Whiskey was awesome. Selection was superb and on point for price. No food for us so I can't speak to that one. Service was brutal. We had to get up and go find the waitress for everything, check, extra drinks, even the first round. Tables were half full, so being busy was not the issue. Looks like other folks have had better luck. I'll be back for the selection, hope to get more help from the staff on hand.

I'm literally writing this review as I wait for someone here to notice that my drink is empty in front of me. I'll get back to you when they do. Don't hold your breath. This is my third time at Stihl and I thought I'd give them another chance. Its a nice place in the old Bo Restobar location in Franklin Crossiing. Nice vibe. Good drinks. I'm not that impressed with their whiskey list and some seemed just absurdly priced ($25 for a Soringbank 10? The bottle sells for $50). Had a legit Moscow Mule and decent Old Fashioned. Haven't had the food. But the bar service sucks. Im basically invisible here. Still waiting for my drink. This is the second time in a row this has happened. My suggestion to the owner/bartender is to pay more attention to your customers and less time chatting with the girls you hired. We will be the ones still around when all the tourists leave town and you've got rent to pay.

My favorite place in Bend. Staff is hilarious and helpful when trying to decide between the ginger cube or blackberry lemonade... both are stellar. Plus I would eat those grilled cheeses everyday.

WHAT A TREAT! My husband and I happened to stumble across this whiskey bar on a VERY chilly NYE. We thought it would be nice to grab a few drinks before our dinner reservations at The Drake. Sat right up at the bar and was quickly helped by Carolyn. She knows her stuff!!! She helped us make our choices from their wide variety of whiskey. If you aren't a whiskey drinker, no worries because they have other liquors as well.... Just no Jell-O shots here! This place was cozy and warm with a speakeasy kinda feel. The owner Jason was awesome! He came up and started chatting with us while making drinks. We decided to try an appetizer and got the grilled cheese... Highly recommend! It was so good, we decided to try the steak fingers. Also very good. Long story short, we liked the food here so much, that we cancelled our Drake reservations and ordered the French onion soup and Elk Shepard pie to top off our night. Plus a few more Chancellors and Seelbachs to quench our thirst. Jason has quite the little gem here. I would recommend it to any one I know traveling to Bend.

Been there a couple of times now. Great vibe and wonderful decor. First time had quite fantastic live music with guitar, harmonica and a whistler. Don't drink whiskey much, but I'm willing to learn if I can do it here. Wait staff of one was friendly and efficient, but overburdened both making and serving drinks - let's give her a break and hire a bar tender too. Great place to bring out of town friends who are looking for something with more personality than the average Bend bar.

I don't know jack about whisky but their Knighthawk cocktail and shrimp app kick butt! Good crowd, fun sassy staff, cozy vibe and not expensive!

I love Bend for its beer, but was always disappointed by its cocktails--generally too focused on throwing a bunch of nonsense in. Stihl is a great relief. They're cocktails are classic, highlighting the spirits rather than overwhelming and hiding them. Anyone who can make a good Sazerac knows what they are doing. The grilled cheese, with braised brisket, is tasty, although my fiance and I get more excited about their fries, which are amazing. We've also had the steak bites, not too exciting, and seen the chicken fingers, which also look incredible. Very excited to have these guys in town,

This place is awesome. I do not usually like fish n chips but theirs is the best I have ever had. Nice "tight" batter, not greasy, amazing sweet potato fries. Great chicken pot pie. The best I have ever had.

Very well done !!! Props to the owner making this place such a huge success is such a small time. I LOVE your whiskey selection and your staff helped me to discover a new favorite islay for me...HUGE props as I would say that the probability of someone's recommendation that will stick with me is about 1 in 10.....and for me to discover a new whiskey...excellent. I still have yet to have bad food their. The customer service is above and beyond. I was there once in October and my friend's dish came out with an error in the way his burger was cooked. They fixed it right away, without even asking, among other things they did to make it right...They definitely gained a life-long customer from that visit alone.

