Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

If you are a diabetic, you should also avoid Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich and Whataburger Patty Melt at Whataburger. Chicken Fajita Taco is also off-limits for diabetics. High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Usually not long of a wait for good food made from fresh local ingrediants. Friendly service as well as efficient, can't remeber ever having my order messed up. Prices are a little high, and portions a little small, which means all you glutinous food critics might need to order an extra burger or two. Definitely a 4 star restaurant experience, atleast on a drive through, fast food type of scale.

Burgerville is like the tastiest fast food ever, in the world.....when it's fresh and hot. Unfortunately, I have only ever had fresh, hot food at this particular location maybe twice. And my boyfriend and I had been here maybe a dozen times over the 3 years we lived close enough to justify driving there, because when you crave Burgerville, there's no way around it, you just have to get it. No matter how many bad experiences you've had, the memory of the good experiences tantalize you. So you give it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this time it will be the way it should be for almost $20! You get in the car in your pajamas and drive...well, ridiculously far, really, when you think of all the other, less expensive fast food restaraunts you pass on the way....just to get some crispy Halibut Fish and Chips. These come with fish, fries, and a couple of lemon slices. No drink. And for two people, it's ridiculously expensive. Almost as much as a sit-down restaraunt like Red Robin. So you pay, you crimp the ends of the paper bag shut and you drive home. As you're driving, you smell the mouth watering aroma. You imagine the hot food, all crisp and delicious. You remember the good Burgerville experiences you've had. The Walla Walla onion rings, too big to eat without getting grease all over your chin, but so good you really don't care. The pieces of Halibut so thinly sliced it is really more delicious crispy deep-fried breading than fish. The milkshake, too thick to drink through a straw at first, you have to either eat it with a spoon or wait for it to melt a little. You barely refrain from tearing the bag open in the car and pouring everything down your throat. You get home, fight the dogs off, and sit down on the couch and finally open your glorious bag of....stale, cold french fries and lukewarm Halibut. And you ordered a three piece, but your poor boyfriend ordered a four piece and paid and extra dollar-fifty for that fourth piece- the tiniest crumb of fish...it's like the size of a quarter. You both eat it anyway, because you're beyond hungry, but the whole time you are mentally cursing Burgerville with their addictive food that they can never seem to serve hot unless you eat inside...who wants to eat inside wearing pajama bottoms??!! You tell yourself you will never go back again, you even email the company to let them know how much they pissed you off tonight. You get no response from them. A few months later, you will try again, forever a slave to the idea of Burgerville that's hot and crispy. Eventually you will move far away, closer to a better Burgerville that actually serves hot food through the drive through. And all will be right with the world.

Quality of this place has gone down- hill. They now place the burgers in a warmer which is why the meat is always cold. After getting tired of cold burgers I talked to a manager who said they were sorry. I stayed away for three months and decided one night when I wanted a burger that was close to my house to give it another shot. I went inside and told the person that takes the order that I had many bad experiences in the past with cold food and could they please make it hot. She looked at me and said no problem we are grilling them fresh right now. About five minutes later my food came out cold and when the person that took our order came by and asked how it was I told her cold no change. She said oh my I'm sorry next time ask them to cook it fresh. Gee I thought I had covered that already. I contacted Burgerville offices by e-mail and they did respond to me very quickly and said they were sorry and that they would check into it. They also offered a gift card which I turned down as I told them I don't plan on going back. They are overpriced for cold burgers. Too bad I missed Burgerville when I lived outside of the NW for 12 years. They need to take lessons from Inn & Out & Make it to order. Also noticed issues with cooks handling meat with bare hands and not washing hands after touching other items. Good things about them: Sweet tater fry's and Onion Rings when it's the season and most of the time they are hot.

There is one company in the world that does fast food right. Real ice cream milkshakes. Grass fed farm raised hormone free beef. Fresh Walla Walla onion rings (when in season). Fresh Oregon Hazelnut milkshakes (when in season). Sweet potato french fries (when in season). Fresh Oregon marionberry milkshakes (when in season). Fresh Tillamook cheese on the burgers. I strongly recomend the Pepper Bacon Tillamook Cheeseburger.

