Pho Hoai Menu

First, let me say that I did not have the pho here. Maybe it's a good place for pho but I obviously am not rating this place based on their pho. I had bun bo xao sa te. I don't really recall what I was expecting after reading the description. All I can remember is that I saw "beef" and "hot sauce" and thought mmmm...NOM. Well, my order arrived. I dumped in the fish sauce and took my first bite without any hot sauce added. After that, I realized it was not the NOM I was expecting. It wasn't terrible. It just didn't blow my head off and barely floated my boat. So I added a little...oh ok, a lot of sriracha to make up for the lack of awesome in my bowl. I pushed through because I was hungry. In the end, I think the best part of the dish were the vegetables. If I have a choice the next time the co-workers want to go out to lunch...I'm voting for something other than Pho Hoai. For what I paid, it just wasn't worth it. A hui hou!

When it comes to authentic Asian food here, I always have to start with a disclaimer: Sure, I've had better elsewhere, but for the area, it's good enough. The food here is no exception. I stay away from their pho because it's just a bowl of MSG. Their vermicelli bowls, rice plates and spring rolls are just aiight. What I come here for is their mi quang, a noodle dish that I don't often see on menus. It has a thicker broth that is composed of turmeric and peanuts, among other ingredients. Sure I've had better mi quang at other places (ie: Brodards in Garden Grove, CA), but when I'm feenin, the mi quang here hits the spot.

Ok...so if you like things on the sweeter side, I would say go here because the food definitely got an extra kick of sugar. The food is not exceptional. Typical of any Vietnamese restaurant. I must say the Pho was not bad. I wasn't even hungry and I finished the entire large bowl of Pho P7, which includes everything except for meat balls. It was delicious at the time but now the after taste is telling me major MSG!! The price is $5.95 for either a large of small pho of your choice, which is a great deal compared to most other places that charge a bit more. Is it comparable to other pho places I've eaten? Yes. Is it better? Not really. But for me, excellent customer service is a must. I enjoy my meal a lot more if the service is good. And the service I might say was excellent! They offered free green tea, candy with your bill, AND we got a special treat of fresh juicy sweet oranges. The owner is quite interesting and friendly. We were informed that he goes on a medical mission trip to serve the underprivileged every year around Jan and Feb. The profit he makes go toward donations for those people. Yay!

Blah. That sums up my impression of this place. Bland salad rolls. Bland broth. Tasteless noodles. Even the fish sauce condiment on the table tasted watered down. Left lunch wanted to find something else to eat...not from lack of food...but from pure tastebud boredom. Service was friendly and energetic. Unfortunately, food is more important.

The people here are so sweet. They really go out of their way to win your business. The food is good, not great; but they always get it right and served with a smile. If you want a place to eat now and then, this is your place. Of all the restaurants in this mall, this is by far the best.

So my orginal intent was to go eat at Toshi but they were busy so i decided to give pho hoai a try. This place was just average. i like how the broth was acually flavorful. Though it's not the flavor that i want but i will give them points for not going bland. The only thing i really didn't like was the aftertaste. I took the food to go so it didn't seem much and they went skimpy on the herbage. so those are bummers but that could be because i took it togo. overall it's an ok place. definately acceptable but not a thriller.

This place is located in the goodwill shopping center on the corner of 185th and baseline. I went for lunch and had the vietnamese sandwich. I was not real impressed with the roll and the amount of veggies they gave me. The flavor was not as good as some other vietnamese sandwich places. Service was a little slow too. I may go back and give the pho a try.

I love this place. I always get the pho with round steak and it never disappoints. The prices are reasonable and the staff is extremely friendly.

