Yum! I never had such good rolls in all the places I have tried. Try the CJ roll, the Oregon roll is my fav. Also the chicken teriyaki bowl is wonderful and plentiful. I would highly recommend to anyone.

This place rocks. Pure and simple. Cave Junction OR is a one horse town. Small. It's always been difficult to find food for a vegan in Cave Junction, so to find a place that serves VEGAN SUSHI has been a revelation. The people who run the place are very nice. Service is attentive and friendly. All the vegan sushi dishes are superior. The person who makes the sushi is a pro. They even have french fries and miso soup and tasty beverages. They play great music, like Jerry Garcia and David Grisman and Bob Dylan. It's open pretty late, too, for a town that goes to sleep early. All I know is, Cave Junction OR got a little cooler when this place opened. I'm glad it's there and I will be back.

The newest restaurant in Cave Junction never fails to please and impress with the quality of Japanese food and friendly service. We've tried the crunchy seaweed salad, fresh-made miso soup, steamed edemame pods with seasalt, and several of the sushi rolls. It is hard to choose a favorite -- they are all delicious! I highly recommend the Fire Roll, made with shrimp tempura for a little bit of crunch, avocado, seared salmon and lemon. It's just slightly spicy, not hot. You want hot and spicy? They have that! You can have fresh Dungeness crab, shrimp, tuna, salmon, red snapper, scallops, soft shell crab, surf clam and more. Some of these are cooked and some are raw, so pick how you like it and how spicy (or not) you want -- it's on their extensive menu. They also offer vegan rolls, calamari salad, oysters, green mussels, hamanchikama, and something called "Taste Like Chicken Roll." The prices are very reasonable. Beverages include coffee, hot tea, iced tea, soda, wine, saki, and Jaeger ale. They also have BBQ sometimes. Best to call ahead on that. We are so happy to have a terrific new place in town for special lunches or dinners with friends! Check it out!

Loud & louder. Bad acoustics. Extremely s-l-o-w wait staff. Cash only. Granted it IS the only sushi place in town -- for 30 miles, Grants Pass has some decent Japanese restaurants, Musashi's for example. I enjoy & normally order sushi. We got the proverbial luke warm bowl of miso. When the sushi arrived it tasted as if it had been dipped in bleach. BLAH! Asked the waitress why it tasted like bleach. According to her, the owner said they put a sauce on it. I've eaten sushi for many years, no Japanese restaurant puts sauce on their sushi. Asked to have the order replaced. This time she said the owner said I got what I ordered, he would neither replace nor refund it. What I've deduced is they do not filter their city water & it is chlorinated ergo the horrible IMO bleach taste. We tried when they first opened & have been back 2 times -- ever the optimist that things would improve. 3 strikes, they're off the list, I'll drive to Grants Pass where I'm treated as a valued customer & the food is great. If you don't mind the LOUD, canned music, the sushi chef does make excellent rolls.

We were staying at Out-N-About over night, and this place was recommended by the staff as a solid place for dinner. For a sushi joint all the way out in Cave Junction, it was surprisingly good. Sushi seemed fresh, and the menu offered a lot of different roles to choose from. The only part of the meal that that I didn't care for was the miso soup: It came in a really small bowl, and was luke warm. Service was top notch, and the staff do their best to make you feel at home. We will go back when we visit Out-N-About again.

Great sushi. Fresh, tasty, imaginative, well presented. Best for miles around. Directions are wrong... They are in the location shown for golden dragon.. See my review there....for the wrong restaurant.

Wow. Going Deep is a treasure, tucked alongside the 199 in Cave Junction. If you live in and around CJ, you're damn lucky! I've been traveling here for years and have watched the evolution of food options including expanding vegetarian alternatives throughout the area, but Going Deep takes this to a whole new level. The cuisine here parallels that of any fine-dining/gourmet restaurants I know in the heart of Los Angeles at a third or fourth of the cost. The place is well-done and quaint. The vistas from the windows are lovely. The service was fine, friendly, but a little scattered, which wasn't a problem for us because we weren't in a hurry. Definitely coming back!

