My mom and I come here specifically for the Menudo, we have tried many around town and this is by far the best, I enjoy these little Mexicali style restaurants, homemade tortillas and a selection of beer. The service is always warm and pleasant.

Finally found a gooood Mexican restaurant. It only took 3 years. Totally worth the wait. I had the Sopa and wow, fresh, didn't taste fishy, and I didn't feel gross afterwards. When we walked in the waitress greeted us and seated us right away. There were a lot of people so we figured it must be good. Their carnitas are also very good. Try it try it try it!!! This place was formally la Sierra but I guess they are privately owned now so they changed their name to Maria Bonita.

This is my favorite go to restaurant! The staff here are wonderful and the food is great! I love love love the tacos. And the best news... The liquer license is up and moving. Had a refreshing cold beer with my tasty tacos on Saturday, and I am still in heaven on Monday!

This is a lovely neighborhood place with great prices, fresh food, homemade sauces and tortillas. The services was warm and friendly also. We got giant platters and 2 sodas for $20. I did not think that was possible for sit down service.

What was once La Sierra Mexican Restaurant & Cantina is now called Maria Bonita. As of this writing Yelp has two restaurants listed at this location: La Sierra and Maria Bonita. That's wrong. From our server we learned that this property is under new ownership and is operating under the name "Maria Bonita." Ownership may have changed but there are still some leftovers from La Sierra Mexican Restaurant & Cantina. The interior looks much the same but to me it seemed brighter. The menu still features the Torta Hawaiana, menudo, and a complimentary tortilla dessert. However, at the present time Maria Bonita is not serving alcoholic beverages. No Negra Modelo with my Mexican feast! Dang! Service is friendly but awful. Our server had a tendency to disappear into the kitchen. One of my pet peeves is a table full of empty plates and an MIA server. That happened quite a bit on our visit to Maria Bonita. The menu features appetizers, tortas, salads, some vegetarian items, seafood, fajitas, salads, various Mexican combinations, and a children's menu. On our visit we sampled a chorizo burrito, a chicken tosatada, a beef taco, and tamale. The prices are quite good. Combinations go from about $8.95 to about $12.95 and include rice and beans. The food at Maria Bonita reminds me of being invited over to a friend's house for a Mexican meal. Your friend fixed you up a nice Mexican dinner but certainly didn't hit the ball out of the park. If I had never been to Phoenix, Arizona and Woodburn, Oregon then maybe I would have enjoyed Maria Bonita better. However, those two cities have taught me what quality ingredients in the hands of a skilled chef can do with Mexican cuisine. The five star reviews here baffle me. There's still an opening for a high quality Mexican eatery in Beaverton. Please! Somebody come in and fill that position soon!

My coworker and I saw the "Lunch Specials $5.50" sign and decided to give it a try. But the lunch specials were very minimal. My $8 burrito as pictured was good, but no veggies, they were extra. We felt somewhat deceived by the sign and the prices seemed high for what you get. Probably will go to Chipotle or Baja Fresh less than half a mile away next time.

Good place to grab tacos in the middle of the night, I'm a vegetarian so they didn't have many options for me but I was in the mood for what I ordered, which helped. Would not order their margaritas again, felt like that was a rip for the price. I am willing to go back and try other items on the menu at some point though.

While looking for a different restaurant, I ended up here. Ordered the Torta Cubana, and I can honestly say that it was the best I've ever had and for the size, it was properly priced at $8.50. Layers of milanesa beef, grilled ham, grilled hot dogs (yeah, hot dogs), thin plain omelet, shredded lettuce, and avocado! I took half home to enjoy later. The waiter was personable and attentive, and will visit again soon.

Yuck. Watery, too spicy salsa. Chips seemed stale. My sons gave 6 out of 10 on their burritos. One thought it was halfway between Taco Bell and Chipotle. I had 3 tacos, all different. Mostly quite delicious. Bad first impression: grimy, unwashed glass door and filthy carpet.

I ordered the fish tacos. It was excellent! I've had fish tacos from several different Mexican restaurants in the beaverton portland area, and these were by far the best! I brought my two daughters here and it was great! We also got nachos. The salsa is really good and the beans and rice were awesome! Our waiter was very friendly and prompt with refills, etc. in the background there was a Mexican soccer game going on, and Mexican music playing.

I have not had a dish that hasn't been super yummy at this restaurant. The prices are reasonable. The food is great. The tacos are perfect. The carne asada was dreamy. I'd go eat there everyday if I could.

After seeing the 5 stars (with 4 reviews) we were hoping to find a hidden gem...unfortunately we are still searching. Even though there were spots available, we had to wait to be acknowledged and seated. They took our drink order (which wasn't too much since they didn't have margaritas) and then we didn't see them again until after they took the orders of people who came in after us. The two of us were able to eat all of our chips (which never got refilled) and need a couple of refills on the 5 oz. glasses of water (which sat empty multiple times). The place began to fill up, which we were hoping was a good sign, until they got their food before us. The food was mediocre at best, they didn't bring us tortilla for the Chili Colorado, and my order was wrong (ordered 1 chicken and 1 shredded beef enchilada and got 2 chicken). We never had a chance to mention it since they didn't come by to check on us until we finally flagged them down to get Togo boxes. To top it off the enchiladas which were on special on the front board were full price on our check. We usual understand when places have off nights and return again...but this place will not be one of those.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
