My wife and I are regulars at all of the best known Lebanese restaurants throughout Portland, and I am telling you right now this little Lebanese deli on Cedar Hills Blvd makes the best Lebanese food in the greater Portland metropolitan area. Do not be fooled by the location of this little deli. Sure, Karam's not located on some trendy Southeast Portland commercial thoroughfare like Hawthorne, Division or Grand. But if it's was- take a seat, Nicholas! You can really taste the passion in the food here. The family that owns and operates this deli take unbelievable pride in their food, and it shows in the complexity and authenticity of the flavors. If you need to purchase hummus or any of the traditional Lebanese fare stop by and peruse their glass display case full of some of my favorite foods. And don't forget their dessert case. There baklava puts most others to shame in my opinion. And the DOLMAS, baby!!! One of my top five favorite foods: stuffed grape leaves. They have the best in town. I am so glad I found this place. I live on the complete opposite side of town but thankfully I drive a truck for a living and this part of town so happens to be my route.

So I read reviews and they make me think this place should be brilliant. Our family, like several other reviewers, frequents Lebanese restaurants all over Portland. So we stop in to try Karam, and all I keep thinking is "why?" It could be because we came at 5:30pm on a Sunday. I think we woke the 3 employees up. I order a Hummus and they just give us a plate of hummus. They didn't offer any bread or chips to go with it, did they expect me to just dig in with a spoon? I ask for a pita and they pull cold ones out of a bag on the back of the counter and get them up so they were tough and kind of chewy/soggy. Then we looked over the smallish menu for our dinner choices and they are out of some things (which I guess happens but it's not like they were having a rush - we were the only customers to be seen). We got three sandwiches: lamb shawarma, chicken shawarma, and Kafta. They were *OK* but nothing spectacular. The employees kind of milled around like they were wondering what to do. All in all maybe it was just this experience - maybe we will give it another try and see if it is any better. But right now I give it a good solid "meh" and I would probably just drive right past on my way in to Portland to better Lebanese food. If we come back and it's any better I will update my review, but as it stands there is nothing interesting at all here...

Finally a great Lebanese place on the west side! We had chicken shawarma plate, which was fabulous over hummus, chicken kabobs with rice, which my kids are every last bite, and the meatless dolmas were the best I have ever tasted. Each of my boys ate an order of dolmas because they "were so good!", so I had to order a 3rd just so I could have some! The service was friendly and very accommodating. Only suggestion i would make is to add a small clean up area/ table to put dishes as we finish with them to make room for more plates of yummy food. So glad to have this little jem on the west side! Will definitely be back!

I went here an hour before closing on a Saturday after having gotten a coupon for a free cashew baklava at a grocery store tasting event Karam participated in. Walked in from the freezing November winds to see flame in the wood oven which seemed like a promising and welcoming sign of quality food, so decided to order a falafel sandwich and eat it there at the deli. I was immediately disappointed, however, when I saw the server take cold, pre-cooked falafel out of the deli case and stick it in the microwave for my sandwich. It seemed to me that frying fresh falafel in some hot oil would not be that difficult or take very long and that the microwave seems to me like a somewhat lazy way to make a falafel sandwich. I might do it that way at home if I was in a rush, but would hope for better from a restaurant. I was the only customer other than two people who were already eating, so it wasn't like they were crushed for time. I would have much preferred to have waited for freshly cooked falafel. The sandwich tasted okay but was not exceptional compared to others I've had in the area. The cashew baklava did not taste very cashew to me -- there were small crushed nuts inside but the main taste was honey and none of that distinctive cashew taste came through. It seemed like a smaller piece of baklava than I'm used to getting as well -- about the size of a pinky finger. But given that it was free I won't complain about that! In addition to the microwaving of the falafel, it also seemed a bit lazy that three or four of the tables around me had dirty plates (well, plastic baskets, crumpled paper, and soda cans) on them from customers who were no longer in the restaurant (no cars were leaving when I arrived, so they must have been there awhile). By the time I finished, the server had cleared one or two of the tables but two of them still had dirty plates on them. Not sure why it was taking him so long to clear them off. It just seemed to me that given how competitive the food industry is, a place like this should try a little harder to make the experience something special so that customers are eager to return. Maybe microwaving falafel is a normal industry practice that I wasn't aware of; I just know that they cook it fresh for me every time at a falafel place elsewhere in town -- maybe I'm spoiled. I would not return here, myself.

