Just ok. Nicely decorated but not friendly at all. If you are with a group and just want to be left alone with your own drinks it will probably be great but the drinks were slow. I sat at the bar and the staff just wasn't warm or friendly. An older gentleman sat two seats down from me and the bartender appeared to know him but didn't take even a minute to greet him. He just said/asked "Stella", one word conversation and then the customer said yes. Nothing from the bartender..."I'll get that as soon as I pour a couple others"....anything...nope he just turned and walked away. He made a few drinks, poured the beer and just set it down in front of the customer without saying anything. How about "hello" or "how are you today"? When the customer asked the bartender for another Stella he didn't even look up at him or acknowledge him in any manner. I thought perhaps the bartender did not hear his request. Again the bartender made a few drinks and then eventually poured the customer his beer and set it down in front of him and walked away...saying nothing. Weird, cold and creepy. I just put my head down, did some work on my company phone and was surprised when the bartender asked me if I wanted another drink? Why? I have a great bottle of wine in my hotel with a better view (and warmer ambiance). The Hilton Garden Inn top floor with a river view is a wonderful place to stay at a great price...guess I should review that too. Perhaps the bar tender was just busy or having an off night but there was also an attractive brunette behind the bar who never looked around or smiled. She was so pretty, a simple smile would have lit up the place. It is a bit trendy and I'd say perhaps they have the "snobby" or "we are so cool" attitude but the place was empty on a Friday night. Can't be that cool. Again, if you have your own group and time to wait it is nicely decorated so it could be a nice place to hang out. I just hate to support places with staff who have an attitude or lack of personality. I had a Cider, it was $5.00, about average price. Easy parking, enter from the side (elevator to the venue behind a door). In a nice shopping area. A movie had just let out from the nearby theater and patrons were walking right by the bar. It could have been crowded if the locals liked it, nothing pulled them towards the bar as they walked right by.

Don't bother...better places in town! I ordered a dirty martini and they put scotch in with the vodka. Yuck! The waitress said it was very popular but I choked it down. The waitress just kept walking by without checking back too. Seemed unorganized and didn't get a great vive here! Won't be going back!

Good prompt service from friendly professionals. Happy Hour menu is creative and the drinks were very good. Inside has cool hip vibe, outside patio is open and easy to people watch. I'll definitely be back.

This has become our regular place in Old Mill to have a drink and if we are hungry a good meal. The food is adventurous and well made and the drinks are creative and tasty.

What a cozy little place, with a great happy hour deal! We used our Yelp check in offer and only paid $4 for a cocktail and a beer! I liked my lavender collins, but it wasn't as strong as I'd like it to be, even though it tasted really delicious! Matt B.'s beer was luke warm. I'm not sure if that was how it was supposed to be so I questioned Matt, and he said maybe some places just serve their beer like this, as if it was normal... since I'm not a big beer drinker, and I've heard of places that do it, but that warm beer just did not taste good to me. I don't know how Matt stomached that entire pint. The balcony was a nice place to sit on a sunny warm day!

This place is small but they seem to care about what they do, and the drinks are capably made. Not terrible for a date spot. Very nice (and honestly beautiful) bartender when I was in one afternoon.

The drinks last night were good.. The service was nice but slow.. The appetizers ok, nothing blew my taste buds away. The Caesar salad was BAD - lettuce had a lot of brown to black edges.. The wine they listed for $35 was to be a bottle of 2008 and they brought out the 2010 - Umm what happened to the '08 or '09 - we just jump to 2010 - ? you haven't been in business long enough to go through two other vintages?? I was surprised they did not compensate for it, but did not put up a fuss .. The meals were better but again nothing mind blowing.. Glad I tried it to know that I will likely only return late night for a drink..

