Got the family combo D and it was pretty good. Your typical 3 star Chinese restaurant, nothing special. The service however was very good, and the food came out quick like usual that's why I felt it deserved 4/5 stars.

Ping's Garden is a fabulous Paleo find with fresh ingredients. It is awesome balance of authentic clean fresh Cantonese food a la Hong Kong style, and also dishes that Americans commonly love in Chinese restaurants. I love this restaurant because I can go there and eat authentic clean fresh Paleo Chinese dishes with American friends who love their Happy Family favorites. Ping's Garden restaurant was quite crowded on a Friday night, but there was still room to get a table. It's a bit hidden away, so keep looking for it, if it is your first visit.

Unfortunately the food quality over time has gone down hill as well as the attention to detail from the staff. Tonight for example we ordered sesame beef with steamed rice BBQ pork. Sesame chicken with sweet and sour sauce. We had take out. But when we got home we had no sauces for the pork or the chicken and no rice. But the hot and sour soup was good

My stomach felt very at ease and satisfied after eating here .The vegetarian items are excellent, and the owner is a really good guy.

I've eaten here many times, and the service gets slower and slower. This time it was a Saturday night at 6:30pm. The restaurant was about 1/2 full. I walked in the door and found nobody at the front desk. I stood around waiting to be seated for 5 minutes. Finally was seated, and was handed the menu. Again waited 10 mins for the server to come back. I told her what I wanted to order. She replied to me that they're completely out of soup. And that they'e making more so it's going to be a while. I didn't really have a choice, so I agreed. I waited 20 minutes for the food comes out. After all of that it was just so so. I grew up going to Ping's Garden as a kid. And every time I'm in town I make it a point to go. The past couple times, the service hasn't been what I was used to. I hope they get that figured out in the future.

Ping's Garden really surprised me. I have eaten Chinese food from San Francisco to Hong Kong, of all shapes and sizes, but I was not expecting the high quality of both flavor and freshness that I found at Ping's. We started with the steamed char siu baos, amazing! Then we ordered Happy Family, a wonderful blending of fresh veggies and meats. The sauce was not overwhelming, nor were the veggies overcooked, as though the dish was prepared fresh, just for us. We then had Pea Pod Chicken and again, very fresh snow peas were used, not overcooked at all, in a very light sauce. Ping's is 5 minutes off Hwy. 5, near the town of Albany, in Oregon, and well worth the detour if you are anywhere near Eugene, Oregon. I really envy the folks that live in the area, as they can visit Ping's anytime.

Haven't been to pings in well over 9 years (been living out of the area), so when my husband suggested Chinese for date night, i knew where we had to go to my old favorite place in town. We were seated right away to a booth. Right away i noticed it want as darkly lit as it used to be, but maybe should be. The decor is very 90`s. Our waitress was nice enough but had zilch in the personality department and apologized for taking so long but she was very busy. She would apologize a couple times throughout dinner, but there wasn't really anybody there...so what was she busy with? Anyway husband ordered a cocktail and couldn't taste the liquor but i could and i ordered iced tea and after going back and forth, i got the plum wine as well and it was AMAZING. we ordered the tidbit tray for our app, bbq pork, wontons, and a shrimp eggroll. This came with red sauce with just a tad of hot mustard. It also had sweet and sour sauce that congealed quickly...so that looked gross. The appetizer was pretty good. Shrimp eggroll wasnt heavy and the wontons were crispy and hot, purl? A little dry, but once i dunked it in the red sauce it was yum. WE Got the #8 & # 9.no substitutions allowed, which was kind of a bummer because i really wanted wonton soup and no numbers anywhere came with that soup. I ordered the standard egg flower soup and hubby upgraded to hot and sour. Both soups were really good the egg flower had no oily taste and his soup was delicious. Or food came and we were totally overwhelmed with how MUCH food came to us! He said overall his #8 was "okay" my number came with almond chicken chow mein and the amount of celery that came in it was ridiculous and little chicken. Lots of almonds though, so I overlooked the other two flaws. We asked for two to go boxes and left, our main courses barely touched. Overall an ok place, but I'll probably explore other Chinese joints in the area. I miss the pings of 10 years ago

When we first ate here I thought it was ok and the next couple of times we came, it has gotten so bad. I believe this is the worst Chinese food we ever ate second to Jade garden in Corvallis. I am very particular about my food because I always make home cook meals and though at times i want to take a break from cooking and so we dine out. If you're the kind of person that likes bland food then this place is right for you just saying.

Without a doubt my favorite Chinese food place anywhere in Oregon. A perfectly pleasant location and family/business friendly in design, pings offers a plethora of Chinese dishes at extremely low prices. I've taken friends and family out to Ping's and payed less than $20 for 2 people plenty of times while still taking home left overs and feeling completely full. The service is friendly and the tables have always been clean and cleared waiting for you to sit down, while the food is always hot and plentiful. No matter what you order from the combination plates, you will always get a lot of food, most of which come with a soup appetizer. Out of all of the Chinese restaurants around Albany, I feel that Ping's Garden is the highest quality. They may even deliver, but to be honest I've never asked. I'd highly recommend checking out their website and trying their food the next time you're craving Chinese. P.S. Their Fried Rice is the best I've ever had. -Ian

Food was not impressive at all. Tasteless fried rice, very little chicken in it. I'll try somewhere else next time.

