One, I'm not a fan of this joint even back home. I don't know what other people are smoking. There are way better joints on the island that blow L&L out of the water. L&L to me has become what Starbucks is for coffee, ok for a quick fix but nothing else beyond that. There is only one reason why I would venture to this spot and that's for a plate of katsu curry. When I feel like slumming it, the portion is a "healthy" size and the clogged feeling in my arteries is exactly what I would expect. While eating the katsu curry at L&L I try to pretend I'm eating the katsu curry plate from Rainbows Drive Inn or even Grace's. Mmmm...I long for the chow fun drowning beneath the katsu curry at Grace's. SLAP! Back to reality...after all this is L&L we're talking about. If you're looking for a decent plate lunch try a different place. For those of you who list this place as one of your favs...I will pray for the Plate Lunch God to have mercy on your soul. A hui hou!

I feel kinda almost like a traitor for leaving a "meh" review for a local kine place. I'll say this for L & L; it was very clean. The restroom was clean. The food was okay. But just barely okay. Nothing like what I expected. I had the seafood plate with fried mahimahi (which I didn't finish), fried shrimp, two scoop rice, mac salad and kalbi (short ribs). The kalbi was okay; I thought the rice was kinda dry. Wish I hadn't ordered fried stuff. The mahimahi almost had more breading than fish. My friend had the garlic mahi and scraped all the garlic-y stuff off, saying it was bitter. My other friend had the barbeque and packed up most of it to take home. I won't go back. It's nothing like back home. When I'm in the area I'll be heading over to Roxy's. Sorry guys, but if I'm gonna pay that much for dinner, then I want a tastier meal.

When going to this place you have to realize that this is a fast food Hawaiian joint. Think Hawaiian McDonald's, okay maybe a little better, think Hawaiian Jack in the Box. There are a few things I always enjoy on the menu. The Chicken Katsu is pretty good. I also like the Haupia and Spam Musabi. The mac salad is okay. the regular size plate is pretty big so I usually get the mini if it is just for me. It's a good place to stop before or after a movie. The seating can be a bit tricky so I usually go sit in the mall.

I never thought that Kalua Pork could ever turn out bad. Well L & L proved me wrong.

My husband and I arrived a little too early for our movie so we decided to grab a quick bite to eat and L&L's bright yellow sign beckoned us over. We have been disappointed by mainland L&Ls in the past, especially since the ones in Hawaii tasted so much better. However, the nachos and Nathan's hot dogs offered at Century did not seem appetizing at all so off to L&L we were! We ordered a Spam Masubi and the Hawaiian BBQ Mix which came with beef short ribs, beef, chicken, two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. I was not impressed with the Masubi which came wrapped in plastic wrap and lacked flavor because the Spam was drowned out by a disproportionate amount of rice. However, the BBQ plate was pretty tasty, especially when you got that perfect amount of rice, mac salad and meat onto your fork. The meal ended up being satisfying but we were left to wonder whether it was actually good or because it's been so long (a year) since we last had L&L in Hawaii?

Terrible katsu curry. When I went to ask for katsu sauce the guy wanted to charge me extra. Hell no.

This is nowhere near the original L&L's from back home. I was so excited to find out that they were here in OR since it is now my new home; however, I wasn't very excited when I actually got to tasting the food. Don't get me wrong though, it isn't bad, but it's nothing like the real deal. I remember when I used to eat at the original L&L #1 "shack" on Liliha since I was a little kid. Boy, were those times great! And so was the food. Which brings me to these "franchised" L&L's. I'm trying to figure out where to start... The katsu is ALWAYS overcooked at this particular branch and I figured out why. The chicken is all pre-fried, and when you order, they refry!! That's just wrong! I understand that katsu is the number one seller by far, but come on, you can't have the meat ready to go, then throw it back in the fryer!! The kalua pig is dry, which seems to be a common theme amongst these "hawaiian plate lunch" joints outside of Hawaii, including the one's in Los Angeles. The mac salad tastes absolutely nothing like the mac back home, which is a shame. I find myself eating here quite often though. I guess I get homesick and homefoodsick so this is comfort food for me. It'll have to do until someone decides to bring "real" food to Oregon. Until then, this will suffice, I guess. By the way, I hope none of the places read my reviews because I don't feel like getting spit or any other foreign objects in my food =P

