The thing about most chain restaurants (based on my experience) is that the food is pretty consistent irrespective of which location you eat at - if the cooks have had reasonable training. The key differentiators are around service which can vary between locations. The food at this location was good, but what I liked most was the service. The waiter who served us was friendly, jovial, and made it a point to check on us frequently (though not too frequently). I also think that the breadsticks weren't as good and fresh as those that are served in their Huntington Beach location which was a tad disappointing. The main course was good and tasted just like it did in every other Olive Garden location we've visited.

when you're here, you're not italian or would settle for something that's mediocre. I love the salad. that's about it.

My friend and I decided to do Sunday lunch here. We were seated quickly, our server came quickly and came back with our drinks, salad and breadsticks. My friend ordered the seafood Alfredo and I ordered soup. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food. Seriously, unless you're making the noodles from scratch, it shouldn't take that long. When they brought or food, they got my soup wrong (but they brought my second favorite soup). The server was really nice about it, though. Overall, despite the hiccups and the wait, I love the sou, salad and breadsticks. The chicken gnocchi soup is amazing.

2/15, Update. It has been awhile since my last visit and my last review. Normally I despise Olive Garden but my Sister In Law had a birthday and chose OG for her Birthday dinner. I dreaded it all day and finally we arrived at 5:00, not too busy, that's good. We ordered a Calamari Appetizers and I must say it was quite good, not rubbery and quite tasty, I was impressed. I chose the Garlic Rosemary Chicken from the "Light Italian Menu" and was quite pleased, Two small breasts, some tasty mashed potatoes and few Spinach Leaves and a nice sauce. It was way better than I anticipated and I ended up taking half home. I passed on their super salty soup this time and chose the salad, sadly it is still a pile of lettuce with no nutritional value, rings of onions, a few olives and a couple tomato slices. I am not a fan of the salad. Some of the pieces were large and hard to get into my mouth. I can tell you it is not out of the bag which for me is a good thing because I can tell if it is bagged salad from a mile away. That chemical smell sickens me. I noticed they have a roaming Manager who keeps her eye on things and makes sure everyone is happy and being taken care of There was also a Chef/Manager who came to our table and made sure we enjoyed our meal and chatted a bit. I was quite impressed. I still feel they are a bit overpriced for the portion size (not worth 16 bucks on any planet), but if people are willing to pay it, then they will continue to charge it. It appears OG is trying to up their game and that is a good thing in my book. The service was spot on, our water glasses never ran dry and it seems like they are headed in the right direction. I am not a huge fan of pasta and I am glad to see they have so many other options on their menu these days.

My day passed quickly, and my wife and I were commuting home at rush hour, which is an exercise in frustration on the 217. We'd not eaten since breakfast so we opted to dine nearby and, by the time we would finish dinner, the worst of the traffic jam would be over. I've enjoyed other Olive Garden restaurants and was pleased to see this one. The menu has changed since I last saw it, but I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana with minestrone soup and a lemonade (I was driving). My wife chose the Chicken Marsala with salad and a glass of Chardonnay. The dinner was a delight! My wife and I enjoyed every morsel, and what was intended as a pause in our commute proved a rewarding and relaxed dining experience. I look forward to a return visit, because the the atmosphere was pleasant and the lasagne looked very tempting!

I was shocked. I honestly had very low expectations for a chain restaurant from experiences at other chains, but Olive Garden was much better than I expected. we went in for a 10 year old's birthday party so we couldn't go to anyplace. We didn't want to bother a whole restaurant with our kids. Our server (Peter) was awesome! We started with some salads and they were super causal about bringing 2 big bowls to our table since one person needed gluten and dairy free. The salad was nice the fact that dressing was on the side always was just a nice touch. never know how much each person prefers. I tried the "tour of Italy" and it was a sampler of 3 small portions of 3 items. They were each pretty decent. On the whole, it was ok/decent food. I must say that for the price that was paid, I was shocked. That amount of money could have bought much better food, but then we can't always choose the restaurant.

The wait staff are always great but the bread sticks are a little doughy. Everything else was wonderful. We left a great tip to the nice lady.

First of all, I am really sorry about giving you guys 4 stars and I know you guys deserved more than this. The foof was great, fabulous and juicy! I ordered the spaghetti with meat balls and it did not disappoint me, the meatballs were made from soft beef. Moreover, the only thing I would like to recommend you guys is putting more sauce on spaghetti please. My service was okay, he looked really tired and I totally understand for him, but he did not even smile at us :( that's all I want when I eat out. Next time when I come back, I might update my review and 5 stars are waiting for you guys :)

Love their breadsticks. You can always tell how good the customer service is when they are busy. And our Waitress on easter was phenomenal! Super happy, and the chicken dish i had was wonderful!

Great service! I loved our waiter. He was nice and made sure we were enjoying our foods. Wait time wasn't that long either. Peter, you're such a great waiter!

I have never been so underwhelmed by food in my life. I've read over a lot of these reviews. The majority of the one or two star reviewers seem to be from people who are just unable to realize that their server is a human being who makes mistakes and must abide by (gasp) rules. Not this review, our server was fine. She was friendly, prompt and patient. She seemed slightly aloof towards the end of our meal, and kind of disappeared... but not a big deal to us. Even if she sucked, it isn't the end of the world. We can't all be perfect and she isn't my personal whipping girl (which I gather a vast majority of OG patrons seem to be under the impression their server is). Anyways... the food was so underwhelming I was quite literally in shock. I've had better food experiences in the canned pasta aisle at Winco. My stuffed chicken marsala turned out to be two pieces of chicken approximately the size of two card decks and a scoop of mashed potatoes. All of which was drowned in sauce. This dish cost $19. Completely overpriced for what I got. It didn't particularly taste bad, but it didn't taste good either. It was just "meh". Like whoever removed it from it's package (lets not kid ourselves here) decided to microwave it, instead of trying to fool me by heating it on the range or flat top. My salad consisted of a mixture of wilted, orange iceberg lettuce and crisp fresh iceberg lettuce. The salad dressing was warm ... which made me wonder if it had just been opened OR perhaps sitting out unrefridgerated for a scary period of time. Our bill was outrageous. Outrageous. I do not have an issue spending money when I feel like I got a great meal but... this price was not justified. My husband and I ordered mains, three drinks (one for me, two for him) and nothing else. We could have easily gone to another one of our favorite restaurants and ordered more food, more booze, paid LESS and been happier with the food quality. Overall, unless something changes drastically with this franchise I don't think we will be returning at all. This was a pretty sad experience and I'm shocked this place continues to stay open in this economy.

