This place is going to be the death of me, it's conveniently located by my house, and SO DELICIOUS. I'm there at least 3 days a week now. Must try: Lemon Poppy seed Cake or any of the cupcakes. Oh, the cheesecake was fabulous, too. Fiance almost peed his pants when he tried their carrot cake. They have great deals on their day old stuff, you can go there, drop $10, and leave with a bag full of mouthwatering treaties. I just ordered 2 dozen pumpkin cupcakes with caramel buttercream for the office Halloween party, trust me, they are DELISH!

I've been seeing and sampling the goodies from this bakery for years in and around Beaverton, today I decided to order a bunch of cookies for a club function. They need to change their name to cookie heaven!! I got a dozen chocolate chip, six peanut butter and six snickerdoodles. Everyone raved about all of them. They are huge, hearty and delicious. We will be back!

If just grading on customer service, they would get 5 stars. The gentleman who helped me with my order was friendly and took a lot of care to make sure the order was correct. Kudos to him. I'm a sweets buff and am particularly fond of cake. There's very few cakes I don't like. Unfortunately, our cake from the Dessert Tray was one of them. We ordered the Black and White cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it was not tasty. It was very dry, the chocolate had very little chocolate flavor, and there were sugar granules that crunched in the buttercream frosting, which also did not have a good texture. Was globby and a bit oily tasting, not creamy. I see that most other reviews are positive so I am hoping that this is an isolated experience, however the first time makes a big impression so we will probably not be back. Thank you for your excellent service, though.

We had them make a vegan cake for my daughter for her birthday and it was AMAZING. Moist and full of flavor. Will be back next time we need a vegan cake. Thanks again.

I'm so happy (and honestly, relieved) to say that Robin contacted me to apologize for my experience. I so wanted to be able to like (and even love) this place, but the follow-through really made it a tough sell. However, she tried to make everything right with me, which I appreciate and which really redeemed the experience for me.

Friendly service. Got the lemon poppyseed cake. The cake was just OK. A little dry. I also prefer my icing creamier and sweeter.

This place was great!! friendly customer services and they call you to make sure everything is spelled correctly. The cake was strawberry shortcake style with fresh strawberries very tasty. I gave 4 star because I would have liked more strawberries just love strawberrys. The design was great, I found a picture online and they were able to recreate it in such a short time I will be going here for future cakes and treats!! Very pleased with this place.

"Keep Portland Tiered" as in cakes... get it? I thought this was a funny tagline that the Dessert Tray in Beaverton uses. Oh yeah, don't you DARE go to Beaverton Bakery for your treats, just walk one block down and hit this place. OMG their treats are SO good and made fresh daily.

Fantastic thick delicious cookies and pastries, PERFECT PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES! I will NOT go to any other bakery! 2 reasons. 1. When shopping around for wedding cakes, we had a couple of bad experiences. (Charging $35 per person for the consultation, lackluster cakes, etc.) NOT SO, HERE! Robin was wonderful, attentive, and contributed to our tasting and decision. At one point, I asked if they could do a yellow cake with lemon curd filling. SHE WENT BACK, GRABBED A FRESH CAKE, AND WHIPPED UP SLICES OF EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR IN SECONDS!!! Needless to say, we went with them for the wedding cake. The complimentary Anniversary topper a year later was fantastic as well. 2. Fast forward a few years, we've been using them for all our birthdays and celebrations, never a bad experience. I'm graduating from Technical school, so my wife orders me my favorite cake, "With some sort of graphic appropriate to the occasion." (Yellow cake, lemon curd filling, chocolate ganache icing, btw) The cake comes out during the party and I'm elated. A little computer made from fondant, oh, and it's got ones and zeros on it, yay for binary! As I cut into it, I'm struck by a thought. "I wonder if the binary says anything?" I plug the long string of digits into my binary translator and what do you know? THEY WROTE OUT "CONGRATULATIONS" IN BINARY ON MY CAKE! :D That's customer service the likes of which I will reward with my business for the rest of my life. Word of warning, the parking lot is small and Saturdays are busy, as they have sales on the aforementioned cookies.