Ok this review is not about the soup - This is about the important Vietnamese dish - Banh mi - or the classic Vietnamese Pork Sandwich. I stopped in while driving by to see if they have it and they do, as an appetizer and not prepared exactly as I had come to expect. After a few questions to a very friendly person (not a stranger, someone that works there, duh), the agreed to substitute grilled pork for the regular filling thus making the sandwich I know and love. The ingredients were good - except for the bread -which was either over toasted or a little on the stale side (I did go in late on a Sunday so I imagine it might have been purchased a few days earlier). The grilled pork was great and the pickled vegetables were perfect. Oh and the sandwich is $2.75. If you do not eat big meals then 1 is enough, if you are starving then get 2. I would have given 3 and a half stars to be honest but they were so accommodating and friendly and the sandwich was good so I will round up. Ok someone that know Pho should go and see if this place is good!

The people that work here just crack me up....I love talking to them because I was adopted from Vietnam but don't remember much of it at all, and I enjoy talking to them about where they've been, all the community service that they do, how they help the people in Vietnam...they're just amazing people. I found this place when I visited my best friend in Beaverton. I like the laid back atmosphere and the great customer service..not to mention I can call them and order and pick it up within 10 minutes. I always get the Pho (vietnamese soup)...the one with everything in it. They have great prices for their food, and I believe they close about 9pm??? I always know that when I visit my best friend I tend to call later but they never mind it. Great customer service.

Wonderful place to catch a Pho dish before or after shopping at FuBonn Grocery Store. Tasty, clean, service a little slow at times but the people are nice. They usually never bring the bill - so you go up to pay at the counter and remember your table number so they give you the correct tab. Food is quite good - reasonably priced and remember to ask for a fork if you can't manage the noodles with chop sticks.

Great restaurant. Great food. We'll definitely be back! Me and my hubby got C4 and C6 .. they were great rice plates, very delicious.

Great coms - light yet filling with generous amounts to tuck in. Try their C1 or C0 from the menu...they are the best amongst the coms. The phos are great too...really flavorful! The owner/staff are really sweet and welcome you like family. Also, in the appetizer section their salad rolls are nice and fresh and one portion of those can make a person's dinner! Quite and homely...I love this place!

  • Carol R.

Absolutely the best Pho around! They put in a subtle spice blend that adds such a wonderful flavor to the broth. This is what I have when ever I am feeling sick and it always makes me feel better! Also, the salad rolls are twice the size of other restaurants and delicious! Not to mention the awesome and very friendly service! The sweet lady that owns this place goes out of her way to make sure everything is way better than just good for you. Try this place, you will be amazed at how good the Pho is!

I was recommended to try this pho restaurant by a girl who works in a nail salon. Pretty decent pho! So far, the best pho restaurant I've tried in the area. Staff is friendly and service was quick. Not quite up to par with Vietnamese pho restaurants in California but it's close. I'd come back again!

Came here for dinner and it was busier than usual. All the tables by the windows were filled. When we arrived, we were quickly seated. I saw two gentlemen waiting for their food and it seemed like they have been there for a while. There were a couple of tables full of people that were either waiting for food or waiting to order. The sight did not quite bode well for me since past experience has taught me that this place is S-L-O-W, like hella slow. I can count on one hand the number of times that I have walked out of a restaurant after being seated. This is was one of those moments. Fifteen minutes into our arrival and the waiter did not come to our table or anyone else's. I get it, this might be a busier night for you than usual, but come on now. Hiding in the kitchen is not going to make us disappear or make the food cook faster. We were here for 15 minutes. All we had were our menus and a glass of water. I have given this place many chances. The experience is always the same no matter how many people are in the restaurant. The service is slow. The language barrier is hit or miss. The food is delicious but it is not enough to keep me coming. When it comes down to it, the service sucked. Big time. If they can work on that, things can improve. Unfortunately, I won't be here for a next time.

Closing staff is awesome. Be prepared to get great service. First time eating at a Vietnamese restaurant and getting served with a smile.

Im a pho newbie (and I don't even think what I ordered is pho) but it tasted good. I got the mi quang, which came out in a giant bowl! The soup tasted great. I wasn't thrilled about the pieces of beef in it (fatty) and it only had 2 pieces of shrimp, but otherwise it was good and hit the spot. My son orders the pot stickers which were good and an Italian soda - yummy.