I've eaten there on and off for years and, of late, they have become on and off. They used to be pretty good but they have gotten to be more money than they're worth. When I started they would have gotten a 4 star rating. Now they are a two. The service is poor to adequate The food is good but stay away from the calamari. The prices are ahead of the curve for what they serve. They are approaching McDonalds status. A place to eat but nowhere you'd tell people that you've eaten. You're better off trying an unknown new place advertising rocky mountain oysters and (fill in the blank) wine.

Still not understanding the hype. There's plenty of Italian American restaurants that have a much more flavorful menu and costs less. I don't think the "unlimited" salad and breadsticks are worth the overall price and quality you're paying for. I do admit their breadsticks are pretty yummy as they were fresh out the oven, but overall it's just not worth it. By the way the dipping sauce they charge you ($3.79) but when they ask you what kind of sauce it's asked in a manner that it's already supplied with the breadsticks. Error on my part for not double checking, but like I said it was all about the approach. Oh well. (ed. Pictures not taken due to it was just a meh kinda moment.)

"Well.. at least the ice is melting in my glass and I have something to drink again." Probably not something you would want a patron to say when dining in your restaurant. My boyfriend and I received a gift card to Olive Garden for Christmas and decided to put it to use last Saturday. We arrived around 3:30pm and the place did not seem that busy but there were a couple people waiting for tables in the lobby. We saw that there was a table in the bar available and decided to take advantage of the self seating option and just sit there. Our drinks came pretty quickly at first and then.. they didn't. Once we got our bread sticks and salad it was a solid 30 minutes before someone came back our way. We didn't even see someone walk by close enough to call over. It was also a little unusual to wait that long for our food to come after our salad and bread sticks, especially when it wasn't that busy. Even after the food came, no one checked on us for about another 30 minutes until we asked for a refill and our check. I get that we were in the bar but it would have been nice to receive a little attention, even if it was just to swing by and refill our waters. Luckily the ice in our glasses DID melt and we did have a little to drink from that. The food was as expected. Good but nothing spectacular. We typically go for the salad and bread sticks as that is what sets Olive Garden apart from it's competitors. No complaints in that department.

Me and the wife love eating at Olive garden, but the problem I have with it is that they are raising the prices of their food and trying to charge us for 2 salads when we share one bowl. We have been eating the chicken and shrimp carbanara for about 3 years now and when we first started eating it, it cost about $16. It has gradually increased since then to $21! not just that, but sometimes they will try to charge us for 2 salads since we are sharing the meal. Which i can understand if we got multiple bowls of salad, but we only share ONE bowl of salad and when we get the receipt we see they try charging us an extra 3 bucks for it. when i confront them about it, they said its because the unlimited salad was for 1 person, not 2. Which i then tell them we shared ONE bowl, not 2 or more, so why are we getting charged as if we ate several?

Tried several of their dishes: Fetuccini Alfredo (with chicken): Prettygood, the chicken strips were good, but felt like it did not go well with alfredo sauce. Shrimp Alfredo: Liked this better, the shrimp was really well grilled andwent much better than chicken. Basically the same dish as above. Grilled Chicken with Garlic Asiago Alfredo: Chicken was really good, but the pasta was flat/big chunks: not so great. Chocolate Mousse (the small portion): Very good. Salad: awesome. Chicken soup: very good. The service is always good.

It's a typical OG. Our server was good. Friendly and on top of things. The other server in our section was a miserable ass. I was tempted to talk to his manager. But what was the point. The food is mediocre at best. The only reason I was here was because my kids ask to come on their birthdays. Otherwise I would avoid this hole. The bread was over cooked, the salad wasn't even cut, HUGE leafs of iceberg just hangin out. I didn't expect good food nor do I ever when being forced to come. Sorry darden, the prices are high for what it is, the quality is low. And service tends to be a mixed bag at best. Our server rocked and I was happy which speaks volumes considering I didn't want to be there. Don't worry, we tipped her well.

Stopped by here just because I was killing time in the area. Fast, friendly service. Fresh tasting beer on tap. No wait. Other than that, regular ol' Olive Garden. A little pricey food/drink (nearly $8 for bottom shelf whiskey). But was as expected.

I have dined at Olive Garden across the country and this is hands down the worst franchise I have been to. I would have given negative stars if I had an option. There was a very strong bad smell as soon as we entered the dining area. The food was terrible and we had to call the waiter and return the food. Manager did not show up or no questions asked why the food was bad. I would never visit this franchise at Beaverton.

I LOVE Olive Garden. This is the second time that we visited this Olive Garden location when visiting Portland. The service has always been great and it's such a great deal to eat here since their entrees come with unlimited salad and breadsticks!! We've never had a problem getting a table here either. They now offer complimentary wine tastings as well so that you can try out a couple wines before deciding on the one you'd like to order. I thought that this was a great way to start off our meal! I ordered the Roscato, which is a sweet red wine (almost like a Moscato). I always order the same when I come to Olive Garden - Appetizer: Stuffed Mushrooms; Entrée: Portobello Ravioli. I would definitely recommend this location if you're in the area!

I remember growing up and we would come here for special occasions. Back when people would dress up to come here. Now days, I see people in pajamas, sweats less then casual these days. (Just an observation) This is probably the only location I ever go too. Just the other day we stopped by for their lunch special, $6.99 for unlimited soup and salad and they had entrees you could add for an additional $3.99 Awesome prices. Our waiter was remarkable, sadly I've forgotten his name but he did an awesome job taking care of us as well as a huge table he had on his hands. I'm not a favorite of soup but their shrimp Alfredo is awesome and my bf loves their Tour of Italy. Update 8/3/2014 Not much to update besides right nowbthey have a special 3 course meal for as little as $11.99. I got the broccoli and grilled chicken alfredo. OMG it blew my mind. It was excellent!!