I love going by and picking up a new treat. It doesn't matter if it's a bar, cupcake, slice of something or an entire cake it will be heaven on your tongue. They have fun creations and beautiful wedding cakes. The service is good, they are friendly and ready to help. I gave it four stars for two reasons: 1) I'd like to see more selections in the cases 2) Lack of parking. This is one I'll keep going back to.

Sometimes I just get cravings for sweets, and on my way to school I passed by this place many times. Today I decided to stop by and chose Swedish cream for quick pick me up. Guy who works at counter was friendly and helpful. Even brought me napkin and spoon! I am happily off to school with sweet sensation left in my mouth. So rich and creamy but not too sweet. During the finals I'd be sure to come back for more.

Update 4/!4, I ordered a dozen and a half cupcakes for my Mom's 75th birthday party and the cupcakes were delicious. Chocolate cake with Chocolate frosting, sooo yummy. I am done with you know who up the road and I will be seeing these folks for my sweet treat needs from now on!

Update, and oh it's still 5 stars. Fiance brought me a lovely dessert assortment from Dessert Tray for Valentine's Day. He knows me well. Chocolate mousse in a chocolate heart topped with raspberries! Baked custard! Yummy fudge cake! Raspberry oatmeal bar! Cupcake! Mmmmm it was all heaven.

I've been here multiple times since I moved to beaverton in 2012 and always loved their cakes, bars and brownies. Went there this week and got a lemon bar, carrot cake slice, almond cheesecake bar and brownie. The cake and brownie were amazing but the cheesecake bar was definitely lacking in cheesecake flavor and texture. It wasnt reminiscent of cheesecake whatsoever and the almond crust was 3/4 of the bar. The lemon bar was the most disappointing thing of all.. 3/4 of the bar was pastry dough, topped with a paper thin layer of lemon 'filling' that barely tasted like lemon and was overpowered by a very thick coating of powdered sugar. All we could taste was dough and powdered sugar, no texture or flavor of the lemon filling. I put more lemon on my salmon than they put in the lemon bars! Neither me, my boyfriend, mother in law or sister in law could eat the bar so it was tossed in the trash. But, their carrot cake was on point so I suppose they redeemed themselves in a way. I just do not recommend their 'bars'.

We were looking for a different 5 star bakery we found off of Yelp to find that it wasn't available for walk-ins, rather, it was for catering and events only. My wife knew of this place as it's in one of the neighborhoods we frequent in our errands. It's a bit inconspicuous with a very tiny parking lot. They have some preparations out in the cold cases that kind of felt like a reluctant attempt to humor the walk-in customers, rather than an extravagant attempt to generate buzz and obtain more walk-in customers. We were looking for goodies for a co-workers birthday, and I figured they might possibly be tired of the usual donuts that I bring and thought I'd try something else. They have several cakes that aren't conducive to stand-up eating in a fast paced environment. They have lots of bars but the bars are gigantic and easily a meal in themselves. I wanted to ask them to quarter them to make more appropriate portions but didn't want to be "that guy" so I picked a couple lemon bars, a couple chocolate, and a couple different cookies and a cheesecake bar for ourselves and a coffee beverage. The cheesecake bar has a layer of a much needed fruit glaze which helps to cut through the super-richness of cheesecake. I asked the staff about the rest of the foodstuffs when I worked the next day since there wasn't any left, which says something in itself since there's usually donuts left the next day. "The chocolate bar was good but it gave me diabetes". "The lemon bar was good but it had too much powdered sugar even after I shook it upside down" no one admitted to eating the mammoth peanutbutter cookies or the snickerdoodles. likely ashamed that they just ate 500 calories in one cookie while the other's cut their bars in half. The gal watching the counter was super nice and had a sense of humor when toddlermonster liked what he saw in the cold case and proceeded to walk around to her side of the counter as he was trying to figure out how to get to the cake. The crew was busy making these adorable tiny personal sized tier cakes in the background. Would definitely recommend these guys for catering and weddings, but the walk-in experience was kinda meh.

