    Neo-classic Italian restaurant downstairs, trendy Shakespeare-out-the-back-door bar upstairs, Macaronis / Martino's pleases locals and tourists alike. Reasonably priced by Ashland standards (and a-typically inclusive of caesar salad or minestrone with your entree), you can dine here on traditional fare (Chicken Parmesan, Linguini with Calms, Fettuccini Primavera) as well as the unexpected: Oregon Smoked Salmon Ravioli, or Pollo Alla Martino (a char-grilled lemon and sage chicken breast with grilled shrooms - mmmmmm!). We often make a lighter weeknight supper out of an assortment of their antipasti (the Warm Spinach Salad is lovely, as is the Scampi con Lemon) or even just the Crostini Misti - four generous slices of toasted Italian bread each with it's own different broiled topping - with a salad or a cup of soup on the side. Add a glass of Montepulciano and call it a night in the neighborhood of $20, tip included. There's also a nice selection of Pizza's and Calazone to choose from ... and by all means you should at least once indulge in their famous Macaroni and Cheese. You'll be able to actually hear your arteries slamming shut, but it'll be totally worth it.

    We came late and ate at Martoni's ... I recommend going to MacAroni's for the ambience. The food is a solid 4 the service was a 3... But we came late and they were closing up. The lobster ravioli was well seasoned and generous portions. I had the straw ad hay ... It a pasta dish with a white sauce, cut up ham and fresh sweet peas and other veggies. It was tasty veggies were great, sauce was good, pasta was good. I recommend this place.

    Skip this place! Yuck! The pizzas are nothing resembling a pizza. More like a soft cracker with cold cheese. My Caesar salad was swimming in dressing to the point of being inedible. My husbands seafood Caesar had disgusting gray withered prawns and tough dry salmon. A most unsatisfying meal in a town with too many other good options.

    Acceptable Italian, but far from the best in town. Convenient location if you are in Ashland. Seating above Main Street is nice if weather permits. However, the downside of that is street noise and odors (diesel), including passing fire trucks and ambulances while I was there.

    I love this place whenever I'm in town for a play at the Shakespeare Fest. This place has the BEST MINESTRONE I've ever tasted, with some crusty french bread its the perfect lunch or dinner.

    This restaurant is downstairs from Martino's, and they appear to share the same kitchen and menu. Ate dinner here twice. First table was in the front room by a window, very comfy and airy. Second table was in the back room in a booth, very claustrophobic -- low ceiling, snug seating. Service friendly, food OK. Italian food is most always OK, so far as I am concerned. This place is situated adjacent to the OSF theaters, and I am told that the actors adjourn to the bar at Martino's after the evening performances (just in case sniffing around actors appeals to you).

    I almost took a point off for the salad. It just wasn't what I like. Barring that, this is easily a 5-star place. Nice waitstaff. I ordered the spaghetti. Because I have an aversion to pork and most seafood, that seemed a safe choice. Normally spaghetti in an Italian joint is going to be fair, but this was excellent! Great flavor. Usually marinara seems to be a stumbling block for Italian places, but this marinara had a bit of body to it. The meatballs were perfectly done and had just the right combination and amount of seasoning. I'm planning to go there again tomorrow.

    First and foremost the food is delicious! This is the second year we've come to Martino's before seeing one of the Shakespeare plays. Both times we were running a little late to eat before the play started, but the service is incredibly fast. The servers are friendly and understanding. And the ambiance is nice - it's a smaller dining area which gives it a more intimate feel. Still yet, going at 7pm we never had a problem with a long wait.

    Martino's was a fun place with great food. We went to Pasta Piatti the night before and Martino's was much better. The staff was great! I had the lobster ravioli and enjoyed it very much! The salad was great as well. Husband recommends the salmon pasta.

    Pasta is okay, but the pizza we had was pretty gross, soggy, and wet. It's definitely nice that there are so many options for seating and the outdoor area is lovely but the food is just not great and not worth the high prices. Yes, it's close to the theaters, but I'll just go somewhere else from now on (eaten here about 3 times).

    In the past we always ordered the same entrees. Now they have a new menu which still has my favorite (Seafood Cesar Salad with shrimp and salmon - still very good) but no longer has my husband's favorite pasta. So today he ordered another pasta which was tasteless and low on pasta. Mostly had tomatoes with no seasoning. The bread was a day old. My margarita was mediocre. Very disappointing. There are too many excellent restaurants in Ashland. This one just fell off our list.

    Great food, great atmosphere! Martino's (the upstairs half of the establishment) has a wonderful balcony with a great view of downtown Ashland. My family and I spent the last night of our vacation to Ashland with a wonderful dinner at Martinos, and it was the perfect way to end the trip. Highly recommended!

    The ambiance is cool...Frank Sinatra and candle lit VERY small dining room. I had a penne carbonara-it was good but not blow my mind good by any means. The service was OK. He was prompt but I really wanted a second martini and before I even had the chance to try and order another or even get offered another we were presented with the check. It was pretty early and people were still coming in to get dinner so I'm sure they weren't closing..but oh well. The minestrone is good and the bread was nice. Would I go again...probably not. m I sorry we chose them for dinner...no but I might have kept walking up to the next Italian eatery had I not wanted a martini (or 2!)