Conveniently located close to my house, which is awesome since we like to eat Pho once a week. We are seated immediately, and within 5 minutes of taking our order, my Super Bowl has landed right underneath my salivating mouth. Clean, prompt and friendly, this is one of our favorite Pho places in the area. I just wish they would give us a little bit more veggies. Lots of parking in the lot, convenience store and donut shop next door, bathroom available inside.

I ordered a salad roll. It was pretty tasteless. The P7 was great. The beef broth tasted slightly different from what I'm used to, but it was what I was looking for to warmth. The guy at the counter was welcoming and pleasant.

I love this place! It's right down the road and its pretty good. Portions aren't big and the service can be slow but the food is good and the staff is nice. Overall I recommend it. I've had fried rice, papaya salad, pho, and spring rolls both fried and fresh. Everything was great!

  • Hendy A.

Exactly what I'd expect from a hole-in-the-wall pho place... amazing soup, friendly service, and strip-mall/cafeteria ambiance. But I don't get pho for the atmosphere - I get it for the flavor. And this place delivers on the flavor.

Simple place inside a small strip mall. Extensive menu, mostly traditional. Outstanding quality and freshness, and the best peanut sauce I have ever had. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love this place I always get the super bowl but I've had other entrees as well and there all good. this is family owned resturaunt and that's how it feels when your there friendly. I got my wife into it now and I must say I think I'm going again tonight On a side note I don't understand how they can carry those super hot bowls to the table. I think they lose all feeling in there fingers and hands. Anyways great place for pho

The owners arw friendly. The pho and noodle dishes are good and they have an intel discount. The decor is lacking but that's pretty normal.

First time I ordered Chicken Pho. It was delicious. They gave me three different sauces to go with it and I through them all in the soup. Warm, spicy and soothing is how I would describe it. It was enough to feed two people. Also came recommended was their Avocado Smoothie. Never had it and frankly it sounded odd. But I'm one of those, I'll-try-anything-once, for the most part. It took three tries (working past the unknown burst of flavours on my tongue) and then I was hooked. Soooo good! A very friendly and helpful, restaurant.

Not a positive experience here. Walked in for a weekday dinner, zero people in the dining room. Looked for a table, very few were clean (crumbs, etc). I sat myself and my guest and waited 5 mins real time before I got up and rang the bell on the counter. Only after ringing the bell did I see the first other person in the restaurant. Young girl handed us menus. Fast forward to the ordering process - we tried to order but the young girl (waitress) didn't speak basic English. An older woman came out and translated. Soup prep/cooking time took 2-3x the length of other nearby Pho restaurants. When the food came, the soup was good. My order wasn't perfect (language barrier) but I went with it. When we asked for the bill, we tried to explain to the young girl what we wanted. No English. Older woman had to translate and process our check. A really poor experience. Will not likely return here.

Oh wow, the pho is so good! Tender meat, broth with dimension, fresh bean sprouts, lime, jalapeno, and basil to dress. We also had the salad rolls- really fresh and rolled with skill. Nice homemade peanut sauce! The potstickers were so-so. A little skimpy on the filling, and a little over-fried. Unfortunately, the service was meh. The gal just disappeared. As we were the only ones in there for lunch, I'm guessing she was spending her time doing side-work.

I wasn't pleased with my first visit here. The waitress responded with "oh my god" when I asked for more water please... And took five minutes to get me it when there was maybe three other guests there. The meat looked disgusting as well.. Like not even meat from an animal.

I frequent many pho restaurants but this one is the closest to my house so on lazy days such as today it is the best option with minimal traveling. I went to order to-go. It took a bit of time for it to get done but thats probably because I walked in about 1 minute after they opened and ordered quite a few things for my roommates and myself. The staff was very friendly and was able to answer the few questions I had. They recommended a dish that turned out to be the best thing we have eaten in quite a while. While the restaurant looks small and run down....the food is well above average and the price is great for what you get. I will definitely return often.

