This review is only for the bar area. Stopped by here recently with my colleagues for a nice evening of drinks. The restaurant is very nicely appointed but it was nearly empty at happy hour, save for our group and one other just enjoying the bar...something that usually means the food is not particularly spectacular. The bar service was okay, but friendliness was lacking from the staff and the drinks were not particularly well made. I had a vodka Collins and it tasted like the lime juice was either from unripe limes or that it had gone bad. We also tried some chocolate cake shots, and the lemon slices were literally over ripe and had seeds dripping off of them. For $10/shot you would think presentation would have been more of a concern for this place. While it wasn't a 1-star experience, I've definitely had better and probably won't be back. The prices the bar charges for drinks simply doesn't align with the experience you receive at this sub-par establishment. It's a shame...the Mayo is a gorgeous hotel and could do so much better than this.

I was so disappointed in this restaurant. I love the Mayo. The location in the building seems as if it was shoved in because they had to have someplace for customers to eat. Be aware that if you make reservations for a group you must pick your food from a short list that you are given. There is no ordering off of the regular menu. Our food was average at best. The service was worse. More than once a person at our table had to go find the wait person and it took TWO hours to eat lunch.

After reading all these reviews, one thing came to mind, you're all being too easy on this place. My wife and I were staying at The Mayo on a Sunday night and heading to a concert at The BOK. We had an hour and a half until we needed to leave so we thought we had plenty of time to eat. It took 10 minutes to get our drinks and we didn't see the waiter for another 20 minutes after that. We finally had to go find him and let him know we were ready to order. The food took forever and when it finally came all we got was my entree and the appetizer. We ate all of that before my wife's food arrived. Food was ok bar food at best. When our tab came it was completely wrong and we had to track down the waiter once again to get this fixed. We love The Mayo and stay there every time we are in Tulsa, but we will never waste our time at Trula again. If you're in the area try The Tavern, Smoke or one of many other places that have much better food and service that is outstanding.

Nice appearance but mediocre pricey breakfast food. The air condioning is soo loud, you can't carry on a conversation.

My wonderful husband took me here for Valentines Day and I was so excited! I love the renovated Mayo Hotel but I have to say I wasn't very keen on the restaurant. It wasn't near as nice as I had hoped. I also wasn't very happy that for Valentines Day they had a set menu. I had wanted something off of their regular menu and I was told that it was not offered. I almost wanted to leave. BUT we stayed and we had the his and her's V-Day menu. On the her's menu I started out with a Wild Mushroom Bisque that was okay, not the best bisque I have ever had. My favorite bisque in the world is the tomato basil bisque at Southern HIlls, nothing will ever top it. The next thing served was basically a leaf of romaine wrapped around prosciutto. It was okay as well. Nothing special. After the palate cleanser I was then served my entree of a stuffed breast of chicken. I couldn't really tell what was in it. More of the mushroom theme and some bacon but it wasn't very potent. It was very tender and juicy and I would order it again if it were served on the daily dinner menu. The best part about my entire meal was the dessert! I am not a dessert freak but I do love chocolate and I have a major sweet tooth for candy in general. The dessert was a trio of chocolate. First I had an amazing white chocolate bombe. OMG I was in heaven! Best bombe ever and the white chocolate was amazing. The second was a small chocolate puff donut. It was okay not my favorite. The third was a chocolate shell filled with a thick milk chocolate fudge. Needless to say I ate all of my "trio of Chocolate". The overall experience wasn't what I had been hoping for since I really wanted to try something off of their dinner menu. BUT Im going to try Trula again on a night when there isn't a theme dinner. Also, if it's a special occasion or holiday ask if there is going to be a theme menu. We didn't know to ask and nobody told us. We made reservations two weeks ahead of date so they may not have known what they were doing yet.

Trula is great restaurant in the newly renovated Mayo Hotel. This upscale place has both a retro and modern feel to go with the look of the hotel. A great bar area leads to a lovely dining room - the menu is diverse and has several price points. The service was friendly and the food fantastic. Our table ordered Catch of The Day (Barramund), Lobster Mac & Cheese, Trula Salad, the Chef's Favorite (pork belly), Herb Marinated Free Range Chicken, mussels and fries with truffle oil. Each dish had a great presentation and lots of flavor. The wine list was not extensive, but our waiter said they plan to add more wine and menu selections soon.

Firstly, I really want to like Trula. I have given it multiple chances under numerous chefs, but each time I go, I am tremendously disappointed. I have lived in the Mayo Hotel since it first opened its doors to residents, so you can imagine how much I would like to enjoy it. The service is consistently subpar and the food is generally underwhelming (which makes it impossible to justify its prices). They are often out of what I would like to order, and most deserts taste like they were purchased ready-made from a food distribution company, i.e., pre-made frozen fair. Many people I have spoken to (who also know what a quality and upscale place it supposed to be) are of the same opinion. If you are looking for a gastronomical experience (or impeccable service for that matter) in Tulsa, go elsewhere. If you would like to spend the evening in one of Tulsa's great landmarks, go for it - but don't claim you weren't warned.

Visited Trula's while in town for a wedding and had a good time, mostly. I started out with a wonderful cocktail - the sidecar. It was done very well right down to the sugar rim, although I have to say I'm not a fan of them being served in a martini glass but lots of places seem to be doing them this way these days. I then had some of the oysters and was thoroughly disappointed. They were not fresh and the jalapeño and avo top were just sort of odd. I moved right along to the strip steak with the blue cheese potatoes. This was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly medium, very juicy and full of flavor. The potatoes were cheesy and delicious. The veggies were grilled to a tender perfection. All in all I'd say stay away from the seafood - the oysters, salmon, and calamari were all had and not enjoyed by our table.

