    I had a bad feeling about this place from the get go. When I called them to see about reservations for a large party, the man on the phone made it sound like he was doing us a favor by allowing us to dine there. After getting off the phone with the rude and less than helpful man I decided not to waste my time with the Bistro. Unfortunately one of the members of the dinner really liked the Bistro and was very adamant about going there. When I called back a second time to set up an appointment, I got a woman on the line. She was actually very nice and helpful and I felt much better about making a reservation with them. When we arrived, our tables were set up and we had multiple servers and runners helping us out since we had a large party. Unlike my initial interaction with them, it wasn't the service or the rudeness that turned me off to them this time, it was the food. I ordered the pork chop. It came out thick and on the bone so I was very excited to bite into it. This was the second worst pork chop I had ever eaten. The worst being in a dive bar in SE Portland that was less than a third of the price. I really don't know how you can ruin a pork chop like this. It looked like a great cut so I can only imagine it was overcooked and/or left underneath a heat lamp for an extended period of time as the other dishes were prepared. The potatoes that came with it were no better. I swapped some of my pork chop for some of the steak of the person sitting next to me. He had ordered his medium-rare, but it was cooked to medium-well or well. Either way it was also tough and chewy. Really just terrible. I ordered the panna cotta for dessert and it wasn't any better. The syrup on top was far too thick and sweet and the panna cotta itself was dull with an odd texture. Not only was it a terrible meal, but for the price I was greatly disappointed. One of the most disappointing meals I had had in sometime.

    Beloved and I just dined here. Scallops to die for! The service was prompt and the staff was friendly and efficient. The Bistro has been a family favorite for years, both pre and post fire. The lemon soup is a specialty and is worth the trip on its own.

    My fiance and I had arrived late to cannon beach for new years and found that most of the restaurants were booked solid. We called the bistro and found that they could seat us right away. Our server, Christian, was attentive but not overbearing. All of our food was absolutely delicious and the ambience was perfect. The guitar player was the perfect touch. They really made our night special from start to finish. Plus, their wine selection was spot on.

    Ventured here on our first night in Cannon Beach and it's a 3/5. The waitress was great, very attentive and friendly. The food was your typical beach town seafood offerings, Mac and cheese with crab, scallops (previously frozen) and everything is a la crate.

    We were walking down Hemlock on feb 1st in the early evening when we literally followed the amazing aroma coming from the restaraunt and went inside, first we ordered two lemon drops perfect! Then we ordered all the appetizers, crab cakes, roasted beets, steamed clams, they were all awesome and delicious! My friend the had the pear and feta salad, I had the Greek lemon soup. All I can say is we shared and ate everything at that point and it was magical! I will always come back to the Bistro! I'am very pleased to have accidentally going there! One of the best places I've ever truly eaten at folks.

    Celebratory dinner that was NOT. We had a reservation for 5. When we arrived, we were seated at a six-person table in an alcove across from the front door. There was a man playing an amplified guitar sitting right next to one of the chairs at our table. When we sat down we knew there would be a problem with us having any sort of conversation because of the loudness of the guitar music. We mentioned this to the first server, after we had to ask him to repeat what he was saying about the menu. Then another server came by and told him to move to the opposite end of the table to talk with us. We explained our dissatisfaction to both servers and that we were contemplating leaving. Then a woman came over, she did not explain who she was, but she gave each of us a hearing test. One person who could not hear her was asked to move to the small end of the table which had not had a place setting. This was opposite the guitar player. We asked her if we could be reseated, if the guitar player could move or if he could turn down the amplifier. She said they would not ask him to move, they did not have any other tables but would ask him to turn down the amplifier. The guitar player then took a break but a large speaker that was right next to us began to play loud music but they eventually turned that down as well. The woman had explained to us that they had been open only three weeks and they were working on drapes and acoustic dampening materials. We decided to stay and try to enjoy our meal. The salads were fresh and tasty. Two people had the mushroom lasagna enjoyed it and thought it was flavorful. Two people had the linguine, one of which was unevenly sauced and bland. The other person had the halibut special which was lukewarm and overdone and the "stew" on top of it ice cold which detracted from the concept. The wine list is small and slightly expensive, especially when you're given Ikea like wine glasses with a nice bottle of wine. The desserts were good. The menu prices seemed high since the quality did not support these prices. When the guitar player returned, he had purposefully tried to reposition his chair but if we had had a sixth person at the table, that person would have been hitting his arm while eating and they could not have had any conversation with the rest of the table. If the woman was the manager, she did not identify herself nor speak to us again, but rather walked by the table several times with her face averted from us. And although I didn't expect it, nothing was comped on the bill. We will not eat there again.