Finally found good Chinese food. Let me start by saying, I am picky about my food as I have eaten at some of the best. Being new to the area, I was pleased to see plenty of Asian type restaurants. Have tried quite a few and it's not been good. Yesterday on the way home, hubby and I decided to try Pings Garden. It was late afternoon, so not a lot of people in the restaurant. Pings is very pretty inside and out. Seating is a combo of booths and tables. Plenty of window seats and room between the tables for some privacy - they also have a bar and very nice banquet facilities. We tend to order the same three dishes when trying a new Chinese restaurant: fried shrimp, sweet and sour, Mongolian beef all served with steamed rice. These are our "litmus test" dishes - if they can't do these right, the rest generally is bad too. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, crisp and light tempura - not greasy in the least - the red sauce and mustard paired nicely. The Mongolian beef arrived on a crisp bed of rice noodles - tender beef, carrots, peppers, onion all in a smokey slightly spicy sauce. We ordered a staff favorite: Sweet and Sour Combo - combo of tempura fried shrimp, chicken breast and pork in a lovely orange sauce - not too sweet and presented beautifully. The dishes were all very good and time was spent on perfecting the flavor and presentation. Our server was attentive and very helpful. As we were leaving the early dinner crowd was filling the seats. We will be going back to expand our trip through their menu. Oh, they also have "American" food on the menu if you have a picky eater!!!

Don't get their take-out unless you want to get home only to find half your meal missing, and are thrilled to go back and have to pick it up, and by the time you get back with it the other half waiting back home is them cold. Fourth time out of four orders in a row. I know what you're thinking, "why doesn't this chick just check the bag before leaving their with take out?" I'm usually not the one picking up the order, and even if I was, they make it pretty conspicuous that you're checking their work since they put it all in one big paper sack and tape it shut on all the corners, although you could check it In the car, but really that's something they should be on top of after 20+ yrs in business in this town, we shouldn't have to check their work and drive back, but the yet sure as heck not going to offer to deliver it to you so unless all this sounds like a great dining experience, skip Pings. It's Americanized Chinese food at best and service dining in isn't any better. Don't waste you're time, and if you've got time on your side it's a 20 min or less hop down hwy 34 to China Delight which is authentic with great service and amazing food, nice atmosphere without the hassle and compare two round trips to pings time wise to one trip to China D and you're not saving any time or gas going with pings.

I don't care for their fried rice, but the hot and sour soup, as well as their chicken chow mein is great.

Love this place, the food and the people. The best Chinese place in town.

Ping's has, hands down, the best egg-drop soup I've ever had. It is light and brothy, not heavy and oily like so many I have had. Fresh chopped green onions float around the top and add just that little extra that makes it so fantastic. The portions are great, plenty to take home from every order. My personal favorite is the Kung Pao Beef, extra spicy. It is truly delicious. Even if it does make my sinuses clear out in .5 seconds. Personally, I see this as an added bonus though. I have recently discovered that the American fare annex menu has a pretty decent cheeseburger and fries that my daughter now eats instead of the Chinese. This makes us both happy, she eats everything on her plate, and actually enjoys it. One note worthy of comment. It's a fifty fifty shot on whether you get good service or not. Last night we had one of those off nights. The waitress was very young, new, and inattentive. At least we know this is not a consistent happening, so we'll be back.

Every time I have had to go to Corvallis or Albany since I moved to Oregon, I have come here to eat lunch or dinner on the way in or out. That's been often. my husband had a job in Corvallis for a year in the middle of our marriage and he even ate here without me a few times, and he never does that. I know it's not AWESOME Chinese. I think it's pretty good though. We like the char sui bao, the bbq pork, the potstickers, the sesame chicken, and chicken with broccoli... oh and the egg foo young. I haven't had problems with the service or the cleanliness, and I like the bottomless diet coke, they really did refill them a lot last time I was in. So, I'm giving it 3 stars plus a 4th for being a decent non-chain place to eat in a small town and lasting so long.

We first found Ping's when we visited Albany some 10+ years ago. The combo included a wonderful appetizer, Honey Garlic Chicken Wings. Every thing was good but we couldn't stop talking about that chicken. Now we live in town our family's favorite is the Honey Garlic Chicken (same taste but a nice upgrade from the wings we remembered). We usually eat family style and each pick a dish. Someday we'll learn to get two plates of the Honey Garlic. The portions are large so we always go home with a ton of food... but the Honey Garlic Chicken never makes it home.

The portions are good which is ok if youre hungry. The staff isnt very enthusiastic about being there or about you coming there, and some of the server attitudes border on snotty. The food itself is mostly bland and cheap quality.. its like cheap quick corner chinese joint food, served in a dressed up restaurant with a few dollars more tacked onto the price. Its mostly overcooked and tasteless, but if you want some quick, american chinese food, you dont have many options here in albany.

If you are starving, require giant portions, and don't mind bland food then Ping's will be fine. It isn't like Albany has a lot of options. The service is fine and food comes fast. The bbq pork was really the only edible thing. I ordered a combination platter and each serving of each item was enough to feed 2 people so I had a plate big enough for 6. I am serious. The almond chicken chow mein consists mostly of celery, lots of celery. LOTS of celery. There was hardly any chicken and almonds. The half order of fried rice was enough to feed 2 people with left overs. Overall, not memorable. It is open until 10 pm every night.

Good tropical mixed drinks and I always get the Singapore noodles. Yummy for sure but some of the other dishes like chow mien are average and somewhat plain.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