Service was a little scattered, but they were really friendly. Food was great though. Very flavorful and had big portions! Definitely a whole on the wall family owned place.

I would not recommend eating there. We ordered the super bowl as well as the lemon grass chicken vermicelli. The pho was alright not the best I've had. They added a lot of fatty meats and the meatballs had bone in it which was not pleasant to bite into. The vermicelli lacked EVERYTHING. The chicken tasted old and looked dis colored, they didn't trim the chicken either which contained more fat than meat. The noodles were over cooked and the veggies served with it was what tasted like pickled carrots and old lettuce. Let's just say that we did not finish our meals and do not plan on eating there in the future.

Pho Hoai is a pleasant strip mall restaurant on Aloha's SW 185th Avenue. The interior is comfortable, clean, and unpretentious. The staff is hospitable, friendly, and quick. One nice touch is that Pho Hoai has placed an assortment of condiments on each table. Especially with Pho it is fun to play around with the seasonings and see what kind of masterpiece you can create. The menu here is quite large. Pho Hoai offers small portions of Pho for around $6.25. The large bowls go for around $8-$9. On our visit we opt for the Pho with beef steak and beef brisket. Absolutely delicious. The broth was so good that my dinner companion picked up the soup bowl and drank it. We ordered two Thai Iced Teas, two salad rolls, and two large bowls of beef Pho. Our bill came to only $25.75. Nice! Such an inexpensive dinner and we were stuffed to the gills. One criticism. As one reviewer noted Pho Hoai does not drop your bill off at your table. You need to go to the cash register to pay. Pho Hoai needs to make that clear to their customers. If you lived through the 1960's then you know that this country was tearing itself up over Vietnam. Pho Hoai is a great place to go to reconcile, mellow out, and enjoy a cuisine from a culture that has so much to offer.

Pho Hoai is not a bad joint for the area. There aren't a ton of Pho locations off 185th so I decided to stop here last night trying to relieve my cold. A+ for their salad rolls. They are HUGE and delicious! Everything about them tasted fresh and I could only eat about half. B for the Pho. It was alright, but not fantastic. Made the mistake of ordering a large, which of course I could not finish. The prices are a bit high compared to some other Pho restaurants. $7.75 for a large bowl of round steak Pho. The round steak was good and not too chewey. Broth was alright after I put in all my typical sauces and thai basil. D For the service. Upon entry we were seated and given some water. Then we were ignored for about 15 minutes until we noted we would like to place our order. Salad roll appetizer came out with the rest of our food. Took another 20 min. to get the food. The place was near empty. Word to the wise - to my knowledge they don't drop off a check at your table. We waited for about 15 minutes after we were finished eating expecting someone to take our plates or drop off a check. As this never happened we went to the front and was able to pay from there. The whole eating excursion took nearly an hour and a half. Not sure if I would be quick to go back. Food was alright but certainly not a place you'd want to go if you were in a hurry.

I have seen this restaurant multiple times since I live a few block away from it. I decided to go today in my lunch break. I ordered a beef and brisket pho. It was delicious! The only complaint I have is the menu; it has no pictures so it is hard to tell what you are ordering. The rest was pretty good! Will come back! Pricing was also pretty fair.

I had yet another Pho craving today on the way to work, and just happened to be passing by the strip mall with all those restaurants I've been meaning to check out. I walked in, and it was very simply decorated, clean, no strange smells. I was greeted with a menu and a smile. I ordered my usual Pho Ga, and it came out very quickly, good and hot. I enjoyed it, and thought the price was reasonable. I'll be back!