    We stopped in here for a drink and a snack on a brisk, fall Saturday night. We were lured in by a lit meandering brick sidewalk and the promise of live music. It did not disappoint. Classic guitar, light conversations, romantic lighting, a friendly staff made this trip a success. The champagne and old fashioned were the cherry on top of this delightful yet quaint bistro.

    It is disappointing to see how after receiving feedback from other reviewers, Bistro Restaurant & Bar continues to have staff who deliver subpar, rude service. My friends and I arrived at Bistro around 5:40 pm on a Saturday evening. We were greeted by the bar tender, who advised us the hostess was on her way to seat us. When she greeted us, she looked through her book and informed us there were no tables available. However, she then offered that if we could finish our meal and be out by 7:30pm, we could take one of the tables. We agreed to that and as we approached the table, she told us we could actually sit in the bar area, if we're over 21, as there were two empty tables she could put together for us. This way, we wouldn't have to feel rushed. We happily agreed to that option. We were seated, and a friendly server came to bring the table a round of waters and menus. At this time, it was still well before 6 pm, so we wanted to have a look at the happy-hour menu. When my friend finally caught the attention of a server (not the friendly one) and asked if she could order from the happy-hour menu, the server looked around the room and then up at the clock hanging on the wall. "Hm...it's 10 to 6...sorry, happy hour is over." It was 5:50pm. Happy hour ends at 6pm. The other guests at the bar who overheard quickly exclaimed, "Really?!" and we saw the server head over to mutter something to the guests. At this point, we were annoyed because there was clearly preferential treatment. Luckily, the bar tender rushed over with the happy-hour menu, and he informed us we could still order any of the drinks off the menu. After that a substantial amount of time passed and no one came to take our order. We discussed the thought of just leaving to look for another restaurant, and at that moment the bar tender came around the bar to serve us (because he noticed no one was caring for our table). I must mention that the bar tender was clearly juggling many hats, and there should've been at least another server actively managing the bar area with him. Our orders came and the food was good--things were starting to look up. After we finished our meals, we were too full for dessert, but my friend did order a scotch to end the night with. Before she was even done her drink the hostess that first greeted us approached our table and started clearing everything off of it, while asking if she could offer us anything else. We politely said no, and she proceeded to tell us, "so, it's almost 7:30 and we had a deal." We were absolutely appalled by how rude she was. Firstly, you do not tell your customers that there was a "deal" to have the table back. Secondly, there was no deal as we opted for the bar area so we wouldn't feel rushed to leave by 7:30. Thirdly, my friend wasn't even done her drink! It was most unfortunate that this hostess lacks basic courtesy and tact, particularly in the hospitality industry. The saving grace was really the bar tender. Without him, I would be offering barely a star for the horrible service, which left us with a bad taste in our mouths. What a disappointment.

    I drove out to Cannon from Portland to do some homework and was planning on eating at the Sweet Basil Cafe (also highly recommended) and they weren't open yet so I popped into the Bistro for a cocktail and wound up hitting it off with the bartender (I want to say his name was John or Jim) and then I read that evenings special which was a pan seared Ling Cod served with a mango and pineapple salsa with some black rice. It was incredible. I usually don't eat bread but the warm table bread with salted butter was incredible. The guitar player was terrific and I drank a great Pinot Gris to compliment my fish and finished with a flourless chocolate cake and a coffee and Baileys. Truly a dinner to remember. Thanks again- heading back there tonight with my girlfriend!

    Pedestrian Meal for two only $80... The restaurant was packed when we arrive for our reservation, so the 5 minute wait to be noticed at the front door was acceptable but not appreciated. We were then seated in the bar for our res (not really acceptable). The slow service and mediocre meal we received after that was less than acceptable for the price. "Grilled Crab Cakes" should be better than thin cakes that were clearly done on the griddle. The Razor Clams over Jasmine Rice were just a pile of deep-fried Clams over rice and the Chicken Satay was of similar calibre. Was the meal acceptable? Yes. Was it worth the price absolutely not.

    Tried thus place with my hubby, mom and Aunt. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us. Great wine list and even better food. We all LOVED what we had. I had the linguini, hubby had crab mac n cheese. Waiter was nice( turns out his parents own the place). We will be back! I guess it burned down a few years ago. It is beautiful inside now.