    We ate upstairs at Martino's. It was horribly hot outside, and the restaurant was peaceful and cool. There is a bar along one side, but it is quiet and friendly. This was more of an adult atmosphere than downstairs. The food was great. Will definitely return!

    Upstairs & outside comfortable and nice location to theaters. Staff very accommodating to altering dish for diet restrictions, but very expensive. $14.00 for a salad plate size dish with greens, 2 slices of tomato, 4 carrot sticks and 4 small slices of chicken. Not good value.

    Nina and I had dinner here last night. After the carbo-loaded breakfast we wanted something light before the theatre. I was surprised to discover that I hadn't reviewed Macaroni's, as we have eaten dinners here many times over the years. It's on E. Main Street itself, as opposed to Martino's Lounge, upstairs. They share a kitchen and the menus seem pretty much the same. We wandered in a bit on the late side and they accommodated us wonderfully, from the host who seated us to the waitress who took our order and got us our food so quickly that we were able to make it to the theatre w/ time to spare. We both ordered spinach salads w/ broiled shrimp. We were brought a basket of bread and butter. The salads were delicious, w/ spinach, sun-dried tomatoes and small bits of candied walnuts. The shrimp were on skewers and were not at all dry, although they were a little salty. It's a salad we've had here before, only upstairs on the patio, and we love it. We really appreciated the swift and friendly service.

    Cute bi-level Italian restaurant with delicious fresh tasting food! Their portions are the perfect size and they remind you that overeating is unnecessary. Their pasta sauce is made so fresh and their pizzas are delicious as well. The lady who helped us was so nice and very hospitable. It was my first time in Oregon and Ashland is such a cute yet quaint town. I can't wait to go back, highly recommend this place.

    Great service. They were greatly accommodating, especially considering the whiny fussy members of our party. We were a tough group, and they did a great job. I loved my pasta Mediterranean, and my daughters veggie calzone was good. Tiramisu was not too sweet, just the way I like it. I'll be back next year.

    My second time at this restaurant and the food was still very good. The wait staff seemed a bit disorganized this time however. One spilled a glass of water on the table and customer's lap. And another brought the wrong bill. The lobster risotto with fresh peas and artichoke was very good though not perfection.

    Came here for drinks and it was on the Ok side. Not really much to choose from. Drinks were Ok and could have been better. We didn't order food. But the food did smell good and looked yummy. Maybe next time we'll just try dinner.

    Mixed review. The Carbonara was legendary. I have never had it's like. The touch of bacon was absolute perfection. On the other hand, the Salmon Ravioli sauce was so salty, I could not finish it. Too bad, because the ingredients were excellent, just ruined by salt. We finished the Carbonara together. When the server came to finish, she did not give me an opportunity to tell her about the awful sauce. So, this is my opportunity. I will give this place one more chance, but I've never had a restaurant experience where one meal was so good and the other so bad.

    I first came to this restaurant with my mom when we were in Ashland checking out the college. Now that I've lived in the area for 2.5 years, this is my choice restaurant for special occasions. Anytime my parents visit, which isn't that often, I make them take me here and we often are remembered by the dark/curly haired women who works on the upper level. When I brought friends here for my birthday, the waiter overheard us talking about it and brought over a birthday dessert which was very tasty. They make excellent drinks - when the bartender knows how to make a blueberry kamikaze, they're the best. Food is always solid. We always order the Crostini Misti as a starter - tasty, inexpensive, and good unique flavors. I'm always too full to order dessert, but I've heard rumors that their tiramisu is the best in the valley. Can't wait to try it. The balcony patio on the upper floor has a great view while not being to loud and they have heaters for when it gets a bit chilly. Great location just a few doors down from the plaza. Only thing that bothers me about this place is that I can never get a straight answer as to why the two floors are completely separate and even have separate names.

    Don't bother making a reservation! You've got Martino's upstairs and Marconi's downstairs. One kitchen. One menu. One website. but apparently, they consider themselves two separate restaurants! I called and made a reservation for the outside tables (Martino's) but they had my name under Marconi's (no outside tables.) So no lovely outdoor meal and an easy walk to the theater for me. I've eaten here on every trip to Ashland. It's not special, that's for sure, low level 2 star food mostly, but I loved the outdoor tables and the proximity to the theater. After this evening, I realised it's just not worth it. I'll go to other restaurants. I will never eat at Martino's/Marconi's ever again.