I was born and raised in Vietnam. I've been in Portland for 7 years and I've tried many Vietnamese restaurant. My favorite Vietnamese dish is the barbecue pork and shredded port with rice and fish sauce (we call it com tam). This place makes the best shredded pork, it tastes like the one my nanny used to make for me. The first time I tried it I felt like crying because it is so hard to eat something that tastes like home-made to me. So after that I come back very often especially after I moved to Aloha area. I come to eat that dish when I am up, down, sad, happy, healthy or sick. You know what makes the dish even better? The broth that comes with it, we Vietnamese love soup or just clear broth with any meal. They make the best broth ever, it's clear, smells good, not too sweet or salty. I always ask for extra. The people that run this place are sweet too, I love them. About Pho, I don't care much because to me, nothing tastes like the one in Vietnam because the noodles are freshly made everyday, that makes a big difference. I recommend you try their bbq pork and shredded pork plate with the broth. You will be happy after having it! (FYI this dish is supposed to be served with broken rice but they serve with regular jasmine rice, it is ok with me!)

So-so Vietnamese food saddled with odd service and a dirty restaurant are not the keys to winning my heart. I know from personal experience that dirty tables, dirty windows, dirty bathrooms and dirty floors = even dirtier kitchen. There were several dirty tables with glasses and plates but no one made an attempt to clean them during my 15 minutes there. I didn't inspect the bathrooms or the kitchen here but the rest were observed as well. Bad sign for Pho Hoai. It is at this point I decided to make a small to-go order rather than eat at the less than spotless table I was seated at. The food is not worth mentioning, neither good nor horrible. Though this is the closest VT food to my house, I will be driving the extra couple miles for my noodle fix. See CT Bistro.

Our search for the best vegan pho in West Portland & the West suburbs has led us here. Is it the best vegan pho I've ever had? No, but I'd probably give it second or third place. Honestly, most of the vegan pho I've had around here is pretty bland--understandably, since traditional pho is meat-based, and replicating that rich savory flavor without any animal product can be tricky. That said, Pho Hoai is anything but bland, and honestly some of the most unusual-tasting pho I have had. The broth has something of a sweet element to it that I found surprising but ultimately fantastic. The large serving is so big that my partner and I order extra noodles and then split it--and we can both eat pretty large portions. The fact that you can share makes this place extra cost-efficient, which is important for us right now. Pho Hoai, despite its mixed reviews, is our favorite pho place in town so far. Their Thai Iced Tea is also not to be missed.

I visit this area only a few months of the year, but always make sure I eat here. I think their Pho is really, really good. Today I tried something new for me: Turmeric rice noodle soup with shrimp, scallops, pork and fish ball slices. It was absolutely delicious. The broth was perfect. Yes, you need to be told that you have to go to the counter to pay your bill, and there should be a sign about that. But the place has always been clean, the staff is friendly, the service quick. I think it's super.

LEMONGRASSSSSS!!! Came here on a Sunday "morning" (12:30pm), since Toshi Sushi was closed next door. I love that they dont skimp on this nor water down the flavors of their dishes. Shared a Mi Quang with my guide here and ordered the Bo Nuong Hue. The mi quang had wide egg noodles and had a rich (tomato-y?) soupy base, and actually was very satisfying on a cold day, ESPECIALLY if you drown it in the crack/ginger-chili sauce on the table. There was also shrimp, along with sliced beef, rice crackers, and peanuts. This isn't a really spicy dish, fyi. I haven't had this dish in years, and it definitely left me wanting more. If you're bored of Pho, Bun or rice plates, try this one out! The Bo Nuong Hue appears on its surface to be the standard southern vietnamese bun dish, but the main variation is in the beef seasoning and the use of lemongrass, (Its a very small difference, but the dish does taste different from what you would see elsewhere) Overall the beef slices were a bit dry (I think these were just the tai steak slices seasoned and then seared/grilled). I'm glad i ordered the dish because I rarely get a taste of sufficient lemongrass in the Portland area, but the rest didn't blow me away. Got a plate of Goi Cuon which were quite larger than the usual spots' versions, but the shrimp in these I will definitely be back for the mi quang, and its actually very nice that they don't thin themselves out on their menu by also making thai food. I can say that this place has one of the more eclectic menus of Pho places in the Hillsboro/Beaverton area. This is definitely a restaurant that doesn't follow the typical lines of the other Pho/viet joints in the area.

