We were trying to figure out somewhere to eat and have drinks downtown Bend. Had heard good things about The Astro Lounge but when we walked by it was totally empty. You know what they say about an empty bar/restaurant...walk on by because there's a reason why it's empty. Well, we decided to give it a try. If anything the service would be awesome. To our surprise the bar tender knew everything about anything he had at the bar and more! He was very informative about the food menu. Had suggestions and had tried everything on the menu. We ordered our food and weren't disappointed. We had burgers, tacos and the mac & cheese. Everything was excellent. Best burger I've had in bend by far. The whole experience was memorable and will definitely return for more! 5 stars! You must try it! Greazmonky

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a higher rating, I think it is a great spot. They have happy hour until 7 pm, which is awesome and much more attainable than happy hours that end at 5 or 6. About half of their cocktails are a few bucks off ($6) during happy hour and they also have beer and daily specials. I don't think the cocktails are as good as Dogwood but they are still pretty good and they do the trick. The bite of pear is really good but it isn't on the happy hour list. The cucumber lavender mojo is good. The mirrorball is overly sweet and artificial tasting and the drinks with habanero are pretty damn hot. I have never tried the food. The service is great and there is a nice ambiance there. Definitely a good go-to spot downtown.

A really great bar. I've been going here since they were in their old location, and they still have staff from those days which I love. It's cool enough to get packed on a Friday night with young people and hip bands, yet local enough that they know me (I don't get out that often) and chat with me when I come in on a less busy occasion. Trivia night is a ton of fun, gather your friend have a good time. Their happy hour menu probably has some of the best food you can find, and it starts back up late at night FYI. They make great cocktails and they always have a good beer selection. Definitely a bar to check out if you haven't.

On a recent trip to Bend my friends and I were looking for a place to grab some drinks after dinner and play trivia. The Astro Lounge was the selected place and met the minimum expectations (beer and trivia). The beer selection was decent, but the trivia wasn't the best. The required table service was sort of weird too. I prefer going up to the bar and waiting my turn rather than wait awhile for someone come to the table. I could see this place being cool if you are a local, but as a visitor it lacks.

Great atmosphere, and I hate to give negative reviews, but I wish they would hire another waitress or two. Been here 3 times now only to not order anything at all because you can't get any service. Update - I found out that the servers treat the regulars better. We had to have one of them order for us! But then when the drinks came there was not a drop of liquor in them. They would get more regulars if they treat new customers better. Not going back again.

Wow. I've been visiting Bend a long time. I was excited to see what the new(er) location of ASTRO was like. I haven't had so much fun in years. It was completely packed with great music and of course the gorgeous people watching in Bend never dissapoints :) Even the bartenders there are hot and nice when they are slammed. This is rare as most become overwhelmed with volume. They had great mixed drinks and even affordable bottles of champagne. I showed up with a group of 22 people when it was packed to the brim and we will still received fast, friendly, service. We danced and had a great time. If you are ever in Bend and want to "go out " ASTRO is fun!!! and a great mix of people and the atmosphere rocks! Thank you. We had a ball !!

Two-ounce shots! You were pretty bomb-diggity. $45 for three Jamesons and three Fireballs? Not too shabby either (especially since they were two-ounce pours). It's got a pretty happening scene for a Saturday night, live DJ, and apparently bars in Oregon have to serve food, so you can get your drink on while snacking on appetizers, or order a second dinner!

If you want a craft cocktail from a large selection of choices. Master mixologist Ken selected the GompersGin , if you haven't tried you need to. It's made with pear ,lavender and Oregon juniper berries here locally. They do great job of show casing the local products. Great fish tacos.

I have only visited during happy hour on weekdays since I'm bringing my family (small kids) and am not into the 'club' thing. That being said, my wife and I love this place. Pros: Excellent food and the happy hour pricing is killer. Nightly drink specials are a plus. I enjoy their Pizza and kids love the mac and cheese. Cons: No highchairs for the kiddos. More of an FYI than a 'con'.

Love the Astro...the food, their amazing bar, music and people. Great atmosphere. The best thing, however, are the owners who always treat you right! They work hard to make Astro the happening place to be. Love this place!!

Saturday night, live music, ridiculous crowd and we somehow got there early enough to vulture the second booth from the stage. The Quick and Easy Boys played. quote" Imagine the Minutemen, My Morning Jacket, and Funkadelic rolled into one." the dozens of specialty drinks will knock into next week (pint glasses mostly, except that one that comes in a GIANT 18" martini glass which my girl FORBID me from having). the service is amazing (I've never been hugged for ordering a drink before). definitely a "younger" crowd, great ratio, but hey, the 35-45 y.o. VCs we partied with the next night were apparently three booths down and had a BLAST too. Then the table next to us invited us to come to Summit with them around midnight. We thought...can it really get better than THIS? Oh yeah... and it did. ...to be continued.

