Oh my gosh this place is incredible. Have been there twice so far, can't wait to bring my husband. The first time I tried it I got a chicken shawarma wrap to go. It also came with hummus. I quickly ate the whole thing- it was so good! Went yesterday with a friend for lunch. Brought my yoga mat with me (just had gone to yoga at Be Love a few doors down) so we got 25% off our whole ticket. Anyway, they started out with complimentary pita bread and a good olive oil with za'atara (roasted thyme). Then we both ordered the same entree- chicken shawarma with hashwa (seasoned ground beef and rice), tabouli and hummus. Everything was amazing. I'm pretty picky about tabouli- my husband's mother's family is Lebanese so we know Mediterranean food- and this was really good. Always a good sign when tabouli is more green than brown (means more parsley than wheat). The chicken shawarma was well seasoned. I think it was the owner- an older gentleman- who came out to talk to us to make sure we liked the food and also asked if we needed anything else. He was so nice. We were too stuffed for dessert. I think they also have a full bar-looks really nice. Will have to come by for dinner!

I try chicken swarma all over America. By far this is the best one I have ever had. I was so impressed that I asked to try the falafels, baba ganouj, hummus, and cabbage rolls. And now all I can say is wow! I'm speechless.

Tried it last weekend, and enjoyed the food. We arrived close to 9 pm and it was still pretty crowded, so not sure how busy it might have been during peak, so calling ahead for a reservation may be worthwhile. Host was friendly but server was a little preoccupied with whatever she had going on beside us and her other tables. Service started out very slow, and improved significantly as it got closer to tip time, which always wins extra points with me (I don't have an emoji for sarcasm, but insert here if you have one). The items on the mezze plate were very tasty and also seemed authentic, really enjoyed everything we tried. We also had the fatoosh, which was excellent as well. Other items all sounded great. We decided to try the baklava for dessert, which I've had many times at other places, and while I like it, it usually is pretty generic. Not the case here. I am not sure if it had dates or raisins baked into it, and whichever it was, it made it unique and delicious. I recommend trying that if you visit. I'd give it a 4 on taste and 2 1/2 on service, thus the 3 overall.

Took my wife here for dinner for her birthday and she loved it. The hummus is amazing, I'm not even a big hummus person, I usually can take it or leave it but this is the first hummus I've eaten that I really liked. The cured tuna is good too. Kabobs are a good choice if you're more of meat and potatoes type person but everything I saw looked absolutely amazing.

Been here twice for lunch and it was a pleasure both times. It's not a huge space and it starts getting kinda crowded around 11:30 or so. It's nicely appointed but casual. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu items. The Shawarma is very good for $15, or the Pita Wrap shawarma is a good value at $10. I had the Panzanella salad which is a hardy meal in itself for $7, or you can add chicken to it for an additional $5. Parking is right on 6th Street and so far I haven't had any difficulty getting a spot. They have a selection of wines and plan on adding a Happy Hour Mezze plates in a couple of weeks. It's a nice addition to the Pearl District.

This is one of the best new finds we've had in a while. The lamb shank was exquisite, the zatar steak was wonderful, and the coq au vin was NOT what we were expecting. The twist Paul puts on his dishes is spectacular. I can't recommend this place highly enough. You should go!

  • Edward S.

Great atmosphere. I was so excited to go, but left disappointed. I will give them a second chance though. I ordered the Bouillabaisse and the broth tasted bad because the mussels were very fishy. My wife had the tomato salad with falafels which were very greasy.

Went here for the first time and the service was extremely slow and the food was horrible. My chicken was raw and the food was cold. I wouldn't go back.

I'm really into you, Papa Ganouj. I had heard good things about this place a while back and just got around to trying it last night. I didn't regret it. first off, this place is a double whammy: fun interior AND good food. my fiancé and I shared the vegetable sampler. lots of good & refreshing tastes. at 12 bucks this was a steal- definitely enough for a light dinner/tapas for 2.. however, we decided to keep going.. on to the chicken schwarma. boy, was it good. the chicken was seasoned very well and it was served with hummus and wild rice with almonds. personally, I'd get both the vegetable sampler and the chicken schwarma again.. and again. the service was good and the aesthetics were exceptionally pleasing. the Pearl District- though currently limited to about 4 businesses- is fun. I'm hoping it will continue its gentrification with more fun places such as Papa Ganouj.

