Papa Murphy’s

1850 Campbell St
Baker City, 97814
Reviews:
He loves pizza. I love pizza. The problem arises when we pizza freaks found out there is no GOOD pizza in town. Papa Murphy's has come to the rescue of Baker City by being the only decent pizza around. Probably for a good 50 miles as the pizza joint in La Grande we hit up a couple weeks ago sucked. It's take-n-bake, but that's just fine as we both love our pizza at a mouth melting, strait from the oven to face temperature. Since you bake it yourself, we never have an issue of it being delivered cold nor over or under cooked. Nor do we have to tip a driver. All of which are pluses. This particular Papa's has a drive up window. This is a really nice feature if you call ahead to place your order so you don't bog down the line. Of the two times we've snagged a pizza here, each time has had fast and friendly staff. Now if we could just remember to use the awesome coupons that came with our previous pizza the next time we visit.

Lone Pine Cafe

Reviews:
We were driving to Portland and came across this fine place on a rain filled day on a stop for gas and food in Baker City. Nicoise Salad, Soup of the day, Hot tea, and a sandwich for us. It was all very well made and freshly prepared. What a great hidden gem in a tiny little town.\ Local, Travelers, Wanderers, Foodie, and just ordinary hungry folks, if you find yourself near Lone Pine Café, stop and have a bite.
If you are passing through Baker City make sure to plan breakfast or lunch around The Lone Pine Café. Soooo good. We had the pork carnitas. The beef is local grass-fed. The atmosphere is more Portland than Baker. Who knew? We will definitely be back.
Stopped overnight on a road trip in Baker City and found this excellent spot. The pulled pork Benedict over zucchini cakes and topped with bbq hollandaise (more like hollandaise than bbq) was the best eggs Benedict I've had. Great service, nice interior, and outdoor seating. The coffee could have been stronger, but it was still good. If you're in Baker City, do yourself and your companions a favor and skip the processed, microwaved national chains for the local, homemade goodness of the Lone Pine.

We had a peach scone (best scone I've ever had), cheese omelet, buckwheat waffle and a piece of frittata. It was all very good. In addition to the menu, they had a few pastries, all freshly prepared. The food was very good and fresh tasting. The environment was nice and relaxed, lots of artwork on the walls, open with high ceilings, very well decorated.
We loved this fun and funky spot!! The owners are such nice folks. They are transplants from San Francisco and Manhattan ! The food is fresh and prepared with love. The wife has a fantastic eye for detail and design. The interior is like a modern art museum.. If you are hungry for a wonderful meal, do yourself a favor and visit this treasure..
What a lovely cafe! I love the ambiance and it's very relaxing. I had the breakfast frittata and a vanilla latte. The whole wheat Apple ginger scone was amazing--moist on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside. Our food was hot and served promptly. The coffee is very good and we're definitely coffee snobs. I would certainly come again.

Charlie’s Ice Cream Parlor

2101 Main St
Baker City, 97814
Reviews:
Wide windows allow for a brightly lit, cheery interior: just as an ice cream parlor should be. The employees that helped me were friendly and efficient, and my frozen treats were delicious ~ I cannot wait to return when I am in the area again!
I think it's incredibly rare that I get such a great impression from a business that I tell the proprietor that he/she has a great establishment. But I had to do it at Charlie's Ice Cream Parlor. There isn't an slam dunk quality to the place except the customer feels that Charlie truly wants his customers to be happy and to have a great business. The staff is very outgoing and helpful, and the shakes are topnotch. I had a fresh Cherry shake, wish I had gotten another one for the road. If I'm ever in Baker City again I hope its when this place is open. Also, this should really be in a restaurant category as well, I should know, I had a great Meatloaf sandwich and Potato salad there. How would we go about adding this place to the restaurant listings?
Continuing our assimilation into the laid back Eastern Oregon lifestyle here in Baker City, my boyfriend and I went to Charlie's for an old fashioned chocolate malt. Well, that and we miss our late night milkshake outings in Salem at the local 24 hour diners and were looking for a good replacement. (Sadly, like most of Baker, Charlie's closes rather early) Regardless of the hours of operation being somewhat narrow, Charlie's is a nice little shop right on the corner of Main Street. It has plenty of tables inside and out for sipping your old favorites or munching on a waffle cone. The two employees I have run into here are a young lady and an older gentleman, but of whom were very pleasant and both knew what a malt was. You would be surprised how many people do not know what a malt is any more. The ice cream in the freezer cases was a store bought brand. I was a little disappointed that they did not carry a local brand or, even better, something homemade. The shake produced was rich and thick, with the right amount of delicious malt added. The large is plenty to split between two people, which we did both times - even though the second time my boyfriend got a double scoop of sherbet, I still made him share the malt with me. Now that the colder weather is coming, I don't see many ice cream happening, but come summer, we'll be back!