After spending over $50 here on two drinks (this lady and her man know how to drink)....I can honestly say that their selection of whiskey is bomb. Loud conversations can't really be heard over the DJ that spins, but you'll have fun dancing on the floor.

Astro has an amazingly well-stocked bar. They carry virtually any liquor you could ask for, have a nice beer selection (I didn't look into the wine list), and serve up some very high quality apps and salads (I haven't yet been in for a full meal, but what I saw looked excellent). It's right in the middle of downtown Bend, making it walking distance from tons of other night spots. Oh, and the staff is unbelievably attractive. Unbelievably. Also very good at their jobs.

Would give this place 3.5 stars, but there is no option. Pretty fun place to drink, usually pretty busy. Drinks are reasonable, although I prefer cheaper bars.

Doorman was nice, but it was all downhill from there. We came into town on a Friday evening, looking for drinks and snacks, and were walking down the street. The Astro's doorman encouraged us to come in. Okay. We found a small table outside. We sat there as the waitstaff passed us by ... and passed by... and passed by... we even made eye contact, but not so much as a "be right with you". As the evening wore on and we became more thirsty and more hungry, with no respite in sight, we decided we'd be better off ANYWHERE else, and that was the end of the Astro for us. If you are a masochist, this is the place for you! Truly pathetic "service."

Unbelievable selection of alcohols. Best in town. The waitress I had was easy on the eyes. 5 stars.

I'm reviewing this as a nightlife location as I haven't been there for happy hour or lunch. That being qualified, this place is great. The drinks are reasonable, the DJ's have always been superb, and the atmosphere is great. Astro is my Friday night bar of choice.

We loved the food at former location. Overall, I'd go back, but the experience was not exceptional. NOTE: Happy hour is 4-7pm, which is later than anywhere else downtown. My first visit to new location was on a Saturday night during a big downtown event. GREAT menu offerings, hours, and prices. But... First, we got weird looks when we entered at 6pm with 2 kids in tow, and were told "Kids aren't allowed to be seated after 7, and they must be out by 8." No problem. So we perused the menu (one per table!?) and found some tempting choices. Local beer on tap was on special for happy hour, but only had IPA's and blonde bombshell (yuk!); I would have preferred a hefe or something, anything less bitter. Ordered one anyway; it never came. But at least we weren't billed for it. To eat, we ordered the arugula salad which was outstanding (even though they were out of arugula and I said OK to sub mixed greens). Very tasty and LOTS of hazelnuts, in fact could've had half the nuts. And only $6! Burger with lots of blue cheese and fantastic crispy sweet potato fries: $6. Kids Mac & cheese: excellent. Astro piza (proscuitto and roasted tomatoes) was WAY too salty, almost inedible. Use less proscuitto! I also ordered a beet salad, which never came, but was on our bill. Hmm. Server was friendly and attentive but stuff just took too long and why did so items (beer, beet salad) get missed? Restaurant was annoyingly loud--we were yelling at our own table without realizing it. Then, credit card machine wasn't working so we paid cash and left. I would try again, but geez, better fix these bugs in new location or else Astro will be in trouble! I give it 3 stars because despite the service issues, the food was good and a very good value at Happy Hour.

I've been back since my initial review and the service was better. I think some of the staff was different - they were faster and friendlier this time around.

Went on a Thursday evening. It wasn't busy. Bartender was good but waitress was extremely slow and unattentive. We saw our food order sitting in the window, getting cold, waiting for her to bring it to our table while she was busy eating chips off a plate in the window and chatting with what appeared to be a friend, not a customer. Food was decent considering. Another night I came with a group of 10 girls and after 10-15 mins of sitting down without on server coming to our table we left.

Their happy hour prices are good, but their service is slow. It was so crappy we left after one drink and went to the dive bar next door that made better drinks and promptly waited on us. I am sure it's fun at night when they have a dj.

Amelia is my absolute FAVORITE bartender!! I recently moved to Bend and she single handedly has made Astro by far my favorite place to grab a cocktail. She is always smiling and friendly and serving up new inventive drinks! Tell her what you like and she will make you the best cocktail you have EVER tasted!

Went will colleagues and ordered martinis. The bartender was even up for making a drink via an email on my phone, and it turned out perfect...I had another! Funky little spot to grab a good cocktail.

Great pizza at a good price. The perfect crust is made in house and is crunchy on the outside/ chewy on the inside. We split the the duck confit pizza which was plenty for two and showcased smokey chunks of bacon, creamy goat cheese and sweer/savory onion jam. I couldnt really taste the duck. Sadly, the duck confit pizza is being removed from the menu and astro will no longer be open for lunch. The atmosphere is a bit cold but perfect for a casual affordable meal after shopping and the menu is really fun. Can't wait to try the polenta and shrimp!
