Great authentic Mexican food at great prices. Quick, friendly service. I definitely recommend this place to friends.

Very good food! The enchiladas are amazing! The people are very nice as well. One time we went in there just after closing and they still made our order. I'm not saying go in there after they're closed but it was nice of them to still help us when they didn't have to :)

High hopes when we tried a couple of burritos. We really wanted a "go to" place for a wonderful Mexican food experience. This was not it, the tortillas themselves were excellent, but my chile verde burrito was mostly beans, (and I love beans but not this much) and husbands tacos had very little filling and an off taste. Did like the salsa, but will keep looking for "the place".

This place is small and usually not very busy, but their food is delicious. Great mexican food, much more authentic than most places. I would not hesitate to recommend Tortilleria Reyes!

The reviews on here are going to be mixed as this location not only serves ready to eat food, but also serves as a market. I am reviewing the restaurant portion. This place has the most delicious Mexican food in town only rivaled by El Burrito - in which it all comes down to slight personal preferences. The food at Reyes is quickly prepared, the service is awesome (with the very rare occasion that they have a more unfriendly lady at the counter than the usual extremely polite one) and you WILL be full after their asada burrito! Check it out, you will not be disappointed - especially for only paying $5.50 for a massive burrito!

Cinco de Mayo is coming. Even more important in my husband's view, so is the Kentucky Derby. In addition to Mint Juleps to toast the feature race, we always have Mexican food after. Maybe that's because we went to the Derby when we were young and broke and the only place we could afford to eat was a good little Mexican cantina. A tradition was born. As aside, if good Mexican food in Louisville seems puzzling, consider the people who do the hard work of exercising the horses and maintaining the stables often have Mexican heritage. Planning the menu for our Derby celebration, today we were off to Tortilleria Reyes. Purchases started with their incredible corn tortillas. Made fresh daily, and they freeze beautifully, a roughly 6" tall stack of tortillas, about four dozen, was under $3.00! And we knew we could also find some other needed items there, like Mexican chocolate and big bags of limber dried pasillas. (Not an oxymoron, fresh dried chiles should be pliable.) Although late afternoon, the kitchen (and bakery) aroma was so enticing, we oordered some adobada tacos. The daily special, they were only $1.25 each. Delectable and served with a little bit of fiery hot salsa and a lime wedge to help balance the flavors. How these good people manage to produce such delicious things for such a low price to their customers is a mystery. I am also grateful that they never make my failure to to speak Spanish a stumbling block for me to br able to shop in their store. For all of this, I say gracias to the people at Tortilleria Reyes. THIS N THAT: 1) A little hard to find, it is in a strip mall storefront on Division, not far from Goody's chocolate workshop. 2) Fully accessible from parking in and throughout. 3) Tortilleria Reyes appears twice on Yelp. You'll see similarly great reviews at both Yelp pages.

Legit Mexican food to the 'T.' I had the carne asada tortas and it was incredible. Same price as anything you'd get at a fast food chain premium sandwich, but so much better in quality. Authentic and unique. Even a grocery store and what appeared to be maybe a deli(?) in the back.

Really good panaderia and tortas. The tortillas are fresh and authentic. You can order food and eat in the small dining area. Try the horchata.

It's the only place in town that is at all like the places in Texas I frequented when I lived there. As the non-Latinos increasingly pour in, they seem to be getting better and better. I order a vegetable burrito with rice and no dairy. They don't seem to mind! Go here!

Great place to grab some fajitas to go on a Saturday night. Lucky to have this place in the neighborhood.

Best tacos in Bend hands down! Love all the food that comes out of the kitchen, plus they have a mini market in the back that has all the ingredients needed for authentic mexican cooking. You can buy whole chickens that are tasty, and pre marinated carne asada filets that are delicious. Couple that with a some freshly baked goodies made in house and your one happy human.

Had moderate expectations given write ups here tempered by the fact this is Central Oregon; I was still very disappointed. Counter lady was unfriendly, meat was very dry and tough, over cooked and lacked flavor. Tacos were dry overcooked meat chunks on a tortilla and a little cup of sauce on the side. To be clear: they were 4 chunks of meat on a tortilla, no cilantro, onions or anything else. Carne Asada was a super thin, dry, very tough flavorless chewy steak, some lettuce and tomatoes with rice and beans for $12. Torta bread was typical but the meat had the same issues. At least they had decent tortillas. Who knows, maybe I caught them on an off day but what I had was pretty bad and I definitely wouldn't go back.

