Had the lunch buffet. Everything was fresh. The carrot dessert was delicious!

I had the Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan -- both were excellent. It was better than some of the Indian food I had in England, which is known for first class Indian food. I wish I could have tried more things, but I was dining alone and had only the one dish. The service was fast, then a bit lax after the food was served, but there was nothing to correct; the food was delicious. If the food is great I'll forgive almost anything. I'm not sure why some reviewers are giving this place a low rating, but a local friend told me that the restaurant has changed hands. Maybe the older reviews were for the place under the previous management.

This is one of my favorite Indian buffets. I visit this place whenever I start missing Indian food. I love their choices like pakoras, vadas, the biriyani, tandoori chicken and the chicken gravy dish. They also have the Andrea style chicken gravy which is unlike the usual cream based gravies and being South Indian I dig that gravy a lot. I tend to overeat at this Buffett and hence visits are very sporadic. Still this is one of the good buffets in Portland.

We really enjoyed our dinner tonight. It was our first visit to India Flavors. My dining partner ordered the sampler kind of meal with vegetarian dishes. She picked a cauliflower and potato dish called Aloo Gobi as her main entree. I had the meat version with Goat Curry as the pick. All the flavors melded nicely and the dishes tasted fresh. Even the Mango lassi was strong on fresh mango. Our server was very helpful in answering our many questions. Looking forward to returning for their Lunch buffet.

It was a dark and stormy night....and the restaurant was COLD. Roger had researched Yelp and chosen this restaurant--based on the reviews--for my birthday dinner and invited friends. We were embarrassed over both the quality of food and the service. I love sag paneer and always order it (spinach with cheese cubes). It arrived and was flavorless, as though some essential ingredient/s had been forgotten--herbs, salt, oil? As the bowl sat beside my plate a watery gray liquid developed on top. Totally unappetizing. The other 3 entrees were acceptable but unremarkable. At dessert time several of us chose different desserts from the menu but they were unavailable. Our waiter shared the information that the desserts are created for the lunch buffet. When there are no leftovers, then no desserts are available. One of the desserts on the menu is NEVER available. I settled for a mango mousse and it tasted fine. No coffee was available. The chai tea wasn't tasty. As my dessert was presented, I had to ask the waiter to remove my dinner plate. He did not ask why my sag paneer was virtually untouched. He never cleared the other three dinner plates during the time two of us ate dessert--actually never cleared them away while we were in the restaurant. We are long time Yelp followers and contributors, but we were led astray this time. We will continue to use Yelp, but would NEVER visit this restaurant.

Restaurant is not clean , portion for to go is not enough served. I have order evening dinner time vegetable paying around $10 and the quantity was too less like have cold stone Love it size. Asking the owner about the portion the South Indian lady start arguing . Totally not recommended for Dinner.

So so so good. We had the saag paneer and lamb curry. Both were amazing. Emanuel walked us through everything explaining flavors and portions and spice level. We will definitely be back.

I returned on a weekend for their buffet lunch. They offered a wide selection of dishes and my favorite was Masala Dosa, which went very well with their coconut, mint, and tamarind-based chutneys. A well made Dosa is a special treat, and it is really hard to ferment the dosa batter in the winter months. Very well done!

I went here with my grandma and sister, yesterday. When we arrived we were immediately seated and we quickly ordered our food and drinks. I ordered the non-vegetarian goat curry thali. The thali was a little bit of everything on a plate. It gave you dessert, soup, curry, dal, pickles, and much more. It was like a feast on a plate. While waiting I ordered the mango milkshake, and it was almost too sweet, earlier I had looked at their dessert section and there was a choice of mango mousse. The milkshake was as thick as a mousse I almost believed they just put the dessert in my glass. I was happy and grateful when the waiter brought papadums [ very thin caraway crackers] and some sauce. Even without the sauce the papadum was fragrant and carried a delicious nutty flavor. When our thali came out I was surprised on the spice. I had the spice level at medium, but still my mouth was hot and the raita [yogurt sauce] cooled the heat down. I had to get a takeout box to take half my meal home. It was plenty of food, it could serve 2 or 3 people. The only concerns I have is the service was a bit slow, and I would understand if the place was booked but it wasn't. It was almost like the waiter forgot about us. Overall it was a very good and satisfied my craving for indian food.

I have tried India Flavors twice and have been impressed both times. I love their "butter" chicken. The sauce was spicy with just a little heat. The Naan is wonderful!