Ate here a couple of months ago on a Friday night before seeing the Pixies. Very good - food was really tasty, service was really good, we were there at about 5:30 PM, and pretty much the only ones in the place (so service should've been good :-) ). I had the mac'n'cheese as the appetizer - best I've ever had, different cheeses (quite stringy), diced tender ham, and *huge*. Wife had fried green tomatoes - just the perfect ripeness so they were pretty solid and held the breading quite well, sauce on top was pretty good too. I had the southern crab cakes as the entree and they were good, nothing outstanding, but at least they had lots of crab in them (unlike a lot of other places that use more filler than crab). Asparagus was slender stalks that were tender, risotto was passable. Wife had potato crusted sea bass and it was wonderful - cooked beautifully, about 1.5" tall, just a huge piece of fish that tasted just as it should with nothing extra to detract. She said veggies were OK, nothing special. I had a chocolate terrine for dessert - quite rich and intense, couldn't finish it. Wife had creme brulee and she liked it, but Bistro Banlieue (RIP) set a very high standard for creme brulee and almost nobody ever meets it. Wine list is a few pages long and has a good variety.

I ordered house salad with Maytag Bleu cheese dressing...could not taste the bleu cheese. My entree was the crusted filet 6 oz, medium rare, cooked perfectly, but was so salty as well as the side veggies that were sauteed....could not eat it all. My husbands dish was the pork chop and again he was disappointed as well, soggy veggies and salty. Very unfortunate for a place that serves entress at $20 up per plate. Maybe they should stick to Fish and Chips, which was generous portion for our other guest....Finely prepared food it is not. Will not eat there again. However, very good table service.

The place and crew are not so good for a tourist like me. The food is good. Not a good experience in Tulsa.

When I walked in "6 minutes prior to opening", was told they were not open for another 6 minutes. Silly thing was a table of women were already dining and my intelligence would lead me to believe it would take me approximately 5-10 minutes to browse the menu, ask for special, and order a beverage before the kitchen would hypothetically open. Don't tell a patron they have six minutes to wait when your doors are unlocked and people are already seated. They would not notice 6 minutes and it's rude. The Caesar salad with chicken was the best item on the menu. Skip the croutons they're stale and request dressing on the side if you're watching your diet. The dressing is very flavorful, but the preparer had a heavy hand in the dressing department. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The Chorizo risotto was more like a stew and bland in flavor--salt and pepper would not save it [I tried]. I didn't bother eating much other than the chunks of chorizo and the fried egg on top was like a piece of toast. The rosemary cake was a disappointment as it was dry in texture. The rosemary herb was present in flavor and inspired me to find the recipe and try it myself. It was not a total disappointment; other than the lack of moistness and a hard hand that had to be used to cut the cake. The 6 blueberries, small strawberry, and dollop of whip cream were more pleasing however. I would expect something in this price range to have a well trained professional staff in the simplest of wait etiquette. I had requested a San Pellegrino. The young waitress went and retrieved a small bottle came back to my table and left it there. I've never dined in a restaurant where a waiter didn't pour the glass. If I wanted that, I could have gone to Starbucks. Other than this minor awareness, she was attentive and delivered the courses in with nice flow. She was very professional and kind and well tipped. The ambiance and decor were lovely. I didn't view the cocktail menu, but I would give the bar a chance. If in doubt, order your favorite beer. +2 stars for ambiance and average wait service. -3 stars because of stale croutons, stew risotto, and dry cake.

They got a new chef who seems to know what he is doing. The food I had was delicious when I stayed at the Mayo and ordered room service but the first night I went down to the restaurant in hopes of having a classy, elegant dinner. I was very disappointed. The place looks like trash, only one waiter, we had to get our own menus which were paper, and the tea was disgusting. We were dressed to the nines so we left and went to a fabulous 5 star place. The Mayo is luxurious, it's time they made the restaurant that way as well. Make the decor warm and inviting instead of grungy and rugged looking and I would give five stats.

Pretty disappointing brunch w the wife...seemed like the restaurant was way, way understaffed. Took forever for everything. Food was ok, but by the time we got it, we were indifferent. Great hotel, cool vibe...trula just needs to so some work.

I really really want to like Trula too! I visit Tulsa often and always stay at the May, so it would be prefect. It is quite a "Monet" of a restaurant. From far away, it looks like it could be great, but up-close...it is just okay. The atmosphere is very romantic and intimate. Dark lighting and dark woods, with pane glass looking at over the street. The bar area is small, but nice with a few tables and the bar to sit at. The menu is adequate, but nothing spectacular. We ordered a few appetizer dishes and wine, so I can't speak to the dinner entrees. What we did eat was good. I had the shrimp and crab claw cocktail. You would think this wouldn't be a good idea in the middle of Oklahoma in the middle of the winter...but it was very good and just enough to have with the wine. I would not rant on about anything here, good or bad. It's okay. I think there is huge potential and the setting couldn't be better. Come on Trula, step it up a notch

I was the only person in the restaurant on a Saturday around noon, but that was nice. Excellent service, and the food was good. Average, but I liked it. I had steak and eggs. Good seasoning, filling, under $20 including tip.