    A great spot for Happy Hour - we did not stay for dinner but really enjoyed the great Happy Hour menu - (4:30 to 6:00 pm). The Meatball sliders were quite good!!

    I really enjoyed my experience here! I dined at the bar with Anna as my server. I thought both the bar & dining area had a great ambiance & aesthetic. Cozy & romantic, but chic...not kitsch. I had the roasted beets to start & the pork chop entree. Both were yummy. I don't remember the name if the dessert Meyer something, but it was basically a fluffy, chocolate sponge cake on a bed of raspberry sauce...& it was fantastic! Very decadent flavors but not heavy like a regular chocolate cake. I think the bar & menu selections really appeal to a wide variety of diners & are more elevated than a lot of the dining in CB without costing a fortune. I really was happy with what I got, especially at the price point.

    March 12 was our first time back since the fire, and both my wife and I had very good dinners. As this was mid-week in March, it was not possible to judge other reviewers' comments on slow service as the place was not very busy. However, our server Jen was extremely pleasant, knew the menu, and knew something about some of the wines. The timing of her bringing courses was perfect for us. Also some comments made about small portions must be made by 240+lb people, or by people who expect to take half their dinner home. We had salads as starters - my wife's golden beets were delicious and my spinach and radicchio was very fresh, just the right temperature, and the crisp bacon lifted it out of the ordinary. Our main courses were just as delightful - my pappardelle with beef ragú has to be the lovely bargain on the menu (and it was pappardelle, not noodles passed off as pappardelle as we have experienced at a certain Portland restaurant), and my wife said her fish with a green curry sauce was lovely. My wife does not like overly spicy food, and Jen description of the sauce was perfect. We shared a chocolate torte that was very good. The small wine list had some interesting wines at prices reasonable for the Oregon coast. The by-the-glass selection was very good - at not many places on the coast would you find a rosé made from the Sicilian grape Nerello Mascalese or a white Picpoul de Pinet from the Languedoc? The best thing I can say, we'll be back

    Went to Bistro for a late dinner this weekend. We did not have reservations so was prepared to wait a bit. However, the restaurant felt cold. No one bother to greet us on arrival for a long time. Just kept walking by. Hostess was no where to be found. I saw her busy chit-chatting her local friends. Finally a server reluctantly came & told us what the wait was. We agree to wait at the bar, and waited and waited. Other (non-ethnic) guest kept getting seated before us even though they came after. Finally the bar tender was nice enough to alert the server of our wait. Another 15 minutes we waited while a table behind us in the bar/lounge sat empty and cleared. Finally we got that table in the bar/lounge. Food was disappointing. Crab cake was soggy. Seafood stew was decent. Certainly not up to the hype that the local made it out to be. Service was crap! Wouldn't bother with this restaurant. Too pompous for us. You may have better luck if you are Caucasian.

    Yum, yum, yum! This was our first time eating here and we are so happy we did! The atmosphere is perfect for a date night and the food was really amazing. We were impressed with everything we tried. I had the Greek Lemon soup and the Scallop special with sun dried tomato and caper sauce served on risotto! I'm still dreaming about how great it was! If you're in Cannon Beach it's a must!

    Summary : above expectation for the Oregon Coast, lots of potential as they rebuild after reopening, felt happy and satisfied as we exited.. Food : all of our dishes were better than expected for the area. This isn't NY, SF or Seattle so you have to set your expectations appropriately. The seafood stew was very tasty and well spiced with lots of well prepared shellfish and fish inside. The "Mac & Crab" was nice twist on the traditional with Bowie and nice cheeses and left a completely cleaned plate in front of my teenage son. The mixed grill was really a mixed grill with nicely sized portions of a variety of meats/sausage over a bed of nicely herbed orzo. The halibut special was lovely if not a hair overdone. Portions were nicely sized but not generous. Blackberry pie for desert was a surprisingly delicious treat.. All in all, the dishes were well thought out, tasty and prepared better than expected. As the kitchen settles in and finds their footing, I expect it to only get better. Wine : wine list was adequate but needs some better pairings for the food. Service : the service was friendly but very new. Most of the wait staff we interacted with were trying their best and doing well but needed a lot of seasoning. The subtle mistakes and some lack of knowledge about the wine list or menu were all underpinned by the best intention and just need some time. Pleasant and trying.. Space : Nice interior that is still a little bare but getting there. Good sized tables for parties of four or six, one that would seat a potential eight. In general the energy in the place was light and happy with subdued conversation and laughter. They need better signage outside though. Price : yeah, it's expensive