This is for sunday lunch buffet. 1st off i was hungry and i purposefuly skipped breakfast. In order to be hungry for a buffet. I chose india flavors because of all the 4 and 5 star reviews. For me this place was just ok i would not go out of my way to come here. Being a vegetarian their were mot many choices, perhaps three or four, and they were all very typical but nothing exciting or fresh;especially for a weekend buffet. i was hoping for anything, delicious healthy and flavourful. But i was dissappointed. their were only a few veggie items and they were all your very basic food you'll see at all indian buffets. All of the items tasted fine, i wish they were a bit more spicy. So i went over to get some chutney wanting to give some kick to my food so i chose mint chutney and i was dissappointed it was not fresh at all. The colour was like an over cooked pea soup green, and it tasted blah. Their was nothing on the buffet that got me excited or would make me want to come back for more. I couldnt find any lentils in the lentil soup. The only salad they had was a cucum ber salad which was a very nice salad, probably the highlight of the whole buffet. After experiencing india flavors, im left wondering why all of the 4 and 5 star reviews. What am i missing? the owner or manager was attentive and firendly on that ill give 4 or 5 stars. But as for the food no, i was really wanting to like this place. The price of $11.95 way over priced for such a small buffet. Ive been to similar buffets and paid under 10dollars with a lot more choices and better, more flavourful food. If they improved the food and offered more choices on the buffet, i could see myself giving india flavors another try. for now i wont be returning any time soon. Its a total no go for me.

Hidden away near the SW Walker Rd Fred Meyer plaza is this little gem, that IMHO has one of the better Indian buffets on the west side of town, rivaling Chennai Masala's. I visited late on a Monday (a slow time), so I hesitated trying it out, but I asked the server to allow to look over the buffet first before sitting down. After seeing that it still well-stocked, I was then pleased to find some very solidly executed dishes there, and it was definitely appreciated that they continued to diligently restock the buffet as needed. I liked that they also had dosas, which I'm told are available almost every day at the buffet, in addition to naan (which theirs was done well). Their Chicken Makhani (butter chicken) and another vegetarian dish with creamy tomato curry were definitely standouts. They had a depth of flavor that I would normally associated with ordering a la carte dishes, and they were also very rich as they were thickened with lots of cream and butter -- to the point I'd say that a French chef would likely approve. I discovered that they had recently celebrated their 4 year anniversary (I only recently found out about this place), but you can tell they are keen about keeping up their quality, and also asking their customers for feedback.

Just as there is a large number of Ethiopian eats in a small geographic area in North Portland (happy for the denizens of No-Po), there is a notably large number of Indian eats scattered within a few square miles straddling Hillsboro-Beaverton. Just as I've had very few bad burritos from the numerous taco carts littering the cosmic radar, I've had very few bad Indian Meals as well--- so few in fact that I can't remember a specific example of any. What I encountered @ India Flavors is about as close as I've yet come to an outright "Thanks, but no thanks." The place was a little run-down and grubby, no doubt about it. You could hear people busily clattering around in the back and the cuisinarts going off w/regularity, but Lordy did these folks tarrie, when it came to refilling any of the buffet trays--especially those w/any meat in them. The Tandori chicken and the Lamb Vindaloo they never did re-fill while we were there, and they were completely empty. If volume of patrons is any sign of the quality of a place/product, then it may be telling, that this has been the most sparsely populated Indian place I've yet been to in the boro. I've never been to Swagath, for example, or Chennai Massala, or even Lentil Garden, when they were rocking and rolling w/patrons---most of them, additionally, in each case, were non-caucasians. In that respect, India Flavors was the most "democratic, if sparsely populated" gold-medal winner. It may be that the good folks owning/operating India Flavors have fallen upon hard times, and it has effected both their quality, and their business. I wish them well, though I can't imagine going out of my way to come back again to this place, unless *I* have fallen upon some pretty grievous hard times...

Indian restaurant in the Fred Meyer shopping center. Service was very good, he was very helpful. Vegetable somosa most was very good. Breadbasket is definitely worth the price. Chicken tikka masala was too creamy. This place is definitely more south Indian cuisine.

India Flavors is a very aptly named restaurant. This place can indeed serve up some very delicious and flavorful Indian dishes. India Flavors is actually the latest Indian restaurant to occupy this former Skipper's location. Good thing I like sitar music because I had to listen to quite a bit of it before anyone at India Flavors figured out that we wanted to order some food. Our service for the evening was totally absent minded and slow. The menu, on the other hand is actually quite good. India Flavors offers a very well laid out and organized menu. Vegetarian items are clearly marked and separated from the meat dishes. Most of the entrées hover around $11.95 and include a generous helping of basmati rice. India Flavors offers four types of Naan (Indian flat bread.) The best way to go is to order the bread basket. Ordering the bread basket lets you sample three types of Naan, costs only $5, and gives you a generous helping of Naan with your meal. On our visit we sampled Vegetable Samosas, Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken), and Chicken Saag (Chicken cooked with spinach). All three dishes were savory and delicious. India Flavors' Butter Chicken is one of the best versions of this classic Indian dish in the Portland area. India Flavors can serve up some very flavorful and delicious Indian food. I'll cut them some slack for the sub par service because my server was young and so is India Flavors restaurant. However, I will deduct two stars because I had to sit through way too many sitar ragas to order my food and to pay for my food. Improve the service and India Flavors can become one of the best Indian restaurants in the Portland area.