When I was a kid and felt whiny and pathetic, my mom would bake something with me. Nothing like the warm smells of vanilla and cinnamon to make you feel better. And the mom time. I'mfeeling fairly whiny and pathetic this week. My 84 year old dad is a pain in my big butt, my job is challenging, my tween is rude, my mom's roommate in her care facility isn't my favorite and there's nothing to do about it...my eyesight requires so called progressive lenses ( nice way to tell me I'm freaking old) and my husband hates Valentine's Day so he is in a mood. Oh and I started having a migraine on my way back across town from Gresham to Hillsboro by way of Beaverton. Hmm. Downtown Beaverton. What to do? See what is up at Dessert Tray. They had chocolate rum mousse in little cups not to mention all kinds of tempting treats in the case up front. They also had day old stuff in little bags off to one side. SWEEET! Cookies for 75 cents, a paltry sum for chocolate chip cornflaky crunchy chewy goodness. Cinnamon bundt cake slices for a buck. I took some home for another time... after I dropped a cookie off with hubby at the nameless shoe place with the big attitude. Sometimes he needs a cookie too. I don't have time to bake right now but I can light a cinnamon or vanilla candle and eat my cookie in a bubble bath and try to channel something a bit better than whiny and pathetic.Maybe I will have to eat salad for dinner to counteract all that, but that is ok. I like Dessert Tray. Nice little local bakery with good people and sweet surprises.

Friday afternoon, the parking lot is empty and when I walked in, no one in sight. A good min or two goes by before someone greets me. He wasn't all that enthused about their products. One star off. I look around the offerings and there aren't much choices; I've seen 3 times the selections from a bakery booth at a farmers market. You only have a few cakes that scream cloyingly sweet and a couple of cookies and nothing else and you call yourself a bakery? One star off. Still, willing to give them a try, I bought chocolate moose with raspberries and creme brulee. Creme brulee was in a glass container that they charge extra "deposit" that you get back if you return it. yeah, no, you did not have to use the glass. One star off. Finally, the taste? the moose wasn't all that chocolately; it had more sugar taste than chocolate taste. the creme brulee was okay - not the worst, but not the best, either. I'd take 2 stars off for this, but yelp requires that I give at least one star.

We were shopping around at Video Only and we were on our way to dinner. I saw the word "Dessert" on the sign and told my boyfriend I NEEDED to pick something up for dessert later. The ladies were sweet - just like the goodies they sell. Ha ha ha... All of the dessert items we picked up were delicious. They were helping a little girl design her birthday cake (I overheard her saying "sparkles" and "silver" - it seems they make fantasies come to life). Everything looks amazing. I was also looking for a place to get birthday cakes, since my mom will be coming in to town and we're celebrating it together. I think I might have to get the Lemon-Raspberry Poppyseed cake. It looked like heaven for my tummy and hell for my hips. Maybe I can even ask for a life-size horse and carriage cake...?

I ordered my sons first birthday cake from Dessert Tray as well as his "smash cake". The outside of the cake was decorated nicely however, the inside was a different story. As soon as all my guests bit into their cake, everyone's first comment was how "DRY" the cake was. My son couldnt even "smash" into the cake. I was absoutely dissapointed and so were our guests!! This cake was the poppyseed lemon raspberry. The cake was very dry, hard, and flavorless. What a dissapointment :( Considering the price, this cake should of been nothing but excellent.. Dissapointing.

I think this just might be my first Yelp review. Emailed a picture of what I wanted; got a great, decorated cake; and at a reasonable price. Yes, you'll pay more for a cake here than from Costco, but this one will be remembered.

I first found them at Chocolate Fest a few years back, and they do have some pretty tasty chocolates and other desserts. I just wish they were closer to my house. They are super nice people and they know what they are doing.

We got a birthday cake for my daughter's first birthday. It came with a complimentary smash cake. We gave them photos of other cakes we liked and the decoration ended up awesome. We got so many compliments on what a cute cake it was and it was SO DELICIOUS. This is my now go to place for birthday cakes. Way better than grocery stores or B.B.

