Reminds me of restaurants in Mexico, repaired vinyl seats with duct tape. Clean, cheap, fresh ingredients, big portions, great salsa and fresh hot chips. Shredded chicken in burritos and Chimichangas was very good. All and all great little Meican cafe, I'll be back

Well, it would be 4.5 stars but they don't give me that option. Went here on a Sunday afternoon and was quite impressed. The .5 star knock would be because they don't serve anything but the buffet on Sunday afternoons apparently. With that out of the way, the buffet was fabulous. All sorts of variety and all of.it excellent. In the dilemma between 4 stars and 5 stars when you want to give a half point, this was an easy call. I'm going to go back and check it out when it is a full menu day.

Not terribly impressed. The food was very average and would warrant three stars, but the nickel and dime attitude this place used was a real turn off. There are large portions- which is great... The menu has enough options that I'm sure anyone could find something to eat. My biggest complaint about the tacos and chimichanga would be that they just seemed reheated and as though they'd been sitting in a warming long before I'd ordered. This is one of those annoyances that I'm not sure what to make of. But after paying at the register and getting to the table without the cheese instead of pico de gallo- I asked for cheese. And- at the end of the meal, there was a check for $1.09 for the few shreds of cheese. Not worth it... And those are some frustrating practices. Average food. Bad service.

I have never been so sick from eating food ever. My buddy got sick too. I ate a beef and bean burrito. Shortly after I had some diarrhea. I laid down for bed and woke in a cold sweat and then the vomiting began. I still feel terrible 26 hours later. This place should be shut down forever. I want the past day of my life back!

3 of us came in for lunch before Chili Bowl. We got steak tacos and we loved them! Steak was ridiculous!! The price is right and portions are very good! Chips are fresh and warm. The salsa is quite good. Staff is super helpful and nice. Well accept for the vegetarian! Just kidding! They were all great!! We will be back next time in Tulsa!

Best Mexican food in Tulsa. I have been eating at Speedy Gonzalez for years way back when they were at their other location on Sheridan. The chips are made fresh and are endless. The salsa is made fresh as well. I don't like salsas that are very chunky and theirs is just right. They have a regular queso which they refer to as golden queso as well as a queso blanco. Both are equally excellent. I love enchiladas so I usually just order a couple of enchiladas ala carte. Cheese with red sauce and chicken golden are my favorites. I have had lots of other items of the menu over the years. The tacos are very good, the crunchy shells are made in house. When you walk in you order at a counter, they'll give you a cup fill it at the fountain then take a seat. From there all you have to do is sit back and enjoy. A server will bring you chips and salsa and bring your food to the table when it is ready. The servers will also refill your cup if need be. Definitely stop in and try anything on the menu and you'll be back every time your in the neighborhood.

I was craving some Mexican food. Three reviews hmm skeptical yet reviews weren't bad. The process of ordering here is basically there is a menu on a board above the counter before the register. So make sure you know what you want before you get there. I got order # 17 which was a beef supreme burrito & a drink. The young lady behind the counter was nice, not quite helpful yet I felt that she shouldn't assume that everyone knows how/what to order, maybe suggesting or recommending a popular dish would be nice/helpful. Over all it was ok. Before you pick a seat, you are handed a metal stand w/ a number on it. Browsing around I noticed this place is pretty big. Guessing this place probably does get busy. I came in on a Saturday, not busy at all. A gentleman as how many people, gives me some chips & salsa it was hmmm ok.. I get me some horchata, that was delicious! It doesn't take long before my food get delivered to me. The gentleman tells me to be careful because the plate is hot. Food was great! I was thinking just a plain burrito but here is this plate full of veggies on top w/ cheese, & some sauce that surrounds the burrito. Wonderful presentation, Surprisingly its as good as it looks. Just don't eat the meat by itself, kinda salty. It's great, it would fill you up on an empty stomach & price is reasonable.

Since I reviewed Ted's, I figured I could say a word about Speedy's. The place has simple but delicious Mexican food for cheap. That's it. We used to go here weekly on Wednesdays for lunch (can't comment on dinner). I did try dinner at the (larger) Mingo location and was not impressed. Don't know why it would differ but it does. Stick to the one on Sheridan for a good casual meal.

Passing through OK and stopping in for lunch, I noticed that approximately 25% of the patrons of this very busy restaurant were beyond obese. I figured the two observations forbode a very good dining experience. The menu is humongous. My wife ordered a combo plate that came with 2 chicken enchiladas, a tamale covered in chili (as in ground beef and beans), a taco, a bean tostada, and a side of rice and beans. I had a plate that featured 2 chicken enchiladas with some sort of queso sauce, with rice and beans on the side. They tasted like they were coated in Cheese Whiz, and I didn't really appreciate it. So I ate off my wife's plate, and we both were completely full without touching her taco or tostada. The beans were seasoned with some sort of smoked pork, like ham or ham hocks or something, which really turned my wife off. Me? They tasted like the red beans and rice dish my mom made me as a kid, and I loved 'em. As for the quality, it was average to slightly below average. What was lacking relative to quality was more that compensated for with the size of the portions, and the low prices; both lunches were priced below $9. If we were looking at a crowd of regulars, I can understand the obesity. Overall, seems to be a great place to go to fill up for cheap.

this place was terrible. the seating area was good. fat man friendly establishment. the food is way overpriced. the chili rellno looked like a small taquito. needless to say mama bear was mad. we spent almost 20 bucks on 2 plates. One dish was an appetizer. we will not be back .....

Excellent food with huge portions and enough menu variety for all appetites. You enter the restaurant and go through a line and order from a board above the line after placing your order you are handed a number on a metal stand. After filling your drink glass from a wide selection of teas, colas and milk. The waiter will find you and provide chips and salsa. The service is "speedy" but you have ample time to enjoy the salsa without feeling rushed. The waiter comes around and refills your salsa from a tea pitcher but soda refills are your responsibility. It was my first visit and was attracted to the new location by the wad of customers parking around the snow banks to get something spicy and warm on New Year's Eve. Almost every customer had enough food left over to request a to go box.

By far the best mexican food in Tulsa, OK. I am from Southern CA and Mexican food is my specialty. The food is authentic as it can get here in America (80%, 20% lost from unavailable ingredients and modification for the American tastebuds). Rice, beans, beef, and eggs! The enchiladas are great, the burritos are deep fried!, the taco salad shell is crunchy. They should add some plantains and empanadas and call it Speedy Latina. Overall, highly recommend.

We recently moved from AZ to MO and we were visiting family in Tulsa. Have to say AZ has awesome Mexican food and since moving to MO we were missing home. This place hit the spot, big portions and a great price; we know authentic and it doesn't get better than this. We will definitely drive 4 hrs again to eat here, enchiladas were amazing and the beans and rice off the hook. So full were all taking home leftovers super excited about that.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