The whisky....ooh, the whisky! The steak...ooh, the steak! Everything here was amazing! The whisky was the reason I went and indeed it was amazing, but the steak stole the show for me. Perfectly cooked and delicious. One of the best steaks I've ever had. Everyone in our party had amazing food. The bar itself was very cool and the atmosphere was great. I can't say enough about this place. Definitely will be going back.

This place was the bees knees! I use that phrase because it had a very old but cool feel to it. The mismatched chairs, distressed metal and wood everywhere, dim lighting, and nice music made it a place you just wanted to hang out and drink with your main squeeze. The staff was incredibly friendly and ready to help with your selection of whisky from one of the largest collections I've ever seen. They also had local beers and other mixed drinks if whisky isn't your style. The food was simply exquisite. The portions were big enough for a man's man that's had a hard day at work. The steak was cooked perfectly, flavorful and juicy, but the pork chop stole the show. The chef took that underrated cut of meat and turned her into the queen of the parade. Seriously, try it. All in all, 2 excited thumbs up. A fun yet quiet atmosphere, great service, fantastic drinks, and stellar food make The Whiskey Stihl Bar a place you should definitely visit. This would be my usual haunt if I lived in Bend. Bravo.

I'm heard a lot of people making noise about the help here. All I can tell you is every time I've gone I've had fantastic service, as have my friends. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The owner is on site, and runs a tight ship. There's a total of five people involved with this endeavor, and they're a tightknit crew. So far our food choices have been limited to appetizers and desserts, so I can't speak as to the quality of their entrées. But what food I have tried has been uniformly awesome, and their whiskey infused Flan is one of the best I've had - which is odd because I don't think of a whiskey bar when I think of Flan... What one thinks of when they go to a whiskey bar is whiskey and mixed drinks. They have these things in abundance. The proprietor makes his own mixes and tinctures, and I've yet to have one that I didn't like.

Hopefully my friends from Bend don't see this or hate me for it, but honestly i didn't find this place very appealing. I'm not a whiskey drinker, but they are, so we all gathered for some food and drinks before splitting up for the evening. Hubby and I wanted beer, we asked what was on top - all local - which is super awesome - but if i'm not from there, i have no idea what you just said. I asked him about them and if they were hoppy. Not very much of an answer and i ended up with an un-drinkable beer for me. The food. It's fru fru. My table mate got the chicken pot pie and i anticipated food envy - alas it's was de-constructed, so there was no crust. WHAT? You can't call it chicken pot pie if there isn't any pie! I went with the french onion soup. No gooey cheese on top, only 1 little crouton... sigh. Good for a dress to impress date night, but Bend doesn't really seem that place for that.

Great food and drinks! The staff is knowledgeable and helpful when trying to nail down your food and drink order. The Ginger Cube is delicious, simple, and creative. As for the food, the Bourbon Shrimp is where it's at! I also had the beet salad and their Loco Moco...both were incredibly tasty. Enjoy the friendly staff and atmosphere! Cheers!

I love whiskey and I love whiskey bars! I'm happy bend finally has a decent one . I like the atmosphere here and the location. The reason it gets only three stars is that the service is not great. It's also pretty expensive but hey I like whiskey bars and it's the only game in town so you pay to play right. I've also eaten the food here only twice and spent the entire night throwing up both times. No, it wasn't food poisoning and I don't think the food was contaminated. I think it's some ingredient that they use in their weird whisky/ bbq sauce. I dunno but both times I've eaten it, I burped it up for hours after and finally ended up just throwing it up. It may be liquid smoke which I absolutely hate. I'll be back for drinks but will never eat there again.

Best cocktails in town. Prices are good for what you get. Great drinks that focus on the liquor that's in it. Food is great too. Ribeye steak was great.