    We meandered into this place for a pre-play meal. Upon arrival, it seems as though about 100 other people had our same idea - we had a 20 minute wait. The place is fairly small, but, well decorated. The hostess was very nice and seemed to be not only sitting people but also helping clear tables - no biggie. The waitress was very nice, timely, professional, etc. The food, though supposedly Italian, seemed more like food trying to be Italian. I had a seafood Caesar which was ok, the salmon was a bit too dry but overall tasty. My daughter had the clam and mussel appetizer for her meal - it was quite good. My other daughter had a salad and the mac n cheese. The mac was pretty grubbin - four cheeses, baked parm on top. But, mac n cheese at an Italian Restaurant?? Yeah, made me think too. One oddity I noticed while perusing the specials, all of them had some sort of lemon-based sauce. Ok, I like lemons and all, but, all 4 of your specials have a lemon undertone? Variety people, we need variety!! Overall, a pretty good choice. I would have given it 4 stars for the hostess alone (:P) but if you bill yourself as an Italian Restaurant, ya gotta stick to Italian dishes. Ya feel me?

    I ordered ravioli with marinara sauce. It came with soup, which was almost as good as the main dish. The tomato sauce was medium-thick, and the dish was prepared nicely. There was a large selection of wines, some very expensive, but I decided to pass on the alcohol. The dish was just the right size, not too much, not too little, and I felt content with the meal. Overall, very good service, and food to match.

    I've been here time and again with friends (who hasn't?) because it's convenient. That and the minestrone soup are the only two reasons to ever go here. Apart from being a split personality with the names (it's just a downstairs and an upstairs establishment), the food all comes from the same downstairs kitchen. And if you're writing home, you won't be mentioning the food. California black olives sliced up and put in a pasta dish? Are you kidding? And what about pasta with four small pieces of chicken makes you think $18 is the right price? This describes my evening with "Pollo con Liquore". We won't be seeing one another again. But late night? After a play or some time at a bad party you left early? Go upstairs, sit outside on a warm night, order a bowl of minestrone and some bread, get a glass of whatever, and enjoy. That experience would be 3-stars. But dinner off the regular menu is definitely a 1-star affair, and even that's pushing it sometimes. Given my druthers, downstairs would be hit by a comet and come back to life as a fabulous little bistro. Upstairs would be renovated and turned into a swank spot for a bit of jazz and fun. But my druthers are stuck in another universe and so for the meanwhile we have the Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde of restaurants sitting in a prime spot on Main Street.

    We went here while we were waiting to get into and OSF production. The service was quick and friendly, the place looked great, the food was good. I understand that there are two places to eat, one literally just above the other. I'll probably try the lower establishment next time just to compare, but we had no complaints about what we had and the service we received here. Being only a few footsteps away from the theater certainly made for convenience and the prices weren't as expensive as I was expecting considering the location.

    Bad service. For the past 36 years I've never left a restaurant without leaving at least 10% tip, until today. The service was terrible. We were seated at at table with full sun. They were saving the tables with shade for other customers. By the time we had finished eating, no one had come to sit at the tables with shade. My elderly parents felt unwell (it was a hot sunny day and they were sitting in full sun). There are so many great restaurants in Ashland, you don't need to put up with rude, incompetent and malicious service. True, it's 4th of July. Advice, close your restaurant if you aren't going to be nice to your customers because they annoy you and you'd rather be having a 4th of July party.

    We did not have good luck with restaurants in Ashland this trip and Macaroni's was no exception. Slow service, we were stuck in an out of the way alcove across from the kitchen, and not really memorable food.

    After reading the reviews on Yelp we were slightly apprehensive but since we had already made reservations the four of us ventured in. We were pleasantly surprised by the great meal and service. Everything we had was pretty darn good. Great spot before/after the show.

    The service was good, but the food was another story. Bread came cold, the cesar salad was delicious, the lasagna lacked ricotta cheese and very little meat. Now for the joke of the meal- the tiramisu. Their version of tiramisu is crunchy ladyfingers topped with some kind of pudding, whipped topping, and sprinkles of chocolate and two cruchy empy cannoli shells on the side for $6.50. Are you kidding me? I should have known when I asked the waitress how the tiramisu was and she said she is told to say it is good. I thought she was joking, The joke was obviously on me. I will not be back.

    Ya know, I don't know. I was invited to dinner and I didn't have to pay for it so what the hey. The food wasn't bad, it wasn't good either, I have to say while my capellini was more than solid my comrades mussels were a bit dry and over cooked. I asked about ordering a puntanesca off the menu, they looked at me like I had two heads. Nice selection of local wines but if I go into a Italian joint with no puntanesca on the menu I should be able to get it off the menu. The server couldn't pronounce the food names, and in fact the Canadians we were with were able to pronounce some of the things better. Have you ever heard Canadians talk? This is a bad sign waitress!

    Went here for my husband's birthday while we were vacationing in Ashland. We were seated right away since we were the only ones in there and they promptly took drink orders and brought us crusty french bread (sooo good). Prices seemed fair. Ambience was nice with candle light. Macaroni and Cheese was AMAZING! My alfredo chicken dish was good, but chicken seemed like it was boiled (yuck). Other than that it was a nice experience. My suggestion - Not a place for young children.

    We liked that place! The food is very good for the price. We stopped there for lunch, I had spaghetti with sausage and my wife got steamed clams. Both dishes were excellent. The service is outstanding! We definitely come again.