This place was pathetic!! I went here with a group, so I couldn't just get up and leave, which is exactly what I wanted to do. I ordered a cosmopolitan, without simple syrup and with Crater Lake Vodka, calamari, and the hummus plate. When the waitress came back with two Cosmo's in her hands one lady went up to her and said she ordered one with extra alcohol; she handed the lady one of them and then proceeded to say " who else ordered a Cosmo?". The waitress did NOT specify the drink had premium vodka and no sugar. When I said I had but I had ordered with extras she said it had to be mine. ?? I took it and tasted it and it sure tasted like it had sugar in it, but I'd never had a Cosmo before, so I don't know. Well, I can tell you now, after the splitting headache I got, it had simple syrup in it, and quite possibly cheap vodka. I never get headaches from two drinks if I drink Crater Lake Vodka and no sugar. Next we have the food. The calamari was breaded, in salt, and wayyy over cooked. It was like eating over cooked rubber bands with a solid salt crust. Disgusting. I tried to get my group to eat it and they wouldn't touch it. The hummus might have been hummus. It was so over-spiced, you couldn't even tell what it was originally. The only thing worth eating was the bread and the olives. Seriously, don't waste your money. You'll find better tasting food at the food carts found throughout Bend.

I love this place - But I am hesitant on giving it a review because I like it as a local's spot. The service is exceptional with owner seeminly always present making sure your visit is wonderful. Great happy hour and a relaxed back room that can be reseerved for parites OR maybe you just want to hang out in a cool living room type of space.

I've tried Level 2 twice, really hoping to enjoy the fun atmosphere and happy hour menu. Unfortunately the food has been incredibly bland, aside from the pizza. In addition, the poor waitstaff are ruled by a curt and rude manager/owner, who seriously lacks people skills. She was even rude to us as customers, really souring the experience. It's too bad, the space itself has so much potential.

This spot has had several owners and I think Level 2 might be here to stay, or at least I hope it will. They have a great happy hour, good food, good drinks, good prices - that meet my requirements for a great happy hour. The smoked pork belly sliders and calamari should not be missed, very tasty. I don't love the decor, but that's not the end of the world. It's pretty swanky which is not a bad thing. This is the spot to hit after a day of shopping at the Old Mill.

We love this place. We came here when they first opened and we were new to Bend. Over time it has been fun to watch this place grow and business get better and better, even though our secret is out of the bag. It's a great alternative to the standard recommendations people hand out when coming to Bend. The menu is diverse and the owners keep up on the menu to suit the needs of their customers. From the small balcony that over looks the Old Mill you can watch beautiful sunsets over the Cascades. If you are looking for standard bar food this isn't your place. We enjoy the atmosphere service, drinks and food very time. Take the stairs to Level 2 next time you are at the Old Mill in Bend.

Great service. Food as expected (average) Outdoor seating awesome. Lettuce wraps recommended. Steak doneness cooked as ordered.

Unfortunately, was with a large group where someone else chose this dump. The service has to be worst I have experienced in years. First, don't give the waitress your credit card to start a tab. Will be lucky to see it again. And the waitress could care less. Someone in our party practically choked on the food. Mine looked like slop. If I wasn't with a group I would have walked out from the start.

First off I would like to start off with one star is one to many. This was our second time coming here. The first time my husband and I only had drinks. My friend and I came and just had appetizers. We ended up ordering the Calamari and the ahi tuna. It all tasted pretty good very over priced for the portions and quality of food. Early next morning I woke up to horrible stomach cramps and vomiting I had to call in sick to work. I had thought I had just caught a stomach bug until my friend texted me later that day saying she woke up around the same time with the same symptoms. Food poisoning yuck!!! We will never be returning here again definitely not worth it.

I've never seen an establishment with such a great location care less about their service, quality of food or cleanliness. This is literally the worst place in Bend unless you're a masochist.

  • Cat N.

Not a fan! The drink the waitress suggested was horrible. I like the location but don't plan on going back. Services was lousy and unfriendly. Seemed a bit dirty too. Go to Dogwood for great drinks, atmosphere and location! Order the warm nuts...amazing! Happy hour martini's are $6 bucks too!