Delicioso Mexican Food

Reviews:
Two chicken tacos plates and a yummy chicken quesadilla were eaten here. $20 for just that. Also the chips beans and salsa are quite good.
Not sure how 5 stars is called for. The ambiance is cool the food is decent...not rave worthy but I ain't gonna bash it. The chips were stale, and the salsa was a little bleah. The service is personable and efficient I wouldn't avoid this place but I wouldn't bee line for it either. It's 1230 and the place is empty on a Saturday if that is any indication. Happy eating time to be a road warrior I am outty 5000
pretty good food-- nice staff, great service, slightly pricey for being Mexican food of that quality but still great. There's a good variety--you can either get basic cheap stuff or better quality larger and more filling meals. Liked it!

Sorbenots Coffee Roasters

Baker City, 97814
Reviews:
I've come to Baker City once a month for the last 7 years thanks to my National Guard service and this Sorbenots has been there by my side, helping me get through the weekend. I usually go through the drive thru (only recently going inside for the first time to order because I was in town without a car) and service is pretty quick. When cars are backed up someone will come out to get other orders started. I also love that they are open incredibly early in the mornings so I'm still able to get coffee when my day happens to start before that of a normal person's. Sorbenots will have my patronage as long as I have to keep traveling to Baker City.
What an amazing place! Truly a local gem. Great service, great coffee. What more could you ask for!
So great! Highly recommend the banana split and mud slide mocha. Also, they have almond milk! Young lady behind register recommended getting half the syrup - it's perfect! Great pull up window but I walked in to explore the menu. Cute little place inside with great patio outside! The two girls working we're so nice too! Definitely stop here! And then be proud that you supported this place over the Starbucks across the street! Cheers!

Earth & Vine

2001 Washington Ave
Baker City, 97814
Reviews:
I'm two for two in Baker City! (See previous review in profile). The Earth & Vine is a restaurant that could very well also be straight out of Portland or San Diego (or Ventura, or even the Arts District of downtown Las Vegas). I am humbled by the newfound knowledge that such a small, unassuming town such as Baker City could be home to a restaurant/wine bar/local art gallery such as this. Earth & Vine is a charming and cozy (but not cramped) spot to enjoy a meal and admire the art displayed throughout. The woman who served me was beyond friendly, attentive to my needs, and had a good sense of humor. It's only appropriate then, with such good service, to report that the food was to die for! To start, I had the house salad with dried cranberries and toasted almond slices with a side of balsamic vinaigrette. It was fresh, tasty, and made with delicious mixed greens. For my entree, I enjoyed an Italian flatbread pizza. Without spoiling it for you by telling you exactly how it tasted and exactly how it made me feel, I will just inform you that, when I return, I WILL be ordering this again. And, of course, this is the entree that I recommend you try! Rounding out my already-full stomach with dessert, I ordered a slice of Huckleberry cheesecake. Yes, you read that right. Huckleberry cheesecake. All you need to know is that it tasted even better than it sounds. (How is that even possible?!) After today, I want to move to Baker City for the quaintness of the town along with its amazing restaurants! I will be back, BC, and Earth & Vine!
Great find! Had lunch there on the 7th day of an 8 day road trip. Very comfortable, clean, and the design was upscale and urban. Excellent food, lot's of healthy options. It was a great experience. Our service was prompt, friendly, and since it was the owner, she gave us great descriptions of the menu items.
We had lunch here with locals who know the place and the owner. I really like the look of the restaurant: spacious, attractive art, etc. There is a decent wine list but we had beer as Barley Brown pale ale is served. I had a Caesar salad with chicken added. It was fine...not best ever but good. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich and liked it. The owner served us and was attentive. She also prepared most of the food but not most desserts. It was a good place for lunch.

