Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant Menu

I do enjoy Mazatlan restaurants in general. I have to admit one of the reasons I go to Mazatlan is for their beans & chips but this location it's a hit or miss. Sometimes the beans are good and other times it's really watery at this location anyway. I always stick to my usual. Either Carne Asada or Chicken A la crema. Both great choices here!

What makes this place stand out is how fast the food comes out. It's decent food, friendly staff.

I may just be spoiled by living in so-cal but it's hard for me to find good mexican food elsewhere. I ordered fajitas here yesterday, as it's a one stop shop meal to judge their baseline mexican food capability. Unfortunately it was syrupy and sweet. I'd only expect a tinge of sweet in a aftertaste of yellow onions and peppers, but mostly savory. This tasted more like italian chicken marsala. A let down in expectations but no matter, every thing was still delicious and top quality.

Get the chicken al e crema, flour torts. The sauce is rich, creamy and flavorful. I had it many times, it is the same every time, nothing short of excellent

3/15, Ok it's been 4 years and it is time for a much needed update. I have dropped this place down to 2 stars, they have really gone downhill over the past few years. My Parents loved this place, sadly they are both gone now so I have no real reason to eat here on my own. That said we had a family gig there last Saturday and it inspired me to update my review. Chips are out of a bag, mehhhhh, I ordered the Ground Beef Taco and Cheese Enchilada, both were fairly tasteless, nothing special at all. I much prefer Mia Jalisco, their food is so much tastier and well prepared. The last straw was my SIL ordered a two Enchilada Combo with Crema, what she got was a two Enchilada Combo Verde (Green Chili). She refused it and they brought it back a few minutes later, she looked at it and they scraped the Verde sauce off, put Crema on and re-heated it. No bueno. They also had a hell of a time serving our lunches, they had no idea who ordered what. No need to return with so many better places to have Mexican food.

Best margaritas in town! At least that's what the website says and when we told our waitress that we came here for the best margarita in town....she did look at us a bit skeptically and said, "Where'd you hear that?" There are a lot of different kinds of margaritas and other cocktails. There are different sizes, the 16oz is plenty. They even have that cocktail in a bowl if you're into that. This restaurant is located in a strip mall between a bar/suburban night club and a Chinese restaurant. The interior is your typical tacky Mexican-American restaurant. There is no bar but there are a couple of TVs around the place if you want to watch something (the Blazer game for us that night) and enjoy a margarita with their complimentary chips and salsa and bean dip. I really like the salsa. It's spicy hot and I like it that way. I am sure if you asked for mild, they would have it available. The bean dip is a nice contrast to the heat. We ordered the special that night which was the pork carnitas. We ordered one to split between the both of us and it was a good thing we did because the servings were plentiful. Lots of meat, beans, and rice. I liked everything although the carnitas were a little on the dry side for me but that's personal preference. All in all, it was a good evening. I don't know if I would say that I had the best margarita in town.....wait.....yeah, It is the best margarita I've had in Aloha so the statement is true. This is the best margarita in town and if you happen to be in the hood, do stop by. Try the fried ice-cream too.

This place has really gone downhill. The last few times I've been there the service has been SO SLOW. Each time was at lunch when the dining room was about 1/3 full. The food was bland too. It seems like they just don't care anymore.

I've eaten at this location for 10 years+. They're incredibly consistent, friendly, and quick! The salsa is a favorite of mine and don't forget to ask for the green salsa as well. Chips, salsa, and bean dip are served when seated at a table. It's my go-to mexican restaurant of choice!

  • Amanda R.

The food is always great, it's consistent and never is disappointing. They have very quick take out also. There cheese enchiladas are the best and the fajitas are grilled perfect and not raw tasting

Been going to this Mazatlan since they opened~(have tried others, as well) The waitstaff~always pleasant and the food consistently great. It's always kept clean, too! We especially loved it when they started serving frijoles with the salsa & chips, as we used to order a side of beans just for dipping and now we don't have to! The portions are generous and the plates are 'caliente' when served! Always a pleasant 'adios' as we leave the establishment. I recommend this place over any other Mexican Restaurants in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area.

Ordered nachos and mango Margarita. Delicious. Service was pleasantly brisk. My little friend ordered a AMF. It's ginny and good. Will return.