I don't have Indian very much but my dad is VERY picky and he likes it. The butter naan and fruit stuffed naan is great. Good tikka masala!

Lunch buffet is better than the previous owner's. They also have a good variety of food and appetizers. I also like their limited food takeaway lunchbox option. Its enough for a weekday. Their food quality is pretty good. Where they could improve is speed on serving dinner. They are pretty slow in that respect. But overall its a good place to eat and I hope they continue to maintain these standards.

This place is tucked away in Beaverton, but it's the best place in my mind for biryiani. I recommend the lamb because they do it well. The lamb is not overly cooked and tough like I've had in some places. This place also isn't crowded like other Indian restaurants on the west side either.

So first visit the samosas were about a 4, and the mango lassi was a 1,.. however the chicken vindaloo was very good which brought me back....my second visit everything was a 5.. samosas, naan, chicken tikka massala

If I had visited this place purely on outside looks, I probably wouldn't have gone. It's tucked away in the corner of a Fred Meyer parking lot...and generally looks pretty empty. However since I lived so close I decided to give it a try. The first few times I just ordered take-out... and wow the food was great. Really really amazing flavors and ready in about 10-15 min. Finally ended up dining in and the service wasn't the best, they had music playing at first and then they either turned it off or it ended and for the rest of our meal we just heard the cook(s) chopping away in the kitchen which was a bit awkward. Our waiter had on a ninja turtles hat.... which I'm not sure I should give points or take away for?? BUT... once again the food was amazingggg. They even served flat bread (not naan, more like a wafer type thing) with two different chutneys while you wait for your dishes. We ordered appetizers as well, and everything... while not quick, was timed decently. But all that aside I'll definitely be going back for the amazing food... so so great! Also... I have not tried the buffet AND.... just a heads up, mild was definitely spicy enough for me.

This place was absolutely spot on friggin' fantastic. What a delight too that it's so close to home. The previous Indian restaurant here was not that good so don't get them confused, this place is new and it's GOOD! My go to dish is always Chicken Tikka Masala and this was one of the best I've had. The chicken was tender perfectly cooked, not like some places where you wonder how old it is (Swaggat) and the sauce was sweet and still savory. Plenty of delicious Naan for dipping. We also ordered some spicy lentil dish and that was tasty too. Nice surprise gotta love that, and I will return for sure!

We recently moved to this neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. We went here for dinner. The taste was good and I was loving my food. My husband was sick, so he ordered the normal pesarattu instead of the masala pesarattu. After the long wait, he got the pesarattu with the masala. He politely called the waiter and said he had the wrong order. When the waiter went in and asked the lady who prepared the order, she was very RUDE and shouted "why cant they take out the masala and eat". We were shocked by the way the lady responded. The poor waiter apologized to us, but the lady did not even care to apologize for her behavior. Will never ever go back to this place.

I was expecting something more from this place. Indian cuisine is spectacular buy unfortunately they didn't take advantage of that. It is OK for something quick though.

I have been coming here for a year now...the chicken makhani/butter chicken is so good that I get cravings for it. The garlic naan and chicken makhani/butter chicken is an amazing combination that just makes any bad day a good day. Something that has been consistent is the terrible service...I think out of all the times I have come here, I have had good service twice. I'm not sure why they don't fix this. I would just get your food to-go...then you can enjoy the great food minus any potential service problems. I highly recommend for the food alone though.

Initially not sure what to expect: something new or just a recycled "mayuri" which was close to the worst Indian restaurant in the world. I was surprised it lasted as long as it did. India Flavors did not disappoint. completely remodeled, the only thing in common with its predecessor is the physical address. We enjoyed Dosas, Andhra Chicken Curry ( perfect flavor spice combo), Chicken Biryiani. We probably took as much home as we ate. The presentation is lovely, the servers were very attentive and knowledgable about all the dishes. Having spent some time in India, and having fallen in love with the food, i can say this is as authentic as it gets. It wont take long before the local Indian population finds and loves this place like i do.

A reliable source told us we should try India Flavors so my husband and I had dinner there with our friends and their two children (13 and 8). The restaurant smelled so good inside and we were seated right away. We had a few vegetarian dishes as well as the Chicken Marsala which were all delicious. The Tikka Chicken took 20 minutes longer to grill but it was definitely worth the wait - the chicken was very moist and had a nice char - served sizzling hot on a bed of onion and peppers. I think they've named their restaurant well - the sauces were very flavorful. If you don't want spicy food, be sure to ask the staff for suggestions. We completely forgot to ask and the 8 year old couldn't eat her chicken masala - it was way too spicy for her (even though it's a pretty mild spice for adults). Just like most Indian restaurants, the table service was mellow, infrequent and casual. If you need water, you'll want to give a wave. They don't have any comfy booth seating though so it's not a place where you can really sit back and relax - it has a nice interior design and a pleasant atmosphere but it's only the food that reminds you of India. We loved the food and will take friends there again.

