well seeing that thanh is closed, youngs was open to fill my need to eat hot noodles. Ordered Japchae that came with rice. Keiko ordered Bibimbop with a side of miso soup. Japchae was chock full of veggies but chockful of salt. Blegh! i decorated some sriracha(?) sauce on it for some kick but i could still taste the salty mix. And the bibimbop didn't seem very exciting either. Our stomachs were happy after a slow start to the day when I had already worked a bit this morning and keiko had a frustrating start with a new roommate moving in and causing a cleaning riot. Thank goodness some form of food made us chipper. And afterwards I dropped her off and I took a much needed nap to energize for the football game (which didn't turn out so well...)

I wasn't sure whether to give this more stars, because while it's not great, I do eat here regularly. The spicy pork (or squid) dish is greasy as hell but a guilty pleasure when I'm in the mood for it. The doen jang jigae is good, as is the chapjae. The bibimbap is eh. The soon dubu kinda sucks, and the kimchi situation here simply makes me angry, it's so bad. The free sides of kimchi aren't even kimchi. I don't know what they are. Next time I eat here I'm going to bring in my own jar of Mrs. Kim's good kimchi from Rice N' Spice (1075 NW VanBuren, by the way -- awesome market). I've lived in Korea, and eaten all manner of snack bar food there, so I'm not just being picky. I'm guessing the owners of Young's are world-weary and have served a non-Korean clientele so long, they don't care. Here's my open plea to the owners: give us REAL KIMCHI!!! We migooks can handle it! I'll give you five stars if you improve the kimchi. I'll buy lunch on a weekly basis instead of just when I'm starving and nearby. Surly service won't scare me off, it'll be just like Busan.

Not very authentic Korean food but good none-the-less, and probably the closest thing to Korean in the immediate vicinity. Make sure you grab your free dish of kimchee, and if this is the first time you've been here try the special combo. Good for lunch; a bit disappointing for dinner. A bit overpriced as well.

I was hoping for tasty Korean, but this is not it. The yuk-gae jang, my usual, is made with chicken stock, not beef, and that dramatically changes the flavor for the worse from most Korean restaurants. It also had woefully little spice, no garlic chunks, and no mushrooms - all in all, distinctly lacking. The bibim bop was better, but still not up to par with other places; it also came in a normal style bowl, not a hot pot. The beef was waaay overly sweet, a flavor which seemed to have made it into everything else.

Service is slow, but it's because they have a small staff, a very small kitchen, and are ALWAYS crowded. The food is awesome. I'd recommend the Yakisoba in any flavor, it's the best I've ever had!

One of the first places I ate at when I first moved to Corvallis. Of course my parents saw it and insisted we come here! I bombarded the cashier with a million questions but she was pretty nice about it. They don't have brown rice and the tofu is not fried. Broke my heart and put it back together in an instant. Haha. I got the spicy tofu and veggies. The portion was HUGE. I was able to eat three meals with just that one order. It was crazy spicy but it was right at the border of too spicy to eat. My mother got the curry which is loaded with potatoes. I hate potatoes in curry. They're huge boulders of flavorless starch but she loved it. Her husband got the Kimchi Fried Rice that was also a huge portion. There is meat in it if anyone is wondering. All the orders came with a small bowl of Kimchi. The front door is kind of hidden because of all the flyers on their windows but its right on the corner. I pass by this place everyday on my way to/from school but I haven't been back since. One of these days I will though I'm sure, when I get too lazy to cook. Update: I got a teriyaki tofu here once and it was horrible!!! It tasted like absolutely nothing and I'm pretty sure they skimped on the tofu and veggies. Fuckers.

I love this place i eat here wayyyyy too much. The best thing here is the chicken katsu but, i usually get the sweet and sour chicken during lunch because it is cheaper. So much food for the price!!

Young's Kitchen will be closing at their current location 8/15/2015 as they have lost their lease. They plan to re-open (hopefully) at a new location. So, get your fix on, and please support this local business! This place is a solid 4 stars for taste, quality, and quantity for price. Almost all of the dishes I tried were solid 4 star dishes, with a small number of 3s (mostly because I thought they were a tad bland and needed something extra) and a small number of 5s. I'll give you my favorite picks, but I recommend that you try this place out yourself! My most favorite dishes included the Japche (the menu says they're sweet potato noodles, but they look/taste/feel like glass rice noodles to me), the Duck-Bok-Gi (the spicy pepper sauce was fantastic!), and the Teriyaki salmon (cooked to perfection). A couple of real contenders were the hot & spicy squid (needed more squid!), the Bul-Go-Gi, and the soups. The service was usually good, and 8-10 minutes for a "home cooked" meal isn't bad at all. They happily offered take out and had a decent amount of seating. I'm hoping that this business will reopen soon at a new location. They were looking at either the Timberhill shopping center or someplace on 9th. Either way, they won't be getting the college crowd that they did at this ideal location (which they were at for over 25 years!). If they don't, I'll understand. The restaurant business is a cutthroat field and the fact that they lasted as long as they did meant that they had a huge and loyal fan base. I wouldn't fault them if they wanted to ride off into the retirement sunset on a good note.

