There's not much open the day after Christmas...something the boyfriend and I learned on our way back to Texas from Kansas City. We stopped in Tulsa planning to go somewhere else, but after finding out it was closed we had to drive around....Coney I Lander was the only place open. And to be honest, it didn't look like it would be any good. But boy were we wrong! The building is old, the inside is outdated to the max, and wow the ordering area could use a makeover...oh and they only have hot dogs, frito pies and a few other things on the menu. But trust me, don't give up! I was starving, so after seeing the tiny size of the hot dogs I decided to order 2 and a frito pie. YUM! It was all great....simple, good eats. And WOW is it cheap! Atmosphere aside, Coney I Lander blows Sonic and other hot dog fast food places out of the water! Try it. You'll thank me. But a note to the owners...a fresh coat of paint could go a LONG way.

I guess I'll throw my hat in here. I'm sure it's not healthy. I'm sure it's probably got stuff in it that I don't want to know about. But they sure do taste good. The first "Coney" I ever had was back on the east coast, in a town called Cumberland, Maryland. What was so funny about it, from what I've heard, was that the two brothers who owned it got into a fight, which lead to one of the brothers opening up a shop two or three doors down from the other, serving the exact same thing. As far as I know, they are both still there today. The other thing about those Coney's was there was no cheese to be seen. I had never even heard of such a thing until I got to Tulsa. My relatives who come to visit are just shocked that you would ever put cheese on a coney. Now, as a Tulsan who has moved and returned, I can tell you I used to crave these stupid hot dogs more than you can know. My Mom would meet me at the plane with a order of them. Are they great? That's for you to decide. But are they a taste of Tulsa? No doubt. It's a signature food, like it or not.

Great place, when I am in Tulsa I always try to make it by here and Elmers. I am originally from the area and wish they would have one of these down in Houston. The coney's are to die for, the chili is unique to Coney I-Lander and I haven't ever seen it duplicated.... Also do a frito pie with the chili which is great!

Great for when you are by TU and have a coney fix, be it right before a game or on the go. I love to add a touch of red pepper to my coney. Steamed buns and mild chili.

For years my girlfriend would rave about this place while we lived in California. Not until we moved here did I finally get a chance to try it. I have to say I am a fan. It's a simple product but it works. Small hot dogs with mustard, chili, onions and cheese make for a perfect combination. The chili has a unique flavor. The coney is the slider of the hot dog world. You just want to eat a bunch of them. Be sure to stop by. The people are friendly and the food is good. What more do you need?

This is the true Tulsa institution. Every time i go back to T-Vegas I always hit up Coney once if not multiple times. I like chili, cheese, onion, mustard and cayenne pepper on top. This is the truest, most regionally identifiable, and most famous of all Tulsa foods. I just wish they would build one down in Austin but I got a feeling it just wouldn't quite be the same. BTW -- what is this bag of chips stuff? Everybody knows that you get fritos with your Coney!

I love coneys. Which means I love this place. And it's a Tulsa institution. My grandpa ate here as a kid, my dad ate here when he went to college at TU, and now that I'm a student at TU, I eat here too. Its a pretty dated place. But the food is still amazing. And very simple. You get a drink and chips if you want, then they ask how many coneys you want. Then you get the choice: mustard, onion, chili, and cheese. All 4, none, just chili, whatever. You're choice. I'm a 3 with chili/cheese/onion guy myself. And you can get all that for less than $5. Very cheap meal, but very filling and tasty. I mean, they've been in business almost 80 years, so they have to be doing something right. Also, I went early once, right after church got out around 11:15. There were 4 other car fulls of people in front of us waiting to get in (they don't open until 11:30). When a place has people lining up to get in, thats a good sign i think. Oh and I almost forgot, theres a cryptogram every day on a dry erase board that you can figure out while you eat. And be sure to sprinkle some of the red seasoning stuff on your coneys, Mmmm... so good.