Mazatlan is a Mexican chain all over the state of Oregon, but this particular location on TV Highway is my favorite and still one of the best Mexican restaurants you can find. I used to go here all the time as a teenager and still drop in occasionally. Sergio (the owner) is a friend of my family and it's great to chat with him whenever he happens to be there. The food is very good value and is delicious with large portions, and the chips and salsa are the best I've ever had. I don't know what they put in that salsa, but it's hot and has fantastic kick to it. I've been hit-or-missing all over with the Mazatlan chain, but the one in Hillsboro rocks and has for years. Check it out.

Pretty average and standard Mexican food. You won't have your socks knocked off, but you won't hate it either.

Always a winner. I love the total experience. Chicken ala crema is awesome. Chicken enchiladas and chili rellenos are right on!

My worst experience in a long time for a waitress. The waitress Claudia (taken from my receipt) was the least friendly waitress I have seen in a very long time. She walked right up to the table, and asked what we wanted to drink. No hello, how are you, or anything. She wasn't even smiling the whole time I saw her working while we were there. It was like she was working all pissed off or something. The other waitresses that came by to refill our drinks, chips, salsa etc were actually much friendlier, and at least were smiling. She brought our drinks, but was just as unpleasant when it came to ordering. No friendliness or anything just an abrupt You ready to order? It just seemed very odd. I ordered the top shelf Margarita for a drink, and it just tasted like a cheap watered down Margarita. A waste of $11.50. I did enjoy the chips. They seemed thicker than normal Mexican free chips and salsa chips. They had a good taste, and we did end up getting a second basket of them. My burrito was okay. It was nothing that would bring me back to this place. The guacamole was very bland. This was the icing on the cake. The waitress brings us our bill, and puts two peppermint candies with it. Once we place the card on the tray she comes to pick it up, and asks if we wanted the candies? We both said no, and I can only assume they reuse them. I found it very tacky to ask us if we wanted the candies.

Just okay Mexican food. The salsa is really good, but everything else is just okay. The service at the bar is always super slow. I typically like margaritas on the rocks but here they just aren't cold enough so I get blended. Lots of blended margarita flavors to choose from, but they usually aren't fully blended which wouldn't be a big deal if the food was good. Pretty greasy and not in a good way.

I wish this was a 5 star review. Hell, I wish this was a 3 star review. As it is, it's barely 2 stars. Mazatlan is seriously convenient for my wife and I. It's less than a 5 minute drive from home. I'd been here before, years and years ago, and it was for lunch. I didn't remember anything about that visit, so it was worth the "risk" for us to skip an ordinary choice and venture out a bit. Wife is vegan and easy to please when it comes to Mexican food. She gets rice, whole beans, lettuce and corn tortillas. Every time. Therefore, unless a restaurant is really off it's game, she will be happy. Me, not so much. For me, the test of a Mexican restaurant is either Tacos al Carbon or Carne Asada. I chose to test Mazatlan with Tacos al Carbon. It was very, very bad. A warning flag was immediately sent when our food came out at MOST five minutes after ordering it. I was, quite frankly, shocked at how quickly it arrived. I just couldn't believe anything that came out that quickly could be worth a hoot. I was right. The steak was terrible. Barely warm, no seasoning and seemingly microwaved. When I say no seasoning, I mean none. Zero. Zilch. It was chewy, as bland as you could possibly imagine and just... gray pieces of meat. I could only finish 2 of the 3 tacos. Refried beans were fine, as was the rice. The chips, salsa and bean dip are nice touches and were also fine. Service was excellent. I just can't look past the steak transgressions.

I'm not sure what all the complaints are about this place? I have on many occasions been in here and it's in the perfect area. It shares is parking area with of course Dr. Feelgoods bar, Stir Crazy Kitchen and Safeway. Couldn't ask for more than being right next door to a dive bar! The food is, surprisingly good here. I don't frequent often, (I'm usually next door) but when I think about a meal I go in here and get some of the best food. Has a full bar too, I always enjoy that. What a lush I am! he he.. but all in moderation. I love also that they have warm bean dip with the salsa and chips starter. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Always a must do! Enjoy if you like Mexican food!

went there the other day with my wife and thinking the last time the food was decent and she really wanted mexican food we would go there cause its super close to our house we get there and get seated we order the service was terrible the lady couldnt really speak english that good so it took awhile to order our food she was very rude to us it took forever to get her to come back to our table our drinks came like 30 minutes of us being seated we waited for our food for over an hour and finally it came it was terrible after it took another 15 minutes to find our waitress and told her the food was bad she said i could order something else i told her this is the worst time we ever had her she said its not her fault the cook is lazy i got the order to go that replaced my food i ended up throwing it away it was very bland