Young's kitchen is now closed! Will be replaced by Jersey Mikes Subs. My sister loves this place. She went to OSU and had this many times. We drove from PDX to get some on their second to last day. They were running out of ingredients so many items were not available on the menu. They were out of the yakisoba, spicy pork, and my friend and I ordered the last bibimbaps. Of the things we did order, I liked the Kim chi fried rice. Flavor was good, a little spicy. I was not a big fan of their bibimbap. They give you a bottle of sauce to put in your bowl which is nice, but I have had it where they serve it to you in the clay pot so your rice is crispy. My experience here wasn't so great. But I know Corvallis dwellers have made good memories here. So I hope they find a new location so that I can try them again to see what the fuss was all about.

Not worth the time. Much better food & drinks in other restaurants near-by. Wait time's too long for basically just mediocre food, which cost way to much relative to other restaurants in Corvallis. Management seems more concerned with lining their pockets rather than providing a proper dining experience.

l was looking forward to trying this place, it seems popular and I like Japanese and Korean food. I beat the lunchtime rush (barely) and because I was in somewhat of a hurry I ordered a special from the board, thinking it would come out quickly. A seafood ramen dish w/ kimchi. Why it took so long is beyond me. It took so long I was beginning to think my order was lost. Several people who were behind me in line got served before I did, which is frustrating. The seafood was mostly squid and one lonely shrimp. The squid was like rubber, chewy and tough, and quite fishy tasting like it wasn't fresh. Grumpy man in charge of things.. might be authentic but it wasn't enjoyable. Plain, cafeteria style - basic tables and booths, I wouldn't care if the food was good, but I was underwhelmed all the way around. And, it was pretty expensive for a disappointment. I'm sure there must be some good dishes, the place became packed while I was there; not sure I'll go back to see if there's something I'd like better.

Highway robbery for a Terriyaki Chicken dish - $8.75 after .50 card charge. Came in because Shogun Bowl is closed on Sundays (they charge $2 less for same thing).

Hands down the best Asian food in town. Everyone there was extremely kind, the atmosphere was great, portions were huge, and the food was delicious. The chicken katsu is the best I have ever had. Can not recommend this place enough. I'll be back!

Okay place to get decent terriyaki kind of food .... I usuallly order chx & beef teriyaki ( bulgogi?) Combo. Bulgogi is rather good and so is the chicken teri. Other food is sub par for me. Avoid getting the ramen or the noodle soup as it is basically shin ramyun (or at least taste like one) ...

This used to be my favorite place for Korean food in Corvallis. I spent most of my life in Hawaii, so there's a certain standard to be met for Asian cuisine, and for many years I loved their Bi Bim Bap. Then today I went in after being away for a number of months, and found that they're using plain- yes, PLAIN hamburger in place of the shredded teriyaki beef that makes up the flavor centerpiece of the Bi Bim Bap. I drowned it in the red sauce and some canned teriyaki sauce they had at the counter, but it's food sacrilege to charge almost $10 for a bowl of rice, veggies, and ...hamburger meat. I am hoping against hope that they just ran out of the thin sliced beef, and that the hamburger has not become a regular feature. If it has, I'll have to find a new place. :( boo.

I was excited for a Korean restaurant because I came from a town with no actual Korean restaurants, just a Korean friend who's mom made the best food ever. Only had a short time to grab something between classes so when I saw the kimchi fried rice I thought it sounded perfect. As most people have said already, this place is pricey for what it is. I paid $7.75 for the rice dish and it was certainly a large portion, the only problem was that it was lacking in the kimchi department. It essentially was a huge pile of white rice with very little chicken and even less kimchi. And why exactly is there chicken in here? The little kimchi that was in there was awesome, exactly what kimchi should be, salty, pickled, hot cabbage. Sadly it was drowning in a sea of bland white rice clinging to life preservers made of dried out teriyaki chicken. I would gladly sacrifice the chicken and a chunk of the rice for more kimchi, but this isn't up to me sadly. I think I will pass on future visits to Young's, which is highly disappointing.

It's okay for what it is. Dishes aren't terribly flavorful (your choice of bland or bland and hot) and the tofu is a bit sloppy. The prices are high for what you get.

Food is ok and almost everything is under $10. They have not been conducting business ethically as of late. They're exploiting lack of awareness of credit card company policies to make it look like their scheme to pilfer 50 cents on transactions under $10 is permitted as long as they post it. The cashier was nice, but the manager was a prick. "Scam" policies posted or not, Visa, AMEX and MC does not allow surcharging EVER, with an exception of some government agencies, such as the tax collector. It didn't used to do this a few years ago. Now they do. Most card companies prohibit this practice. They raised prices 50 cents over the menu price and presents me the slip to sign as if nothing is out of the norm. Decent Asian/Korean food. Depends on what you get, but some of the portions are cheap and large though. I usually get the orange chicken. And yes, I know that's not Korean. And make sure to use cash, they charge you for using a credit card. Something I've noticed about Asian places in general.