I am currently sitting in this very olive garden and had to take time to write this review now while I wait for food. First if you have small children do not come here. It is a rare treat when I get to take my 3 year old son to eat, and being treated like an inconvenience by the hostess is definitely not my idea of a good time. She insisted on seating my son next to the window where there are blind strings hanging down unsecured. Which to any parent is an obvious safety hazard. I told the hostess this but she insisted that high chairs have to be seated to the inside, and rudely moved us when I insisted on how dangerous this is. I also asked that my sons food be cooled before being sent to the table, which the waiter took to mean, bring out his super hot plates before any. Of our other food so that my son is forced to stare at his food but cannot eat it and the rest of us are stuck waiting for our very slow server. Oh and the food wasn't horrible but with such rude service I won't be back Edit* Lindsey the manager was very nice, sincere and professional handling our complaint and while helpful, I still will probably not return to this location.

This particular location is a pain in the rump to get to. The strip mall parking lot is all sorts of dumb, if you miss a turn you're headed on an adventure until you can safely and legally turn around. After three times, I have say it's a perfectly reasonable Olive Garden. Soups and bread sticks are delicious, the alcoholic drinks I've had were good, and service hasn't been awful. Sometimes the service could be more attentive, but we haven't gotten anything wrong so far. Just sometimes don't get refills. I hate having to drive here, but I find it's worth it. I'm not a chain hater, I usually like chains actually. I find this place to be just what I expect out of them.

What kind of restaurant gives you one set of utensils when you order two entrees to go? I would not of been mad if I was not staying in a hotel and needed my utensils. When I called and talked to the management 5/3/14 10:00pm they acted like it was not that big of a deal. It's not that big of a deal and I'll just take my money elsewhere where, I will at least get what I deserve coming. Corporate America sucks and its going down the drain fast this place is cheap just like McDonalds trying to charge for a condiment.

Olive Garden is so amazing.. First things first. No reservations. So just come and hope that you can get seated quickly! When we went, the restaurant was moderately busy, but the staff made sure we were promptly seated. Our waitress had a couple of tables to attend to, but she always made us feel that she was available. It wasn't too pushy and it didn't seem like if we needed something she would be too far away. The endless salad and breadsticks are just AMAZING! I don't know how I could have eaten my meal after eating all that salad and breadsticks. Oh those tantalizing commercials.. They just make me want to drive (well fly in my case since we don't have Olive Garden in Hawaii) and eat them. The restaurant is well kept, very clean, bathrooms smelled fresh. Food is as always, making me fly to the mainland just to eat Olive Garden. Yay for Olive Garden!

I love olive garden....and this location was one of the better ones...truly great service especially since I was able to get this new burger they have a little bit after they stopped serving it....Any burger with mozzarella cheese is a great burger...prices are on the high side but that's no big surprise... I'll continue to patronize OG since I love their food...

OK. OK. I know Olive Garden is a monster chain owned by a not quite reputable company. And I know, at least in Portland, it is not PC to do good reviews or give props to monster chains. But I really like Olive Garden. My partner and I have visited twice recently. Once for the infamous Never Ending Pasta Bowl and once for soup and salad. Both visits were good. With the pasta bowl the pasta was cooked perfectly and the Sausage Pomodoro sauce was tasty. The Zuppa Toscana soup was the perfect accompaniment. On our second visit, the new Potato and Porcini Mushroom soup was excellent. While the restaurant itself is devoid of any real personality, our wait staff for both visits were friendly and efficient. And we didn't break the bank.

My wife and I went here for dinner on Veterans Day 11/11 and our waiter was Jean. He was outstanding with hiss service and personality. It is great that Olive Garden cares about the countries veterans and active duty personnel and provides a free meal on their day. Well Done on the great service and wonderful meal

Ok so twice now I've been here and twice I've had a really bad waiter. When I say bad I mean bad attitude leaves us for a long time. The first time I went with my roommate and it took FOREVER to get my check and when we paid it again took FOREVER to bring us our change. We ended up leaving the change. The second time was just the other night with my date we got a different waiter and we was just rude and didn't want to wait on us. He have us our check with our dinner. We had to wait for him to refill our drinks multiple times. The restaurant was not even busy at all. I will say this the food was delicious I think next time we'll go to the Red Robin across street.

So, I am sitting in my living room, watching the Olive Garden commercial about the $6.95 soup and salad lunch. I thought, "that sounds good". Now, at night, its a bit more, I know... but, well, l'm ahead of myself. So we order drinks. I order Riesling (St Michelle). The waiter comes out and says they don't have my choice, but they have a Riesling by KJ. Okay, I think...whatever. Then he finally returns (15 minutes later) with another wine, not a Riesling. Three times and you still can't get it right.? So, I give up and order a daiquiri. Then we order breadsticks with alfredo sauce AS AN APPETIZER. We order soup and salad dinner, which we are told is $12.95. You are kidding me, $12.95 for soup and ICEBERG lettuce. Please....you're kidding me right? The soup comes, the salad comes, no breadsticks. Finally, they come, no sauce. Sigh. He says "I'm getting that next." Olive Garden food is not that good for this price and this low level of service.

I have loved olive garden for its breadsticks soups and pretty much everything and Beaverton Olive garden was the first time and I can say it was no different from the prev. olive gardens and I completely loved the experience. I traveled through the public transport from the downtown and the bus dropped me right in front of the olive garden so no complaints there :) It was really convenient to reach my fav restaurant. Experience was perfect.