    We had a fairly good experience food-wise, and the waiter was a wonderful fellow, however, the hostess was not a nice person. It took her a while to help us to our reserved table. We were placed near the front door and it was a chilly evening. We asked that they close the door so we were not so cold, but nothing happened in that respect. I sat with my hoodie up through most of the meal and no sign from the hostess to change anything. The food was a little boring for the price and they've had the avgelemono soup for ages as their special soup! I'm not sure I'd recommend this restaurant except for the waiter was a sweetie.

    Was fortunate enough to dine on the first evening they were open after a fire destroyed the restaurant last year. A small and friendly place with a focused nouveau menu. The ambiance looked pretentious and wasn't kid-oriented, but the friendly small town staff couldn't really pull it off, they were far too nice. We had the linguine with pine nuts, capers and Italian parsley and were thoroughly impressed. They had a nice selection of wines, but I was disappointed when they were out of the Tempranillo I wanted. I 'settled' for an Oregon Pinot Noir and was happy. The chocolate ganache with caramel sauce for dessert was fabulous.

    We visited Bistro in August and it was probably the best meal we had during our week in CB. Service was good, food was good, atmosphere was good - a rare trifecta! We enjoyed our entrees but it was the crab cake appetizer and the cobbler dessert that stood out. Their flavors are subtle but not boring. We appreciated that we weren't rushed out even though we were the last table there. The only thing we weren't crazy about were the drinks we ordered - I had a mediocre lemon drop and my husband wasn't in love with his vodka martini. We will make sure to go back next time we are in the area - we'll just stick with wine this time.

    Came on a Friday at 5 pm because we did not have a reservation, with 3 girls. The food was beautiful, we had a great bottle of wine the waitress reccommend. We all had expensive entrees and dessert. It was a great girls night until the waitress asked us to leave because people with a reservation were arriving, when had barely paid the check. The waitress, Jen, was slightly cold throughout the night and was downright rude right as we were about to leave. We truly believed were not lingering. We have always liked this restaurant but are reluctant to return

    This is a difficult review to write. The noise level is so high that it was disturbing to all of us. The owner(?) or manager explained that window coverings are on the way. Honestly-- wood ceiling, wood floor, wood tables and chairs. No tablecloths, hangings canvas (could be tapestries or weavings). A few window coverings is not going to help. The salad was crisp and cold. The three entrees were all delicious and wonderful. They really need to get the noise level down! Not sure we would return. So 1 star for ambiance and 5 for food.

    We visited the Bistro on a Friday afternoon (5pm) for happy hour. There 6 of us and we were visiting Cannon Beach on a Girls Weekend. When we arrived, we had hoped to sit outside but after sitting outside for a few minutes, we realized it would be too chilly so we asked to move inside. Our server/bartender was irritated that we wanted to move inside. There was only one other couple when we arrived and when we asked if we could move some tables together in the bar to accommodate us she was a little snotty and said we could only do so if we ordered food, otherwise we needed to sit at the bar. We assured her we were there to drink AND eat (heavy appetizers). She also commented that since she had already poured our water glasses to take to our tables outside, now she'd have switch them out with the empty glasses at our table. Seemed like a silly thing to be irritated about. We each ordered a glass of the happy hour wine and several appetizers - bruschetta, chicken satay, pizza bread, meatball sliders, steamed clams, apples/cheese plate, crab mac and cheese and the pear and blue cheese salad. As the bartender was taking our food order, she rolled her eyes and was impatient that we changed our mind about what we were ordering. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our server/bartender was great about filling our wine glasses as soon as they were empty. She did warm up, the longer we stayed. The ambiance was cute and the guitar player was great. For parties of 6 or more, they do add a 20% gratuity. I would really like to give this restaurant more stars, but the rude service is hard to overlook.

    Great place. Really good gourmet food. Has a variety of usually meats/seafood. Anyone who knows the history of Cannon Beach. Bistro has been there for years in the same spot. They make it work for what they have. Ate there several times and never had a bad meal.

    we loved The Bistro. the food was excellent and our server was wonderful. when we first walked in the bartendar was a bit offish but later warmed up to us. sounded like she was having a bad day, but she came thru like a champ on the customer service. i can't say nothing but praise for the wonderful food and the desert was to die for. (we loved the owners little dog Sailor, he was so sweet). we had a nice window table so we could see him the whole time. this has to be the best dining establishment in cannon beach.