Super delicious beef teriyaki. The best ever. An amazing find, considering we were just passing through town on our way back from the Coast and saw this place. Good yakisoba. So-so gyoza (I saw the restaurant worker retrieve a bag of gyoza from the freezer so I know they are not made on the premises).

Asian fast food type of restaurant... If you order kimbop, cali roll, or any type of soup, it takes longer... Definitely the best teriyaki in town. The hot and spicy pork is good. If you talk to the owner and you would like to eat some real Korean food... Sometimes they have secret dishes in the back... I have had their cold crab dish once and I thought it was good.... Secret dishes are higher prices compare to regular food, though. If you order it "to-go", they usually give you a little bit more rice than you eat at the restaurant... During the middle of the day, they give out free fountain drinks if you order your food. There is no Vietnamese food items serve at this restaurant, though... It's mostly Americanized Korean food...

Been there another 2 times since my last review. The key to beating the rush seems to be arriving at like 11:30AM or earlier. The first time I ordered the Spicy Chicken, which my coworker gets every time. It was an interesting mix of chicken and veggies with a red hot sauce. The spice level was just about right for my palate, but if you're looking for more flavor than just a nice burning sensation in the mouth, I'd go with something else. The second time I had the BBQ (LA?) short ribs. not sure why they call em that, but they were pretty tasty. Basically short ribs grilled in a sweet korean bbq sauce. I would have hoped for a little larger serving for the price, I think I got about 4 or 5 pieces. I'll probably go again considering how much my coworkers like it, but I'm going to have to bump it down to 3-stars until I get something that wows me

I've been wanting to write a review for this for a while now... well here it is! I ordered the beef Teriyaki rice bowl. I loved it. Almost every aspect of it; the beef, the sesame, the sauce, the rice, all except for the price. I paid $6.95. [-] I come to eat here occasionally, not because of the food isn't good, it's just the price is a bit pricey. Not sure if it's just me, but after wards my clothes stunk of oil/grease- or whatever you might call it. [+] They have good dining hours, open pretty late and you can watch them cook, if you'd like. They have a pretty good variety of food, which ranges from soup, fried rice, limited sushi rolls, and among other things. One thing I really like about them is that they're extremely fast with your food orders. As you stand in line, the process seems quite long, but after they take your order you'd probably get your food within minutes! Well of course I understand that the rice, coleslaw and other stuff are basically pre-made ahead of time and all they're really cooking is the meat, but still, they send out the orders really fast. Oh yeah, their food actually looks like the ones in the pictures that they post up! Bonus points! I hate going to restaurants and you see mouth watering pictures of food items and you order it, but when it comes out, it looks like someone had just slapped the ingredients together... [?] One of the most important reason why I come here is because it's so close to campus and when you're hungry, you just want to eat! I'd order to-go. Probably only come back here when my friends ask me or when I am craving for a Teriyaki dish and I don't feel like drive 10 miles to get it.

Its like a little kitchen eatery up in this place, one of which can be appreciated and hated (all at the same time) by the locals. The BBQ Chicken is fantastic as is their very portion small Kalbi plate. If anyone had to be picky about this place, then it would start with the Vietnamese food as its been largely disappointing (in essence, stick with noodle dishes or any of the Korean items). Pricewise, this place is hard to beat but its easily crowded during any given lunch period. And its best that you leave it up to yourself to do most of the ordering and perhaps the serving, since most of the student workers / family members could seem to care less about your experience.

Yum. I have only been here maybe 5 times as this is a recent discovery, but I haven't been disappointed. I love their Chicken Katsu which is quite a generous portion for only $6.95. Their sushi rolls are excellent as well. Can take a little while to get your order but that's ok.

The servers are fairly apathetic, but it's a fast lunch type of place. But it's a clean place and the food is very good if you get the right food. The hot and spicy tofu is good. The BBQ chicken is great. The Yakisoba is quite good. It's all cooked fresh right in front of you. I like this place quite a bit for something fast and a little different.

THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELTY HORRIBLE. FIRST OFF, THIS PLACE IS LOCATED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, HICKTOWN USA. Who in the right mind would add vietnamese and korean food together? do you see most restaraunt owners mixing up their demography of food marketing? do you see mcdonalds all of a sudden having kung pao mchicken sanwiches? The working environment of this place is unsanitary and is desolute. The servers look like they are not very enthusiastic about going to work and treated me like i wasnt even there. I ordered the kimchee pho special.. which was a blend of vietnamese broth with pieces of kimchee in it.. what the hell is this? Whoever came up with this concept of this restaraunt, should reanalyze the pain and suffering its giving the people of corvallis.