Finally! A decent deli/lunch location in Beaverton that serves food that is fresh, very tasty and I can feel good about eating. There is something for everyone. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, meat, breads. I have a lot of food allergies and unless I know just what is in the food, I won't even try to eat it. Karam will gladly tell you what is in everything they prepare, and with pride. It's obviously fresh and they manage to provide subtle flavors that delight without overwhelming. This makes me happy as too often, flavor and/or "heat" can be overdone with ethnic foods, burning my taste buds and stomach. This is an excellent alternative to many days when you just can't take another heavy, fatty or overwhelmingly large lunch. I had the chicken shawarma and it was everything I hoped for. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes. Oh, they also provide samples, just in case you aren't sure which items are going to be to your own taste. Nice!

Excellent food. Very fresh and tasty with friendly staff. We had the vegetarian sampler and chicken kabobs. Both were wonderful. They were also very nice to our kids and gave our son a cookie before we left (with our permission). We will be back!

The first thing I tried was Lamb Shwarma Pita sandwich. It couldn't have been any fresher or more delicious! Couple days later my wife brought home at my request a falafel sandwich. The pita, sauce and falafels were absolute perfection. The price is no more than one would pay at a fast food drive thru, buy why would you buy mediocre corporate fast food when you can have high quality nourishing food from a family owned business? The baklava was without a doubt the best I've ever had. The hint of rose water was delightful! I already feel like a regular at this place. Going to tell all my friends to eat there because I want them to have success and be around to enjoy for many years to come!

Probably the best Mediterranean restaurant in Beaverton. Love their home made pita, hummus, and lamb shawarma. Also, they have a really good hazelnut cake. The owner (at least I think it was the owner) is a really nice guy. We've seen him there a couple times and it seems to be a really great family type of restaurant.

Didn't love this place. Three of us went for dinner. One of us received his entree, then about five minutes later the second one came, and then about five minutes later the third showed up. Also, of the four tables inside, two were occupied by people doing business rather than eating. Food was pretty good however.

Tasty falafel sandwiches, tahini sauce is good, the toum (garlic sauce) is fresh and a good addition to any sandwich. Found their hummus at zupan's today (artichoke/spinach tasty!) .Small menu (wish it were on the wall, rather than right above the register). Sweet family running the place: Momma who prepares most of the food from scratch came over then offered to give us a taste of the lentil soup. I'll be bringing friends for a treat (and a gander at the desserts). Good hospitality!

If I were to rate on services only, I'd give this place 5 star - The girl who was helping me with dessert was pleasant and nice enough to explain every dessert I was pointing/drooling with such patience. Along with several sweet goodies, I also bought some grape leaves, a teeny spinach pocket thingy and baba ganoush and rushed home as I couldn't wait to taste them. Well... I did like the dessert was not cloyingly sweet (the one with powder sugar did send the sweetness over the edge, the bad edge...), but overall, I truly didn't feel they lived up to their price (each was like $4.75 and they are small). I liked the taste fine, but didn't wow me in any sense and I had fully expected something that cost $5 to be somewhat "wow! shut the front door!" level. Same goes for the food. They were all A-okay, but for me, I've had better elsewhere. Oh btw, I was excited about hazelnut baklava and asked them (even mentioned Yelp review) and I was told, "No, that was a mistake. We've never made and we don't ever make baklava with hazelnut; that would taste weird. It's always been with cashews and walnuts." I don't eat walnuts, so that's that... sigh.