    The waitress was excellent. But the hostess had attitude and there is literally not one vegetable in the whole place. We know, we asked. The plate of pasta was just swimming in oil and capers but that was it. Pasta, oil, capers. I could make that at home in 10 minutes. There was no flavor. We asked if there was a side of broccoli or spinach we could order and were told there were no vegetables available. Wow. Not.one.vegatable. Oh yes, there was an artichoke on the appetizers menu that was decent. But other than that, nothing. This is 2013, people! Not 1983.'

    Had dinner last night at The Bistro with my sister-in-law and husband. We are "locals" and will not return. I prefer Manzanita, Nehalem, and Wheeler for good food and friendly service. The Bistro enjoys a full house on holidays and weekends and does not seem to worry about retaining customers. We were actually asked to leave by the bartender when the next party arrived for the table we had reserved at 5:30. That has never happened to me in my life, and I have been served at restaurants all over the world that range from simple cafes to 4 star NYC and Paris establishments. The servers were pleasant but the food, quite expensive, was so-so. We paid $170 for dinner for 3, including 3 glasses of wine and one dessert. The seafood stew portion was tiny for a $25 entree. I wish we had ordered a pizza in Nehalem instead. We were seated near the bar at the entrance, where people gather while waiting for tables. They tend to crowd around you and the opening and closing of the front door makes that area rather chilly. I doubt The Bistro owners care whether or not our dinner there was pleasurable. I doubt they care about poor reviews. Cannon Beach is crazy crowded and there will always be someone lined up to rush the previous party out. Save your money! Go to Manzanita or Nehalem where you will be able to linger and relax.

    The Bistro is amazing - Service was casual but right on point, but the story is in the food - Amazing. I had the Greek lemon soup with the scallops, which were delectable. With scallops sometimes the serving is meager, but this was just right with a lovely risotto, yum! My partner had the Mixed Grill - Lamb, sausage & chicken - wonderful each was moist & flavorful, really delicious. Ambiance intimate with love lovely music (guitar), captured the charm & quality of the "old" Bistro but better.

    The locals will tell you this place is good but really it's not. Maybe being from a city and experiencing good restaurants at hand has spoiled me. Had the seafood stew which was totally boring. They need to spice it up. Portions were small and just ok. Waiter (bartender too) was a total snob and very rude. Look elsewhere.

    Liked this place a lot. Nice food that tries to be a little special for a little beach town and generally succeeds. I had some super fresh oysters dredged in flour, fried and served in a light lemon sauce; with a glass of local Pinot Gris, that dish sang to me! I am a little surprised about yelpers bitching about the service and food. I had a great time there. I found the service to be very nice if a little casual, and the food to be pretty good. The people who worked there were very friendly to me. This place would have a tough time competing in Portland, I'd guess. But lots of places in Portland would have a tough time in Chicago, and lots of Chicago places would have a tough time in Paris. I think having a little perspective helps, and I had a fine time with modest, Oregon coast, beach town expectations. It's a casual, quirky place and if that's OK with you I think you'll like Bistro. Chill, everyone. Oh, and yes, there are better options for kids in town, but don't downgrade the restaurant because of that. Just don't bring your kids! I would agree that Bistro is a little pricey for CB but eh, so what. And they did have a meatball sandwich + soup or salad for $6 as an option in the bar--it looked good and that offer provides a value option!

    Don't go with Children!! No child's menu and our daughter ordered pasta with olive oil and parmesan. We asked for a few vegetables on the side. Her entire dish was the size of a coffee saucer which she promptly finished in two bites. We got the bill and her dinner was $13.75.. a dollar less than adult entree at 1/4 the size. The owner/manager could not have been more rude, patronizing and condescending when we complained about the prices. Although adult food was good we would never go back due to the rip-off prices for children and rude manger.

    So glad to see the Bistro back in business! We visit Cannon Beach every two years with the family, so did not know about the fire or that they had been out of service for a year. The Bistro is one of our "must-visit" places on the trip - last night we went straight there after arriving in town and were once again delighted with the quality and flavor of food. The table favorite was mac & crab, but others got the flatiron steak, salmon, scallops, and linguine and all were happy. They are still out of the Tempranillo (saw this on another review) but the Syrah we got was fine. We miss the ambience of the former place but are just super glad they're back!!