Came here with my wife because she had been here once before and said it was good. Today was a bad bad bad idea. I arrived at 11:15. No one else in the place. I get seated and order a tea. It's pretty open inside with a small bar near the entrance and very clean. My wife arrives and She gets her drink order and I put in an order of the cabbage rolls. One more patron arrives and is seated. We place our lunch order around 11:20. The cabbage rolls come out about 15 mins later and are pretty tasty. Off to a good start I thought. A few people show up to meet the previously only other person in the place. They take a seat outside because they have small children and it was already as loud as can be inside. The place REALLY needed some sort of acoustic treatment. There were 5 adults and 3 kids and we were having to yell to have a conversation. After about 30 mins of waiting I look at my watch and see that I have been here for just under an hour. Hmmm. Service is running slow. The hostess is getting drinks as needed and delivering appetizers. 2 other groups arrive, a party of 2 and a party of 6. I am starting to wonder... will these people get their food? We have been here for an hour now, and havn't eaten. My wife gets the hostess attention and she comes over and apologizes before we say anything, then proceeds to tell us our meals are free because the chef or one of the cooks just walked off the job. I asked her if the food was even cooking or about ready because we both had places we needed to be. She assured us that it was coming out soon. After another 10 mins the food arrives. Looks nice, smells nice, but just wasn't right. My wife cut her burger in half and had one heck of a time doing so. The patty was seasoned and cooked well done it looked, but the thing was nearly solid like a rock. I tried a bite of hers and the flavor was good. I had a wrap that had overcooked steak in it. Was very tough, but the flavor of the wrap was good. Our dishes both came with seasoned garlic fries that were nice. My wife was texting a friend letting her know what was going on and how bad she felt bringing me here, because they both had raved about it. I really just hope it was an off day. The waitress/hostess was friendly and nice and comped the food. We wound up spending about 1 hour and 45 mins on what was going to be a quick lunch. I will have to try this place again but will be after I read a few more positive reviews posted to let me know that it still isn't out of control.

Rude waitress who was a know it all and argumentative. Food was worse than it used to be. Will not be back. Unfortunately I gave this place a second chance and they failed me and my friends miserably.

To sum this place up, as stated by my husband: The food reminds me of something I've ate before...at a wedding. This tasted like catered wedding food. Which is such a let down. After reading the Yelp reviews and then checking out the menu online, I made a reservation for my husband and I to have a lovely Valentine's Day dinner date (my parents were so gracious to drive 6.5 hours to babysit, not kidding). When we got Papa Ganouj and were seated, we were presented with a special Valentine's Day menu. After looking it over and not being very impressed with the dishes, I asked to see the every day menu instead. Folks, this menu is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than what they posted online. There is no seared pork belly. No Mousaka. Nothing even close. There are, however, half a dozen pasta dishes and an assortment of chicken entrees. So, it was six one way half a dozen the other in terms of which menu to order off of. We went with the Valentine's Day menu because it had wine. First course: mezze of baba ganouj, hummus, and tabouli with pita chips. Hummus was great and this is coming from a hummus snob. The tabouli was extremely dry and needed way more olive oil and lemon. Not great at all. Second course: ravioli pasta in brown butter sauce and a pear filling. I couldn't eat this because of my body's aversion to dairy but my husband ate it all. He said the homemade pasta was good but it lacked filling and salt. Third course: I had the salmon with tahini sauce while my husband had the masala pork. Totally catered wedding food taste. I picked at my salmon because it lacked any flavor and the supposed tahini sauce was a small drizzle. My husband ate his pork because he's a man and that's what men do. Fourth course: duo of tiramisu and panna cotta. Meh. The tiramisu lacked the espresso punch and needed a more substantial layer of ladyfingers. The panna cotta needed more vanilla or more something else in general. For a place that claims to be a fusion of Spanish, Moroccan, Tunisian, Lebanese, etc. flavors and dishes, I never tasted anything akin to these amazing culinary places. Dinner was a complete let down, and there is no way you could get me to come back here when I know better food can be found elsewhere, probably at the next wedding I attend. Note: my husband is Arab so when he says the tabouli is bad, that should mean something.

There's few things better than eating somewhere where they care as much about the customer having a great time as they do about the food. The food was amazing. The service was great. Try the vegetarian cabbage rolls. Ask about the old doors propped up by the kitchen entrance.

So downtown's got a Mediterranean place, and it's long overdue. Papa Ganouj specializes in Mezze- small plates that go well with drinks, along with the entree menu, wine list, and a full bar. I've tried the majority of the Mezze at this point. The absolute musts would be the Artichokes/Mushrooms, the off-menu(just ask) Marinated Mozzarella balls, the Baba Ganouj(served with Pita wedges for dipping), Hummus, which is good, but I'd suggest not screwing around, and get the Baba Ganouj instead. The Cured Tuna was a great way to keep your palate in a state of delicious imbalance, though the king of the "palate reset" would have to be the Dates. The Tabbouleh had the perfect tangy ingredient balance; it's always nice to have another option in an underserved town. The Mezze are sold as Choose 2($6), Choose 4($11), and Chef's choice 6($14). So there are price breaks for the adventurous, as there should be with life in general. It's time to start living it. The Zatar Filet was cooked exactly as requested, medium rare. It was delicious- served medallion style, plated with their squid ink pasta(!), and vegetables. After I finish trying everything else on their menu, this very well may be my go-to entree. I also had the surprise/fortune of trying the "Baklava". Not to be confused with the dessert option- this Baklava anomaly is totally savory. It's filled with chicken and stuffing, but wrapped in the familiar flaky crust. Totally delicious, and will most likely be a lunchtime favorite. I've never run into anything quite like it, but I highly recommend you give it a try. Though the majority of the entrees are meat based, this place is extremely vegetarian friendly. That should make a lot of downtown dwellers smile. Papa Ganouj is open Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-11pm, with Mezze happy hour from 4:30-6:00, during the week, featuring $1 Mezze plates. For real. Sign me up. See you there.