Best restaurant in the area... It isn't easy to find a decent meal around here. Their fish is fresh and presentation is good. The service is inconsistent.

Terribly disappointed in their sushi. Heard great things about the place from folks at Bridgeview Winery, so thought we'd give it a try. Hubby's chicken and fries were great, but my sushi was close to the worst I've ever had. We checked the place out before 6 pm and there were only a few diners, but when we returned after 7pm, the place was overflowing with diners ... a good sign. Everyone seemed to be happy with their sushi, so I ordered some. They do not use sushi rice -- it appeared to be sweet, very short grain rice that was undercooked (kernals were hard). I'm JA from the Bay Area so maybe my expectations were higher than they should be, but I couldn't eat what they served. The unagi in the roll was about the size of a 1/4 penny and I picked it out of the roll and that was my dinner. The avocado/cucumber roll was no better. It wasn't so much the content, but the rice was awful. I found it interesting that other diners were cleaning their plates and appeared very happy with what they had ordered. I was the the only Asian guest in the restaurant. When the waitress came by and asked if I wanted a to-go box (since my food was basically uneaten), I explained that the sushi rice was sweet and hard -- I coulnd't eat it. She made no offer to apologize or speak with the chef/cook. When I asked whether an accommodation might be possible, she excused herself to ask the owner and returned saying "sorry, the owner said you got what you ordered and we can't make any adjustment". OK, very poor customer service. At a minimum, the owner could have come out and apologized or asked what the problem was. In contrast, when we had a problem with a dinner at Crater Lake Lodge dining room, the manager happily refunded us the full cost of our meal (more than $50) after he read the survey we completed online about our dining experience. That's what we consider excellent customer service and makes us want to return to give them another try.

Stopped by on our way through Cave Junction to Medford. Have to say sushi is amazing and worth the wait! However, service is nice, but slow! Enjoy the process and you will be happy! Just know to allow time for the stop over...

I absolutely adore this style of sushi!! Amazing ingredients, delicious seafood! My favorite is the fire roll. Such a delicious combination of tempura shrimp lemon and salmon in a sushi roll. Also the icky sticky cake is unbelievable and you simply must try some.

Funny place, good food, not what I expected to find. Sushi, and BBQ. Not BBQ Sushi, not Sushi BBQ. AND is the key word. It works, something for everyone. Food was good, both the sushi/tempura offerings, as well as the ckn strips/fries and pulled pork. Also, very accommodating with our request to adjust an order as well. Minus one star for Cash Only (plan ahead!) and the pulled pork wasn't over the top. It was just 'good'. I'd come back if in the area and the mood struck me.

Good food...bad service...when they're open (which is unpredictable) they're great...as long as u don't become an "inconvenience" to the waitress...hope you don't mind the owners pot-smoking buddies taking up half the restaurant either...they get priority over "regular" customers apparently.

Stopped here for dinner while visiting family. We were greeted quickly upon arrival and sat near the front of the restaurant. The decor was inviting and clean with dark wood tables and lots of windows. Minus one star for an uncomfortably cold temperature and the perpetual dripping sound our meal was accompanied with from a bucket collecting rainwater situated about four feet from our table. The menu was nicely organized and we decided on the spicy tuna roll, Oregon roll, volcano roll, and spider roll. The sushi was amazingly delicious - ingredients were all very fresh and presented nicely. Ginger was white (not the typical dye infused pink that most sushi restaurants serve) - I appreciated this detail. Despite a little over-zealousness with the sauce on the volcano roll, the sushi was definitely some of the best I have eaten. Service was friendly and attentive. The owner was pleasant and talked about his restaurant with a whiff a deserved superiority. I will be back next time I visit Cave Junction.

The Alaska Roll is absolutely stunning and tasty. We came in during a dinner rush and they forgot our appetizer but the manager immediately takes 10% off our bills graciously without our complain. Wonderful food. Worth the wait