The best lamb I have ever had! This is fantastic Lebanese cuisine! I have eaten Lebanese food around the world, and this restaurant is at the top of the list in food taste. We had the chicken, and lamb with delicious rice, hummus, and tabbouleh. It was so fresh and flavorful. The labneh and babbaganoush were perfect. I highly recommend the food here. We will be ordering from here again this week. Can't wait to order again. We got take out. Update 9/4/15- went inside to check out the place. It has a wonderful bakery. I tried the fresh strawberry lemonade which was so refreshing, fragrant, and delicious. I think they add rosewater to it. It is the best lemonade ever. I got an assortment of their cookies that were flavorful.

Tried this place as part of my new quest for a good falafel sandwich in PDX, after two strike-outs. Of the three I have tried so far, this one was by far the best. I like that it was entirely rolled up and served in paper, while the other two were hard to maneuver, needed a fork at first. The way they did it here makes it easier to eat and the sauce distributes itself well among the components of the sandwich. The falafels had a pleasant texture and were moist on the inside. Tasty, too. The fixings on the sandwich were good and the sauce was pleasant. Service was fast and pleasant, giving me my food in about 20% of the time of the last place. Very good, will be back.

This is THE spot for the BEST hummus and assorted Lebanese/Mid-Eastern Food!!! They are also very friendly and obviously take great pride in their products which are all house made, from scratch, at the very same location! There's also a great selection of Vegan choices!

I really like this place. My favorite thing to get is the lamb shawarma sandwich. The meat combo is also really good. I will say that my husband (who doesn't like lamb, so will only eat the chicken here) isn't a fan. That said this is definitely a go to lunch place for me. As for the dessert, the baklava is awesome. The other desserts are pretty good. Not all of them are to my taste, but it is nice to see a different dessert selection than you find in other places around town.

We got a Groupon for the chicken schwarma mezza platter. It easily filled the two of us up with some to spare! The staff were great with no hints of condescending about the Groupon. Food was ready for pickup when promised. A great mix of food provided us the opportunity to sample a bit of everything. The real hits were the chicken, the grape leaves, the hummus, and the tabulah. Everything was intriguing if not delicious and we will be back!

My second time here. Came for dinner with the hubby. Got a great groupon deal for the chicken shawarma with a mezza plate of 2 falafels, 2 dohlmas, 2 flavors of humus, pita, rice/lentil dish. The order was quite big so we shared it and ordered extra spanakopita and desserts bahklava and whisky chocolate balls. Everything was good. I especially liked the sun dried tomato hummus. The server was also very kind and helpful. We will surely be back. :)

Fantastic place!!! I use to cater at a Lebanese and Sudanese restaurant in Philadelphia. Ever since I resigned I always make an effort to look for a good Mediterranean place every place we've lived. This is now my place for the Portland area. Excellent staff, fresh pita, cool place and close to other places you may need to run errands at. This is truly a nice place!

I've purchased their hummus at Natural Grocers and loved it. Tonight, the hubby and I decided to try the deli for dinner. I couldn't decide what to get, so I got the grande veggie plate, and my husband got the meat combo platter. The hummus and tabbouleh were amazing. The falafel was tasty. Hot and crispy. Also on the plate was a rice-lentil item, and roasted cauliflower. Both good. My husband said he enjoyed the shawarma. We also had a pastry - I enjoyed half a passion fruit chocolate dacquoise and my husband had a mango coconut tropical cake. Portions were sized nicely so we were not stuffed. I deducted one star because three of the tables still had dirty plates with a couple flies that sat there for quite awhile before they were taken and the tables cleaned. It wasn't busy, so it would have been nice to have them cleared sooner.

Great deli! So impressed by the great customer service, friendly staff and wonderful fresh lebanese food. Met the owner and he suggested I go to his brothers restaurant down town, Zaatar. My husband and I have taken my brother and his girlfriend and we finished our Mezza plates!