    How wonderful to have the Bistro back...better than ever! The interior is sleek, clean, and spacious enough to be really comfy. The jazz music and lighting are just right, too. The food - sautéed prawns for me, halibut for my husband - were perfection. The wine selection is just right and the service was like the food...perfection! Welcome back, Bistro!!!

    Five big ones with a disclaimer, you have to ease into the place. Meaning, at first glance it looks a little, well old. But then the surprises begin. Survice is great for the coast (but i might add beter then most places in PDX as well). Drinks were great, full bar with great wine selection (not your run-of-the-mill rite aid wines at 2.5 times mark-up) but beer options are kind of weak (which is a bummer in the micro beer capital). But two out of three, should be safe! The food, well i couldn't find a single thing to complain about. Perfect! Same goes for desert. Unbelievable! By the time i left i was sold and would change anything about the place. It gets busy (for a reason) so think ahead. Probably not a good choice for little ones. A must if in the area.

    We stepped into the doorway and were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't have one, but it was 5pm and the place was empty. Maybe they were expecting to fill up any minute. The hostess was rude to us and very condescending. She made us feel like we were trespassing. We walked to the next street and ended up at Sweet Basil Cafe, and we look upon that as serendipity! Sweet Basil was wonderful. We don't plan to try the Bistro on a future visit either, given the treatment we received. Evidently they are so busy they don't need our business. Fine with us!

    The menu looked great, the environment very "beachy-bistro-like" -- small, cozy, quirky -- and it turned out that the food was MORE than fine. We were a table of 7 (all of whom like to share, luckily) so we all tried each other's starters and dinners and desserts and everything was GREAT (oh my, that greek/lemon soup...whooda thunk?? eee-yummmm :) The only reason I didn't give it a five was that our server was rather on the bitchy side and, sorry -- if you're "hostessing" someone's dining experience -- the bitchy thing really doesn't work. But the food sure did!! LOVED IT !!

    A cozy, unassuming beach-bistro with an eclectic & inviting atmosphere served with fantastic food and great service. Décor was a bit cheesy-euro bistro but still fun considering the location. There used to be a magical garden shop next door and so the exterior landscaping creates a quaint setting that draws you in... My second dining experience at the Bistro last night and it was just as fantastic as the first. Bartenders provide a great yet casual style of service, and add fun to the atmosphere with lively conversation. Oh, and they also serve great drinks, using the freshest of ingredients. -Lolly made fresh whipped cream for my Spanish coffee! She does one of the best Spanish coffee's I have ever had! Loved the attention to detail and prompt service. Shared and loved everything we ordered: * The Greek lemon soup and the seafood stew, fabulous. * Crab cakes, delicious * Pear and Walnut salad, fresh and flavorful * The linguini with roasted pine nuts to die for! *Don't miss out on the rich chocolate torte.

    When you are at a place like Cannon Beach, your expectations are a bit lower - at least they should be. If this was a restaurant in Portland, or any reasonable sized city, I would never even step in the door... but when you have spent many many nights out on the beach away from the city, sometimes you end up with well... OK food. We went on a Sunday evening close to their closing time and there were no tables except for the 6 person table in the bar area (right at the door). While listening to a waiter talk about alcohol poisoning to the bartender we perused the wine list. We both had their fish dishes - a wild salmon special and the halibut standard on their menu. Both were just ok, and the white rice on the side (maybe it was basmati) was no so good, yes no so good. The salads were at least fresh. Now... the options in Cannon Beach are not so great, so this almost deserves 4 stars in relation to the other meals you can get out at Cannon Beach... but 2.5 is what they should get if not considering their competition.

    This was the best food we had during our recent OR coast jaunt. It's a tiny place, but they've arranged the tables to maximize privacy. Even the smaller 2-person tables are fine--they're not shoved together as we've seen in so many other restaurants. I had the char-grilled salmon and my husband had the beef tenderloin. We were both very happy with the simple preparation and portion sizes. It's the kind of food you'd like to make for your friends, at home. The salmon was served on top of a dill pesto (very mild, not overly garlicky or oily), with steamed asparagus and jasmine rice. It wasn't fancy or impressive--just good, solid cooking. We'll definitely visit again...it was the perfect way to end our vacation.

    we came across this unassuming little restaurant called (Bistro Restaurant & Bar), we checked out the menu and decided to try it. our first impression of the decor, very cheesy euro bistro feel, plus they need to change out there napkins (very faded & old). if your going just for the decor, please stop reading and choose different restaurant, now if you like decent service and good food in CB you must stop and check this place out. my wife had the halibut dinner (daily special), I had the fish Stew, both had wonderful flavor, with super fresh tasting ingredients. we both especially liked the fish stew. this place overall was very good, i would give Newman at 998 better overall score, but this is a must try place when you come down to OR Coast.