My fiance and I went here for a cake tasting for our wedding cake and I have to say, we were disappointed. Cake was dry and service was lacking. Positive: The saving grace at this place for me is their chocolate cake. You will not find a better chocolate cake. Period. High quality chocolate on top of high quality chocolate. SO GOOD! Not-so-positives: Granted, this was for a cake tasting experience, but it was very impersonal. We went in, told them who we were, and they asked us to wait while they brought out some slices of cake. Okay, cool. Then the baker brought out our selections, told us what they were, and then left us alone. Okay, I appreciate the alone time to discuss. However, she did not come back to check on us and it took us awhile to get their attention at the counter. Not okay. Needless to say, we went elsewhere. Also, I am big on tidiness. Their shop is small and obviously they should focus on their baking, but the sitting area was outdated and looked forgotten. This did not make for a pleasurable experience.

Go for a slice of cake. My kids and I like an occasional cake treat after dinner. I don't prefer to buy big quantities/portions, so a small something is better (no tempting leftovers too). In the bakery front there are a few whole cakes displayed they'll cut you a slice of. A generous size for cheap. Not too many flavors to choose from, but what they have is good.

I forgot to tell my boyfriend "Happy birthday" before he headed out for work, and did not realize this for a good two hours. In a fit of guilt, I drove over here to see what they had in stock. They had a pretty good variety of pre-made cakes (from carrot pecan to raspberry fudge). I ended up getting the lemon poppyseed cake, which was amazing. I expected the cake to be dry/stale (from sitting in the case), but it was perfect. I grabbed a peanut butter frosted brownie and a vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting for good measure. The brownie was a little dry, but the peanut butter frosting made up for it. All in all, I spent around $30 (including a tip, because the person at the counter was really nice). Not bad! I'll be back eventually to try some of their pies (they have a coconut cream pie on their menu that sounds delicious).

Highly recommend for wedding cakes! My fiance and I were so impressed at our tasting appointment when they had our flavor preferences all laid out and they were DELICIOUS!!! We recommend the banana cake and the carrot cake! We gave them a vague idea of the style that we wanted and they were helpful with bringing that vision to life. The cake turned out PERFECTLY (!!!) and we were flooded with compliments from our wedding guests! Bonus: GREAT prices! Thank you Dessert Tray!

I started conversing with this bakery about 6 weeks prior to my post wedding luau. I got married in Hawaii a few months back and was celebrating with family in Portland and wanted a hawaiian themed cake. I contacted multiple places about my top tier vegan request and the rest "regular", also I was specific about wanting a particular design. The Dessert Tray didn't hesitate and emailed me right away seeming very enthused and happy to accommodate my request. I appreciated how easy they made it seem even though I'm sure it was not. I honestly would have paid a high dollar to get the cake of my dreams and I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable it was AND that they delivered it for free! To top it all off, not only did it look good but it tasted Incredible. Everyone complicated the flavor and how moist it was, I was sure to tell everyone who the bakery was. Thank you The Dessert Tray for making something so special for our event!

Ok seriously..where have you been all my life? This place has been open 10 years and I haven't sniffed it out yet? I can't believe I didn't know about this dreamboat palace. I'm a cupcake feign. I just have to eat cupcakes. I, for the first time in my life tried a Key Lime cupcake. Oh my! Wonderful! The frosting was so good and creamy and the cake was so dense and delicious... I wanted to marry it. I also had to have the mocha cupcake. It was equally as superb! I'm so in love. Too bad this dreamland is a million miles from my house. I WILL be back for sure when I'm in the area.

We were celebrating my mother's birthday and it was a big one (60 shhhhh) so we really wanted to make a great day out of it and I knew one thing she would love was a great german chocolate cake. I found The Dessert Tray on yelp, thank you, and decided to order the German-style. It was DELICIOUS! Everything about this cake was great, the cake itself was moist and yummy and the amount of frosting was perfect. It was almost like they made a huge cake and cut out the middle to give to us. My mom loved the cake so much after her first bit she wrapped up what was left and warned us all against eating any more of her cake. We still talk about the cake every once in a while. We will be back for sure!

