I am a new fan of sushi and Yoko is at the top of my list. It is great to have this location for all us South Tulsa folks. We really enjoy going to the Sushi happy hour. There are a couple selections of sushi that are half price from 3-6 PM daily. It is a great deal! We can have a dinner for two for under twenty dollars. The edamame is also included on the happy hour menu. Unfortunately, there are no happy hour drinks during this time. The restaurant is very nice. We have sat at the bar once and at a booth with six people...still very roomy. The patio looks very inviting, so we will for sure try it in the cooler Tulsa months. However, both times we have gone there have been problems with our orders. Both times, we alerted the waitress and she fixed it immediately. They do get busy at the happy hour times, so there is a wait on food. But, it is well worth it!

This place has beautiful decor and interior and the servers are nice. Unfortunately, this spot has all the makings of a bad sushi place and, well, it makes bad sushi. I had the pork buns to start, which were over sauced and the bun to heavy and dense. This should have sent off the alarm: sushi places that serve other East Asian cuisine styles are usually bad...I sat at the sushi bar, and their offerings were not impressive to look at. I had no interaction with the sushi chefs, only one of which was Japanese (another alarm bell) who had long hair and was wearing it down and loose, so pry had a little hair in my food....I ordered a spicy tuna and spicy scallop since they are hard to screw up; they were not good and made in a unfamiliar style....maybe their food items from other East Asian disciplines are good, but a Japanese restaurant should make that nations cuisine a priority. This place may be good for people who don't know any better but in my book it's a pretty epic failure. I appreciate what the McNellies group does for the Tulsa dining and bar scene, but they need to pick up their game on the quality of product they offer.

Really cool place when I walked in. The decor is some of the coolest I've seen. However, the service was a bit slow. We had to wait a fair bit to receive attention. Regardless, our waiter was nice and kept on checking on us. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with a seaweed salad for an appetizer. Try seaweed salad was great, standard to say the least. However the eggs benedict were under par. The eggs couldn't even be considered poached and the hollandaise sauce was mediocre. Additionally the muffin wasn't great. However the other sides were really good. The breakfast potatoes were thin and we'll seasoned and the side salad was dressed perfectly. This is definitely a place I'll visit again, but I would definitely avoid the eggs benedict.

I'm going to lay it down... It was our fault for not being alarmed when seeing white people make our sushi. Got our water, our fab server didn't even introduce us her name, left and came back within 2min to take our order... seriously? Since we were ready, she gave us about 10min to get ready. Then we waited for a good 35-40min for three rolls and it wasn't a full house. We got the famous "hot mess" "nutty Thai professor" and the "Philly roll". The didn't server didn't apoolo

I absolutely love Yokozuna. The design is stylish and fun, the staff is nice and the food is great. Not your "authentic" Asian food stop, but the trendy sushi and ramen bowls are to die for! I love the spicy ramen, but don't be fooled, it. is. SPICY! Love the El Guapo roll, Geisha's demise and the roll & a gift! The Flying Lotus cocktail is also incredible!

This is by far one of the best Sushi bar's I've been to since living in Tulsa. The Sushi was amazing, had some good Saké, and I was most impressed by the service. Our server was named Carly??? I think. She was very helpful in helping me with everything from the chopsticks (which I'm not so great with), to making some great suggestions. I'll most definitely be returning here again. And I forgot to mention the decor of the restaurant. I'd like for my house to be set up like this place.

I've always been a fan of their downtown location, so we thought we would check out this one when we were in the area. The decor is excellent and it has a modern feel with a great balcony seating area we took advantage of. I recommend getting there by 5:45 to take advantage of the happy hour featuring several rolls (like the $2.50 CA Roll) and $3 edamame. I went with the Nutty Thai Professor for my main course. Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area or want to branch out from the Brady District / Downtown scene.

Sunday I visited Yokozuna for the first time. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly host. There was immediate seating and when the rest of my party arrived we were seated. Our server was friendly and attentive and gave us great service. I ordered a cup of Miso to start with and then I had a New York Roll and a Route 66 Roll. The Miso was excellent. The Sushi was not bad, it was good but it was not anything exceptional either. The overall atmosphere and cleanliness of Yokozuna was top notch. I'd go back but It was not my favorite sushi that I have had in the great 918.