    The Swedish Cream here is worth every star I can award. It's a dessert, and they always have it (as far as I know). It's a sort of semi-solid creamy concoction with a berry (raspberry, I think) sauce poured over it. It's like berries and cream. Except for instead of pouring the creme on the berries and having it all sink to the bottom, the berries are now poured onto the flat top surface of a semi-solid cream, and every scoop you take out of that cream will be surrounded by berry flavor. The food here is good. I like it. I had some nice meat on a stick. I probably had a steak or two. That's fine. But it's the Swedish that brings me back every time. If it weren't for the Swedish, this would just be another Cannon Beach restaurant (although, the interior is certainly a bit different than usual, isn't it?). I usually come to Cannon beach at least once a year (from California) and usually eat at Bistro at least once during my stay. Swedish Cream is delicious. Just eat it. (Note: They are closed one or two nights a week, so plan ahead)

    Foodies,you have arrived..I have been going to the bistro for 6years now. The food is quality made with flavor. The rib eye is one of my personal favorites..the atmosphere is warm and cozy and the service is prompt. I can see the attention to detail in the way the food is executed. Moreover, the sweedish creme is to die for. I have never found anything more savory or flavorful. I highly recommend this resturant.

    We had a meal here during a recent trip. It was pretty late and the servers were still very helpful. I had a dungeness salad that was tasty. My husband had the razor clams that were phenomenal. Prepared perfectly and delicious. Good wine recommendations. Good food and vaue....good service.....

    Not that impressed. We have heard good things about this place and that you pretty much have to make a reservation or you won't get in, so you'd think it would be much better than it was. The server was very nice but the food was just okay. The atmosphere was a little weird. They made our reservation in the lounge which should have been okay but they don't have a lobby or any place for people who are waiting to be seated to wait. The main door leads into the lounge so everyone that was coming in was crowding around our table while we were trying to have this nice dinner. It wasn't cozy or romantic at all. The prices weren't bad which is good but I think this place is way over rated. It took us 2 hours to eat, not because we were taking our time and enjoying ourselves either. Go down the road to Gower St. Bistro! Been there twice and both times was fabulous!

    This is a great little restaurant with a good selection of food and wine. I had the Salad with Pears and Walnuts and the seafood Stew. I have had their Seafood Stew several different times, and although it is never the same because of seafood availability, it is always good with just enough spiciness to make it interesting. The Prawns with Noodles and Green Curry Sauce was good and spicy. We had a great meal.

    Really nice meal here. By far the best option available in Cannon Beach. I loved the Bistro salad with blue cheese and veggies. Scallop entree was quite nice. Some of the best prepared scallops I've had, but the sides were just ok. Husband loved the lamb with chutney. Nice wines, great chocolate cake. Ambiance is a bit stuffy and old fashioned, but still nice. Not cheap, but comparable to what you'd pay in other nice restaurants in the area with much better food. We brought our 2 year old and 4 year old and the waiter was very accommodating of them. Recommend it!

    great food, cool atmosphere, great staff, particularly the bartender! the only reason i did not rate it 5 stars wass that the manager was sitting at the bar chatting with some customers and was saying negative things about yelp. :( i informed her that responsible yelpers will go back and rerate restaurants, and that she can reach out to yelpers to clear up issues. i just thought that in poor taste, because you never know who you are sitting next to...me! an elite yelper! oh well, it is still one of the best restaurants in cannon beach!!

    If you are going to canon beach this is the place for dinner, food and drinks are outstanding. I have eaten here a few times always great food. Server was great this last Saturday.

    So apparently this place does not want to feed people or something. I am looking at their hours here and we looked at their site...10pm close time for Sunday nights...We arrived prior to 9pm and were confused because at first we did not see anyone but could see candles lit and a TV on. We went inside and a waiter practically rolled his eyes at us. My husband asked if they were closed and he said yes...and then we realized there were other couples in there dining. By the look of other reviews we probably were saved an overpriced snotty meal.