Some time ago, I wrote a review for Mayuri, which was the name of this place before new owners took it over. Since that time, I can honestly say that the improvement is not only noticeable, it has completely transformed this restaurant into a definite destination for Indian cuisine! While sacrificing the option for thali dinners as Mayuri had, India Flavors focuses more on composing a rich, hearty and even homey dish that doesn't skimp on seasoning or quality. There are even some not-so-common additions from Southern India on the menu that I will be very interested in trying in the future. Our dosas were probably some of the best that we have ever had, and my wife and mother-in-law (aka my dining party for that evening) know Indian cooking. The masala sauces were rich, and my tandoori mixed platter was succulent beyond belief. Even the shrimp, while smaller than you might expect on a tandoori plate, were heads and shoulders above offerings like Swagat in NW PDX. The truly impressive thing, though, is the service; unlike Mayuri before it, we were seated and our drink orders were taken within seconds. Our waiter was prompt, courteous, and helpful...the Holy Service Trinity. We don't get to Beaverton very often, but now we have two reasons: Tokyo Restaurant and India Flavors!

Delicious! We always go for the lunch buffet. The chicken dishes are mouthwatering, as are the veg. Try the tandoori chicken. It's so good. Clean and well kept restaurant. Ambiance is relaxing. The gulab jamun is just right, not too sweet. A big hit with our family.

Wake up guys, The important part (the food) ... The lamb Biryani was reheated (old). The mix Tendori Platter was horrible except the chicken tikka was not bad. The basmati rice wasn't clean. They should wash it carefully before cooking it. The shrimp is disgusting and dreadful. Friday at 5:30 walked in waited 5 minutes by the door before they recognize that they have customers. They are not used to have people in the resturant. Only one server works as a waiter.

My Five Star Rating is for the food only. I had take out and can no speak to the Service or atmosphere in the restaurant. Tika Masala and Jasmine Rice was FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!!! I hope to have the time to eat at the restaurant and give a more complete review, but for now... 5 stars for the Tika Masala.

  • Sarita S.

I really don't like writing a negative review, in fact this is my first on Yelp. However, since I went to this restaurant after reading other Yelp reviews, I felt I had to weigh in. My husband and I ordered an appetizer, chicken tikka masala, saag chicken, mango lassi, and a sweet nan bread. The lassi and nan were great. Everything else got two mouthfuls eaten and was left unfinished. We eat Indian regularly, so it was not being unaccustomed to Indian food - it was THIS Indian food. The food was bland, tasted slightly burned... just unpleasant.

I thought that this was an excellent restaurant. My boyfriend and I both went here and ordered the vegetable samosas as an appetizer, malai kofta vegetarian entree, and anhora chicken, and garlic naan. We paid just under 30 for the meal which I found to be reasonable given the portion size and and the flavor. The setting was nice and the server and kitchen was prompt.

We decided to check this place out after reading some of the yelp reviews. We decided to be a little cautious and just try a few items off the menu. To start we had the masala papad that had some good chutneys to go with. Our appetizer was the onion pakoras which were crispy and tasty except that there was some garam masala sprinkled over it. Our main course was the Kadai paneer which was also over spiced (I mean heavily to the point of not being able to taste anything else) with the same garam masala. Having the same flavor repeated that way was a disappointment and a little bit annoying as we were assaulted by the same spices with every bite. We did enjoy the bread basket though except that the aloo paratha had a faint eggy flavor to it( a big no no for an Indian restaurant) my suggestion is for the cooks to pay attention to the flavors of ingredients going into the dishes and enhancing them as opposed to masking everything with the dense flavor of garam masala that probably came out of a box. It takes more doing and some finesse but will allow this new place to stand out among others as they're already doing other things pretty well (decor and ambience are nice) which is why they earned 4 stars. Our servers seemed inexperienced but otherwise very polite and pleasant. All said and done I would try this restaurant again.

  • Tory M.

I have been to India Flavors three times, and have not been disappointed yet. The food is spiced perfectly. The chicken tikka, wonderful, the Kofta, delicious, the paneer fabulous, and the best (really) naan I have ever had. The service is spotty; there is a great young man there, but the ladies have been a little inattentive. I haven't had lunch there yet, but will definitely try after reading the earlier review. I hope it succeeds even with its lousy location, because it is a really good place!