This was a spur of the moment dinner to celebrate Father's Day on our way back from the coast. You see Big Daddy had a hankering for a margarita all afternoon so we ended up at this location in a strip mall along TV Highway. I didn't expect a lot, but it turned out to be a surprisingly pleasant meal. First and foremost, the service was above and beyond great from the moment we walked in the door to the time we left, followed moments later by our server running after us with the leftovers we'd forgotten. I see my fellow Yeeps have ripped the Portland and Cornelius locations a new one, but there were no issues here. Chips were crisp, warm and tasty and were served with salsa and warm bean dip, nice touch. We were constantly having our water glasses and chip baskets refilled until we begged, "no mas!" My house margarita on the rocks and El Jefe's 21-oz Killer Margarita (which he two fisted) were just fine. We enjoyed the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo (prawns and sauteed vegetables) and Carnitas de Res (tenderloin sauteed with peppers and onions). The entrees were served sizzling hot on comically large 18" circular plates. The kids happily nibbled on tortillas and burgers. It is the sign of a satisfying meal when you wouldn't change a thing, except maybe use a coupon off their web site: mazatlanmexicanrestauran…

I suppose everyone has different tastes but having moved here from California and having eating in many Mexican restaurants over my fifty-seven years this is one of my most favorite restaurants of any culinary style. My husband, my self and our family have been eating at this Aloha store since 1997 when we moved here from California. We love the food and the service. Every time we go there it feels like home to us. In fact if we eat at a different Mazatlan we feel as if we are 'cheating' on 'our' restaurant. I can't say I've tried every dish on the menu but there are favorites that I never tire of. The Burrito Manadero is great plus Thursday through Saturday they have Pork Carnitas that are out of this world if you are a pork purist and just enjoy the taste of a well cooked pork roast. I strongly suggest my favorite cocktail the Cazuela but be warned it's a BIG drink that is easy to throw back. We used to have one each, my husband and I, but now we share one drink as it packs a punch for sure!!! In the end we are so happy to see our wonderful friends at this Mazatlan location weather the dip in the economy and still be going strong. They deserve to succeed and we enjoy being one of their more frequent supporters.

Oh how the mighty can fall. This was our go-to place for Mexican food on a weeknight - and that food still exists, but now they've ticked me off. I saw a guy eating soup at the next table. I looked at the menu, and saw they had two choices for soup - tortilla and some other kind, both of which I like. So I told the waiter when he came, that I would like to get the soup the guy at the next table had. There is a language barrier here. Well I ended up with a huge bowl of very very bad seafood soup. Seafood soup is NOT on the menu! The waiter should have told me that the guy next to me was not eating food off the menu! So I ended up with this horrible, rancid, awful soup with hunks of bad seafood in it. The scallop? BAD The crab leg? AMMONIA! Tasted. like. ammonia. The waiter came back later and asked how I liked it, and I had him smell it and he was like shrugging his shoulders and did not offer any recompense. I was charged an outrageous $15.00 for that soup. I'll never ever go back. Bad bad soup. Bad staff - and we knew our watier - we had him several times before! I know his NAME! And we STILL got treated like that! I'm so mad I'll tell everyone I know about it. What a crock of bad soup. Ewwww.

So I have read all the reviews for this restaurant and I am not sure if some folks are reviewing the right place or maybe I have always just gotten great service and good food. First I will say I come from two schools of Mexican food. Northern Mexican which is what I consider Mazatlan. Sit down, chips and salsa are brought to your table and everything comes with rice and beans. NorCal Mission style Mexican meaning bomb ass burritos. Since moving to the Portland area I have struggled to find even semi decent Northern Mexican and can't find a decent burrito to save my life and I have tried all the trucks. (If one more person suggest Chiptole when I mention a burrito craving I am going to rip my eyes out) I love Mazatlan, it is the only place I have found to coming close to fulfilling my Mexican craving. You get chips, salsa and bean dip. Bean dip people, thats not a staple elsewhere. Plus on weekend evenings their is someone who just refills chip and salsa and water and so on. Which is wonderful since it can get packed. The food itself is decent, more decent than anything else I have found up here. It can on occasion come out shockingly quick from the kitchen, but so far everything I have had I have enjoyed.

just discovered that I wrote a review a while ago for the wrong location!! oops! here it is: this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to in Portland and it's not too far from where I live. it's also my husband's favorite place to dine in the area. they serve chips with salsa and bean dip to start. I've been here for both lunch and dinner. both times, the food has been well-seasoned and well-cooked. I typically have to douse my food in salsa at Mexican restaurants. I know this is a local chain. not sure if the other locations are as good but this one is worth the trip out to Beaverton.