Pros: Great whiskey selection, friendly wait staff, good ambiance, fun downtown location, interesting food menu Cons: A bit on the pricey side, and ... an interesting food menu. Cuts both ways LOL Not quite sure I get some of the negative reviews. It's a whiskey bar with some fun local beers to boot. And the venue is on the small side, sure. The fact that it can get a little crowded however is a testament to them offering a good product.

Really? If you're calling yourself a whiskey bar, and even getting cute with the (e), you probably ought to know the basic tenets of the spirit. There's a French whiskey in the Bourbon category, 2 blends listed in the single malts, and when I asked about the age statement on a Rye, the owner told me it didn't have one because it's less than 4 years old. The blood & sand cocktail tasted like a melted cherry jolly rancher. If that's his free pour, he might want to straw test and spend some time practicing. Perhaps the biggest problem was that neither the owner nor the other bartender bothered to ask why the undrinkable cocktail just sat full at our table. Instead, they charged us. So much for service. If you want a regular bar with a better than average whiskey selection, and a vibe a lot like a McMenamins pub, this is the spot. If you want a knowledgeable caring staff and a good cocktail, hop on the freeway and head out of town because I haven't found it in Bend.

Conceptually this place would be really great - whiskey and hearty grub. However the service is awful. The bartender spent most of his time chatting with groups of friends at different tables instead of making drinks, so the waitress was left scrambling around trying to cover the entire bar. We were ignored with empty drinks for around 15 minutes. We wanted to get food but that was impossible without an actual server to order from. Eventually a group of 20 people crowded in and that was our signal to leave. Won't go back unless they learn how to run a restaurant.

Best "New" place in town. Jason and his crew are doing things right. From the BBQ Braised Shrimp App to the Hand Cut Sirloin Entree, flavor and presentation is on point. Needless to say Chef Justin is a artist. Cocktails are amazing also, classic and some new plays on old favorites. Not to mention over 100 Whiskeys to choose from will definitely satisfy most. I am more than pleased! Keep up the good work!

Excellent! I recommend the pork chop dinner. The sauce was so delicious, crisp green beans, creamy mashed potatoes. We had the Bibb lettuce salad and the spinach salad, both excellent. Friendly service, beautiful surroundings. It was a great evening!

Went to Stihl for my birthday on Friday, 12/5/14, with another couple. Even though it was a Friday, there was ample seating available. My wife and her friend got there about 5 minutes before us boys. They immediately asked the waitress for some waters. We arrived and waited another 5 minutes before we finally had to stop the waitress to place our drink order. Again with the wait - 2 Redbreasts and 2 beers. We actually had to flag her to our table AGAIN to order our food. BTW, still no waters. It's amazing that she would walk by our table multiple times without acknowledging us. It seemed we were inconveniencing her and she couldn't be bothered. Finally got the food after another long wait along with our waters and drinks. Pork chops were great though bordering on overcooked. Very flavorful and the sides were perfect. The burger was a little overdone (mediocre) but the fries were excellent. All in all, the food is above average. The service is horrendous. For a bill just under $200, I expect a little more on service. Good food will only get you so far in this town, especially in that little pocket off the main drag Stihl is located at. Not a long lasting track record of restaurants in that space. Keep up that service and you won't be around much longer, I expect. I tipped her accordingly though I think I may have been a little too generous. Maybe a new employee or RE-TRAINING is required!!! The server on the receipt say Jason but here are the rest of the deets: Order #1-12838 Check:1 102 21:01:20 9:01pm I REALLY wanted to love this place. Next stop, Dogwood.

I'd post a picture of the potato croquettes that we wolfed down but...we wolfed them down! Handcrafted drinks were perfect and this place is more than just drinks. They have a nice menu as well. We will be back and bringing friends along!

First time there, we sat down and it took a while to get helped. After we got our drinks, the whole place filled up and there was no chance of ordering drinks or food again since there was only 1 bartender to serve about 80 people. Bad management. For what your charging for your whiskey drinks, you can surely afford to hire servers.