India Flavors is a 5 star restaurant in the waiting. It is the best Indian food I have had since crossing back over the Indian Ocean. I would prefer India Flavors to be another hole in the wall sort of joint, but is a nice clean atmosphere really a bad thing? Probably not. My only issue was the service. The chef (I'm guessing owner or partial owner) shouldn't have to bring our food out. rant Our server should have been more on top of things, especially with 3 tables. I am probable being a bit of a snob here, but when I overhear a server recommend a Ninkasi IPA to someone who doesn't know what an IPA is I just cringe. You are working at an Indian place, if someone asks what you recommend say Kingfisher... If they want an IPA they will order it. It would have been nice to have been asked how spicy I like my food as well. Luckily it was spicy aplenty, as I would have ordered it, but a lesser man may have had problems. I understand maybe it was an off night, new server or full moon, but to get this close to heaven and not go in is just a shame. /rant The food here is superb. The chicken tikki masala was exactly what I was hoping my girlfriend would get, and she loved it. I think all I heard for 20 minutes was "I am so full but I don't want to stop eating." The naan wasn't too greasy or hard and the long grain rice was just like I would expect. As authentic as it gets, no utensils necessary. Get someone serving the food that is as passionate as the Lady that cooked ours and this will be the go-to place for authentic Indian food!

A few weeks ago the GF and I went to Fred Meyer's to get some stuff. The parking lot was full and we happened to drive by this restaurant while looking for parking. We promised ourselves we try this place out, well today was the day we tried it. (Dinner Service) A nice little restaurant with pretty good prices. The butter chicken was very good, it was fresh and the chicken almost melts in the mouth. The GF was telling me during dinner that this place is a place that we must return when we can't decide on what to eat. The portions may look small but you can really taste the quality. The service was excellent, fast and attentive. The naan was fluffy and very good and just a little crispy. Other restaurants often have their naan chewy or heavy, often meaning not cooked all the way through. The decor was nice, but it's a bit dark inside, and the music is a bit loud. The salt and pepper shakers are little tiny peas in a pod. It looks nice, but the shakers are dirty and the pods that hold them have salt and pepper on the bottom. Needs to be cleaned a little. It's no big deal really, I'm just detailed. The problem with this place is that I almost never found this place. It's tucked away from the traffic, I almost drove past it and didn't realize the place existed. The sign is very small and it needs to be bigger to get peoples attention. Lots of potential here since there are not many Indian restaurants in the neighborhood. I will come back again!

We went for the lunch buffet. There was a good variety of food, and the dishes were excellent. Don't show up here expecting a lot of ambiance, though. It's more focused on providing authentic dishes. I love that they have a meal plan that one can buy into.

Usually the owners of restaurants behave very nicely with their customers however I found that is not the case here.My husband had been there for a lunch buffet take out. Usually they gave pakoras as an appetizer in the box.(Twice earlier they had given us pakoras which we liked a lot). When he requested the zucchini pakoras he was told by the owner that she is filling out the box as per written instructions. Also, after he mentioned he had them the earlier time, he was told "we give the pakoras just like that" so she cannot provide them which is ridiculous. Also earlier we were given chicken biryani in the box however this particular time they were running out of it so she gave half plain rice and half biryani explaining it by saying we have changed rules and we no longer provide a full biryani. She had already filled out the boxes without informing about this particular 'change of rules'. This response is as if we were asking for food for free.According to me if the so called rules or whatever had changed she could have charged some extra and we would have paid it! Refusing stuff rudely is not expected in the restaurant business. We were a regular here however they have lost a regular customer due to their own disappointing behavior.

Good food. Love it. Diverse selection. Everything from chicken to goat to paneer dishes. They used to bring a hot naan basket to your table, not anymore. I miss that. The naan at the buffet is often hard to chew on. Barring the naan, everything else is good quality. Service is good.

Decided to take a chance on this new restaurant in the FM parking lot and were delighted with our decision! Paneer rolls were a treat (make sure you ask if you want mango chutney) and the samosa's were spicy and crisp. My husband and I split the Saag Paneer and Channa Masala and we both loved the Masala. Unfortunately we felt like the Saag was fairly bland (turns out the chef had spiced it down not knowing we can handle our Indian spices). We decided to order the Chicken Mahkani (Butter Chicken) since we didn't eat the Saag and OMG it was like I'd died and gone to heaven! Best Indian dish I've had at any PDX Indian restaurant. Fantastic! The wait staff was very friendly and the owner came out and chatted with us after our meal. We'll definitely be back!!!

Been here three times now. Buffet is where It's at. Just don't go late, they were out of everything. Although she did offer to make anything I wanted, I wanted a buffet. They are attentive with the drink refills and explain everything about the buffet items. To sum up, not the best but definitely not the worst Indian food in Beaverton.