This is a Northwestern fast food Chain that only has locations throughout Northern Oregon and Washington. They aren't spectacular or anything, but I think it's pretty cool that they use so many local ingredients and specialties in their food. They have halibut burgers, marionberry and hazelnut milkshakes made with real icecream, pretty decent burgers with Tillamook cheese, sweet potato french fries and other unique things. I recommend trying it out if you are visiting the area.

Gotta love their Walla Walla Onion rings (they're seasonal, so move fast if they got 'em). Those alone boost this place up from 3 stars as their burgers are average at best.

Fast table service and fresh food. I'm not personally a big fan of Burgerville, but I didn't let that hinder my rating any. This place is as good as any Burgerville quality-wise, cleanliness-wise, and service-wise. It was pretty busy, but the line wasn't bad at all and the food still came out fresh and fast. If you're in the mood for Burgerville, this place won't disappoint.

LOVE Burgerville, their gluten free buns, and especially their customer service. We ordered dinner tonight, got it home and the buns on our burger were mixed up, each had half a wheat bun and half a gluten free bun, not a great combo. I took the burgers back, the manager refunded our money, ensured our new burgers were made perfectly and threw in some more fries. Such good customer service and excellent food!

  • Kelley G.

Overpriced and blah...the meat tastes like it's previously frozen. Onion rings were loaded with oil and the fries are not freshly cut :( I want my in-n-out burger :(

  • Nathan S.

Burgerville never disappoints! Got the Walls Walls onion rings...I forgot how delicous and perfect they are. Cooked perfectly to leave the outer breading crisp and salty, and the inner onion soft, tender, and succulent. I also got their special, the Walls Walls onion burger...messy but absolutely delicious!

Who'd have thunk that Burgerville could do justice to a pulled pork sandwich? Not I said the spider. Look they make some quality fast casual burgers and fries and of course if you've been here you know all about the shakes. But pulled pork? With a cherry slaw? And fried asparagus on the menu as well? What gives? I didn't have any asparagus but the pulled pork surprised me. I'm usually a heavy on the spices that make you sweat when I eat something of this nature, but this was sweet and just a bit tangy and I had no problems with that whatsoever. It was good. The slaw was crunchy and the meat was not stringy or lacking in any way. I had some fries and a fresh chocolate strawberry shake to go with it and Burgerville's shakes are always on point. I guess if you've been here you know the deal, if you haven't, don't judge a fast casual restaurant by the poor reputation of other fast food places. Burgerville is definitely different. Enjoy.

Always a pleasant experience with the many Burgervilles we've sampled. I'm just not a burger fan--the salads are good. Mostly we hit the drive through when my children are starving after school and sports and our 45 minute commute seems too long to wait for dinner at home. It's convenient and not awful.

  • Chris O.

I'm so torn on this review, let me try to explain. For one the workers are super nice, even offering up treats for my dog in the car, I love that! Also I have been saying for years that someone should do fast food but with better sourced ingredients like local natural beef and such so I love this concept of Burgerville being a PNW sourced fast food spot. They have regular burgers, chicken burgers, vege burgers (the vege is actually my favorite item so far), salads and of course fries (reg and sweet potato) and shakes. But sadly the beef burgers just don't come out tasty. They seem like burger king quality even with the good ingredients. The beef seems pre-cooked and possibly frozen first, it comes out on a less than stellar bun too, seems flat. Now if they could have In N Out quality this place would be the best!

I'm sad that Burgerville® employees are required to stay until 11 PM, even though it seems like the place is dead for hours. And then I imagine how awful it must feel on a night when people actually do come in at 10:50 PM ordering more food to give them acid reflux and indigestion. We came on a day when the Sundays spelled like the desert were only one dollar. I regretted eating so much food at 8:45, which is about 15 minutes before bedtime.

  • Chris B.

In my amble opinion, Bergerville beats any other local fast food. The waitstaff here is composed of long-term employees and very friendly. My favorite meal is the hamburger basket and then I order an additional small hamburger.

  • Roxie G.

Not a fan. The place is poorly ran. I watched some guy who works there yell and swear at a homeless guy as he was already heading out the door. Then the owner tell that employee good job for standing up for yourself. I am all for standing up for yourself. BUT in a place of business you must remain professional. I didn't come in to hear that mess. I just wanted a mediocre burger... Which I got.