I came here and had an OK experience about 4 months ago. Last week, I decide to take the family. We got there there was only one other couple. No great rush. It took about 20 minutes for the employees to understand very simple order of mezes and two shawarmas. The food was presented to us on dessert size plastic plates with no utensil of any kind, no bread, no drinks. We had to ask for the simple amenities. Everything about the place smelled like business gone bad, employees waiting for the ship to sink and owners not interested. Don't go there. Food wasn't even good and 40 bucks so little too much for that.

Karam Lebanese Deli & Catering is a beautiful spot near the Beaverton Bed, Bath, & Beyond store. Karam offers a limited amount of indoor seating and is a wonderful place for ordering take-out food. If I owned Karam I would rename it "Lebanese Deli, Catering, and Bakery. The baked goods here are extraordinary. If you've never had fresh baked pita bread before then you're in for a real treat. In addition to pita bread Karam Lebanese Deli & Catering also offers items like baklava, chocolate cake, cookies, and tarts. Karam is a fantastic place to enjoy dessert. The deli menu offers items like kabobs, soups, salads, sandwiches, hummus, and Chicken Shawarma. Karam Lebanese Deli & Catering also has quite a few vegan and gluten free selections. The prices are very fair. Many of the entrees are below $10 and a slice of chocolate cake will run you about $4.75. Special mention needs to be made of the service. My dinner companion needed a toothpick. The guy at the cash register didn't have one so he broke off the end of a kabob skewer for my friend to use. How's that for personalized service? The man quickly made note that his deli needed to order toothpicks. By golly, Karam Lebanese Deli & Catering is trying really hard! Keep an eye on Karam Lebanese Deli & Catering. It's a bright new star in Beaverton's fine dining scene that I predict is going to go far!

Finally found a good falafel place in town! We went in right before closing and still got fresh pita. We ordered falafel sandwiches- perfect portion size for 1 (hungry) person! Their dessert selection is huge too!! We ordered baklavas- good portion size and very delicious! Give the place a shot- I'm sure you won't be disappointed We found our go to place for falafels and baklava in town!! Can't wait to try out more options here

So my 12 year old loves Mediterranean food. (Oh ok. Me too). Today she asked for stuffed grape leaves ( aka dolmades), schwarma, and tabouleh. I got them here. Also hummus, falafel, pita, and a Greek salad. I started out with the bearded young man at the counter and a menu. I told him I needed to put dinner together and he gestured to the deli counter and passed me off to a friendly woman who filled my order from the counter. She directed me back to him at the end and he said "anything else?" And I added the salad and schwarma. Those weren't available in the deli counter. She made the salad quickly and got rice out of a big rice cooker. I did not see where the schwarma came from. Im thinking maybe a microwave or it was in kitchen in back. I was in and out in a short period of time. $48 plus I left a $10 tip. We had plenty for three and lots of leftovers. It's Grimm night, Princess' uncle joins us for dinner and Wesen. The verdict? We'd have liked warm falafel ( we like it deep fried kinda crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, this wasn't). If I'd ordered it from menu instead of out of the case it might have been more like that. It was dense and grainy/chunky with chickpeas. We like our grape leaves warm too. These were cold and had a sweet and sour taste. Princess said they were weirdly sticky. Hummus and pita were spot on. Tabouleh and salad were delish.Fresh tasting. The schwarma was ok. It had good flavors. I probably wouldn't get it again, the chicken was in small pieces and I'm used to strips. Princess said she liked it. She had big helpings of tabouleh and schwarma. There are beautiful and delicious looking pastries. I ran from them. ( cutting back on sugar). But if you go, get some baklava. Its rocking. I can tell. Oasis is still our go to for Mediterranean. But this is good too, especially for takeout. We spent roughly the same amount at both places. Try Karam....just have the falafel heated up.

What amazing food! An Israeli-American friend introduced me to this place saying I had to try it. I was very happy I did. Excellent selection and friendly people, plus deeply delicious and authentic Middle Eastern selections. I've told others and now I'm telling you: Go! It's simply superb.

