Two thumbs up for this Delicious mexican food restaurant. If you havent been here then its time you try it out..especially if you love good mexican food. Wide variety of menu selections...the atmosphere is slightly dim..and calming. I gave it just a 4 star is because the service is good but not fast or acknowledges you untill you've been waiting for a while.

I have eaten here several times & always get the ultimate guacamole. I haven't been here in a while so I was surprised to see it is now over $8 & they only use 3 HALVES of an avocado to make it. Needless to say, it was significantly smaller than it has been in the past but yet they still use the same amount of lime which was OVER KILL to the taste. I won't make the mistake again. We will stop at On The Border before we get to the mall.

I may be biased as I worked for the 21st location in the mid eighties (OMG that makes me pretty old!) I stopped by yesterday for the "cotton bowl" deal. To know about it you would need to be signed up for their text ads. All day Saturday it was buy one entree get one free. Pretty nice deal. Also Tuesdays are their 1/2 price fajitas days. You can't recreate this at home for the 6 or 7 bucks you will spend. Now for the real spoiler; or maybe I shouldn't.....no...I will. A great deal of folks do not know that if you ask for tortillas & vegetable relish they will bring it free. Thats right, FREE. Not flour, only corn tortillas. Wifey & I usually munch on that for a bit with the chips & salsa then split an order of fajitias. We have never left hungry, and usually still get a to go box for what is left. Good food, good service--see y'all there!! (I'll be the goofy old guy, trying to keep the sun out of my eyes)

I've been going to this restaurant since 2000. We used to go 2-3 times a week. The atmosphere was great. They had attractive servers who knew their job, great food, awesome drinks, cloth napkins and real glasses. Back in the day, I would've rated this 5 stars, but when they changed management they changed too much. I still like going here every once in awhile, usually when I'm going to see a movie next door, but I don't go out of my way to go there anymore. The fajitas and taco salad is still good, but almost everything else has gone to hell.

Its usually not like us to go to a chain like restaurant, however we were hungry and in the area. We thought "how bad could it be?" The salsa they bring you with the chips was not good. Chris got the beef burrito and I had a bite of it and it had the strangest flavor. I was surprised he ate as much as he did. Strongly recommend you keep looking if you are really wanting good mexican.

Although there was a casual atmosphere, the food was really greasy. Not tasteful at all!

This place has a great selection on their menu. Its a semi warm environment. The service is adequate, I've come here a few times and I've only had bad service once, but the manager listened to my complaint and resolved it quickly. Over all this is a good place to eat. I would recommend this as a great date night dinner experience, if your not in a huge rush.

My wife and I love this El Chico. We are from the Dallas area but attend a classic video game convention every year in Tulsa and always reserve one meal for here. We have never been disappointed. We have a good El Chico near us, but honestly talk about this location as one of the things we look forward to on our trips. Yes, this is a chain restaurant so the menu and prices are fixed, but the food and service have always been excellent. The food is always served very hot extremely fast. Definitely recommend!

El Chico's is always a great option for some good Tex-Mex. I like to come for lunch. They have a great low price lunch menu. It's always been clean when I have been and the staff has been pretty friendly. No complaints really. I really recommend the Tacos Carnitas, they are delicious!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
