Good coffee, friendly staff, large lobby with lots of seating. Downsides include the fact that the large lobby *always* has lots of flies buzzing around, and the light in the men's room has been flickering on/off like a strobe for almost a month now. A good manager could resolve these negatives in their first hour on the job...

Sorry, not a fan and not just because I like to shop local. Coffee was great 25 years ago and then they stopped buying their beans from Peet's. Good chai. Always nice staff. Coffee isn't great. Treats aren't great either, seemingly mass produced. Starbucks are everywhere, but there are a lot of other great local options out there.

It's a Starbucks like any other Starbucks...nothing special, and you get what you expect (the same experience in every single one).

The "new" Starbucks in Bend - not impressed. Mediocre everything - service, drink....

One thing I've learned in the year I've lived in Bend, if it's more than two minutes away people think it's "far". I'm used to driving 20 - 30 minutes to get places so we frequently head off to Redmond or Sisters for things, people always tell us we are out of our minds. So, it should come as no surprise that when I'm in need of coffee and downtown Bend or Century Drive Starbucks are closed I drive to the "south" side of town to get my fix. This is the only Starbucks in town that stays open late, which is an especially good thing when I'm working late and need a quad soy latte! The people are super friendly, service is great, and they've only made my drink wrong once. And they were super quick and apologetic, had it re-made and a coupon for a free beverage in my hand before they could even finish saying they were sorry they made a mistake. Not bad! Inside there is a separate area that customers can use for meetings, which is awesome. And they have more tables, chairs and outlets than any of the other Starbucks in town, which makes it the ideal air-conditioned office-away-from-the-office on a super hot day.

Reincarnated as Starbuck's store number 441 in space that had a prior life as a less than mediocre (par for Bend) Chinese food place and a subsequent life as a good Hawaiian restaurant that went on to a better location in Bend's Old Mill District. So it has checkered past lives, but this is a good location for Bend's newest Starbuck's coffee store. Making a total of eleven Starbucks stores now, I think, in this little town of just about 70,000 people. Then again, we have about the same number of independent coffee roasters in Bend. And about the same number of micro breweries. This is a town that likes its brew, of the coffee bean and other varieties. And as Starbuck's coffee stores go, this one has a nice little surprise inside. But first, a note about location marker. Starbuck's #441 can be found in the Reed Market Plaza in a sort of equal opportunity location right across the big parking lot from Dollar Store, right next door to the Mercedes Benz dealer, about one block down from the Toyota dealership and just across the street from a cheap (and bad) fast food taco joint. We visited this new Starbuck's for the first time yesterday to recharge in between dealers while shopping for a new car. You need a shot of caffeine to stay one step ahead of those car salesmen! Here's what we liked about this Starbuck's store, aside from the friendly people, fully accessible buildings and clean bathrooms that make us go into Starbuck's in the first place. (It really isn't so much about the coffee.) Listed below, with the nice surprise saved for last. 1. A large interior with seating for about 36 people and including a "living room" set up of a comfy leather sofa and about six leather chairs. 2. Nice outdoor patio, being adjacent to Hiway 97 aside, with table and chair seating for maybe 20 people with big pots of blooming flowers to add ambiance. 3. Large, open space leading up to and past the order counter for good customer "traffic flow" inside. 4. A drive up window. (We never use drive ups but realize others like them.) 5. The piece de resistance here - a small meeting room with a table and chairs for seating as many as ten! This is semi private in that there is a curtain one can pull. (Auditory privacy unlikely of course.) And it has an interesting mural painted on the wall. Plus use of this room is FREE. (You need to sign up with the store folk to reserve it.) How COOL is this? I've worked with local citizen groups in the past who were always in search of meeting space that would hold eight or ten and which they didn't have to pay to use. This will be a well used little space once it is discovered. And now you know it is here. Next time I go in, there will be a next time, I'll remember my camera to take a photo of that cool little meeting room.