This Beaverton Olive Garden is one busy and hopping place. Whether you go for lunch or dinner you're likely to encounter a full parking lot and a wait at the host station. There is a reason for this. Olive Garden with its bright interior and Tuscan style decorations is a corporation that has successfully tapped into America's love affair with Italian cuisine. For starters Olive Garden has come up with the most wonderful concept of bottomless salad and bread sticks. Many diners like me would probably be content with just sipping wine, savoring salad, and devouring hot bread sticks. However, it would be pretty hard for a restaurant to make money doing this. Our servers did a great job of replenishing our salad and bread sticks. Speaking of service, this is where we ran into some bumps. There were so many different servers bringing us drinks, salad, food, and cocktails. It was like watching a play where the cast of characters is so large that you can't follow the story. At Olive Garden it was hard to tell who was doing what with whom. The servers screwed up our split tab. The reason? They said it was because we arrived at a shift change (7 PM). To be fair Olive Garden did take care of the problem nicely. On to the entrees! My group sampled the cheese ravioli and the braised beef with tortellini. After reading some of the Yelp reviews I expected the worst. However, Olive Garden did indeed serve us some tasty dishes. Not great but quite pleasant. My group enjoyed our dinners but something seemed to be missing. An Italian American friend of mine once said: "Olive Garden is not true Italian food. Olive Garden is Italian fast food." By golly my New York Italian buddy hit the nail on the head! What was lacking was the love and attention to detail that makes Italian cuisine so enjoyable. However, you have to hand it to Olive Garden. No doubt at Olive Gardens all over the country the parking lots are full and the customers are lining up waiting to be seated. Olive Garden has a formula for Italian food service that works very very well.

So I went to this Olive Garden for the first time (not my first Olive Garden) and loved the total experience. It was not as crowded as normal,l but there was stile a bit of a wait 30min is what they told us. So we went to sit at the bar where we got our drinks. About 15mins later our buzzer goes off for us to be seated. We wanted the pasta bowl so we knew what to get right away. They brought us salad and bread sticks (which every body loves most about Olive Garden) and just as we finished our salads our food was there. It couldn't have been better timed we both enjoyed our meals and walked away very pleased. While we were wait for my next refill on pasta we watch in amazement the man busting the table whom we later learned his name as Noe. This guy was like the busting king we both almost stood to applaud his talent he cleared a whole table of ten on one tray (which when all piled up came to be a quarter of his size). He not only picked this tray up but also balanced it with one hand so he could pick the tray holder up it was quite entertaining. Our waitress also delightful as well as very prompt. At first she seemed a little on auto but warmed up to us in the end. I also like the design of this particular restaurant. I look forward to returning with some friends or on a date.

Olive Garden always has great food. The meals usually include salad (served in one big salad bowl for the table) and bread sticks. Their desserts, if you decide to try one, are rich and delicious. The atmosphere is good too - the staff dress in formal/semi-formal attire and are courteous. Olive Garden is one of those restaurants that can be busy sometimes. I'd recommend calling ahead to ask how long the wait is and make reservations if needed.

    (5)
  • Chuck S.

I have never been unsatisfied with my meals or service here. The wait on a Saturday evening is a bit of a bummer, not their fault, nonetheless having to wait out front with the vibrating beeper alert deal goes hand-in-hand with all but one visit here.

  • Jodi H.

I am a fan because I love their salad and breadsticks! They come with every meal. The food at OG is usually very consistent, thus the chain restaurant. But sometimes that's what you want, consistency. At times in the past service has been spotty at this location - but last night it was very good. I also had the shrimp primavera which was actually very good - the shrimp were firm and well cooked, I took the leftovers to work for lunch, so that says alot. This is NOT a place for "foodies" nor a place to try something new, just get pasta, lasagna or the such and you'll be fine! Also, don't forget the breadsticks and salad! Its a good value too.

  • ToniAnn M.

I'm sorry Grandma Nellie... I do like the OG! Here's the thing, yes, it's the McDonald's of Italian food, no it's not too close to authentic other than the names of the dishes.... but it's decent when you're jones-in for some Alfredo. For the most part, I don't hit a lot of chain restaurants, but this is one of the ones I just have to do once every few months. Like most chains, the dishes are fairly consistent, you just have to hope for decent service. We have been to this location twice in the last 5-6 months & both times service has been pretty well.

Oh my goodness! We had the nicest server here (Jaaron)! One of the nicest I have had in a long while! So friendly, not bothersome, and went out of his way to make my birthday girl feel special! One true way to a mom's heart...treat her kids well! Awesome! Now, don't get your hopes up because this guy is one in a million. Not all the servers at Olive Garden are this great. I have had many things on the menu, to include the wine, pasta, and a couple of deserts. I have loved most everything. One of the tastiest dishes is the Lasagna Rollata al Forno. Totally high on the calorie count, but so worth it! The salad is always enjoyable, as are the complimentary bread sticks. The prices here are a bit steep. Hence why we almost never go to Olive Garden. But once in a while it's nice to head out there and splurge. The nice waiter made the experience almost seem worth the price. Hence the 4 stars. WIth average service, based on the food, cost and atmosphere I would normally rate O.G. with a 3. (Cost/food ratio ranks very high in my critiques.) Maybe I am just getting old(er), but is it just me or does it seem like prices at all these restaurants is just getting astronomical!? Maybe I am just cheap :-)

  • Amanda Z.

I have to bump it up to three stars because I went here twice last month. BUT I must admit that I only had the salad, soup, and bread sticks. Really, you can't screw that up. So maybe the next time you don't feel like using a can opener, buying a bag of Fresh Express salad, and getting all teary-eyed while slicing a red onion, go eat at Olive Garden.

Great spot to fill up the boys after practice. No frills but it's the OG. Might not have reviewed were it not for Christian, our server - overkill for the OG. He treated it and us like it was his restaurant. No easy task with our crew.

I really like Olive Garden. I will say that I'm not Italian and I grew up in a house without many spices, so my gage of "real, good" Italian food is not where it should be. Yet, with that said, I really like Olive Garden. Disclaimer: If you don't like left-overs than share your meal. You will have left-overs. The OG, as it's commonly called around my home, starts you off with warm yummy bread sticks. They're never-ending so eat away. They are amazing when dipped in alfredo sauce so order a side of that and start your dinner off right. They also serve my favorite drink ever-Bellinis. My favorite flavor is peach but they have a few others and they compliment the fare wonderfully. Your entree comes with a choice of soup or salad. The salad comes family style with a house dressing. I personally only eat ranch on salad so I skip the salad here, but I hear it's great. I opt for Minestrone soup, which is so good that I always forget I have a meal coming and fill up on my bread sticks and soup. (Another reason for so many left-overs) Their menu is extensive and I've never been let down by a meal yet. Lots of pastas, chicken, steak and seafood options. Yummy cheeses and sauces and even some low fat options. All of their servings are big so be prepared to ask for a box. They'll even give you more bread sticks to take home if you ask! The wait can be long but they just started offering the option of calling in before you go and getting on the list. This is like a pseudo reservation (which they don't take) and is an amazing option, especially for groups. Did I mention that I really like the Olive Garden??