I love this place! We come here on a regular basis, once a week or so. The food is fresh, delicious, and affordable. My favorite is the Tillamook bacon cheeseburger....SO YUmMY! And the chocolate monkey milkshake is AMAZing! You really can't go wrong here. The staff is friendly, and attentive. They take cash of any denomonation. Anytime of day. It's always clean inside, and the bathrooms kept tidy. Awesome job guys!

To be fair, this is really a review of just one item on the menu. I moved away from Oregon 5 years ago, and have always raved that 'for the best chicken strips ever, you really need to go to Oregon and try Burgerville'. You can't imagine my dismay when, on a recent visit to Portland, I stopped in for my favorite treat. Just looking down at my tray, I knew something had changed. One bite, and I was done. If you have a winning recipe, DON'T CHANGE. Remember the 'New Coke' fiasco, when Coke tried to taste more like Pepsi? The new chicken finger recipe is that kind of disappointing. At least the bite of my husband's Tillamook cheeseburger was still as delicious as I remember.

Love their seasonal foods. Blackberry shakes are my fav! Walla Walla sweet onion rings are the best. I love BV's dedication to local community, local issues, posters of our neighbors, and support of church and team events. Kudos to you. I hope the airport is a great success. Thanks to Mike and Kathy for reminding me that their ice cream is just the best!

This is not one of the better Burgervilles. Maybe they have a burned-out crew, maybe they have a problem with the clientele, maybe the management doesn't care? Customer service was all right, which is not saying much. But my experience and the experiences of my friends is that the food will simply not be what you expect of Burgerville. Recommend going somewhere else, there are plenty of burger and food options in easy reach.

Today I was craving Fish and Chips so I decided to stop off here to get some. I was a little shocked at the price $12.99 for 4 pieces. I figured okay they are probably decent size. I order some fries, and a drink. I didn't realize the $12.99 wasn't a combo price, and I spent $16.49 for fast food. I sat down, and waited for my food to be brought to me. The restaurant was clean, and inviting. My food came pretty quick. I couldn't believe my eyes. The pieces of fish were thin, and smaller than a hashbrown patty. The pieces of fish were literally two-three bites at the most. The flavor was bland, and the tartar sauce was too. It was very disappointing for the price I paid, and the food I received.

  • Jeff H.

I come here a lot but I complain every time. The burgers are good but I swear the actual meat is getting smaller and smaller every time. The Tillamook bacon cheeseburger is my favorite. U used to love the cheeseburger with the special sauce but the burger is so small now you taste sauce and bread and that's it. The shakes are amazing. The fries are good ..especially the sweet potato fries. However I think they are way overpriced for the quality they are putting out now . And the quantity. That being said...I still come back like an idiot for the Tillamook bacon cheeseburger and shakes. Lol

  • Brendan C.

Every time I've ever came here, I felt like my order got messed up. Either my burgers, fries (sweet potato fries were normal potatoes), my milkshake messed up, or something.. Like they'd blend two orders when I tried to make two seperate ones. I agree with Elise K, they don't seem like they know what they're doing half the time. I can forgive one incident, but I've had multiple incidents. People say Burgerville is the best burger place in Portland, but I dont see it. Give me Dicks or even Canyon Grill Burgers anyday.

This Burgerville location is a bit difficult to navigate because it is crammed into a small property on the corner of two busy roads (Allen and Scholls Ferry). Parking is a challenge and the drive-thru window is normally a bit slow. Cars sometimes back onto the road. The service inside has been good and the food is typically Burgerville...better than standard fast food and focused on local ingredients.

  • Carrie S.

Rogue River Smokey Blue Salad = Da Bomb Service at this location is always super nice. And patient. Which was key the last time I was in with a four year old who couldn't decide what type of shake to have. This is why I babysit,,,,so I can return the children back to their rightful owners at the end of a painful raspberry or chocolate shake temper tantrum. Blue Cheese can be a bit risky for those that are gluten intolerant. I have had this salad multiple times with NO problems whatsoever. I know that there are brands of Blue Cheese that are gluten free. I have never been able to find out which brand Burgerville uses, but since they tend to use "healthier" ingredients in their food, I am assuming this is the same for the blue cheese.

I am obsessed with three things that Burgerville offers - portabello wedges, the portabello burger & the rosemary shoestrings. The likelyhood of you finding me at one of these places at any other time is unlikely. Burgerville would extra rock if I could eat there for less than $9.50. BUT DAMN, those mushrooms are good.