I've been here a couple of times and I really like the service that you get here. I always get the chicken tikka masala, it's got the right blend of spices, and it's not overpowering. I also like their selection of Indian beers and their desserts. Last time I went I was seated right away, I always look for cleanliness and it was really clean. The waiter was very friendly, we were able to get our drinks and food in a timely manner. I didn't realize that they close at 9 and when it was 9:45pm I looked up and noticed that all the customers were gone, the waiter was so incredibly nice he told me "don't worry about it, I'll be here for a little longer if you guys are not finished". If I was the waiter I would be upset and probably let the customer know that they close at nine, but he was so nice about it. I am definitely coming back here.

This would be a 3.5 star review if Yelp had half stars... There's a lot to like about India Flavors, but my first experience just wasn't quite there for the 4th star. Tandoori chicken was done just right for my tastes- so many places blacken it to the point that the outside is crunchy. Contrary to another reviewer, I found the Chicken Makhani quite good- mild, yes, but very tasty. The mango fruit salad was obviously made with care using fresh fruit- very crisp compared to places that use mushy canned fruit. The cheese was just the right firmness in the Saag Paneer. Everything I tried on the buffet was solid- nothing blew me away, though. Service was quick and very attentive (especially for a lunch buffet). The newly renovated interior is a welcome change from the previous Indian restaurant that was here- open and airy, with comfortable and attractive new tables and chairs. Bonus: it no longer looks like the Skipper's it was two restaurants ago! The only real negative I can share is that the lunch buffet was just a little pricey at $10 compared to other local places, especially when drinks aren't included (as they are at some others). Still, I'm glad to have another good choice for Indian in the neighborhood, and look forward to trying a dinner here soon.

Literally, as good as it gets. This tucked-away palace is exquisite. We had ignored the new guy on the corner long enough and had finally decided to try it out a month ago. I'll begin by saying I am picky with meat, particularly chicken. I can't stand most chicken, but this place cooks it to perfection and has the most incredible curry sauces. Their buffet is plentiful, again, their meats are tasty, their desserts are fab, heck, even their rice is plump and perfect! If you like Indian food, you'll LOVE this place. Guaranteed!

I placed an order to go. I was so excited for SPICY Chicken Tikki Masala. I ordered spicy. The girl wrote "spicy" on my ticket. But it was not spicy at all. There was no spice in fact. It was good texture, nice sauce, tender chicken, but the spice and excitement to taste buds was ZERO. The Aloo Saag had nice spice to it - a little heat. But both dishes were pretty bland. The Garlic Naan didnt even have garlic on it - just cilantro and was gummy and soggy. So, I'm still searching for a place in Portland that can bring on the heat in their Chicken Tikki Masala! I had such high hopes for India Flavors. Darn it.

I love Indian food and am constantly searching for the authentic aromas and flavors from the Sub-Continent whenever I dine out. I have never been misled by reviews on Yelp so I was pretty excited to see the very favorable reviews of the food at India Flavors. And I was not disappointed the food was good. We ordered a Southern India style Chicken curry (Andhra Chicken), a favored standard creamy Saag Paneer, vegi Samosas and a double order of buttery and perfectly fried Naan. The food arrived very quickly which one expects in a nearly empty restaurant and at an Indian place anyway since almost nothing is a la minute. The service however was not very good. Our initial greeting was very pleasant and the woman playing the role of Hostess was swift, friendly and efficient our male waiter however was less than attentive and took an inordinately long time to bring me my post dinner mango shake. I ended up leaving a 10% courtesy tip which I only do if the service is really bad. Usually my 10% rule is reserved for very rude wait staff or truly outrageous service disasters but somehow he engendered that response from me. He was not rude but there was a lot lacking in his service. While the food was good is wasn't great - in fact there are some food carts in PDX serving up Southern Indian fare that surpass India Flavors -however had the service been beyond reproach I have a feeling my review of the food would be much more favorable. The last little hiccup was when I attempted to pay with a $100 bill on a $45 ticket and was told they did not have enough money to change the bill. Considering the restaurant is in the parking lot of a Fred Meyer's they could very easily have ran the 50 yards to the store to get change but instead elected to return my money and request another form of payment. Annoying to be sure and another example of less than pro-active service. Regardless I am going to give them another try as they do a reasonably priced lunch buffet which will not rely as heavily on service. Perhaps then I can dive more fully into the flavors at India Flavors and not be as distracted by the poor service.

First time eating Indian food - had a friend initiate me - it was great... had Vegetable Samosa, Chana Marsala, Chicken Makhani, and Chicken Vindaloo as well as some garlic Naan - all wonderful, definitely plan to return - great first experience.