This has to be one of my favorite restaruants. They treat you very well there. They've always been polite and friendly and answer any questions about the menu you have. Which, is very good if you have a family member who may not be able to eat certain things that maybe in the food. Like cheese products or certain types of meats. The Salad is to die for it's probably the best salad dressing I've ever tasted. The food is delicious, the breadsticks come out and are warm and fresh. The Olive Garden also has a big menu with plenty to chose from. The only problem with the restaraunt is that if you're trying to go on a weekend or a Friday night good luck getting in because you can wait a long while for a table, but it's well worth the wait.

Always a treat and always my favorite, dependable back-up for Italian food. The breadsticks and salad are what everyone always starts drooling about every time you mention those two magic words "Olive Garden." I've been there many times, but it's my last visit that inspired me to actually review it. I was partly influenced for this visit by having a gift card....so. This time I just ordered the salad and a side of Alfredo sauce for the bread sticks; which is plenty. I enjoyed their house blush wine which is sweet and so very palatable that it's hard to remember it's not to be gulped but gently sipped. My date ordered the Seafood Portofino, which has been one of my long-time faves, and enjoyed the magic of pasta tossed with shrimp, scallops, mussels (in shell), and a creamy white wine sauce. Once we had demolished two bowls of the salad, and far more bread sticks that I care to mention, we enjoyed some after dinner drinks. I enjoyed the house red. And I would also like to say, forget dessert! Because they serve Frangelico baby. I had never had the smooth and buttery liquor, much resembling a butter popcorn Jelly Belly, keenly recommended by our lovely wait person Mary. She was a doll, treated us like royalty, and was worth every penny of the tip we left. Fantastico!

I went while it wasnt busy for once and got seated immediately, Service was good and prompt. And the pasta was not undercooked like last time I came. Tasted a bit salty overall and i felt like i was eating italian fast food despite the decor. i would go again if I craved pasta.

I don't eat here nearly often enough. I love love love the breadsticks and salad. The service is good there too, and the wait isn't as long as some other places.

While I love their soup, breadsticks, and dessert, the main entrees are never that great. And it's pretty expensive for the portions you receive. But the service is always excellent and attentive. Next time I'll save money and skip ordering the bland entree!

One salad after the other... one soup after another... a bread basket followed by anther!!! oh man! those guys are on a MISSION to feed MERICA!!! the only thing I noticed to be missing is a conveyor belt from the kitchen to my table! :)

This is our second time visiting this Beaverton location and I must admit that it's been excellent. Service was prompt and the server Justin was very attentive despite it being moderately busy. Quick with refills on the salad and breadsticks and came by just enough times to ask how the food was. Overall, if you've been to Olive Garden, then you know what to expect from the food. I had the Chicken Parmigiana while the Mrs. went with the Stuffed Chicken Marsala. Definitely can't go wrong. Huge portions plenty left to take home. Come for the food, stay for the outstanding service. Great job Justin!

I haven't been to Olive Garden in YEARS but Mom wanted to go. With their call-ahead seating we would have been seated almost instantly, but with her walker we had to wait for a table on the main floor. Even so it was only about 15 minutes ... on a Saturday evening. Yes, it's just iceberg lettuce in the salad but it's cold and crisp and the dressing is delicious. Mom enjoyed her portobella ravioli. I had steak with fettucini alfredo ... such rich delicious alfredo! We both had leftovers to take home. Service was fast and friendly.

Nah, I'm not going to be snobby. Yup, it's a chain. YUP, it's always busy. Yup, it's not all that authentic. But, it's tasty, you can eat your fill of salad/soup/bread sticks - all of which are pretty good. I like myself some Italian food & I've never been let down on anything I've ordered - which is mainly the filled pastas so I cannot comment on their meats stuff. Another bonus? Nice staff. They were patient with my grandmother who takes her time figuring out what to eat. BIG BONUS. They listened to her & were polite. Our waiter was friendly, fast but not overbearing. So yeah, it's chain. But there's a reason why it's successful. They know what they're doing, their food is nummy and reasonably priced. I just can't go too much - It allows too much for overeating (so certainty not a diet friendly place).

  • Kristen M.

Your typical Olive Garden chain restaurant that is known for "Italian" food fare but honestly it's not really authentic if you really think about it. I usually crave their salad, bread sticks and peach iced tea. I think that's pretty much what's good there. Other entrees are pretty much saturated with a LOT of sodium and fat. If you want a so-so semi-italian meal, go here, but there's a lot of places in Portland if you truly want authenticity Other than that, just come here if you want something so-so and you're a bit tight on cash.