Absolutely delicious. I eat from Mediterranean places from all over the Portland metro area. This is in my opinion the BEST of them all. The food is the best as well as the service, facility, and price/portion ratio is perfect. They also have a mouth watering bakery. Top notch!!! Highly recommend!!!!

We were extremely disappointed with our experience here. Our orders were not correct. Items that we ordered were left out and we had to come back to get them. Our portions were tiny compared to every other Lebanese restaurant that we have been to while the prices were right on par with everywhere else. I cannot say that the food was all that wonderful either. It was mediocre at best. My best guess is, given everyone else's reviews, that they were having an off day. However, I will not be back to give them another try. There are far too many people in the Portland area that offer better food the first time at the same or better prices. I hope that this was just an off day for Karam Lebanese Deli & Catering.

So not super impressed and bummed about it. We live near by and wanted to love it. The good: Tasty meats and labne. Very nice beef Kibbe Really nice staff on a Sunday afternoon, super polite not really with it (had to ask for basics), but hey, it's a deli with seating... so... The "meh": humus was bland to my taste, which bummed me out. Was looking forward to excellent hummus! Pita had strong raw flour taste and wasn't warm enough when served. Small portions, small plates for the money. This isn't Nicholas, definitely... Happy dining!

FINALLY a great Lebanese place in Beaverton! Friendly staff, great selection of dine in or take away. Fresh steaming hot pita breads only enhance the flavors of the foods. Baba Ghannouj, Baleela and the stuffed grape leaves are particularly good. I've stayed away from their bakery thus far but the display looks like bakery art. Great lunches reasonably priced. We do like Karam's.

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience here. The food is amazing and the staff are beyond words kind. I waited for 45 minutes for a lunch date and the staff were incredibly kind to me while I waited, and hadn't ordered. I was treated with the highest level of compassion and kindness of any establishment I have been to recently. And did I mention the food is amazing? Seriously, you won't regret the decision.

Talk about a reason to visit Beaverton! Maybe the Best attraction west of the hills! Price is more than your typical cafe would be, but the meat is antibiotic free, which is not typical of cafés. The owners run this place with excellent hospitality. If the fact that this is a family run business doesn't woo you, their in house French desserts should make you swoon! I had hummus with pita bread, labne, lamb shawarma, and baklava. The pita bread is made in their (wood?) oven and is wonderful on its own. I am not much of a hummus eater but theirs puts store bought to shame. The labne has texture that commands respect. The lamb shawarma was a pinch small, but well packed and delightful in flavor. The baklava will ruin your taste buds. Be prepared to never like another baklava again! The mini one is a hazelnut baklava, a little different than the traditional walnut one, which they also have. Will I be back? Yes, with numbers too! Recommend the mini baklava

Went out for lunch today and needed a great place to grab a bite and study. This place is going to be on my top ten favorites list. 1. Excellent customer service 2. Willing to answer questions about there menu and extremely knowledgeable. 3. Food was extremely fresh and hot. 4. Impeccably clean. 5. Best ingredients, you can tell that they source great ingredients. 6. Deserts are amazing. Had a piece of sponge cake that was fruit filled with chocolate shavings on top with a cup of coffee. Couldn't have been better. Highly recommend a visit to this family owned business.

I've been here twice. Both times I ordered the Veggie Combo (tabouleh, hummus, mihshi (stuffed grape leaves) and falafels. The first time I ate there. The staff was great and the food arrived quickly. Everything was wonderful. The hummus was not fancy but fresh and very good. The mihshi was the best I have ever eaten. The falafels were crisp and golden on the outside and luxuriously warm on the inside - absolutely amazing. My second trip, I ordered it to go. It arrived even quicker than the first - this was my clue. After a quick 10 minute trip home. I opened it to find cool, dark brown and oily falafels - they tasted like what I can only describe as "day old" or store bought - definitely not fresh. The hummus had a distinct and unpleasant bitter after taste - not sure what that was about. Everything was good. I also splurged on this trip and picked up a piece of their Al Humbra cake - absolutely amazing!! I'm a bit leery about ording takeout again, but it was so good my first trip - I will be back.