I will first state that this is the second time I came here and this review is based on the second and last time I will frequent this place. The atmosphere is hip and trendy which was nice. However they are extremely over priced and their menu offerings are subpar. Think gastropub meets asian food. The first time I went I had pork sliders, however for the price they are not worth it. tasty but severely overpriced. We started with the calamari. The calamari came soggy and cold, completely inedible. We notified the waitress (the only reason this got 1 star and the fact that you cannot give zero stars) who fixed it right away for us. I ordered the salmon salad. My salad came with ZERO dressing because they forgot it, that's fine it happens. The salmon was ice cold and tasted turned. I grew up in the PNW and know all the types of salmon preparations. This was a smoked salmon, which should have kept, but it was soggy like really watery and tasted rotten. My husband asked for no bacon on his burger and they loaded it with bacon. The patty was dry and had no real flavor. Think hockey puck on a nice bun. When I told the waitress about the salmon she was mortified and got the owner. This is where the situation went from bad to worse. The owner came out and told me that maybe my taste buds were off, and that maybe I just didn't like the preparation or understand that is how it is prepared. She then stated that other people like the salad. She wasn't getting that the fish was rotten and continued to blame my taste buds. She then said "well do you want chicken or something" I politely said no, I will eat the greens and forego the protein. She was unapologetic, condescending and quite rude. Her pretentiousness is unfounded as this place has a terrible offering specifically for the price. You are paying for a convenient location, a "hip" name and trendy atmosphere. I will not go back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. If the owner had come out and been more apologetic rather than blaming, I didn't want free food, I didn't ask to have it removed, I just wanted food prepared right. Her attitude made me want nothing more than to quickly finish and get out. Had she acted respectfully toward someone giving her money, it would have changed my entire experience. I would chalk it up to the chef having a bad day. But telling me that my taste buds should enjoy watery soggy rotting salmon is where I draw the line.

We stopped in late (about an hour-ish before closing) on a lovely summer night and had the opportunity to sit outside. Between ourselves we shared a variety of appetizers as a late supper (the sliders were one of my favorites), and I had one of the best gin-based drinks that I have had for a while (the Kazuo).

Hmm. The word cocktail is in the restaurant description. Methinks that might mean I like this place. And I do! My favorite margarita in town, the cilantro jalapeño version, lives here, and I visit her often. Ladyfriends seem to love the Lavender Collins. Ahhhhh, Margie. So spicy, so peppy. What a hottie. And the food is not only good but the menu is inspired! Truly so, they describe themselves as global fusion, and they live up to it. Nearly everything we've had there has been good, and along with Greg's Grill, they are the only Happy Hour on the weekend (that I know of- I am currently doing lots of research on said weekend HH's). They also have a balcony overlooking the Old Mill shops and the river. Yep. Please go here. The best places I have loved here over the years have disappeared as tourists bring their perpetual need to swill beer to town, and skip places like this. C'mon. You live in Bend. Aren't you jaded by the brew scene yet? Crimeny, I brewed throughout the 90's when it was still interesting, but now, I'm a grown up. It's time for a cocktail. Literally. The beer will still be there when you get back. But you will have a better buzz and you won't feel like a cement filled beach ball when you get it.

Started out slow and then got better as the evening progressed. Unique spot in the mill And though you are unable to see the river, The view is wonderful. Good wine list. Nice specials and some unique tastes. But for me, the best is dessert and drinks. Fun outdoor seating and incredible cheesecake! This is a must do if you would like a after dinner drink and dessert with a great view.

Nice little place for a drink and appetizer in The Old Mill. Nice interior and outdoor seating overlooking the Deschutes and Old Mill area. We had good cocktails and just an ok Thai lettuce wrap. Service was ok and prompt.

My wife and I really enjoy coming in for a drink, or two, at this fun Old Mill District Restaurant and Bar. Overlooking the Deschutes River and views of Mt. Bachelor from the 2nd story is an added bonus. With several items on the menu less than $10, I am always impressed with the quality and attention to detail when it comes to food preparation. No matter what, I always order the house smoked fish tacos. The type of fish rotates depending on the fish special of the week. My wife loves the fresh hummus plate. Yes, I said FRESH hummus, not out of a tub. Cocktails are in house creations and rotate with the seasons. The bartenders cater to you libational needs, from martinis to your custom designed cocktail. With limited tap handles, I am always impressed with the selection. From local to regional breweries there has never been a beer on draft that I did say, "let me try that". I can't recommend Level 2 anymore. It's a place for locals and those from out of town. Take a break from life and step or go up, via elevator, to Level 2.