The food was excellent and the service was great. I had the chicken Shawarma and my girlfriend had the Kabob with Shrimp and Steak. The portions were good and the price was definitely reasonable for what you get. The chicken and shrimp we're delicious. The steak was well executed, tender and full of flavor. The Hashwa rice was incredible. I accidentally stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad I tried it out. I will be coming back. Try their Tiramisu. You won't regret it!

The food, atmosohere, and service were all awesome! I ordered the Steak Shwarma with tabouli. Either I was really hungry or that's now one of the top 10 most delicious meals I've ever had. I will definitely return here, but not on my lunch break because it took about 30 minutes to get the food out.

Having grow up in the Middle East and spent a significant portion of my life in the Mediterranean I feel confident in saying the food here at PG is as authentic as it gets. Since opening my girlfriend and I have eaten here several times and we're looking forward to the next opportunity to come back for more. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is stellar and their food is fresh, savory and leaves you feeling fully satisfied. If you're in the mood for a cocktail they have a host of custom cocktails that are sure to quench your thirst and if you're more of a wine lover may I suggest the Riff Pinot Grigio. It is a crisp cool white that should pair well with anything on the menu. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, try one of their custom deserts. If you see something you like, get it now. They are always updating and changing their desert presentations so you don't want to miss out. I hope you enjoy PG as much as I do and if you stop by look around because you're highly likely to see me sipping on something refreshing and stuffing my face with their delusions food.

It was my first time at Papa Ganouj and it surely didn't disappoint. I really love the location and the ambiance inside of the restaurant can be described as cozy and quaint. The wait staff is very friendly as well. The simple menu was also refreshing. I ordered the mezze as an appetizer consisting of hummus, artichoke, ceviche, and tabouli. Everything on the plate was delicious. I then ordered the Shawarma for my entree which consisted of deliciously tender lamb and veal alongside vegetables, hummus, tabouli, ceviche, and pita chips. I would venture to say the best Mediterranean restaurant in town. The owner came out mid-meal to ask us about our experience too. If you are looking for an excellent option to the mundane burger or mexican joint then give Papa Ganouj a try! It's located in the up-and-coming Pearl District of Tulsa. I suggest you check it out!

Stopped in early this evening and had the Shawarma meal and the death by chocolate, and they were both delicious #foodgasm. The menu was different than the last time I was here a few months ago, but it did not fail to impress just like it did the last time. Will def come back!

I'm happy! Honestly, I can't remember the last time I felt that way after a meal out in this town. There are plenty of really good restaurants in Tulsa, but I haven't eaten in one where I felt the food was cooked with such passion. It felt like I was eating at the chef's home for Sunday dinner. My favorite kind of eating! I don't want to go into specifics about what we ordered because I bet the entire menu is as thoughtful. I'll just say between the three of us we tried quite a few offerings and they were all outstanding. Also, the service was genuine and prompt. I can't say enough nice things about this place and I definitely can't wait to go back!

First time in, and it was a very pleasant surprise. Started off with 4 of the mezze options: baba ganouj, escebeche, figs and dates, and mjadara. The figs/dates were a bit sweet for me, but everything else was delicious. Great flavors that pop. For the entree course, I had the bourgninon with lamb. Bold taste, very rich and satisfying. My companion had the coq au du vin blanc, which had an amazing sauce and tender, flavorful chicken. For dessert, we split the baklava that came with pistachio ice cream. Large enough to split comfortably, flaky and balanced with a wonderful nutty honey sauce. Maybe a touch on the pricey side (both entrees were $23-27), but delicious nonetheless, and I will certainly be back. Cool interior, good staff, very enjoyable visit!

Chicken baklava & baba ganouj were really tasty. The mjadara had a char to it that I'm not sure was purposeful. It was a little mushy with no rice that I could see. I liked the falafels that were served with the burger. Not your typical falafel as they contain no parsley, but they were spiced well and perfectly crisp. The burger itself was pretty good. I wish the haloumi had been grilled a bit longer as it was still cold. It could have used some lettuce or something to brighten the dish up a little bit. Overall a pretty space and a great concept. Can't wait to go back and try things after it's been open for a few weeks.

When noise levels reach the damaging range, it causes ringing of the ears. I left this restaurant with my ears ringing because of the extremely high noise levels. People yelling to talk to each other in a room with terrible acoustics. Furthermore, I was trapped there after the meal because of inability to get the waitress's attention. Did not deserve the 15% tip she got. Mediterranean menu choices were good, but prices and quantities were not justified. How precious are three "infused" white grapes on a plate?