Yummy lil hot doggies! Have it any way you want. Plain, with cheese, chilie...whatever! When ever we are in town, this is a must stop because of my husband. He grew up eating coneys. So I deal with it...lol its not bad, just a lil place to snack on some tiny hot dogs. :)

As a native Tulsan, whenever I'm in town, I gotta have some coneys. Coney I-Lander does it right. The buns are soft, the chili just right, and the dogs are cooked perfectly. This location is one of the best in town.

in 1972 I was introduced to coneys and cayenne pepper here by my step father. Every Saturday after the chores were done we would load up and go get coneys. Since that time I have dined here at least every couple of weeks and like they say, it hasn't changed a bite. Made fresh and hot just the way you want them and as many as you want to eat. It's said that the secret is in the chili and while that may be, the fresh ingredients and dogs cook to just the right "snap" when you bite into them adds up to the best coneys in town!

I really like this location because it is close to a few places I frequent. I have never dined-in, but you have to order inside; it is very clean and well kept. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I also get speedy service every time I visit. Now, they are known for their coneys, but I like to get the tamales (with cheese and light on the onions). They are super tasty. I want some now! Thank you Yelp! ;-P

I grew up eating Coney I-Lander and used to live two blocks from this location for several years. This was my go to joint when recovering from a rough night or on Sunday when watching some football. I love this location. We were recently in town for the holidays and I had to stop in for a couple of coneys, even though I wasn't really hungry. Still, they tasted just like they always have and that is exactly what I wanted. I always have to stop by when in town and look forward to the next time. See you soon!

*As good as it gets for a classic Coney. First off, get your expectations in the right spot. This place is old and dated, pretty sure they have never remodeled. You will not find 'gourmet' hot dogs here. I found out the harsh reality that coneys are not a commodity after moving to Houston, so when I'm in town I try to hit this place up for a coney or four... If you're a first timer here is what you get: - A soda - 2-4 hot dogs, Toppings: Chili (yes, onion (yes), shredded cheddar (yes), mustard (meh, some people will tell you this is a must) - chips if you want them. Got it? Now go find a table, it's just around the corner from ordering, if there isn't a completely empty table, just sit with someone already there, they shouldn't mind. On the table you'll find a red powder in a shaker, use it, this is cayenne pepper and it makes these go from average to superb. I hope you like it! There are many of us around the country who don't have access to such luxuries all the time.

Coney!!!!! It's a boardwalk. In your mouth yo! Cheese, chilli and delectably processed meats combine to be an amusement park of fun with your mouth as the ultimate thrill ride! Ask for the extra mustard!

Coney I-Lander is a solid choice. They don't have a whole lot of options, but the ones they do are awesome! I usually get two conies with chili, cheese, and onion. (For those who don't know, a coney is just a very small hot dog with simple toppings.) The sides are just chips, which is fine. This store is convenient because it's on 11th and is good for when you're around TU. In fact, I see students walking to and from this fine establishment all the time. The only downsides are (again) it's a pretty limited menu and that it can get pretty packed before TU games. The reason I don't go too often anymore is because it's such a junk food - I can't imagine eating here too much without destroying my heart! Overall, a very solid place!

Classic Tulsa coney place. I really like the Frito chili pie. Order a few they are tiny but delicious! Cheap easy snack or go big for a full meal

I grew up eating at Coney I-Lander with my grandma. She would tell me every time we went in about how she used to get 2 coneys and a drink for a quarter. She also said that in all of the years they have stayed consistent and haven't changed a bite. I love these little hotdogs. I prefer just chili and cheese. If you have never had a coney before, know this, coney chili is a little thinner and more tangy than a normal chili some people love it some people hate it. Another excellent menu item is the tamales. I get them smothered in chili with cheese on top. They also have chili three way though I have never tried it. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The dinning room section also has a word scramble puzzle. They are usually quotes. I like to sit and figure out the puzzle while eating my coneys. When in the mood for a coney/ hotdog stop by Coney I-Lander.

A coney is a small hot dog on a soft bun with chili, cheese and onions but it's nothing like any Chili Cheese dog I've had in California. The first time I went to Tulsa my husband made me go to Coney I-lander. It didn't look very appetizing but I took a bite of his any way. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not but wanted my own. The chili has this really unique flavor that I still can't place. We went back the next day and I had 3 coneys and that was it for me, I was completely hooked. We went several more times during our trip to Tulsa. I wish they would open one in California.