We got food delivered through DDish. We got the Veggie Combo and the Chicken Shawarma sandwich. The Veggie Combo was kinda bland. The hummus had a nice, thick, texture. The falafels had a weird texture to them. The pita bread wasn't anything impressive. The sandwich was really good. The only complaint is that the juice from the tomatoes and some of the sauce leaked out the bottom, but I"m assuming this would have not have happened had I eaten at the restaurant. Flavor was really good. It was a good size and would make a perfect lunch. The baklava was amazing! I'd definitely go back just for that. The philo dough was really flaky and crispy. The pistachio mix wasn't in a few thin, really finely ground layers. The way Karam does it is in one bigger layer, with larger chunks and it works really well. It's the best baklava in the Beaverton area

What can I say... The food is excellent, service is great and prices are a steal. My man and I go here at least once a month for baba ganoush, hummus and what I consider the best falafel I've ever had. (And I've tasted quite a few falafel recipes in my day!) I can't speak for their pastries, we don't have sweet tooths in the house so have never sampled their baked goods. I would highly recommend this place, it's amazing.

An excellent addition to the Beaverton area, Karam brings authentic Lebanese food & beverage delights. The hummus and garlic sauce are fantastic! Other goodies include kibbeh, faster, Turkish coffee and an amazing array of desserts. To name a few! Recommendation to management: Bus tables regularly, heat the concrete space and become more customer service oriented. You have fabulous products, but without good customer service/experience you won't earn repeat visits.

Finally another great restaurant choice in the area. I ordered the chicken kabob plate to share with my 3 yr old. We both loved it. It comes with a tahini sauce on the side. Chicken cooked well. Delicious pita bread. They spoiled my daughter and I by letting us try fresh baked Petite fours. Save room for dessert or go there just for dessert.

Very friendly service which is so important in my book. Great with kids and really made dining easy there for me with them. The food is delicious and nutritious. My kids love the chicken kabob and rice. So much healthier than other options. The food is across the board delicious. They often throw in a cookie or two for the kids. Wonderful place for lunch or dinner.

Great! This was my first visit to this version of Karam and it lived up to the high standards set by the other Karams in Portland. The owners of this place use to own Karam (and the old Long Island Pizza) in downtown Portland where they set the standard for Lebanese food in Portland, at least in this half Lebanese's opinion. Those places are now owned by others (and Karam in downtown continues to have excellent food), and Karam in Beaverton is upholding the name well. I tried the hummus, tabouli and chicken kabobs, along with the fresh out of the oven Arabic bread. All were excellent. The hummus was creamy and tasty. The tabouli was fresh--too often tabouli in restaurants is soggy from sitting too long in the lemon juice and olive oil dressing--and seasoned just the way my mother made her best in the world tabouli! The chicken kabob was moist and tasty. Thanks for a great meal, Karam!

The best flavors and spices! We get the hummus plate and chicken shawarma every time! We come for anniversaries, birthdays and just good food! If you haven't had lebanese food before, you will fall in love with Karam.

We went there quite often but not anymore. It is hard to pay sit down money for things pulled out of a deli counter. The food is fine, the staff is fine but the value just is not there.

Granted we only got desserts ... Not cheap ... Got 4 little tiny baklava pieces and one chocolate dome ... It came out to about $10 ... Wasn't much better than Freddy's but cost twice as much. Don't get me wrong ... I love baklava and chocolate and it was yummy but didn't blow my mind or anything ... And for a restaurant marked as cheap really expected more food for the money ya know :0)

This place is awesome. Try warmed Baklava, it melts in your mouth. The Baba Ghanooj on Pita was yummy. And yes, I agree with Patrick G. The Lamb Shwarma was delicious.