The cost is not that reasonably priced and the cakes are not that consistent. I've bought some not so good cakes (too dry on some parts and one occassion it tastes stale). If consistency with their good products are there then I'd say it's worth the price. If you have a special occassion and your guests will appreciate chocolates and things that are sweet, then it's good to indulge them to dessert tray. they are good and worth going back to, but it's ahit and miss on my case.

I ordered two cakes from Dessert Tray for my wedding: a three tiered cake that served 60 in two flavors (gingerbread and banana) for the reception (cost $240), and a three tiered cheesecake that served 50 in two flavors (marionberry and caramel apple) for an after party at a different location (cost $225). I can't say enough about Robin's great service and the quality of the cakes. Both cakes were made exactly as requested and delivered correctly. Planning the cakes was great. My fiance was attached to the idea of a caramel apple cheesecake, which I am pretty sure he made up as no one in town makes it. I looked everywhere. When we went for our tasting for the regular cake, not only did Robin prepare the banana cake just for the tasting (it's special order), when we asked her about the possibility of a wedding size caramel apple cheesecake she said she would give it a try. She created the recipe just for us! And let me tell you, it was INCREDIBLE. In fact, when I went to pick up our samples, I saw a caramel apple cheesecake for sale in the bakery case :) We did a total of three tastings for the two cakes, and the second two they allowed us to just pick up the samples and take them home. Generous portions, and it was so nice to be able to eat them for dessert for two nights! So great! And all three tastings were free. Delivery was also free, and the price included fondant decorations. Everything we purchased went over great, customer service was awesome (especially Robin), and I will definitely buy more cakes there!

(This review is two years late. My apologies to The Dessert Tray.) Getting married? Go to The Dessert Tray. Do not look any further, go to The Dessert Tray. All I wanted for my wedding was a tasty cake but what I ended up with was a fabulously tasty cake and a "wow" my guests beauty. They were all sooo impressed! I went in for a tasting and skipped my other tastings that day. No need. Only problem was, which flavor? Took the pieced of cake to my sister who said, "why not both!" Then, I had no idea what sort of a look I wanted, only that I didn't want fondant. The woman at the bakery told me to find a picture so I did and the product at the wedding would have been exactly the same if not for my own, personal tweaks. What an amazing cake. They showed up exactly on time for set up, no fuss, they did it and they were gone before I could tell them how wonderful it was. So here it is: thank you, thank you, thank you for the great cake!

I love their Italian almond cake! Even my non-dessert eating sisters are big fans of it. They do other cakes well, too. Last year I ordered a "cake wreck" for my daughter's birthday and they did a great job recreating carrot jockeys (they used brown piping for the mohawks on little plastic babies--awesome!) Their stuff is available in many upscale grocers, as well as their tiny storefront in Beaverton.

3 words: Chocolate Rum Mousse. OMG. If there is ever the perfect Marci dessert, it would be the Chocolate Rum Mousse from The Dessert Tray. Dark, crunchy Oreo-ish cookie crust, a luscious serious chocolate mousse that is velvet smooth and laced with...well, rum, of course... a dollop of whipped cream and a cornet of chocolate candy. Go in there Saturday morning and ask the friendly staff for a 4 inch Chocolate Rum Mousse... You won't see them in the display case, but someone will go in back and fetch one for you. I've found I can cut it in half (it's round), eat one side and freeze the other for another day. The Dessert Tray has consistently great desserts and staff who are always ready to please. The cost is very reasonable and beats many of the local fancy dessert prices around town. There are a few tables for folks who want to eat something on the spot and watch Beaverton go by or they'll box up whatever naughtiness you desire to take home for later. They have a very good selection/variety of treats in their display case and other goodies one can order (or ask for special, like my mousse)... Just check out their menu online or in their store.

8 years ago we got our cake at the Dessert Tray and we got so many complements. It was tasty, delicious and moist. We had a lemon poppyseed cake with both lemon and raspberry filling (b/c we could not agree). They modeled my cake after a caken in "Martha Stewart Weddings." It was beautiful. I have since gotten 2 cakes and can't say enough. It is pricey but good.