The food was delicious (samosas, naan, malai kofta), though I had a fairly basic meal. The waitress was very nice, but I felt so bad for her - she was the only waiter, and three or four groups came in as they were about to close. As I said, the food was very good, but I'm just not sure that it was worth the wait. After we had initially placed our order, it took about twenty minutes to receive our food. Beside that, my small serving of malai kofta was $10.95, and you paid for naan separately. I'll be coming back for their buffet, though, which I hear is amazing :)

I have come to this restaurant many times. This food is excellent- consistently high quality and flavorful. I have never ordered something I did not enjoy though my favorites are the dal makhani and butter chicken. If anything, I have had problems convincing them to make the food spicy enough for me (cautiously making it mild for the American) but its always tasty. Large menu and frequented by Indian customers (which I take as a sign of authenticity). Average order runs $15 per person. Often the owners cover all bases, acting as hostess, waiter and chef. This can cause the service to suffer. A new waiter, Mahin, has made an excellent addition to the team and offers prompt professional service. I crave the food here and highly recommend it.

So, a friend had mentioned to me about this place.... We tried this place over the weekend and went in with mixed feelings. However, we were quiet taken back by the service and the food. We were met by a really nice fellow who suggested some dishes to us and asked how spicy we like our food. Also, the service was pretty decent. The food is always the real test and I think we were pretty amazed at how decent it was. Our family ordered CHICKEN DUM BIRYANI, CHICKEN MANCHURIAN, ANDHARA CHICKEN and lastly the Nuvrutan Kurma. All dishes came nice and hot and were served with a smile. The naans were nice and thin but not overly thick like they are at many places. The drinks were a little on the large side, so order the soda wisely. All in all a great experience. I'm sure we will come back here again. I might even order catering for future events!

My wife and I love ethnic food and Portland, but specifically Beaverton, has no shortage of Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Indian restaurants. We had been overlooking the new kid on the block, Indian Flavors, until yesterday. Mostly because we've lived in Beaverton for 18 years and remember when this building housed a Skippers. That initially kept us away. We were wrong. A couple things to get out of the way. Indian Flavors is still working to calibrate the level of spice for foods based on what customers will enjoy. We didn't love the Saag Paneer, but after talking to the friendly owner we found out that this was a deliberate choice. Ask for spicy Saag Paneer and I'm sure it will stand up to the same dish at other restaurants in Portland. Other than the issue with the Saag Paneer we loved the food. The Paneer rolls are great and the Chicken Mahkani (Butter Chicken) is literally the best Indian dish I've had in Portland. Including India House, East India Company and many other restaurants. The chicken is soft, cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. And the curry, while rich, is spicy and an excellent compliment. So I'd recommend giving this new restaurant a chance. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Definitely get the Chicken Mahkani and don't be afraid to ask for spicier Paneer. It will be well worth your visit.

First walked in on a Sunday evening. Place was empty and the lights were so dim. So, asked the server. If the restaurant was open? He said, yes. Orderd the Chicken Tikka Masala. Sauce was ok, chicken to over cooked. A moment later a group of men walked into the restaurant. Also asked the waiter the same question I did. They bailed outta there.

Fantastic food!! I'm giving this a 5 star rating for what I ordered. Vegetable Samosas, Garlic Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala. The Tikka Masala was creamy and the chicken was Tandoori oven cooked. Mmm.. I will be back. (There are two cooks here I will only vouch for one of them. The other cook will give you butter Chicken when you order Chicken Tikka Masala so Beware)

We've only done takeout. Food was ready in a timely manner, chicken tika massala and chicken biryani were both excellent. The place is really clean and service was friendly. Seemed a bit spendy than other places around, but the ingredients used, to me, tasted a bit fresher than other places - the chicken was cooked to perfection as well.

Took my colleagues here for lunch buffet today. Nowhere near authentic Indian food. They have mellowed out flavors to appeal to a much broader audience. There is a difference between complex flavor and spice. This place lacked the flavor complexity, I dont care much for spice anyway. I personally would not go back, I cook better at home. I would take someone who has never had Indian food ever and they want to try some.

Went back today for the buffet style lunch... i am so glad i live so close. For only $10 bucks, i can eat all the wonderfulness i can. Chikan mikhani is my fav, with a thick piece of naan and that wonderful doughnut like cheese ball for desert... ~ Drool~

I'll be going to this restaurant again...and again. For me, that means a 3-hour drive since I stay in Seattle!! The goat curry was simply awesome. The biryani was amazing. The rest of the items on the buffet were just very good. The service was vey courteous, prompt, and efficient. Easily one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to.

Our family thought that this Restaurant was leaps and bounds better than the previous Indian restaurant that had been in this space. Not to be missed are the Mixed Pakora and Navratan Kurma. The Vegetable Fried Rice was reminiscent of Chinese fried rice but with an unmistakable Indian spicing. My wife and son were quite fond of the Tandoori Mixed Platter. I liked the Aloo Gobi a lot. If you like naan, then order the bread basket. Like-minded vegetarians will appreciate the way the menu is laid out. We even enjoyed the contemporary Indian Music that was playing in the dining room. As is often our habit, we ordered enough for lunch tomorrow and are very glad we did so.