Finally! A good Mexican food resturaunt in the area. I should have checked Yelp! sooner. Friends had told me that there were no decent Mexican sit down resturaunts in the area. I beleived them. Until last Friday. My family and I were headed to Happy Panda and decided at the last minute to try Mazatlan. The interior is nice, bright and festive. The wait staff is attentive and wonderful with well behaved children. My husband loved his fajita burrito. My son's chicken quesadilla was delicious. The appetizer chips were crispy. They were served with a side of refried beans, an unexpected surprise. I had the ground beef taco and chile rellanos plate. It was OK. When we go back I will try something else. The prices were great too. We definately plan to add Mazatlan to our clutch of family date night restaurants.

I like all of the area's Mazatlan restaurants; this one is my favorite. The lunch specials are hard to beat - good food at a great price. The staff at this store is ultra-attentive, even more so than the usual high-quality Mazatlan service in general. When I eat here I don't feel like a customer, I feel like a guest. Even if the food was marginal (and yet it's great), I'd come for the cheerful service alone. I'll give the other Mazatlan stores a 4/5, but this store gets a 5/5.

I had a coupon and thought I'd try it out. I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants and this was no exception. The coupon did what it was intended for (to get me into the door). There were a few people in there initially when I arrived around dinner time. Then whole bunches of people started showing up. The wait staff was over whelmed. I finally got a chance to order and went for the chicken fajita. It took a really long time to get my food - good thing I had plenty of chips and salsa to keep me conscious until the food arrived. By the way, the chips and salsa were really really good. As for the fajita, not the greatest in my opinion. The chicken was dry and not browned (I'm thinking precooked and then added last after the veggies were fried up) and the sauce tasted overly sweet. The corn tortillas were ok (not even made on site) and the guacamole and sour cream was also only ok. Other than that, it was edible. I guess I'm spoiled by the local taquerias (which are more authentic) and all the trips to mexico.

This is just your average Mexican restaurant. It is good but not great. The lunch specials are very affordable and the portions are large. The chips and salsa were the best part. The staff is very friendly and fast. I'm sure I will go back.

We've never actually eaten inside this restaurant, which is why I've only given it four stars, but we get Mexican fried ice cream here occasionally and it is AMAZING- especially with honey on it. It's always a huge treat for our family and for $5 a piece, they're (almost) too large to eat alone!

  • N A.

The service was fine. Sadly, no draft beer; but I don't really hold that against them, it just doesn't boost their rating either. As for the quality of food, I've definitely had better. Still, it's decent for the price. Might I eat here again? Possibly... I just won't be planning my week around it.

Generally I like Mazatlan. It has consistently decent food and ok service. I ended up buying gift certificates on restaurant.com for this place ($25 off if you spend 35 on food) and the manager refused to accept it saying it was expired. When i showed him the fine print that said it never expired( I paid for it!!!) he told me that it did not matter as they would never accept it. It has been a long time since I was treated so poorly by anyone at a restaurant, especially a manager. The food is ok, but why go somewhere that hires complete jerks with 0 customer service skills? There is a lot of great mexican food in the portland area and I will continue to vote for better service and food with my dollars, never again will i support Mazatlan.

Before you read this review, keep in mind that I pretty much only order cheese enchiladas at Mexican restaurants. It is my bread and butter :) We have lived in Oregon for almost 6 years now and up until a week ago I have not found a place that makes enchiladas exactly how I like them. This place did. The cheese was runny, the sauce was perfect and the beans and rice complimented this mess perfectly. My husband ordered a combo enchilada, taco and pollo relleno (I think) and seemed to like it pretty well too. I can't say that there was anything particular about this place that astounded me except for the fact that it fit the bill. Everyone has different criteria for their Mexican food and this might not be the place for them, but it was for me. I highly recommend it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