    (3)
  • Elise K.

No one seems to know the hell they're doing. I asked if they do lettuce wraps, they're response was yes we can do any burger a lettuce wrap which really means your burger placed on top a piece of lettuce swimming in mustard... Gross!

I have a love-hate relationship with Burgerville and it is more because of the fans than anything else. The problem is that it seems as if the drive through line is always huge, sometimes to the extent that one can't even park. Now if the line is long and you can park then you are in for a treat because the service is quick, inside at least, and of course the food is delicious. Oddly enough one of my favorite features of this restaurant is the reciept which details just how unhealthy my meal was for me.

  • Eric B.

Often times, my son comes back from Portland with "restaurant " recommendations. So far, he has highlighted Voodoo Doughnuts (check), the Fat City Cafe (soon), and Burgerville (It's Organic!). I don't know about that, but the Burgerville slogan does say "Fresh - Local - Sustainable". And that it is. Several previous reviewers have debated comparisons to "In-N-Out". I personally think we're talking apples and oranges. I really like Burgerville. We stopped here one afternoon after a long day of visiting various Portland-area schools. This is not fine dining, but it's fast food that's a cut above. My Tillamook Cheeseburger, fries, and hazelnut chocolate shake (with real ice cream) were all delicious. Gayle also had a salmon salad which was also very good.

It's understandable that fast food restaurants can be hectic places so once in a while its okay for me to get an orphaned onion ring in my order of fries. The best thing about Burgerville is that they are the pioneers of the fast food sweet potato fry. So thinking that a delicious cup of sweet potato fries was in my future, my hungry self goes to Burgerville. The cashier tells me that they are all out of sweet potato fries! My entire purpose of my visit is thrown into a tailspin! My order switches to fish and chips. So we find a seat across the decently clean and 50's themed dining room. My order comes and there is a fry orphan in my basket. Not just any orphan though, a sweet potato fry orphan. Overall, Burgerville is a great company which has a quality menu. Just watch out though because they hoard all of their best food as evidenced by their bold, lying cashier and the sweet potato fry orphan which they served to me to taunt me.

  • Tyler T.

I'll start by saying it's the best drive through burger you can find. That said, the prices are really expensive and the service is only so-so. I had a few special requests for my order, all of which were ignored. I guess it's fast food, so you can't expect too much from the people working there. The milkshake was great at least. I think I'll probably be going somewhere else in the future for food, but I'll be back for the milkshakes.

  • Richard R.

I swear I could just keep eating the colossal cheeseburgers one after another. Damn things just melt in my mouth I tell ya. Prices are a bit high compared to other fast food joints, but for some reason I don't find that too hard to stomach knowing the quality of the ingredients and the idea that I support the local farmers. Burgerville's website states that they "partner with and purchase from farmers, ranchers and producers in our local communities whenever possible. When you choose Burgerville you're not just choosing great-tasting food; you're making sure that local businesses throughout the region thrive."

Sweet Jesus that was a good burger! The walla walla onion cheeseburger has left me dreaming of it. I would consider moving to the northwest because of Burgerville. The sustainable meats and such is a big huge bonus in my book. The seasonal items let me think I'm eating with the seasons a la Alice Waters (ha ha), and the way they treat their workers means the customers get treated better. Given that we are rating a fast-food chain, they get five emphatic stars from me.

    (5)
  • Brian M.

Like many places I often forget that they're around. But I've been making a point of eating here more often when I'm in a hurry and need something fast. First its local. Second they use a lot of stuff locally in terms of ingredients. Sure the burger takes a bit longer but its SO much better than other places. Also I'm not sure what's in that special sauce...but its hmmm...hmmm good.

    (4)
  • Chad M.

Shakes are 4 stars. Service is 4 stars. All the rest of the food is 1 - 2 stars. Even the tillamook cheeseburger ain't what it used to be and their charging so much more for it than your other fast food chains do for a comparable burger.

  • Dinah Y.

I was in the area for business and craved for some hot fries and found it here. The special rosemary fries are the best I've had in any restaurant, fast food or gourmet. I should know cause I travel the country and have searched for outstanding fries. I asked the manager how would she rate their fries and she said just wait till you taste it right from the fryer. She served it to me hot, crispy, and filled my basket with the best tasting fries I've ever tasted. Excellent, I will return for their other selections.