Went in for a quick meal. No one was here, really. Thought that meant I'd be in and out. Instead found myself waiting for the check with no one in sight, but heard them in the back. Ordered boba (bubble) tea and did not get it until the end of my meal. Ordered "coconut shrimp," but got store-bought Van de Kamp breaded shrimp instead, which was disheartening. Also tasted like it was cooked in old oil. I couldn't eat it. The pho ga was yummy. I wish the chicken was a little smaller. The broth was tasty and I wish they offered more cilantro on the plate with garnishes as well. I got my boba tea right before leaving, so she gave me a discount. They also offer 10% off for students and employees of certain businesses. I understand there are 2 people to take orders, cook, clean and ring you up. They were very nice people, but I expected a little more.

I am no pho expert so take my recommendation lightly but for 5.95 a bowl it's hard to beat on a cold winter's day! This family run restaurant has excellent service and is very friendly. The P2 - brisket and flank steak, is my fav especially with a squeeze of lime, dash of Sriracha and some Thai basil. However the broth is a little on the sweet side. I would recommend adding some of the fresh jalapenos as well but watch out ... they may still have their seeds.

It was raining and My bf was too hungry to wait till we get home. When he saw the sign, he turn the car right away. As we stepped in the Restaurant, no customers at all. The lady seated us and brought menu and water...no hot tea?? Anyway, we ordered salad roll that was pretty good and P1 and P7 Tik tok tik tok..they took forever for our foods, no one was upfront the Restaurant, but in the kitchen.! Unclean table which customer just left still did not be taken care Gross..Finally, even we want to pay our bill,we have to ring them up from the back side oh man..if someone wants to steal something, do you think they will realize? NO!

It's my first time coming here and although I frequently enjoy a good bowl of Pho. I went with a rice dish this time. I had the Chicken with Yellow curry. It was a simple yet exquisite dish. To drink I had Lee-Chee juice, it was delicious and sweet. The waitress was nice. It wasn't too busy so I was seated right away. I will definitely be coming back.

3.5 rounded to 4 :) Just like the reviewer below me...I planned on Toshi's and ended up in PhoHoai coz it was a Sunday afternoon... I ordered a Small steak and Brisket....later realized that I should have gone for the large Broth- 4/5 flavorful and reasonably hot Meat- 2/5 maybe I ordered a small but I was expecting a lil more than the 5-6 pieces in there Noodles- 4/5 I mean they are noodles cmon Service- 4.5/5- quick and friendly Price- 3.5/5 - a tad expensive than the other pho places i have been to All in all not a bad experience but not superlative either

Wow. Wish I had checked the reviews first. Got lemongrass beef. Bad combination of fatty and tough. It was probably the absolute cheapest beef I've had in a long time. I _do not_ recommend going here.

GROSS!!!! This is beyond gross. I think out of everything I've tried in the Portland area, this is the WORST (which says a lot cuz everything else sucks too) They put soooo much MSG that it gives it a sweet taste. My mom cooks. She makes bombass Pho. And when we all came here to eat pho, she remarked how much MSG was in the food. It was so gross I took 1 sip from the soup and that was IT. DONE. Never going to have Pho Hoai again!! I think Pho Nam in Hillsboro is better. Not good but better. But I guess anything is better then sipping a bowl of MSG.

I wish we could do half stars because then I'd go with 3.5, but since I'm limited and can't think anything special to bump it up a notch, 3 stars it is. I had the Pho, and he had something else including beef satay and vermicelli (or something along those lines - don't recall the name or exact description). Both were definitely good, but neither were super special. Same for the service. I think I could be spoiled because the Pho Nam place that we love (yes, I Yelped it) just has super cheap drinks (and a wide variety) and is more generous with the ingredients, while Pho Hoai includes meat in a dish that has it but not to such a degree that it's worth comment. Nothing really at all bad about this place, but also wasn't quite wonderful.