Finally made it to the new South location about 2 weeks ago. It's located in the corner of a decent sized strip mall at 91st and Yale (Whole Foods, Smashburger, Upper Crust, a kitchen supply store, a few other restaurants, etc) with plenty of parking. I will mention though that the day we went there was a huge thunderstorm and the parking lot got pretty flooded. Not Yokozuna's fault of course, just a side note. :) This location is bigger than the downtown location, which is nice. There are some regular tables, booths, banquet seating, sushi bar, and an indoor balcony. There are 2 walls of windows, so the lighting inside is great. The bathroom is modeled off of the downtown location, but it seemed smaller. The tile in there needs a good scrubbing, it already looks worn and gross. It would be less of an issue if the bathroom wasn't right next to the kitchen entrance.....am I the only one bothered by that? Speaking of, as I exited the bathroom I was almost run over by a waiter exiting the kitchen. Strange layout for that area, but oh well. On to the food! Ordered the same rolls we always order at the other location. The quality and presentation is the same so that's a plus. I had just had my wisdom teeth taken out the previous week so it took me awhile to eat my rolls. I had to cut up a few of them b/c I couldn't open my mouth very wide - hubby had to go track down a fork for me since our waitress went missing. Made sure to go during happy hour (M-F 3-6pm) for the best deal. We will be back!

I love this newer Yokozuna location! Everything about my recent visit was 5 star sexy. Lunch hour isn't crowded and the ambiance really makes you feel like you get a 'break' from work. The modern decor is cool and definitely not overdone and natural light is abundant with lovely large windows. Service is excellent and prompt. Booth, table and bar seating is also available. I started with a hot tea and was brought a huge wooden box to select my choice. For lunch, I opted for the seaweed salad and had an unusual request that they didn't beat an eye over: a plate of steamed veggies, wonton chips and avocado. I promise I'm not thhhhaaatttt girl but I'm currently pregnant so can't take advantage of their fish. There are plenty of non-fishy items on the menu, but... I'm pregnant ;) I can't tell you how much I love Yokozuna. Just trust when I say 5 star sexy (at both locations!)

We had the worst service and the waitress messed up our order and didn't even try to make it right, right away. We waited 20 minutes for carpaccio, it's raw fish, how long does it take? I heard the kitchen say they needed it and then 20 minutes later we still don't have it. She gives us excuses and a fake apologie and then the manager brings us our food, after having to point out that we've waited and still don't have our food. This wasn't the first time we had bad service at this location. Servers need to learn the menu and practice customer service. Very disappointed in our experiences at the South location!

I was a bit intimidated by Yokozuna's downtown location. The servers had this exclusive quality about them. Honestly, I almost felt like I wasn't cool enough to eat there which is a shame because I really enjoyed the food. However, the South location had a completely different vibe. The restaurant and staff were much more welcoming and accommodating. The pricing and food selection is the same caliber as Yokozuna's downtown location but the South location is preferable in my opinion. I went for a double dinner date with my girlfriend and our best friends. We were very impressed by the variety of sushi they offered. We had the Golden Driller and Hot Mess rolls. Some of Yokozuna's rolls are pricey but I've never been disappointed. I think their prices reflect the quality of their ingredients. If you are looking for a great date restaurant, I would definitely suggest checking out Yokozuna, but be prepared to spend a little more money than usual.

Food is amazing, I'd like more non-spicy options for sushi rolls, and amazing decor. Staff at times seemed not interested when going in after 5p but was friendly when they served.

Moving from California to Tulsa included leaving behind our favorite sushi restaurants. Matt had tried a few sushi places before I moved but did not like them. ENTER YOKOZUNA. AMAZING!!! We went there last night for dinner and everything was so delicious! We had the Hot Mess, Volcano and Golden Driller. All were amazing! They also have a great beer and wine selection compared to other sushi place. The atmosphere was great - really trendy and HUGE!

My wife and I almost always order the 10 piece sashimi combo. It's always fresh and delicious. The rainbow roll is also very good. The General Tso's chicken is very flavorful and a bit spicy. Honestly, I would explore more rolled sushi options if it weren't for the imitation crab in a lot of it. That is my only complaint. We've only tried one dessert, the key lime mousse, & it was fantastic.. The service is always quick and pleasant.