Dang, since when is L&L's food so expensive? Back home in Hawaii I would eat here for lunch all the time and spend 7 or 8 bucks for a massive take out carton of food and a soda. When I saw one had opened up in Beaverton I had to try it right away. Well, I brought a friend along and ended up spending something like 24 bucks just the for two of us to eat lunch. That's crazy! What happened to my $7 special? Granted there's been inflation in the last two years, and the portions are still generous, but these prices are way out of hand. L&L is supposed to be a step above fast food, sort of like a Hawaiian version of Panda Express, but with much tastier choices! The food itself was OK but didn't quite measure up to the L&L's I remember. I'd say they need to work on some fresh ingredients (not frozen / freeze dryed chicken, but some decent fresh stuff); and also seasoning. Now, Hawaiian "local" food is known to be a little plain by some people's taste, but at least figure out how to salt things properly. Salt should be the most often used seasoning in these type of dishes, but the versions here seemed to be lacking it entirely (at least they really improved after I added my own). All in all, this place was OK, and personally I would eat here again even if more for the the nostalgia of the brand than the food itself. But luckily, there are much better plate lunches to be found in the Beaverton area, so I don't know if I'll be back to L&L's much.

The McDonalds of "Hawaiian-style" takeout-if you can call it that. L & L is an embarrassment to the Hawaiian food culture. The food-we had the loco moco and the Korean Grill plate-bland, beyond bland, dry and overcooked. My daughter also got a Spam musubi which was fine, but really, how can you mess up a Spam musubi?! Will we be returning-methinks not !

I have never written a review on Yelp before, but I went here for lunch today with my husband and it was so disgusting, I just had to sign up and write one. We both got the mini Kalua pork. Lets just say it was boiled in salt water and served with the worst macaroini salad I have ever had. The best part was the white rice...which we normally dont even eat. The meal was completely disgusting and inedible. We paid $14 for 2 minis and 2 drinks. Do not go here.

The restaurant was empty at 6:15pm weekday evening which is unusual for an L&L. We ordered saimen with barbecue beef and chicken katsu musubi. The beef was dry and did not taste like marinaded in teriyaki. It had a fish like flavor? The saimen broth was like colored water with no flavor. I asked that the saimen "broth" be dump, so we could maybe eat the noodles. The rice was also not right in the musubi.

Located outside the foodcourt of the Mall, and within eyesight of the Theaters. This place looks promising from the outside! However the place suffers from a very bad layout. Particularly the counter is a couple feet or less from the main door, which makes no sense to me. Its also the same area where orders are handed out. And the same spot where the drink fountain is located at. All but a couple feet away from the door. The Chinese guy behind the counter who works at night is more interested in ringing up sales instead of handing out finished orders. After my order was made it sat there for 10 mins! He was not very attentive or sympathetic. After 15 minutes, a total of 4 customers orders were piling up and the Chinese guy just continued ringing up orders. When he finally got to the back, it took him over 5 minutes to figure the pile of containers on the counter. The gravy on the loco moco was weak and runny, The rice was dry (maybe because it night and they could care less). The mac salad was good tho. The Kalua Pork tasted more like water than pork. Prices are higher than what it should be, plus you get more rice than anything. And rice doesn't cost that much at the supermarket. Ohana's Restaurant is far better than this place. This L & L does not live up to the legacy of its counterparts in the Hawaiian Islands. I have been here twice, and do NOT intend on going back. I've noticed people only ordering the chicken katsu, its probably the only thing they care about making. A friend of mine confirmed that the katsu is what they are knowned for. They are opening a new one in Portland in the future, I hope its not the same owner or the same workers.

Wow, this place has really gone downhill since it opened. Indoor tables are half gone, replaced with tables from outside. Tables, floor, walls all pretty dirty. I'd recommend take out!!!

mexicans working in a hawaiian food joint owned by koreans? that's a formula that spells mexhawkor. which is a longer way of saying SUCK. another thing that's quite transparent is that Deep Fried Previously Frozen Food + Rice + Macaroni & Mayo should not equal regular food prices. Yet again, mexhawkor.

We were not impressed. Food was over priced, service was barely mediocre and I have had better Hawaiian food closer to home. This was our first and last visit. And we had a coupon!

Um.....so Ive never had Hawaiian Barbeque there for I don't know how this place would compare to the real deal. We tried this place on a whim and was not disappointed. We ordered the number 15, mini order and it came with rice, macaroni salad and decent sized order of BBQ chicken. Great taste and if you're in the mood to try something different then I say try this place. The fries are crinkle cut which we've missed and when in the Beaverton area, we will definitely give this place another go. Keep in mind that if you are paying with a credit card they ask that it be over $5 dollars minimum.