OK, we should be laughed at for going. But it is hot tonight and all-you-can-eat OG pasta, salad, soup and bread sticks for $8.95 seemed to fit the bill. Silly me. Now, OG always is about making money. They make sure you know every wine they think would be good with your meal. (The house wine is clearly vinegar, but no large matter and they proudly chalk board it for only $36 a bottle) I was too hot and hungry to laugh properly when I saw that. They have an average ticket that has crept to $15-20 now with all of the salt and cheese that they can properly jam into each platter, to make a bottle or two of vino look good. I am wise that OG hides the all-you-eat deal on their dessert menu--we haven't been here in a coon's age but we found it. The menu is a little cryptic about what is included, mentions nothing about soup or salad or bread sticks. Britney brings the soup and we asked about the salad--but evidently, no go fat boys, you should have asked so now I have to tell you--no salad. Actually she wasn't nasty, but she was exactly helpful. So as this drags on, I am thinking more and more--why did we not go to Pastini's..? Soup was OK, too salty, but that was expected, bread sticks are OG's and they were expected. We tried the new portabella pomodoro sauce. Oooosh! Avoid that one, folks. I get the earthiness under-taste of the 'shrooms but there was something else--kind of chemical like--I don't think there was packaging in the sauce, though who knows, maybe a cryogenic sauce bag sauteed with the sauce for a while, but something I think that was not intentional made up some of the flavor we were trying to place. But this is most people's gripe among gripes with OG. No one cooks here. No one serves here. It's like a weird Italian McDonald's, and not that anyone would care if every last OG sunk into the earth like the house in Poltergeist, but especially in today's market, that don't cut it anymore--even Starbucks gets that today's market it clearly different that it was a year ago. I had the whole wheat pasta--I am still trying to love the stuff, my cardiologist and internist are taking turns jumping on me about my diet--and it and the portabella sauce almost taste right but SO had the sauce on regular penne and it was just too funky--back it went. So I almost finish my plate and SO gives up--check please! Britney didn't care--how long does it take to plate fresh pasta and sauce? SO waited for the check while I am out having a smoke. He's in there a while so I figure he is kidney punching the manager. No, he's waiting for the Britney to process the check. She took off his meal, but that should be expected. Our service should have been lightening quick at the point of the bad plate of food and clearly Britney is hating the deuce that she got stuck with and is working in our ticket when she gets around to it. Two last bits: as I am out having my smoke a gaggle of people come out of OG--one lady was apologizing as the door opens, "I am SO sorry, you're right, I don't know why we didn't go to Pastini's!" The other bit: I came home and wrote OG a note--they have a page with drop down boxes and everything waiting for you to complain, which is telling, but when I went to send the complaint you come to a page that is blank. Did they get my letter? I fill out another form and send it, again, I get a blank screen. I stare at this as I eat the little dinner mint that they give you as you leave the restaurant. It does not satisfy. At all.

So came here on a weekend late afternoon, was fairly busy. My daughter being excited with her first paycheck wanted to take me and her friend out for dinner. We were seated- then this is where it just went from bad to worse. Someone came to our table and got our drink orders apx 10 minutes after we were seated, another 10 minutes passed and what I would assume was our waitress asked what we wanted, we gave her our full appetizer & meal order- we watched as families were sat near us, as their appetizers came and went, as their meals came and as they paid.....yes we were completely forgotten- I went to the front and asked for a manager- a women asked what was wrong I began to inform her of the what was going on, she began yelling at a waiter walking by and said get them their soup & salad! I numbly walked back to the table, about 5 more minutes passed and a girl ran up to us sitting the salad down and stating they had ran out of soup so that was the delay, REALLY? That was the delay??? Gee I don't know- could you have said, Hey we are out of soup & they are making it, can I get you your BREADSTICKS, YOUR SALDAD, HEY how about those appetizers you ordered? Yes- we were there 1 hour & 20 minutes then all of a sudden out came the soup, appetizers & meal comes out- I was so angry by that point that I could barley eat- no wanting to upset my daughter who was excited to buy us dinner with her first paycheck I kept the frustration to myself but let me tell you- I wanted to let loose on them for the horrible dining experience we had- good food or not- to treat your customers like this is ridiculous.

This Olive Garden is really great. The food is always delicious and I have never had a bad server there. The Skinny Strawberry Martini was really delicious. The only downside is they are always really busy when we go in, but luckily there is usually seating at the bar and the servers in the bar are equally awesome.

I usually don't review chain restaurants but I guess this location of Olive Garden is an exception. I came here with relatives & family friends from Australia. This is probably the first Olive Garden I've been to where everyone one, from the bus boy to manager was actually attentive and helpful! Maybe the California locations just suck. Kudos to everyone who works at this Olive Garden!

I'm not a huge fan of Olive Garden but I did feel the service was really good here. I usually get the never ending pasta bowls when I go, which is what I got this time. The waiter was super friendly, he actually messed up my order and did a good job of making sure it got taken care of.

Since I have not attended many Italian cuisine before, I felt Olive Garden would be a decent start. It was Thursday around 1pm after perk hour, and seating only took less then ten minutes. I was seated by the window (though nothing to look at aside from parked cars) I enjoyed the colorful interior and decorations. Upon opening the menu, I was dissapointed to note there were only half dozen pasta dishes to choose from, and I was not interested in pizza, soup, or sandwhiches. So I ordred Chicken Parmigiana for $10. 75 and waited about 20 minutes for food to be served while sipping on my Caramel Hazelnut Macchiato, which was decadent. The portion of the meal was quite small, even for me. My polite smile turned to frown as the food was brought to my lips. Pasta was not al dente and overcooked, even somewhat dry from being left out in the kitchen somewhere, and sauce barely covered the lifeless noodles. I was glad I did not go for the more expensive dish, as I purchase Italian made pasta and sauce at home and able to prepare it quickly, with more fresh ingredients and spices for fraction of the cost. Perhaps I'll try small family owned Italian restaurant in the future, but for now I shall stick to preparing it at home.

First-a moment of mourning for the demise of Pasta Velocce-our quick go to pasta place on SWNDakota in Tigard/Beaverton..whichever that part of town is. Guess that doesn't matter because last night there was a big empty spot where it used to be. Since we wanted something similar and wanted it to go, we phoned in an order to Olive Garden....never had take out Olive Garden before and...it wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. It was *****mediocre**** As far as I'm concerned OG's primary high point is the never ending salad and bread sticks. I thought the salad-to-go would disappoint but they give you a ginormous takeout dish complete with pharm cheese and their nice dressing. For that I raised my 2 star rating to 3. Got breadsticks, plenty of them and they were - well - breadsticks. Baked zita was good as it usually is...but after we ate we wondered just why we bothered. We could have bought a bag-0-salad for a couple of bucks picked up some breadsticks etc etc for 1/3 the cost of the mediocre OG food. Why do people flock to the place? I dunno-maybe because they don't know about Nonna Emelias. Hard to believe there aren't many GOOD italian-ish restaurants in the Canyon/TV Highway strip. Anyone? Anyone?

This place is always full..... and for good reason..... IT IS GOOD! I went here and had the toasted ravioli.... first I dont like red sauces.... so I put lemon on it and wow ... just wow.... it is good. The Zuppa is wonderful and has a bit of spice to it but will be tempered by the Parmesan they put on it if you opt for that. The food for the most part is good. I am not a fan of generic stuff like lasangna so I dont know how theirs is, but what I can say is the specials they have are usually very good and everyone who works here....actually look like they enjoy working here. I get so excited about the soup and the raviolis that I usually end up only taking a bite maybe two of my dinner and then I have a huge lunch for the next day.... okay who am I kidding.... I have a breakfast and lunch the next day. ...... dont judge.... leftover olive garden IS a good breakfast lol. The last time we were there I ordered their seasonal blueberry crack drink..... I took a sip and oh gods unicorns came out to do a happy dance for me.....