Here is the problem with Yokozuna...it's one of those things that really pisses me off about restaurants. Great food and shitty service, which (in my book) equals shitty management. My husband and I went there as a "Valentines do-over" night. We had reservations and were immediately seated as soon as we walked in the door. That part was awesome, but that's when everything went downhill. Our waiter was running all over the place and kept coming by to say "I'll be right with you" while flapping around like a chicken with his head cut off. When he did finally come over to greet us he asked what we wanted to drink and immediately asked what we wanted to order....we had been there literally five minutes and hadn't even had a moment to look at the menu. He ran off to get our drinks and returned a few minutes later to take our order. He ran off again and we literally got our entire order about ten minutes later. No time to enjoy our drinks or have some conversation and it sincerely felt like they were trying to get us in and out as quickly as possible. We watched as everyone in the restaurant ran around like they were on freaking speed. Even the manager came running by with a broom and dustpan to clean the floor...yes...in the middle of Saturday night dinner service. We had ordered the spider roll, the route 66 roll and the beef carpaccio, all of which were amazing. The problem is that our waiter came running by again, never asked me if I wanted another drink, asked if we wanted dessert and then when we said "we're good for now", brought us our check. We were there, in total, for 45 minutes before leaving. This did not feel like fine dining, this did not feel friendly, romantic or in any way a place that you would want to spend an extended period of time. YOKOZUNO MANAGEMENT you would probably make more money if you made people actually feel welcome to stay for a period of time instead of a table you were trying to quickly turn over. Tasty food or not, we will not be back and certainly won't recommend it to anyone else. A total disappointment.

Woo-hoo! Businesses are starting to realize there is more to Tulsa than "downtown"! So excited Yokozuna added another location. I already like this location better than the original...why?! Ample parking my friends! And you don't have to pay to park! Okay, now that i just blew your minds with free parking, get this...it is everything you know and love about the original Yokozuna. Sushi happy hour is still in effect. The food is still delicious, and it is a great atmosphere for a date night or swanky getaway. I actually like the decor and atmosphere better at this location than the original. Can't wait to go back!

Had a very good lunch at Yokozuna on a Thursday. It was brisk, but we didn't wait too long for our food. I like the interior, it's modern but comfortable. Also, as a couple of yelpers have noted, there's a fun balcony as well. Next time I eat here, I may sit at the sushi bar. It was large and looked comfortable. We had edamame to start, which was nicely salted. To eat, we had the following rolls: the hot mess, the rising sun, the pub roll, and the golden driller. They are large, about 6 pieces each. Of the 4, my favorite, and one of the best rolls I've had recently, was the hot mess. It has chipotle cream cheese, jalapeño and imitation crab, tempura fried and topped with a mix of imitation crab and spicy tuna. It's served with eel sauce, sriracha, and a fried wonton chip on top. This is a great example of textures working, as the crunch from the tempura and wonton chip add so much to this roll. There is some heat, but not too much. It's large (see the photo), and it can be tough to get it all in one bite. But, when you do, it's worth it. Can't wait to order this roll again. The pub roll is seared beef tenderloin with asparagus and fried sweet potato. I found the rice to ingredient ratio off in this roll. That being said, it was good. The rising sun has shrimp, imitation crab, cream cheese, mango and avocado and is served with a rum pineapple sauce. My companion chose this one, and I was worried it was too fruity. But, I really liked it. The sauce is sweet, but not overly so. I'd not had a roll with these flavors, it was refreshing. The golden driller was the simplest roll: tempura shrimp, jalapeno, spicy mayo, and cream cheese. It had some heat, but it wasn't overpowering. It was a nice roll, but I've had a lot of rolls similar to this. I'll absolutely return, already ready for another Hot Mess...

Love yoko down south! So glad we are getting more restaurants out here! My husband and I love sitting at the sushi bar and having our casual date night! The food is wonderful and they have great gluten free options. Always one of our go to places when people come to town.

Chic place, good service, & yummy rolls! Love love the variety of sushi rolls they have. So many to choose such a small stomach to try them all. They even have a roll w/peanut butter, coconut shrimp, mango & other yummy stuff. The roll w/tempura shrimp and seared filet on top was amazing. All the rolls we had were great. The only thing I didn't love was the Ira squid salad...it wasn't like the other sushi place I love.

