest from our minds, we just want to get home. Anyway, one night we were hungry, had a few drinks in us and did not want to order out for pizza. Then I remembered that La Sierra delivered! Woot! Problem solved. I was nervous because we have our favorite and are somewhat picky when it comes to Mexican food. I called at 9:08 (they close at 10:00) and asked if they were still delivering, he said yes with a $20 minimum. We ordered the Nacho, El Pastor Tacos, and Macho Burrito. The food came in about 30 minutes with chips and salsa. Overall, we were very happy with the meal. Everything was still hot, wrapped in foil, and secured for delivery. I would highly recommend La Sierra for delivery. We are now planning on making a stop to eat in the restaurant.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