Me & my boyfriend were in town to go up to Bachelor. We stopped by here. It's upstairs. It was pretty busy and packed from what I saw from the entry there was a long bar area and lots of tables all that were occupied. We were told it would be a minute by a polite Asian boy & we were seated within 5 min. Which is great! We were seated in a large COMFY booth with nice fluffy pillows! Lved that! Our waitress was polite & her service was great! I had the meatloaf sandwhich in which I DEVOURED. it feel apart a little but I'm not bitchin shit was good! & my bf had....Some chicken entrée w/sweet mashed potatoes. He said that it lacked flavoring and I guess he was thinking it was something different :( his entrée was not as largely portioned as you would think for the price. BUT regardless he ate it and I loved my burger. It was very dim yet inviting in the booth we sat in. There were large windows which i liked.

Once a year I fall off the wagon (vegan). This year after a stop at Goodlife, I continued on to Level 2. Jarrett was working, that's a plus. He recommended the American Burger (over the Meat loaf burger). It was succulent, decadent and perfect all at the same time. I sometimes wonder if people don't know about the creatively rotating taps here, the fantastic service, the happy hour deals and the stellar food. Where are the throngs of people??? Regardless, give Level 2 a try while Simply Mac fixes your daughters iPhone. You'll thank me or... ya, I have to punch you in the face again.. repeatedly.

Meh, It's alright but needs work. I have been a few times over the last year and this place continues to disappoint food and service wise. The servers seem untrained and they seem to not really care. I'd gladly order more $9 scotches than one, if they would bother to ever come back to the table or listen. A lady who seems to always be there, possibly an owner, seems hurried (even when there is no one there) and busy doing nothing. On the good side; the atmosphere and location is awesome. I really like the overall look and art work. The outside deck is fantastic and the place as a whole is hip looking, cool and comfortable. The calamari was overcooked and really small. We foolishly ordered another to see if it would be done better and it was not. Their spring rolls are the rice paper, bright fresh type and they were great. The hummus was slightly over spiced but pretty good. A friend had the teriyaki chicken wings and they had an awesome sauce that made them great. Overall the food is slightly overpriced and small portioned when it comes to appetizers. Every time I've been, I opt to eat an entrée somewhere else after trying a few things.

Without fail I have an amazing experience here every time! The food is incredible. Those potato skin-thingys.... OMG! Drinks are awesome as well. Staff has always been wonderful. I've come here for Silpada parties as well and the owner always makes sure we are well taken care of. One of my favorite places to come!

  • Katie A.

The general consensus of reviews are fairly accurate, it was so so. Not the worst but certainly not the best. Our server was slow and rather unattentive. The food was unseasoned and small portions. There house specialty cocktail needs some work.

My husband and I come almost every weekend. We love Level 2 for happy hour. The menu offers a great variety of options for both of us (I can get the best fish tacos or spring rolls; and he can get his sliders and pizza). The service is fantastic and the decor is refreshing. They also have beautiful views of the mountains and people watching from the balcony in the summer. Level 2 was our secret spot when the rest of Old Mill was packed. But the good word about Level 2 is definitely out, which is great for Level 2!

  • Windy S.

Cool place. Went here for dinner one night and had the smoked fish tacos, which I thought were really good! Their version of salad rolls weren't that great, I would pass on these. My co-worker had the Pork Medallions and she said the pork was tender and cooked perfectly. Cocktails are okay. We also tried this place for Happy Hour. Good food, cocktails again were just okay. The champagne raspberry cocktail was decent. I would definitely eat here again, especially for the fish tacos!