At first I thought this place must be great, because it was packed and I had to wait. They looked around and finally told me to take a table for 6 so I wouldn't have to wait any longer. I went through the line and they had almost everything I was hoping for, but also had a few things I've never tried. It was all good except for the naan. I'm not sure how naan actually should be, but it was dry and hard to rip a piece off. A little annoying but still let me clean the plate. Unfortunately when I got up for a second plate one of the workers made a big mistake. I have no idea how, as it was very obvious a customer was sitting there, but he made a big mistake. I told the guy who was actually busing the tables, and he fixed it but if I hadn't notified him, another customer (or family) would not have been happy. I think it was a chance oversight, which is why I'm not saying what happened, but it's why I'm only giving 3 stars. My second plate was only okay after the dumb mistake, but as a chance oversight I will be going back.

Excellent, and recommended! The owners are very nice, and seem genuinely interested in delivering a good dining experience. I had the chilli chicken, khadai paneer and andhra chicken curry, based on the owners recommendation and these did not disappoint. I thought they could have done a better job with their garlic naans, but in light of the other food, I'm going to let it go. Nice ambiance as well and its refreshing to not walk out of a restaurant and smell like an Indian kitchen (Chennai masala!)

This place has pretty excellent Indian food. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala to go, and it some of the best I have had. The sauce was creamy, flavorful and thick enough for dipping nann and mixing with rice. The chicken was great, white meat, no bones, and delicious. The garlic nann was also delicious, I always like mine smothered in garlic and a larger portion (I am a glutton), but it was still quite good.

The best Indian food I ever had and very good service. The waiter came to our table immediately to take our order and the food came out exceptionally fast. I ordered the Paneer Makhanwala and the taste was like heaven. The chicken Kadai had a fragrant powerful flavor. I was impressed that the dishes came with rice. I can't wait to go back.

I went there with a group for a buffet. The previous restaurant here was not that good. But this place has gone through a makeover and the items on the buffet menu was good. The Chicken was well cooked and some of the vegetarian entrees were good as well. The Kheer on the dessert menu was horrible but the Mango custard was awesome. I had to wait for a few items to be refilled. Overall, I liked this place, the owner was very nice, kept asking how the food was. I would definitely recommend this place.

After a long day of house related work, my wife and I were dead tired and very hungry--- and desperate for some Indian food. Because we do not live in Portland, we fired up the good old YELP app on the iphone and noticed India Flavors. We arrived at about 8 pm on a Saturday night and there was only one or two other parties in the restaurant which initially concerned me. However, as I was noticing this, I was overcome by the aroma of the food--a complex exotic mix of various spices. We ordered the vegetable samosas which were good. We then followed with the Aloo Gobi (cauliflower/potato curry) which was fabulous and served piping hot(got to love that!). We also ordered the obligatory chicken vindaloo which was flavorful, moderately spicey, and just flat out satisfyingly good. The entrees were served with a generous portion of basmati rice which was not overcooked and also served hot. Although our server was a bit disinterested, the overall experience was solid. Definitely would recommend. Cannot comment on their lunch buffet.

The south indian thali was great...complete with a masala dosa, idli, vada, sambar & all the chutneys. Cut mirchi bhajji in the appetizers are totally fab...not for the weak hearted thought but, certainly not too spicy either. Apart from that their lunch buffet is great too with the lamb curry, tandoori chicken & mango custard as the stars of the show!

Come on, Oregon! It has been very frustrating to find good Indian here. I've been told to go to the carts, but there were so many rats running around that I drove to Beaverton instead. The buffet at IF opens at 11:30, but there is almost no food on the buffet until after 12 pm, so don't get there early (why not just open at noon?). None of the food is labeled. There are only a few vegetarian dishes, such as a pea, carrot, and corn curry which reminded me of what comes out of the bag I buy from the freezer at Freddy's. There was no naan until just before I left, and it was very doughy, and seemed undercooked. The papadum wasn't crunchy. This is all acceptable if someone else is paying, or if I'm eating at the house of someone who can't cook well, but this is a restaurant! The buffet runs $9.95. I wouldn't rush to come back. If you're coming for their buffet, perhaps arrive 1-2 hours after opening, so that there's something to eat.

It was a good place for a lunch buffet. The waiter was nice, and the owner came and talked to us. I was wondering about some of the condiments she cooked with, and she seemed very knowledgeable. It's a small business, people. They're not making that much profit if they're going to have a waiter for each table and overflowing pots, or free deserts. So, the way I look at it, if you want authentic Indian food, then you got yourself a good deal with this place.

This place is tucked away in Beaverton, but it's the best place in my mind for biryiani. I recommend the lamb because they do it well. The lamb is not overly cooked and tough like I've had in some places. This place also isn't crowded like other Indian restaurants on the west side either.

~ Drool~

Excellent customer service. Food was superb, some of the best in Portland. My fave was the tandoori chicken and the saag paneer.