One of my favorite bars downtown, Jason is an awesome owner/bartender who really knows his whiskey. Its a great bar where you can actually relax and get a very well made interesting and different cocktail. I love the selection (of course) and it just has a great atmosphere. I have only had the food once but it was really good, and looking forward to more whiskey this weekend at Stihl.

Ugh. I reallllllly wanted to love this place. I love whiskey, I love the location, and I love the atmosphere/decor. However....I really didn't have a great experience. Walked in at about 8:30 on a Friday night. The place was pretty packed. There isn't much direction of what to do when you arrive, and the entryway is pretty damn crowded (especially if there are multiple groups of people waiting). I was in a group of 4 people, and after waiting about 5 minutes, meanwhile making eye contact with the female server and bartender with no acknowledgment, I decided to walk up to the female server and ask we should just wait or grab a drink. She said the table by the front should be leaving pretty shortly and we'd be next in line. My group and I headed to the bench and waited politely by the table. As the group started leaving, two gentlemen who had been at the bar swooped in and sat down. I looked at the server, she shrugged her shoulders and mouthed "sorry". I know this isn't her fault. However, if I was the server I would have mentioned something to the gentlemen. We ended up leaving, without her coming up to us with any suggestions. I was not only frustrated, but concerned. As a Bendite- this isn't the vibe we want tourists to get when they visit Bend. Making eye contact with customers without saying anything, giving absolutely no direction as to how the restaurant flows (seat yourself, take a menu, wait for a server), and seemingly zero customer service....I hope Stihl understands that good whiskey will only get you so far. Good luck on making changes, I see I'm not the only one on here who suggests fixing a few customer service kinks.

Great addition to Bend. Jason, the owner, knows his spirits. Good selection of rye, small batch, single malts and bourbon.

Great little whiskey bar tucked away around the corner of the Franklin Crossing building. There have been a string of really cool bars here but they don't seem to last because the location is off the beaten path of Bond Street. They have a great selection of whiskeys, as the name implies. And the prices are all very reasonable compared with other whiskey bars I've been in. They also have some very tasty house cocktails. But it doesn't end there! The food is amazingly good too. And very reasonably priced. They have creative small plates if you're just looking for a snack (try the steak fingers - AMAZING!). And they also have great entrees. We had four of us and we each ordered something different and shared and they were all great! Atmosphere is subdued swank (yes, I did just coin that term). And the service was fast and friendly.

This little corner of downtown Bend has become a favorite of my husband and I. Obviously it has a huge selection of great whiskeys and the owner is very knowledgeable and hardworking to make this place top shelf. The presentation is great and the food is very good as well.

The Stihl Whiskey Bar, certainly, has the most comprehensive selection of whiskey and whiskey based libations in Bend. Given so many choices, I encourage visitors to talk to the staff for recommendations. You're sure to find many delicious options. There's an upscale menu to pair with your sipping needs.

I am somewhat new to yelp but I have to say I am writing this review in part because of a comment I saw about the service. I came into Stihl a few weeks ago with a large group of people (no reservation sorry) and must say I was impressed by what they had done with the place. The atmosphere was classy but welcoming and relaxing. Our server was even more impressive she was not only the sole bartender but the only server. Like everyone we had to wait our turn she was pleasant and kind as she took our orders and MADE OUR SEVERAL DRINKS. I will defiantly be back the food was different in a good way. The potatoes could be classified maybe the best potatoes ever from a restaurant and everyone at our table agreed. I had the top sirloin steak which was very tasty and cooked how I like it (rare). The only knock on this place was their vegetables (brussels sprouts) should have been cooked longer. However, that does not deter me from singing this restaurant's praises. The food over all was not what we expected but seriously a pleasant surprise in that aspect. The service was more than what we could have expected especially based on the circumstances (being a large party during their dinner rush). The cocktails obviously off the hook and the restaurant itself provided that atmosphere that made us feel comfortable staying for a couple hours, I am seriously rooting for this place and must say overall awesome.