I ate at the Salem OG a few weeks ago and the experience was so bad that I complained via email to the OG website. They replied with a phone call, an email, and a gift card for the amount that I had spent on that meal ($60). So when I was in the Portland area yesterday and didn't want to fork over real cash, my friend and I decided to get our meal for "free" at OG. For the first time ever, we were smart and only ordered soup, salad, bread sticks, and sodas. Since we were being so cheap we also got marinara and alfredo for stick dippin'. My son, already having eaten lunch, just got a dessert. The food was predictable and didn't disappoint. The waiter was super nice and attentive. Since we didn't order entrees we didn't leave feeling ripped off or disgustingly full. So I guess that's the secret--don't order entrees and OG doesn't suck. Why didn't I figure this out before?

Your typical Olive Garden, though, the food was better than any other Olive Garden I have ever been to and the service (though we had an entire room w/50 people) was absolutely superb. I had their caesar salad and chicken parm - both were very well done. The kicker? The 50 of us were there for my daughters soccer team dinner. When the check came, one of the parents insisted on splitting the check 16 ways!!!! (16 players and their parents). So the poor waiter had to go around and see who ordered what and then come up with 16 checks!! That deserves 1 whole star in my book. Needless to say, I didn't find out who that parent was or I would have been in the news that night. Ya feel me?

Keeping things in perspective, this is Olive Garden & I'm reviewing their soup & service. Sometimes I want to pop in and eat a couple of bowls of their hot Minestrone soup on cold days. Rachael, the Service Mgr., was very polite and made sure our visit was as warm as the soup.

WE sat at the Bar, WE always sit at the bar haha... it's small but its nice. The bartenders were busy serving drinks for the entire restaurant but still had mucho time for us. The food? It's fantastic, the drink prices are steep compared to the types of places we normally hang out... i.e Broadway Saloon, Nona Emilia's Pizza, Morgys Pub, Club house, and The Old Barn on Barbur! Once in a while though you just have to take your girl out and get her what she wants, and she's been wanting Olive Garden for a while!

I have been to Olive Garden so many times, yet I believe this is the first time I am writing review. They are more than OK. I kind of like them yet not quite a fan yet. It is 3.5 stars for me. And contrary to popular joke that people keep throwing at Olive Garden, they are actually not that bad. I think they deserve some credits The service it is like any other mid restaurant in america. They have dedicated waitress/servers in some area. Asking something should not be too difficult. Our servers were nice and did everything in flash. We got our foods and orders as fast as we can imagine. he is nice and does not giving us side eyes when all of us asking for the refill of the soup :) The food I have ordered so many stuffs before. all the food were not bad. I tried Chicken Parmigiana this time and it tasted great. The crispiness of the chicken were almost perfect. The sauce and the taste were great. The spaghetti and the sauce were just ok. But the chicken itself worth the compliments. The soups were good. It's creamy and tasty. Just try it :) The location It is located in plaza area where you can find lots of restaurants or stores around there. Parking is piece of cake since they have their own parking spot. You can also park in other parking spot that are not designated for olive garden as long as it is still within the plaza area. The atmosphere do not expect to be like in Italy when you eat here. It is nice decorated but without emphasizing on any theme. It was just good decorated. The table were too small for 5 of us but we were ok. We had fun ! We enjoyed our stay there :)

Nice extra seating outside when waiting for tables but no cover which doesn't work well when it's raining. The wait was actually exactly what they said, 20 minutes for a party of 6. It may have been sooner except it was the lunch-time rush, around 12:30 and there were a lot of people eating there who had just ran the Race for a Cure. The staff was nice, nothing special. Our server took a while to finally get our drink orders let alone our lunch orders. It was raining outside and the area they seated had the AC on full blast. But when we asked them if they could turn off the air they did...for about ten minutes. I'm not sure, but the people who were in the race could've asked it to be turned back on. They did seat us in a large area with other families with children which was nice. This way we don't have to worry about our kids being loud. The food was prepared well and in good time. We did have to ask the server for refills. I am a stickler for having my drink cup always filled. The ladies' restroom was a decent size and was clean. It's always a plus when the restroom has a changing table. There is no area for nursing mothers but I think at this point in time that would still be considered a luxury. All in all, this is a nice restaurant and I would recommend it but only if you have a coupon. It is kind of pricey.

It's Olive Garden. Mainstream food served at mainstream prices served by overworked wait staff. Make sure call for reservations or plan on waiting a loooooong time if you go during peak weekend hours.

Dropped in this morning JUST after they opened (like two minutes after) so not busy yet. This is a beautiful Olive Garden, and feels very spacious. A lot of the tables have chairs on wheels - they roll easily enough to get in and out simply, but not so easily as to be a problem. (I'm eight months pregnant and rather awkward by now, so I really really appreciated this!) The food was the usual Olive Garden - very tasty, and a good selection. Five stars, then? Why five stars? Because the service was INCREDIBLE. Granted this was not during a rush, but the server we had was at our table *every* time we needed something, and never hovering annoyingly when we *didn't*. She was very friendly and helpful, and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we could want. That included bringing out our two-year-old's grapes with the salad and breadsticks, and getting his macaroni and cheese expedited so it would come out a little quicker than the average entree. (He only told her he wanted mac and cheese about four times while we were ordering our drinks...lol.) The only exception was my water, which wasn't refilled - but, she was by twice when it was half-full and empty and asked if we needed stuff. We identified other things those times but not the water, and I only ran out right as I finished my meal - so that is on me not her. Just be aware that they may not proactively refill your drink, you may have to ask for it. Had I not been done and content with just that one glass of water, I would have, and I'm sure she'd have gotten it there quickly. I like Olive Garden in general. I like this Olive Garden, specifically, a *lot* based on this experience.