I planned a girl's night with some friends and made reservations on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full with a few parties waiting for a table. I'm glad we were able to be seated immediately with reservations. If you plan on coming to this restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night, I highly recommend taking a few minutes to make a reservation! The decor of Yokozuna was very modern and looked very nice. I thought of it as a really nice place to go for a date. Then there's the service... our drink orders were taken rather quickly; however, we didn't receive our cocktails for a good 30 minutes when the waitress returned to take our order. Our waitress was running around helping other tables, so I certainly don't think this is a matter of laziness - most likely poor management style. I ordered the dilly roll for some raw salmon and the volcano roll for the more elaborate taste. I can't remember everything my friend's ordered, but one of them was the route 66 roll. The route 66 roll was delicious, but the pieces were so large - it made it really difficult to enjoy. The volcano roll came out on fire and looked amazing! The fire goes out on it's own (don't worry, I wasn't sure what to do with it at first). The roll itself was ok, I've certainly had better, but it wasn't bad. The dilly roll was ok as well. I ordered the roll because I really wanted some raw salmon. The roll comes with a dill sauce topped on the roll. I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor combinations. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. In review, if you're looking for a sushi place that looks neat with sub-par service and ok food - I would recommend this place. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere!

Been here several times, most recently this evening. My friends and I all had the chicken pad thai, and 2 of us added shrimp. It was really good, but not the best pad thai I have had, I like a little more peanut flavor. I do like their food, I would say it is really good but not super outstanding. Wait staff is friendly, love the atmosphere. We had lunch here a couple of weeks ago and mentioned to the waiter it was our friend's birthday and he brought us out complimentary mochi (japanese rice cake, almost like ice cream but not super sweet, just perfect) in several flavors. So I definitely recommend this place and will continue to frequent it.

Me and my fiancé came here for late night sushi following drinks at Hodges Bend! It's pretty cool that they stay open until midnight. The sushi is pretty good, but I think what gives yoko the leg up on a lot of places around here is their hours and their location! It's pretty sweet that they have discount prices on certain things depending on how late you eat also. The sushi chef did a great job on our rolls and the fish tasted very fresh, but the thing that put it over the top for me was the sake bombs our waitress let us do at the table! I think they try and keep the "sake bombing" to a minimum here, but once our waitress found out my fiancé hadn't done one, it was game on! Overall we typically have a great time when we come here for sushi due to the atmosphere, location, and the food. Yoko isn't the overall best sushi in Tulsa, but if you're in the downtown area and get that feeling, yoko is definitely a solid choice that shouldn't disappoint!!

Beautiful interior...perhaps the hippest in Southtown. Great service. Happy hour sushi. Gyoza was delicious. But the sushi...not so much. The first time I dined in..honestly was so overwhelmed by the specialty roll menu and the variety of appetizers that I ended up without any traditional sushi. Most of the specialty rolls seem to have tempura, ebi, or imitation crab....which to me are not really sushi. If you're squeamish about raw fish and are looking for alternatives in a hip atmosphere this is your place. Tonight we ordered carry out. Realizing that we just wanted tradtional sushi we went for ahi sushi...it was so stringy it it couldn't be eaten except in one bite. It's surprising to me that the sushi chef wouldn't have noticed and discarded the filet. So, Sushi Hana, I'm sorry...I cheated on you. I went on a date with the new kid on the block. I'll be back soon for a Black Samurai and I promise to never stray again.

Came in for dinner. I ordered a sashimi assortment, pork buns, and miso soup. The soup was very good and had large chunks of mushrooms in it. Bun was also good, and they are only $1 on Mondays. My sashimi was not great. The fish was nice quality but the rice had a strange sauce on it and wasn't cooked well, it was crunchy and basically inedible. My friends ordered rolls, which were much better. Cocktails were also good. The atmosphere was nice and service was very good.

This place seems more about the atmosphere than the food. The food wasn't bad, but I've experienced better sushi else where. The environment is pleasant. I like the down town location better.

Yokozuna exceeded my expectation. The restaurant was very modern with loft seating. The menu was filled with whatever your taste buds were hoping for. For an appetizer I had the sweet potato fries. They were dipped and fried in a tempura batter. Absolutely delicious!! I had the sweet and sour chicken as my main course. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I would highly recommend this place, a five star for sure.

I ordered the 10 piece sashimi dinner. The quality of the sashimi was average. I think it's a little overpriced for $22 - rice was extra. The service and atmosphere was excellent.