The old classic tune that Sinatra used to sing has a lyric that goes like this: "It's a quarter to three, There's no one in the place except you and me..." Although the sound system was blaring Bono's "Beautiful Day" when we arrived at Level 2 at a quarter to six on a Friday night, it was the Sinatra classic that popped into my head. Because this cocktail bar / restaurant was eerily underpopulated, although it was still happy hour time. Particularly odd as it was the monthly art / shops event known as First Friday in Bend when bars and restaurants are particularly busy, packed even. We'd been invited by an artist at a nearby gallery to come see her featured work. Afterward we decided to give Level 2 a try since it was conveniently just up the street. "Let's see if we can get in." As it turns out no problem there. Overall experience was not so poor that we might not go back another time if was the most convenient option. But Level 2 is not a place we'd seek out. Some things worked but they were counter balanced by things that didn't. As example... ...our server was friendly but as a customer it was off putting that a woman, who appeared to be one of the owners, was lecturing another server about performance and policy putting the customers squarely in the mix . ...the calamari appetizer we ordered off the happy hour menu was good enough but very small in size ...the specialty cocktails were discounted a buck off regular price for happy hour and were tasty enough but not so good that we didn't wish we were somewhere else. ...the menu is reminiscent of 5 Fusion downtown (same owners), but that sort of fusion food just doesn't fit with the Old Mill converted warehouse setting. Overall, there seemed a lack of cohesive focus about the place. If that makes sense. As a customer it was discordant. Compare it to the experience at Joolz or Zydeco or Brickhouse Bend or or 10 Barrel as example. Each of those places seems to have defined their target audience and orchestrated menu and ambiance around that. As if "they know what they want to be when they grow up". Although each of these places are quite different from the other, each of them clicks for what they are with the customer audience they serve. In return hey are rewarded with brisk business. Unless this was a fluke at Level 2 on our visit, it can't be a good thing for them that on a Friday night between 6:00 and 7:00 at the height of tourist season there couldn't have been more than ten customers present, spread between bar, restaurant seating and outside deck. Here are a couple of TIPS if you go: 1) There is a spacious elevator that really can't be missed for the big LEVEL 2 letters on its door to take you upstairs. But we did miss it and I can say there are 14 steps before the landing turn to climb several more. Look for the elevator. ;-) 2) One of the good things about Level 2's space is there are five seating areas: Outside deck (west facing and wicked hot in the summer afternoons and evenings), bar, right of bar, left of bar, and a room in the back the staff calls "the garage". Had we known about the garage when we entered, we would have picked it to sit in. Cool space - literally in the summer and figuratively all the time. Check it out.

Eclectic menu with some tasty items sure to please any one's palate. Happy hour is a great value on food and drinks. Service is always great and the food is quick to the table. Menu changes seasonally and there is a fish and steak special on the dinner board. I love the fried rice and bok choy, the wife digs the smoked fish tacos. Love you guys!

Went over the Labor Day weekend for a friend's birthday. What a disappointment! Service was sub-par and the food was from mediocre to bad. The few things that were good were the drinks (Old 51 and Sparkling Raspberry) and the pizza on naan bread. The wife and I ordered dinner (not apps) and were not please. I had the Makers Baby Back ribs which were dry. I asked for some bbq sauce since it didn't come with any. I never got it. Never got water refills either. The wife had the Angel Hair with chicken. Gross. Cold pieces of cubed chicken with what looked like leftover veggies from the pizza and what tasted like soba noodles. Our friends had the Grilled Ceasar, Calamari, Fish Tacos and potato skins. They were not impressed. This place won't be on our list to take friends when they come to visit. Too bad.

If you are looking for a cozy place to grab a drink or dinner, you have to try Level 2. I typically stay in the Old Mill district when I am in bend and make a point to stop in each trip. Each time I have had great service, food and always enjoy the atmosphere. I have held several work dinners and client events at level2 and the owner has accommodated my needs each time. They are willing to work with you on a set menu and have a great back room to hold events.

Great place to grab a late night snack and drinks! Loved the atmosphere, brick walls, cozy seats, a great view- it's on the second floor (hence the name). The crab mac and cheese was delish, although I was surpised to taste other veggies in there that was not listed on the menu. Kind of a surprise! The drinks- very good too. We did not like the bread pudding so we sent it back and our waitress kindly took it off the bill.... I would say this place is probably best for it's drinks...good times!

Level 2 has the most DELICIOUS mojito's EVER. The happy hour has unbelievably low prices. I suggest a mojito and the tofu lettuce wraps. The service is good, the location is fabulous, but watch those prices after happy hour- they can get you and bring you right back down from that buzz!