We had literally a perfect lunch here. I will have to admit that it is because we went during the week, as opposed to a weekend. Way too crowded then. This was the kind of experience that every restaurant should strive for. Great greeting upon entry. Very nice and clean lobby. Immediate sitting. Very friendly and welcoming waiter. John W. was our waiter, couldn't have been nicer of more attentive. All together, we had minestrone soup, the excellent salad, linquine marinara and gnocci. And of course, the famous bread sticks. Absolutely delicious, everything. Each time I travel to Beaverton, I am going to this Olive Garden.

Beyond being an elitist food snob...there is a reason Olive Garden is a successful chain. You want to hate them because they are a "chain" which is eeeeevil etc etc. But seriously, they do deliver good food and service for a reasonable price. I love their minestrone and if I want to just have a bottomless bowl of that (though really I can only finish MAYBE a bowl and a half) and endless breadsticks than I can have that. We have grown very fond of the fonduta. There are not that many chain restaurants I go to but this is one of them. This location is wildly busy almost every night though so my advice to you, dear reader, is to get takeout (which Olive Garden ROCKS at btw) or sneak into their bar section which usually has a free table.

Prices have really inflated here. The service isnt great and they keep getting rid of all our favorite dishes. Totally not worth it. I used to love this place it was our go to place since when we were teenagers going on dates but it has really gotten bad.

Got a $50 giftcard from mom so my partner and I took a couple friends for dinner. It was a Sunday night and packed, so we were given one of those lighted hockey pucks and waited in the bar. And waited. After 40 minutes someone in our party checked to find out when we'd be seated. Turns out they'd 'forgotten' about us, but then seated us right away. To Olive Garden's credit they gave us a $20 giftcard for the mistake. The rest of the night was enjoyable. Our waiter was warm and attentive, the restaurant was very clean with inviting colors. The food, however, was mediocre. Most everything lacked flavor. The stuffed mushrooms and portobello ravioli were particularly bland. I guess this is in an attempt to please a wide market and American's bland palette. On the otherhand, the salad and bread sticks were fresh and delicious. I could've eaten them all night.

  • Danyel S.

Service was excellent. But, since they don't put much meat or seafood in their dishes, I think the food is overpriced.

    (3)
  • Jeff D.

Prices are too high for the quality you get. I can make two orders of Fettucine Alfredo for a third of the cost and it has much more flavor. Their alfredo sauce is nearly flavorless. However they have delicious stuffed mushrooms and some of their other pasta dishes are adequate. They expect you to fill up on bread and salad because their servings are a bit small. The staff can be occasionally snotty but are generally polite and friendly.

It's been awhile since I yelped and guess I'm just in the mood to write all the reviews I've been meaning to do. I'm sure everyone had Olive Garden once upon their lives. Places like this has it's good days and it has it's bad. Food will always stay the same, the difference is the service you get. The food gets a 1 star because it's so generic (although good, don't get me wrong). But I can eat here for so long and get sick of it. Sometimes I feel like I can make this myself at home and save the $14 unearned doll hairs in my pocket. The next 2 stars goes to the great service I got and their smart marketing/promotion (unlimited pasta bowls). The GF and I got there later than normal dinner rush, so we expected to be seated without a wait. That wasn't the case, but than again I don't mind the wait. When we got our salad, we thought the dressing was very heavy. Other than that, the bread sticks are always the bomb.com and the pasta was just ehh. What really made my experience better was the waitress that served us. She was polite and friendly, and was very patient with us. She wasn't pushy about selling drinks or dessert to us and checked on us at the right time. For her alone, I would give her a 3 stars for her service. Recommendation: Save your money and cook for yourself. If you're craving for some really good pasta or maybe you deserve to treat yourself a nice meal, drive over to Downtown Portland and visit Build to Grill. For half the price, you will get some freshly cooked pasta with some unforgettable tastes. But if you do go back to OG, I don't blame you. The marketing is just too good!

Took 26 minutes to get our drinks from the time we sat down, all we ordered was iced tea. They weren't busy our waiter just lacked skills.. We were there for an hour and a half and boxed most of our food up. Waited on our boxes for 15 minutes. Our waiter never acknowledged how poor his service was or apologized. Will not be going back.

I've always enjoyed the Olive Garden, no, not as a place to take a partner or band of co-workers, but as somewhere to spend quality time with family. That's the kind of place The Olive Garden is to me. The customer service is almost always top notch. As for the food, it isn't the best quality, generic, Americanized, etc. Sure I expect a Ceasar Salad to be on romaine lettuce but I'd also like to get salads with much greener leaf as I'd get in an authentic Mediterranean restaurant. I've felt the same way about most of their food, it's "good", it represents Italian, but it is in essence the McDonald's of Italian food. That's not to say I dislike it. I love their soups, salads, fried mushrooms, among other things and as I stated before it's the kind of place I go when I was to enjoy a table with a large group of friends and family, that's when this restaurant is at it's best.

I think it's fair to say that this review is *not* based on some objective look at the food as cuisine. This review is based on a) the value of the meal and b) the service. People do not go to Olive Garden because it's cuisine. If you're looking for something subtle and well-made, go somewhere else. If you want a lot of food and reasonably good service, go here.

Worst Meal Ever. I hadn't been to an Olive Garden in about 10 years. And based on this experience I won't return. I ordered the Apricot Chicken with broccoli & asparagus. The broccoli was so old it was yellow. Have you ever eaten yellow broccoli? It can make you sick! The bummer was our server didn't return to see how our meal was (it was delivered by a runner) until I had eaten all my chicken. The sauce on the chicken tasted like it came from a jar. My husband's spare ribs looked and tasted like they were a frozen Lean Cuisine type meal. And my son's kiddie pizza was bland. The manager was very nice and took my meal off the bill because of the broccoli snafu. But really, overall the food was so mediocre that paying $14-17 per entree was unacceptable. You can pay that much in a decent restaurant and get way better food for your money.

Yeah it is a chain but this olive garden is awesome! We went tonight around 6 got seated in 3 minutes. They were pretty busy and our waiter made sure to stop by say hi and let us know he would be with us soon. He was awesome and kept up with the rush. Our food was so yummy and I don't think I have ever been disappointed with olive garden.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
