After checking into our hotel we were ready for something quick and cheap. We had a choice between this McDonald's or the BK down the street. Our friends who joined us our trip were extremely tired and asked us to bring food back to them at the hotel. The first thing I noticed was the cool looking retro highchairs that were used back when I was a kiddo. They were physically in amazing condition for the age but looked like they hadn't been cleaned in several decades. The only reason I did not leave at that point was the rest of the place looked cleaned even in the bathrooms. I had the staff wash and sanitize the trays in the back before I allowed my daughter to use the chair. We ordered our food to eat there and planned to get the food our friends ordered on the way out the door. Other than having to wait a little extra time for a McRib everything was okay. Then comes the time to order my friend's food. I admit they are a bit "unconventional" in customizing the items they order. My friend was hungry and asked for TWO Double Quarter Pounders WITHOUT cheese and ketchup (weird I know) and his wife asked for a sandwich as well. I was tired and wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to make another trip down there if the order wasn't correct. The cashier at the front counter took the order correctly according to the receipt and the 'special order" tickets placed on the wrappers of all 3 sandwiches. I realized that the Double Quarter Pounders had both cheese and ketchup. I returned to the front counter and asked for them to remake them. I saw one employee place the boxes containing the sandwiches I returned back on the rack where it could easily be given to another customer. I waited at least 5 minutes for the remake of the food and watched as employees handed out food to other customers who came after I returned the sandwiches. After another 5 minutes (I timed it) I demanded the entire order be replaced because the food they did get right was room temperature at best. Not once did I get an apology and even after I pointed out that the sandwiches remained at the rack the manager or whoever was in charge simply left them there after mumbling something as he walked away.

Personally, I don't like mcdonalds but when I was living in astoria, oregon. It was like one of the only choices to go for a cheap meal. I don't like it but I go there with friends. My friend is usually a cheapscape so this was the many times that I ended up at mcdonalds. I do like the chocolate chip frappe they have so thats why I would give it a higher star. I usually feel sick after eating at this place. Also I feel like a lazy slob and on the other side. I feel less incline to workout after eating here. I try my best to avoid this place.

The World According to Noelle Allergic Girl's Guide to Life Mid-morning we passed through Astoria. I was in need of breakfast so we paused at this MCDs. Astoria's downtown lacked any visible breakfast places. This MCDs is brand new, the food was good, the service friendly. Driving through the downtown was quick, perhaps Astoria's only claim to fame is the movie "Goonies." Noelle's Notes Decent breakfast stop.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! This is an independently owned location, therefore their prices tend to be higher than regular franchise locations. Their "Dollar Menu" is almost non-existent. They will charge extra for things like substituting "Mac Sauce" in lieu of another condiment, but will not decrease your total if you have them hold more expensive things like cheese, tomatoes, etc. Want to add cheese? Have about .79 cents extra to tack on. Their price structure makes no sense at all. One can practically buy a sandwich for what they charge for one cup of regular coffee. Have a problem with the prices? STOP PATRONIZING THEM like I did. Counter staff comprehend your order, but it gets lost in translation when the cooks get it. I have lost count how many orders they have had to remake due to the cooks not understanding the English language. Sadly, many of the management speak spanish to them, but to no avail. Maybe their high prices have something to do with controlling their margins from all of the wasted food due to communication failures. Very sad commentary. Obviously a corporation that donates "one cent for each happy meal" to the Ronald McDonald house really cares for its customers. Oh, and that donation period is for a limited time. Feel the love and care for our dying children. So, want to dine with the local drug addled transient youth who come in, don't buy a thing, but sit in the booths carving swastikas in the tables and other beautiful art work? This is the place. You will learn some amazing ways to use profanity and watch first hand how drugs have destroyed the fabric of our local community and nation. Want to dine with the mentally ill man who also doesn't buy a thing, but sits in a booth and scribbles manically while saying all sorts of profane things and talks about raping women? This too is your spot. Management does nothing to keep these folks from keeping the regular diners away. I will never set foot in this location again. One free thing they offer is second hand smoke. Many of their employees, including management love to stand around the entrances smoking and coming in reeking of tobacco smoke. Such a lovely addition to your dining experience. You can also come in and watch employees sweep the floors while texting on their I Phones". One lad (who has a habit of taking fries out of the hopper with his bare hands for his own snacking pleasure) almost knocked an elderly disabled lady over while he was "multitasking = sweeping and texting). This same employee loves to use profanity within earshot of customers while he is in the back area. He also is quite expressive when he is off work and hanging out with his mates and using all sorts of colourful language in the dining area. This leaves a solid lasting impression of a professional image of the establishment. One day, customer service establishments will recognize that we have the buying power and will finally grow tired of this treatment and being a witness to these behaviours.

We stopped here on our way to Rockaway Beach and had a very pleasant experience. It was our son's first time at McDonalds. They had high chairs with bibs on them ready to be used. It never occurred to me before having our son but I love their kids happy meals. He loved their apples and took several bites of his cheeseburger. I had to change our son's diaper and they had a changing station in the womens restroom. It was great that they had changing pads for the changing table. Clean atmosphere and it was quick. Cute town too!!!

When you're in a port town like Astoria, seafood is a must! While this quaint little burger joint doesn't specialize in sea fare, they do have a sandwich that pays tribute to the fishing community in the town. The sandwich is aptly named the Fillet-O-Fish as it features a hefty piece of wild caught cod atop a freshly baked steamed bun. As I enjoyed the sandwich I looked out over the bay and wondered which one of those boats had caught the fish I was enjoying. It is true that knowing where you food comes from makes it taste that much better. Served with a creamy premium, made fresh daily, tarter sauce this sandwich had me hook, line and sinker. It will be tough, nay, impossible to get this level of quality seafood when I go back to Portland but knowing that Astoria and McDonald's are only a short 2.5 hour drive away will allow me to sleep tonight. EDIT: Found out we also have a McDonald's in Portland!!! The Fillet-O-Fish here is good but you can tell it was frozen at some point. Not quite as good as the fresh catch from Astoria location.

Beware. The brewed coffee is $.89 higher than any other McDonalds I've ever been to. In fact, it's more expensive than brewed drip coffee made fresh at any coffee house I've ever been to. Plus it's the only McDonald's that wouldn't take a coupon for the McCafe beverages. Strangely and hugely overpriced.

Typical McDs... great service though and open 24 hours which is a rare find in this sleepy coastal river town.

I give it 3 1/2 star because if you upsize your meal you get a free cool COKE glass. Other than that its your usual McD's