Awesome and authentic. We love the tacos here, best in town. I prefer asada to the chicken. My husband loves the birra. Overall it's awesome.

Best small taco/authentic Mexican (fast) place in town! Hole in the wall, just what you would expect, great food, fast service. Also one of the cheaper eats in town. Has anyone noticed the price creep recently at a lot of places in Bend? Getting back to pre-recession bubble levels!

Very nice authentic food. I was very happy to find this place, I'm from the SW where the mexican food is great and I have had a hard time finding good food. Finally.

A good, authentic (muy authentico!) mexican joint in a strip mall just down the hill from Mt. Bachelor. The business also features a bakery in the back. Ijole! I have died and gone to heaven! I've eaten here on two occasions, and i've really enjoyed what I've eaten (assorted tacos, birria sopes, jamaica, & tamarindo), and I can't wait to head back and check out more of their offerings. I also want to try to hit it earlier in the day before they sell out of baked goods... Check them out!

Pretty authentic little Mexican joint. Food tastes pretty delicious when you're in the mood for some sodium-rich Mexi-food. The prices are just right and the staff has always been very friendly. The atmosphere is certainly nothing to write home over, but I do realize it's part-restaurant/part-market. After a long day on the bike, when I want to just grab some quick calories, it's not a bad option to grab an enchilada plate and an ice cold Tecate'. :)

Highly recommend the tacos & sopes. Most authentic Mexican food I've had in Bend & reasonably priced, too.

Definitely at top of list for "real" tacos in Bend. Will even fix up quacamole for you if not already made. Pick up a stack of fresh tortillas while you're here. Beuno

This is the first authentic regular-Jose Mexican restaurant I've found in Bend so far. They have a Mexican grocery here as well as a small eatery. The food is reasonably priced and they have soups, including menudo on weekends. The Menudo was $7.99 - not a real large portion. The stomach meat pieces were the largest I've seen anywhere - many of them took at least three bites to eat. Not saying that is good or bad, just unusual. I thought the menudo was a bit bland, but they included a big dish of onions, cilantro, and rather bland diced chile pepper (but not oregano or dried chiles). The tamales came in sweet corn, pork or chicken. The sweet corn tamale is, of course, sweet - a dessert tamale. None of them were very large, but then again they only cost $1.50 each. They have a good assortment of food on their menu - several shrimp dishes, tacos, tortas, chile relleno, etc. I'm glad to have found a real Mexican place in Bend, and I'd eat here again. But if I were heading north, I'd be more likely to eat at the Great Taco Shop in Redmond - just suits my tastes better.

As real as it gets - in Bend at least. The family that runs this place are super nice and the food - you will not find better authentic Mexican in Bend for less. We 4 of us had lunch there and we walked out paying under $20 combined. But it's more about the food than the price. Don't expect to be served chips and salsa when you get there - Go to the counter oreder your food, grab a seat and wait for the deliciousness to be delivered. :^)

Very Authentic and delicious Mexican Food. Good little grocery store. It is a little hard to find in a small shopping center on Division Street but well worth the effort. Excellent chicken and Barbacoa.

GOOD stuff, classic "hole in the wall" Mexican joint, which is a big compliment from me. Authentic. Had the Adovada, substitute out lettuce and replaced with cilantro . . . MUY bien! Same size burrito, less $$ than what had been my favorite "hole in the wall", in Hwy 20, near Pilot Butte.

Hands down the best Mexican in Bend. I would argue some of the best Mexican in the states and I lived in Southern California for five years. The tacos are the best and I have yet to find a meat that I don't like there yet. The sopes are also awesome and the Burritos are tasty as well (though I recommend trying the tacos and sopes if it's your first time). There salsa accompanies the menu items perfectly and they have a nice little market there to find your typical Mexican fare. They also make there own corn tortillas, hence the name of the shop, which are absolutely great (not quite as good as in Mexico but it's the closest you can find in the states in my opinion). You can also buy uncooked carne asada meat as well as fresh mexican cheese and a variety of meats in the freezer (need cow tongue or a whole cow head... they have it). On Saturday's you can also by there delicious Carnitas by the pound which is ready to serve... just grab some tortillas, onion, cilantro, lime and salsa and invite the family and friends over for a real Mexican meal at your home. If you have ever been to Mexico and are hankering for some good Mexican you need to go here! It's the best!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