My family and I were on our way home to Blaine, Washington, from Salt Lake when we decided to stop at Baker City for the night. Hungry for good Chinese food, we stopped at Mulan Garden and are very glad we did. I'm literally eating the food right now and it is hot and fresh, with perfectly cooked veggies and meats and a wonderful hostess/server. The servings are generous and beautifully presented (see picture). I have done a lot of catering and worked in restaurants and am a journeyman level scratch baker, so qualify as a foodie - this place is excellent, clean and a great value. If you like Chinese food, you'd be crazy not to stop in and enjoy this hidden treasure.
Fast service, great food, I go there all the time for lunch.
My husband and I were a little bit afraid to try this place because we were the only customers, but all the other places nearby were completely packed out with Cycle Oregon people, so we didn't have many options. Turns out that the food was really good (particularly the moo goo gai pan!), and the waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Too bad the Cycle Oregon people missed out! ;)

The Little Bagel Shop

Baker City, 97814
Reviews:
This place was a great find when I needed breakfast early his morning! Had a jalapeño cheddar bagel with green onion cream cheese on the side. It was great and the coffee was good too. The breakfast sandwiches looked wonderful as well! Loved to see that they had sweet and savory options. Will definitely stop in again if I am ever back in Baker City!
The young woman taking orders kept looking over my shoulder and smirking at someone behind me, as though a cute boy had walked in. I felt like she could care less that we were all there to order lunch. No vegetarian options, so I had the green goddess without turkey. It was surprisingly bland. The bagel was big and doughy and the garden veggie cream cheese didn't have a lot of flavor. They also forgot the tomato.
Bagel sandwiches were great and made with good, fresh ingredients. I highly recommend them, as well as the coffee, which made for a great start to the morning!

Excellent food, great prices, awesome service. Surprise hidden gem in Baker City just south of I-84. My wife and I travel for a living and find it difficult to find healthy food out on the road. This place is a quick walk from a truck stop that has medium capacity parking, and there's parking at the restaurant if you're in something smaller. We ordered a Tangy Thai bowl and Pesto Bowl both with tofu. Food was fresh, veggies were perfectly tender-crisp, rice was well prepared and sauces were present without overwhelming. Our orders came out promptly at the same time and our drinks were kept refreshed. This establishment also features great espresso beverages, which was a huge bonus so we didn't have to endure the bitter Starbuck's brew around the corner. We walked out well fed with healthy food and great tasting coffee for less than 20 bucks. Definitely stop here when in Baker City.
Basic atmosphere with seating inside and attempt at a patio on the busy street with some protection from the traffic noise. But for what this is, it has to get 5 stars. The bowls were incredibly flavorful and filling, especially for the reasonable price. All of the help was very friendly too. Close access to freeway for those passing through.
Was passing through Baker on a trip and was pleasantly surprised by this gem! The combinations were creative, ingredients fresh and food delicious. I got the angry chicken salad and was very impressed, but couldn't come close to eating it all. Living and eating in San Francisco, I haven't encountered a menu like this before but think this concept would do well there. Service and pricing were also fantastic.