Outstanding service from our waiter, Richard. He took extra good care of us given my wife's allergies. He even brought me a free shot of Sake since I was celebrating my birthday. Sushi was incredible.the Roll and Gift is my new favorite roll.

As regulars of Yokozuna Downtown, my husband and I were both excited and a little hesitant to visit the new Yoko South, but we couldn't have been more happy and satisfied with our first few experiences! The quality of the appetizers and sushi is on par with the downtown location, and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. They honor the same sushi happy hour as the downtown location (every day from 4:00-6:00 PM), so my husband and I can each get two rolls and our bill totals $16! Our favorites are the Route 66 (with masago and extra spicy mayo), the Spicy Yellowtail (with sweet evil sauce), and on a special occasion, we'll splurge and get the Hot Mess. Next time you're in South Tulsa, take a gander into Yoko ... you won't be disappointed!

I've been here twice now. Once in January with my brother and again tonight (Feb.) with my mother. The architecture is both modern and Japanese, so I love it. Unlike a lot of restaurants that get nearly impossible to hear when they get packed to the brim, the noise in the restaurant goes upwards because the ceiling is so high... So if you're sitting next to someone, you can hold a conversation fine, but if you stand up or try to hear the table next to you, it's very noisy. It's a very unique kind of place. I will even say that unlike just about every restaurant I've ever been in, I also felt like the bathrooms here were good. They excelled at privacy and were, dare I say, clean. But enough about that. So the first time I was here I could not have been more impressed. We went pretty late one night in the middle of the week and were pleasantly greeted with good service, good food, and an overall fantastic experience. We were searching for an authentic (or as authentic as we could get) ramen shop, and were pleasantly surprised by what good luck we had in finding that Yokozuna had some. And it was good... so good! Now, tonight, we walked in seeing people already seated, waiting for tables. Only there were tables open (you could see several that were empty), but they were supposedly all reserved. I'm not used to this side of restaurant outings, so this was a little frustrating to me. Still, we decided to wait anyway. 40 mins later, we were finally given seats at the sushi bar, which was fine, except we sat there for almost 10 minutes before a waiter came to introduce himself. I mean, I get the place was packed, but I wasn't exactly happy about that. Finally, he got our drink order, and almost immediately got it back to us. There was a nice little moment where he brought out the entire tea selection for my mother to look at and choose from. So, drinks in hand, we waited... and waited... and waited... and almost an hour later when we were almost about to give up, we got our sushi roll, the caterpillar roll. Both times I've had it here, it was absolutely superb. Major Kudos to the wonderful sushi chefs here. There were four or five of them who were constantly working on something, and even as good as they were, they could barely keep up with all the sushi orders. But being at the sushi bar, you could really see some amazing creations from these talented and very skilled people. So, we happily finished off our sushi roll, and then we waited some more... maybe another 10-15 mins before we finally got our meals. Happy to say, it was well worth the wait and the price. I had a salmon dish this time, which was simply incredible, and my mother had a curry dish, which she said was equally as amazing. So I plan to go back here again on account of their food being amazing and our server trying to make the best out of a hectic night. However, I am deducting a star for the incredibly terrible wait and the way they handled it this evening (despite it being Friday, and despite it being right before Valentines Day). I do recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves good food.

If I could love the Flaming Volcano Roll any more I would. Oh, wait...I would love it more if it didn't have imitation crab! I request a substitution, using soft shell crab ($5 up charge). It's much more tasty, so I don't mind the up charge, really. Honestly, I really do not understand the use of imitation crab at all. It's in many of their rolls. Fresh crab isn't that hard to come by. This, in my opinion, is the one flaw of Yokozuna. Other than that, I can find no fault with their food. Excellent spring rolls, excellent service and good beer selection.

I've been to Yokozuna many times and had a lot of their rolls. As I mentioned in my first review, the rolls are always good. Nothing amazing but reliably good. Well, I recently ordered the salmon nigiri, and I have to say--it was AMAZING! They must use different cuts of fish on the nigiri/sashimi than they use in the rolls. This salmon was the fattiest (in a good way), most flavorful salmon I think I have ever had. I have been craving it ever since. I can't wait to try the other fish nigiri-style to see if it is as good. I really hope this wasn't a one-off thing!
